AHHH Thank you!! 🥰🥺😭 This is incredibly nice, and I can't help but feel like I may have an underwhelming response.

I have found myself in a bit of a creative slump since finishing ‘Diving’. As with any good hyperfix, I never expected to get so caught up in the Stand and its characters (it's all from Glen, let's be honest), and now I'm in year two of being solidly focused on this. One of my longest fixes to date (maybe second to GoT - for Tyrion - but that also had new content coming out regularly to help extend).

Honestly, I expected to get to the end of ‘Diving’ and be ready to move on to the next thing. Hell, I was scared I was going to lose focus and not even finish it, as much as I told myself I would not do that. Usually, my fixes last a year, and while I don’t put my blorbos in a wet box on the side of the road, they usually fall into the background and pop in on occasion, while another fix takes the forefront. But these guys are not leaving my head. Canon and OC alike. They don’t want to leave, and to be fair, I love them and don’t want to see them go. So I don't know if that means another sequel, spin off, a bunch of one shots.... I truly don't know.

With the Stand still taking the wheel (again blaming Glen), I had started into a cross. Picking up at the end of ‘Diving’ and heading to a new world (True Blood) but I'm struggling on the idea still. I have a few pages typed up, and one sketch*. But it's hard to find motivation. And again, being up front, I don’t know if it's even worth it. I know, I know. Write for me. But it is incredibly frustrating to work in a vacuum, and it's hard to push myself when I know there's little chance of anybody reading it and getting enjoyment from it. Truth be told, I almost stopped writing Spiral until an out of the blue amazing comment from @anths-girl gave me the motivation to go on. I am eternally grateful to her, and she has no idea of the positive effect that had on me.

And that’s where I’m at. Until motivation hits me right, I've just been reworking Spiral chapter by chapter (damn the typos... What was I doing?!? You’re being sloppy, girl. Just sloppy.) I also started sketching out a few of my favorite scenes from it, although I feel my skill level is nowhere near where I'd like it to be. Unfortunately, all of this, it's just not scratching the itch the way writing it the first time did.

So here I am. Stuck in limbo. All I can really do is hope inspiration strikes me soon, and in the meantime, I'll keep putzing about in an attempt to find something that strikes me during the process.

But that truly is a shitty ramble in response to a very lovely offer to have the floor to speak openly. So, while it is in no way finished, I guess I can share the sketch I’ve been working on for that cross over I mentioned. I’m still not happy with it, but I feel bad just coming to this with my nonsense, and offering up nothing but sad words.

General headcanons for the Rise boys :) I've had these ideas and thoughts in my head for a bit but I think it's about time I get them all out and down in one place gwehe.

Mikey —

• Starting off strong, the youngest of the brothers is definitely the most readily affectionate in all fields. However, he more or less leans towards physical manners of expression; full-body hugs with a bit of firmness in the way he holds you. It's tight, but comforting, and often accompanied by cheek nuzzles. Oftentimes he's warm (from basking), so it's a well-enjoyed thing by his brothers when their li'l bro.

• He uses more than just himself to paint on and apply stickers to! Raph is his most frequent volunteer, but Leo sometimes joins in too. Donnie doesn't get either on himself, but he lets Mikey help with the paint jobs on a few of his contraptions. They follow the same color scheme, but somehow still have that Michelangelo touch without it being glaringly obvious.

• "Dr. Delicate Touch" is like a front he puts on so he doesn't feel as bad telling someone bad news, or when he needs to be the "bad cop" in a situation. Whether or not he meant to, he internalized being ""'the nice one""" so he finds trouble in being that specific kind of assertive/serious because to others it would feel out of character for him.

• Surprisingly though (or maybe not, hah) he's a metalhead through and through. Loves the chance to get wild and free and sing his heart out.

• Being a crafty guy, sometimes he's needed to use sharps and other things for some sort of project. He's got scars on his fingers, most of them from when he was younger and less experienced, but every now and again if he gets distracted he can slip up.

• He's a jack of all trades, in all different ways. Give him enough time and a good place to sit, and he'll manage to teach himself three new things by the end of the week. While he's not the best at everything, he's definitely capable of a lot!

Leo —

• His most frequent method of affection is headlocking his brothers until they tell him to let go. Yes it is annoying. Yes the other three let it happen all the time anyways.

• Going through portals is some strange shit. He's become more tolerant to temperature changes (both from basically going through a wormhole and having occasionally ended up very near fire.) That is only what he feels, though. He can say he isn't too hot or too cold, but his behaviors still reflect that. His movements still become sluggish and delayed if he's in an environment that isn't good for him.

• He's able to be lifted and carried very easily by his brothers, but namely Raph. However he's light enough for the other two to do it as well. Being carried has its benefits too; when he was younger it happened enough to where he got used to it, and eventually enjoy it as well.

