Lots of buzz about the expansion announcement but can I just say, I really enjoyed the "Annotated Endwalker" panel with Ishikawa and Yoshida where they went over their writing process and how they maintain consistent thematic callbacks and culturally significant statements across languages. It's a fascinating look at how much work goes into serial fiction like this, especially when it has to cross multiple language barriers and still evoke the same feelings, all while making homages to literally decades old content.

I was HOOTING for the Amon/G'raha parallels, that's something I hadn't noticed before. Likewise with the twins, their grandfather Louisoix, and their father Fourchenault.

And of course, I was so happy that they finally talked about Zenos in Endwalker and practically grabbed the fandom by the head and said "actually pay attention to what he says and does and apply critical thinking for once PLEASE! The words are HIGHLIGHTED on a stream broadcast to MILLIONS. You have NO EXCUSE NOW!" *SHAKES YOU SPITTING AND HISSING*

phew anyway, I also liked the analysis of Emet's lines, and how they were written with the impression that not only was he narrating from the Aetherial Sea, but Venat is just there too.

But maaan I gotta call them out for referencing the shortstory with Azem's unilateral volcano mission to save the grapes and failing to mention that

Literally no one in the story believed that except Elidibus who is the young naïve one.

It's about Azem seeing value in the lives of those living in the shadow of the volcano while the rest of the Convocation did not. That's what makes them a hero in a world that doesn't even have a word for that yet.

Look I know the grapes are a meme and you're leaning in on it heavily but I guarantee you can tell us it's not about the grapes and we'll both appreciate that fact and still like the grapes! Your squapes merch sales won't slouch by just acknowledging that characters can say something without meaning it!

I just rewatched S1 bc Netflix, idk if im gonna go into S2 bc it aint on Netflix but i do have questions!!

- We figure out that only a descendant of Amneris can restore the Cup right? So, Nina.

- why was Sarah considered a Chosen One during S2? was she also a descendant?

- if she was a descendant, that means she and Nina are related which isn’t the wildest theory— makes a lot of sense actually. but, if she’s a descendant via her father, would that make KT a possible Chosen One as well?

- Rufus Zeno was considered the Osirian remember?

- then it was Eddie, but what exactly is the Osirian? (asking for a girl who hasn’t rewatch s2 in a minute)

- is it not related to your bloodline? because in the movie, Eddie lived while the Osirian part of him died. did it just pass from Rufus to Eddie when Rufus became unworthy or something? Or are Rufus and Eddie, and therefore Mr. Sweet possibly all related?

- off topic but never forget that Mr. Sweet and Jerome’s dad knew each other because they both attended Anubis House as teenagers. and they more than likely had Victor as a caretaker as well. isn’t that wild. imagine Jerome’s dad in Anubis House, happy and relieved to be out of prison, and then boom! there’s that creep-raven-obssesed-i-want-to-hear-a-pin-drop-bastard still looking the exact same age. must’ve been a nightmare.

Sarah was a Chosen One in season one as well! That's why Nina didn't start heavy hearing voices and talking to the house until after Sarah died :( Nina is the "true" Chosen One bc the thing they were being chosen for was to rebuild the Cup of Ankh and only Nina did that. It's implied that Nina will be the last Chosen One, meaning when she dies there won't be another one to take her place like she did with Sarah, because the goal has been achieved. Now there was some open-ended stuff with the Chosen One with the "not allowed to be around the Osirian" thing, so that might not be accurate.

From what I understand, to be a Chosen One you have to be a descendent of Amneris (meaning that Sarah and Nina are distantly related) and you have to be born on all the same number. Sarah was born on the first hour of the first day of the first month (1AM on January 1st) and Nina was born on the seventh hour of the seventh day of the seventh month (7am on July 7th). KT is also a descendant (I think? ig the Amneris could be from Sarah's mother but I feel like it was always implied that her father was the start) but can't be a chosen one because there can only be one at a time and that's Nina. I also don't remember if KT's birthday was ever stated. Also fun thought: this means Nina and Joy are also probably distantly related!

Not as much about the Osirian is known but I imagine it's in a similar vein. The job of the Osirian is to protect the Chosen One. Rufus was the Osirian during the generation that Sarah was the Chosen One (and failed his duty), and Eddie was the Osirian during the generation that Nina was the Chosen One. Similarly, Eddie's Osirian abilities didn't fully develop until Rufus was near death and then dead. It's implied that Mr. Sweet knew that Eddie was the next Osirian, which implies that it's also based on birthdate, but we don't know the details of that, or who the original Osirian was (by comparison Amneris being the original Chosen One). This also suggests Eddie and Mr. Sweet are related to Rufus. The movie was kinda wack but I think it was just that Eddie gave up his abilities as an Osirian and like Nina would be the last Chosen One, Eddie was the last Osirian so when he gave it up it just died instead of passing onto someone else for the next generation.

THATS SO FUNNY I have honestly never thought about Jeomes dad returning and seeing Victor exactly the same. It's even funnier if you think that bc it's never brought up he just saw Victor and was like. Nah I'm good. None of my business. 😭😭

Headcanons about the Main Four + Y/N (afab)

I just wanted to preface that this is just my Headcanons and all of this is for fun! If the characters seem ooc mind your buisness and let me live my delulu life. j/

Also for after having a convo with a friend of mine Y/N is gonna be specified at the top of post if their female, male or gender neutral presenting! Also I know Y/N is suppose to be a self insert but I lover writing personalities so heres some head canons that I have for her!

Kurapika

Always somehow smells like rain water and eucalyptus

Though he's tried to preserve as much of the traditions and customs of the kurta clan, he's slowly losing it as he goes deeper and deeper his attempt to avenge them.

Keeps a diary but is never consistent with it (sounds like his friendships)

Has the biggest rbf ever and no one is brave enough to point it out.

Absolutely despised fast food, would only eat it if it was the only option for him.

Has never kissed anyone on the lips in his life and most likely will never (sorry guys)

Has the best skin out of the whole group, he doesn't even do much its literally water and face wash

According to him his phone doesn't work, so he doesn't have Spotify to stream new artist (pls call your friend back). I do believe that he would listen to jazz and folk music.

Says he's above petty shit talking but once you get him going, he doesn't stop.

Up until he started wearing suits for his body guard job he use to hand sew his clothes.

Constantly forgets to get hair cuts and gets annoyed when his hair covers his face.

Hates modern art with a passion, all he sees are splotches of paint on a canvas with an overpriced tag attached to it.

I hate to say is girls, but he was not a feminist until Y/N beat the shit out of him for saying some bs analogy about locks and keys (if yk im sorry that yk). Would have definitly listened to one of those alpha male podcast. Kurapika almost broke his arm trying to hold Y/N back.

Has kissed one girl in his life, but it was BAD like real bad. He kept doing the kissy face (yk what I'm talking about) and gave the poor thing the ick.

Our sweet boy probably smells like salt water and wet forest

Has a wildlife analogy or story for every occasion

Killua has been trying to get him to change outfits, but he absolutely refuses to go into a department store after Aunt Mito lost him in one when he was younger.

Will eat absolutely anything edible.

Has a collection of stuffed animals from everywhere he and Killua have been.

He use to feed all the cats on the island. It gotten so bad that all the rodents on the island are nearly extinct because he's been keeping hundreds of felines alive.

The best swimmer out of everyone.

Does not have a specific type of music he likes but Killua got him to listen to the Weekend and they've bonded over that.

When he was younger he really wanted younger siblings because there weren't many kids on the island.

Has accidentally gotten high trying to eat a wild psychoactive plant on accident

Forgets he has a phone most of the time and when he texts back its mostly in emoji

AX 2023 Link Click highlights!! Honestly all the LC shenanigans made this con so fun. So here’s what went down!

