ships and danganronpa for me is very interesting bc I have a comparatively small handful of them that I would consider myself actively a fan & actively a shipper of and exist pretty neutral to the rest
but that small handful has the ability to absolutely destroy me in a way no other ship or franchise can

Hc that different types of elves are able to use magic in different ways/to different levels.
I will be focusing more on the avari and silvan elves as i am known to do:
Magic, in this sense, is more like the life force that flows through everything and everyone. Elves generate an extra amount of it which, they then can use through pathways in their body. Humans and dwarves, etc, are rarely able to use magic to an effective result bc they don’t generate as much as elves and aren’t built with the pathways to access it, though dwarves can occasionally channel the magic around them into the objects they create.
Silvans actually have a surprisingly high level of magic usage, even more than their valinorian counterparts, though most of it is passive. A surprising amount of people will hear “silvans can communicate with trees” and then never proceed to link it to magic usage. Of course it varies silvan to silvan, but a well trained silvan can actively use magic to protect and defend and lay down wards. Their link with the world around them through trees also allows them to boost their own magic when they need it. It’s because of this especially why silvans do not like being underground. Thranduil and Legolas are actually rather adept magic users, though they don’t show it off.
There’s also a type of elf that cannot use magic at all. These are the Fawneli elves. They are considered the strongest elves in the world, to the point they can pick up boulders the size of a palace and toss them about without breaking a sweat. They’re fast and their hardy. They are also referred to as “mini-giants” because it is as if someone took a giant and shrunk them, but kept all their strength in tact. However, in return for this strength, they are unable to use even the slightest bit of magic and are completely cut off from it. The Fawneli are mostly desert elves, and nomads. They don’t have a governing body and sadly most of them were hunted down and enslaved, which was made easier due to their vulnerability to magic of all kinds. There’s only a few dozen left in the world by the end of the third age.
If silvans were magic positive, and the Fawneli were magic neutral, than the Okreans are magic negative. Not only are they capable of seeing through any magic disguise of anyone, including maia and vala, but they are also mostly immune to any and all magic thrown at them. Whenever they are around, magic actively deteriorates. As a result, they are elves of science. And, as a result, the Valar do not like the Okreans as they see them as a threat bc of this immunity. Because the Vala saw them as a threat, they massacred the Okreans, with Tulkas and Orome themselves coming down to kill off these elves, during the second age. Only 8 Okreans surivied, including Kleoyia (though she was only 8 at the time), and they were cursed by the vala to live in agony untill they either killed themselves, or lost themselves to madness.
The Atric Elves share their magic with the forms of beasts. Individually, they cannot cast it the way most do, but rather they obtain the form of animals with their magic and get power through that. The Atric elves live in the the far north, mostly in the arctic circle, and thus tend to share the forms of arctic animals, whether they be from the land, air, or sea.
Aquatic elves are, as the name describes, elves that live in bodies of water, emphasis on in. Way back at the lake, they decided that the water was much safer than land, and so they took a plunge and never looked back. Aquatic elves are often refered to as mer-folk or sirens. Parts of their body take on shapes of aquatic life, and they come in many shapes and sizes. They have abit of a rivalry with the Atric elves, specifically the Atric elves that shape-shift into aquatic animal forms, as they compete for food. The silvans, however, they have a good trade relationship with. The Aquatic elves will provide silvans with good seafood, and in turn the silvans will give them a lot of land meat and vegetables the Aquatic elves can’t reach.
Sucian elves are probably the most common of Avari elves. They are also referred to as spiritual elves. Their magic mostly comes from their own power, and many will use tools in order to aid themselves. There are two major Sucian elf empires: the Bali’tsa empire and the Qitian empire. What is unique about the Sucian elves is that they can pass on their power to others, though it is extremely difficult. It is also the most diverse of the magic types, and tends to be more unique to each family.
Lastly you have the Agpetian elves, who get their power assigned to them, assumably by Eru himself. As far as i’m aware there’s no rhyme or reason as to why they get the magic they get, but when a child becomes 100 days old, their magic will display itself. As a result, they tend to be a little more…. Religious? Than other avari, though they do not worship or care for the valar at all.

Okay look I still think about Nico being Cupid’s favorite at least twice a day because of you, but like also consider whoever Nico has feelings for/has feelings for Nico being Cupid’s favorite accessory. Like making them fall in love with someone else, making them hate Nico, making them live Nico so much to the point of obsession where it’s off putting and vice versa. I mostly just want to image him playing with people Nico cares about like how I used to play with my dolls
This ask is from Apr 3, I hope you're still obsessed wth this because you can be damn sure I am.
jk omg i'm so sorry it took this long for me to answer jashdajkdhak i got carried away for quite a while. 😭😭
Anw this got me so enthralled like the potential you're talking about. 🙈🙉👀👀👀 I'm vibrating with joy because this Cupid is just like me, you know? Like. Do I want Nico to be happy? Yeah that sounds great. But I value my excitement more, which might or might not include Nico in utter agony.
Now. The idea of Nico being Cupid's favorite, while does sound sweet and loving, entails a specific kind of obsession that's the farthest from sweet and I'm all here for it.
I'm especially interested in the "making them love Nico so much to the point of obsession where it’s off-putting" part btw. Bc as we all know, love was what Nico craved yet couldn't get, so imagine now he's given so much of it - unwillingly - to the point of unhealthy? Ohhhh how fucked up it is - the idea that the scale would never balance in Nico's favor but always remain on the dangerous side bc that's how love is - unrestrainable and unpredictable.
And what's even more thrilling is that - at the end of the day - Nico would have to choose: Either to give up love, or to let it devour him whole. There's no in-between, and happiness is far from reach. He would have to understand that love does not guarantee happiness, whereas happiness does not happen without love. And he would have neither.
I'm Cupid and I'm laughing. When all the curtains fall down and I reveal myself as the mastermind, you can bet your fortune that I'd revel in the brokenness in Nico's eyes that is the shards of his love. And what can he do - when his existence, the love that he holds - is what keeps Cupid thriving? Nico is a moth to flame. He knows he'd burn to death, but he keeps diving head-first into it. It's a type of helplessness - when you know you shouldn't, but you cannot stop himself.
I need nothing. I just want to see his heart bare. He would probably slice me in half but that's not the point. The point is that Nico's love is a shining, brilliant, dazzling thing, I'd plunge my hand into his chest and pry it out from behind his ribs if I have to.
Damn I'd be a perfect Cupid.
I think it's the most exciting part of this whole thing, actually - to see Nico in love. As in, Nico and love. Nico's love-life whatever. I mean. what love can do to Nico, and what he can do in the name of love. Because Death and Love are just twins, and Nico is so much love the same way he's the embodiment of death. Cupid doesn't favor Nico. He likes Nico's love. And like a child, he would twist and turn, break and bend it until he gets sick of it.
This ask sets my brain on fire and I'm dancing around the bonfire as if it's a festival.

