ok I have compiled a list of greek mythos couple I'd like to throuple with:
1/ odysseus and penelope: the original manipulate mansplain manwhore and gaslight gatekeep girlboss they are SO sexy and big brained and would also orchestrate my death
2/ artemis and callisto: i love a good feudal lord/handmaiden pairing
3/ dyonisus and ariadne: good vibes only! bachannals year round babey also dyonisus definitely gets pegged!!
4/ whatever the fuck is going on with hephaestus/aphrodite/ares like this is the most polycule of greek myth and it's messy and I love mess
5/zeus and hera but strictly in the sense that I make zeus discover he is as much into being cucked as doing the cucking. i can treat hera right. if she doesn't turn me into a cow first but I'll take the risk
i hear y'all asking but what abt hades and persephone listen those two are way too obsessed with each other to let in a third persephone fucked that old man and from then on he won't take anyone else's strap or whatever and if you make a move on perse you'd probably be turned into old pal prometheus' roommate so no. out of the question. thank you for coming to my ted talk

get to know me
i was tagged by the amazing @johaerys-writes, thank you so much!!!
Share your wallpaper: my phone background is really dope artwork of arthur morgan from red dead redemption 2. the art is sooo pretty and i’m sooo lazy so i haven’t changed it even though i haven’t played the game in months lmao. my desktop wallpaper is just,,, a black screen. which is really messed up, but it glitched out and deleted my old wallpaper (which i don’t even remember rip) and,,, ya know, the aforementioned laziness
Tumblr media
The last song you listened to: Morbid Stuff by PUP
Currently Reading:  i just finished the v1 titans run of comics (1999-2003)!!!! i literally can’t recommend it more, it was so fun ough. but i’m currently in that phase after reading something really good where you can’t read anything else because of the misery of finishing a good read. it’s rough. honorable mentions go to the copy of the great gatsby that my coworker has been trying to make me read,,, (i’ve gotten through an entire one (1) page of it, sorry steve), and buy back the secrets, which is an incredible fanfic that everyone who likes timkon should go read immediately or i’ll kneecap your closest friends and relatives <3 (also also also in the family of things by @deadchannelradio which is so incredibly amazing and even tho i finished it a while ago i think it should still count for this because everyone should also read it immediately, the kneecapping threat still withstanding ofc)
Last Movie: Batman: Year One (with @darkravenstag, can you sense a pattern in the media i’ve been consuming jesus christ)
Craving: tattoo, tattoo, tattoo, tattoo, tattoo!!! (i’m broke)
What are you wearing right now: white soft sweatpants, my fluffy housecoat, and a shirt that says “i ❤️my gay cat” which was a birthday gift from @darkravenstag
How tall are you: last time i checked i was 5’4 but god knows if that’s changed by now (i doubt it), apparently that’s 162 ish centimeters
Piercings: i have piercings in my ear that i got when i was like,,, four years old that are somehow still around god bless them. and i have a septum piercing. i really desperately want an industrial next
Tattoos: only one!!!!!!!!! it’s a neat little ouroboros but by god do i need more desperately
Glasses? Contacts?: nope, got that 20/20 vision, babey
Last drink: water (i honestly rarely drink anything but water)
Last show: i guess probably technically the mandalorian? it’s in the middle of its new season and @darkravenstag and i are watching it when it releases weekly :3
Last thing you ate: ice cream sandwiches,,,
Favourite colour: i’m really bad at making decisions like this lmao. i don’t know myself well enough to know my own favorite color, if i’m tbhing. but a lot of different shades of blue are nice, and i like burnt orange and mustard yellow type vibes. green is also nice! so who knows
Current obsession: god i wish it weren’t obvious. to all the folks who started following me because of my greek myths stuff (and that includes you jo lmao) uhhhh sorry. greek myths were THE hyperfixation for like,,,, three or four years but dc comics is back in a big way. i simply cannot stop thinking about these little superhero guys,,,,
Unrelated Obsession: right now??? i’m not kidding when i say that dc comics has left me with literally no other computing space in my brain. like i’m at the stage of brain rot where having a conversation about something that isn’t dc related is a little bit hard,,,, it’s abysmal out here guys. but i’ll give a shout out to greek myths,,, when will my interest in the iliad and odyssey return from the war??? my brain basically works in two modes, which are dc comics nerd and pretentious classics obsessive, so eventually the classics hyperfixation will return but i couldn’t tell you when that’ll be
Any pets: i have two cats!! their names are achilles and briseis and they are the worst little creechers but also god’s greatest gift to humanity (achilles is currently curled up in my lap purring his stupid little head off). they turn six this april!!!