• If something catches his eye, Leo will stretch his neck a little bit to get a better look at it. Similarly, sometimes when he's either preparing for some sort of hug or verbal affirmation, he'll lift his head up a little as well.

• Sometimes he'll bite the others. And it's impossible to tell exactly why. One time it could be an affectionate thing, other times for some other reason. No matter the case, he's earned "Cannibal Nardo" as a title from Donnie. And speaking of...

Donnie —

• He's the kind of autistic guy with several massive sensory triggers. Wet + gelatinous textures, bitter foods (and soft ones when they're not supposed to be), and ASMR or similar sounds are no-nos on his part.

• Since he needed glasses when he was little, but works on machinery and all that stuff, he switched to contacts so he could wear protective gear easier. His eyesight is actually terrible without those things.

• When he gets hyperfixated on what he's doing, he has a tendency to crane his neck a little bit or face his eyes forward to really be able to see what he's doing.

• Some things he's worked on, like bombs and the like, have affected his hearing somewhat. He can still hear relatively okay,but sometimes he can miss things that are said to him or be unaware that he's being spoken to.

• Both touch-averse in giving and receiving. Though if he's really happy he's more lenient — maybe not so surprisingly he's really soft (and not just on his shell! He moisturizes /hj)

Raph —

• Oh, Raphael...how much he's grown. When he was wayyy way little, he definitely had a spunky streak and a lot of attitude. He'd still cared about his younger brothers of course, but he hadn't yet learned his own strength and would roughhouse them a lot more than they were able to handle. (They don't remember most of that since they were THAT young, but Splinter's definitely said a thing or two about it a few times.)

• This guy can eat literally anything you put in front of him and it's kind of scary. He can stomach just about everything under the sun and be okay. He could theoretically just eat jawbreakers for fun if he wanted, given he has a WICKED strong bite, too.

• He's got a LOTTT of trouble asking for help, because he's the big sibling. He's the one who should be doing the helping, not the other way around. Thus he pushes himself into unfamiliar situations a lot, and fumbles it because he doesn't know what he's doing but doesn't want to ask how to do it.

• Raph has that intuition where he can just tell if something is wrong. Namely, for his brothers, but to April and Splinter as well. Sometimes it even happens before anything actually happens, so they think he's just worrying about nothing until it, y'know, happens. This gut feeling of his has been learned not to be challenged or trifled with. It is virtually always correct in its hunches.

Headcanons cause I'm gay

-Definitely was either a skater kid or a guitar guy in highschool. Hasn't played or skated since he graduated but he still remembers how to do the basic stuff. Occasionally he'll get bored and play a bit in his room or skate back and forth in the alley but only if he knows not a lot of people are around. He only really let's Annie hang around when he does any of these things since they're so close and because she was around when he was got into those things. Annie bugged him to learn a couple of songs she really likes so sometimes she'll sing along (if he knows the lyrics he'll sing as well)

-Man may be like 26/27 years old, but bros got back problems like he's 50. Probably due to an accident he had as a kid (prolly from skating) and it just healed weirdly. (Annie jokingly calls him an old man for it)

-Hes one of those people that send the most chaotic and random memes to you at like 3am. They never make any sense and always leave you confused. No one knows why he does this he doesn't even understand most popular memes, hes like an outdated dad. Yet he always finds the most nonsensical ones and thinks its the funniest thing in the world.

-While he doesn't have as many squish mallows as Annie, he still has a couple laying around in his room. He mainly gets the small ones that come in a mystery bag (micro mallows I think is their name). He keeps his favorite/favorites in his coat pocket (its a secret, but the ones he keeps on him are just the 2 that remind him of Annie and himself ( if you selfship with him/he's one of your f/os, he has one of you too ;} )

-He doesn't have as big of a hyperfixation on one interest like Annie, however he does switch a lot between interests. He fixates on something and it lasts from a day to a week, before falling into something new or something he liked before (bit of a personal experience lol). Im not the most knowledgeable on some of these things but I feel like he swaps between are stuff like undertale, sonic (he loves the sonic boom tv show), kingdom hearts, pokemon (games as well as the show (loves sonic underground)), mystery skulls (both the band and the animations (Vivi is definitely his favorite but he totally has a crush on Lewis shhhh)), and over the garden wall (also a lot of the popular shows on cartoon network).