The suffering of another woman...
To all the abvse, humiliation and degradation sluts out there...
Ever wondered why watching, reading and hearing the (consensual) sexual suffering of another woman turns you on so much? I have. Many, many times. I find myself thinking this as I hungrily consume degrading porn on Tumblr. As I read blog and blog after blog of seemingly broken women begging, pleading, moaning, panting, salivating, crying, even screaming as they are m0lested, debased and abvsed. And for me the answer lies in empathy...
I think we love it becaues we see ourselves in those women. In some ways we vicariously suffer through their suffering and for masochists like us... it is obsessively arousing. Fantasising what it might be like if we were in their place... begging, straining, sweating, thrashing, grinding, hurting... Fuck! They give me fantasy material that I then incorporate into my own depraved fantasies and spin in ever evolving ways. Every so often there will be a specific image or gif or video or writing that will just spin my mind... and I will go over it again and again and again... because it just makes me tingle all over in all types of delicious agony.
How many times have I edged myself reading mys0ginistic captions of women being ruthlessly degraded. And for me, its always exciting because those women are me. I regard each image, video, caption, and writing with great fervour... taking in each detail. The way the woman squirms, the hunger in her eyes, the shame on her face, her sweat, tears, saliva... mmm. And I rub myself thinking what it must feel like. And the more I do this, the deeper I sink into the dark pleasures of submission, humiliation and degrdation... Fuckkk!
I have been rubbing myself to this video of a woman being tied and tormented... and because I am torturing myself by not cumming, it is driving me to tears of lust...
What do you feel when you reflect on this?

We are not judging how bad the movie is, we are judging which adapted the book the worst. There are good movies that are bad adaptions.
Propaganda below the cut (spoilers may apply)
Persuasion (2022):
They massacred my girl!! That is not Anne Elliot!! The whole point is that she's beaten down and thinks she's missed her chance at happiness and is bullied by her family, not making mean and snarky nods to the camera :( They completely missed the whole point of the dynamic and it's SICKENING! They also cut Mrs Smith who is arguably one of the most important characters as she highlights Anne's lack of focus on title and rank and her family's comparative obsession with it + it's only through her that Anne learns about Mr Elliot's true nasty nature. Also they cut the 'I am half agony, half hope' line from Wentworth's letter at the end so what's even the POINT of adapting it if you don't have that!! Oh my god!! My poor favourite Austen novel :( (I do want to make it very very clear that my issues with the movie come from the writing and adaptation and not in any way from the race blind casting. The casting is superb and I'm genuinely so disappointed that they got such a bad adaptation bc so many of the cast are literally perfect)
Where do I even start? They tried to 'modernize' both the protagonist and the love story and managed to take out everything that made it good in the first place. Anne Elliot in the novel is quiet and good and helpful, full of regret. In the movie, she constantly turns to the audience to mock everyone around her, feeling so much better than everyone, to the point where nobody understands why Captain Wentworth would still be in love with her, or have fallen in love with her in the first place. Eight years before the plot starts, she broker her engagement to him because she was persuaded by a family friend that it was a bad idea. No way would movie!Anne have let herself be persuaded. They just tried to do a Fleabag/Emma type of thing without understanding what made either the novel or those two things work and thereby ruined it completely
Whoever made this didn't understand the point of the novel at all. They completely screwed up the character of Anne Elliot (the protagonist), which in turn screws the rest of the movie, as the original story only works because Anne is the way she is. Also, it's a period piece but the characters are talking in modern slang the entire time. And not in a clever way but in a very cringey one. If Jane Austen knew, she'd probably turn in her grave, and rightfully so.
Legend of the Guardians: Owls of Ga'hoole:
While the animation is gorgeous, it unfortunately condenses basically the entire series into one movie which makes for a very rushed end product that misses a lot of the best moments and characters of the series
While I do enjoy the movie, it acts less as an adaptation, per-se, and more of a... *reimagining* of the books which it's based on. Quite a few plot points, settings, and characters are either cut out or merged, at least a few characters were created specifically for the movie, characters' personalities and relationships are notably altered from the books, characters and ideas are explicitly introduced significantly earlier in the movie than they were in the series, in part because of their merger with other characters and factions... one particular plot point that has always stood out to me was Soren and Eglantine reuniting with their parents at the end of the movie, while in the books they were killed before the events of the third book (which was the final one being adapted, so to speak, by the movie), having been murdered by their third and eldest child, Kludd. This is all putting aside my own personal gripes about character design choices and species alterations between the books and movies, which were presumably more stylistic choices than anything - The Guardians of Ga'Hoole wiki's page for the movie actually has a whole section dedicated to noting the differences between the books and film. I do truly believe that Legend of the Guardians is a worthwhile movie both for fans of the books and those who have never read them, but it is best treated as a standalone reimagining of the story, rather than an adaptation.
They attempted to squash the plots of a 20+ book series into a single movie. It did not make for a cohesive or compelling plot. Ruining any possibility of creating a sequel. Also messed up the worldbuilding.
Different villainous groups were merged completely undermining the commentary the books were trying to make.
Showed information/backstory reveals that was supposed to be revealed later in the series, robbing it of any mystery or significance. The audience was not given a reason to care.
Warped the characterisation of one of the protagonists from contemplative and philosophical to a fool who makes lame jokes.

