I know you don't like answering these sort of asks lol, but i just gotta say that the last day's twitter discourse really proved that Mlvns really do not get El's character or her arc. That discourse was really... something. And some of the responses like 'El doesn't need hobbies' or 'her hobby is Mike' or 'El does save the world everytime ofc she doesn't have hobbies'. Like... idk what to say, lol. It's like they completely miss El's arc and development over the course of the show and the necessity for her to come to her own as a PERSON and a girl rather than ''superhero'' who tries to save the world everytime, and the fact that they are so AGAINST El having a deserved development? Because I think they deep down realize that El getting development would mean that Mlvn is bones (which... yeah, it is bones) it's like they don't even like El as a character so it is just rather more IRONIC when they blame us for supposedly disliking El's character.

honestly I don’t mind these kinds of asks? I just don’t spend any real time on ST Twitter / Reddit outside of stuff people bring here, so I don’t feel qualified to comment on those corners of the fandom—and everything I see makes me even more keenly aware that they are fighting less for any canonical idea of stranger things, but this…strange in-group who act self-righteous while being loudly wrong about a crumbling ship.

I don’t find any amusement in arguing over it, the same way I would get no thrill in trying to win an argument with someone who thinks the earth is flat—they are so deep in their group + the idea of something rather than the truth of it that me trying to pull any evidence to the contrary will just be met with vitriol and nonsensical arguments, so…I just let them be lmao.

I am now thinking about the fact that since Carla Ymir (my version of Eren and Historia’s eldest daughter) has no grandparents since Eren’s parents are dead and Historia’s parents are dead pieces of shit, the parents of Eren and Historia’s friends end up becoming her grandparents. She now has Connie’s mom (who is human again), Sasha’s parents, Marco’s parents (I headcanon them as still being alive), and Jean’s parents as honorary grandparents.

Most people who follow me have probably figured out I’m not a huge shipper, as in I don’t have many ships, and sometimes find a lot of shippers annoying.

And yet, the way people (het shippers) act like fujoshis are mega misogynistic or that misogyny is their trait is so funny and untrue. Sometimes I see fujos say x female character is boring or undeveloped or that the romance between her and male character x is bad, so they don’t care about it. Like okay. Sometimes they ship m/m ship that is also poorly developed or uninteresting so they’re a bit hypocritical but they aren’t as misogynistic as het shippers make them out to be.

Now het shippers themselves on the other hand. You only need to look at sasusaku/narusaku/naruhina/sasukarin, ichiruki/ichime, eremika/erehisu fights and you see some real shocking misogyny. Like all the sexual degrading, misogynist insults, the body comparisons, the comparisons on which one would make a better tradwife, the slut shaming, they have all of that. All the nastiest shit I have seen come from het shippers’ shipping wars.

I’m not saying fujoshis can’t be bad. But it’s so dishonest when het shippers point fingers at them. They are usually worse, and on top of misogyny they are also homophobic.

Second row is my three Eren stickers: teen Eren says “I’ll slaughter you!”, adult Eren says “If you don’t fight, you can’t win. Fight. Fight.”, and titan Eren says “Not a single one left from this world!” There’s also a mousepad and four file sleeves a co-worker gave me when she heard I like SNK - including one from the Final Exhibition.

The fourth row is a crossover merchandising campaign with Sanrio (the Hello Kitty company). It’s pretty hilarious seeing the characters playing with kawaii animals in their Final Season appearances. When Reiner’s not contemplating suicide and Eren’s not committing genocide, they play with Hello Kitty. If you’re wondering why there are so many Erwin plushies, it was done in anticipation of his October birthday; but you could also find Eren and Levi.

Finally, the SNK ice cream. I found this in your typical supermarket, and it was definitely designed to appeal to EM fans. In each pack there’s a chance of drawing an ice cream stick with one of the Nine Titans on it.

i’m sorry it’s been so long!! i struggle a lot with writing and energy nowadays, so though I am planning to return here, please expect this blog to remain low activity at least for the time being - but i’m gonna try and be around much more than i have been!

honestly, though? a big reason i didn’t write here for a long time is honestly, uh. aot’s fandom. while it’s probably predictable for a series with such heavy themes and a polarizing ending, there’s a large portion of this fandom that’s incredibly aggressive, and I was honestly afraid of what people might think of me both for writing for this series and for my opinions regarding basically. everything in canon. whoops...

But since my problems are largely more with the fandom than the series itself (with a few exceptions), I thought I’d give it another shot. I’ve updated my rules so I highly recommend re-reading them - in particular I want to emphasize that I write Historia as a villainous character by the final arc, and while I do sympathize with her as a person, I do not think her actions are in any way excusable. This will likely be reflected in my writing, but to make it clear - I ultimately believe that the Rumbling was a horrific and unjustified genocide.