-He and Annie have a minecraft server that they play on a lot. They have a separate one they play on that has a bunch of their other friends, but he usually plays on the one with just him and Annie. Its not like he doesn't like playing with the others, he just likes how much more relaxed and contained it is with just 2 people (well, as relaxed and contained as playing with Annie can be. She's a very chaotic mc player lol)

Annie

-There isn't a canon height for her, that I know of, but my headcanon is either 5"5-5"8. She's not insanely tall but to 5"3 me, she tall pretty lady :} In liquid form though, I'd say she gets up to like 6"9-7"0 (speaking of the liquid form, she definitely is more non-verbel like that. I see that go around on twitter and in the discord and I 100% agree with it)

-Had one of those My Chem emo phases in middle/highschool. She still listens to them just not as much. I'm not projecting what are you talking about. Her favorite albums are Three Cheers and Danger Days. Sometimes you can catch her singing and its one of the best things to watch. She's either humming to herself idly or as if shes preforming in a concert its amazing. She has a pretty voice :} (if any of you listen to them/know their songs, she absolutely KILLS it on Helena like god I want to make a cover with her voice bank SO bad)

-SPEAKING OF PHASES she definitely had a FnaF phase. I don't know how I know this, but I know she did

-Don't know why but I feel like she would play laser tag a lot. I imagine there's an arcade in the town they live in that also has a room for laser tag. Her and Garc use to go to there a lot in middle and highschool so shes hella good at it. She's pretty fast with a quick reaction time so she's got the highest score. Garc isn't that bad at it but he can't really keep up with Annie both in skill and in agility so he doesn't play often, and instead just watches and waits at the end for her.

-Sends cute cat pictures and cat memes to Garc everyday (and to you if you selfship). Though, if someones having a bad day, she'll send as many as she can to cheer the person up :}

-The amount of squish mallows this woman has. Her bed is almost entirely covered in plushies and there's still TONS on shelfs, in closets and in those little nets people use to store them in. Everytime they go out Garc will always drive to whatever near by location sells them. Hell there's some still in the car, buckled up in the backseat. She remembers all her favorites' names :}

-They always seem pretty tall on TV, but in reality they're just wearing those platform highheels, so they're actually like 4"10-5"0. We love a short queen :} (if she's your f/o they love hate when you talk about how cute they look at they're actual height ;})

-Because of their mother, they've known how to play piano since they were pretty young. She doesn't really play anymore as she never liked playing in the first place. HOWEVER they only enjoy playing a piano/keyboard is when they play the Keytar. They're really self conscious about it since their mother hated it and its usually seen as a geeky/weird thing to play, so they usually play by themselves at home late at night.

-For some reason she always smells like sugar cookies. Its not any type of lotion or perfume they use either, they somehow always weirdly smell like sugar cookies. Very confusing and misleading if you ever meet them face to face. Them insulting you while looking tall and menacing yet smelling really sweet.

-If Host and Annie were to become friends like I talked about in the other post, they would both show each other their collection of squish mallows. Host doesn't have as many as Annie, but they love their plushies just as much as her. They always buy the bigger ones as well the scented ones. Always exhausted from her show, they can't wait to go home. She loves to get in her pjs and snuggle into a pile of the biggest squishys and have a nice cup of tea.

-They also have a bit of a collection of candles. They usually get the ones that smell like cinnamon, pumpkin pie, or the lemon cookies

-Totally had a homestuck phase as a teenager and now is the "why did I ever read that, why do I still remember all that information and lore? I hate it here" but still always celebrates 413 and totally still has a troll and kidsona (Its been a good while but I see them as a Thief of Heart if anyone reading this understands homestuck). Also had a sonic phase and definitely made their own sona and ocs

guuuuuhhhh at the moment I’ve been in interest purgatory (only having day long hyperfixations besides a few personal projects) but the little interests I’ve had (and some of the overarching ones) aaare:

-writing!!! I’ve loved writing ever since I was a little lad (and not very good at it) I’ve just got a lot of stories to tell and a lot of works I like to edit. I like to think I’m good at critique and storytelling maybe

-My Life the Musical by Maryrose Wood (it’s a book) THIS HAD SO MUCH POTENTIAL I THINK ABOUT IT EVERY DAY!!!!! Looping back to writing I’ve been working on rewriting this because it’s genuine insanity but it had so much potential to be great

-Bronies: the Musical (this time an actual musical) it’s all Instagram’s fault really if they didn’t put the song Sad Trombone up then I wouldn’t have started deep diving. It’s like a music lovechild of Rockabye and Be More Chill with the plot of that one Shrek the Musical song (which is to say, let your freak flag fly)

-Vast Error is kind of a reoccurring one that comes back to haunt me every so often (along with its predecessor…) because I like the art and the writing! It’s a bit of an exposition slog sometimes but overall the art is aesthetically pleasing and it’s always a fun reread

-object shows HEAR ME OUT sorry guys I’ve returned to my roots (middle school) because I’ll think for a second and then I’ll blank out and all of a sudden BFDI is playing and I’m drawing objects with limbs like I’m a seventh grader again. Yay!