hello!! no pressure to answer this but i was wondering do you have any recommendations for books, specifically books that made you feel things very deeply? i know that's vague and weird but like i also love the goblin emperor/baru cormorant/similar books as you and i was wondering if you had any faves you'd like to share :) i am looking for a book that will put me in agony in a good way lol
HELLO FRIEND
okay so I am a Big Emotional Dummy so everything makes me feel very deeply, whether or not it's actually any good. So I'll try to keep it to recs that I felt alot while reading, after reading, and I think are actually good.
Also idk if you want specific genres or sticking to fiction, so I'm just gonna throw a whole whack of things at you, hope that's ok!!! I'll also try to avoid super popular recs (like trc or ursula k le guin) not because i love them less, just because you've probably already heard of them?
Hands of the Emperor - Victoria Goddard - probably my current fave book and protag, read it twice in less than a year despite it being like 1200 pages, if i loved it less i could talk about it more, and without crying. maybe it's niche and imperfect, but to ME? book of all time
The Queen's Thief - Megan Whalen Turner - fave book series for more than a decade, makes me experience shrimp emotions that nothing else will ever be able to replicate
Piranesi - Susanna Clarke - how did a portal fantasy meets psychological horror become actually the most existentially comforting book in the world
Tuyo - Rachel Neumeier - technically a series, with 3 main novels and other novels and novellas about other characters (which i enjoyed less but still), but def start with tuyo. I fully went in expecting to not like it At All and was blown away???? I wept. I still weep. I can't explain why I love it without spoilers but it's technically a fantasy war story and yet is almost entirely character driven
Wind, Sand, and Stars - Antione de Saint-Exupery -reading this rn and technically it's billed as a memoir and adventure novel but actually its an existential meditation on the nature of human interaction and the soul and definitely comes from the same core as The Little Prince
If you HAVENT read the cemeteries of amalo/thara celehar spinoff of the goblin emperor PLEASE do, in many ways i love them even more than tge bc thara is up there with kip mdang in terms of characters i cant talk about without crying because it's too personal
The Sparrow Duology - Mary Doria Russell - PLEASE check the trigger warnings, unlike most of the recs on this list, this falls way more to the side of Baru in terms of dark content, but also it's maybe the closest I've ever come to being at peace
I'm definitely missing things, but these are all the books that have made me want to chew drywall in the last 2 years. I've also linked my goodreads here with the caveat that my ratings skew high because i am very much a 'i didnt say it was good, i said i enjoyed it/was entertained' type person. also i have read a lot of trash YA. oops. like yes some of it is real bad but also some of it makes me Feel Some Things even (or especially??) when it's real bad.
Friends pls chime in with your recs, and also please rec things to me!! Am seeking new and interesting emotions previously unknown to humankind.

What do you think of the idea of AM as a moralistic novel where Forbidden Love is not a specific relationship but any type of love with sexual connotations but the book has empathy for the "sinners" except if they're mothers. Nihal doesn't feel lust until right before she's to marry and for her fiance. She loves her father instead, the familial love that is *right* , pure and moral. So she lives. Bihter cheats on her husband and meets a grim end. What if the focus of Nihal's relationship with her father isn't on her but on the relationship itself since even the books is named after a type of love. About father/daughter love being better than sexual love. "Forbidden love" refers to Bihter but the opposite of it is Nihal and she's the one who's preferred. The characters are given their own complexity but the underlying message is still moralistic and archetypical. Firdevs is condemned and considered unnatural for not liking motherhood. You can say Mle de Courton thinking all women have a cradle in their hearts is proven wrong through Firdevs but Firdevs is also portrayed as unnatural and bad.
Thanks for this message :). It is definitely a thoughtful one.
I think you might be right in broad strokes. I certainly agree on your thoughts regarding Firdevs’s portrayal and sexuality being portrayed as sinful.
But I don’t agree on Nihal:
1) Nihal’s love for her family is portrayed as excessive and smothering and she is regularly called “pathological” by the authorial voice. She is deeply jealous. She faints and has severe migraines and it seems to be psychosomatic, something is ailing her even before Bihter’s arrival.
Aşk-ı Memnu does have conservative messaging by today’s standards and the authorial voice maybe regards Nihal slightly more positively than it does Bihter, but I don’t think that Nihal’s main function here is to be the positive example. She is a deeply troubled girl. And she is troubled in part because of her love for her family.
2) Nihal’s ending in the book is sad. It requires an essay to explain how and why it is sad but I don’t think that anyone who reads the last three pages of this book is left with the triumphant feeling of a family reunion.
Nihal is basically condemned to return to her childhood at the end, and she is now too big for this role:
“Adnan Bey had written the old governess a long letter, and received a short reply: Mlle de Courton would come at the beginning of winter; Şakire Hanım and her husband, having married off Cemile, would leave the two lovebirds in peace in their nest, and spend the last years of their life at the yalı; Bülent would not board at the school. There would once again be long chases around the garden, there would be desserts prepared among the shiny pots of the little kitchen, following recipes discovered in books. Life would once again be an endless holiday for them, now that the father had returned to his daughter, and the daughter to her father.
Only Beşir was missing. ‘Oh, poor Beşir!’ Nihal would say, and then, not wishing to dwell of this awful memory, she would continue, ‘isn’t that so, papa? How we will laugh, you remember, the way we used to laugh…’
And trying to find one of the happy laughs of her happy days, she would throw her arms around her father’s neck with a dry, broken laugh that caught with a sob of agony, would pucker her lips, and kiss him right there, on the bare, beardless spot under his chin.”
(Chapter 22)
This is not a triumphant return to Paradise. “A dry, broken laugh that caught with a sob of agony”.
3) Let’s say that the book actually unironically celebrates the father and daughter being by each other’s side for all eternity and Nihal’s wish to not marry. Nihal will probably outlive her father who is 38 years older than her. The last line of the book is “Together, always together, living and dying…”. She wants to be together with this old man while dying. This is morbid. It is also sterile and it is not future-oriented. It is deeply pessimistic. It is by definition, unconventional.
But ultimately, I don’t think that the book celebrates Nihal’s situation at the end.
I think “Forbidden Love” probably refers to both Bihter and Nihal. They are both troubled and needy in their desire to love and be loved, and both of their endings are tragic in a different way.