Do you have a crush on anyone: lol uhhh sure
Favourite fictional character: this is an incredibly mean question actually. you want me to pick a favorite son??? i am holding my hands over jason todd’s ears while whispering dick grayson,,, but also if we’re allowed to include ocs then rn everyone can get fucked because my baby wes is having a renaissance (in my head)
The last place you traveled: lmao the last place i traveled was back to my hometown (a small town in northern indiana) for the county fair this summer. the ice cream at the local ice cream stand is still the best in the country and i’ll die on that hill but yeah i’d kill to travel a bit more soon but probably won’t really travel until my sister’s wedding happens in georgia in october
tagging @darkravenstag @thrustin-timberlake @deadchannelradio @sarcasticbeanie and any other beloved mutuals (or followers!!) who wanna do this! it's fun, have fun!

THEATER KID! MUSICAL THEATRE KID!!!
Give me all your hot takes and favorites!
SO FAVOURITE MUSICAL IN THE WORLD? HADESTOWN BABEY, I SAW IT WHEN IT WAS JUST A LIL GUY, A LIL MUSICAL, AND I LOVE THE ORIGINAL STAGE RECORDING OF IT THE MOST ITS BEAUTIFUL, ITS TRAGIC, ITS THE GREAT DEPRESSION ERA OF AN ANCIENT GREEK MYTH.
It gets Hades right! Like, as a ancient history student, I have a deep hatred any modern movies depiction of Hades (YES, I FUCKING HATES THE DISNEY MOVIE HERCULES, FUCK THAT FUCKING THING fun fact greece banned it) BUT YES. Hades isnt the colossal enemy because he rules over the underworld, you fucking planks.
He is the bad guy BECAUSE HE IS THE GOD OF FUCKING RICHES AND A METAPHOR FOR CAPITALISM IN HADESTOWN. oh MYGOD THE FUCKIN GENIUS.
Love Moulin Rouge so much, AND i know its looked down on for being a Jukebox musical but its so beautiful. It made a huge impact on me because i saw it so young.
Phantom of The Opera too, why you think im so deeply fucking dramatic?
Okay sO
Starlight Express? OF COURSE IT COULD ONLY WORK IN GERMANY, WITH EVERYONE ELSE WRITING IT OFF. ITS DEEPLY ENDEARING TO THE GERMANS and andrew lloyd webber is a fucking pussy for trying to distance himself from it. He's also generally a pussy, that fuckin tory.
Dear Evan Hansen was a mid story with sometimes good songs. Like, the movie warped every single character but my guy, they were already all insufferable. THE ONLY GOOD SONG IS SINCERLY ME, ITS SO GOOD COMPARED TO EVERY OTHER SONG IN THERE, CMON
... Book of Mormon overhyped. I don't care about it.
SHREK THE MUSICAL FUCKING STEAM PLOWS THROUGH WHAT MAKES SHREK SHREK. ITS BAD, IT DOESNT UNDERSTAND ITS OWN FUCKING CHARACTER. If you were going to make a decent fucking musical about shrek, DONT EVER HAVE SHREK SING!!! THAT'S SHREK BABEY, HAVE EVERYONE ELSE SINGING AROUND HIM!! SHREK WAS ALWAYS GOING TO BE ABOUT MAKING FUN OF FUCKING DISNEY SO WHY SUDDENLY DISNEYFY HIM. fUYCKIN flops
Finally, Into The Woods was butchered by its own film. I love everything Stephen Sondheim, especially Sweeney Todd and into the woods was done so so bad. Its so underappreciated and because of the movie, it will further be misunderstood.
