Kit Connor: Heartstopper star 'forced' to come out as bisexual
This is honestly so toxic.
Real people can't queerbait - they're just living their lives. There are risks and negatives to coming out still, and we also don't know how someone's family will react.
Also, sexuality is a fluid thing - or can be - people experiment, and should be allowed to do this without being jumped on.
On the one hand, I get the idea that people want queer characters played by queer actors. On the other hand, things like this will actively stop queer stories from being made, particularly queer stories about young people, because who wants to put a teenager through this?
It also just reinforces toxic behaviour in real life. Noone owes you their sexuality, or an explanation of their sexuality. And that goes double when they may still be figuring it out.

hellooooo my friend! if you're still taking prompts, may i ask for piarles + 22 (fake dating) please? 😍🤭😍
I feel like I'm stepping in Sol's sandbox rn I won't lie to you.
this is a warning for a forced outing.
The first tweet comes out while they're in their cars - driving tight lines around the streets of Monaco so Charles doesn't see it until after. Until after the podium. Until after the team has met and put together options for him.
He knows the options are good. He knows that they have his best interests at heart or whatever, but he knows that the longer he sits frozen, the worse it gets because their phones keep buzzing and he assumes that it's more tweets. He knows there are more tweets.
If he wasn't so...this wasn't supposed to happen. The first boy you fall in love with - the person you think is your forever shouldn't put your fucking dick on the internet and the texts you sent him in the middle of the night begging him to be beside you - inside of you. But, that's how it's happened and later he can cry. Later he can fall apart, but right now he needs to...decide how to handle this...
"Where is he?" Pierre shouts from somewhere outside of this room and Charles doesn't want him here because he knows that he'll crumble. If Pierre comes in here, he will crumble.
He's going to say no - he's going to turn to Joris and ask him to keep him out, but the door ricochets off the wall and Pierre is standing there - panting and soaked through still and furious.
Pierre shrugs off one of the media people and he crosses the room with long steps, reaching for Charles and Charles hates that the sight of him does bring him comfort, but it allows him to feel.
Pierre doesn't pull him up. Instead he drops down to his knees in front of Charles, giving Joris a tight nod. Charles can see Ilies hovering in the doorway, arms crossed over his chest.
"Cha," Pierre says his name gently, even though he's vibrating with anger, "have you said anything yet?"
Charles shakes his head no. Of course not, it's been mere minutes. He's barely caught up with what's happened.
"Good," Pierre nods his head and twists to glare at the Ferrari team. "It's me."
Ilies puts his head in his hands and Charles hears Joris inhale sharply.
"That's what you're going to say. That someone hacked our messages and those were to me - his long term boyfriend. You're going to -"
"Pierre -" Ilies says, but Pierre holds his hand up.
"I'll leak something from me so it's believable, but you're going to say that it's the two of us and that you're disgusted by the fact that someone would -"
"There's no names." Joris says, sounding like he's in shock. "It would work. The two of them have enough public appearances together and it could work."
One of the media team members leans up, "We cannot have two gay -"
"I will leak my own nudes, mate." Pierre spits. "Put a package together. Alpine is waiting for you right outside so go and deal with it together so i can comfort my boyfriend."
Pierre turns back around and reaches up to wipe at the tears tumbling down Charles' face with one hand and keeping a tight hold of Charles' hands with his other.
"You can't -" Charles starts to say, but Pierre shushes him.
"I can, Charlo and I will." Pierre brushes his thumb over his bottom lip. "Anything for you always."

Ryan Adamczeski at The Advocate:
Forced outing has devastating consequences for LGBTQ+ people, and queer youth are at an even greater risk. One-third of LGBTQ+ minors who were outed without their consent were more likely to experience depression, as well as face less support from their families, according to a new study from the University of Connecticut. Two-thirds said that the event caused significant stress. Outing is the act of revealing a person's sexual orientation or gender identity without their consent. The UConn study analyzed responses from 9,200 queer youth ages 13 to 17 in the Human Rights Campaign's 2017 LGBTQ National Teen Survey which showed a correlation between outing and stress.