-video essays, not really a standard interest but I just like watching and writing them what can I say

-theatre!!! Every time I find a new thing to perform in it’s always on my mind for the entire duration of it. (Instrumental music is in the same boat here)

-Gezebelle Gaburgably, also a music artist I couldn’t get them out of my head for WEEKS like I went on a spree and exclusively listened to Gezebelle for a while. -music in general actually I’m such a music fan I love songs and leitmotifs and all the silly things

SO, to start things off Charlie is a fandom oc for the fnaf fangame Dayshift at Freddy's (specifically a dsaf 3 oc for au reasons) but theres a lot more to him then that- right now Imma b honest his backstory is the more fleshed out thing then his current story cuz despite my dsaf hyperfixation (which is sorta kinda dying out) I was never rlly able to get thru watching a dsaf 3 playthrough so lemmie just graaaaaab the backstory and slap it here (no I'm not I'm tying it out cuz I only gave a tiny bit of it to Lem-)

so Charlie was born & raised in a small town in Colorado with a childhood that wasnt too odd but wasnt great either, he was bullied a lot for being feminine and his parents tried to steer him towards more stereotypically masculine activities & interests but it took several years before it ever really affected him, another issue was Charlie had undiagnosed ADHD & pretty bad mood swings which affected him quite alot and led to his parents usually being angry at him for things he didnt understand he was doing but he was usually resiliant even if he was secretly close to breaking down he just tried to ignore it & move on.

Later on in his life he became super into old-school radio and tv show hosts who had that whole vibe yk? I dunno how to word it so Imma assume you know- but anyways he got super into the persona those radio and show hosts had and started to imitate them almost down to a T and was almost perfectly able to mimic the typical voice they had in his late teens which he used to help further him in his plan to become a host for a simple entertainment show and yknow what? He did manage to get a spot hosting a show on a very local tv channel for about a year but sadly his twist on the classic tv host personality made people not want to watch his show because he acted "too feminine" and slowly ratings dropped until they had to cancel the show and his dreams were essentially ruined because he's quite stubborn and therefore wont (and probably cant) change his personality much just to be more 'palatable' to people since it'll make him seem fake anyways

[ spoilered bit contains death mention ] after that he spent around 3 years hopping from basic job to basic job usually getting fired for some dumb reason or another (cuz his personality was very 'weird' to those around him also this was like the late 70s early 80s they knew he was gay & they wanted him out) but then he found a job at the local resturant ||and yada yada died ngl his story when it starts to properly connect with the dsaf series starts to bore me out but also kind of didnt die at the same time? He ended up in an undead state and since he was still alive|| he was bound to the company forever so he basically got moved around from location to location until the resturant chain crumbled to the ground

then Jack rebooted the resturant chain by opening a new resturant & Charlie got hired as an employee because what else could he really do in his life? Not much- but anyways now he's currently working there and uh lemmie just graaaaaaaaaaaaaaaab some bullshit again & explain his relationship with his friend/crush or bf (depends on the au) Rowan

Rowan was already working at the place before Charlie got hired since Rowan was the 2nd one hired just after the phone guy and one day Charlie tried to strike up some conversation while they were on break which didnt go to well because Charlie's a bit bad at socializing but Rowan saw the effort and later on tried to chat with Charlie which did end up going well and gradually they started to sometimes have conversations while doing misc work stuff & soon they became friends

Charlie was slightly clingy but thankfully respected Rowan's boundries because Charlie had been desperate for an actual friend for years and didnt wanna fuck this chance up so gradually they grew closer and [boom time to au split motherfuckers]

Rack/Rowan x Jack au: Rowan knew Charlie was one of those "single but in a way where he has good relationship advice cuz of that" people & tried to bring up the fact he was catching feelings for someone, Charlie was slightly saddened because he developed a crush on Rowan but he was willing to give advice even if it was slightly obvious this hurt him and Rowan admitted he had a crush on Jack (I am too tired to explain Jack if ykyk if you dont then insert roblox oof sound here) and Charlie gave as much advice as he could because he could handle the fact Rowan didnt like him well enough where it didnt crush him and when Rowan & Jack started dating Charlie was supportive & the crush died down enough where Charlie didnt really care

CottonCandy/Rowan x Charlie au: Charlie slowly developed a crush on Rowan during their friendship and tried to keep it secret & push the thought down until it got too bad & Charlie had to confess sometime soon, that sometime came on a random night when Charlie was being a simping insomniac & had a really big urge to text (oh yeah surprise we're in 2023 timeline wise now) Rowan confessing that he loved them, thankfully Charlie's common sense dulled that down to pulling a "I think I like someone, have any advice?" text then hinting it's Rowan from there which he then proceeded to do, ngl the text was probably basic asf & Rowan sort of got the hint but he denied it at the same time until a week later after their day at work Charlie & Rowan decided to hang out at a local park & Charlie decided to confess to Rowan, Rowan was slightly surprised but also was thinking about the hints from earlier that week and even smaller hints from the past month or so and said he had to take a while to think about it, Charlie tried to remain calm and accepted the fact as best as he could because he thought he was being rejected but a couple days later Rowan texted Charlie saying to come to his place after work & after a few hours of hanging out Rowan said he liked Charlie back too

as a student it was stressful to prepare for exams, you often took your mind off of it by playing genshin, infact thoma was probably the whole reason you joined genshin! you were lucky Thomas was a 4 star! that way you could get him more easily, while wishing on hu tao’s his banner, you luckily got him! under a few ten pulls.