The live action les mis movie was always terrible and its sad that it took watching Cats (2019) to people to realise what a hack idiot Tomothy Hooper is.
Rent sucks. Fuck you. La Boheme doesn't deserve this.
FINALLY STOP PUTTING JAMES CORDEN INTO MUSICALS, WE DONT NEED THAT FUCKING MORON RUINING MORE SHIT

ok time for me to talk about ancient!Aias & Asha bc its Good Lore and I’ve been holding off on it for too long now.
oh one point before i start-start is - as established before, Aias is Aias’ Ancient name since it’s already Greek HOWEVER that will get confusing very quickly so from this point onwards Ancient!Aias will be referred to as Ajax, but know it is pronounced exactly the same as Aias. Asha’s Ancient name is Moros (and if you remember my post about Moros and Aias’ names that was more a Greek myth AU so while that dynamic is still extraordinarily tasty, it is not the relationship the two have here)
Ajax and Moros have a mentor/disciple relationship in the unsundered world
Moros is the dignified and capable shishou who diligently watches over his bright successor after retiring his seat and passing it to Ajax (and definitely only to oversee his growth - absolutely not because he has feelings disease or anything)
And Ajax is his showboat disciple who’s maybe just a little bit bratty to his mentor (“are you gonna preach at me all day old man? aren’t you retired”) who despite his teasing holds a his shishou in highest esteem and respects him greatly…… who shows off all the time even if he ends up making a fool of himself because of it because he wants his shishou’s attention and affection
and not only that but Asha’s player has opened the gateway for MAXIMUM pining in that it’s Moros this time around who will never make the first move and even though this version of Ajax doesn’t consider “want” to get in the way of the unconditionality of his love, he’s still extremely respectful of Moros and would never push those boundaries (well........... hahahahahahahahahahaha)
so. That’s the introduction to the flavor I’m dealing with now. AshAias 2.0 babey!!!! where the more things are different the more they stay the same :)

consider: technoblade as ares/mars
im sorry lads im going buckwild with ideas. also it’s super likely someone’s already made the connection tbh so if you had the idea first,, fuck yeah man i see you
ares, the most unpopular god in the greek pantheon. he’s the messy side of war; chaos, bloodlust, brutality, untamable, overpowered. father of fear and terror. his sacred animals include the dog, vulture, and boar. he gets made fun of a lot in myth but in times of war it was ares one sung hymns to. narratively, ares is a deity you want on your side but he’s otherwise pretty much hated.
mars, the roman god of war and a guardian of agriculture. he was a force to stabilize and secure peace. mars was considered father to the roman people, technically making him a supporter of rome’s government but maybe after seeing rome rise and fall in all forms of government a certain someone might have given up on that. (antarctic empire anyone?)
consider, a warring between the two narrative sides of techno. the empire weary Mars and the bloodthirsty Ares. the side that wants to slide into the madness and the other that just wants to be decent and fucking farm.
the warring desire is stronger considering both sides are war gods and will haul ass when fucked with. but that doesn’t mean they aren’t different. the mars aspect of techno would be a lot more protective and the ares aspect a lot more chaotic,,
this isn’t saying techno has like,, two personalities or anything. just two narrative sides that fit in well with the Greek myth themes that are being threaded through the smp storyline

alright time for the possibly illegible phone notes i wrote last night, because ive done some research and its Sound:tm:
arcadia’s name. right.
before arr, the warrior of light was a small, baby au ra that liked to adventure with her friends, (see: echoes of a past long and forgotten;) and at that time, before carteneau, she was known by her birth name, hikari. hailing from the hingan islands in the far east, where her father had relocated them after he was disowned for having a child with her mother out of wedlock (and telling his dad to Fuck Off, but thats another spicy story.)
after the events at carteneau, where the warrior of light’s memories were lost, the memories of her friends, her home, her siblings and even the place which she beloved so, kugane.
arcadia is a place that hiraeth once visited, long before she became azem. hailed to be a utopia within the ‘perfect’ world that the ancients lived in, a region of untamed beauty, of which many had tried to imitate, but had always fallen short. the young ancient had fallen in love with the people that lived in the little towns and villages dotted around, and perhaps that is where her love of the world was first allowed to bloom.
