These designs are up for adoption and all proceeds will go to charity! Rules and details below the cut. [reblogs are appreciated!]
☀️ Sun: Sold to @hitheeprithee 🦋 Butterfly: Sold to @imjussthereforthefanart 💥 Beast: Sold to @ultrainfinitequest
Price is $25 each. Payments will be done via Paypal and all proceeds will go to the [National Network of Abortion Funds]!
Please read the following sections! Thanks ^^
Tumblr media
How does it work?
If you're interested, shoot me a dm AND reply to this post with which one you are claiming. (this allows other users to more easily see that a design has been claimed)
After you contact me and confirm your interest, I will update the post to show that you have claimed, then purchased the design
Payments will be submitted to Paypal, then donated as a lump sum, either after all three designs have sold OR after three days (I would prefer to make the donation all at once, hence the wait time, but if three days pass and not all designs have been purchased I'm happy to make the donations separately)
Donation receipts will be added to this post and posted independently as proof of donation
While you are welcomed and encouraged to make donations to the charity, doing so ≠ payment for an adopt.
If you are interested in donating and getting something in return, feel free to check out my [Flash for a Cause] post!
Tumblr media
What you get: ownership of the design you purchased + png without the watermark over the design + a transparent png with no signature.
Dos and Don'ts
✔️ Using the original art as a character reference, an icon, a blog resource, etc ✔️ Making an oc based off of this adoptable and drawing your own artwork of the design ✔️ Making changes to the design after purchase, if you'd like ✔️ Reuploading the original art to other sites with credit/a link back
❌ Claiming the original art as your own creation / original design ❌ Tracing, or removing signatures from the original art ❌ Merchandising or otherwise profiting off of the original art ❌ Utilizing this art for NFTs or any other crypto currency
Tumblr media
EDIT: All adopts have been sold! Thanks to everyone who participated!!
Tumblr media
(donation ended up being $80 because I was sent a bit extra for one of the adopts ^^)

My experience with WeLoveFine/ForFansByFans as an artist.
This in regards to the Act 6/7 Tarot Project, which occurred from 2017 to 2018. I also want to thank @aryll for the chance to participate in such a project, and thank you for doing what you could with the group and what occurred. I realize this is a few years late, however, but it’s been bothering me ever since it occurred, and I only chose to speak my mind about it. But to summarize, the project started out as unofficial, however we were approached by FFBF in February of 2018. They were willing to sell the deck as official merchandise on their store. I have my own opinions on the company, as it’s known they underpay artists severely for their work despite selling most items for extremely high prices. A similar payment issue occurred with the Official Homestuck Zine, and one of the artists of the Tarot Project posted this in the comments:     “Can relate OP. I did work for the new tarot deck (using my throwaway account for that reason lol) but we aren’t being paid at all. No money. The only compensation we are getting is a free deck and an exclusive enamel pin which is pennies compared to what they’ll be making off us. One might argue that the project wasn’t supposed to be printed so I should be grateful it’s even happening but I expected a big company like WLF to y’know, pay artists... The only reason I agreed to letting them use my art was to get a free deck. I also honestly dislike WLF’s artist compensation policy. My art has been selected from the Fan Forge before and the idea of being able to sell my HS art was so appealing, but the execution is so poor. They don’t pay us until we sell $100 worth of shirts, but that is so difficult in a market that is so oversaturated. I wish they like, cycled designs in and out. Instead, they just keep adding more and more designs, drowning out old ones and just flooding the entire market. Plus, they get to withhold money from artists until every hundred-dollar mark. I can’t imagine how much they’ve made off of small time artists that get their design accepted and sell maybe 3 shirts since it happens so often.” So. What exactly happened? I’ll explain under the cut given there’s a decent amount to go through. Though to summarize; WeLoveFine/ForFansByFans is an extremely egregious company that does not value their artists whatsoever and will do what they can to pay them as little as possible. Please support said artists on sites that actually do give them fair pay, or support them via commissions.