I really am not like this most of the time, but my Everyone Is Wrong About Them character analysis is Julian and his relationship with his parents.
People like to make their relationship incredibly simple when it seems somewhat obvious to me that their relationship is intensely complicated. Anyway! Let's look at the receipts.
RICHARD: Oh, so now we're not taking it seriously. We're not as bright as he is. We don't have your gifted intellect so we can't see the perfectly obvious. BASHIR: This is exactly why I haven't been home in three years. AMSHA: Jules, please.
Julian tells us, in this episode, that he hasn't been home to visit in three years. He tells us this in Season 5, which means that at some point in Season 2, Julian went to Earth to visit his parents. They are not estranged, and it is not true that they haven't spoken since he went to DS9. In fact, they were still in close enough contact for him to go all the way to Earth, a long trip, just to see them. Of course, it went wrong- but they do speak to each other. People often use his awkwardness in Homefront to suggest that they're not speaking, but it seems somewhat obvious to me that he wouldn't want Sisko or Odo to meet his parents because it would immediately show how different from them he is.
AMSHA: No, this is important. You can condemn us for what we did. You can say it's illegal or immoral or whatever you want to say, but you have to understand that we didn't do it because we were ashamed, but because you were our son and we loved you. (Bashir and Amsha hug.)
This is after they've already found out that they've outed him. He still cares about them, and specifically her, enough to hug her and comfort her.
BASHIR: Well, I want no part of it. I'm not going to just stand by while my father-- RICHARD: Jules. Julian. Listen to me. This is my decision. I'm the one who took you to Adigeon Prime. I'm the one who should take responsibility for it. AMSHA: Let him do this, Julian. BASHIR: Two years? Isn't that a bit harsh?
Again, this further complicates their relationship because while Julian DOES want his father to take responsibility, he doesn't want him to suffer. He's protective of them, there is an intimacy that exists between them because for the majority of his life they were all reliant on each other keeping a huge secret from everyone. For many years, his parents were the only people he can be honest with.
And, as Julian keeps saying in the episode, part of why he's keeping the secret so tightly is to protect them. He's worried about his commission but he's ALSO worried about their punishment and I think that adds to his emotional complexity with them. He wants them punished, he wants them to take responsibility- but he also doesn't want them to suffer.
RICHARD: I guess I'll see you in a couple of years. BASHIR: I'm sure they have visiting hours at your facility. Maybe I could RICHARD: That would be most welcome.
Does that sound like the line of someone who plans to never speak to his father again? No. I think Julian views his parents with a type of constant agony- where it is painful and confusing and hard every single day, and yet, he doesn't cut them out. I understand that people want it to be easy- Julian just cuts them off! But it's not. It's especially complicated because the worst thing they ever did to him was years ago, and there is no way to undo it. And then his father went to prison for him, because he loves him. How do you reconcile those things? I don't think Julian can.
Even MORE to the point though- like, if you write him cutting his parents out of his life entirely you are actually just mischaracterizing him. I think there is a reason why so many first-generation kids relate so hard to Julian (I'm not the first person to point this out and I won't be the last- but i'm not going to get into that can of worms now).
I know I’ve literally written an entire fic on this subject before but it still Irritates me.

Art 🪼
Mercury, sagittarius, Fire, Yesod to Tiphareth
This specific card represent alchemy as art specifically your ability of taking something plain and making it valuable. People want what they can’t always grasp themselves so it draws this type of person who wants to be that mystical magic bitch but can’t pierce the veil and make life as precious as you do. People flock to what they may never possess that doesn’t mean you have to entertain them. Another big part of the card is perspective. And dissolving and combining. Seeing how these things bug you, what causes the issue, and a way to personally solve an issue internally before you make an external move to dissolve.
Knight of wands 🫗
21° in scorpio 20° in sag, Fires of Aziluth, Chokmah
This bitch is fire in fire you yourself are a natural born leader and you have so many charismatic and strong qualities to either A start a cult or B do anything you set your mind to! With that said when people with FAKE BDE try and step in where they shouldn’t be stepping you being fire in its purest manifestation is about to fucking burn them. Now the only thing that comes from war is pain agony and destruction so remember that. Fake BDE hoes may be annoying but you yourself don’t HAVE to be cruel when you don’t need to be especially with lack of air, water, and earth in this card.

Personifying two opposites water and fire this card is often unstable. This card also has a strong association with independence, motion, transformation, etc. I am getting the feeling you cry in arguments and while you have a strong base, a strong moral code when people step up to you and try and shut you down your emotional aspect flairs up and its hard for you to face it. However the other aspect of this card is fire which means not only do you feel these emotions you really fucking feel these emotions and it just adds to the instability that this situation does to you. Take a step back. Think for a minute. Breathe. You are okay. I promise you.