The data also showed that LGBTQ+ youth experience stress from outing differently, as transgender, nonbinary, and asexual respondents reported higher stress levels than cisgender gay, lesbian and bisexual participants. In all cases, respondents reported lower stress when they also reported have parents or guardians who are educated on sexuality and gender identity. More than 550 anti-LGBTQ+ bills were introduced across the U.S. in 2023, and 80 were passed into law. In 2024, 487 anti-LGBTQ+ bills have been introduced and 20 have passed into law, according to the American Civil Liberties Union. There are currently five states that mandate schools report transgender children to their parents if they request to go by a different name or pronouns. Another six “promote” forced outing, according to the Movement Advancement Project.
A new study from UCONN that came out reveals that anti-LGBTQ+ forced outing policies lead to higher rates of depression and familial rejection among LGBTQ+ youths.

how in the fuck do yall expect to get more queer content when every time a queer show or movie comes out you harass everyone involved like i dont give a shit how self-righteous you think you’re being by forcing this “queer content should be made by queer people” bullshit all you’re doing is fucking the whole community over. you’re literally harassing our own people and giving them reasons NOT to keep creating queer stuff
the more you harass creators and actors of queer content into coming out of the closet when they don’t want to, the less queer people are going to want to make queer things
you’re all fucking idiots on top of being giant assholes

Snippet Tag
asdfghjkl thanks for the tag @stellanslashgeode !
I actually burned myself the heck out these last few weeks and haven't been writing much nitearmor, buuuut there's no time like the present. Here's a nitearmor piece I'm throwing together based off another random note I texted myself at 0200 this morning!
Can also be seen as a rewrite of my very first fic: A Moment of Peace
no pressure tag: @armoralor
Bo-Katan's muscles were tense, aching under the skin. For the first time since she realized who she was meant to be, her body felt wrong. Bruises dented the side of her face, and a cut trailed blood from the bridge of her nose and down her lips, dripping from her chin and onto her chest plate.
The Armorer had already snapped her nose back into place before they'd made it onto the gauntlet, the silence had hung thick between the two Mandalorians as The Armorer brought the ship to the landing on Nevarro. Everyone else had already returned, making the two leaders the odd ones out.
The shaders came in to darken the transparisteel viewports, though neither woman made any move to open the ramp, or to exit in general.
The Armorer stood, approaching Bo-Katan's seat on the turrets. Her helmet was fixed to the field casted hand, broken bones wrapped under layers of a biocast and gauze.
"I get it, if you want to go back without me," Bo spoke finally, her own gaze fixed hard on her useless hand. How could any of them want her around, after Gideon outed her so openly? Again. It had taken her too long to heal physically and emotionally from the last time he'd outed her to her Niteowls, and Korkie, before his death. Had taken her so long to earn back the trust of her people (even if they did leave once she failed at retrieving the darksaber again).
"You are the Mand'alor," The Armorer reminded, dropping to one knee in front of Bo-Katan. The med-pack was secured to her belt, giving her easy reach to grab a disinfectant wipe to start cleaning the blood from her face. "There is nobody to truly oppose your stake,"
"The darksaber is gone..." She pointed out bitterly, face twisting in a minor wince when her broken hand flexed to prove the point. The hilt and kyber were lost to the flames, as far as everyone knew so far.
"Perhaps we have put too much faith in an artifact from the bygone era of Mandalorians' killing Jedi, and each other. You will help lead us into a new age, Lady Kryze," The golden helmeted warrior assured as bacta was applied to the wounds scattered across pale skin. "Where else are you injured?"
"What..?" Bo questioned dumbly, her eyebrows furrowing as a spark of fire ignited in her veins. "How can you still call me that?" she spat, though the venom in her tone was not to the gentle hand on her face, but directed to herself, the anger in yellow-green eyes mirrored in a dark visor were towards her reflection, instead of the woman inside.
The Armorer's head was turned up to her, gloved hands sitting on her knees. The silence hung thick, prompting the redhead to elaborate. "How can you still call me that, knowing what you know now?" The sewer drake was out of the bag, it didn't make sense that they'd all just keep calling her... her, when Gideon exposed her truth.