Bilibili had an amazing booth complete with life-size standees and tons of cool photos/info. My cosplay group spent a solid 6 hours there over the weekend (we pretty much ended up working the booth, the staff said we were employees 😅). They had a bunch of merch to hand out so my collection has grown extensively. We were also interviewed several times for social media, the animation team, and the director himself! The staff did some videography of us too and took a bunch of polaroids (we kept some, others went to the director as well).

I got to stop by and see Zeno (Lu Guang’s English VA) which was a blast. He’s always a riot, so I was happy I could finally talk about Link Click with him!

How could I not talk about the premiere… seriously guys, you are NOT READY for season 2. The whole room was screaming the entire time. I lost my voice from how much I yelled. It was an absolute blast and so far the season looks AMAZING. I was glad we got to do a group pic at the end with the director, English cast, and all the cosplayers!

I also posed with the Lu Guang standee a lot… and in the end I didn’t even need to, because the staff LET ME TAKE HIM HOME. I nearly cried. I did spend nearly $300 mailing him because he wouldn’t fit in the car, but given how much merch I got for free, it was worth it.

So, now that 2B ended, I’m going to look back at my hopes for it that wrote back in september. There’s some comments on the points I added after FATCDP released also

We definetly got all these, and I’m so happy. I would have liked more CAmila and Vee but at least I know we’ll get them on S3

Eh kinda? Not much, though. I’m still wondering why Belos moved it to the head. Was it because the castle was being used for the DOU?

Yep, we got it. I like how even theories I wasn’t expecting to be true were done in a way that I accept them. Like that and some in Hollow Mind

To be honest i almost forgot there even was the debate about wheter Belos was Philip or the brother jsfddnjfnd, the reveal was great

- Glyph stuff

Not much but still quite a bit, which makes me happy. I wish it showed if Luz used the invisibility glyph when she branded Belos or changed it to hide just the glove

- “We’ll be keeping an eye on the owl house inhabitants” (I just want to know what he meant by that because doesnt seem like it for now)

Ok so I kinda understand it now. He did keep an eye on them, especially before EaE happened, it just wasn’t with Hunter. He probably just assigned him to look closely if the owlfam did anything suspicious or anything like that, rather than full on spying.

- Adress Luz’s mental health pls (we kinda got that in follies but again I would like more)

It got adressed! Still full of trauma and guilt though!

- Hunter redemption (or at least just getting out of that horrible situation)

I don’t like how I phrased that, but the point still stands. Honestly the way it happened I never thought would be how he would get out of the EC. Like, it feels like the plot of many fanfics I read during the hiatus about him being taken in by the owlfam. I say that in a good way, it was really good

- Hunter and glyphs

We got it!!!! Only one time but we got it!!! I wonder if we will get him using glyphs again. Definetly not while they’re stuck in the human realm

- Luz and King discover about Raine (we got it in the best way possible)

We got it in the best way possible indeed. AND THEM MEETING WAS ALL I EVER WANTED!!! And Luz having them promise to keep Eda safe :,3

- “No more secrets” my ass (this actually might be the one that i dont think will happen since on follies the secrets were adressed)

Guess who was wrong, there are definetly still some secrets there, now Hunter also being on that equation as well. And probably some things that will be kept hidden from Camila now, which will hurt. And Gus now most probably knows about the grimwalker and Wittebane deal, so these all will be adressed

- The “spy” thing with Hunter (what does this mean, Dana)

I still don’t know what she meant by that. Probably just a nickname to throw people off to what he would be/do?

- Rascal’s name (yep we got it sjfjhsfd)

And we got it said on the show!!!

So yeah, most of them did happen! I’m thinking of revisiting my predictions for each episode even though I already kinda did that with most of them on my reviews

Dragon Ball Super 096

I can’t believe it still isn’t time for the Tournament of Power to start.

So there’s only eight universes participating in the tournament.  The other four universes are exempt from the competition, so all we ever see of Universes 1, 5, 8, and 12 are their top gods and angels, since they get to watch the tournament.  I guess we might as well take a look at them, for all they matter.

First off, here’s Universe 1′s Iwan, Anato, and Awamo.

Then we have U5′s Ogma, Cukatail, and Arak. 

And U8′s Liquiir, Iru, and Korn.  These guys look like a bad bootleg verision of Beerus, Whis, and Shin.

And finally, we have Universe 12′s Martinu, Agu, and Giin. 

They’re all admiring the new ring, though some of the Destroyers question whether it’s sturdy enough to handle all the action that’s about to go down.  The Grand Minister invites them to have a sparring match on the stage to break it in, and three of the Destroyers decide to go for it.  Giin, however, sits this one out, as he already knows how it’ll turn out.

So they fight, and wreck the stage pretty well, and it turns out the Zenos weren’t even watching the action, so it was kind of a waste of time.  The Grand Minister than tells them to repair the stage before the Zenos wake up from their nap.  Whoops.

On Earth, no one is happy about Frieza being on the team, least of all Vegeta, but we’ve been over this already.  Whis wants them all to hold hands while they teleport to the tournament stage, and Vegeta balks at holding hands with Frieza, so Beerus puts himself in between to settle it. 

Of course we all know that Frieza really wanted to hold Yamcha’s hand, but he didn’t make the cut, sorry. 

As Bulma sees them off, she calls out some words of encouragement to them, which in the original Japanese version would turn out to be the last lines Hiromi Tsuru would record for the character before her untimely passing in 2017. 

Moving on.  Everyone checks out the stage and Goku tests the whole “no flying” thing.  It’s not really a rule, per se.  Somehow, the Grand Zenos have arranged it so that the fighters can’t use flying techniques while they’re on the stage.  Also, there’s some weird deal where every fighter experiences the gravitational force of the planet they were born on. So Goku and Vegeta must be experiencing ten times Earth’s gravity, while Gohan’s feeling the same gravity as Earth.  Some characters in this thing have wings, and they can fly, but only because they’re not using special techniques to do it. 

Frieza notices Frost and “Careless Whisper” begins to play in the Null Realm.

Goku tries to say hello to the other Universe 6 Saiyans, but Kale’s afraid of him, and Caulifla slaps his hand away.  “I’m gonna beat your ass, Goku,” she basically says to him.  Caulifla rules.

Goku tries to mingle with the U11 team, but they hate his guts on general principle.  In particular, Jiren wants nothing to do with him. 

We close out with a bunch of group shots of the eight teams, but honestly, I don’t want to get into that.  We’ll have plenty of time to talk about the teams once this thing gets underway. 

And phew!  We’re finally done with the third quarter of Dragon Ball Super.  The waiting is over.   Next episode, we’ll start the Tournament of Power, and finally get to the real meat and potatoes of this show.   No more bullshit, it’s time for the main event. 

Well, first I need to double back and cover the manga version of this pre-tournament stuff.  But that shouldn’t take too long...