after that you immediately started building him with all your savings, excited that you got your favorite character! his playstyle was fun to play, and you really enjoyed using thoma, maybe using him like all the time when your on genshin?? you were just a huge fan, and it’s not like your hyperfixation would impact anybody right? wrong. Meanwhile, suspicious.. things were happening a few days after you got thoma.

when I say that I mean non-existing voice Lines? lines that your friends swore up to heaven until earth that they didn’t exist, but you simply didn’t mind them! it started getting, well.. a bit extreme after that, such as bosses already defeated, (one time you logged in genshin to fight the pyro hypostasis and... it was already defeated?. Is mihoyo playing a trick on you?) getting extra primogems when you swore you didn’t have that many last time you were on..

and the freakiest thing was that, whenever you were AFK and thoma was there.. creepy voice lines such as ‘why did you leave me hanging? please don’t do that again!’ or.. ‘your room looks really nice! did you decorate it yourself?’ its as if he could see you.. after that you didnt dare to open genshin for a few days, a certain person was not quite happy about that.

he would revive himself, when you swore he was dead last second?! you tried contacting mihoyo.. but they said they never heard about this glitch and couldn’t do anything about it, atleast something along the lines of that.. you were starting to get freaked out, which made you consider buying a new phone and starting all over because you didn’t wanna deal with any creepy stalkers you already have one and he’s ready to pounce.

you were hesitant, hesitant to open genshin, but once you have, your fate will be sealed, and you can’t do anything about it, too bad. As they say: curiosity killed the cat

I'm putting this one first because I've wanted to talk about it for a while, and yeah it should probably be a post of it's own but here we go;

35. Ramble about any fic-related thing you want!

I think there's a real art to being able to write X Reader fics, and I think the more you write, the more nuance you develop in order to weave a story around the reader's characteristics to make it inclusive while also personal. i think there's a conversation to be had about inclusivity in the YouTube x Reader community, and while the heavy prevalence of NB!Reader fics is amazing, we still have to look at what other biases we're inserting into our works. descriptions of, or moments regarding, the reader's skin tone, size, hair, clothing choices, family, etc, should be considered carefully if you're looking to make this as accessible as possible for the wide variety of readers. i appreciate people who specify if they're writing a particular type of reader (chubby!reader, or short-haired!reader, etc) because it sets a precedent for the fic, but if you go in without that caveat and suddenly the reader is being described as tanned or with long wavy hair or something, that breaks the immersion and alienates the readers who don't fit this narrow description. uh, also this is just a small thing, but when writing NB!Readers, don't forget about AMAB nb folks existing and being taken into consideration in your writing.

like i said, there's an art to being able to write around describing the reader, while still making the story feel personal. we just have to think about if what we're writing would make sense if we were not ourselves, if that makes sense???

also just personally i'd like to see more diversity in the people chosen for the representations of the read in IG/SMAU posts.

I actually don't have one definitive answer for this because I've been writing for a very long time so I have a few favourites for different reasons.

The point is, you make friends with him not expecting much beyond a streaming buddy, but then you get talking more often, chatting and joking at all hours in DMs, and he’s calling you sweet nicknames on stream, and you wake up on the first day of your Season coughing up flower petals and cursing yourself for falling for a man who’s first name you don’t even know!

I feel very very lucky and very blessed to receive such lovely and kind comments on the fics that I write, but I've got two that stand out the most in my mind, and it's the comments @bingusmode and @marvelsmurphy left on the aforementioned once you say it out loud it can't be undone {Corpse Husband},,,, literally i would die for both of them. i reread the comments on that fic every so often because everyone is so damn lovely, but i just grin like an idiot and turn into that picture of kermit hugging his phone whenever i read their comments specifically. i love you guys

Happy Hunger Games

Just the Renegade Archangels cast for now, I may do other WIPs later though! I've been hyperfixating a bit, so here you guys go. (Gonna pretend that they all competed separate years, unless otherwise stated)

Nyar

District: 2

Weapon of choice: twin hatchets, sword

Token: his sister's Signet ring

(She was a fallen tribute the year before. Made it to the final three, was expected to win, went out on purpose; giving the Capitol a big ol middle finger)

(To atone for his sister's blatant act of rebellion)

Victor

Typical Career tribute. Brutal, establishes his dominance as the alpha of the Career pack very quickly. Trusts no one.

Final three are all part of the career pack.

He makes quick work of it, and its brutal.

He quickly becomes a Capitol favorite. Not just as a returning mentor, but as a tribute before the Games.

Polite and Charismatic, not to mention attractive, sponsorships came easy.

Frequently interviewed in following Games, usually to discuss strategy and make predictions.