note that: arcadia is not a known word, place or name in the entirety of sundered Etheirys, the region was wiped out in the sundering of the source, and therefore went all memory of it.
after becoming azem, hiraeth had longed to return to arcadia, once detailing the sights to hythlodaeus, claiming that she would steal him away from his work at the bureau and take him on an adventure. he had laughed, and teased her about it, saying their work was not to be shrugged off to run wild, though quietly, he wished that they could.
such was hiraeth’s love for arcadia, that when the young adventurer arrived in gridania and was asked her name, there was only one that came to mind. as if it were burned into her very soul.

I am pretty sure I'm friends with Achilles.
If Achilles were still alive, it would be him.
He speaks with wisdom from lifetimes of experience, and his eyes hold suffering that other teenagers don't have.
I see it in the way he sits in class, when he drives me home, how he lays in bed when we're studying together. It comes quickly; a change in his expression before his eyes flash back to normal.
Sometimes when I ask him a question, he goes silent and I know not to ask him again.
I think he thinks too much, and I think it scares me. (1)

(Some) Greek Gods as Historical Figures
So some days ago I secretly logged back into Mythology and Cultures amino and I stumbled across post of casting historical figures as the gods from Greek mythology. Of course, I hated it, so I made my version of this.
Note: Of course, this is going to have quite a lot of Napoleonic figures, since I am more familiar of this period, but please do reblog this post (or tag me on another post) with the hashtag “#mythical figures as historical people” and add some more of your historical figure Greek God fancasts!
Note 2: this post is for entertaining purpose, and just me introducing some guys to y’all and I am not a historian myself and hopefully you all would still like my takes😅
1. Zeus - Louis XIV of France
Tumblr media
First and foremost, I shall introduce the king of gods featured in Greco-Roman myths. You may ask, why don’t I cast Henry VIII of England? Well, my reason is very simple: Henry is far from accurate to Zeus in actual myths.
To be honest, Zeus has a more “absolute power” energy in it, and Louis XIV totally has rocked it (like that iconic line “l’état, c’est moi (I am the state)”). Well, Henry also has that kind of energy but everyone only remembers his six wives and the uncountable number of bloodshed (not to mention Catherine of Aragon is a much better fighter than him—got this from Horrible Histories OwO)... Anyways, Louis XVI is basically a Zeus.
2. Hera - Catherine of Aragon
Tumblr media
This brings to Catherine of Aragon herself. She’s a total Q U E E N and if you have watched “Six” the musical you already got what I mean (like, being the wife who married to Henry the longest). There’s also the early warlike aspect in Hera (featured in Homer’s works) that Catherine has it as well (at least you know that she’s getting more victories than Henry if you have watched Horrible Histories season 6, in the episode with Rowan Atkinson playing Henry VIII (which is sad because I want Ben Willbond to play him—he iconic to the HH fandom)), making her a great casting of Hera.
Hera, in my opinion, is a very strong woman who has to take Zeus’s shit and I could totally understand why she took revenge on the girls that Zeus has slept with—but anyways, hopefully you guys would like it :3
3. Aphrodite - Pauline Bonaparte
Tumblr media
This is half-self-explanatory, really—just look at that statue she posed as Venus, the Roman equivalent of Aphrodite.
Tumblr media
Pauline was famed for her beauty in her time, also a big chunk of scandals from her affairs (which bugs her big brother Napoleon, a lot). Nevertheless, despite her big spending habits and a great sexual appetite, she always helped Napoleon in some surprising ways (like she sold her house in Paris to the Duke of Wellington to get the funds for Napoleon).
Just like Aphrodite herself, Pauline harnessed her beauty very well. Thus, I rest my case.
4. Apollo - Joachim Murat or Emperor Franz Joseph I of Austria
(Warning: long content ahead)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Firstly, let me briefly introduce them because you guys might not know them much.