"Would you prefer I call you something else?"
"No! I... but," Bo paused, her uninjured hand gripping around the edge of her thigh plate, her leg bouncing even under The Armorer's steady hands.
"Lady Kryze," A hand raised from her knee, to cup her jaw. "It is who you are, now. You have chosen the destiny you wish to walk, the specifics of your birth are not for anyone else to know, as long as you are capable. Despite whatever you'd told yourself, you are an excellent leader, and exactly who Mandalore needs to help it rebuild."
Bo-Katan swallowed a lump in her throat, unbidden tears burning at her eyes as her head turned away. "Our people are not bigoted enough to refuse a good leader when they are given one, no matter their past," Which was shown in truth enough by the Children of the Watch accepting her leadership on each excursion since Din Djarin brought her there. "You walk both worlds, Lady Kryze, only you can unite us,"
The echo of words from days prior only made the hint of a smile pull at chapped lips, and Bo sighed, finally relaxing. "This is the way," She echoed back, not as hollowly as she had every other time she'd spoken the words around their people.
The Armorer's voice was soft as she returned the phrase, before helping Bo-Katan figure out the rest of her armor so she could help treat her other injuries from the battle, and take another look at her hand.

Bad Buddy reactions thru ep10
This will cover episodes 6-10 so please try to understand how many feelings I'm trying to condense down into a single post before we finish tomorrow lol sob
Inkpa Pa is so valid for telling a tall girl that "taller than me" is her only dating requirement, and Ink is so valid for immediately taking that as an opportunity to flirt. And to make sure Pa knew she was flirting, unlike Pa who kinda pratfell into it. Lmao just a delightful scene all around. I also loved their earlier not-date, where they almost knocked the entire table over. Clumsy girl representation, baby!! There's just something so refreshingly familiar and true-to-life about both women. I can't wait to check out Magic of Zero for more of them. Like, Ink's face moles are so pretty, and she's so dashing, and she has liked the same girl since high school and fought to be her peer mentor to get to spend more time with her. Like. Can you imagine being Pa. Didn't even need that glow-up girl, take those contacts back out
Pat/Pran, public vs. private Something I was really enjoying before Wai outed Pat/Pran was the portrayal of their different feelings about a public relationship. Pat's straining desire to brag about his cute boyfriend (sidenote: the scene where Pran tried to feed him and Pat ran back to his room to giggle and kick his feet on the bed was the absolute most), in conflict with Pran's desire for privacy and discretion. I appreciated that they understood each other, and were sincerely trying to find a balance between what they both wanted without any resentment for their differing responses. So it obviously super sucks that they were forcibly outed instead! I can't read Wai as anything but stupid in love with Pran, and that at least explains why his behavior was so extremely extra that whole time (so extra that inspirational sports couldn't even bring him around. It took a fuckin shoot out! my dude), but it doesn't excuse it. Fuck you forever sir. That said. It is incredibly characteristically hilarious that the way they got exposed as boyfriends to the entire student body was.... Pat shoving Pran's head into his stinky armpits. Like that's truly their love language. Nothing else compares.
I have even more to say about public/private stuff so let's continue behind a cut lol. Ok so public proposals. Pat demanded Pran do a love confession in exchange for his help being in the play, and we all knew there was no chance in hell that Pran would do it. Pat knew there was no chance in hell that Pran would do it. Like, he claimed he demanded it because they had that whole "let's edge each other with romantic behavior until someone breaks" competition going and this was his chance to win big, he just loves seeing Pran's face when he loses to him... but he made it apparent the very next day is what he actually loves seeing is Pran's face when he's pestered to death by Pat, lol. Pat can lose to Pran, he does it often, but what he absolutely cannot do is leave him alone when there's an opportunity to tease or pester or bother or annoy. :') Anyway, I found all that very sweet, but! What I found even sweeter! Was Pran and his entire department setting Pat up for the actual public proposal of Pat's dreams! Because even if he was being a butthead when he demanded it of Pran, you know deep down he wished "yelling I love you in front of everyone" was something they could actually have. So I love that Pran gave him that platform, but on Pran's terms, when Pran was ready to be in the spotlight that way. It was like... a grand gesture where Pat was the one announcing his love, but the very act of Pran setting up the space for him to do it was a pretty huge gesture of its own. <3
Last thing I'll say on privacy and outings and whatnot goes back to what I was saying last time about Pat and Pran's rivalry as a metaphor for society, and homophobia. Coming out - or being outed 😟- to your school and friends is not the same thing as coming out, or being outed 😟, to your family or parents. Just v interesting how different the stakes were in this show for Pat and Pran's relationship getting exposed to those two different spheres. The textual focus of their being outed was not at all on their sexuality, but it really resonated that exact same way.
