être* - to be

avoir* - to have

vouloir* - to want

avoir besoin de** - to need

penser - to think

dire* - to say

savoir* - to know

aider - to help

aimer - to like

aller* - to go

*=irregular conjugation

**=most commonly used term, others exist (in this case, “to need” can also be demander, nécessiter, or requérir! i may make a post about this in the future)

I was thinking about this and I'm curious to know, so I'm making a messy multilingual poll.

The poll question in Czech:

Kolik let je tomu nejstaršímu člověku, kterému tykáte a který NENÍ členem vaší rodiny?

And in French:

It can be any language with the same dichotomy, it doesn't have to be Czech or French, they just happen to be those that I speak.

If you want to, it'll be nice if you could share your own age in the tags (just an age range is fine, no need to tell me the exact number) to see how big the gap is. (I didn't want to make a poll with billion options...)

Edit: Just to be clear, I mean a specific person in your life with whom you speak, not what you would do in general.

Also, I fucking forgot 60-70, so in that case vote for what you think fits better...

It's very soft isn't it! I'm always on the hunt for non-itchy jumpers. This one is Mascarille-approved, she tries to knead it all the time, only to get thwarted and redirected to more appropriate dough (the communal cat blanket).

#ask #in french we say a pull for a sweater / jumper because pullover is too long and we always strive to nounify english wherever possible #i find it funny that english is so into verbs it takes french nouns with a clear noun ending to use as verbs #(to camouflage; to massage; purée > pureeing; buffet > buffeting etc)#while french likes nouns so much it takes english verb forms with an unmistakable present participle ending and #plops an article in front of them to make them nouns e.g. le pressing le smoking le shampooing...

would akechi speak multiple languages? cause at this point its basically canon that he soaks up information like a sponge. would he go all out and get dictionaries and textbooks and pronunciation guides or would he be able to learn just from watching shows in the target language?

im asking bc i wanna know if he would memorize every single verb tense in french. 99% of them are unnecessary, useless, needlessly specific, and so similar to like five others. but would akechi be able to use them properly.

hey im new to language learning on tumblr but can anyone rec me the best way out of romance languages? like what non-romance lang to start learning if ik or am already working on like spanish french portuguese?

Ok. part 2 of this idea:

making some silly collages. very fun. the idea is “debris” — stuff the Yellowjackets would have in their pockets, lockers, or backpacks. because I like thinking about pre-crash Yellowjackets. I want to try to make one for all of them, but here’s Jackie :)

theres a turn of phrase i use that im pretty sure is neither english nor dutch and also warps the function of the word 'right' in both languages at the same time but i keep using it bc it's just quicker than any other way and im a writer of shortcuts