Joachim Murat was a marshal of France, also one of Napoleon’s brother-in-law, grand duke of Berg and Cleves from 1806 to 1808 and the King of Naples from 1808 to 1815. After the wars, he attempted to escape yet was caught and executed in 1815 in Pizzo, Italy (if you have read of Alexandre Dumas’s “Famous Crimes” you might know him—by the way no one has cut his head off and sent it to that big nose King Ferdinand).
For those who have watched “Elisabeth” or the “Sissi” movies, you might know Franz Joseph I of Austria already but you might not know much about himself besides being the husband of the (in)famous Empress Sisi (ie. Empress Elisabeth of Austria). He was the Emperor of the Austria from 1848 to his death in 1916—one of the longest reigning European monarchs in history. During his reign, the empire had been through a lot of change, most notably, the creation of Austria-Hungary. Nevertheless, he was also the Emperor who started World War I and he died of old age in the midst of the Great War.
For Apollo, I’m not casting musicians because this is quite overdone. I rather want to shed a light to the other arts that he represented in Greco-Roman mythology. This makes me want to draw a parallel to Joachim Murat as he was also a great sucker of classical literature. Plus, he also was known to be a flamboyant dresser (his nickname was “the Dandy King” by the way), also the designer of the uniforms of the Neapolitan army (with an excessive amount of amaranth, perhaps his favourite colour). Really, everyone just sees him as a great flamboyant himbo but in reality, he’s iconically badass in the battlefield as the First Horseman of Europe. Well, also he’s known for being extremely good with women even though his wife Caroline was fierce as hell. So, in my opinion, he fits the image of Apollo that we know.
However, you guys might feel surprised why I picked Franz Joseph for Apollo. Well, he really... was a rather mediocre ruler in my opinion, and perhaps our most memorable image of him was the senile emperor who signed the declaration of war to Serbia. Nevertheless, he was a well-liked man among his subjects, at least to some old citizens of Austria-Hungary telling future generations. Besides, culture flourished in Vienna under his reign—with notable figures like Sigmund Freud, Ludwig Wittgenstein and Erwin Schrödinger. Despite the series of unfortunate events which made the empire started to crumble, Austria-Hungary arguably has its cultural importance in Europe. Sounds like what Apollo would do if he’s a ruler, somehow.
Well, enough of his political achievements, let’s talk about his private life... which was probably the actual reason why I picked him.
Enter Duchess Elisabeth in Bavaria, the Empress of Austria and Queen of Hungary, also known as Sisi.
On a side note, Marshal Louis-Alexandre Berthier of France, Prince of Neufchâtel and of Wargram, was Empress Sisi’s grand-uncle in-law via his marriage to Duchess Maria Elisabeth in Bavaria
Tumblr media
Absolutely love Pia as Elisabeth in the musical so please don’t mind me using a gif from this :3 ((also, “Elisabeth” spoiler alert
Franz originally was to marry her sister Helene (nicknamed Néné), nevertheless, on the first meeting in Bad Ishl, he has fallen for the young Elisabeth, head over heels—making him defying his domineering mother, Archduchess Sophie, for the very first time. Elisabeth also liked him and did not expressed her refusal either, so they got married in St. Augustine’s Church in 29th April, 1854.
However, the marriage was not well. Sisi was not accustomed to the strict Austrian court especially Archduchess Sophie (also she was not really a fan of intimacy). Poor Franz was rather helpless in situations between his mother and his wife, and eventually, Sisi chose her freedom over her duty as Empress, traveling around the world. They two briefly went back together during the Austro-Hungarian compromise, yet she was constantly not there. Eventually, Sisi was assassinated by an anarchist named Luigi Lucheni during her stay in Geneva, Switzerland, and Franz was devastated over her death (“she will never know how much I love her”).
To Franz, he loved her so, but he really didn’t understand her needs. Even though he had countless mistresses and female companions in Vienna, he still missed his wife. I say, he was really unlucky when it comes to love. Like Apollo himself, he dated countless nymphs and humans, but a lot of his notable relationships did not have a good end. (Probably Cyrene was the most lucky one, yet she also has chosen to be left alone after mothering several children with Apollo.) For this, I picked Franz Joseph as Apollo.
5. Ares - Jean Lannes or Michel Ney
Tumblr media Tumblr media
As usual, for those who don’t know much history, I shall briefly introduce my babeys these two great soldiers.