THE FINAL BOSS IS BASED ON A FFVII SUMMON meanwhile Shinryu isn't in ffvii so of course stormblood isn't peak fiction stormblood is ONLY peak fiction if the WoL is olympia pallas if i were to rewrite the end of Stormblood with Olympia instead of Lyse I would make it so that when Zenos draws his blade on himself and prepares to kill himself Olympia all this time after this was like. OK Zenos you're an evil no good bad boy and I hate your guts for what you did to my country but violence begets violence and i'd rather see you being tried than perish by my sword just to satisfy my blind desire of vengence. And it's mostly because she understood Zenos' petty game and grew to not play into it anymore. She fights as Olympia but not as an Ala Mhigan. She sees Zenos about to kill himself and she realizes what's about to come and she fucking draws her sword and rushes to fucking KILL him. Because all her talk about Zenos being tried and all was just something she didn't like but she decided to go through it to be "normal about it" But upon realizing that Zenos will literally die and not even by her own hand Olympia's ala mhigan self fucking woke up and was like WAIT A MINUTE. YOU DIE BY MY SWORD YOU FUCKING DOG. But it's too late. He already killed himself. Olympia is so fucking pissed. Drops the sword and pummels the ground out of rage because it was HER catch. And i feel like everyone around her would be terrified seeing how ENRAGED Olympia is. And I think Olympia would go on a rant about how this was meant to her how it meant her LIFE for her and now she feels so fucking empty because she didn't get to do it and she'll never get closure and Raubahn looks down her and goes Olympia, I understand what you're going through. But you… We already got closure. Ala Mhigo is free. And that didn't even click to Olympia and upon walking on the Royal Menagerie to see the view on The Lochs While the anthem of Ala Mhigo plays I think that Olympia doesn't have the strength to stand or sing anymore. But is supported by idk. Raubahn. Other Ala Mhigans. Going like. We Did It. And she cries not because zenos is defeated not because the garleans no longer "own" her land not because she returned to her native country, the one she never knew but because Lyse doesn't fucking exist

I GOT SO PISSED OFF BY THE ENDING OF STORMBLOOD honestly you can ask me about any plot point of ffxiv i have my olympia version but you can be assured that in stormblood's case, it will be a fix-it version lyse doesn't exist in my version of FFXIV Yda still lives And has the ambition to make the fight for Ala Mhigo's freedom her life-or-death struggle Yda and Olympia were like… I think i would say they would be acquaintances. Yda and Olympia know each other naturally bc they're both Ala Mhigan Like they support each other naturally because as Ala Mhigan who never knew our Homelands Who Will? both Yda and Olympia were Ala Mhigan refugees who never got to grow up in Ala Mhigo. But while Olympia is like… Bitter about it but she is happy to be able to live a life as a knight in Ul'dah, Yda has such a ferocious desire to see her homeland liberated. and this would be a topic of clashes between the two girls. Olympia reproaches Yda to be too committed and Yda reproaches Olympia to not be committed enough. And as Shinryu becomes a threat and the events leading to Stormblood occur Yda is like decided to lead the Scions to Ala Mhigo, with the objective to liberate Ala Mhigo Olympia is terrified at the idea of riding (RIDING HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOME) home but Yda is like constantly trying to hype her up

Being cheerful about it and they truly bond over something. And Olympia slowly realizes what this all means to Yda. And Yda is finally getting through with Olympia, who has fought Gaius so she is the one who can liberate the homeland but you see Yda has the will to liberate Ala Mhigo, but no the strength Olympia has the strength to liberate Ala Mhigo, but not the will and it's something Yda keeps reprimanding to Olympia and i think it would be the last conversation they'd had before that one solo duty where you fight Zenos and he assblasts you and i'd imagine that in this fight, Yda fucking dies by Zenos' blade right in front of Olympia's very eyes cue a very emotional parting scene. and stormblood being basically about Olympia reflecting on Yda's "will", what "homeland" means, and how "revenge" fuels her this fight she dedicates it to Yda, a fellow scion but first and foremost an Ala Mhigan sister

More TOH thoughts and I'm wondering if Caleb/Wittebro left Philip behind (accidentally). Like in the same sense Luz did with Camila. He didn't mean to hurt him and leave him. But he found his happiness with Mrs.Clawthorne. 

because theres no teen pics of Philip and Brother. Theres child, then suddenly Older and then Belos years. And they found her while they were still young, like right after Philip got his mask. So I'm wondering if Philip was left in the dark, alone, afraid, maybe even harmed, he had no one to protect him. So he lied to protect himself. Imagine how much trouble **you** would have gotten for going out into the wild and don't come back with your brother in that time period. Jesus. Like. ???? I would honestly be just as pissed if my beloved older sibling figure who protected me and helped me suddenly left with a random person WITH NO SAY and then suddenly just? Comes back in your life? Because YOU found a way to ?

Like heres my guess. Brothers found Miss Clawthorne. Clawthorne has strong magic like Eda, and actually made portals for in between worlds but was still little and didn't know how to control it and later made the door Eda has now. Clawthorne took him with her because he was curious like Hunter is with glyphs and thats why Belos doesn't allow him to have *real magic*. Miss Clawthorne didn't know how to get them back but eventually promised him they would find a way. They didn't. Philip was hurt and betrayed and after years he found/made another door by maybe some stuff she left behind like Eda does. He finds The Boiling Isles and hopes to find Caleb. He does sometime before EWAEW, like say a couple of years. Or months. He finds Caleb and thats what the hug is. Its OH MY GOD BROTHER? And Philip just finally snapped because his brother didn't suffer. He was alive and happy and had a family without him and was moving on in life without him. He forgot about him, or so he thought. So he killed him. And Mrs. Clawthorne cursed him.

Like imagine u think ur brother is dead and having to grow up lying to protect urself and growing up without ur best friend and someone you love deeply and u cant grow up because hes not there to do ur plans together so u try to go find him in hopes that hey maybe hes alive but ur certain hes dead and u go to find him after months. Years. And...... hes fine. He has a family. And he never got back to you. And all you can do is be angry bc he got a happy life and u had to do everything alone.

Tldr: The Betrayal Of Blood Is Caleb being stuck on the Boiling Isles because His future Wife took him and Philip was left behind.

Side note: I 100% believe Gus is going to be the one to make him remember his brother and these memories, and make him relive them. I do think he will probably be forced to talk about it. But since Zeno says no one dies, I do wonder if Gus literally makes him relive it forever in his mind forever.

i don’t think she dwells a lot on it in front of other people or even really talks about it, but it all dents her head in a little bit.

privately pretty big-headed about it honestly, especially in the earlier days of msq...its not something she'll go out of her way to toot her own horn about, so she even considers herself 'modest' about it. to give her a crumb of credit, she will do stuff for people quietly and with zero fuss about her identity, and if they never figure it out at any point it doesnt much matter to her. shes contented with this like internal ego. if people hate her, they hate her - shes not that personally bothered by that unless it’s for a very specific reason that implicates her as having failed in some way. otherwise she doesn’t purport she could change their minds about it and just goes on.

18. What is something they would never tell anyone? (a memory, a wish, anything)

star is both pretty open in some aspects and very closed in others...she generally wont pretend to like you if she doesnt, and if she likes you shes pretty candid about that, even if she might not necessarily go into more intricate specifics about it. but things that feel deeply vulnerable to her about herself, like ‘im a little bit afraid of zenos’, ‘i dont think im actually strong enough to stop the end of the world’. 

20. When in the story was their highest point? When were they at their lowest?

i don't know if there was specifically a highest point - maybe in the lapses after victories where she could just savor victories with her friends, but she was quietly happy being around people she loved for the most part, happy in moments on her grand adventures, for all the roughness it all sometimes entailed. her lowest was probably the ramp up of the final days in endwalker or the period after hydaelyns death or, barring that, pre-shadowbringers when the scions all slipped into a sudden coma.

ok forewarning i may start rambling in this bc i have put a lot of thought into this guy and 90% isn't written down anywhere

ok came back to add a cut im so sorry for the unfiltered illness below im not going to edit it this is pure stream of consciousness

right so! for starters kiwei is for the most part very chill. a nice person, kind to children, helps old ladies cross the street etc etc. they also have so much goddamn grief and rage boiling inside begging for an outlet before they snap. (yes i do like the drk quest line how can you tell?)