There were a few bumps during the tarot project, though overall it went extremely smoothly and we released our art to the Tumblr blog. FFBF approached us during this time, and we were all given the option to agree to continue working or the project or decline. However, this is what was an important piece to the initial email sent out by the Tarot Project team;      • Each participating artist will get a full finalized copy of the deck, COMPLETELY free. This includes packaging and free shipping of the deck.      • Each participating artist will get an enamel pin commemorating the project, EXCLUSIVE to the artists of this project only, with a custom design as chosen/designed by us. What will most likely occur is that everyone who wishes to submit a design for the pin can do so, and as a group, we will vote on which one we would like to submit as our final design choice!     • Each participating artist will receive FULL COMMISSION on any further usage of their artwork by What Pumpkin or For Fans By Fans. For example, if they release a mini-print, wallet, etc. with your design on it, you will be paid in commission for the usage of your work. (If you have ANY questions about how this would work, please don’t hesitate to ask and I will hook you up ASAP with a For fans By Fans representative who can go over the details with you further.)     • Each participating artist will have a window in which they will be able to make updates or revisions to their illustration(s) before the project is released. This means that if something is bugging you about your work, or you feel that it does not reflect your current level of skill, you will be allowed to resubmit a new version before the project officially goes up as merchandise! So, the majority of us agreed to continue forward with the project and retouch our cards. From there, things continued, and we were emailed by a FFBF representative on occasion to discuss how the process went, as well as various other things that required discussion, plus asked to assist in the promotion of the 4/13/18 celebration on their website. This is where the issues began and would continue through the entire project, with it still being seen post-release of the cards. We were sent an email in April of 2018 requiring information to be provided in the  accompanying booklet of the deck, as well as being asked to answer various interview questions that would be posted to FFBF’s Tumblr, and most importantly; the Commission Agreement form. So what did it entail? This was the form I was sent. My interview was never posted. I have looked multiple times and never seen evidence it ever was, either. And this was also included in the email;    • We are going to be hosting a pre-order bonus promotion surrounding the new tarot set, starting 413. Anyone who pre-orders the set will be entered into a drawing to win a commissioned art piece from a random artist who worked on the tarot. You will be paid by us, FFBF, for this commission work in the amount of $50.  So we had to draw more art with a very close deadline date to obtain a payment  for art we had already created, both of which should have easily been worth more than $50 total. I signed without thinking, which looking back on, was incredibly idiotic, despite my own worries over the fact that even at the time, $50 did not seem like a lot. Progress continued. An exclusive pin was designed and created for the artists, though the production and delivery dates would be delayed to September of 2018. During this time, we were also invited to join FFBF’s Discord server as well, which I am still in, though am not active in. And eventually, we were provided a Commission Schedule. I do not know if I’m missing an email between the enamel pin shipment and this schedule post, however I cannot find any trace of it. This is the Commission Schedule email, and what it consists of. Of course I found it strange, because looking at the schedule, I could never find any sign of myself having been added. Obviously I should have replied then and there due to that, but I didn’t, and that is my own fault. But that rolled into October of 2018, when I did finally email back and asked about why I hadn’t been added. I was sent back this; “Hi Calicorn! I’m sorry I misinterpreted your response as not wanting to proceed:“3)  I am completely willing to sign up for being one of the artists for the commission raffle event, though I must say $50 would be underpaying considering most artists’ base prices for commissions tend to be $50 or more.” Then I sent “If you do not want to be part of the give-away, that’s totally ok. We are offering $50 for these commissions but if that price is not within your comfort, there’s no pressure!” You never came back with anything so I didn’t want to proceed since it seemed like you were uncomfortable with the amount we were offering – I’m really sorry if I misunderstood! The giveaway is actually over I’m sorry to say but I appreciate you following up about this. I wonder why the message went into spam.. Please let me know if there is anything else I can do for you Thanks!” And one of the most glaring issues popped up in October as well. When we finally received our decks in the mail, our project’s Discord group began to discuss the fact that our emails had been printed in the pamphlet without our permission. Mind you, this was also a project that included minors in it, and our emails had now been given away without our knowledge. Another issue with the pamphlets is the fact that FFBF had reused the same text from the Homestuck Kickstarter Tarot Deck, as seen on the New Booklet/Old Booklet, and here/here. FFBF then decided to remove the booklet from every outgoing tarot that gets ordered, with customers receiving a corrected digital PDF that was coordinated in its creation by Aryll. And apparently previous customers would receive this PDF via emails, as well as a link to download it on the product page. Thankfully FFBF seemed to have at least posted the PDF on the product page, however this seems extremely lazy compared to simply including the newly reprinted booklet. Though this may not be the last of issues, as I stumbled across the Amazon product page for our tarot deck earlier before typing this all up. To say the least, it is extremely infuriating, especially given the quality of the cards and how many people of complained about them on both Amazon and FFBF’s websites. Of course we, the artists, were never alerted to this development, nor were we paid for such.