Jean Lannes was one of the marshals of Napoleon, known for being one of Napoleon’s closest friends and his fiery personality, and is considered one of the best marshals of the 1st French Empire. His finest moments including the Battle of Ratisbon in which he led his men to storm the well-guarded city with ladders (hence his nickname “ladder lord” in our very humble Napoleonic marshalate fandom :3). Sadly, he died of the wound he received in the battle of Aspern-Essling in 1809.
Michel Ney was also one of the marshals of Napoleon, known for his extreme valour (yep, he is known as the “Bravest of the Brave”). As you might know, he was one of the marshals who was in Waterloo, yet, his finest hour was during the retreat from Russia in the disasterous 1812. Sadly, he was arguably the most prominent victim of the White Terror under the second Bourbon restoration, executed in 1815 (**I am not accepting any kind of conspiracy theories of my babey survived and died in America😤).
Speaking of Ares, I have a lot of things to say (that’s my dad ;-; no jkjk). He is really not that bloodthirsty idiot who casually hates humans. Well, he’s more like a fiery dork and a man who was very faithful to his lovers, and fights very well (by the way also one of the best dads). So, the bois that come into my mind are automatically two of the most courageous marshals of France.
Lannes, if I have to get him a godly parent, it would definitely Ares. He resembled the god a lot (also I sometimes imagined Ares as a smol bean with dark hair), probably looks the most like Ares himself. He got that fiery temper, that faithfulness to his wife Louise, also being a very courageous fighter in the field—well he literally was like, “NO LEMME STORM DAT CITY *grabs ladder*”.
Tumblr media
There you have it, my big bro our ladder lord Jean Lannes who can pull off a perfect Ares.
Ney is like a slightly introverted (and mature) version of an Ares person. You can guess his temper already through his famed auburn hair, and indeed despite his shy exterior his temper sometimes was a bit explosive, and a bit impatient (which was somehow one of his fatal flaws). He was a great fighter, known as a skilled swordsman in his youth. And you all know how brave he is in his famed epithet. Michel Ney is purely badass (and C U T E) you know (and he needs a lot of hugs because he has really been though a lot in the wars, and was a possible case of PTSD which was shown in his arguably suicidal behaviour during the battle of Waterloo). That’s why I casted him as the Greek god Ares OwO
//
And there you have it, my interpretations on the Greek gods via people in history. I originally would like to include more but somehow I realised that I have written too much about my picks. So, if you want to add more, reblog this post or tag me on the post you made on this topic (and please use the hashtag “mythical figures as historical people” so that I could look into your choices via the search bubble on this app🥺).
Last but not the least, I hope you all lovelies like this, also have learnt something new via my brief introductions on some historical people. Have a great day!

hit us with that to be read list, reed! (do I need to beef up my own list and am I using you as a guidepost? maybe so)
cracks knuckles, it really depends on what you’re after but pretty much all of this list if sff, some of it ya and some na. under a cut bc. long. i’m not gonna get into too much detail bc otherwise i’d be here for aaaaaages, but if u wanna know about a specific book, feel free to ask!!
currently reading: the queen of nothing, which is the 3rd book in the folk of the air trilogy. i’ve been a fan of black since i first read tithe 15 years or so ago, and the first 2 books here were enjoyable! enemies to lovers, faerie prince and mortal girl who has a twin. tricksy faerie deals and all that good stuff.
we hunt the flame: first in a duology, i believe. ya high fantasy romance. genuinely know very little about this except it’s supposedly really good and i do like going in knowing very little so. uh. yeah.
kingdom of the cursed: releases in october. na romance fantasy. slapping this down because the first book, kingdom of the wicked, was really, really good. witches and demon princes, and a curse that to be broken and things breaking through the crumbling gates of hell. goodreads says ya, but i’ve seen new adult and this one is apparently spicier than the last one so.
ariadne: basically a retelling of ariadne and theseus. i’m wary bc i keep getting burned by greek mythology related books but i refuse to learn.
damnation spring: about a logger and his wife set in 1977 where they believe the use of pesticides are causing the abnormal amount of miscarriages in the community.