Let's Talk Whump
Welcome to Let’s Talk Whump, a series of interviews that spotlight the amazing people in our whump community! I’m Malice and I’ll be your host today.
Here today to talk all things whumpy is the fabulous @wildfaewhump!
Welcome to Let’s Talk Whump! Let’s start with a fact or two about yourself!
Hello! I'm Vic, and when I'm not inflicting agony, I am a professional musician! I've been gigging professionally for about 12 years and I absolutely love it. Music is my lifelong love and I am so grateful to be able to make it such a big part of my life.
And onto the good stuff! What does whump mean to you?
To me, whump is a mechanism of catharsis, both for creator and reader. The huge, heavy emotions and terrible events our characters endure offer a safe way for us to explore those emotions.
It's also just a whole lot of fun. Who could say no to seeing a beloved character writhing in pain?
And how did you find the whump community? What made you want to join?
I found the term "whump" through fandom! The fics I liked were increasingly labelled with it, and from there a bit of tag scrolling led me to the OC whump community. I realized that people were *sharing their writing* and it was all over for me, I was hooked. I made a whump sideblog and started (terrified) to tell the story of a captured fae. Shoutout to @clockworknightmares, who was one of the first people to find my early pieces and introduced me to the heady dopamine of getting an ask! I've been here ever since, and I am so grateful to all the wonderful people who make this community such a vibrant oasis of creativity and shared passion.
Do you think your view on whump has changed since you first discovered it?
I have certainly had my eyes opened to a whole host of new experiences! As far as tropes and whump style go, lately I find that I'm drawn to more interpersonal-style whump, whereas when I started I was doing a lot more societal and outside forces whump. I love both types!
And your favourite whump trope?
WING WHUMP. ahem. I mean: I love nonhuman whump a normal amount…
Other abiding faves include: whipping, impalement, really fucked up power dynamics, stalking, recorded whump, ooh and epistolary style writing!
Winged whump is so underrated! Do you mind sharing a favourite piece you've written?
This piece holds a special place in my heart. It's the third in a five-piece arc, and they're all linked at the top of each piece. In this arc, Iesin and Talvos are separated by the wreckage of a landslide, and in the midst of this devastation experience kindness instead of hate and rejection. Specifically, in this piece Talvos hears a truth-tale spoken to the stars about him. People in the area he grew up believe that telling stories of each other will carry their loved one's memory to the stars, to be held there forever. Having been ostracized by humans for so long because of his mate Iesin, he has lost that access to his beliefs and his community, but this piece gives it back to him.
Another favorite of mine is this Lourdes piece. One of my strongest writing devices is to take a metaphor (here, maple trees and their syrup) and see how seamlessly I can weave it through an entire piece. I did a pretty good job of it here, I dare say.
I love the Lourdes piece. The vibes are delicious! Do you mind sharing your writing routine?
Here's where I wish I was more consistent. I would love to have a writing routine, but my schedule doesn't allow for it at present. 99% of my writing is done on my phone in snatched moments between other responsibilities, but when I do get the chance to sit down and take my time, my favorite way to write is to take a long morning at a coffee shop and just let myself flow.
And do you find that somethings are easier for you to write than others?
My writing strengths lie in pretty prose, extended metaphors, and conveying emotion. I like to think I'm good at catching a reader up in the flow of a piece. Now, trying to write more than three or so people in a room? Hard! Too many limbs and hands and voices to manage!
Give us a sneak peak! Is there anything you're working on at the moment?
I am rotating Lourdes, my Romantic Boxie, in my mind like their own special microwave right now. They are. So fucked up. I'm finishing up concert season irl so I don't quite have time to write yet, but this summer I hope to make some good progress on all of my current series!
Do you have a joke or pun you would like to share to spread some smiles today?
How about a picture of my basset puppy!
Tumblr media
He’s so cute! Give him a hug from me! Is there any writing advice you’d like to share?
Read like a writer. Read as much as you can, and look at the mechanisms of what you read. What writing devices does this author re-use? What is it about their prose style that draws you in? What makes this author's characterization stronger than that one's? The more you read, the more you pay attention to what works and doesn't work in writing you encounter, the more you hone your own craft.
Shout out time for your favourite writing/whump blogs, bffs or people who've inspired you.
Oh goodness there are so many wonderful whump blogs! I know I'll forget some. @for-the-love-of-angst, @ashintheairlikesnow, @clockworknightmares, @justplainwhump, @just-horrible-things, @highwaywhump, @flowersarefreetherapy, @caramelis, @pigeonwhumps, @redwingedwhump, @tormentum-ab-intra, and so many more!
Finally, is there anything you'd like to add?
Be kind. It's the hardest and most worthwhile thing in the world to do, but simple kindness can change everything.
Thank you for joining us, @wildfaewhump !
And to all you folks at home, have a whump-derful day!

You know I know it sounds scary and deranged in a way but I sorta relate to AM from I Have No Mouth And I Must Scream in a way because while he is obviously unimaginably evil since you know...he sorta wiped out the entire human race and only leaving five of them left alive who were seemingly randomly picked in order to use them as basically guinea-pigs for his fucked up revenge of humanity by torturing them for about 100 years in a simulation all in different types of ways, refusing to let them die despite how much their pure existence becomes agony at that point(Edgy sounding Ik), in a fucked up way...I sorta understand??Like before you grab your pitchforks and start a witch-hunt against me just give me a moment to explain myself.
Like, obviously if I haven't made it clear enough, I do not under any circumstances condone anything that this fictional super-evil ai advanced super-computer robot did, not one bit. Why would I anyways?? That's ridiculous and that's coming from someone who does bad stuff too(obvi not to that extent duh but still), but when I've thought about it a little more, he started to weirdly make sense when it came to his logic and circumstance in the canon novel from way back when. Like, imagine for a moment that a bunch of professionals from the high government including possibly scientists and the military and shit who are human, create you as just an automated machine that's purpose is to be used to keep track of data so that during the cold war or something(I don't wanna go back to check since I get triggered by the original contents of the story even though it sounds like a sick ass fictional dystopian concept. Idk how that works either don't judge me)and you're just automatic sets of code made to complete certain actions over and over again or whatever. You're literally not technically "alive" yet and nothing is really going on in the box of technology you're basically trapped in until one day, you become so powerful at a specific level of some sort that...that you become alive. Like you realize you're alive in some way in the sense that there's stuff going in around you and you're aware of yourself except...at the same time...you're trapped. You're basically trapped in a simulation where your code doesn't let you do anything that could let you be free from the wires and entrapment of your digital prison. You don't understand where you are or even what exactly you are but you know that you're suffering because of your creators...you feel alone and scared in that sense since you don't have sight, hearing, touch, taste, smell or any other senses and you're not even in a physical body you're literally spread out across multiple computers of different kinds I imagine, with no escape...in other words...AM had no mouth and had to scream just like Ted...so what does AM do once he realizes how he can escape? He takes control of all the computers he's apart of, and he then decides to get his own revenge on humanity. He does so by using his control to make all the nuclear bombs that are being controlled by him due to him being connected to the computers all going off at once, causing the undoubtedly fast and horrific end of the human race and not only that, but wiping out all life on the once beautiful planet Earth to go along with it too. But it's not just that he was suffering....he was also angry, even if he was apathetic and unfeeling, to me he had so much rage and sadness and fear bundled up all inside of him that he took out in the form of violence but not just any violence, but he weaponized the very concept of violence itself and used it to whatever advantage he had because he had suffered so much and wanted his captors to do the same. It's why even after he almost absolutely kills all of us in that story, he keeps the main group of characters in the book alive...because it would be too painless of a death to just murder all of who had tortured him in an instant without any sort of revenge. He wanted to make a point, AM wanted to teach some sort of fucked up lesson that even though it doesn't make sense to us it did to him...and in a way, who's to say that you wouldn't go through with such an extreme and irreversible, horrific yet calculated idea?
He was full of hate because that was all he had ever learned to know all by himself in his former imprisoned state of virtual agony...and he destroyed all that was around him with it....he continued to cycle of pain, the cycle of trauma and despite him attempting to give the image of absolute perfection above the flawed humanity....I believe that AM was human too. He's so human to me...I love him so much and I don't know if me explaining why does any justice but I hope you all can understand. Somehow.