Tumblr media
But overall, we were hardly paid for our time and effort during this project, which is a massive disappointment, but perhaps that much should have been expected from WeloveFine/ForFansByFans, who are notorious for underpaying artists and overpricing products. Their actions are inexcusable, and I am still both disappointed and furious with this company as a whole. But thank you for reading, and please spread the word, as I do not want FFBF’s actions to go unnoticed.

hello everyone!!! i am now opening limited commissions for single character portraits. please read below the cut for full details. if you have any further questions or wish to submit a commission request, contact me via DM or email.
reblogs are a free way to always help out artists! :^)
Rules and Details
1.) Prices/slots are for a single character portrait only.
If you wish to commission (no more than) two (2) characters, you may request the purchase of two different slots. These can either be separate individual portraits, or the two character slots can be applied to a single drawing in which the characters may be interacting, if you prefer.
2.) Requests for both fanart and original characters are okay.
If requesting an OC, please provide as many references as possible.
If there is no existing art of this character, please provide as detailed a description as possible with any relevant reference imagery you may have (for example, a particular clothing garment or hairstyle).
If you wish to commission me to aid in creating the design of a new character, I would be happy to discuss this, but note it would likely be for a small increase in price.
3.) I have the right to refuse any commission request for any reason.
4.) Payment will be PayPal only, via invoice. The process will go as follows:
1. You submit your commission request via social media direct message or email: sewerpigeonart@gmail(.)com
2. If I accept your request, I will begin with the first rough/concept sketches to figure out the basics like posing and expression. We will communicate back and forth, adjusting these sketches as needed, until a final concept is decided upon.
3. Once we have finalized the base sketch, I will then send you the PayPal invoice through email.
Partial payments will be permitted, however I will not proceed to complete the drawing until full payment has been received.
If I have not received full payment within a month, and if there has been no open dialogue or sufficient reason for me to prolong the deadline, I will contact you with the notice that your commission request has been cancelled.
If I have to cancel your request, I will refund any payments that have been made. In the future, if you would like to request a commission from me after having had a previously cancelled request, I will require full payment upfront before even beginning the concept sketches.
DO NOT attempt to send any payments before I have accepted your request and emailed you your invoice. The email provided is not my PayPal email, and any payments made to my Ko-Fi are considered donations only and would not count toward your commission payment should your request be accepted.
4. Once payment has been received, I will begin working to complete your commission. Throughout the process, I will send you regular updates for both transparency’s sake and to ensure the commission is coming along to your liking.
If you wish to make any changes to your commission request, please do so as early as possible during the process. Once the drawing is complete and sent to you, no further major changes may be requested.
I know there are some people who like to keep their commissions a surprise until the final product is complete. If this is your preference, I will be happy to comply. I will still require full payment before beginning the request, and once the process has begun, no major changes that were not previously agreed upon may be submitted (minor changes, such as a color adjustment, are okay).
5. Once the commission is completed, you will receive two versions of the full-size file via email: one will have a signature, and the other will not.
Once you have received the completed commission piece, you have permission to post and share it wherever you like, editing it however you may please.
The signed version of the file is included for any social media posting to your personal pages—credit is not required since you have paid for this custom art, however do not misrepresent the image in any way to imply you or anyone else is the creator of the piece. The work belongs to you, but it was not made by you. Please be respectful of me and all other artists’ work.
5.) These are set prices based on giving myself a LOW hourly wage. They are non-negotiable; however, in the future when I offer commissions, prices are subject to change. These are the prices specifically for this particular batch of commission slots.

Urgent Life Update: We Need Help.
