Mi pareva strano che non mi capitasse, da queste parti. Alla fine, è successo: mi sono innamorata. E l’ #amore fa bene: rende liberi e belli (vedi foto n.1, in cui sembro una diva, ma la posa non è una posa, bensì un fermo immagine di uno di quei momenti in cui mi dimeno per evitare un obiettivo). #Viaggiare è vivere, come diceva quell’anello che ho portato a lungo, regalatomi da una cara zia. Viaggiare è vivere e vivere - dico io - va fatto con #passione. Innamorarsi, così, sarà possibile. Dei luoghi, soprattutto. Della loro luce e del loro genius, con forza. È successo, dunque, per un’isoletta “qualunque” e fuori mano, nella provincia dell’altrimenti turisticissima #Krabi. Noi stessi ci siamo arrivati per caso: i piani erano altri e li abbiamo cambiati alla cieca. Ci siamo ritrovati cosi in un posto piccolo piccolo, fuori dal mondo, dove il tempo di chi vi abita è fermo a 30 anni fa e dove il tempo di chiunque vi arrivi si congela; un luogo semplice, fatto davvero di poco, dove i suoni forti sono di mare, scimmie, uccelli coloratissimi, contadini che lavorano, foglie. Le persone, le poche che ci sono, amano i silenzi. Ci ho messo piede, ho sentito il muezzin chiamare per la preghiera, ho visto la marea abbassarsi fino a mangiarsi tutto il mare e mi sono sentita a casa. Ho provato nostalgia per altri posti amati. Ho camminato per ore sulla spiaggia, fatto la lavatrice dalla sciura del self service all’aperto sulla strada, riflettuto sul fare benza al distributore più bello mai visto, discusso con i pochissimissimi turisti presenti, persone speciali che da trent’anni la frequentano e la tengono un po’ per sè, come si custodisce un vero amore e come faremo anche noi. Anche qui abbiamo salutato varani, evitato serpenti e trovato una bella festa di paese fatta di partite di calcio in sequenza, fra squadre giunte anche dalle isole vicine. Ci siamo proprio resi conto che la vita è l’istante esatto che viviamo e che - se quell’istante ci piace - dovremmo fare di tutto per farlo durare sempre. Andarsene da posti così è difficile. It was believed that poisonous flying snakes lived in frankincense trees, guarding them against intruders. Herodotus wrote Of brightly colored winged serpents called Drakontes or Ophies pteretoi. They were described as water snakes with the wings of bats. It was also believed that they would infest the world if it wasn’t for the females killing the males after mating and the young killing the mother in childbirth. The only way to deter these ophidian guardians was to burn styrax or benzoin resin. The sweet smoke would distract these creatures long enough for the frankincense resin to be harvested safely. Strabo also wrote about them, as it was a common belief in Arabian folklore. There are still accounts of these winged serpents in recent history in the Dhofar region of Oman.
