Things Biden and the Democrats did, this week #13
April 5-12 2024
President Biden announced the cancellation of a student loan debt for a further 277,000 Americans. This brings the number of a Americans who had their debt canceled by the Biden administration through different means since the Supreme Court struck down Biden's first place in 2023 to 4.3 million and a total of $153 billion of debt canceled so far. Most of these borrowers were a part of the President's SAVE Plan, a debt repayment program with 8 million enrollees, over 4 million of whom don't have to make monthly repayments and are still on the path to debt forgiveness.
President Biden announced a plan that would cancel student loan debt for 4 million borrowers and bring debt relief to 30 million Americans The plan takes steps like making automatic debt forgiveness through the public service forgiveness so qualified borrowers who don't know to apply will have their debts forgiven. The plan will wipe out the interest on the debt of 23 million Americans. President Biden touted how the plan will help black and Latino borrowers the most who carry the heavily debt burdens. The plan is expected to go into effect this fall ahead of the election.
President Biden and Vice-President Harris announced the closing of the so-called gun show loophole. For years people selling guns outside of traditional stores, such as at gun shows and in the 21st century over the internet have not been required to preform a background check to see if buyers are legally allowed to own a fire arm. Now all sellers of guns, even over the internet, are required to be licensed and preform a background check. This is the largest single expansion of the background check system since its creation.
The EPA published the first ever regulations on PFAS, known as forever chemicals, in drinking water. The new rules would reduce PFAS exposure for 100 million people according to the EPA. The Biden Administration announced along side the EPA regulations it would make available $1 billion dollars for state and local water treatment to help test for and filter out PFAS in line with the new rule. This marks the first time since 1996 that the EPA has passed a drinking water rule for new contaminants.
The Department of Commerce announced a deal with microchip giant TSMC to bring billions in investment and manufacturing to Arizona. The US makes only about 10% of the world's microchips and none of the most advanced chips. Under the CHIPS and Science Act the Biden Administration hopes to expand America's high-tech manufacturing so that 20% of advanced chips are made in America. TSMC makes about 90% of the world's advanced chips. The deal which sees a $6.6 billion dollar grant from the US government in exchange for $65 billion worth of investment by TSMC in 3 high tech manufacturing facilities in Arizona, the first of which will open next year. This represents the single largest foreign investment in Arizona's history and will bring thousands of new jobs to the state and boost America's microchip manufacturing.
The EPA finalized rules strengthening clean air standards around chemical plants. The new rule will lower the risk of cancer in communities near chemical plants by 96% and eliminate 6,200 tons of toxic air pollution each year. The rules target two dangerous cancer causing chemicals, ethylene oxide and chloroprene, the rule will reduce emissions of these chemicals by 80%.
the Department of the Interior announced it had beaten the Biden Administration goals when it comes to new clean energy projects. The Department has now permitted more than 25 gigawatts of clean energy projects on public lands, surpass the Administrations goal for 2025 already. These solar, wind, and hydro projects will power 12 million American homes with totally green power. Currently 10 gigawatts of clean energy are currently being generated on public lands, powering more than 5 million homes across the West.
The Department of Transportation announced $830 million to support local communities in becoming more climate resilient. The money will go to 80 projects across 37 states, DC, and the US Virgin Islands The projects will help local Infrastructure better stand up to extreme weather causes by climate change.
The Senate confirmed Susan Bazis, Robert White, and Ann Marie McIff Allen to lifetime federal judgeships in Nebraska, Michigan, and Utah respectively. This brings the total number of judges appointed by President Biden to 193

content: murder, noncon, haechan x reader
note: for @revehae because she came to mind while i typed this 🫶🏼
haechan liked yours best and seems like everyone else did, too. views, sales, and praise unlike what he had seen before. the numbers rising so fast he could hardly keep up. he felt satisfied and proud, it was a strange sensation in his chest that he wasn't used to, but he couldn't help it. you were just perfect. haechan believes you'll always linger in his mind, the subject of his favorite creation.
his movies are amateur, but he thinks that is what makes them so desirable. most of the ones he came across feature high-quality cameras, blinding lights, specialized tools, and expensive disguises. but haechan's are shot on his outdated cellphone, his face concealed by a cheap plastic mask, an almost transparent white that he thinks resembled some sort of canvas, perfect for him to keep after it was all over. a little canvas for his work, splattered with unique patterns of crimson blood.
his movies take place in a stereotypical van, lined with thin blankets and flat pillows, natural light beaming through the dirt-splattered windows because haechan could never wait for dark. sometimes, the camera was propped on various objects, slanted or facing the ceiling, leaving only the sound of his lightly distorted laughing backing screams of terror, as the real show commenced.
haechan had known he would like yours most.
he had always liked the sound of your voice. the way you'd call out to him with a steaming cup in hand every morning. he just yearned to hear it beneath him, bouncing off metal walls, and eventually, blaring through the speakers of his computer. he was correct, of course. your screeches were like those in his favorite horror films, making his heart race and his pants tighten. the deep inhale as your chest heaved when he pushed himself into you with nothing more than a lazy trickle of saliva to help him glide inside. the sticky, wet noises that grew louder with each brutal movement of his hips.
haechan always liked the color of your skin, too. the way it looked against the tones of your clothing, complimented the metals of your jewelry, and blanketed the rest of your enticing frame, each curve and dip colored in that perfect shade. it looked even better when it was painted crimson. each slow and intended slice splitting your skin, allowing it to part and expose the pink interior that flooded with red liquid. the droplets of your blood rolling down your sides, your cheeks, your arms, and his favorite, your neck.
haechan was always one to play with his toys. each drawn out second exciting him, filling him with with the desire to do more. to draw out a new reaction, a new cry, plead, or facial expression.
he had decided to deceive you, something he had never done before. he let his voice shake as he babbled apology after apology, the sound distorted by plastic. he was so sorry. he just couldn’t control it. what could he do to make it up to you?
you hadn’t believed him, but you had played along anyway, claiming to accept his remorseful words. you took his hand, trembling as he helped you up. he covered up a snort with a sniffle, watching you like a predator on prey as you used the last of your strength to inch away from him. your fingers had grazed the fabric of your clothing, your eyes hesitantly leaving his figure.
haechan’s tongue darted between his cracked lips as he delivered the last blow. the loud sound gone as fast as it had begun, ending with a dwindling wheeze through your mouth. he even liked the silence afterward, the quiet singing of birds, and his satisfied sigh as he leaned back, putting his weight on his heels.
from that moment, haechan knew he would like yours most. his favorite movie star.