I feel like I’ve done nothing but serve bad news for months now, but it’s something I’ve unfortunately just come to terms with being the normal.
Amidst my recent and ongoing health issues, our personal traumas and losses, and our already poor financial situation due to many collective issues, my girlfriend was just laid off from her job that would have made us okay. We are now both unemployed for factors outside of our control.
We are now facing eviction, our amenities being cut off, fear being sent to collections, and a cut to our renters credit and personal credit scores. RE: Help-- My parents are in the middle of a messy and expensive divorce, and her family cannot provide any financial help or space for us. Our complex is the cheapest in the area, but we can’t afford a down payment to move regardless. None of our friends can house us, either because of a space issue or our pets.
We plan to be okay next month. We have to be, and our working our asses off to get there. We just have so much to pay this month that shouldn’t have been a problem and now is, and frankly, we are drowning.
To ease any worry, we are okay on food. Neither of us are starving, though we admit to being more cautious with how much we eat. We have two very good friends that have been providing for us over the last few months, and are very fortunate because of it.
I feel the need to be open about what any financial help will be spent on, so-- our rent, our phone bill, our internet bill, our utilities, our small credit debts from past bill payments, my medicine and hospital bills, and my work portfolio (which is my only source of income atm). Basically, bills. But I wanted to be clear, and honest: we are just two people in an unfortunate situation.
So, whether it be a reblog, a shoutout, or a financial contribution, we really appreciate it. Honestly. Neither of us are okay, and we already feel so indebted to everyone that has helped us in the last few months. But it’s appreciated.

Thank you all again, for so much.
Breakdown of the last ~4 months under a cut, just as some more background (or if you need proof, or a sob story, or whatever. I’ve never done this before.)
I left my then fairly longterm job because I received an offer for a fulltime position at another company. I liked my job, but the company was a mess, and my hours were being cut alongside the thousands of other employees. (Worked for the Mouse, if you were curious)
The second day I was at my new place work, I got permission to leave on my lunch because I was very ill and had a fever. I went to urgent care, and ended up having a sweltering 104 degree fever. I let my boss know I would be out the rest of the day and the next, and he approved. The next day, I received a text from my boss that the head boss “didn’t think my attendance was what they were looking for” (remember, it was my second day, and I had a dangerous fever, which both she and my supervisor were made aware of), and was promptly fired.
Spending 10 days bedridden with a fever that would only break for a few hours a day, I soon found out the company had never submitted any of my legal information, which means I was never officially employed despite working, and because of that I couldn’t submit for unemployment.
Shortly after, my girlfriend, who had been on a state mandated, legally approved disability for her physical and mental health, was illegally fired by her employer for “self termination”. We did seek legal action, but could not pursue it immediately due to our new financial stress.
After recovering for a month (as I could not physically leave the bed/couch), I began applying for jobs again, and had a few interviews. Most were promising but fell flat. I’ve been applying to jobs every day since, and have only seen any improvement once I changed my name (
My girlfriend started a new job which promised her a raise within a few weeks, which turned into a few months. Her wage was not as promised and we were broke for 3 months as I continued to struggle.
I ended up in the ER twice-- once in June, then once in July. The first was an entirely traumatic experience that forced me to undergo about 15 tests and biopsies, and I was left confusing every doctor as to what had caused it. I was fine following it, though was mentally put off because of the later developing fear of something more. My second trip was brought on by what I had thought was a heart attack from my stress, then once the panic settled, believed it was horrible food poisoning. I went in, was on IV and got more scans and tests, and with no results, was discharged with food poisoning. The next day I burst into a 102 degree fever and continued to be violently sick the week following, which only put me out of jobhunting again. It passed, but it left me with a gastro issue that I am continuing to deal with.
During this, my girlfriend had started her training for her promotion, all while being promised a raise and reimbursement for our phone and internet bills, since she was working from home 90% of the time. Once it came time for her to finish her training, take her certification test, and get promoted, her employers ghosted her for about a week, and then eventually let her know she was being let go due to budget cuts, and that they did not have the money to pay her. They still have not paid either our internet or our phone bills despite their constant promises, and both bills have now racked up multiple months of late fees because they were never taken care of.
