MEET SSICK, THE NEXT GENERATION ROCKSTARS — by Seospicy.

“Live is our thing."

The frontman of the trio that has been making a roar in the music industry, Han, boldly states.

"I’m not saying no other bands can touch us, but that’s our expertise. I think there are so many bands who are better than us at recording, writing songs, singing, and playing guitars or whatever, but in terms of creating an atmosphere I think we’re the best."

The confidence is backed by the number of people squeezing themselves into the pit and filling the entire venue to experience that atmosphere.

Lucky for them, the band will be more than happy to play all of their biggest hits. It's the 'SSICK' thing: giving people what they want.

Unlike other bands, they don't shy away from playing their hits in their show, one after another, and remembering that all of the tracks in their recent albums made it to the chart, they probably have to play the whole lot.

"People pay for tickets with their hard-earned money and they are willing to wait outside for hours to see us," the 23 years old Felix provides the simplest of reasons behind their hits-packed setlist.

Meeting Han at a college party back in 2018 and forming a band with him weeks later felt nothing less than him taking on the right path as he proudly admits that being a drummer for a rock band is his dream.

He fits the name of the band with his unique way of drumming, Felix confirmed that he learned a lot from watching Keith Moon who was famously known for his eccentric drum playing.

"It’s only right that we give them what they want!" Felix finishes with a gentle nod.

His bandmate's words only convinced Han that the show must go on. Ignoring their tour manager, Vin, who has given him three options to handle the situation: sing as normal, get the audience to help him sing, or pull the gig.

"We're not pulling the gig!" Han persists with a scarf tightly wrapped around his neck and regularly drinks his bottled water.

If Ssick has made it this far- two sold-out shows, a top 10 debut album, and a headliner for a festival this summer - it's all because of Han's work ethic, about which he’s earnest to the point of being endearing.

Half an hour before the show, the rest of the band again propose canceling the gig, Han won't even hear it but he's up for a compromise, he won't be playing instruments tonight.

"Hyunjin is so good. He plays like there’s 10 of him anyway," Han says and, at the same time, professes his admiration for Hyunjin's incendiary guitar skill.

As for Han, who gladly gave up playing guitar for the band and picks up the bass ever since, playfully adds, “I’ve hated guitar since I started. It hurts my hands. It’s heavy. It cost me money to buy when I was a kid. They break."

Hyunjin might have been the last to join but Ssick wasn't the first band he played with. He has toured with a band as an additional member, the experience helped him hone his skill that Felix and Han felt like they have to step up their game to get to his level of greatness.

However, the twin, what fans like to call them due to their birth dates only a day apart, stated that the band feels brand new the second Hyunjin decided to join and completed the triangle.

"I feel like they're the right people to create something together with," Hyunjin sheepishly talks for the first time during the interview.

Opposite to his explosive and electrifying stage act, Hyunjin is mostly quiet off the stage yet he doesn't refuse to tell the one thing we're all dying to know.

"First, they don't insist their music on me," he elegantly answers, legs crossed with his hand touching his lower lip.

"I've been with bands that already set their roots without my involvement so it's nice to finally be a part of something from the ground up," he adds.

It seems like it's the first time the other two learning about it too. It's this tender moment like this that can't be captured on camera that speaks the loudest.

Han bursts the silence by tapping Felix on the shoulder, "I thought you offered him money to make him join us," he jokes.

It's still a mystery what Felix did to appeal Hyunjin as he refuse to tell going into the details, but he surely did his job well.

The atmosphere is there the moment they step into the stage. They opened the show with their latest single and despite Han's voice is not at its hundred percent, he made it alright until the end of the first three songs.

With head bowed down, he apologized in advance to the people who made ten thousand tickets sold out in under twenty minutes for his unfit condition to carry a gig.

"I'll make sure everyone goes home with a beer tonight," he promises some sort of consolation, an unconventional one.

After playing their big radio hit, 'One', it's one that worked to make people's head turns and turn them into fans, it somehow rejuvenates him that everyone wondering what he apologized for.

But that doesn't mean he forgot about his promise, as everyone got a can of beer on their way out of the venue.

Considering that Han wrote most of the band's songs, no one doubted that it was coming from his pocket.

Instead of using the chance to brag, he chose to reminisce the time when Felix and him sitting on the carpeted floor of the tiny studio they rented from the old days, weeks after knowing their debut album shoots up to the fourth rank.

"I remember asking Felix, ‘Are we doing this right?’ and Felix went 'Ah, but we’re keeping our feet on the ground'."

Felix testifies to his story by nodding along to what Han saying.

"I said: ‘Isn’t that what rock ‘n’ roll’s about? Aren’t you supposed to lose your feet for a bit?’" Han concludes.

Well, rock and roll aren’t fueled by humility, after all; it’s fueled by guts, guitars, and guys with a hunger for more.