____________________________________
You close your eyes and think back to that very fateful day — the day that entirely altered your life's course and shatter any semblance of normalcy you once knew. The memory is etched in your mind, clear and vivid. The secret your café had.
You had always dreamed of owning your very own café when you get older. It had always consumed your thoughts and fueled your ambitions. Doing everything you can to be able to make your dream come true. It was a dream that guided you through your highs and lows, the setbacks and triumphs, and now, your very own cafe is now right infront of your eyes. You stand awe, gazing upon your newly built dream café that represents your years of hard work and dedication. It almost feels surreal. The weight of such an accomplishment settles in your shoulders, filling with a sense of pride that it threatens to burst out of your chest.
The obstacles and challenges you faced along the way have not gone unnoticed. The countless hours of planning, the sacrifices made, the hurdles overcome—each scar and battle wound a testament to your unwavering determination. They have shaped you into the person you are today, a person who is standing on the precipice of their own extraordinary creation. In this moment, you can't help but reflect on how far you have come. You just want to curl up into a ball and cry for how proud you are for yourself.
As you approach the door to your café, your hand trembles with anticipation. You grasp the smooth handle, feeling the coolness of the metal against your palm, and slowly turn it. The door swung open, emitting a soft creak that pierced the silence. Above it, a small, quaint bell dangled delicately, waiting to be disturbed. The cascade of delicate notes wove together seamlessly, announcing your presence, like a whispered greeting to anyone who would listen.
You stare in awe and wonder at the interior design of your cafe , captivated by it's beauty. The space exceeds your imagination and sketches, each detail meticulously brought to life. You explore every corner, your eyes eager to take in every detail. The plants you selected with great care breathe life into the space, their vibrant green leaves adding a touch of freshness and enhancing the cozy, warm aura you envisioned. Sunlight steams through the windows, casting a golden glow that illuminates upon your carefully handpicked furniture, adding a touch of charm. Every detail, from the placement of tables and chairs to the color palette and textures and to the shelf placed at the wall behind the counter with small sized standees of genshin impact, comes together harmoniously, painting a reality that is more beautiful than it was in your imagination.
You took one last look at your own café, only to catch sight of a door that had seemingly materialized out of thin air. It wasn't in your sketches, nor was it part of the layout you had memorized. How could something so out of place suddenly appear in your beloved café? How weird. You were sure that when you went inside this café it was never there. It was on the opposite side of the front entrance door of your café. It had a very different kind of design from the doors you had. How weird . Were you perhaps hallucinating? Was your stress and sleep deprivation finally getting to you? You resort to pinching and slapping your cheeks in an attempt to jolt yourself back to reality. Nope. You can still see it. You rushed to go outside of your café. As you step out into the open, your eyes scanning the exterior, you're met with a surprising revelation—the door you saw inside your café is nowhere to be found. It's as if it had vanished into thin air, leaving you bewildered and questioning your senses.
Nonetheless, you breathed a heavy sigh of relief and once again went inside of your café, blaming your hallucination to your stress. However, as your eyes scanned the interior again, you saw the door still there.
'Oh, hell no.' You thought and quickly opened the front door again, took a look at the exterior, look at the door inside, and continued doing that action for a minute. Yup, you're officialy hallucinating.
You looked at the strange door and felt a nagging feeling of curiousity wanting to try and open that door. Maybe it was actually a big ass sticker that one of the builders placed as a prank. You never know. Steeling yourself, you went closer to the door on your tippy toes. Carefully trying to be quiet. Why? You don't know. You just knew you had to. Maybe it was an instinct of yours. You were now infrot of the door and you tried reaching for the door knob still thinking it was a sticker but the coolness feeling in your hands said uno reverse. You abruptly took back your hand in shock. You stared down at the atrocity in front of you. You quickly raised your foot and took off your shoes/heel/slipper and held onto it tightly. Preparing yourself to open the door, you took in a deep breath and reached for the door knob once more. Twisting it open, a ray of sunlight shone through the small crack as you pushed the door open gently.
Your eyes widen at the sight infront of you as you had fully opened the door. The grip your hand had on your lethal weapon widened and it slipped from your hands. The sight infront of you was so surreal. 'This can't be true, right?' your head was going to so many places, unable to comprehend what was going on. You felt kinda dizzy.
You would be a fool not to recognize this place that you had seen so many times throughout your life. A few kilometers infront of you was the City of Mondstadt in view. You could even see the knights guarding the gate and Timmie with his pigeons at the bridge.
The weird door from your cafe was actually a door to the Genshin Impact world. Wow... wtf.

[A]nti-homeless laws [...] rooted in European anti-vagrancy laws were adapted across parts of the Japanese empire [...] at the turn of the 20th century. [...] [C]riminalising ideas transferred from anti-vagrancy statutes into [contemporary] welfare systems. [...] [W]elfare and border control systems - substantively shaped by imperial aversions to racialised ideas of uncivilised vagrants - mutually served as a transnational legal architecture [...] [leading to] [t]oday's modern divides between homeless persons, migrants, and refugees [...].
---
By the Boer Wars (1880–1902), Euro-American powers and settler-colonial governments professed anxieties about White degeneration and the so-called “Yellow Peril” alongside other existential threats to White supremacy [...]. Japan [...] validated the creation of transnational racial hierarchies as it sought to elevate its own global standing [...]. [O]ne key legal instrument for achieving such racialised orders was the vagrancy concept, rooted in vagrancy laws that originated in Europe and proliferated globally through imperial-colonial conquest [...].
[A]nti-vagrancy regulation [...] shaped public thinking around homelessness [...]. Such laws were applied as a “criminal making device” (Kimber 2013:544) and "catch-all detention rationale" (Agee 2018:1659) targeting persons deemed threats for their supposedly transgressive or "wayward interiority" (Nicolazzo 2014:339) measured against raced, gendered, ableist, and classed norms [...]. Through the mid-20th century, vagrancy laws were aggressively used to control migration [and] encourage labour [...]. As vagrancy laws fell out of favour, [...] a "vagrancy concept" nonetheless thrived in welfare systems that similarly meted out punishment for ostensible vagrant-like qualities [...], [which] helps explain why particular discourses about the mobile poor have persisted to date [...].
---
During high imperialism (1870–1914), European, American, and Japanese empires expanded rapidly, aided by technologies like steam and electricity. The Boer Wars and Japan's ascent to Great Power status each profoundly influenced trans-imperial dynamics, hardening Euro-American concerns regarding a perceived deterioration of the White race. [...] Through the 1870s [...] the [Japanese] government introduced modern police forces and a centralised koseki register to monitor spatial movement. The koseki register, which recorded geographic origins, also served as a tool for marking racialised groups including Ainu, Burakumin, Chinese, [...] and Korean subjects across Japan's empire [...]. The 1880 Penal Code contained Japan's first anti-vagrancy statute, based on French models [...]. Tokyo's Governor Matsuda, known for introducing geographic segregation of the rich and poor, expressed concern around 1882 for kichinyado (daily lodgings), which he identified as “den[s] for people without fixed employment or [koseki] registration” [...].
Attention to “vagrant foreigners” (furō-gaikokujin) emerged in Japanese media and politics in the mid-1890s. It stemmed directly from contemporary British debates over immigration restrictions targeting predominantly Jewish “destitute aliens” [...].
The 1896 Landing Regulation for Qing Nationals barred entry of “people without fixed employment” and “Chinese labourers” [...], justified as essential "for maintaining public peace and morals" in legal documents [...]. Notably, prohibitions against Chinese labourers were repeatedly modified at the British consulate's behest through 1899 to ensure more workers for [the British-affiliated plantation] tea industry. [...]
---
Simultaneously, new welfaristic measures emerged alongside such punitive anti-vagrancy statutes. [...] Such border control regulations were eventually standardised in Japan's first immigration law, the 1918 Foreigners’ Entry Order. [...] This turn towards instituting racialised territorial boundaries should be understood in light of empire's concurrent welfarist turn [...]. Japanese administration established a quasi-carceral workhouse system in 1906 [in colonized territory of East Asia] [...] which sentenced [...] vagrants to years in workhouses. This law still treated vagrancy as illegal, but touted its remedy of compulsory labour as welfaristic. [...] This welfarist tum led to a proliferation of state-run programmes [...] connecting [lower classes] to employment. Therein, the vagrancy concept became operative in sorting between subjects deemed deserving, or undeserving, of aid. Effectively, surveillance practices in welfare systems mobilised the vagrancy concept to, firstly, justify supportive assistance and labour protections centring able-bodied, and especially married, Japanese men deemed “willing to work” and, secondly, withhold protections from racialised persons for their perceived waywardness [...] as contemporaneous Burakumin, Korean, and Ainu movements frequently protested [...]. [D]uring the American occupation (1945–1952), not only were anti-vagrancy statutes reinstituted in Japan's 1948 Minor Offences Act, but [...] the 1946 Livelihood Protection Act (Article 2) excluded “people unwilling to work or lazy” from social insurance coverage [...].
---
Imperial expansion relied on not only claiming new markets and territories, but also using borders as places for negotiating legal powers and personhood [...]. Japan [...] integrated Euro-American ideas and practices attached to extraterritorial governance, like exceptionalism and legal immunity, into its legal systems. [...] (Importantly, because supportive systems [welfare], like punitive ones, were racialised to differentially regulate mobilities according to racial-ethic hierarchies, they were not universally beneficial to all eligible subjects.) [...]
At the turn of the century, imperialism and industrial capitalism had co-produced new transnational mobilities [which induced mass movements of poor and newly displaced people seeking income] [...]. These mobilities - unlike those celebrated in imperial travel writing - conflicted with racist imaginaries of who should possess freedom of movement, thereby triggering racialised concerns over vagrancy [...]. In both Euro-American and Japanese contexts, [...] racialised “lawless” Others (readily associated with vagrancy) were treated as threats to “public order” and “public peace and morals”. [...] Early 20th century discourse about vagrants, undesirable aliens, and “vagrant foreigners” [...] produced [...] "new categories of [illegal] people" [...] that cast particular people outside of systems of state aid and protection. [...] [P]ractices of illegalisation impress upon people, “the constant threat of removal, of being coercively forced out and physically removed [...] … an expulsion from life and living itself”.