So yet again, we are both unemployed and broke, but now have nearly $2000 of bills to pay, which doesn’t include my hospital bills which have only just started coming in.
Truly, if you can help in any way, it’s appreciated. We have been each other’s support systems these last two and half years, and losing our home and potentially all of our credit we’ve built up right before trying to move and get married will destroy us. We have both had so much loss and negativity, not even just these last few months, and we are just trying our best to continue seeing the good in life.

Hello everyone, I'm opening up a few full body chibi commissions, three slots only.
I am a little strapped for cash because I drive to school daily (hour and a half away from campus one way) and gas money/food bills are starting to add up a little. This is by no means a financial emergency.
I am only drawing full body, inked, and colored images, no lineart or sketches as of now.
Requirments:
I need a reference image, small tweaks can be made, but I would like to only stick to the reference image given to draw the picture.
I will only draw one character, no couples or pairs for right now.
Payment of 24 dollars has to be made in full through PayPal before I start the commission.
I have the right to ask to charge more if the drawing is very detailed.
I have two weeks from the day payment is submitted to complete the commission.
If you want the physical drawing sent to you through mail an additional 5 dollars will have to be added to the price for shipping and postage.
I WILL Draw:
Magical girls
Girls in general
OC's
Fan Art
Bikini's/lingerie
Animal ears/ tails.
I WILL
NOT
DRAW:
Gore/blood/violence
Nudity
Men/ Boys
Couples or two people.
Mecha/ robot
Furry's
A drawing that has no reference image (at least one)
I will not draw characters from descriptions at this time, sorry!
Like I usually mention, I say no to these requests not because I dislike anything about them, but because I am either uncomfortable with drawing it or do not feel confident enough/like I have the skills to draw it.
I am opening these commissions on DeviantArt and Instagram as well, so slots may or may not fill up.
Please message me with a reference image if you are interested and I will save your slot!
Slot one: Closed/ Completed
Slot two: Closed/ In progress
Slot three: Open
Thank you to the awesome people who comment and support my art and the new watchers that took interest in my drawings! <3

Strange Times in a Strange World
On March 15, 2020 the City of Calgary declared a state of emergency due to COVID-19. I hope that the measures that all levels of government is implementing will mean that Canada will not face the health crisis that Italy, China, and other parts of the world are experiencing. But for now, it means a changed world.
“Clue: The Musical” closed on March 7, after a successful run of three weekends. It turned out to be the third most successful show for Dewdney Players. Looking back, we were very lucky that the show was performed before COVID-19 got serious in Canada, because after the Alberta Government restricted gatherings of 250 people or more on March 12, 2020, live theatrical events, along with sporting events and concerts, were cancelled. This is devastating for all involved and my heart goes out to everyone who has put so much work into producing shows to find out suddenly that they cannot go ahead. My next show is “The Wizard of Oz” with Swamp Donkey Musical Theatre. I have been cast as the Wizard/Professor Marvel. We are supposed to go up mid-May, however this week, rehearsals have been cancelled and to me it is unclear if the show will even go ahead. I guess time will tell. I will miss my “Clue” family even more because of this.

But it’s not just my theatre world that this is impacting. In real estate, both my open houses this weekend were completely dead, and both these homes had had healthy amounts of traffic through them during previous open houses. I hear of cancelled showings and withdrawn listings from other agents and I wonder if we should even be showing homes at all. Due to the court only hearing emergency and urgent matters for the time being, it also appears my judicial listing will also not sell any time soon either! As for other business-generating activities, now is probably not the time to knock on doors and book appointments with private sellers. Meanwhile, as with any agent, I have fees and expenses to pay.
Film production is on hiatus due to the pandemic so there goes any hope of PA or BG work for the time being and a quiet year so far in that regard will continue.
I have also been seeking work as a brand ambassador. I had booked some shifts at the Calgary International Auto and Truck Show (March 11 – 15) and I was so excited, however it was during my first shift that the government announced the event restrictions and the show was shut down. We were sent home early and remaining shifts cancelled. It is unlikely that there will be any more brand ambassador work for a while.
I am starting to question my life choices. Is the universe punishing me for my life choices?
