yeah i caved. welcome spideysona
their universe is 1990s san francisco. by day they work as a struggling writer for the bugle, sort of following in the footsteps of (movie-adjacent) eddie brock; by night they’re spider-scrawl, fighting systemic injustice, writers’ block, and the occasional mad scientist invention. his world is less rife with supernatural evils than most, but he’s also fucking with the government and corporations and all, so it balances out
their unique thing is that they have, like, shitty meta clairvoyance in the form of inherently understanding tropes, clichés, story structure, etc. like if cinemasins/wins were a superhero. they were approached to join the society because miguel thought they’d be chill or even helpful with canon events—unfortunately scribble here is not whatsoever into following rigid plot structure for the sake of unnecessary thematic suffering, saw the plot twist a miles away, and peaced. but not before snagging a day pass so they could watch atsv in person
they never take off their mask, and no one knows their name—he says it’s because he doesn’t want to lose his identity in a sea of spider-people, leading most to theorize that san-fran-spidey is some flavor of peter parker, but who’s to say for sure? the doylist reason, which he is in fact aware of, is that i don’t know either lol

You're still standing off to the side. Somehow, center stage has shifted from under your feet without you realizing, and you're standing in the wings, performing to no one.

Headcanon #500:
Mind is afraid that when he distances himself from or above the others, that he will be too far gone to come back down. That when his paranoia gets the best of him, he'll shut everyone else out and then be completely alone with no way back to where he was before.
Heart is afraid that if Mind is right, with the idea that what he does isn't genuine, that he's being manipulative without realizing it. Then therefore being Whole without himself there is the better option. That he'd be thrown out because his ideas would then be "not worth it" or even "vile"
Soul is afraid that no matter what he does or how good things will be, they'll always eventually split up again or even end up worse. Even then he has no clue what he's supposed to do or be during everything, and so because of that he'll never be whole. Or worse that he'll never really "feel" whole.

Misunderstandings
Fanart for the fic Desideratum (posted on AO3) by @fianightshade !
Specifically for the chapter 11 'Turning point'. I periodically reread it just to feel the emotional turmoil of the scene again

it is so vitally important to me that aziraphale and crowley not only love each other but choose to love each other.
i don’t want it to be fate. i don’t want it to be god’s will. i want it to be a conscious and continuous choice.
i want aziraphale choosing every day of his goddamn existence to love crowley and all that he is. i want aziraphale choosing to love crowley not in spite of being a demon, but because he is a demon. i want aziraphale choosing to love crowley’s curiosity and creative wonder. i want aziraphale choosing to love crowley’s love of plants and gardening.
i want crowley choosing to love aziraphale’s passion for books. i want crowley choosing to love aziraphale’s desire to do things the human way even if he could just miracle it. i want crowley choosing to love aziraphale’s angel-ness because it is a fundamental part of him.
i want aziraphale choosing to love everything about crowley and vise versa. and i want it to be a very conscious and intentional choice.
it being fate negates the entire point of the story. good omens is a love story between an angel and a demon, yes. but that’s not all that it is. it’s a story about two occult/ethereal beings who choose humanity over the great plan. two beings who choose the world over armageddon. and they make those choices because despite it all they have chosen to fall in love with the world and with humanity.
it only makes sense that they choose each other. that they choose their love. it being fate or god’s will ruins the foundational pillar of their relationship. that they choose each other over and over and over again. year after year, century after century, time and time again. they always choose. they choose the arrangement, they choose saving the other from harm, they choose lying to protect the other.
it is always a choice. and it better stay a choice or i am going to be so devastated.

Simon, if you could have anything in the world, what would it be?
Salvation for the people. So that they no longer seek out Dracula’s resurrection, borne from their hurt, famine, disease, and their loss of faith.
I know how selfish it sounds—that I desire for the Belmonts to be relieved of their duty.
I cannot deny that I would be glad for the cycle to end.
I do not wish for my son to shoulder that burden when I pass.
Any father would want the same.

Defiant whumpees are more fun to write, but sensitive whumpees will always be my favorite
Whumpees that are sensitive to even slight pain. One slap and they’re already a crying, begging mess on the ground
Whumpees that are sensitive to insults. Whumper just has to insult them once and Whumpee is willing to do anything for Whumper to take those words back
Whumpees that are sensitive to the sight of blood. They faint as soon as they see their own/someone else’s stab wound
Whumpees that are sensitive to other people’s emotions. Whumper either monologues or accidentally lets it slip that something awful once happened to them, and Whumpee actually grows sympathetic
Whumpees that are sensitive to certain clothes. Whumper catches onto their sensory issues and starts making them wear clothes they don’t like
It’d also just be fun to see Whumper’s reactions to any of these. They could be shocked, annoyed, or they might actually like Whumpee’s reactions.
Sorry for ranting, I just had to get that out lol.

Not all who wander are lost - Central Shroud
The Mirror Planks │ Bentbranch │ Gabineaux's Bower │ Everschade
"Our first meeting? Hmm... I was called to heal one of the Wood Wailers posted at Galvanth's Spire. Fairly ordinary case - the man had been mildly injured by some pack of critters, and instead of leaving his partner to guard the road alone it was easier to send one of the cojurers to tend to him.
When it was time to head back to the city, both he and his partner kept warning me of some diremites that had been causing trouble on the road near the West Vein. Diremites weren't really that troublesome, but they were pretty insistent, so I promised them I'd take the detour through the Jadeite Thick to ease their worries a bit.
Walk back home was rather uneventful, but closer to the city gates I could hear some faint groans few yalms off the path. Remembering the diremites, I pushed through the bushes to take a look - and found an beaten up elezen man on the ground.
I healed him and kept him company until his legs felt strong enough to carry him back to the city. Not like I could have hauled the man back to city myself... he was almost twice my height, and had a lot stronger build than me. From his training as a lancer, I learned during our chat. Draevoux Chevalier, he introduced himself. A duskwight who, like me, had left his home to study in Gridania. Unlike most elezen, he was happy to chat about pretty much everything - even the thing that led him to get injured so badly.
Drae, as the man had asked me to call him, had been looking for stronger foes to test his lance on. He had started a fight with a treant sapling, apparently not knowing they were pretty strong despite their generally calm behaviour. Not the brightest idea, but I had to commend his bravery."