Stray Kids Random Astrology Observations

Note: I’m reading these by traditional standards, which includes, but is not limited to: ignoring cusps, using whole signs, and disregarding Uranus-Pluto for natal readings

Bang Chan:

I was really surprised to see no earth signs in his chart, considering how dependable he seems. All of that air energy could lead him to be quite flighty, but his Libra Sun/Moon/Mercury being ruled by a Venus in Scorpio is really helping ground him

Lee Know:

So as far as I’m aware, the purported birth time of Mr. Know is either 8 PM/AM….but it truly TRULY makes a difference considering Venus switches over during that day (and traditional astrology does not recognize cusps). Either his Scorpio Rising is being ruled by a Mars in Virgo, or his Gemini Rising is being ruled by a Mercury in Scorpio. Regardless, his plethora of Scorpio is being ruled by a Mars in Virgo, and as a Virgo enthusiast, I really like this for him. I think I’ll have to watch more of his stuff to determine which I think it is. 

Changbin:

I accidentally put April at first which left me very confused as to how another Aries existed in Stray Kids after Woojin was gone

Poor Changbinnie… his Mars and his Jupiter/Saturn causing so many squares in his chart. I won’t go as far as to say “misunderstood”, but homeboy definitely has an “inner saboteur” (especially with that Sun combust Moon). That being said, I find a lot of the most interesting people/celebrities are the ones with squares- it adds dynamics. 

Hyunjin:

A funnel chart! I have one of these myself, so I feel like we just ~get each other~ xD Seriously though, his funnel handle is a Moon in Virgo, so when shit goes south in his life, it seems like he relies on turning inwards 

Han:

More Virgos! Although this time, there’s almost nothing else supporting that Virgo placement (and it’s being ruled by a Mercury in Libra)... I’d bet dollars to donuts that his rising isn’t in an earth sign either. I’m leaning either Leo or Aquarius Rising, with a slight preference for Leo. 

Felix:

And here boys and girls we can see what difference a Moon sign can make. Also surprised to see almost exclusively Fire/Air in his chart (barring that Sun in Virgo). Though, with the clips I’ve seen of this boy just absolutely blubbering, my guess is he’s got a water sign rising. Cancer perhaps? 

Seungmin:

Not for nothing, but Seungmin reminds me of Youngjae from GOT7. Without a birth time, we can’t actually even be sure he’s a Virgo, but I’m hard pressed to say he’s not due to that comparison alone. (Edit: ran the times; he squeaks in as a Virgo regardless) For a rare change of pace, it’s fire signs that seem to be lacking here, nor are there any fixed signs. He’s the anti-Leo, if you will.

I.N.:

If Seungmin has none of that fixed sign stubbornness, then don’t worry, because I.N. definitely makes up for that. Like Changbin, he’s also got a lot of squares going on, but this time it’s across the whole wheel. There’s something about his random Mars in Scorpio that just reads as “brat” to me instead of “warrior” like the placement would usually indicate, but maybe that’s just the maknae tinted glasses coming in.

when upset, he becomes restless and would rather fly far away than engage in an emotionally frustrating confrontation. he can get angry easily and doesn't hide it. people tend to know when he's upset, he can't hide any of his feelings, positive or negative. if he needs to take part in conflict with someone, he does so through blunt and unfiltered opinions. type of person who has an opinion on everything and completely believes in his own morals. usually, he's good at getting people to see his point of view because he's so passionate about what he's talking about. he may be easily irritated or upset by the actions of others. chris almost never takes advice from others. he may have some sort of "guilt complex", tho.

minho has great clarity in his thoughts and actual worldview, suppressing most feelings of anger. for him, it's more common for negative emotions to come from people who don't live up to his expectations, rather than anything else. he sets standards in his mind for how people should behave, and of course people rarely meet those standards. he may be afraid to open up to others and speak up because he fears that people will use his feelings to turn against him and let negativity boil over. as a result, he may have a tendency to suppress anger and resentment, which will only lead to outbursts of intense feelings.

when emotions are involved, he frequently loses control of his temper and overreacts. becoming very defensive about himself, taking things personally and harboring a lot of resentment. when he fails to appropriately convey his sentiments, frustration builds. at times, he may show signs of physical discomfort due to an internal conflict between what emotionally stimulates him and what he feels ready to do. he gets frustrated when he tries to get emotional satisfaction through his will to act.

he puts himself first when making decisions and only do what makes the utmost sense to him. having a strong sense of self, he knows who he is and how he should be treated by others. when it comes to wrathfulness, he has quick meltdowns but his feelings of anger tend to subside snappily. he deals with his feelings honestly and face it directly. because he likes to live in the moment instead of in the past. he may display moments of yelling and cursing when dealing with frustrations. yet, he gets over it quickly and don't hold grudges.

he's logical and practical. he's critical of himself and others, but he despises rudeness and will not go out of his way to reafirm himself. when irritated, though, it might be difficult to be with him because of his proclivity to complain about it.

he has a fiery mind, is opinionated, clever, and sharp-tongued. his disappointment stems from unfulfilled goals, just like minho's. when he expresses himself, he tries to be as direct as possible. innie wishes that individuals would convey their points more quickly. he never plans on searing anyone, but it could occur. when he doesn't feel understood, he might become irritable, and he has a tendency to refuse to admit when he's wrong. essentially, strives to resolve conflicts quickly and in a direct and honest manner.