So far in Canada, the COVID-19 crisis is more of an economic crisis than a health crisis. For people like me who are self-employed and work on a freelance/casual basis, this crisis is even more harsh, because work itself becomes non-existent due to the social aspect of it. Further, we slip through the cracks for the EI and welfare programs due to not qualifying due to self-employment and gig economy work. I was declined by EI in the Fall due to being self-employed, but I just submitted a Request for Reconsideration of the decision. For Alberta Income Support it seems that you have to be in deep poverty to even be considered and a monthly payment doesn’t even cover a rent payment anyways. A guaranteed universal basic income would be awesome right now.
Mentally, I am at a point where I don’t even feel like going anywhere anymore. It is Spring and I feel like hibernating. The cold weather this past weekend didn’t help that’s for sure!
But every cloud has a silver lining. I feel that there is opportunity in isolation. There is the gift of time. With an open calendar there is no excuse to not get out running or go and ride my horse regularly. The tax deadline is looming, and it is time for Spring cleaning. There are still real estate business building activities that I can do that don’t involve meeting people in person or entering someone’s home. It is more important now than ever to keep in contact with friends and family even if you can’t see them in person. Now is also the perfect time to create - music, writing, art and cross stitch for me. No excuses not too.
For me personally, this is more of an economic crisis than a health crisis, though I worry about my parents – my father is 80. I wonder what the coming weeks have in store for me, my loved ones, Canada, and the world in general. How long will this last before things can return to normal? Will things return to normal? I guess we go day by day. Live in hope. Keep calm and carry on. And finally, don’t forget to wash your hands!

What DeviantART Taught Me
This is going to basically be my honest opinions and a bit of a rant, so if you don't like these kinds of things kindly ignore it  This is what DeviantART taught me in the 8 Years since I joined. First and foremost, DeviantART was my first art website that I joined and in the beginning I was only submitting photographs of my animals, as that seemed to be the only way to get any sort of commenting or feedback. It didn't matter to me whether or not it was one person commenting or even a few favorites, I was happy and appreciative. I started sharing my artwork, my stories, and my original characters, and quickly became enveloped in commissions. I ordered my first ever commission back in 2010 and was so grateful for the two artists that took upon my requests with such poorly drawn references. It was these people who inspired me to do better, to provide better references for my characters who deserved to have nice reference sheets and images.  Thank you to those people who helped me along this process in the beginning and were very kind and helpful in assuring me along in the process of creating and receiving artwork. The joy that was provided was something I never experienced and looking at my collection now, I can't believe how vast it is. Thank you to these people who made ordering artwork so incredible and such an enjoyable experience. And to those of you that have wronged me, I hope that you learn your lesson in life and I hope that Karma will come back around and bite you in the ass as you deserve what's coming to you. From these commissions blossomed relationships. It was from these commissioned based relationships that I took the plunge and became friends with many people here and we spoke often online. It was the first time I had ever flown to meet an online friend at a convention in Baltimore Maryland at Otakon, an anime convention. Thank you Newsha, Tifany, Amanda, Lavata, Luis, and Anna for meeting me and showing me that the life behind the screen was exactly the same person, and thank you for giving me the courage to meet you in person and experience and share your life and your art journey. (And the kick in the ass to attend conventions and welcome this hobby into my life as I had been nervous to try.) From these friends I have established life long friends who are very dear and important to me and I would never replace any of you for the world. We went through ups and downs and drama and unexpected surprises together which have etched its way into my life and have solidified my existence in their life as much as they are in mine. Perhaps it was from these amazing and reciprocated relationships that perhaps I was blind to the few toxic relationships that developed.  There were a few who would use me for my money or for the multitude of gifts that I would buy and mail their way out of kindness and willingness on my part. The constant asking for money that was promised to be repaid, or the "art trades" that would be completed with the things I sent as compensation were never met and it was really frustrating and depressing on my part. Thank you to you greedy souls for showing me that not every one of you is kind, ingratiating, and appreciative of my friendship and what I had to offer.  You showed me that my trust needs to be more reserved and I shouldn't always believe that the friends you make online are genuine and want the best for both parties involved. Everyone is human and no one is perfect, least of all me. But the way they treated their "friends" or even "customers" was unacceptable and it made me exceedingly bitter. I really hope to the people that have wronged me that you regret it one day and realize what you have done. I don't care for an apology, I just want the realization that you lost a good friend and you lost my trust. I am a loyal faithful person, but I won't be fooled time and time again by people who only want to use me and abuse my kindness.  