they weren't always like that though, after the banquet and *especially* after haurchefaunt and ysayles deaths is really when this started building. see kiwei really gets stuck on the anger part of the stages of grief, and really doesn't start letting go until after they get compared to zenos. kiwei was really gunning to kill him after the massacre at the reach and hearing abt all the devastation he caused, and when zenos said "you want to rip my throat out huh buddy?" he was right. and that terrified and disgusted them. and getting called his friend? even worse

while all this turmoil was boiling within though, they really kept a vice grip on what did make them happy, namely their friends. alphinaud by that point was basically their little brother and alisaie was quickly joining the "honorary little sibling club", so they really tried to keep the mask from slipping to prevent those two from worrying. at this point they weren't all that close to the other scions actually, especially compared to how they become one big family by the end. anyway they also continued to be quite kind to strangers in an attempt to feel normal again, to try and find the joy of helping they got at the beginning of their travels. mixed results but hey they tried.

by shadowbringers the rage has died down a bit and mostly they're just tired. they feel like a living weapon and it doesn't help that many treat them like one too. when trying to sneak off to the tempest alone they genuinely didn't expect the scions to come with, given the inherent risk of standing next to a ticking time bomb. the events in the tempest are a huge turning point for kiweis emotional state. the kindness becomes less forced, friendships become deeper, and they (god forbid) occasionally express emotions to others outside of hitting things.

by endwalker theyre a lot calmer but that fear of doing harm just by the nature of being the warrior of light and being an impulsive person is really cranked up after the body snatching incident. and boy were they glad to finally kill zenos, he threatened their new family (and new happiness) for the last time.

basically, having this sort of impulse to hit people when they piss em off, the strength to kill gods, a deep desire to not hurt anyone, and the blood of hundreds on their hands makes for a contradictory sort of character

wow that became a stupid long discussion of their emotions let's talk design. kiwei is made of sharp lines and round curves. most of the spiky bits are "added" features let's say? sharp claws, scruffy hair, their facial tattoos, whatever weapon they have, and their little fang earrings. more basic features are round. their nose and face are round, and they prefer to wear soft fabrics instead of armor. there's a few outliers, scars in general to me are neither round nor sharp but that's up to personal views in design so i figured id mention it, and their little fangs bc kibby kat

even then there are softer sides to most spiky bits, their hair has braids (a tradition in their old family and honestly i will talk more abt that in a sec) and the claws also actually hold family meaning ok quick tangent

basically: the guy got disowned for "betraying the family by becoming an adventurer instead of the next matriarch". despite that, they still uphold a lot of family traditions. the braids are something their siblings did growing up, the bone carved jewelry is a family tradition (which im not talking abt here bc this is long enough im so sorry), and the sharp claws.

now: the timeline of claws works like this

ages 1-17ish: normal nails

(for women) ~17-before firstborn: allowed to grow out claws as a sign of being able to fight for oneself

after firstborn: cut those claws bc you might scratch ur baby

men do whatever you aren't there grow em out cut em who give a shit

so in the culture being an adult is signified by claws, but it's also a sign of immaturity. being an adult with nails means a position of authority and care over your family. it's sort of accepted that the mother's dont need to rely on claws to protect their kids.

how this applies to kiwei is up until shb kiwei had claws, but after some incidents where reaching out to touch someone (esp on the face) caused them to flinch they used their background in arcanima to help. they have painted sigils on their nails that project the image of claws without them actually being physical. by adjusting the flow of aether they can either become corporeal or disappear entirely. this occupies a weird space of maturity and immaturity, violence and comfort

a duality in other words

tldr: the cat is a little beast who is trying so hard to be kind despite the world seeming to be trying to make them a violent monster. kindness in the face of your own anger

It... makes sense to him, in a weird kind of way. As Azure Dragoons, you two are reflections of one another. Equal but opposite, as Nidhogg and Hraesvelgr. You are calm while he is quick to anger. Kind and gentle when he tends to be blunt and cruel. And even if you do experience the increase in libido that is usual of dragoons, your general disinterest... it makes sense, at least in Estinien’s mind. He neither grapples with it nor pushes you on the matter-- if you’ve no interest in... er. Helping him, trust that he is quite familiar with his right hand. Or his left.

He is the one who needs to step back and stew on it for a little bit. He is not going to lie, he came into this relationship with certain. Expectations. Which he understands are unfair to put on your shoulders, but nonetheless are difficult to let go of.

Ultimately, however, your love means far more to him than any plan for the future he ever could have had. You could probably get you both banished from Ishgard and Eorzea and he would still follow you, still love you-- comparatively, this is really rather trivial, and he is quick to adapt or abandon his expectations to keep you by his side.

The first thing he asks is if he’s ever made you uncomfortable about these things, and he apologizes if he has. He knows he can be... a bit much at times. His promiscuity is even a kind of inside joke around camp dragonhead.

Prepare for him to be a little overbearing for a little while, constantly checking your boundaries, making sure this or that is okay. He’ll settle down in a bit, but for now he just wants to make sure he’s not stepping over any lines.

Who's ready for me to painstakingly overanalyze an adorable scene that none of us SatoGou shippers thought we'd ever be fortunate enough to get (regardless of situation/context)? Of course you all are! 😄

Usually it's Goh that's curious about the behavior of Pokémon and wondering what's influencing that behavior, not Ash. He's not even really listening to Ash here. Then Ash changes the subject and assures Goh they're going to be fine once they get back to the lab, but Goh still doesn't seem interested in holding a conversation. Is holding Ash's hand so distracting that it's the only thing on Goh's mind at the moment? One might expect Goh to jump at the opportunity to talk about something, anything... to ease/deflect the awkwardness of having to hold hands with Ash in public, but he doesn't.

Instead, he draws attention to it (maybe he wanted to try and explain why his palm was getting sweaty 😉) when Ash asks him why he seemed bummed out. First, I like that regardless of what might be going through Goh's head at this moment, he wanted to avoid hurting Ash's feelings. He didn't want Ash to get the wrong idea and think he was sad/annoyed/disappointed (the definition of being "bummed out" according to online dictionaries) that the two were holding hands. He mentions he's a little embarrassed since they're holding hands, and this can be taken a couple of different ways. If you're someone that doesn't see anything beyond friendship between these two, then you would just chalk it up as Goh feeling self-conscious and uncomfortable, because that's generally how a straight guy would feel if he had to hold hands with another guy (even a good bud) or how kids at that age would typically react (especially a boy having to hold a girl's hand).

If you're someone that does see something much more between these two, then Goh being embarrassed holding Ash's hand is expected and natural. One of Goh's character traits (which, admittedly, the writers have sometimes been inconsistent with) is he doesn't have many friends and gets uncomfortable around strangers/social situations, and based on some of the flashbacks when he is around six or seven, it might be fair to say he's an introvert (staying in his room looking at computer screens/avoiding kids at school/not going to school). If he does have a secret crush on Ash, he's going to feel embarrassed when his fingers are intertwined with the boy that sets his heart aflutter. If real people in real relationships can feel embarrassment (for a a variety of reasons, as a quick Google search reveals) when holding hands in public, then it's reasonable to believe that Goh was embarrassed here because he's a shy boy that doesn't have a lot of experience making and maintaining friendships, let alone feelings that go beyond friendship.

The point is, Goh's embarrassment over Ash holding hands with him can be used both as an argument for and against journeyshipping. I don't think I have to say which side I fall on here. 😂

I've mainly talked about Goh up to this point, but what about Ash? Ash is... well, Ash. He is typically a lot harder to read because it's a running gag in the anime that he has no concept of love and everything that he does/how he reacts can simply be attributed to him being such a nice guy/great friend. Like here, one could argue that Ash is fine with holding Goh's hand because he wants to help his friend get back to the lab safely. His facial expression changes to worry when Goh sounds bummed out, but again, that could just be Ash being concerned that his friend sounds sad. To Ash, this is all perfectly normal and he would do the same for any of his male/female friends and rivals. Except for Paul. 😆 And possibly Trip...