Carina

District: 1

Weapon of choice: caltrop

Token: Crystal hair clip

Victor

Fit in naturally at the Capitol, like most District 1 tributes.

Teamed up with the rest of the Careers until the last 5. She then slipped away while she was keeping watch (slit the District 4 boy's throat on her way out)

Set traps, lived off Sponsor gifts, mostly hid the rest of the Game

Ewan

District: 4

Weapon of choice: spear/trident

Token: mother's necklace

Volunteer

Victor

Was a little on the gruff/quiet side in the interviews. Calculating. Clearly sizing everyone up for a fight.

In the Arena, he fought through the blood bath for some supplies and a spear, then took to ...not exactly hiding

He just went lone wolf

Kept to himself mostly. Fought anyone who crossed his path, but didn't actively seek anyone out until the final three

As a Victor, he really just tried to stay out of the spotlight

Adair

District: 4

Weapon of choice: poison/bow and arrow

Token: doesn't really show it, but its a small, smooth stone that Peadar gave to him.

Won the year after his brother.

As soon as his name was called, he and Ewan knew something was up. The Capitol wanted a show, back to back family victors? Besides, Ewan hadn't exactly been...cooperative. None if their family had been.

Was a bit more personable than his brother was. Where Ewan had been raised eyebrows, calculating looks, and an occasional smirk; Adair was disarming smiles, friendly laughs, left the stage promising to "see you all again soon!"

Like Ewan, he didnt team up with the other Careers.

Like Katniss, he sorta stuck with a few of the younger tributes. He was almost like a Peter Pan. Fed them, Protected them. Cried when each of them got picked off. Was fully intending to get at least one of them to the final two, then slip away to take some nightlock so that the kid could win.

Once the last of the young tributes was gone, it was like a switch flipped.

He started acting more like his brother: cold, distant, calculating. A hunter. Began to hunt, poisoned the last tributes, except for the ones he had to fight.

Showed in his interviews after. He still smiled, he still cracked jokes....but They were darker. His voice harder, his eyes colder.

As a Victor? He joined Ewan in the early days of the rebellion. Waiting for a Mockingjay.

Did everything he could to make sure his little brothers would be ready when-if- their names got called

Avanda

District: 4 (I can't help it, District 4 just kinda gives off Keridwen Vibes)

Weapon of choice: glaive guisarme. (Check this out on Forged in Fire if you wanna see a dope af (and slightly unsettling) badass weapon. Tw: ballistics dummy, gore, violence) lowkey tho this may be her new canon weapon too

Token: a necklace given to her by her sponsor 👀 👀

Victor

Went a little...ya know

The Games hurt her. Bad.

She got a lot of pity sponsors, panic attacks, crying, didn't really seem like Victor material.

Well. Not always anyway. When she wasn't having a break down then she was scary. The scariest tribute the games had seen in a long time.

Made it out alive, a bloodbath on both ends of the games. They nickname her the Bookends Victor because of it.

She and Ewan are a little like Annie and Finnick.

For the most part, Ewan is able to keep her out of the Capitol's spotlight. Between he and Adair, the two of them keep her safe.

Character and Relationship Backstory and an update from me

Hey y'all! I have an update on where I've been at the end of this post for those of y'all who have been following Highschool Casualties and are wondering where I went, but if you've just stumbled across this I don't want to throw a long and random explination at ya!

The characters

Damien Haas

16, sophomore in high school. Hardcore musical theater kid from grades 4-8. Loves to sing and shit. Got quite a few bigger roles early on. Things got busy freshman year, so he had to put things on hold.

(Favorite musical is probably falsettos or something idk I'm not a theater kid.)

(That's a lie, I'm just a bad theater kid XP)

Fucking loves superhero movies and shit because haha irony.

Favorite class is Drama, least favorite is math. Because math is hard and temporary but Shakespeare is forever.

Has an irrational fear of doctors, dentists, and needles due to some surgical mishaps that occurred when he was young. Also has a fear of the ocean.

Deals with anxiety and frequent panic attacks.

Shayne Topp

15, sophomore in high school. Really fucking loves football, but not on the team. He wanted to be, but he use to be friends with some of the people on the football team. And they... weren't the best to say the least. They were bad influences and caused Shayne to do bad things. He's no longer friends with them, but still goes to the games with Courtney and Damien to cheer on Courtny's brothers who are on the team.

Favorite class is probably woodworking, least favorite is math. Because math is hard and temporary but birdhouses are forever.

(Though he's actually really good at math, like he has the capability to take honors and do well. It just isn't fun.)

Doesn't know how to ride a bike and can't swim. Deep water freaks him out.

Has a huge fear of hurting other (because haha irony) and always puts his friends before himself.

Courtney Miller

14, freshman in high school. Loves writing and art. Has a lot of sketchbooks, but most of them are half filled. At this point she just collects cool sketchbooks.

