It apparently had a range for Lucy’s Dad to shoot in, and Pico wanted to give it a try before anyone else had gotten up, except he neglected to account for the groups resident night owl it seemed. As Pico ate his breakfast, he watched as a particularly tired blue headed singer clung to the rail of the stairs to not fall over as he made his way down and then hobbled into the kitchen across from the dinning room, Keith must have stayed up all night making a song in the family's studio to look that tired. Pico heard a whine come from the kitchen and furrowed his brows, swallowing the bite of cereal in his mouth before calling out to the other.

“Mornin Babe- Are you good in there?”

“Beeeeep bopskedop...”

“...You left your tablet upstairs didn’t you? None of us know your language like skid and pump...”

“ whiiiine Bop beep booooo.......”

“I’m comin i’m comin.”

Pico groans as he stands from the chair, the dino themed pjs Lucy bought for him were comfy and oversized, sagging as he walked. He stood in the kitchen door and looked out over the room to see what the issue with Keith was, and then promptly froze when he spots the issue his boyfriend was whining about.

Keith was tiredly glaring up at the bright box of cereal on the fridge, both him and Pico ate frosted flakes all the time, and usually all the cereals were kept on the counter next to the fridge instead of on it- but Pico must have put it up there by habit...Keith was to short to reach it- and living in a house with tall people meant that they didn’t have a stool. Which really sucked when you were tired and to short with no means of retrieving your food without climbing on the counter like an animal in your girlfriends big fancy house...

Instead of Helping when Keith looked back at him for assistance, Pico snorted, and then quickly burst out laughing. A playful grin rested wide on his face as he walked up to Keith.

“C’mon shortstuff, you can reach that.”

Keith stiffened, but Pico didn’t seem to notice when a frown tugged at his blue-haired partner’s lips. He did glare at Pico over his shoulder, conveying some message of ‘no i cant fucking help me-’. “Beep ba boop skidop-”

“Keith seriously- I know your little and all but this is a new level- a shorter level.”

While Pico cracked up laughing at his own joke he did actually start to reach up on the fridge and pull off the bright cereal box, missing the way his partner actually frowned at his words. Oh, but he wasn’t done yet- Just as Keith reached for the box in his hands he lifted it up, high above his head and over Keith’s, shaking it slightly. Continueing to laugh as Keith instinctually jumped for the box.

“Look its lower now- jump, you got it little guy-....Keith?”

Okay now- now he definitely noticed when Keith stopped. The shorter male was staring down at his feet, unmoving. Pico quietly stared down and slowly lowered the box back to the counter with a concerned tone taking over his voice hesitantly as he spoke again, this time much softer.

“K-..Keith...?”

“...Hic...sniff....”

“Keith, holy shit- are you crying...?”

He couldn’t do much as the rapper ducked under his arm and made a bolt for the kitchen door- though Keith didn’t make it far as he collided with someone- much taller than Pico. Their pjs were a pastel pink with red accents- looking up through the water in his eyes Keith could barely make out the annoyed and tired face of Senpai.

“What’s going on in- Oof--!! What-...K-keith?!"

Senpai was quick to kneel down to the other’s level, and Pico stood frozen as he watched him scoop the crying adult into his arms as if Keith were no more than a kid.

"What’s wrong-...w-what happened-?"

The usually, dickish nature the other held for Pico and Keith was rarely put out- it was habit for him to be a bit self obsessed at times, but right now he looked like a whole new person, tucking Keith’s head into his shoulder with his hand and running his fingers through the sea-like locks as the other sobbed on his shirt, no doubt soaking it in tears. The commotion seemed to have stirred multiple people, as if on queue, summoning Lucy to the crowd in the kitchen door. She looks around at her three boyfriends, all while in similar places attire, and takes but a moment to process before sighing heavily.

She leans over and brushes a few bangs from his face as she kisses Keith a bit on the forehead before leaning back. “Sen could you please take Keith to the room- I believe he’s been up all night and is having a tough time."

Sen blinks and looks down at her, opening his mouth and getting ready to either argue or accuse the other for not having a better work/life balance, but the look Lucy gave him silenced him with a quiet sigh. Nodding carefully, he murmurs a few words of reassurance and turns with Keith still held tightly in his arms, carrying the short male back to their shared bedroom.