Just as one could say it's just Ash being Ash when he gets distracted by an Alakazam putting on a show in a park and leads Goh in that direction rather than back to the lab. Some will say if Ash was really concerned with getting Goh back to the lab, he would focus on that, but at the same time you could also argue holding Goh's hand feels so natural to him and that he enjoys being out with and sharing things with Goh so much that he totally forgot about their present situation (he even says here "an Alakazam! Let's go see!" Uh... Ash? Goh can't see! 🤦‍♂️ Isn't that why the two of you are holding hands...? Or...?😏) . The two do practically everything together and spend almost the entirety of their days side by side, so would that really be such a stretch that Ash forgot about their predicament? That's the beauty of shipping; it all depends on how you look at things!

Lastly, credit once again to Zeno Robinson's portrayal of Goh! His line delivery here, especially that pause before the "holding hands" part is so perfect. Honestly, the dub's choice of BGM works pretty well as there was no BGM in the Japanese version, and between that and Robinson's tone and delivery, the potential undertones of this scene come across stronger in the dub.

As you might imagine, I'm very happy about that. 💗

Owl House/Amphibia Weekly Review: One of the Biggest Wham Episodes in Recent Memory and Some Frogs I Guess (Hollow Mind/Frogs in Tights/Fight or Flight)

Hello all you.. well saying happy is a stretch given what most of you reading this wer ejust witness too. And look Amphibia was decent this week and has a strong chance of dominating discussion the next three weeks as it comes to a close. It’s in it’s final four and like ducktales it thus gets a neat fantastic four flavored countdown

Thank you Jonathan Hickman. But while Owl House has overshadowed it before, something I talked about last week in detail, I hadn’t seen ANYTHING yet as this week is some cute breather eps.. next to one of THE biggest episodes in owl house history. We all knew it would be. The Huntlow server i’ve been apart of for two weeks now had a collective meltdown in terror of this one.. and some excitment but mostly fear for..

It did not disapoint. This is one of the shows best episodes, it’s most horrifying, it’s most captivating and tearjerking. It’s to the point that i’m skiping my usual talk of solicits for the month. Not that there’s much to tell honestly: the solicits for both shows are vauge, mostly talking about getting ready for the day of unity with labyrinth runners being the only one out of both shows to have a clearly definable premise other than “what stop the day of untiy and react to stuff from hollow mind and edge of the world we can’t talk about yet”, with the heavily hinted return of bria and the fucking emperor’s coven invading the school

So let’s get to the chase with HOLLOW MIND.. and some frogs I guess

                                                         Hollow Mind

Where to even begin? I’m serious this is an episode packed with huge reveals, utterly masterful bits of voice acting, and game changing bits of plot. Where exactly to START is hard to figure out... I mean do we talk about the OTHER golden guards, the masterful scene with Belos? Team RED? Hunter’s Breakdown and going off to live in the woods at the end? See this is why I often go play by play in episodes: it makes breaking them down easier as it gets to each point slowly.. but even then that dosen’t quite work here as SO MUCH happens! 

So i’m just going to go with my gut and start with the biggest reveal in the pile of big reveals: The Golden Guards have ALL been Grimmwalkers, each one resembling Belos not yet met big brother, and he’s killed EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM HIMSELF

Yeah... needless to say i didn’t see this one coming. Oh sure other people said this might be the case but I didn’t buy it: after all, we saw the ingredent sheet which involves two rare beasts and an even rarer stone, not to mention plaistrumm wood, something vital to belos staying alive, ah ah ah, staying alivvvveeeeee. Well .. it turns out I was missing the simplist most obvious explination, and in turn the most horrifying: these things are so rare.. because Belos has needed to make a LOT of Golden Guards. Every time one found out what he truly was or strayed from the horrifying path he set them on, he killed them. Again. and Again. And again. What’s 17 more years? He can always start again, make another kid.. and yes that scene was very much on my mind. As was this one which sums up to me just HOW horrifying Belos actions here are, even in comparison to his many MANY other attrocities we’ve seen.. and how little he feels about it. 

It dosen’t matter how many times he has to kill “Hunter” how many times he has to make him again and again, he’ll get the version he wants. And if not.. oh well it’s a pain to make a new one but it’s not like he hasn’t before. See Hutner finding out he was a grimwalker was going to be painful, we always knew this.. but hunter finding out he’s the 20th or 30th? and that EVERY OTHER ONE has died horribly? Oh and that everything Belos ever told him, probably even large stretches of his own memories are an outright lie? Yeah. We knew dana was going to break the poor kid, we always knew this was coming.. but we didn’t know how bad or just HOW deep this went. And Zeno’s acting, as his voice shakes and he desperately wants this to not be real is heartbreaking. As is Belos just.. casually tossing him aside

So that moves us to the next part of this scene, which is now my faviorite in the show and probably one of the best villian scenes i’ve seen in animation.. hell anywhere.I’m not exagerating. I’ve seen scenes from the best: Magneto, Vlad Masters, Chucky... the list goes on. But this is right up there: Matthe Rhys was already great any time he showed up as belos but god damn does he own every second of this scene.

And while the part with hunter is chilling and heartbreaking, watching as he throws the child away without a second thought or a hint of regret, the part with Luz is what TRULY makes this work. You can tell he’s been waiting for this in how he relishes revealing the truth to luz. He’s had to wait months since she arrived. We’ve all wondered why he didn’t attack her and the answer was simple: he had to make sure she met him first, had to make sure his future was secure, had to make sure everything was in place. @jess-the-vampire even wisely poitned out he probably sent Esadora to LIlith, since he knew she played a role too, to make SURE it happened. He’s spent decades waiting for this , to rub the truth in her face.. and he enjoys every second of it as he shows her his memory.. and the awful truth. He is phillip, any good in him she thought he had is long gone. He is a witch hunter.. and he is going to finish the job. Took longer than he wanted.. but he’s going to kill ALL OF THEM. We finally know what the day of unity is: the draining spell’s to awaken the collector and somehow.. .it’s going to kill every last witch and demon> Granted it’s clear it’s not going to go how bellos intends, deals with horrifying entities never do, but still, his INTENT is to kill every witch and demon as evidenced by his prototype for it leaving those poor witches alive in a horrifying coma. It’s not enough to drain them or bind them.. he has to KILL THEM. 

Sarah also deserves some credit as Luz’s breakdown is heartwrenching: She knew phillip wasn’t the preson she had in her head or even he put to paper.. but this.. this is so much worse. Finding out the only person like her in the whole world, or so she thinks, the only person to go through what she did... is a monster lacking any empathy who plans to kill millions and is happy about it, whose killed so many young men HIMSELF just for finding out what he really is... no wonder the poor kid breaks before composing herself. She is right.. Phillip is pure evil. And Phillips right “no use arguing with crazy”... it’s just obvious who the “crazy’ is to everyone but him. It’s just so fucking good I can’t stand it and it’ll stick with me the rest of my life guaranteed. 

Some more things to note as i’ve had time to think: even more horrifying.. is the fact that Phillip has been here for hundreds of years.... hell just the decades he spent before reuniting with his brother.. and in ALL THAT TIME he’s gained ZERO empathy for the people of the isles. Not one shred. See I can accept someone’s past shaping them into a bad person: Phillip was raised in a time where his belifies that wiches were evil and needed to be stamped out were normal. So him STARTING there is understandable. People raised with a prejudice can find it hard to shake it. 

