ok so hes TECHNICALLY aligned with the good guys HOWEVER. hes super into high-level dark magic. he summons demons for fun. hes best friends with Death. theres a whole episode about how Princess Bubblegum (who is infamously all about that surveillance state biz) has no idea that he's doing any evil magic stuff, so he's REALLY trying hard to hide it, but he's so rank with evil stonk that other wizards can feel it. a self-proclaimed hater of evil tries to kill him, and peppermint butler turns the guy's children into monsters to psych him out (the kids seem fine with it and actually think it's cool, but the guy flips his dip)