Sacred beings (pt.1)
Albert Wesker X fem! Reader
Summary: She was a creation of his, supposed to have died during the difficult process, she was labeled as dead, but she managed to escape and now he's the one to hunt her down...
[before you read I’d like to inform you that this fanfic is going to have up to 30 parts. It’s not based on the main storyline of Resident evil so please don’t get mad after reading this, I warned you beforehand. Anyway I hope you enjoy it and let me know if you would want more!]
It was late in the evening in the headquarters of Umbrella corporation. The scientists have been switching their positions, some leaving for the day and others coming to take over their place for the night, yet the number has visibly lessened. There were a few that refused to leave most of the time, but those are the fools that sold their souls for the experiments that'd make every normal human's stomach twist in disgust.
Y/N, the one who's been stripped off her name, who already forgot who she's been before being dragged to this hell of a place, before all she could hear were her own screams of agony followed by a terrifying echo in the hallway. She was special. She was labeled as fragile goods, meant to be tested carefully, by the best of the best and only most trusted scientists were allowed to break inside her comfort space to observe her, like an exotic animal locked in a cage. The fact that she's been there for so long alone made her special, the fact that she survived most cruel experiments, until one...
"Test subject 087 has escaped!" The voice is nothing but a mere echo through the empty hallways, all painted in cold colors to match the laboratory interior. There were guns, many of them, as heavily armored men have entered. "Close all the exits, no one is allowed to leave the building." The voice continues, it's emotionless, calm, too much for any human being. As the speakers tremble with each word, the employees make sure to obey, staying in the same positions they've been in. Of course, they wouldn't want to get into any trouble, knowing how cruel Umbrella's politics can be.
The young woman, in her late twenties, was sneaking around the place, hiding behind every other corner in hopes that the exit is close. This was either run or die situation, there was nothing else she could do, although her weakened body tried to resist every single move she made. There were no shoes covering her bare feet and each step onto the cold floor sent shivers down her spine. She moved quickly and quietly, like a fox even though her head was spinning and her vision blurry. The cameras in every corner were obvious, so she only made sure to hide her face in high hopes of them not recognizing her. She barely had a few minutes to disappear before they run at her with guns and shields to get rid off another thing they created. No, she couldn't let it be that way. She wanted to live, she craved it, the feeling of being alive, free.
In one room, where a man named Oswell Earl Spencer has been occupied by the newest reports made by his subordinates until now, was already a plan to be made. He's been a clever man, that is for sure, determined to reach his goals at all cost, no matter the losses nor pain caused to the innocent.
"Send for him," he'd order one of the guards. He didn't even need to say the name out loud, it was his obvious favorite, his greatest creation that was capable of handling such a situation. "He's responsible for her. Tell him to catch her." He adds, tapping a finger on the surface of his desk impatiently. He jerks his head towards the door, to make the other man hurry and make the order clear. A dead meat has escaped, an experiment that was supposed to be far from alive, on the other side even. Yes, she was pronounced dead just early this morning and yet, when the sun came down and the darkness took over the world, that's when she seemed to have been resurrected and miraculously brought back to life. It was one of the very few failures of the feared and respected Albert Wesker, the one who was infected himself and who was supposed to make that woman the same, perhaps even better, however he was almost sure of that she would not survive the virus, not when it wasn't fully developed, he thought that when he saw her in the morning, it was the last time. He's seen her take her last breath, seen her eyes wide open with nothing but emptiness in them, not even the fear she used to possess was there. The virus didn't even create a 'superior' form of her body, no changes to be seen at all. It was just... nothing. The devastating truth hit him like a bus, he was not meant to disappoint again... His failure was something that enraged him, way more than the life that was lost. He's the best of the best, so why did he fail again? He spent the rest of the day turning his usually peaceful office upside down, searching for any type of clue on what he did wrong. But now that she's disappeared, there's hope, there's hope that she might be a worthy person, someone in whom lies the future as much as in him.
Wesker is quick to jump to his feet when he hears the order, his eyes widening in hope. He's going to find her... He's going to hunt her down and bring her back, no matter what...

ART NOUVEAU
Art Nouveau appears at the end of the 19th century and spreads widely across Europe and the United States. It draws inspiration from the Japanese, Oriental, Byzantine and Celtic arts as well as Impressionism.                                                      The peculiarities of the style are highlighted decoration and strong interest in the ornament and curve line. Stylised floral motifs and human images combined with asymmetric compositions are used. The emotional suggestions that are inherent in style are: refinement, elegancy, spirituality, variability, expressiveness, romance, love, tenderness, nostalgia, dreaminess.

On the one hand, it is the English Arts and Crafts movement from the middle of the nineteenth century and headed by William Morris. The basis of this movement is Morris's idea of affirming the value of handmade handicrafts against the industrial products. His followers replace cheap mass production with quality handmade items. They stem from the beauty of natural forms, the tradition of old medieval styles and folklore.
On the other hand, the ideas of Art Nouveau are also based on the works of Augustus Pugin, who seeks reforming society through the plastic forms of Gothic, which he considers to be the bearer of Christian values. The artists and designers of the 1990s developed the ideas of Puigin and Morris and enriched them with new forms and materials. This also determines the aesthetic basis of the new style. The materials used for everyday use are very high quality.
It has been assumed that all forms of plastic visualisation are equally valuable (until this moment it is believed that such activities are under the artist's dignity.)
The essence of Art Nouveau is that the art shape is particularly important, it is even more important than the content and even the most prosaic content can be represented in a highly artistic shape.
Another important aesthetic feature is the appearance of the female figure. Portraits of women are common in this style. The most common image is just a woman as a center of composition, in the way that the figure is an integral part of the ornament in the whole.
Tumblr media
The art of posters is also developing in Paris. The emblem of this art becomes Alphonse Mucha. He designs theatrical posters and settings, but also made designs multiple packaging and patterns for mass consumption. Frequently used in them are stylised images of women whose long hair has been turned into complex decorative ornaments.
Tumblr media
Like many of his peers Toulouse Lautrec follows the principles of Japanese engraving, which is based on the flat construction of the shapes, the exaggerated facial expressions and the strong theatrical compositions. The objects of his inspiration are dancers, actresses, singers, courtesans. He works a lot in the field of poster and advertising, raising this genre to the level of real art.
Tumblr media
Gustav Klimt is the leading figure of the Vienna Secession. His works are very decorative and filled with erotism. Again, the woman is his main inspiration and is elevated to a cult.
Tumblr media
In conclusion, Art Nouveau is one of the last attempts to create a common style in plastic arts, architecture, interior and furniture design, poster, book design, and more.
Tumblr media
The aim of the architect, the artist, the designer is the creation of a synthetically complete work of art that enters the private life of man through the items that surrounds him. That's why this style is cosmopolitan.
As far as Art Nouveau artists and designers are concerned, it can be said that they develop and enrich the ideas of Pugin and Morris, and because of everything listed above we can define their work as a top-class art.