But the thing that makes phillip such a monster.. is that he didn’t. He’s spent hundreds of years beliving he’s the hero of his story, that these are just “savages” who need to be culled, instead of innocent people who are just diffrent. He gained no empathy, never tried to care, just stuck to it like any hardcore racist would. And as we learned via the photos, and via friends thankfully putting them all in collages... Caleb, if that’s his name, DID change. He did grow, he met a wife, fell in love had children.. and because Phillip coudln’t, he killed them all. All of them. Innocent people HIS OWN BROTHER because he coudln’t let go of his beliefs. The show stumbled at first dealing with prejudice, with the whole conformatium thing being about a subtle as a frying pan to the face

But now instead it’s showing just how prejudice can poison a person, make them do awful things and how a person can hold steadfast to an inhernetly wrong systme of belifes no matter how long, no matter how much it hurts their family or other people: they have to want to change.. and Phillip wants to slaughter billions instead. And it looks like little can stop him at this point. 

So moving onto hunter.. yeah... I hope he went to willow or.. anywhere other than the woods because

Is in pain, has learned everything he knew was a lie and needs help. Get him a warm blanket willow damn you! ... just kidding I know you will my child. But yeah hunter himself shows the opposite: shows someone indocrinated, and as seen with his predecsors time adn time again... who breaks it again, and again. Hunter always WANTED to undrestand the isles wether it was his human basiss or his predecssors or him now... and tha’ts what seperates him from the montser that made him: the want to grow, to change, and to ultimately move pass the ideas that are holding him back. I hope he finds peace and willow smooches, he deserves it. 

So there was other stuff in this episode right? Oh yes Team RED was proven to be canon. Jess came up with that stands for  Rahne Eberwolf Darius

I’m kicking myself for not having thought of it first. I mean their might be more but for now they were great and Darius planning to flea.. only to help the minute he found out his baby boy was in danger, was great, as was Rahne being confused as the rest of us as to what hooty is. We also had Eda use the rest of the titan blood which...

I mean.... you have a whole glove. I get it needs a kick but like.. please tell me you didn’t use ALL of it when you didn’t have to. That’s the ONLY part of this ep that didn’t work for me: framing it as an all or nothing descision when as we’ve seen just ONE finger can power a portal, a powerful time pool dowsing rod, and god knows what else. If they used one THEN it didn’t work i’d understand but otherwise yeah, there was no reason for that. It’s still a risky proposition for sure, but as King poitned out “there’s no point in getting luz home if we can’t save her first”, so using one really shoudlv’e been a non issue. 

Otherwise.. this episode was a masterpiece. From start to finish it was expertly paced, chillingly tense (I didn’t even talk about th egiant mound of screaming palismen we thought was belos... speaking of which

and beauitfully acted. This is the series finest episode, and the kickoff to what’s bound to be a tense as hell ride to the finish. Amphibia starts it’s endgame next week but Owl House.. it started right here.. and we still have a quarter of a season to go....

So yeah like Owl House last week, Amphibia this week, on both shorts is lighter since next week...

So this week is more some fun side adventures with even MORE season 1 callbacks. Seriously Matt Braly has reached Eichiro Oda levels of making seemingly innocuous shit into a chekovs gun aimed straight at your heart.  And again while obviously Owl House not only steals the show but the whole theater this week, these are still good episode and I still absolutely loved this one. Though it helped they brought back one of my faviorite characters from season 1, one I’d HOPED would come back and sure enough here we are: Trinito, the Enigo Montoya inspired gentleman theif who taught our heroes to fight.. then tried to frame them for robbery. The loveable scamp. 

This one weirdly also has JUST anne and sprig.. which wouldn’t be an issue given their trying to just have the people from that ep, but it’s weird to omit polly. And her not being in focus in general is VERY weird to me as not only did her quest to get him a new body on earth NEVER go anywhere (She’d got as far as “racing car” before they ahd to go) but now their on amphibia, where andrias has whole bases full of stuff she could use to fix him and their killing robots on the reg giving her plenty of parts, it never comes up. Even though having their own robot soldier would be VERY useful to the rebellion and something they’d priortize and they have blacksmithing tools, so Polly could likely improvise given how much she learned about robotics. It’s just weird to have this obvious plot point completely ignored every episode. 

Anyways the ep is good though as it explains WHY Trinito has no loyalty to anyone or anything as well as giving him a loveable band of robin hood style rogues he’s clearly gotten fond of. As for the why he was abandoned as a child, and every crew he ran with stabbed him in the back so eventaully he just started betraying peopl ebefore they could betray him and fully plans to abandon his new crew till anne guilts him out of it, pointing out THEY haven’t betrayed him and as much as he’s loath to admit it.. he does care about them. It’s also clever showing some amphibains signed up with andrias (which isn’t a huge shock, he’s scary and some people will gladly sign on with the opresssoers if it means they’ll stop beating them with sticks...

And some fun robin hood inspired minons.. also Marcy CLEARLY showed him disney’s robin hood right? I mean she strikes me like she’d have it on her phone along with as many anime as god gave her storage for, and I don’t see how else Andrias would’ve come up with this. Unless there’s a robin hood on this planet which given they ahve a stan and a soos.. possibly. Point is I have a lot of questions about this one and most of them are rediculous. 

Overall this was a fun, swashbuckling ep bringing back an old faviorite. Not a ton to go into, but still good and still a nice pallete clenser after

So good stuff. 

                                                    Fight or Flight

So yeah everyone thought this was going to be about marcy and I perosnally thought it’d be someone we know like the lady who helped anne charge the box or Oliva and Yunan, or a false flag operation with marcy. Instead of ALL the characters who anne needs to rescue.. it’s Domino 2

Granted The Domino 2 ep is an early faviorite and highly memorable, so bringing them back isn’t a HUGE swerve.. but it is still pretty weird this close to the end of all things... though to matt’s credit he justified it in a way I didn’t see coming. Trinito came back because he’s a skilled fighter, can train people and is a great strategists, so while it HAD been a while his was more obvious. But Domino 2 makes just as much sense as, after Anne convinces sprigg to reluctantly help her (and sprigg reluctantly convinces everyone else to catsit for her PRECIOUS PRECOIUS BABIES), not only is she proven right her cat-moth-sprigg-eater remembered her, but it’s the ALPHA giving them air calvary.  Some use pegasai, our boys, girls and others got fucking MOTHS son. 

The episode overall is mostly a bit of fun as Sprig isn’t into this and nearly gets eaten a bunch, everyone falls for baby kitties and it ends exactly the way you’d expect

And it still provides valuable setup for the finale. All in all a fun episode. Not much to say honestly, but it’s still a brilliant call back and a nice bit of fun before shit gets real. 

Next Week: Shit gets real as our heroes prepare for war and the final arc begins! Meanwhile in owl house shit has already gotten real and gets realer. This week was hunter’s turn to break, next weak King falls apart as we finally find out what his deal is.

I loved and I loved and I lost you

My head was pounding as I opened my eyes. I put a hand to my head as I sat up in the bed. “Oh good you’re awake I was afraid that I used a little too much toxin.” A voice said. I quickly looked over to where the voice came from and I saw Illumi. “Why did you do this?” I asked. “I just want you to prove that you are safe and alive to our families then after that I promise I will take you back.” Illumi said. “Sure. Sure you will. I know you don’t plan on taking me back.” I said. “No I promise that I will take you back.” Illumi said. I opened my mouth to say something but I suddenly felt sick. I jumped up from Illumi’s bed and ran to the bathroom.

I rushed to the toilet kneeling on the ground and started to throw up. I went to hold my hair but Illumi grabbed ahold of my hair went one hand and rubbed his other up and down my back. “You’ve never reacted like this to any toxin before.” Illumi said. “I don’t think it’s the toxin. I need to get back.” I said as I reached up and flushed the toilet. “No just stay here. I’ll get a doctor to come and check you out first.” Illumi said. “No I’m fine. Besides I think I know what’s wrong.” I said as I got up from the ground going over the sink grabbing the mouthwash.