Entirely valid of Pran to want be a gender role-neutral couple instead of husband/wife, I support him fully, but! Every time the narrative tells me Pat can't be the wife or shouldn't be the wife I get a lil defensive. He is literally a baseball mom, hdu! Okay this is just me reiterating that Pat should get to wear a dress and simper to his heart's content.
Ah there were so many little moments I wanted to comment on; should probably just do a gifset deep dive tomorrow. One scene I wanna just quickly shout out was when Pat went to grab Pran's hand as they were heading out of their rooms for the first time, Pran freaked out and withdrew, then apologized and said "just give me time to adjust." And a moment later, he had adjusted <3 that's so real! That's sometimes all it takes! Respect my space, give me time, okay turns out the only time I needed was a second to recalibrate, I'm good now.
Secret family history Last but not least I'll talk reallll quick about the family drama reveal. HUGELY relieved that Ming and Dissaya's drama wasn't a messy breakup. FASCINATING that what went wrong between their families was actually a male friend benefiting from fucking over his female friend, never taking any real ownership of it because that would require losing face, and letting it fester into something he passed down to his son. Like maybe eps 11 and 12 will complicate this history, but it's intriguing to me right now that this isn't a case of grievances on both sides, but of Ming not only leaning into the friend divorce but actively pushing his son to uphold it, like he was helpless in the face of his own men's wrongs to do anything but pass them down to his kid. Especially intriguing because it kind of mirrors the Architecture vs. Engineering dynamic at the beginning of the series, when Engineering behaved like bullies, repeatedly, and Architecture just kind of defended themselves. Engineering - and originally, Pat's - justification for first starting all this shit (and continuing it way past when it made any sense to keep going)? They had to maintain their reputation! Even after the departments worked things out, the difference in their original grievances and aggression was never confronted, so it's been on my mind. Idk idk something something Ming passing down his toxic masculinity to Pat, where how you appear to others is more important than making up for wrongdoings or resolving conflict, and Pat ended up in the Toxic Masculinity Department until Pran started wooing him to spend more and more time in Architecture. NOT trying to force them back into the gender roles Pran rejected (Pran I promise baby), just trying to say something about what they inherited from their parents. Pran had his mother's grudge-holding anger and stubbornness passed down, but a lot of Pat and his department's worst behaviors really feel like a mirror image of his dad's big reveal. Am I making any sense. this post took like 3 hours to write lol I'm just gonna hit post

I do wonder how much of the entitled attitude that says that all artistic creators making queer content need to be out to be valid, the ones attacking and pressuring supposed “straight” artists, are doing it simply because they are part of a younger generation that thinks that everyone should be out.   That has grown up without being around many closeted people, hasn’t seen the real negative consequences of outings, that live with the privilege won for them by the fights of previous generations.
Like, I realize this sounds very much like a “kids these days” kinda post, but look I’m glad that kids can be out in high school and that parents are far more supportive these days, and not as many people get fired for being queer.  (Let’s face it this is far more true for gay people than trans people as well.)  But when I was young the only out friend I had in high school was expelled because her girlfriend’s parents complained.
And hey, name out gay actors off the top of your head.  How many hands did you need?  The industry has a BAD track record when it comes to casting out folks, or anyone who is more than vague about their attraction.  (Ironically being bi I think carries less stigma in entertainment because people tend to just translate it as “slut”, at least for women.)