Outside the AMC Box: 1966 American Motors AMX II Concept
Posted on March 19, 2024 by MCG
To create the AMX II, AMC design chief Richard Teague reached outside his own styling studios and brought in independent designer and builder Vince Gardner.
Tumblr media
In his long tenure as vice president of design at American Motors from 1964 to 1983, Richard A. Teague earned a reputation for working outside the box. This constant drive to be different could be seen, for example, in the four Project IV concept vehicles his design staff prepared for a 1966 promotional tour, with displays in six major American cities. For one of the Project IV cars, the AMX II, Teague reached outside the box a little further and brought in an independent designer, Vincent E. Gardner.
Tumblr media
Among car designers, Vince Gardner had a remarkable skill set. In addition to being a talented stylist, he was also a highly capable clay modeler and fabricator. As a kid fresh out of high school, he prepared the clay model for the 1936 Cord 810, working alongside designer Gordon A. Buehrig. His own design credits include the 1947 Gardner Special, the 1953 Vega sports car, and the 1964 Mustang III, while the 1962 Thunderbird Italien and 1968 Dodge Charger III are among the concept vehicles he constructed for the automakers.
While the AMX II was Gardner’s creation, it didn’t look at all out of place among the other three Project IV concept vehicles, integrating nicely. (See our feature on the Project IV Cavalier here.) According to the American Motors press materials, the AMX II was intended to expand on the theme of the AMX sports car concept, which made its public debut in the Project IV program
Eight inches longer than the AMX, the AMX II included room for four passengers and a generous trunk. (AMX stood for American Motors eXperimental.) Though it almost doesn’t look it, the wheelbase was a full 110 inches, with a shape that could remind you of the 1967 Mercury Cougar, though it’s slimmer, less chunky.
Tumblr media
Features included hidden headlamps and windshield wipers, while an automated circuit locked the doors when the AMX II was moving. At the rear was was a safety tail lamp arrangement with green, yellow, and red segments for driving, slowing, and braking. However, it seems many of these features probably existed only on paper.
Like the other Project IV cars, the AMX was not a running vehicle, but merely a fiberglass studio glider with no drivetrain or running gear. There was no real interior, either, only a black sillhouette panel inside, just under the beltline, to fill the cabin volume. Like so many pushmobile show cars, the AMX II served no real function once its display career was concluded, so it was more than likely scrapped soon after.