Once I walked out of the bathroom Kikyo and my mother rushed in. My mom rushed over to me putting her hands on my face. “Oh thank god you’re okay. Do you know how worried you have made all us for the past three years?” My mom said. “I told you that Illumi would find her and bring her back home. You did great son.” Kikyo said. “Well I’m sorry that I’ve worried everyone but I have to get back I have a life now.” I said as tried to walk past them but my mom grabbed my arm yanking me back. “Where you do you think you’re going young lady. You are not going back to wherever in the hell that you’ve been.” My mom said. “I just can’t do that mom.” I said. “Why the hell not?” My mom asked. I was afraid to answer. I knew if I told them that they would go and kill Chrollo. “Well?” My mom asked. “I’m married and I think I’m pregnant.” I said. “What in the hell were you thinking!” Kikyo yelled. “Who is it?” My mom yelled. “If I tell you his name you’ll kill him.” I said. “That’s more than he deserve for you ruining everything.” My mom said. “How did I ruin everything?” I asked. “Because of you you’re older sister couldn’t marry Illumi like we had planned for years and we couldn’t marry you off to the other family we had planned to.” My mom said. “I couldn’t help who I love.” I said. “Do you honestly thing like love exist in our families.” My mom said. “It may not exist to you or anyone else in our families but I love my husband and he loves me.” I said. “Tell me his name right now!” My mom yelled. “No.” I said. “Illumi do you know?” Kikyo asked. “Yes. He hired me to do a job a few months back.” Illumi said. “Illumi please don’t.” I said. “And he knew where she was for months?” My mom asked. “Actually she’s been with him ever since she left.” Illumi said. “Illumi.” I said. “What’s his name?” Kikyo asked. “Chrollo Lucilfer the leader of the phantom troupe.” Illumi said. “The phantom troupe. No you are not allow to return to that man do you understand me.” My mom said. “What no. I’m not a little kid anymore you can’t tell me what to do.” I said. “You can and you will young lady. If you don’t I’ll make sure that not only him but everyone in that little troupe will die by morning do I make myself clear.” My mom said. I nodded my head as tears filled my eyes. “Yes ma’ma I won’t go back to him.” I said. “Come on now Kikyo we have a wedding to plan.” My mom said. Kikyo nodded and they walked out of Illumis’s room.

“Why did you have to do this? I told you to leave me alone.” I said. “I am sorry if I knew that this is what would have happened I won’t have brought you back.” Illumi said. I laughed a little. “Sure. Sure you did. Why did you tell them you saw me? I was happy.” I said. Illumi put a hand on my cheek but I slapped his hand away. “Why did they mean by a wedding?” I asked even though I already the answer. “Our parents made an agreement if I found you and brought you back that we could get married.” Illumi said. “Of course. I need some air I’m sorry.” I said walking away. I walked out of the mansion and outside.

I started to walk around the grounds. It was long before I could hear someone following me. I knew who was following me. A small smile came to my face. “Come on out mike.” I said. Mike came out from the trees and made his way over to me. He started to nudge me with his head. “Easy boy. I know I missed you too.” I said as I started to pet him. Mike put his nose to my stomach and started to stiff my stomach. “Don’t be rough I might be pregnant boy.” I said. “He could probably sense it. Animals can sense that kind of thing.” Illumi said as he walked over to me. “I wanted to be alone.” I said. “I understand but if I don’t come and find you something else could happened.” Illumi said. “What if I am pregnant?” I asked. “I’ll say it’s mine.” Illumi said. “Right do you honestly think my mom or yours would believe that? The baby would come earlier than they would expect.” I said. “The child would look similar to me so they wouldn’t question it much.” Illumi said. “Why would you do this for me?” I asked. “Because I took you from the man that you really loved. You love him more than you ever loved me.” Illumi said. “Illumi.” I said. “No it’s okay. I didn’t fight for you when it mattered and I just thought it would have been best to just forget about us. But when you actually did it I guess you could say I couldn’t do the same. Did you know I became a hunter?” Illumi said. “No I didn’t. When did that happen?” I asked. “A little over six months ago. I did it to make the job that Chrollo hired me for to make it easier and because Killua was doing it as well after he ran away.” Illumi said. “Wait he did what? He didn’t mention that when I saw him. What happened?” I said. “He stabbed mother and Milluki.” Illumi said. “Oh wow.” I said. “I also became a hunter to find you. So I guess it kind of worked.” Illumi said. Mike nudged my face with his nose. I started to laugh a little. “Okay boy I distracted you long enough. Go on. I’ll be around.” I said. Mike nudged me one more time then left. “You know I think that he missed you the most.” Illumi said. “I missed him a lot too. Come on we should get back inside.” I said holding out my hand. Illumi just look down at my hand in confusion. “We are supposed to act like we like each other again right?” I asked. “You are right. You should take off your rings.” Illumi said. I nodded and took of my rings putting them in my pocket then grabbed Illumi’s hand then we made our way back to the mansion.

We walked back into the mansion where both of our moms were waiting. “Where were you two?” My mom asked. “We took a walk to catch up.” Illumi said. “I see you took care of those god awful rings that the spider gave her.” Kikyo said. “She won’t see them again.” Illumi said. “Good those rings were ugly. Now I’m sure the rings you will give her will more beautiful than he gave her.” My mom said. “How’s the wedding planning going?” I asked. “You’ll be marrying by the end of the week. We just need to finish some little details. We had this planned for almost three years.” My mom said. I forced a smile. “That’s amazing. I would love to see the dress.” I said. “We are actually picking up the dress tomorrow.” Kikyo said. “I would love to come with to go and pick it up.” I said. “Oh no that would ruin the surprise. Illumi didn’t you say you wanted to wait till you found her to get the ring right.” My mom said. “Yes that is correct.” Illumi said. “You can go with Illumi.”My mom said. “Yes Ma’ma.” I said. “Come on its dinner time.” Kikyo said. “Well I really need to get home. I’m so happy that you’re back where you belong.” My mom said kissing the side of my head. “I know.” I said. “Thank you for bringing her home Illumi.” My mom said. Illumi nodded then my mom left.

We follow Kikyo to the dining room. Diner had to be the most awkward ever. Of course Zeno and Silva was furious when they found out that I was with Chrollo and that they never knew. After dinner Illumi and I went back to his room. I went over and sat down on his bed. Illumi came over and sat down beside me. I wanted to go back to Chrollo but I couldn’t. “Do you think he’s looking for me?” I asked. “Yes.” Illumi said. “Well we need to make him not come after me.” I said. “How do you want to that?” Illumi said. “Since he hired you to do a job right. I’m sure that you still have his number correct.” I said. “You are correct” Illumi said. “Call him and let me talk to him. I’m the only one that would make him not come after me.” I said. “You don’t have to do that.” Illumi said. “I have to. Please give me your phone.” I said holding out my hand. Illumi handed me his phone. I unlocked it to already see missed calls from Chrollo. I called him back putting his phone to my ear and waited on him to answer.

“I swear Zoldyck if you hurt her.” Chrollo said. “Chrollo.” I said. “Y/n are you hurt? Where are you?” Chrollo asked. “I’m fine I can’t tell you where I am. I’m not coming back either.” I said. “What are you talking about?” Chrollo asked. “I can’t tell you. Did you honestly think that we would last.” I said. “I love you.” Chrollo said. “Stop.” I said. “No I love you. I know that something happened. Zoldyck must have done something to make you say all of this.” Chrollo said. “No. No one has done anything.” I said. “I love you.” Chrollo said. “Stop saying that. You don’t. You don’t love me. You never did. Illumi has always loves me and always will.” I said. “I will get you back. Once I can use Nen again I’ll get you back.” Chrollo said. “Goodbye Chrollo.” I said and hung up. I handed Illumi back his phone. “Do you think he and troupe will come for you?” illumi asked. “No he’s not with the troupe and can’t be.” I said. “What happened?” Illumi asked. “That blonde boy that Killua and Gon are friends with he stabbed Chrollo in the heart with a judgement blade. He can’t use Nen or talk to any troupe member if he does he will die.” I said. “But you’re a troupe member.” Illumi said. “Not an official one. The blonde boy must have felt sorry for me because he allowed me to stay with Chrollo.” I said. “So that’s why you wanted to make sure he doesn’t come after you.” Illumi said. “I’m not worth starting a war.” I said. “Yes you are. You didn’t tell him.” Illumi said. “I’m not sure if I’m even pregnant.” I said. “How long have you been throwing up in the morning?” Illumi asked. “Two weeks.” I said putting my head on his shoulder.

