this one’s for the sequel to Patron Saints of Blissful Imperfection: playing the Game sucks most of the time but you do get fancy dresses and dances sometimes (also, that’s Gereon Alexius, the mage who tried to upend time at one point, he’s a friend now)

Inquisitor Adaar seems to have forgotten the entire room. Samson is thoroughly returning the favor. They have eyes only for each other.

Gereon remembers dancing with Livia, long ago. He had looked at her the way that Inquisitor Adaar now looks down at Samson. As if the rest of the world, all the intrigues and cares and fears, meant nothing at all.

“They do make a very fine couple, don’t they,” Gereon says.

“Yes,” the Grand Duchess says. She sounds as satisfied as a cat with a mouse in its paws. “They do.”

“I did not expect you to care so much,” Gereon says, looking sideways at her.

The Grand Duchess smiles. There is a touch of wistfulness to it and Gereon thinks that it is genuine. “I do care for the Inquisitor in my own way, Magister. No matter what else I may think of her, I do not wish to see her unhappy.”

In this moment, to Gereon’s eyes, it looks as if Inquisitor Adaar is truly happy. Her smile is real. The kiss she places on Samson’s hand when the dance is over is real. For once, there’s no mask. No Game. Only her.

Among all the little victories tonight, Gereon considers this the greatest.

I like to imagine that a shrimpmer Yuu would be a Pacific cleaner shrimp, which are the ones most often found around morays. They're a bright red with a singular white stripe down their back with very long antennas:

I think that for the babies, the easiest route to take is either a moray kid or a shrimp kid in either teal or red colors. We can imagine how a hybrid might work, but that requires more time that I don't have atm to write.

I think that the moray babies would be curious of their shrimp siblings, especially when they start mimicking their shrimp parent's mannerisms and “cleaning”. They think it's cute, and the moray siblings are a great practice for cleaning for the baby shrimps! Plus, that means less work for Yuu in the long run.

On the other hand, I think the shrimp babies are confused by their moray siblings' predatory instincts. Baby morays feed on mostly small raw fish and crustaceans (like shrimp) until they get more teeth in and are able to eat larger chunks of fish provided by their fathers. The shrimp siblings get weirded how seeing their siblings feed on their animal counterparts.

Though, they all get along and like to compare their colors to each other! Some of the morays are a deep red not typically associated with morays, while a few of the shrimps are a combination of teal and red, making them look a bit like a mosaic! And, of course, all of them glow when feeling strong emotions. Mostly happiness though, they're very spoiled and cherished.

This is why they love to clutch onto Yuu when they carry another batch of eggs. Their siblings glow whenever they rub Yuu's tummy and say hello! What a sweet sight that must be!

Kyle had noticed three new VERY loyal customers coming in and staying for the last couple of weeks. Sure sometimes a video went a bit viral and he had a sudden influx of customers, but those didn't usually stay.

He knew for a fact one of them was Soap, because the man had told him himself and didn't stop encouraging him since.

He also knew one of them had a huge praise kink, and the other was definitely a dom, from the comments they left. So, naturally, he held a raffle. Where one (or two) of his loyal customers could have a personal video chat with him for a set amount of money. And he maybe or maybe not rigged it so the eager dom could win.

All of that to say, he ended up having a very successful night. The dom asked him to suck a dildo (while pretending it was his) and call him sir. Kyle had been a bit hesitant at that, suspicious that it would be someone he knows. It didn't help that the other man refused to talk out loud, answering in the chat, and to show his face. But, he was paid to do it, and he was going to do an amazing job.

And he did. He sucked eagerly and called him sir as many times as he wanted. When he asked if he could touch himself, the man told him to do it with his underwear still on. (What he doesn't know is that Price was feeling guilty and didn't want to pay him to show his junk, not realizing his requests were already way over the line).

This customer ended up commenting even more on his posts and it was way too easy for Kyle to imagine a familiar and gruff voice saying those filthy things to him.

Maybe it's his imagination, maybe he's just way too horny for his captain, but he swears he can see Price go still every time he calls him sir with a certain tone.

So he keeps doing it, until he is absolutely certain that the man that keeps paying him more and more to send him personal videos is his own captain. Pervert.

But he loves it. If only he would be as bold to make a move on him directly. He keeps hinting at him that he knows, that he wants him just as much as he does. But Price doesn't budge.

Kyle knows he usually waits for the other to make a move, that's just how he likes it. He likes to be desired and pursued. But hard times demands hard decisions. With his mind made up, Kyle invites Price to the bar. Just the two of them, with no one to spy or start rumors. Kyle only orders a virgin drink and doesn't wait for Price to finish his beer. He starts to flirt with him, touching his leg with his foot under the table.

Price looks receptive, even flirts back, but he still doesn't get close to Kyle. So he pushes further, sits beside him, puts his hand on Price's thigh. And god is he sexy with his cheeks reddened like that. Unable to hold it it any further, Kyle dove in for a kiss.

He was stopped, Price looking at him with a lot of surprise. ''you're drunk.'' he says confidently, and Kyle can only scoff.

''I don't have a single drop of alcohol in me, sir.'' He's allowed to stay close to him, his hands on his shoulders and chest.

''Then why?... I thought you and MacTavish...'' How can a man be so oblivious? Actually, no. In his defense, Soap and him are very close.

''It's not like that, we're just buddies.'' Kyle reassures him, but Price keeps his conflicted expression. ''I want you, you want me, I don't see the problem'' he adds.

''I'm not your type, I know it. I don't want a 'buddy' thing like you have with Soap. And.. We can't have that" clearly seeing that they were opting for talking rather than making out like teenagers, Kyle sat a bit straighter.

''And who are you to decide who is or isn't my type? I want to date you, we can keep it secret.'' Price still looked guilty.

''I'm not who you think I am...''

''You are! I know you, I know you're subscribed to my OnlyFans and I know you're a pervert, I like that about you. '' Price's face went totally white, and Kyle immediately tried to change it. ''I love a lot of things about you! You're caring, loyal, strict... You're so nervous sometimes and so stupid for hiding your feelings, but I love it. I love you...''

This is not how he imagined things to go, and he was suddenly just as nervous as Price. He thought they'd be making out, Price would fuck him and they'd admit each other's feelings in the heat of the moment. But now that he was in the moment, he understood how unrealistic that was of him. He can't start a relationship like that. And maybe Price was right, maybe they really shouldn't start anything...

''Kyle, you understand that this puts my whole career on the line...''

His eyes suddenly started to sting, his face was warm with embarrassment. Of course Price would prefer to be just another customer, of course he doesn't want to put his rank on the line.

''You just... You knew all this time? God Kyle, you can't just admit all of that suddenly... '' Price also sounded hurt, and Kyle couldn't look at him in the eyes.

They stayed in silence for a good minute, Kyle breathing deeply to avoid any more embarrassment, Price thinking and looking at him once in a while. Until he suggested they go back to base. He drove them back, Kyle didn't say a word more. Not even a goodnight when he went to his barrack.

This is why I can't write fics, it was supposed to be hot and steamy but it ended with ansgt.

For your conscience, they made up a week after and started dating. It's just that with my headcanons unless Price snaps he needs a lot of time to think things through.

Also Kyle doesn't have a lot of experience with relationship, part of the reason he doesn't like to do the first move. (just doesn't know how) and I also headcanon that he has some rejection dysphoria and took that night very badly.