The 'shadow' aspects for...

Mingi:

His Virgo Venus in retrograde means he struggles with making decisions and being active in personal relationships which can cause a power imbalance.

He is also attracted to partners with a 'parental' energy and wants to be 'babied' in a way, IF he's attracted to women and that is IF!!! Then he'd be attracted to women who 'mother' him in a way.

Han & Felix:

I always combine these two together because they both have identical natal charts except for Han being a Pisces and Felix being an Aries Moon.

Han and Felix both have Moon signs that struggle with being able to effectively resolve conflict in an adult relationship, Han's Pisces Moon means he's more prone to avoidance and simply choosing to walk away rather than help resolve the issue.

Felix's Aries Moon makes him rather defensive and this can escalate into creating further arguments over irrelevant issues to distract from the real reason you are arguing.

San:

His Cancer Sun/Leo Venus means he can play the 'victim' card to a perfect T and would probably be a master at gaslighting.

He gets obsessed easily but he also gets bored easily so he is prone to absolutely lovebombing you and then ghosting you once the endorphins fade away.

trying to guess stray kids rising signs because i’m bored

(wrote a whole essay for hyunjins because his chart is to confusing) ALSO I AM NOT A PROFESSIONAL. THIS IS JUST SOMETHING FUN I WANTED TO DO. also probably some grammar mistakes i’m sorry😪

bangchan- confirmed gemini rising!❤️it really comes out when he has to talk in award shows and or interviews because he’s always given me a very social person (i hope that makes sense)

lee know- confirmed gemini or scorpio rising (i feel like he’s more of a gemini rising) even though they are more know to be sociable (like i said for bangchan) i think his HEAVY SCORPIO PLACEMENTS makes him much more of a quiet person when it comes to meeting new people.

changbin-taurus rising. i know he gives off scorpio rising to a lot of people but he’s never given me the intense aura scorpios do (i mean you can usually tell when someone has scorpio placements in their chart) he’s always given me that very approachable, cancer like energy. which could come from his cancer mercury. so to go with that i would say taurus or maybe (very unlikely though) cancer rising.

hyunjin- okay. this is the one i keep going all over the place for. because, depending on the time. he could be a libra moon, and even more instead of a pisces sun, a aries sun. (if they do a fancall someone please ask him for his birth time 😪) i’m just going to say, i did consider him a taurus rising at one point but it just didn’t fit to me. he’s very hard working like one but i think it comes from his virgo moon. he doesn’t really give me a leo rising either. (i know his hair is a big thing but still, he’s never given me that. besides people talk about his hair more than he does himself.) personally, i think he’s a sagittarius rising or cancer rising. while i don’t think his midheaven is in virgo (he definitely has a fire sign mid heaven, but maybe it’s just the mars in aries, possible aries sun, or even the possible fire sign rising in him making me think that) i think he fits more of a cancer rising. his midheaven would be in aries which, to me makes more sense than virgo if he was a sagittarius rising. midheaven is usually all about career, so with his aries midheaven he’s very firery on stage, which is very true! also cancers are know for their rounder faces like the moon, (example itzy’s chaeryeong) and sometimes hyunjins face seems rounder (mainly in predebut photos/ videos.) plus his visuals are very soft, which could come from all that pisces in him!😭 this is to hard with so many factors to consider. (if you couldn’t tell i have a cancer moon and rising😭)

han-okay, i can only picture han with TWO rising signs. aquarius or leo. honestly after hyunjin, his rising sign is so confusing for me too… he has the possible chance to have the exact same chart as felix but they give really different vibes in the way that i know that han is a pisces moon. someone please ask them for their birth times!!

felix-maybe it’s the libra mercury and venus BUT, he just gives me libra rising. in interviews a lot he’s much more calm, with still having a personality that makes everyone wanna be around him. i’m sorry i don’t know any libras so this might not be accurate for him and chan! my second guess is cancer. i don’t have an explanation for this one but i get that vibe off of him too. (like hyunjin)

seungminn-okay so. majority of the placements in our charts are trine (besides our conjunct moons and his venus being libra with mine in pisces) i don’t why i had to mention that but i did.😭 but with that said i can only see seungmin with three rising signs: taurus, gemini, sagittarius. i know a a few people with sagittarius placements and they act like him so much it’s crazy😭 with taurus, he is really calm! i have never seen him get crazy all that much. which is the same thing i have seen with alot of taurus risings (example seulgi from red velvet, i don’t see her ever get to loud) and with gemini, again i don’t know i just wouldn’t be surprised if he was like a lot people in stray kids.

i.n-okay, three options again. sagittarius, capricorn, or aries. with aries it might be his aries venus but i know a lot of aries and they act just like him (karina from æspa also has a aries venus and you can see it with her cancer moon but that���s a story for another) he’s usually, well specially during video on the skz chanel, doing his own thing and keeping to himself. which i have noticed a lot of people with aries placements do. now with sagittarius, again i don’t have a explanation for this one, just gut feelings (i am no professional in astrology just have to clarify). capricorn, again that independence, and also very down to earth like one. edit: nevermind i can see him being a taurus rising, idk why but i js thought of it