Illumi and I didn’t talk much the rest of the night. The next morning we had went to go get the ring like we said we were. The ring was beautiful there was no doubt about it. But I knew nothing would be able to beat the ring that Chrollo gave to me. I knew it and Illumi knew it. But this would make our moms happy. If this was three years ago I would have been happy that I was marrying Illumi. But that was then and this is now.

Just like our moms said Illumi and I were married at the end of the week. I told my mom that Chrollo would never come after me and she actually believed it. Silva and Zeno I’m not so sure that they believed it. I’ve still thrown up every morning. Illumi promised me that he will be by my side the whole time. That’s when we also decided to tell them about my morning sickness. They all seemed happy and called a doctor. The doctor came and went telling us that he would come back before the day was over with the results. I was in mine and Illumi’s room sitting on the bed a nervous wreck. Illumi wasn’t here because he left not long after the doctor left to do a job but he promised to finish the job as soon as he could to get back.

At the end of the day the doctor called me back finally confirming that I was pregnant. I thought that I would have been happy to hear that I was pregnant but I wasn’t I was sad. I sent a text to Illumi to let him know. I put my phone down on the bed and left the room to go tell our moms. Of course they were happy to hear that there was going to be future assassins. Then they went off to probably start planning for the baby. I went back to Illumi’s and I room going to lie down in bed. I didn’t feel like getting under the covers. I brought an extra pillow close to me. I buried my face in the pillow as I started to cry and cried myself.

I could feel someone stroking my hair. I pushed my face more into the pillow. I felt a cold hand on my stomach when startled me awake. I saw Illumi sitting next to me. “You scared me.” I said sitting up. “I’m guessing they brought it.” Illumi said. “Yeah they did. I wouldn’t be surprise if the baby’s room is already done.” I said. “It is already done.” Illumi said. “I guess I’ve been asleep for a while then. What time is?” I asked. “It’s about seven in the morning.” Illumi said. I nodded as I got up from bed grabbing some clothes and went to take a shower.

Five months later

I now have a very noticeable baby bump. I’m five almost six months along. I haven’t heard from Chrollo since the day I told him not to come after me. At first I hoped that he wouldn’t listen to me and come to take me back. But as time went on and he didn’t I accepted that I was here and that I have to be with someone that I didn���t love. I was sitting in bed with my back against the headboard rubbing my stomach. Illumi was on a job that would take a few days but he had finished it and was on his way back. “Hey little one it’s mom. I wish that you could have met you father but I guess that you will never be able to. It’s all my fault I couldn’t run from my past and because of that you won’t know him. I’m not sure that Illumi will love or care about you. He keeps saying that he will but I just don’t fully believe him. I really hope that dad would come to fight for me because he knew how destroyed me when Illumi didn’t do the same. But he had to do the same.” I said as tears filled my eyes. Then I started to feel the baby kick for the first time. “Oh little one you don’t know how happy you made me.” I said. The baby started to kick more as I heard the door open.

I looked towards to the door and saw Illumi. “Are you alright?” Illumi asked. “Come here.” I said as I motioned my hand to him. Illumi walked over and sat down on the bed beside me. I grabbed his hand and put it on my stomach. “Can you do that again for mom little one?” I asked. The baby started to kick again. Illumi had a small smile on his face. “This is the first time I felt the little one kick.” I said. “They seem to really be reacting to your voice.” Illumi said taking his hand off my stomach. When I looked at Illumi I could feel my heart start to flutter like it used to. No. No no. No I. No I can’t start to have feeling for Illumi again. I love Chrollo and he loves me. He’s just waiting to get his Nen back then he would come to get me. But I couldn’t help but wonder if he already had his nen back and just never came for me. He had to find someone else. That had to be the reason. He hasn’t come and he never will. My feeling for Illumi slowly started to come back. I put my hand on top of his. I gave him a small smile. I wrapped my other arm around his neck. Then I pulled him to me and kissed him.

Illumi wrapped an arm around me pulling me closer to him. I took off the hand that was on top of his and also wrapped it around his neck. Then the baby started to kick which made me pull away giggling. “I guess that the little one tell us to stop.” I said. “I guess so. Should I ask what brought this on?” Illumi said. “Just felt like it. Lay down with me please.” I said lying down in bed. Illumi nodded and lay down beside me. I cuddle up to him putting my head on his chest. “Have you eaten anything today?” Illumi asked. “I’m pregnant Illumi I’m always eating.” I said. “Have you been okay?” Illumi asked. “I’ve been a bit more tired than usual. Can I ask you something?” I said looking up to him. “What is it?” Illumi asked. “Have you seen Chrollo at all?” I asked. “No I haven’t.” Illumi said. “Oh okay.” I said burying my head in his chest. “If you want I could try to find him.” Illumi said. “No it’s okay. I’m okay here. I’m okay here with you.” I said.

Three months later

It’s could be any day now that I could give birth. Illumi told me to stay in bed until I give birth. I was the only one in the mansion besides the butlers. Everyone was away of different missions. I was just hoping not to go into labor until they got back. I heard a knock at the door as the baby started to kick. I got up from the bed and went to open the door. As soon as I got up I felt a pain in my stomach. I double over in pain as I grabbed my stomach. “No. No. No little one. Illumi’s not home.” I said as there was more knocking at the door. I groaned out in pain as I sat down on the bed. “Come in.” I said. The door opened and Chrollo walked in. “What are you doing.” I said as I felt around wave of pain. Chrollo rushed over to my side putting his hand on my knee. “Are you okay?” Chrollo asked. “I think I’m going into labor.” I said. “He got you pregnant.” Chrollo said. I rolled my eyes. “No he didn’t.” I said as I winced again. “Why didn’t you tell me? You should have told me.” Chrollo said. “You can’t use nen. If you tried to fight any of the Zoldyck you will die.” I said. “Couldn’t. I couldn’t use Nen. But the troupe fixed me.” Chrollo said. “They did?” I asked. “Yes they did. Come on let’s go everyone misses you.” Chrollo said as he stood up a bit leaning in to kiss me. But I turned away from him. “You can’t do that.” I said. “Did Zoldyck do anything to you?” Chrollo said putting a hand on my cheek. I slowly took it off. “I had to marry Illumi. My parents promised that if Illumi ever brought me back then we could get married.” I said. “Did you tell them that you were already married?” Chrollo asked. “They didn’t care. They forged our divorced papers.” I said. The pain started to get worst making me start to cry. “Can you walk?” Chrollo asked. I shook my head. “It’s okay I’ll carry you.” Chrollo said. “No just leave.” I said. “No I’m not leaving you in this house.” Chrollo said. “If you take me the Zoldyck will know who took me and will come to look for you.” I said. “I don’t care. I can protect you and our child now.” Chrollo said. “It’s that I don’t.” I said but stop when another wave of pain causing me to scream in pain. Then someone burst through the door. Chrollo quickly scooped me up into his arms holding me close to him. I saw Kikyo and Kalluto. This was not going to end well.
