A little treat since I’ve received a follower influx - a lineup for the first Greenbrier story I have drafted. Whirly visits the fledgling warren founded by his estranged daughter's mysterious husband, and becomes entangled in his severe but talented grandchild Melachodim's pursuit of truth.
Can I interest anyone in a good set of beans (I can make all sorts of handpaws! Puffy and toony or slim and more fitting depending on client’s preference 💜)
had the true pleasure of drawing this scene of @salavarte's greenbrier mice, without question some of my favorite critters of all time. this was the painting that these studies were preparation for. i really liked the idea of them doing a kind of lion dance type of celebration but using a weasel pelt
this was probably the most ambitious watercolor painting i've ever worked on and while of course there are many spots i'm not completely satisfied with i am overall really proud of it
additional detail shots (the color profile is different because these were taken with my scanner instead of my camera, both of which wonk up the colors in different annoying ways):
As usual, I am a sucker for sweet little animal faces. This guy in particular is so charming to me on account of its LONG neck.
Based on the markings, we know this was sold or made in 1997, February 14th and presumably originated in the Greenbrier / Greenbrier River area of West Virginia. I am guessing that it was made for or sold by the Greenbrier Hotel. The carving of "BSC" at the back of its base I am also deducing is either the artists signature, or comes from the Bluefield State College nearby (or some other explanation, I am only speculating with the information I have).