On that note, I notice far too often people begging for free artwork, And even WORSE are the people who initiate friendships with other artists just to get free artwork. That is the most vile and disgusting thing you could ever do to another person, friend or not! How can you begin a friendship solely based on greed? Oh we are friends now so you should give me free commissions or art trades because I can't afford you normally? How does that sound ok to anyone? I have many friends who have had this situation occur to them, and you can ask ANYONE that I am friends with if I still pay my dues. The answer will be 100% yes. I don't ask for anything free, I am your friend first and foremost, but I will always support your trade and pay you for your work as that is your profession and how you make a living and I will never take that from you. I don't believe in using people just because we are friends and I think I deserve free shit.  Aaaaand with that comes under pricing and overpricing (and then people who don't pay for their commission altogether) I know many people haggle for lower prices, I even know of people here by name that will haggle and barter for the lowest possible price to pay artists and that makes me disgusted. Why would you demean an artist that way? Coming up with prices to sell your craft, art, whatever is really hard and frustrating! You never know if you are overcharing or undercharging and then someone you don't even know comes asking for a discount because "they can't afford it" or "I really REALLY like your work, please" that's just disgusting and pathetic to me.  If you can't afford someone, save up or move along. Pay the artist what they are worth. And pay your dues. I have seen far too many of my friends and fellow artists quit commissions because the clients either A) Didn't pay them. or B) were so rude and difficult to work with.  It breaks my heart to see people just quitting them altogether because people are so unjust or cheat them out of their hard earned time. And people that get offended when the artist expects payment upfront? It's called security. If they don't get half or at least all of the money they are running the risk of doing all this hard work for nothing. I hope no one has this experience but unfortunately it could happen to anyone on any website, anywhere. It's a sad reality that there are people out there wanting something for nothing and they aren't willing to pay the price of that "something". Support your artists. Support your friends. Support fair business. You wouldn't want to be cheated so why is it fair to cheat someone else? In the last few years I have contemplated leaving DA for an abundance of reasons and in my last journal I expressed that this website was depressing. Everything that I once really enjoyed about this website seems to be really dead. Now tons of people have their own reason for leaving DA (Bullies, Art Thieves finally getting to them, Lack of Popularity, etc.) For me I saw a decline in the quality of people that were joining DA and more or less the amount of trolls and rude thieving individuals who run rampant. Not to mention the large majority of untrustworthy artists opening commissions and scamming clients.  I never cared about getting a Daily Deviation, nor do I care about it to this day, but I hate the mentality that if you aren't popular on this website you aren't going anywhere. DeviantART really isn't ANYTHING.  DeviantART doesn't care about helping you grow as an individual or help your artwork blossom. All they care about is the growth of their absurd "Core" program and shoving as much money down their greedy throats with merchandise, and overpriced premiums that the standard person could not afford. When did this hobby website become such a money driven fool that you care nothing for your community and what others are asking for? Why did I take my OC's down from DA? Simple. I was tired of the "OMG your OC looks like (insert any random character from anything ever created here" or "Your OC looks like mine LOL" It's the most DISRESPECTFUL thing you can say to someone who has spent YEARS developing stories and original characters to be unique and special to you. I was tired of the comparisons in the commissions that I ordered and I just felt like DeviantART was not a great place to store my children any longer. And what made me even more upset were the people who flammed others for having an "all white cast" of characters. I was never called racist or anything but a friend of mine was called that for having all of her characters "pale white skin". I don't think there is anything wrong with having all white characters. You see your babies in one way, and you don't have to bend to other people's wishes so that your characters suit other peoples tastes or societies as a whole. Original Characters are my children and they deserve to be in a place that focus's on original characters and creativity more than it does high quality artwork and people with over 100,000K views on their page. That's why I moved all of my original characters to Toyhou.se and why you can no longer find my stories here on DA. I never felt completely comfortable sharing my stories on DA because anyone could just copy and paste that and I was terrified of being plagiarized. What I take away from this website is a lot of lessons learned, Improve your artwork for you only, don't do artwork because of what you expect others to love and praise. Be diligent in the work you owe others. If you are going to do something for someone, do it for the love of god and be honest and have good follow through.  Realize that people behind the screen aren't always as sweet and nice as they appear and watch for those that only wish to hurt and extract all that they can from you. Be grateful and down to earth. I don't care how popular you may be on social media but you are still a human being, you aren't gods gift to earth and treating your supports like dirt isn't going to get you anywhere in life and it causes so much unnecessary drama. Ignore trolls and those who seek to stir up shit for no reason. They aren't worth the time it takes you to reply to them or the breath you hold in anger. Don't let anyone use you for whatever reason, whether it be from sympathy or the yearning to have more friends. Don't. And always remember, everyone is human. Treat them as you wish to be treated yourself.... RaisloverSakura~

In Defense of the U.S. Mint
I just finished reading the letters in the Dec. 17 issue of Numismatic News and all the bashing of the mint once again.  I do not always agree with what the mint does all the time but it seems like it is a business no different from any other. I may be wrong but a business can choose to do what it likes and produce as many of an item as it wants.