Meanwhile, Lucy turns to look at Pico, who looks absolutely devastated. She could see that clearly he didn't mean to make the other cry- she looked at the cereal in his hand and gently approached him, frowning as he flinched when she reached out to pull the brightly colored box of cereal from the other's hand. As she walks back over to the fridge she starts talking, her voice soft and melodic as normal.

"...he doesn't like his height being mentioned."

Pico blinks, staring at her for a moment and watching her put the box back in it's rightful place on the counter, low enough so everyone could reach it.

"B..but you've talk about it before-"

"We comforted him after- or even during. You don't have to avoid calling him short...but he doesn't appreciate it if you don't give the proper attention afterwards."

"..."

"You should go say sorry when your ready."

She leans back and smiles at him before heading out of the kitchen no doubt towards the bathroom to spruce up for the day. Pico looked down at his hand still empty, holding nothing on the counter. A sorrowed glance cast downwards at his feet and he breaths a little before exiting the kitchen himself and heading for their bedroom. He had an apology to make.

He didn't know, but that's no excuse to act like a jerk. He forgot somtimes that Keith went through the same childhood as him...from now on he can try to be more sensitive about that.

I ignored all responsibilities this week in favor of binge watching Schitts Creek and I have some thoughts:

I thought I would hate this because I generally don't like shows about terrible people reveling in their terrible-ness (looking at you Its Alway Sunny). And make no mistake, at the beginning of this show they are all AWFUL people. But their humor and good will won me over quickly and by the end of episode 3 I was a true believer

Johnny Rose is a man who's family drifted apart and he and no idea how it happened. All he wants at the beginning of this show is for his family to be close and support each other instead of this 'everyone for themselves' mindset they had somehow fallen into. Eventually they do and he couldn't be happier. Johnny tries hard at everything he does and accepts how far he's fallen. It takes him awhile, but soon enough he's back at it, working so hard and rediscovering how much he missed working at something from the ground up

I would die for Moira Rose. And she would let me do it and thank me before hand in EXA-ggera-TED TOneS and wearing a shiny black and white outfit. Her way of speaking and many wigs makes me smile in any situation. She's more than a little vain and narcissistic, but she cares so much about all the people around her. At the beginning there's nothing she wants more than to get out of Schitt's Creek and never come back, but by the end she realises just how amazing the people around her are and their many strengths. Throughout this series she you see her all encompassing love and acceptance of her children, her true commitment to Johnny as her husband but never letting her dreams and ambitions take a back seat. She branches out creatively with Crows, the Jazzy Gals, and Cabaret and discovers that she isnt just a one trick soap opera pony, but is a truly talented and capable individual.

Were talking about David and Patrick now, beacuse I cant wait another second and because never have I loved a cannom queer couple more (I'm sorry Alana and Margot! I swore I would never stray). Just, damn that was some fine writing. At no point do the writers use them as a cheap stereotype or token gay couple, but one of the main romances of the show with a complex relationship with all its ups and downs. David starts off a whiny man-child whose parents have fixed everything for him. But by the end through his relationship with Patrick, Stevie, and opening his own business, David has discovered he is inventive, capable, and smart individual. He can succeed on his own without his parents money. His friendship with Stevie is iconic and his relationship with Patrick is tooth rottingly sweet. Patrick is a grounded and loving partner to David, endorsing of almost all David's quirks with an eye on how much is too much, so David never crashes. What legends.

Alexis, not going to lie, got on my nerves the most at the beginning. Her obliviousness and self-obsession grated in a way that felt like nails on a chalkboard. But the more you watch her grow and the significant steps she takes to improve herslef and expand her horizons, the more you root for her to win it all. From the beginning, despite everything she does on purpose, she has a genuine and incredible warmth about her that makes her personality bright. The writers also made tough but satisfying choices with her love life. All of her major relationships don't follow rom-com formulas and there are some complex discussions about sex and feelings. From her sudden horrifying adventure stories to her sweet habit of booping people on the nose, you will always want to cheer Alexis on.

Stevie. Just...wow. Watching her story arc over the seasons is one of the most compelling things about the show. Stevie starts out a funny but directionless slacker with no clear goals. But as the show progresses she actively explores different career options and partners trying to find out what she really wants out of life. This echoes so profoundly with me I cried with her a few times. From her dry deadpan humor to her willingness to help others make her such a compelling and relatable character.

This show is amazing and now I'm not surprised it won so many Emmys