So once again, I beg people to understand that their experience isn’t universal and they don’t know everything.  People’s lives are complicated, ESPECIALLY when they are in the public eye and when they are CONSTANTLY in a state of job interviews.  Imagine your every move being scrutinized by your next employer, and needing to find a new job every six months.  Are you totally open and out in job interviews?  Do you wear all your rainbow gear? Why not?
Cut people some slack!

Rebel Wilson’s Forced Outing Is a Special Kind of Betrayal | The Mary Sue
Rebel Wilson’s forced outing has been one of the most depressing stories in this very chaotic Pride month, from the 31 men arrested in Idaho, who are believed to be linked to a White nationalist group that had plans to riot at a weekend Pride event, to the continued destruction of trans rights that the GOP is willing playing into and comedians continuing to keep their boring careers relevant by attacking a vulnerable community.
All of those things are powerful external forces. With what happened to Wilson, the call coming from inside the house. On Saturday, Sydney Morning Herald journalist Andrew Hornery published an article about Rebel Wilson being in a same-sex relationship with Ramona Agruma, complete with snarky comments about her age and how she had presented herself as straight previously.
“This is understood to be Wilson’s first same-sex relationships, at age 42 and in an era when same-sex marriage is legal in many parts of the world and — thanks to decades of battling for equality — sexual orientation is no longer something to be hidden, even in Hollywood,” Hornery wrote with quill in-hand. “Up to now, Wilson had identified publicly as a heterosexual woman. It is unlikely she would have experienced the sort of discrimination let alone homophobia – subconscious or overt – that sadly still affects so many gay, lesbian and non-hetero people.”
The article has been taken down, with Hornery issuing an “apology”, but screenshots have been taken, and this particular passage has been lingering in my mind: “It is unlikely she would have experienced the sort of discrimination let alone homophobia – subconscious or overt – that sadly still affects so many gay, lesbian and non-hetero people.” Hornery said in his apology,

Daniel Villarreal at LGBTQ Nation:
Colorado’s Supreme Court has said that an anti-LGBTQ+ “parents’ rights” group may start collecting signatures to approve Ballot Measure 142, a proposed law that would require schools to out transgender students to their potentially unsupportive parents. The group now has until August to collect about 125,000 signatures needed to get the measure on the November general election ballot.
The Colorado Parent Advocacy Network (CPAN) — a group who believe that a “radical agenda” of “indoctrination” in schools has “exploited” children by teaching them “x-rated sex acts” and giving them access to gender-affirming care — wants voters to support a law that would public school representatives to notify a student’s parents if their child experiences gender incongruence (that is, identification with a gender different from the one they were assigned at birth. “We believe this measure is so supportive of our kiddos that do identify as LGBT,” Lori Gimelshteyn, CPAN’s executive director told KUSA. Gimelshteyn helped write the ballot initiative. It reads: “Any public school representative who obtains information that a child enrolled in their public school is experiencing gender incongruence shall notify the child’s parents within 48 hours of receiving such information.”
“Do people not have anything to do than to interfere in the lives of someone that’s different from them?” said Mardi Moore, executive director of Out Boulder County, the local LGBTQ+ advocacy organization. “This is specifically an anti-LGBTQ initiative. The folks behind it have been clear.” The initiative is similar to policies passed by other conservative school boards nationwide. School districts in California, New Jersey, and Florida have similar policies requiring educators to out their LGBTQ+ students. Indiana signed a similar student-outing policy into law last May.  Similar policies require school officials to notify parents and guardians if their child requests to use a name, gendered pronouns, or gendered school facilities (such as bathrooms or locker rooms) that don’t match the sex they were assigned at birth. The policy requires officials to communicate the child’s gender identity to their parents, even if the child doesn’t consent.
Colorado allows anti-LGBTQ+ extremist "parental rights" group Colorado Parent Advocacy Network's pro-forced outing ballot measure item Measure 142 to collect signatures to get placed on the ballot in November.