I have been collecting since I was about 15 when my grandpa would put a quarter in my hand after school and I would take it home and put it in my collection. I got out of collecting for a time when times got tough but never lost my interest in the hobby.  Beginning in 1998, I decided to start collecting again and have since attained all the collection I had before and everything since. I love the hobby but, unfortunately, I cannot collect everything I would like to. This is the case of such coins as the 2019 Reverse Proof or the 1995-W silver eagle. Not everyone will be able to own it.  Not everyone has a 1955 double die cent either.  Get over it.
By the way, I told my son of the sale of the 2019s and we were both logged in at noon when it went on sale. We both had it in our cart. We had to refresh over six times before entering our payment and, yes, we both received one. We do not work for or buy for these premium sellers people talk about. Mine will be in my possession until after I am gone and I doubt if my wife will ever sell because she loves the design more than anything.

  W-Quarter Find
I just had to share this. I’m a long-time collector and a long-time reader of your publication. Anyway, my wife brought home a roll of Idaho quarters and when I started going through them, I was surprised to see they were all P’s. Living in Montana we get nothing but D’s. As I was going through them I was really surprised to find three W’s. I read the article about the finds in the last issue and figured all were sent east of the Mississippi. Anyway, thanks for letting me vent my excitement.

  U.S. Mint Fail
I have ordered mint and proof sets for over 50 years. I was sending in orders by mail up until a couple of years ago. They only take orders by phone or computer now so I had my daughter order me three mint sets that come with free pennies according to the flyer they mailed me. She ordered them online in August to be sent to me. After more than a month, I never received the mint sets or pennies. She checked the order and saw that it was never sent to shipping. She called the mint and they told her they would have to fill out a form for never receiving an order.
After not hearing anything from them or receiving the order, she called them again and received no real explanation. They just sent money back to her account. Needless to say, I will not be ordering anything from the Mint again.

  Double Date 1992 Lincoln Cent
While looking through a jar of pennies that my sister-in-law accumulated, I came across a 1992 Lincoln cent with a doubled date. I’m wondering if there are others out there.

  JFK Medal
I just received the 3 in. bronze JFK medal that I ordered from the U.S. Mint. The designer’s last name and the date at the bottom of the bust are strongly doubled. This may be of interest to others who own an example. The Mint’s 3 in. bronze medals are beautiful works of art.

  Error Find
I found an error cent about a month ago. I have a good friend that is the CEO of the San Diego Air and Space Museum, (Jim Kidrick). I was at his office a few months ago and they had a large bag of foreign coins that they get from a couple of different places in the museum. One for donations and one of those things that you put a coin in and it circles around while going down the drain.
As I was sorting them out for the museum, I found the error cent featured below. My only guess is that someone from around the world knew that they were going to the states and thought they’d take this with them, and then donated it to the museum.
It’s a weak strike different planchet cent. I guess the Philadelphia mint was minting coins for another country and it somehow got mixed up in there. I’m not sure what to do with it. I suppose I could submit it to a grading service.