Waltzing under the twinkling lights Part 2
Milady de Winter x Princess!Reader 🗡️
Part 1
Eva Green & Characters One shot Collection
⚠️ TW: cursing and smut
Tumblr media
╔⏤⏤⏤⏤╝❀╚⏤⏤⏤⏤╗
Third Person POV
╚⏤⏤⏤⏤╗❀╔⏤⏤⏤⏤╝
Once a clandestine romance, the love between Milady de Winter and Princess Y/N had deepened and strengthened over their secret rendezvous and stolen moments. They cherished each second they spent together, their entwined lives a respite from the treacherous world of court politics.
As the glittery night sky appeared, Milady and Princess Y/N were supposed to meet up in the garden, more specifically the spot where they had kissed one another for the very first time, in front of the fountain. How majestic that fountain is, made with the finest of materials only the richest of the rich can afford. The exterior of the fountain is crafted with pure white marble, gleaming in the sunlight and catching the eye of anyone who passes by. The intricate carvings on the marble are a testament to the skilled craftsmanship that went into its creation.
As Milady approaches the fountain, she can hear the gentle trickle of water cascading down the tiers, a soothing sound that adds to the fountain's grandeur. She can feel the cool mist that rises from the fountain, refreshing your skin on a hot summer's day.
The interior of the fountain is just as impressive as its exterior. The water flows through a series of intricate channels and spouts, each designed to maximize the beauty and elegance of the fountain. The water sparkles in the sunlight, reflecting the colors of the surrounding gardens and trees.
At the base of the fountain, though under the moonlight with not only its glowing beauty but with also the lantern that she holds with her hands. Milady can still see the schools of fish swimming gracefully in the crystal-clear water. The fish add a touch of life and movement to the fountain, making it seem like a living, breathing work of art.
As she stands there, waiting for her lover and taking in the beauty and majesty of the fountain, she can't help but feel a sense of awe and wonder. It's a testament to the boundless creativity and imagination of the human spirit, a reminder that even in our darkest moments, we can still create something beautiful and enduring.
╔⏤⏤⏤⏤╝❀╚⏤⏤⏤⏤╗
Milady's POV
╚⏤⏤⏤⏤╗❀╔⏤⏤⏤⏤╝
After standing in front of the fountain for a while now, I felt a presence behind me, I could feel piercing eyes staring at me, but I was not threatened. Not one bit, as I know who that stare belongs to. How it always sends shivers to me whenever I feel it.
Moving my head to the side but not quite looking at the person, I smiled as I felt her delicate hands snake around my waist.
"Bonne soirée mon amour. I have missed you deeply," I said to her highness. "Bonne soirée aussi mon amour. I'm sorry I didn't get to meet you sooner, my mother wanted me to assist her with some "royal" shit," "Language! Sweetheart how many times do I have to tell you that," I sternly said telling her highness off but I know she can hear the playful tone in my voice.
"I know my love but I can't help it, you know that. Plus don't blame me, I got that from my parents they cuss a lot, though not in front of audiences," she says while laughing a bit.
I chuckled " I know my love I'm only joking, but seriously I have missed you," I turned around as she carefully puts her hands around my neck, while mine snakes around her waist. Looking into each other's eyes, we leaned up closer to each other, meeting each other's lips half way.
Princess Y/N pulled away from the kiss and smiled up at me, her beautiful eyes sparkling. "I missed you too, my love. But we mustn't linger here too long, lest we get caught by the guards."
I smiled at Princess Y/N's words, my heart swelling with affection for my dearly beloved. I gently intertwined my hands with the princess's and began to walk towards the library, our footsteps falling in sync.
"You're right, my love," Milady replied softly, my voice filled with tenderness which I only use when I'm with her highness. "We must be cautious. It only takes a moment for everything to unravel, and I cannot bear the thought of losing you."
Princess Y/N leaned her head against my shoulders, finding comfort in my embrace. "I feel the same, my dearest. The world can be cruel, but when we're together, I find solace and strength in your love."
I pressed a gentle kiss to the top of the princess's head, cherishing the warmth of our connection. "We have faced countless challenges already, my love, and each time we have emerged stronger. I will do everything in my power to protect our love, even if it means facing danger head-on."
Princess Y/N looked up at me with a mix of admiration and concern in her eyes. "I know your bravery knows no bounds, but I worry for your safety. What if one day there is a threat that becomes more than we can handle?"
My grip tightened reassuringly around the princess's hand. "Fear not, my princess. I have honed my skills as a spy for years, and I will outsmart and outwit anyone who dares to stand in our way. But I also promise you this-we will face any danger together. I will never leave your side."
A sense of determination filled the air as we walked through the empty hallway of the castle. Being careful and being quiet so that we won't alert anyone. As we made our way, we kept up a conversation. The princess was telling me about a book that she has recently read. I can see the passion she has for reading with the way she described the characters, the plot, and even her favorite lines.
"I'm very neutral about it. I mean Solenne did have a point in saying that since what Azalea did was so rushed and wasn't thought out, but at least she could have approached it in a better way," she told me as I looked at her and contemplated what to say of the book.
"That's true, Solenne could have approached it better but if she didn't say that then there wouldn't be more drama happening just like most stories," "I mean that's true, that makes up for it I guess," she chuckled.
We continued walking hand in hand until we heard something. It's footsteps," Someone's here, I think it's the guards doing their rounds. We need to hide," Princess Y/N quickly pulled me to the nearest room and closed the door.
I released a sigh of relief when I looked around and found that there isn't anyone else in, I was almost sure we went into an occupied room.
"We still need to hide what if the guard comes in here. I'm sure we made some noise when we ran," "Quick the closet."
╔⏤⏤⏤⏤╝❀╚⏤⏤⏤⏤╗
Third Person POV
╚⏤⏤⏤⏤╗❀╔⏤⏤⏤⏤╝
Milady's hands are around the Princess's waist. Bodies pressed against the other, both breathing heavily from their adrenaline. The princess can feel Milady's breath on her neck and her chest on her back. The princess wouldn't admit it but if they were in other circumstances she would definitely be turned on.
"This is such an awful and common place to hide princess," "Well I'm sorry I didn't take us to the Bahamas of hiding places," the princess sarcastically replied with an eye roll.
"Don't roll your eyes at me princess or I will give you a reason for you to actually roll them." Princess Y/N let out a shaky breath at that imagining what Milady could do to her.
Not being able to take the sexual tension anymore, she looks over at Milady who is looking down at her. The princess reaches up and cups Milady's face with her hand. Milady turns her head and kisses the princess.
Their lips press together as their tongues dance around each other. Milady pulls away, "I want you so bad right now Y/N/N." The princess smiles, "Me too my love." She leans forward and kisses Milady again.
This time Milady doesn't pull away. They kiss for a few minutes before Milady breaks the kiss. Milady's face is flushed red. The princess looks into her eyes, "Are you okay?" Milady nods, "Yeah I'm fine."
"Good," they proceeded to snog each other until Milady pushed Y/N on the wall only for the said "wall" to be pushed open. Gasping both the princess and Milady forgot that they were in a closet.
╔⏤⏤⏤⏤╝❀╚⏤⏤⏤⏤╗
Princess Y/N's POV
╚⏤⏤⏤⏤╗❀╔⏤⏤⏤⏤╝
I can feel Milady's hands fiddle with my dress and unbutton it. I helped her pull it off. She took off her dress as well. I'm wearing a white lace bra and thong and she's wearing a plain black lace bra and thong. Milady removes hers also. 'Hod she's so beautiful,' I think to myself.
Milady pushes me to lay down on the bed and Milady lays down beside me since we were already out of the closet. She kisses my neck and gently bites my earlobe. I moan and run my hands through her hair. "Mmmm, Milady that feels so good," I moan.
Milady begins to kiss down my neck and my chest. She kisses the top of my breasts, teasing me. I almost feel like I'm going to explode. She makes her way to my breasts and begins to suck on my nipple. Milady is teasing me to the point of me losing control.
"Milady please," I groan
.
"Please what princess?" "Pleas-ahhh!" I moan loudly as Milady begins to suck harder and flick my nipple with her tongue. I'm on the brink of cumming so hard I don't know if I can handle it.
╔⏤⏤⏤⏤╝❀╚⏤⏤⏤⏤╗
Third Person's POV
╚⏤⏤⏤⏤╗❀╔⏤⏤⏤⏤╝
Milady switches sides with Y/N's other breast. Her left hand has glided down to Y/N's pussy, rubbing it at a decent speed. "Oh Milady!" Y/N moans out. Milady smirks at that.
Milady moves down to Y/N's thong. She runs her finger up and down Y/N's pussy before hooking her fingers in the underwear. Milady pulls the underwear down. "Ah Milady!" Y/N moans out in pleasure.
When the underwear is off, Milady gets on her knees between Y/N's legs and spreads them. She licks up the side of Y/N's pussy and when she reaches her clit she sucked hard while her middle finger enters Y/N's core.
Y/N's head fell back in the bed as two more digits entered her and as the pleasure Milady was giving her increases.
"Ah! Milady!" Y/N moans out and she arches her back.
Milady's tongue continues to fuck Y/N's pussy as her fingers pumps in and out of Y/N's pussy.
Y/N's breathing became uneven and her walls began to tighten around Milady's fingers. Milady begins to attack Y/N's clit even harder while using her other hand to toy with Y/N's nipple.
"OHHHH!" Y/N screams out as she squirts onto Milady.
"Holy shit," Milady whispers while looking up at Y/N. Her eyes look dazed and filled with lust. "That was amazing, Milady."
╔⏤⏤⏤⏤╝❀╚⏤⏤⏤⏤╗
Milady's POV
╚⏤⏤⏤⏤╗❀╔⏤⏤⏤⏤╝
I could feel Y/N's cum on my face but I could care less. Y/N's squirt is so addicting making me want to drink more.
"You're so sexy when you squirt princess," I say as I climb up Y/N's body, slowly kissing her.
Y/N grabs my head and kisses me back. Our tongues dance around each other once more. She swipes her tongue across my bottom lip and sucked my bottom lip into her mouth. I shiver at the sudden action she took.
I crawl on top of Y/N, but I don't move any further. We both stared at each other before Y/N wiggled her legs and wrapped them around my waist. I position myself right above her, my pussy above her pussy.
I grab one of her legs in my hand and set it on my shoulder. I bring my other hand to Y/N's face and rub her cheek. She looks at me with trust filled eyes. I slowly lower myself onto Y/N and I can feel my pussy get filled with the warmth of her pussy.
I begin to grind against Y/N, both of us are moaning at the amazing feeling. Y/N grabs both my breasts and begins to rub them. I can feel Y/N suck and lick my nipples. "Mmmm Milady fuck me please!" Y/N begs.
I begin to thrust into Y/N and I can feel her juices dripping down my thighs. I can also feel Y/N's juices drip onto my thigh. Both of us are so wet our sounds are loud against the quilt.
"Ah! Milady!" Y/N moans out. I can feel Y/N's walls tighten around my fingers. "Fuck!"
"Oh Y/N!" I moan out as I pull my fingers out and I come all over Y/N's stomach and chest. I collapse onto Y/N's and I kiss her. Y/N kisses back with so much passion.
"That was amazing, I never knew you
could have such a dirty mouth princess," Y/N said.
"I learned from the best," she says, her face a shade of red.
"Hmmm, well if you insist," I say with a smirk.
We burst out laughing as we lay there in sweaty, cum soaked sheets for a few minutes before I turned around to look at Y/N, "I love you princess."
"I love you too, Milady," she replies. I kiss her on the lips before getting up. I pull her out of the bed. "W-what are you doing?" Y/N asks.
"Come on, we have to get you cleaned up before one of your ladies in waiting and/or the guards notice your absence and send someone to come looking for you," I say as I grab her hand and carry her to the bathroom.

