HEYO! Someone asked for GO game recommendations?
Look no further (jk, please do)! I'm begging you to give Transient by Oemuff a chance! It's beyond brilliant and absolutely heart warming. I played it multiple times and think the developer deserves all the appreciation in 💫the world💫.
Hope this link works: https://transient-a-good-omens-fangame.en.softonic.com/
There are so many little insiders hidden in their South Downs cottage and the story is everything from hilarious to touching. Please do yourself a favour and play it. No idea why the developer isn't a fandom legend yet.
Thank so much for letting us know!...
Transient

Transient - A Good Omen's Fangame is a free role-playing fan fiction game developed by Oemuff for PC. The story of this interactive fiction game will revolve around the life of Crowley and Aziraphale after the ruined apocalypse. Last month I decided to join Subjectively’s Pokemon design contest for the upcoming fangame based on his central america based region, the Mazah region. This was my first batch of designs for the contest, a Mazian form Lucario and their mega evolution.
Lucario (Mazian Form) It is believed the first mazian Lucario was born when the soul of their trainer became lost and needed to be guided to the spirit world. The gemstones and black appendages on the back of their head glow when in the presence of a soul. These Pokemon are a common sight at Day of the Dead celebrations due to their innate ability to sense and guide souls both to and from the other side. It is said that if you follow a Lucario guiding their lost spirits, your own spirit will become lost as well after crossing the border separating our world from the spirit world.
Mega Lucario (Mazian Form) This Pokemon has been the subject of a recent cautionary tale regarding the dangers of mega evolution. Instead of temporarily evolving the Pokemon, the energy from mega evolving mixes with Lucario’s ability to walk between worlds, effectively turning the Pokemon into a living unwilling portal to the other side. Spirits of all variety leak out of this newfound gateway, clinging to the Pokemon and overwhelming it completely. It is said that even if you manage to banish those unwelcome spirits, there’s no guarantee the Lucario’s spirit will be able to find its way back to its body again. it is frowned upon in the Mazah region to intentionally mega evolve your Mazian Lucario because of this risk.
The design had two main inspirations: Xolotl, the soul-guiding god of fire and lightning, and the Xoloitzcuintli, the hairless spirit-guiding dog. The golden markings come from Xolotl while the overall thinner body and limbs and bare tail come from the Xolo, but the two other prelavent design elements come from Día de Muertos/Day of the Dead and owls.
The Day of the Dead imagery might be there for obvious reasons, but emphasis on marigolds is because marigolds are used to attract souls to their families’ ofrendas. The marigolds on the Pokemon serve the same purpose, attracting any lost spirits their way so they can be taken to where they need to go.
The owl imagery comes from the Mayan myth that owls are messengers from the Underworld and know the way to it. Despite that, owls are not actually seen as good omens. They are seen as harbingers of death that have sworn revenge on men, hence the owl imagery taking over the Pokemon during their mega evolution.
Bonus:
Tumblr media
This was the original sketch and pose I considered for the mega! I wanted to make it appear that the Pokemon was pained and struggling against something trying to control it, but the disembodied hands/claws cluttered the design too much for me. I ended up settling on the slumped and barely standing pose because it conveyed that there was something wrong at first glance better.

The funniest thing about that anon, I've talked to an old Sonic Cult and Sonic Retro Admin (Sazpaimon), and even he noted that good Genesis Romhacks in the "golden years of the hacking Sonic fandom" are stupidly rare, or just a rehash
Hell, he and Drx despite having involvement with Sonic Megamix have admitted how mediocre it actually was, mainly thanks to CD based level design and overall rehash. And Megamix was cited as the best hack back then!
3D Sonic fangames took forever to get decent due to severe lack of support and negative bias in the beginning, with most never finished other than....Omens
Which yeah, real nice bar you have, fandom
Heck, 2D fangames got so exhausted, SAGE interest was dying before Covid forced everyone to have time to kill. The elitism and rehash was close to killing the scene
I'll give props to Spark the Electric Jester, it's done and plays well, despite meh story and characters, but it's not a Sonic fan game. Nor self boasted on being one
One of these days I'll do a breakdown on the fandom and Sega, it's legit depressing the more I dive into it
The thing is, I have enjoyed my fair share of fangames over the years. Last year alone, I really liked Triple Trouble 16-Bit, then when I got around to Sonic and the Fallen Star, I enjoyed that one too. And I've always admired how far Sonic Robo Blast 2 has come over the years. So it's not like I'm unwilling to give credit where I think it's deserved.
But the fangames that are actually high quality pale in quantity to the not-very-good ones, or the ones that show off an identical Green Hill demo and then get abandoned or stuck in development limbo. And it's worth pointing this out because, as evidenced by the way the Omens developers and other creators have acted when making their games - including actual criminal activity in some cases - this has caused some fans to buy into their own hype, to poor and occasionally comedic results.
It's telling that for all the fandom's pining for SEGA to put passion and vision in their projects, many fangames end up being born out of an obligatory duty to one-up SEGA, and be propped up for (not) doing so.

