I'm trying to wrap my head around why Taylor and Casey (the author of the book and co-author of the new script) seem to be okay with Nick's behavior. On one hand, both are familiar with a life in the closet. Casey mentioned that they used to be in the closet before writing their first book and we know that Taylor is still kind of in a glass closet. But Nick actively avoiding RWRB like the plague seems like a step above all that. Would him acknowledging the sequel really damage his reputation that badly? I don't know, my only hope is that he congratulated them privately at least.
What do you think, why does Taylor not feel the need to stunt or declare himself as straight? He also wants to make it big in Hollywood but he seems to value his integrity as well, which I find really admirable.
Maybe there's also a factor in how they look? Taylor looks more stereotypically masculine and gives off a dominant vibe. I haven't seen people making jokes about him being queer or bottoming. Him being not straight is usually only mentioned when people talk about his alleged husband. Meanwhile, Nick still gets those jokes even though he came out as "straight'.
Hi, anon!
I just need to state, yet again, that i don't agree that Nick is avoiding RWRB like the plague (or else i'll get anons about it). Except for tweeting about the glaad win, i think he's doing what's agreed upon. Also, why would Nick need to congratulate them privately, it's just as much his win as theirs, just because he wasn't there.
I think Nick and Taylor are different persons in different situations with different goals, ambitions and boundaries. Taylor is married and doesn’t want to actively lie about his sexuality or push a fake narrative. At least not yet. He doesn’t hide his husband, but he hasn't gone public with him either.
I think Taylor wants to make himself as successful as he can be within the boundaries he's set. I don't think he's willing to get a beard and pretend to be straight, and state that publicly.
Taylor doesn’t look stereotypically masculine, he looks like a gay model. I also don't get a very dominant vibe off him either.
I think Nick is different from Taylor because he's percieved to be single. Stating you sexuality as straight, when things point to that not being true, is pretty pointless. Being married quitets jokes and speculation. I also think it's to do with Nick being more visible and exposed than Taylor is.