How the library changes based on the chapters in Slay the Professor:
Chapter 1: "The interior of the library is unassuming. The walls are lined with shelves that are full of old books, the floors are made of wood that creak gently underneath your feet, and you can imagine that it would have been a nice place before it was abandoned. The only real furniture of note is a librarian's desk sitting near the door to the basement, empty except for a single, pristine blade."
The Wizard: "The library has changed since you last saw it. The bookshelves are designed in a whimsical fashion, filled with spellbooks, magical wands, and small cauldrons. The floor is now carpeted and plush under your feet, with designs that bring to mind the changes of the phasing moon, and there is a skylight overhead that lets in the moonlight. The door to the basement has the same moon-phase design, and looks almost inviting. Even the desk is different, with a curved and delicate design... but the pristine blade is still the same."
The Warlock: "The library has changed since you last saw it. The bookshelves are seemingly made out of the roots of gnarled trees, and all of the books are bound in what looks like snakeskin. Packed dirt lies beneath your feet, and the floor is lined with roots that threaten to trip and snag. The door to the basement is no longer a door, but a series of vines intertwined in a thick, near impassable curtain. Even the desk is different, seemingly carved from an incredibly large tree root... but the pristine blade is still the same."
The Creation: "The library has changed since you last saw it. Cobwebs line the bookshelves, which are filled with books that look old to the point of disintegration. The floorboards appear in danger of collapsing under your feet if you take a false step, and you get the sensation that you are the first person to come here in a great number of years. The door to the basement, on the other hand, appears to be reinforced steel, meant to be keeping someone inside. Even the desk is different, the wood rotted from age and withered over time... but the pristine blade is still the same."
The Scientist: "The library has changed since you last saw it. Lights flicker overhead, illuminating shelves that contain lab equipment and jars full of animal remains alongside books that appear stitched---not out of leather or cloth, but out of skin. The floor is a cracked tile with stains of an unidentifiable nature, and... oh, god. The door to the basement has been blasted off its hinges, and the desk has been overturned, leaving the pristine blade lying on the floor."
The Academic: "The library has changed since you last saw it. The bookshelves now reach up twice as high, towering over you and making you feel incredibly small. The floor is covered in a rug with a design that resembles an eye, giving off the sensation of being watched. The door to the basement, like the bookshelves, has doubled in size, inscribed with lettering in languages you cannot understand. Even the desk is different, now circular and large enough that a stepstool is needed to reach it... but the pristine blade is still the same, perched on the very edge."
The Archivist: "The library has changed since you last saw it. The bookshelves are no longer bookshelves, but rows and rows of file cabinets, some open to display files inside. The floors are hardwood, yet much sturdier than the first time you came here, barely registering your footsteps. The door to the basement appears to be just a simple office door with an illegible nameplate. Even the desk is... well, not very different at all, just a little more clean than before. But the pristine blade is still the same.
The Doctor: "The library has changed since you last saw it. The bookshelves now resemble a series of large rolling carts, filled with old magazines and medical tools that appear to be stained with blood. The floor is linoleum and just as bloody as the tools, speaking wonders to the individual living here. Even the desk is different, resembling more of an examination table than anything else... but the pristine blade is still the same.
The Dragon: "The library has changed since you last saw it. The bookshelves are now made of carved rock, and contain treasure chests full of precious gems and metals alongside the gilded spines. Everything else in this place is made of stone, right down to the door---no longer a door, but a boulder to be rolled to the side. The desk is now just a slab of rock coming up from the floor... but the pristine blade is still the same."
The Inventor: "The library has changed since you last saw it. The bookshelves more closely resemble display shelves that you would see in a workshop, and there are odd little clockwork contraptions resting alongside the books. The floor is now made of industrial-like metal, causing the sound of your footsteps to be almost deafening. The door is surrounded by pipes and has a clockwork design on it, giving off the impression of a complicated mechanism. Even the desk is different, now just a worker's bench placed carelessly in the corner... but the pristine blade is still the same."
The Substitute: "The library has changed since you last saw it. It is a patchwork of so many different libraries, blended together in an ill-fitting design that seems on the verge of falling apart. The only thing that's clear---the only thing that makes sense---is the pristine blade, still sitting on the desk."

How I've missed you
Tumblr media
Wait for me.
He said, mounting his horse and tipping his hat goodbye.
I’ll be back.
He said as he rode towards sunset. Until he was nothing more than a speck in the distance.
You’ll wait for him, but the question is how long? A month? A year? A decade? D was, after all, immortal, absolute. The time for him flows differently for you. One human lifespan is nothing but a blink of an eye for him.
You’ve never stayed in one place this long. You’re a nomad, drifting from one corner of Frontier to another. It made your feet twitch, aching to be on the road once more. But you couldn’t. How else he’ll find you? If he’d even look for you. You shook your head to shake off that thought. You can’t let them slink their way into your heart. D would never abandon you, ha made a promise and he keeps his promises.
Your deprecating musing was interrupted when you reached the door from your caravan. You ran your fingers over the cracked paint before reaching for the doorknob. A small, but cozy interior of your lodgings greeted you. Old, patterned scarf pinned over one wall, a small tin stove, a bunk in the far end, candles, and colorful trinkets hanging everywhere. It wasn’t much but you loved this place. The wheels attached to your home gave you the feeling that you can leave wherever you can and whenever you want.
You settled a bag with a piece of bread and cheese you’d managed to purchase for that little coin you had. When you heard squeaking followed by scratching of small claws over the worn wooden floor. Slicing off a bit of cheese, you crooned at the small thing creeping its way toward you.
You found Lettie when They were digging through your garbage in the middle of the night. You started leaving them with leftovers. One day you came home and found them lying at the foot of your bed, waiting for you. You have a pet now, you guess… Even though you have no idea what Lettie is, or even its gender. Just another creation of genetic tinkering done by Nobles.
“He’s gonna love you, I’m sure.” You told the creature as you ran your fingers over the sleek fur. It doesn’t respond, of course, but no matter. Just like with D, you don’t always need him to add to your conversations. You can do all the talking by yourself.
Slipping your hands under Lettie’s belly, you lifted them and carried them to your bunk. You flopped onto the bed and held Lettie close to your chest, before lifting them above your head. The animal's glossy eyes stared dispassionately at you.
“Look at you, getting all mopey.” Your voice took a high-pitched quality to resemble Lettie’s squeaks and, as you enunciate the words, you bounce the creature as if it’s talking to you.
“What do you know! I’m allowed to miss him every once in a while!”
“What would D say if he knew you were so anxious for his return?”
“Hush, I know he comes back.” You settled Lettie back on your chest, the animal was finally allowed to rest.
After a beat of silence, you whispered, “He always came back.”
You were woken up by a loud banging on the caravan’s door. You slogged towards the door whilst trying to blink away the blurriness in your vision. A distressed face of one of the villagers greeted you. It was the old man Johnson, he owned a farm on the outskirts of the town.
“Thank Krist! I thought you were never gonna answer!” The man spitted at you, face ruddy and eyes bulging.
“It better be good Jonny.” You grumbled passively at him.
“Harpies!” The man choked out. “A whole swarm of them!! They’re tearing apart my stock. I was…ah…
The farmer didn’t get the chance to finish the sentence as you walked out of the door with a golden blade in your hand. Johnson stumbled after you, eyes trained on the blade. Where in the seven hell did gypsy like you get their hands on such a weapon?? It was engraved with strange symbols with the dragon's head at the base of the blade, blood-red ruby eyes piercing into him.
You arrived at the ranch at the exact moment when one harpy clutched a frightened sheep in its claws. Just as the night perpetrator lifts the poor animal into the sky, a soft swoosh of a blade sings through the air. The harpy falls down with a blood-curdling screech, which alerts other harpies. They leave the flock and train their beady eyes on you. With a steadying exhale, you readjust your stance and point the sword in their direction, the golden blade gleaming in the moonlight.
The harpies all dive onto you in unison. However, their talons only grab air as you propel yourself upwards, your upper body twisting clockwise to reach as far as possible with your sword. Some harpies dodge, others drop on grass like swatted flies. Johnson was so taken by the sight in front of him that he hadn’t realized he remained alone on the pasture. Nor did he notice a dark figure approaching him slowly but steadily, broad shoulders draped in a dark cloak casting a long shadow over him.
You were running out of stamina and you knew it. Your movements were slower, your senses grew more sluggish. You cried out in pain as one of Harpie’s talons dug into your shoulder whilst the other aimed for your neck. Luckily, you managed to lodge the blade between the two of you. A bead of sweat ran down your neck as you felt the strength leaving your arms, beasts maw moving closer and closer to you.
The beast has never learned your taste, for its head has been severed from its body before it could notice. Same for the other harpy, which finally made the imminent danger disappear, at least for today. You grunted as the sharp claws slipped out of the fresh wound and swayed on your legs dangerously. It took you several minutes of labored breathing and cursing before you registered the presence of another in front of you.
When you looked up, you almost fell down on your knees for good. There, illuminated by the moon, was D. Serene and unmoving as ever. Spine straight while his sword rested in his relaxed grip, still stained with harpies blood. You stared at him for a good minute or two, before wobbly walking towards him. That walk became, a somewhat sloppy run, and with the remaining strength, you propelled yourself forward and jumped into the hunter's arms. D simply extended his arms towards you, knowing better than to try and fight your theatrics. The impact from your bodies colliding made an ‘ooff’ puff out of your throat, but you haven’t released your clutch on him. After a moment of silence, you spent feverishly clutching onto him with fingers tangled in his hair, you untangle yourself from him far enough to be able to look at his face. You immediately took it into your hands and started examining the dhampir closely, making sure there wasn’t a single scratch on him.
Once you were satisfied with the results the dhampir was left open to your affections. You kissed his cheeks, his nose, his eyelids. Inch by inch you peppered his face with kisses while he held you hugged tightly to him. D’s lips twisted as he tried to fight a smile tugging at his mouth. He couldn’t fight the quiet giggle that slipped from them.
And the farmer could only stand there and gape in awe. Out of all the things he saw tonight, A dhampir being smothered with affection with the softest of smiles would be the most unbelievable of them all.