(Regarding Sonic Omens, also sorry for the broken English) what the fuck is that story lol
Shadow's Character development regression with that hologram boss is truly a bruh moment.
Also the fact Sonic X is canon in this fangame despite stated to take place in the game continuity after Unleashed make no sense like that mean Shadow got bonked again, lose his memory again and got captured by Eggman again.
I know this is nitpicking but the fact they consistently referred Dr. Eggman/Robotnik as Professor Robotnik and Shadow referred him as Eggman rather than Doctor annoyed me a lil bit.
That fangame is the perfect example why being a fan should being a bonus, as well why giving them that much power is a mistake.
At least we had Sonic Triple Trouble 16 bit, I heard good things about that fan made reimagine.
I have no idea. @latin-dr-robotnik showed me some clips and I was like "tf is happening????"
Yes, the timeline is SA, SA2, Sonic X, Unleashed, Omens, Colors (as hinted in the ending). We just skipped three whole games because... they're inconvenient, I guess. Can't have Shadow being manipulated by Maria if ShTH happened :^))))) because that's his personality, right? Maria angst. That's all there is to him. We love Shadow so much that we forgot his whole character.
I know this is nitpicking but the fact they consistently referred Dr. Eggman/Robotnik as Professor Robotnik and Shadow referred him as Eggman rather than Doctor annoyed me a lil bit.
I haven't seen these parts, but c'mon man, Shadow always always says "doctor". He's supposed to be polite! Please!
and professor robotnik's name is gerald. bruh.
That fangame is the perfect example why being a fan should being a bonus, as well why giving them that much power is a mistake.
Remember that this game was monetized :)
What a whiplash, going from TT to this one. TT not only is a much better game, but it nails the characterization of the characters in its competition mode! And it's clearly made out of love, and not out of "I can do better than SEGA". The "explaination" as to why the Chaos Emeralds haven't appeared in modern games is so contrived... and worthless as of Frontiers, lmao.

Have you played Sonic & the Fallen Star? 🌠
Yes! I'm up to date with all the releases from the last two months (Fallen Star, Triple Trouble 16-bit and... *sigh* Omens), and just like with all the other games, I actually streamed my full playthrough :P
I actually loved Fallen Star for a while. It's the type of game that came out of nowhere (I found out about it back in December 2021 via random YouTube videos) and was catered specifically to Sonic Before/After the Sequel and LakeFeperd fans... it was the perfect game for me.
It's painfully obvious that the game takes inspiration from Before/After the Sequel and the Spark games (I mean, the second to last zone is literally Caria Valley from Spark 1 lol), and I enjoyed that. It was fun. I liked the OST, especially Thunder Turbine Act 2, that's one hell of a banger.
But I'm talking in past tense for a reason... and that's Sonic Triple Trouble 16-bit. I still like Fallen Star a lot, and I enjoy all the warm and fuzzy vibes it has to offer, but holy crap dude Triple Trouble came out a month later and it was a complete game changer to me (ignoring the fact it also came out on the very same day as my birthday, best birthday gift ever). I think Fallen Star deserves to join the discourse about the best Sonic fangames of this year, but Triple Trouble 16-bit took over the top spot very swiftly.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So, yeah. Fallen Star good, go play it, it's super nice and chill and it has funny cutscenes. It's the closest we'll get to a full early-2010s LakeFeperd-style revival.
(Also unrelated but Spark 3 has shifted a bit away from its roots and lost some of that original After The Sequel/Spark 1 identity in the process, but that's a topic for another ask... go ask)

For the art thing: 15 and 29!
15. *Where* do you draw (don't drop your ip address this just means do you doodle at a park or smth)
Sometimes if I'm going out and I know I'll have to wait for a long time or will be riding on the subway for a while I'll take my sketchbook and draw outside. But for the most part I draw at home on my desk o/
29. Media you love, but doesn't inspire you artistically
Hard question because almost every piece of media I consume inspires me in some way when it comes to ideas or just to start drawing or writing dfsgfdhg
But if it's specifically about fanart, most media doesn't make me wanna draw for it. Small list of things I've really really enjoyed but have no desire to draw fanart for would be Good Omens (book and show), The Sandman (show), Sherlock Holmes (collection of stories), The Master and Margarita (book), Hades, Cult of the Lamb, Pokemon (a fangame), Devil Venerable also wants to know (danmei, really really good please read it I'm begging), The hunger games (book + movie), Lotr (the movies), Spy x Family (manga + anime)
I thonk Game of Thrones (the show) was the first live action thing I've drawn fanart for. Probably would've drawn more if it didn't go to shit fgdhfgf
Thank you for the ask !!!! Normally I'd draw a little doodle of myself to go with it but I can't rn so please enjoy one from a few days ago With No Context

The worst thing about Omens, it'll kill the drive to use InfinityEngine given its failure (even though it's a decent engine), AND perpetrate "3D bad, 2D good" views for Sonic in the fandom
The irony being 2D fangames for Sonic have been incredibly basic gameplay wise, and doubly more generic with the fact most are just Genesis nostalgia fodder again. It's been over 2 decades, and I can't even think of one that wasn't "pining for Sonic 3K 2.0, but with less plot"
Aesthetically many are nice, but I'm bored. Do something to stand out besides art. If giving Sonic a double jump or homing attack/air dash is the most you can do, I don't care. Even Triple Trouble's fan remake despite the promo comic isn't enough
3D is admittedly hard, especially for cutscenes and enemy/boss ai. Omens was garbage, but it was something
Otherwise I'm tired

Transient - A Good Omen's Fangame
I tried it out last night and I got stuck and restarted twice. Has anyone played that can help me?
First I picked choice one to go back to heaven (I thought maybe Crowley rescues him idk. I just read a fanfic a bit like that). I get to heaven and I’m there for a really long time... talked to about 5 or 6 souls over and over again. Nothing else was happening, so I restart. I choose the other option to become human... carry on for a bit that way, but the story started to loop and I end up in a room where there are 2 Azi’s and 1 Crowley; I think after I get to that choice screen again with Gab the whole screen goes black. There’s still music, but the whole screen is black after I make that choice a 2nd time. I waited for awhile before shutting it down again. I didn’t try again last night. On each shut down of the game I had to ctrl al delete out. Anyone have any experience with this game??