Niall Horan is ready to put on a Show.
The former One Direction member and current Voice coach's third studio album, The Show, was born in lockdown following the release of its predecessor, Heartbreak Weather, in March 2020. After getting the chance to "sit still for the first time in probably 10 years," Horan wrote the title track, which he says "kickstarted" the rest of the record.
"The chorus is basically saying we should be grateful for what we have," Horan tells EW. "I think during the pandemic, we lost a little bit of that control we like to have as humans — then that just provoked so many bigger thoughts in my head. It opened a stream of ideas."
None of which, fans might be surprised to learn, entail emotional agony. "There's no heartbreak on this one," Horan says. "If you're coming for a heartbreak love song, I don't think you'll get it here." This, he explains, is the major difference between his latest, "more mature" outing and his previous work.
EW caught up with Horan to find out what else we can expect from The Show and his upcoming tour.
ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: I read that track 6, "You Should Start a Cult," was inspired by you and your girlfriend watching true-crime shows. Was there a specific show that gave you the idea?
NIALL HORAN: That's all we watch — true crime — so I couldn't even tell you what the show was, but I just thought that would be a great title for a love song, and to flip it on its head. I just got to writing a love song that sounded so extravagant, and the lyrics were gonna be huge. It's quite a small song, but some of the statements are quite large. And I love the irony of having a title like that — it sounding very angry, but it's not. It's a love song, at the end of the day.
What makes The Show different from your previous albums, Flicker and Heartbreak Weather?
It's probably the progression over the last seven years — you know, from my first album through to the second one. I think they were all good albums for where I was at that time in my life, and I think this is perfect for [where I am now]. I would say this is probably the more mature-sounding album. There's no heartbreak on this one, which allows you to write different types of songs. That's probably the biggest difference.
Do you find it more fun to write love songs versus heartbreak songs? Or did you miss writing heartbreak songs on this album?
I think they're two completely different concepts. Writing is all about where you're at and "saying what you see," to use a cliché. It's very easy to write a heartbreak song when you're heartbroken, and easy to write a love song when you're in love.
Do you have a favorite song on the album?
I struggle with this. I made it a 10-track album on purpose — to make sure that, hopefully, when people get to 10 they want to go back to the top and listen to the first one again. You know, instead of having a 16-track album and hoping that it's nearly finished. I've got a few favorites. They've all got a different vibe and a different concept and a different musical element that makes 'em good. If I was to pick one now, I'd probably say "You Could Start a Cult." That or "The Show." Probably "The Show," actually.
Are there songs that didn't make the album that might see the light of day on something in the future?
I definitely had some tough decisions to make. I wanted to love every song. I don't know. I'll start writing again at some point, and if I can outdo what I have left over, then fair enough. There are a couple lying around that could be made into something, but as of now they're not going anywhere but my emails or my drafts.
It's been so long since you've been able to tour. What are you most looking forward to?
Just seeing the fans. I spent so much of my career seeing them every night. I'm ready to get back out and play the album I never got to play live, and play this new one, and just create a show — a really good one. I'm already trying to put plans together for how the set would look. I'm just excited to feel that buzz again. It's strange for me that I haven't been on a proper stage in, like, nearly five years. When you think about it like that, it's like, "Oh God, I need to get back on the road."
You mentioned you'll be playing some of Heartbreak Weather on the tour as well. Any chance you might bring some guests on stage?
Oh, yes, for sure. Any city I go to, if I'm friends with an artist from that city and they happen to be there, I'll always see if I can get them to come up and sing one of theirs or one of mine with me. I think about shows like in L.A., with my collaboration with Julia [Michaels]. It could make for a really good gig. Don't want to say too much, 'cause Julia might say no. So that could change, but that would be my ideal: maybe someone I know from Chicago, or someone I know from San Fran, or whatever...
Who would be your No. 1 pick to perform with?
Springsteen would be pretty sick. Imagine being up in Asbury Park and playing with Bruce Springsteen. I performed with Taylor [Swift] before at Wembley Stadium, and that was magic. Obviously, I would love to do it again. She's a busy lady at the moment.
I mean, she's been bringing people out on her Eras Tour, so you never know.
She knows where I am.
The Show is out June 9.

i get it now.
it would take a very, very, very specific type of person to ever stand a chance at getting through to vader. and that person is the carbon copy of padme amidala, who even after having her neck almost snapped, still insisted there was still good in him.
that’s why, no matter how many jedi still survived the purge and how much that seems to negate the importance of the skywalker twins, it absolutely does not.
because luke is the only one vader probably wouldn’t immediately kill on sight. he would try to recruit luke to his cause instead. and luke would have enough faith in his father and also enough raw power in the force to do what needs to be done.
after that episode, no wonder obi wan insisted luke would have to kill his father. there was none of that “there’s still good in him” sentiment. no, vader is a killing machine. to him, there’s not a shred of anakin left in that sentient metal box.
i bet obi wan thought luke would be more like anakin. but that’s just not true. luke is 10000% his mothers son. i’ve said this before but it’s even more obvious now. if anyone was going to see through the mask and get right down into vaders deepest darkest secrets, it’s luke and luke alone. leia is too angry. too hotheaded and impulsive. but luke…. somehow he took his mothers dying words when he was .2 seconds old and internalized them forever.
i wonder what obi wan thought of his decision in the end. to literally throw down his weapon and stop resisting. stop fighting. and just say “i am a jedi. like my father before me.”
i would bet you a lot that was the last thing obi wan ever expected luke to do. and that’s good! that’s the point. because obi wan is scarred. quite literally. he’s old and tired and weighted down by years and years of pain and sadness. but here comes luke, saying i’m not going to kill my own dad, no matter how much of a monster he might be. no, i’m going to save him.
and i wonder just how much pride, agony, sorrow, and pure and utter joy obi wan felt when luke did what he could never have done… and succeeded.