Came across this article and i am surprised i didn't know about these "dragon houses" ( δρακοσπιτα) and not only that they are high in the mountains but also they date really old , we are talking 5.000 B.C 😳
Yep that... phenomenon is very interesting and pretty unknown to many Greeks and tourists alike. But it's not that old, it's from around 500 BC according to most estimations, with a broad 1200 BC - 100 BC range of possibility.
The Dragon Houses are more than 20 ancient megalithic constructions that can be found in various peaks in the south of Euboea island. The buildings have a mild pyramid like shape on their roofs and they are built with giant slabs from the region that were somehow processed first, in a way that provided a lot of stability. Some interiors have details like shelves. They have neither foundations nor windows. Some of the stone slabs weigh almost 10 tons and they were processed to fit perfectly with each other so that no extra binder was used at all. Most of the dragon houses are built in significant altitudes given how ancient they are and especially the ones in the peaks of Mount Ohi (Όχη with an η) are remote enough that it is hard to imagine how they were built. Ohi is not huge (~1400m - 4600 ft) but it is a very rocky mountain with dangerous flimsy terrain and narrow trails between cliffs. The difficulty to explain the houses' creation led to folk lore, according to which dragons lived there and terrorized the populations of the mountains.
In 1959, archaeologist professor Moutsopoulos discovered pieces of ancient pottery up there as well as undeciphered scripts.

1811 – Ensign John Hepburn and drummer Thomas White are hanged for consensual sodomy by the English Navy before "a vast concourse of spectators" including nobles.

1855 – Count Robert de Montesquiou-Fezensac was a writer during France's Belle Epoque, but he is best remembered as a dandy and an aesthete, who inspired the literary creations of others.(d.1921) Born in Paris into a family that traced its nobility back to the early middle ages, Montesquiou boasted (quite truthfully) that he was "allied to the greater part of the European aristocracy."
Montesquiou was equally proud of his intellectual and literary achievements, which, at least in his own eyes, were considerable. He published eleven volumes of symbolist poetry, but contemporary critics found his verses overly "precious" and posterity has been no kinder. Montesquiou also wrote two novels, three volumes of memoirs, and a great deal of literary criticism.
He befriended, encouraged, and supported numerous artists: painters such as Gustave Moreau, Edgar Degas, and James McNeill Whistler; poets such as Paul Verlaine, Stéphane Mallarmé, and François Coppée; and prose writers such as Adam Villiers de l'Isle-Adam and Marcel Proust.
He crammed his home with so much artistic bric-à-brac that fellow aristocrat Boni de Castellane remarked that he showed "less taste than imagination." as an interior decorator.
Montesquiou was a well-known figure in Parisian high society. He entertained lavishly, although, as he confessed, "I preferred my receptions to my guests, who may have noticed. . . . I gave parties for selfish reasons, less to satisfy my guests than to please myself."
In sum, Montesquiou's contemporaries generally considered him a dandy, an aesthete, and a snob. They admired his stylishness, but found him pompous and even ridiculous; they flattered his ego because they feared his savage wit, but they mocked him behind his back.
Montesquiou's homosexual tendencies were patently obvious, but he may in fact have lived a chaste life. He had no affairs with women, although in 1876 he reportedly once slept with the great actress Sarah Bernhardt, after which he vomited for twenty-four hours. (She remained a great friend.)
He had aristocratic women friends, but much preferred the company of bright and attractive young men. In 1885, he began a close long-term relationship with Gabriel Yturri (1868-1905), a handsome South American immigrant who became his secretary, companion, and possibly lover. After Yturri died of diabetes, Henri Pinard replaced him as secretary in 1908 and eventually inherited Montesquiou's much reduced fortune.
Montesquiou inspired the peacock in Edmond Rostand's play Chantecler (1910), who pompously announces to the other barnyard animals: "I am pleased to represent that Good Taste of which I am . . . the guardian."
However, Montesquiou is most remembered as the principal model for Baron Palamède de Charlus in Marcel Proust's great novel, Remembrance of Things Past (1913-27, recently translated as In Search of Lost Time). All Paris recognized Montesquiou in Charlus's arrogance and insolence, mannerisms, and voice inflections.
Montesquiou pretended not to notice and even praised Proust's work for its realistic treatment of homosexuality, but he was in fact mortified, writing to a friend: "I have taken to bed, sick from the publication of three volumes that have distressed me."
Montesquiou died in Menton on the French Riviera on December 11, 1921. He was buried in Versailles next to the faithful Yturri.

1875 – One of France's most distinguished composers, Maurice Ravel (d.1937) was a prolific and versatile artist who worked in several musical genres, creating stage music (two operas and several ballets), orchestral music, vocal music, chamber music, and piano music. His unique musical language, employing harmonies that are at once ravishing and subtle, made him one of the most influential composers of the twentieth century.
Ravel's sexuality has been the subject of intense speculation. Although it is not certain that he was gay, he was rumored to be so. Fiercely protective of his privacy, his most significant emotional relationship seems to have been with his mother. At the same time, however, he embraced a public identity as a cultured dandy, a dapper man-about-town of refined taste and sensibility.
A life-long bachelor, Ravel had several significant relationships with men, including one with pianist Ricardo Viñes, a fellow dandy and bachelor, but it is not certain whether these friendships were sexual.
As a young man, Ravel joined a circle of avant-garde writers and composers called Les Apaches. This group included Viñes and the composers Manuel de Falla, Florent Schmitt, and Stravinsky. Several members of the circle, including Ravel, developed an interest in the new American form of music, jazz. Not surprisingly, jazz rhythms entered some of Ravel's compositions, such as his late Sonata for Violin and Piano, which includes a jazzy movement called "The Blues."
Ravel's most familiar work to contemporary audiences is the Boléro of 1928, which he considered something of a well-orchestrated joke because of its constant repetitions of the same melody. Commissioned by the dancer Ida Rubinstein for a ballet choreographed by Nijinsky, the Boléro is a bravura work built on a relentless rhythm that culminates in the wild abandon of Dionysian revels. It is certainly one of the most widely performed and recognized pieces of classical music.
Ravel's career and life can be divided into two parts, separated by World War I, which had a traumatic effect on him. Before the war, he was an important presence in French musical circles, often conducting his own works, giving piano concerts, and collaborating with Sergei Diaghilev on commissions for the Ballets Russes. After the war, however, the composer's physical and emotional health deteriorated. He retreated from Paris and spent the last decade of his life in semi-retirement.
In 1928, Ravel made a triumphant four-month tour of the United States, where he met many musical notables, including George Gershwin, whom he admired greatly.
In his final years, Ravel suffered a series of health problems and gradually lost the ability to communicate with others. He died in Paris on December 28, 1937 after a series of strokes and an unsuccessful brain operation.