the body scout: SCIENCE FICTION BABEY. kobo has out of date cybernetics, his best friend gets murdered and he wants to do something about it.
the wolf in the whale: historical fantasy romance is what i have seen it listed as. a young inuit shaman runs away to try to save her family and bumps into a viking.
these violent delights: romeo and juliet retelling set in 1920s shanghai with rival gangs, first in a duology.
half sick of shadows: reimagining of arthurian myth.
jade city: first in a trilogy, described as a “godfather-esque saga” with blood feuds, magic, and viscous politics.
the killing moon: first of a duology. priests harvest the magic of the sleeping mind and kill those judged corrupt, and oh no now he has to protect the person he was supposed to kill bc someone is murdering innocent dreamers.
brother red: a body is found and the deeper she looks, the more deceit and corruption is uncovered.
daughter of sparta: reimagining of the story of apollo and daphne. i want it to be good but i am, once again, wary of mythology novels so we shall see.
the pariah: i’m actually really looking forward to this one, mostly bc orbit has been hyping it up for a bit now and i’m so intrigued. alwyn is raised as an outlaw, gets betrayed and becomes a soldier for the king’s army.
the next 2 howl’s moving castle books i almost forgot
also the witcher books at. some point.
there are so many others, like the falconer, among thieves, to kill a kingdom, caraval etc. but i would genuinely be here for ages so i just kind of randomly picked some from my big ass list that i’m either looking forward to or am curious about. most of these also have a fair bit of romance bc i like to shut my brain off when i read novels and i like romance dmkasgmsd.
outside of the sff/ya/na:
beowulf bc i love this epic
the song of roland since i just found my copy again lmao
the prince by machiavelli bc it’s been a bit since i last read it
the aeneid
i still need to read my iliad and odyssey fagles translations too whoops
coming back in bc i FORGOT about all the greek plays whoops, i have a big anthology called the greek plays that i need to finish so that too
so yeah!! that’s......a little chunk of the list lmao. i’m going to try to keep my reading tag going, although i posted NOTHING about tfota but that’s bc i was simply too enraptured and read the cruel prince and the wicked king in like. 4 hours a piece. NO TIME FOR POSTING. however, i’ll probably end up talking about everything ELSE i read so whatever isn’t on this list may very well make an appearance eventually lmao

Mmkay so time to combine Childhood Hyperfixation with Now Hyperfixation, Heartless characters as Greek gods >:]
(These aren’t based on any particular interpretations of the gods and don’t necessarily adhere to the gods’ roles in the myths btw. Just going off aesthetics here)
Heartless: Thanatos because Haha Get It He’s Dead
Alchemy: Aphrodite!! They are all about love, babey, whether it be for other people or yourself! Also they’re hot as fuck and I don’t think I need to explain myself on this one
Flint: Apollo. Only because of the sun thing. That Is The Only Reason sjdbdj
Eira: Athena. Takes battle very seriously and is generally more logic-oriented than his companions. Closed-off at first but warms up once you get to know him better
Doppel/Glass: Hermes! Primarily because he’s the god of thievery, but also because I just think Hermes has Fun Twink Energy and that fits Doppel and Glass quite well in my opinion
River: Persephone! She Love Plants!!! That’s like. My only reasoning lmao. She Just Likes Plants A Whole Lot
Alastor: I’m tempted to just go Hades on this one because it seems like the obvious answer, but I don’t actually know if it fits him? He’s kinda tricky compared to the rest, I’ll get back to you on this one
Dock: Phobos, god of fear. He’s just scary. That’s all I’ve got
Lorelei: Demeter. Temperamental and way more powerful than people might assume at first glance. Very scary. Likes flowers, tho
Bandy: Dolos, minor god of deception and trickery. He do a little prank, bastard man, what crimes will he commit next?
Diana: Artemis. I mean, c’mon. You knew this was coming. She’s literally named after her (kinda). She Shoot Real Good, Love The Moon
Lance: Ares. He’s Gonna Fight You So Fucking Hard, You Don’t Even Understand How Hard He’s Gonna Fight You Right Now