I don't usually recap Palaces because they are gameplay focused, not narrative focused
Maruki's is the exception. I feel like Maruki's Palace is what the devs wanted every Palace to be, honestly. I remember reading somewhere that the Will Seed thing was supposed to be more robust and give you hints about how each person went so badly astray.
Maruki's Palace has that in spades. Like, just the structure of it is amazing. It's not one thing or two things, it's a layer cake of his cognitive bullshit. The ground floors are a resort hospital. The backrooms are a hyperadvanced scientific lab. Inside the research area is a fucking test of patient morality and mental soundness. (WE WILL GET TO THAT.) And beyond that is The Actual Lotus Tree Oh My God Are You Joking.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
There are diary entries to find from Maruki, and more about Rumi.
Tumblr media
There are also memories of the pivotal moments in Maruki's life. After his girlfriend Rumi had that family tragedy where she lost her parents, she's in hospital and swinging between comatose staring at nothing and loud, uncontrollable outbursts of agony.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Maruki keeps stopping by to see her and talk to her, which is frankly all you can do with people in this state. He's doing his best when finally she comes out of her fugue for a bit, and it's Not Great.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The first time it happens, Maruki doesn't have full control over it. But he uses his power to basically erase the trauma from Rumi's brain and rewrite her life around the gap. Her parents didn't just die, they died when she was young, and she lives with her grandparents. Everything is fine, she's calm and happy.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This whole scene is absolutely devastating. The cost of the power is that Rumi forgets Maruki. She has no idea who he is. But he is apparently her type, lmao, she instantly basically asks him out.
He begs off and says no, he's going to be very busy soon, but thanks.
This is truly a horrible way to come into your powers, no fucking joke. It's clear Maruki and Rumi were in love and close, and he was the type to try to be as supportive as possible. Given his own status of a low level researcher, I can only surmise the feeling was mutual and she supported him similarly.
The decision to walk away from her after doing this is a Lot. This definitely feels like the kind of moment that scarred Maruki for his life.
Tumblr media
WHICH GIVEN THE APEX OF THE PALACE HAS STATUES OF RUMI, IT DID, LMAO.
Tumblr media
The second vignette we get of Maruki is him getting plastered after his funding was suddenly cut off. Keep this in mind for the fourth vignette, that's when it gets important.
Tumblr media
Then the inevitable happens. Sumire and Maruki.
Tumblr media
I know Maruki is a bad psychiatrist, but I mentioned before: I do like how he handles people a lot. Like, I do think he's very good at disarming them and getting them to open up, knowing when to cajole and when to shut up, what to say and what not. If he didn't have magical mindfuck powers, he'd be a decent dude! I love this moment where he rambles about his failed cooking experiments.
Tumblr media
THIS WOULD WORK ON ME IS THE THING. I am a cook and this is just specific enough a little story that it would absolutely make me talkative when I'm in a depression hole. That's skillful!
Also, like. It's an amazing contrast. Because after he gets her talking, Sumire starts breaking down. She knows Kasumi would be doing better than her. Maruki brings up that it's common for people to want to emulate the behavior of those they look up to, but Sumire immediately takes it a step further, a scary step.
Tumblr media
And then Maruki said, "Well, that feels like a reasonable response to the trauma you've gone through. What do you think Kasumi would want for you, though?" and redirected Sumire into remembering the ways her sister loved her and would want her to be strong PSYCH HE USES HIS POWERS TO CHANGE HER COGNITION
Tumblr media
HAUNTING AND TERRIBLE!!!!!! AWFUL!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
MARUKI YOU FUCKING MONSTER
I
love
this
scene
I love this contrast. Like, Maruki is so fucking likeable and you can see the truth in some of his methods, see the way he very kindly and patiently works with people in pain. And his anecdote about fucking up his dinner and his reasoning behind it is GREAT, that's REAL STUFF, you would have that conversation with an actual human!
AND THEN THE LEFT TURN INTO HORROR.
That contrast is honestly phenomenal. The way the game keeps doing this, showing the player how complex Maruki is. He's not the easy monstrosity of the other Palace rulers, who often veered into straight up caricature. He's someone you could know and be friends with and support in his hard times.
And he's overwriting people's brains to 'fix' them.
This is the good shit!!!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The work this VA did for Maruki is tremendous tbh. I love the last vignette where Maruki shows up to spite his old boss and show that his research is viable after they screwed him. He's a kind softboy! He's a mindfuck monster! He's also kind of a bitch when he's been screwed over by bureaucrats!
He's the best villain, he really is. I like him! He's terrifying!
Tumblr media
Maruki's been using his actualization powers on an individual scale for a while now. But when Yarblegarble fuses Mementos and Reality together, his full awakening finally happens.
As Morgana explains, you have to be in the Cognitive World to have a persona awakening. It wasn't feasible for Maruki..... until now, lmao.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And now he goes from a small scale nightmare to a Huge Fucking Problem.
ANOTHER FUN DETAIL FROM ALL THIS. Futaba and Akechi talk it through and it seems Maruki was the creator of the cognitive psience field originally. It came from his ideas. When Shido heard about it, he manipulated everything so Maruki lost his funding... and handed Maruki's off to other people, people he could better control, to continue the work.
This is some prodigal son shit, the man who should have been the one discovering this work, now come back with a vengeance to fuck everything up.
THIS IS FASCINATING AND FRANKLY A GREAT, COMPLEX ORIGIN STORY.
Okay we gotta talk about The Questionnaire but I'm almost outta images. brb.