Also love film/acting/drama but has a lot of anxiety around performing, so she ends up being on her school's tech crew. She's really good at editing, and has a passion for behind the scenes work around productions.

Favorite musical is Heathers.

Favorite class is her painting and art history class, least favorite is math. Because math is hard and temporary but art is forever.

Struggls a lot with school. Doesn't have many friends outside of Shayne and Damien, even when it comes to her tech crew. Generally on bad terms with "friends" (bullies) from middle school.

Doesn't enjoy the other people in her class. A few of them are former (or current) bullies from middle school.

Relationships

Damien and Shayne

Met in the first grade, became friends in a very first-grader-like manner.

Shayne: Hey I like your pokemon shirt

Damien: Oh thanks, you wanna play with trucks?

Shayne: Yeah sure.

They’ve been best friends ever since.

They had a bit of a falling out from mid 7th through 8th grade because of the guys Shayne hung out with. They were your average middle school douchbags but a lil worse.

Things got sorted the summer following 8th grade.

When they started high school, Shayne’s older brother would pick Damien up and give him a ride to school every morning; even though Damien was in walking distance.

But a month-ish before their freshman year, Shayne’s family ended up moving closer to Damien’s, because a tree fell through Shayne’s house during a terrible storm that hit their town. Even though it hypothetically could've been fixed, the house was old so they took it as a sign to just move.

Shayne is the only person who knows about Damien's anxiety outside of his family, and is who Damien goes to when he's having heighted anxiety or a panic attack.

They also bond over their fear of water strangly often.

Shayne and Courtney

Courtney’s family moved across the street from Shayne’s family when Courtney was in the 7th grade and Shayne was in the 8th. And after the initial family intoductions when the Millers first moved in, Shayne never talked to Courtney. Until about a month later, when he was home alone and Courtney knocked at his door.

After Shayne asked 'what's up?' Courtney asked if they could be friends.

“Do you know how to play smash?” Shayne asked.

Courtney sighed and let out a defeated ‘no’ and began walking away from the door.

“Ok, I’m gonna teach you how to play.”

They would hang out quite a bit until Shayne moved, but they still talked a lot.

Shayne later found out that Courtney would go door to door asking for friends. Shayne was the first and only person who had actually said yes.

Most people mistake them for siblings and when they find out they aren’t related, they assume they’re dating.

Shayne treats Courtney like a little sister and is very protective of her.

Shayne was fucking LIVID when he found out Courtney was being bullied. As much as he wanted to fight them, Courtney talked him down from doing so.

He still did the whole 'don't fuck with Courtney or I will fucking kill you' big brother thing. It did the trick for a while. When you're a very athletic 15 year old, it's easy to intimidate people that are younger than you.

Courtney hasn't told him about... the current bullies though.

Courtney and Damien

Met through Shayne. He made a group chat with the 3 of them that Shayne named “Operation Friendship”. Since Shayne and Damien weren't on speaking terms when Shayne and Courtney became friends they never had a chance to meet.

But they didn’t meet in person until Courtney’s first day of high school, where the 3 of them had their first class together, conveniently...

Anytime they play video games, a conversation along this happens.

"Courtney where did you learn to play this game?"

"...Shayne"

"Explains why you suck"

"HEY!"

Hey! Thank you so much for reading! It's been awhile hasn't it. Yeah, I'm sorry. My life has been all over the place for the past few months and I've been struggling to find the motivation to write. I don't want to specifics because it's not only very personal, but a long story.

But to summerize why I sorta dissapeared, I had a lot of personal issues going on with both school and home and as my mental health was on this steady, but consistent, decline, it was at its very lowest in December. My home issues had reached their peak, and with the end of the quarter coming up after Xmas break and my weeks worth of late work coming back to bite me, I was too stressed to work on anything I found enjoyable without losing motivation immidiently.

Things didn't start getting better for me until some time early in semester 2 of my year. My school was transitioning back into fully in person with covid rates at their lowest in my area and things were finally feeling consistant again, but I was still getting my bearings. School still felt draining, though much less than before, and I didn't have much energy to work on things I was passionate about. I don't think I even made a new document for chapter 6 until mid-ish March.

I'm very nervious about coming back to this story after so long for many reason. First being, although I am feeling better mentally, things feel very off with writing this story. Don't get me wrong, I have a lot of passion to write this story and want to see it to completion, I've just had a fluxuating interest in smosh aswell. I enjoy the channel, just not as much as I use to. And my hyperfixation on Smosh was a big drive for me writing the story. Second being that I have so much writers block around the sixth chapter of this story, and I'm worried that as soon as I try to work on it, that block will make me lose my motivation again and I'll put it off for another 6 months.

This "chapter" (idk what else I'd call this) has probably been fully finished in my drafts for about a month now, and I've been putting off posting it because of those listed anxieties, but I really want to continue writing this story so I hope you enjoyed!

Also sorry if this explination was all over the place, I just got my first covid vaccine today and am feeling kinda bleh.