1900 – The British/Grenadian jazz musician Leslie Hutchinson was born on this date (d. 1969). Known as "Hutch", he was one of the biggest cabaret stars in the world during the 1920s and 1930s. He was born on the Island of Grenada as Leslie Arthur Hutchinson, he took piano lessons as a child. He moved to New York City in his teens, originally to take a degree in medicine as he won a place due to his high aptitude, and began playing the piano and singing in bars. He then joined a black band led by Henry "Broadway" Jones, who often played for white millionaires such as the Vanderbilts, attracting the wrath of the Ku Klux Klan. In 1924 he left America for Paris, where he had a residency in Joe Zelli's club and became a friend and lover of Cole Porter. He was for some time the highest paid star in Britain and was one of the biggest stars during the twenties and thirties in the UK.
"Hutch" was believed to have had relationships with Ivor Novello, Merle Oberon, and actress Tallulah Bankhead. The rumors include affairs with Edwina Mountbatten and members of the British Royal Family which supposedly led to his social ostracism and the destruction of his professional career.
Encouraged by his lover Edwina Mountbatten, he came to England in 1927 to perform in a Rodgers and Hart musical, and soon became the darling of society and the population in general. "Hutch" was a favorite singer of the then Prince of Wales (later King Edward VIII). He was regularly heard on air with the BBC. One of his greatest hits was "These Foolish Things". He was a much-loved wartime entertainer. As well as being a friend and lover of Cole Porter, he recorded several of his songs, including "Begin the Beguine" and Porter's list song "Let's Do It (Let's Fall in Love)", to which he supposedly made up some 70 new verses. He later married and had a daughter. He would go on to sire six further children to five different mothers. Hutchinson died from pneumonia in 1969. Only 42 people attended his funeral.

1964 – Today's also the birthday of American writer Bret Easton Ellis. His books include: Less than Zero (1985), The Rules of Attraction (1987), American Psycho (1991), The Informers (1994), Glamorama (1999), and Lunar Park (2005) When asked an interview in 2002 whether or not he was gay, Ellis explained that he does not identify himself as gay or straight. He explained that he is comfortable to be thought of as gay, bisexual or heterosexual and that he enjoys playing with his persona, identifying variously as gay, straight and bi to different people over the years.
In a 1999 interview, the author puts forward that his reticence to definitively label his sexuality (in his own words, he is "very coy and weird about it") is for "artistic reasons", because "if people knew that I was straight, they'd read [my books] in a different way. If they knew I was gay, 'Psycho' would be read as a different book." In an interview with Robert F. Coleman, Bret refers to his as an "indeterminate sexuality", and said "any other interviewer out there will get a different answer and it just depends on the mood I am in".
Ellis has long acknowledged having had gay sex, but for most of his career he unequivocally claimed he was not gay. Then, in 2005, he began to discuss having had a six-year relationship with a man ten years his junior who died tragically young.
Ellis's fiction roughly mirrors his biography. His first four novels and one book of short stories are filled with sexually ambiguous characters. Then, in Lunar Park (2005), Ellis himself appears as a character, a middle-aged writer, who, just before the novel ends, begins a relationship with a younger man.
In a 2011 interview Ellis again states that his answers to questions about his sexuality have varied from interviewer to interviewer, citing an example where his reticence to refuse the label "bi" had him stuck with it and it was published that way. "I think the last time I slept with a woman was five or six years ago, so the bi thing can only be played out so long," he clarifies. "But I still use it, I still say it." In responding to Dan Savage's It Gets Better campaign, aimed at preventing suicide among LGBT youth, Ellis tweeted "Not to bum everyone out, but can we get a reality check here? It gets worse."

1974 – Darryl Stephens is an American actor. He is best known for playing Noah Nicholson on the television dramedy Noah's Arc.
Stephens was born in Pasadena, California. He grew up in the Altadena and Pasadena areas of Los Angeles, California. He attended the University of California, Berkeley where he studied sociology and ethnic studies along with drama and dance before earning a Bachelor's Degree in American Culture Studies. He performed for four years in San Francisco with the cult theater troupe Sassymouth before returning to Los Angeles to pursue a film and television career. He also worked with the Berkeley Black Theater Workshop.
Back in L.A., Stephens appeared on the sexy late-night serial MTV's Undressed, the short-lived series That's Life, and VH1's Red Eye. During the same period, he was also appearing in various commercials for products such as Dockers and performing in small theater venues and scene study classes. He also played in a Hollywood revival of the well-known play Bent.
Stephens had supporting roles in the films Seamless, Not Quite Right, and Circuit. However, his breakout role came in 2004, when independent filmmaker Patrik-Ian Polk cast him as the lead character for the new series Noah's Arc. The original intention was for the show to be released direct-to-DVD after it had received rave reviews at various film festivals. However, in the fall of 2005, LOGO picked up Noah's Arc, which debuted on October 19.
In August 2006 the second season of Noah's Arc was televised. By the end of 2006, Stephens had completed roles in the comedy Another Gay Movie and the drama Boy Culture, the latter alongside newcomer Derek Magyar.
In October 2008, a feature film version was released. Noah's Arc: Jumping the Broom picks up where the show's second season left off and tells the story of the marriage between Stephens' character and Jensen Atwood's.
In 2010, he guest starred in an episode of Private Practice, playing a pre-op transgendered character. His next film, scheduled for release in 2011, is Bolden!, a bio film about jazz great Buddy Bolden starring Anthony Mackie as Bolden. Stephen's role is of cornet player Frank Lewis.
Stephens released a self-published novel in 2011, entitled Shortcomings, which weaves together short stories he had written previously. He is also a singer songwriter.
Although Stephens is reluctant to discuss his personal life, he is openly gay and his roles address issues of classism and sexuality.

1985 –Guy Benson is a columnist, commentator, and political pundit. He is a contributor to Fox News, political editor of Townhall.com, and a conservative talk radio host.
Benson lived much of his early life overseas, then grew up in Ridgewood, New Jersey, where he attended middle school and Ridgewood High School. During high school, he was known for broadcasting sports on local television. While working toward his bachelor's degree at Northwestern University, Benson worked for the campus radio station, WNUR, broadcasting sporting events and hosting a political talk show. He also interned for two summers at Fox News, working primarily with Hannity & Colmes, before assisting the channel with its coverage of the 2004 Republican National Convention. Benson also reported for an NPR station in South Florida, broadcast summer baseball games in the Cape Cod Baseball League, and interned at the White House.
After graduating with honors from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University in 2007, Benson served as the producer of The Sandy Rios Show, then a local afternoon radio show with Christian Right commentator Sandy Rios on WYLL-AM in Chicago, before Rios moved to Washington D.C. in July 2010 to host Sandy Rios in the Morning on AFR TALK on American Family Radio. From to 2008 to 2015, Benson also hosted his own Sunday night radio program, The Guy Benson Show, on AM 560 WIND in Chicago and AM 1260 WWRC in Washington, D.C.
In 2010, Benson became political editor at Townhall.com, where his columns had been published since February 2008. Benson also contributes to Townhall's sister site, Hot Air. He previously wrote at Andrew Breitbart's "Big" sites and National Review Online's Media Blog. In addition to serving as a regular guest and substitute host on The Hugh Hewitt Show, Benson is a frequent guest on cable news networks, including Fox News and CNBC. In May 2015, together with coauthor Mary Katharine Ham, Benson published his first non-fiction book End of Discussion: How the Left's Outrage Industry Shuts Down Debate, Manipulates Voters, and Makes America Less Free (and Fun), a critique of political correctness in politics, media and culture from the point of view of two Millennial conservatives.
In April 2008 Benson discovered video from a 2007 reunion of the Weathermen, a radical left-wing group from the 1960s and 70s. The footage included quotes from two members, Bill Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn, defending their actions. Since Barack Obama was criticized during the 2008 presidential campaign for associating with Ayers and Dohrn, the clips made national news. Benson garnered national attention during the 2008 presidential race on two other occasions. In August, after the Obama campaign attacked WGN radio in Chicago for allowing Stanley Kurtz to appear on their station, Benson—who was in studio during the interview—detailed his experience. Then, two weeks before Election Day, Benson joined with Mary Katharine Ham and Ed Morrissey to pen "The Comprehensive Argument Against Barack Obama," released on Hot Air.
Benson's brother is actor, writer, and director James Benson. Guy Benson came out as gay in May 2015 by announcing in advance of publication that his new book, End of Discussion, would include a footnote: "Guy here. So, I'm gay." Benson told an interviewer that "gay rights is not something that dominates my attentions — or my passions." In September 2019, Benson married Adam Wise.