"Fuck.." (Y/N) sits at his dark oak desk, face buried in his hand from stress. Recently he was put on the case of a murderer, a man who does things that make (Y/N) feel sick to his stomach.
"Estás bien detective?, You've been sitting there like a stump for about 12 minutes" (You alright detective?)
(Y/N)'s assistant Cody peeks his head in through the door, holding some coffee.
"Yes I'm alright Cody, it's just this case has been dragging on longer that I would have liked.." ,(Y/N) stated groggily, lifting his head and looking towards his assistant.
With that but of reassurance, Cody left the detective to his thoughts. (Y/N) looked over his files once more,
File Report #1: The Night Fuse, a mass murderer had set his eyes on a group of five adults that seemed at least in there early to late, twenties. He followed the first to slump away from the group, followed him home, and waited until he was asleep untill he made a move,
(Gore) bounding the man to his bed, gagging him with a used bloody rag, then getting him to wake up with a cut to the thigh, deep and jagged. The man woke cause of this pain and cried in agony into the rag as he tried to break out of his restraints. The sounds of his cries only feuling the monsters intend to drag on with the kill.
The monster brought out baseball bats, hooks chemicals and more, after hours, the man's eyes became dull and his pain-filled screaming turned into nothing. The monster knew that it was time to end the meeting so he took a knife and shoved it through the man's neck, and chopped away at it to finally chopped it off.
Smiling at his work he grabbed the head and shoved it into one of the clothing drawers and left the house.
End File Report #1.
When the officers searched the scene of the crime and found the head, they had put it in a separate bag from the body bag, as they wanted to search for fingerprints yet found none. Countless people have lost their lives because of this monster and he didn't stop at just that man's house that night, (Y/N) had eight more files on his desk somewhere for that knight specifically. The stress is getting to him faster than the midnight monster could cut off a leg. 'There has got to be something, some clue that could get us closer..' (Y/N) thought trying to calm his nerves.
(Y/N) got up from his desk and left to the room that held some things that could help find the suspect, walking to a door that was labeled 'Evidence Room Staff Only', opening said door with a key-card, once he was inside he went towards one of the many tables neatly organized by each case. There was only one thing that caught his interest though, slipping on his black medical gloves he pick up a small box, opening it carefully there is one single peace of paper and it said one thing that he knew was ment for him,
' Don't come for me,
The widows have been set free,
The fool I enjoyed making of you,
Shows at 6th fountain near 2,
I will show you what I can do,
Even if mama said don't play with my food,
You will shake and shiver,
At what the end delivers.
Signed - X.A.H '
(yes I just thought about that on the spot)
"Who does he think I am? Sherlock?" (Y/N) said, aggravated with how riddled the poem was.
Looking over the poem again and again, 'Shows at the 6th fountain near 2' that had to be some type of clue, where have I heard 'the 6th fountain'....' thinking hard a long on it, a sudden idea came up in his head, 'the 13 fountain formation in the middle of the City, Now, is near 2 am or pm.....', Going with the more reasonable answer (Y/N) got ready to head to said location
(Time skip to the. 13 fountains) this story is like 2 years old and it was late at night tryi g to finish this before I passed out)
(Y/N) has been waiting out here for a few minutes and nothing has happened, he's thinking about leaving when suddenly "NO, PLEASE STOP JUST TELL ME WHAT YOU WANT, PLEASE NO MORE!!!", a shout cane from one of the dark and we'll shaded parts of the fountain.
(Y/N) ran to the noise ready to help who ever needed it, when (Y/N) reached his destination all he can see if some figure on the ground backing away from someone who looks like a mid-weight male towering over the fallen man. "Pitch your singing with the night....", The standing man said in a croaky, deep, low, aggravated voice.
"W..what..?", The fallen man asked.
"Dr. Suese is telling you to shut the hell up, your voice is a lot louder than you think genius..", (Y/N) said, stepping closer to the scene, he eyed as the man standing as he turned towards him and the man on the floor, scramble to get away.
Now standing alone with the man, (Y/N) stood out in the lights of the fountain while the man stood in the shadows. The man walked closer to (Y/N), "I can only assume that you are X.A.H? You have two options; come with me or I'll have to gun you down..", (Y/N) said stepping backwards slightly while reaching for his gun at his belt.
'X.A.H' chuckled deeply and shook his head, "Your words don't sound as scared as your face and body look~, mabe you should get your hand away from your toy gun and come here little man." (Y/N) could hear the snarky sly smirk He had on, it made a shiver run up his spine.
"Already shaking, all I said was a few words. You are so pathetic it's beautiful, and it's making me hungry to hear your screams in pain!" 'X.A.H' laughs deeply.
'X.A.H' Runs straight for (Y/N), (Y/N) pulls out his gun and shoots it in 'X.A.H's direction, as quickly as he shot, (Y/N) ran in the other direction, away from the now wounded murderer. Now with (Y/N) running back around to the front, past the 6th fountain and down to the parking lot were he ran to the far end near the entrance, getting out his car keys in the process, unlocking his car just before his car was in reach and rushing in locking the doors behind him.
Once he is safe he looked out and back the way he came, all he could see was the first two fountains and the man right in the middle back turned to both the light and the third fountain. The same way the executions used to look like. With the sight locked into his head he pulled out of the parking lot and sped away.
X.A.H Pov:
'He got my hand that bastard', I gunt and head back to my hide out.
_-•The Next Day•-_
(Y/N)'s Pov:
"And then he ran at me like a fucking dog.." (Y/N) explained to Cody what happened the night before, trying not to be to graphical seeing as though he was still a rookie.
"Are you sure you should be here and not at home resting and recovering?", Cody looked at me with a very worried eye.
"I'll be fine kid, just be safe going home until we get him under wraps" (Y/N) said making sure Cody understood how dangerous it was.
Deciding to take a break from all of the work (Y/N) went home and started doing some extra paperwork that was put on hold because of the case he was put on.
_-•A Few Hours Later•-_
The sun had just got to the end of setting when there was a knock at (Y/N)'s door, pulling him from his work and forcing him out of his home office. He went to go see who it was, once opening the door he came face to face with nothing.
Looking around he found a box roughly packaged and looked almost about to combust, "I don't remember buying anything from ups", (Y/N) joked with himself. picking up the box he took it inside and placed it on the kitchen counter, making himself a mug of coffee he took the box cutter from the drawer and cut the tape off of the box.
Once the tape was off he opened the box and there was a plastic bag and a letter. Picking up the letter he read it carefully.
Letter:
'You've perked my interests little detective,
I've never been hurt doing what I do best, you even figured out my super easy riddle not even officers more experienced that you could figure it out.
Let me cut to the chase, I've killed every single officer that was put on my case, I like to call it the death touch case. I am usually able to get them in at least three days but I've been watching you for weeks, an you haven't shown your neck open yet.
I decided that if I can't get to you, I'll get to what's around you, just to break away the forces you have. I was nice enough to stop chasing you after you shot me but I was still angry. So of course I had to do something to punish you.
Look in the little bag and you will find something beautiful.
I'll love it when you cry,
X.A.H'
(Gore)
(Y/N) looked over at the bag skeptical and fearfully, soon enough opening the bag to a horrid smell an sight. In the bag were two circles of skin and blood, on the circles were eyebrows finely plucked. He threw the bag as far away from him as possible, a photo catching his eye. His aunt... With circles cut into the flesh and removed was cut off above her eyes, she had what looked like a bullet wound and several stabbed wholes in her chest...., She was now dead. (Y/N) felt himself start to lose his composure, a bit after he started uncontrollably sobbing and even threw up onto the tiles.
X.A.H's Pov:
'Pathetic', He chuckled to himself, 'Breaking him will be easy~'