Crow’s List of Some IF I’ve played

I’m just listing off stuff here I’ll probably go more in depth in another post I suppose. this got real long so here we go, in no real logical order:

Birdland: technically the first IF work I played I guess, it’s funny and weird and I’ve played it many times. Stuff in Twine is often good to start out with imo because it’s more like CYOA which is more comfortable.

The Dreamhold: i have no memory of how i even got here in the first place but this was often listed as a good one for beginners bc it guides you through it. It’s got such beautiful descriptions and is very cool, though personally I’d recommend Bronze more for beginners to the text-inputting kind of games. I liked it a lot though, I named my ACNH island after it lol. One thing ppl say a lot about it is that it has all this stuff in it but leaves it unexplained, and while I’d like an explanation I also enjoy that it leaves it open-ended. I’ve only gotten one ending myself bc it took me so long to finish that i didn’t feel like going back and trying to get a new ending but it was a cool ending.

Bronze: someone whose url I forget atm told me this was a good game for beginners and I agree. There are also nice maps available and stuff which is helpful bc I’m bad w spatial awareness (i tried to map dreamhold on my own and it was a disaster). It’s got a good premise and I like Beauty & the beast (idk when i was a kid i loved belle bc she also liked to read!!! and i was in a production of the musical and that was fun) and it’s a cool twist on that and i like the different ending it gives. AFTER you play it you really should read Emily Short’s writeup about the inspiration behind the game and how she plotted it. It’s a good beginner game bc it has a tutorial mode, the puzzles aren’t too difficult (they mainly center around one thing) and it teaches you about things like reexamining rooms, examining things, using the different sense commands, solving puzzles by climbing on things and other stuff.

Shade: This is by the same guy who made The Dreamhold and is highly regarded and considered this really great work for its unnerving and surreal horror. I’m gonna be honest: it didn’t do it for me. Admittedly this was like the second (well, third) IF i played and i didn’t quite know the Tropes and stuff so essentially i felt like i was spamming commands until everything turned into sand, instead of trying to do things only to have the world crumble into sand around me. I don’t feel like replaying it now that I have more experience, but my advice is don’t play it until you’ve played more games, it’s not enjoyable as a newbie.

9:05: another short game that would not be enjoyable as a newbie. the joke is a twist on certain IF tropes and it’s probably not as funny if you’re inexperienced. I recently played this so I enjoyed it, it was funny, but the joke might’ve gotten lost on me if i played it a month ago. Sidenote: I’ve only been playing IF for about a month, so technically I am a newbie, but when I say newbie here i mean really new. Also ive hyperfixated and have nothing better to do so i have played a lot of IF in this short amount of time. 

De Baron: OOOH ok so this game i downloaded a little bit ago, completely forgot all the stuff i read about it (like that there was a twist and stuff) except that it was horror, and then played it. Because of this, and the fact that I’m still no veteran player, I didn’t see the twist coming and it really hit me hard. This is a cool game, upsetting but very intriguing but really not for everyone because it deals with some very disturbing material. I’ve seen people say the twist was obvious which kind of makes me feel stupid :( and like in hindsight when i replayed it i totally saw the hints so basically i think the obviousness of the twist depends on the person! 

Spider and Web: This is not the game for you if you really like the five zillion endings options, theres two (or three?) ‘real endings’ and they are both at the very end of the same path. It does have difficult and interesting puzzles, including this one that it’s famous for. It’s a good puzzle, but don’t let your opinion and enjoyment of the game hinge on this puzzle, bc it’s got other great puzzles and other great stuff going on. Save frequently and DO NOT attempt this without some experience, it’s fucking hard.

Blue Chairs: I didn’t like this game. It was one of the earlier games i played but I just didn’t really like it. it was cool in a mindscrew-y way and it’s got a bunch of endings and a lot to explore but i just didn’t find it fun to play. It took me forever to get several endings and this was probably partially due to inexperience but it just made it unenjoyable for me. Don’t let my experience ruin it for you but personally i just did not like it. It’s a very surreal game bc the PC is literally on drugs. There seems to be a bunch of symbolism and allusion stuff that I didn’t really get but could be cool. basically it is probably a very cool game for some ppl but i didn’t like it.

Galatea: lives up to the hype imo. there’s 70 different endings. It’s not a long game and it is centered around talking to a statue but it is a very interesting game and also one that isn’t that hard. I really like this one.

Glass: by the same person who wrote Bronze, it’s another twist on a fairy tale. It’s very short and you can’t do anything but talk. Another good beginner one because it’s not too complex, and it does a good job with using the reader’s familiarity with the tale. Read her writeup about creating it after you get a few endings it’s interesting. 

Little Blue Men: I just played this one and it’s weird and sinister and has a great built-in hint system. it’s really fucking weird though and like the author says, it doesn’t have a nice neat satisfying ending.