I also want to emphasize that this is going to be a ship hate-free blog!! erehisus, eremikas, you’re both welcome here, etc! as long as you refrain from harassing others, and don’t make unfair assumptions about each other, i’m happy.

generally, i think it’s super important to note for this blog especially that ones opinions on fiction =/= their opinions on reality. I don’t agree with the way AOT presented all of it’s themes, but I think there’s still good to be found in the series, thus me writing here. as long as you can get behind that, you’re more than welcome here! <3

eremika: I actually have two version of the eremika sims as well as two versions of their kids (two girls and one boy each time). personalities and backstories change so you’ll have to be specific about them ahaha! one is modern and one is a cabin au.

jeanpiku: i adore this ship so I made them into sims. as well as their kids. I won’t reveal too much because this is actually a spoiler for my fic, a losing game.

jikupiku: yes I have two versions of pieck. zeke and pieck have twin daughters and a son. they’re a hippie, outdoorsy family. and I actually adore them so very much.

aruani: because I had to of course! I always hc’d that armin and annie would stop at one child so they have a young son who they pour all their time into. he takes after his dad in personality but favors his mom in looks.

yumihisu: because of course I had to. thanks to cutting edge science they were able produce a daughter of their own. they live in a nice house with a cat, their daughter, and historia’s daughter from a teenage pregnancy which leads to the next one.

erehisu: now disclaimer is that I don’t ship erehisu in the slightest. I actually made a daughter for my friend who really loves the ship and I decided to give the backstory that eren and historia dated in high school and lost their virginities to each other. they broke up when historia slowly realized that she’s a lesbian and eren had recently met mikasa so they broke up. historia found out she was pregnant the summer before college and decided not to say anything to eren until years later when this kid is babysitting eremika’s kids.

if you want the kid names, what they look like, personalities, and backstory feel free to ask! I am thinking of making jeankasa kids as well!

Can I just say the general AOT fandom is pretty boring, they got basic bitch taste in ships. I love that EreHisu is getting hype from anime onlys now, but LeviH*n just reeks of pure bickering sibling energy. If Levi was the main instead of Eren, more people would be forced to acknowledge the reality that Mikasa is the one Levi is in love with though there still would be naysayers. :/

With the whole Ackerman thing isayama just stigmatised shipping Levi with the most shippable person on the series and if aot fails it’s just karma getting back to isayama I guess 🤡🤷‍♀️ I wish we never knew their age and their pointless ancestry that connects to their powers.

How I think some of my favorite AOT couples deal with cooking.

Niccosasha: Niccolo does all of the cooking which makes Sasha happy because she loves the gourmet meals he makes because of the culinary training he got before he had to join the army of Marley.

Aruani: Annie does all the cooking and to the surprise of everyone she is a pretty good chef because she had to learn how to cook at a young age to feed herself and her father.

Erehisu: both cook in the kitchen together and are both really good at cooking because Eren learned how to cook from his mom and Historia learned how to cook from Frieda.

Jeanpiku: both can make basic stuff like sandwiches, eggs and bacon, some soups that don’t take too much effort, but anything beyond that is too much work for them.

Rivamika: neither one of them can even boil water, in fact both of them are banned from even stepping foot into a kitchen because whenever they do it ends up looking like a war zone.

Onyahan: both love experiment in the kitchen, results will vary, with this pair you will either get an exciting new dish that is unlike anything else you ever tried or you will get a culinary disaster, there is no in between.

Reibert: usually ends up ordering something that sounds good from a delivery service that is a lot like their universe’s version of Uber Eats/Door Dash.

Do you like Eremika? I do acknowledge that isayama very much did intended that ship, but i think them as a romantic pair is pretty bland and I personally don’t get the appeal. (But I feel like alot of girls self insert on mikasa and wish to get the guy) Eremika is no way near as bad as NH or SS though of coarse, at least Eren and Mikasa do view each other as someone important.

And just saying while i don’t hate these ships I’m not an eremin shipper or an erehisu shipper either. When it comes to Snk I honestly enjoyed yumihisu and eruri the most, though I’m not like a crazy shipper for them either.

I know this ask is mainly about EM but I will also address EA, EH and some of my issues about the last part of the story. Even with the possibility that one angry snk anon will come yelling at me in my inbox.

I didn't analyze snk the way I did Naruto, and honestly after the serumbowl I lost some interest in the story. I found the Marley arc exhausting despite the fact the Reiner stuff was interesting and it didn't help you had to wait one month to get another chapter that was just another "Gabi and co." fest. But it's only later I started to think it was truly a pretty bad move to introduce 15 new characters in the last part of the story. People followed the main cast, you should focus on giving the main cast satisfying conclusions instead of introducing a bunch of new characters. He already had Marley characters people were interested in and cared about, Reiner, Bertolt and Annie. But he let down all of them.

I never thought EM was particularly romantic on Eren's side, my idea was if it happens it's because he's used to her being around and as a not very romantic guy he'll settle for her. I don’t at all relate to the EM shippers who compare them to Jack/Rose from Titanic (why?) but I didn’t mind it. So I tried to make peace with it after the ending, and find good sides to it. But the more I looked at the last arc the more issues I found. I see sometimes people say Mikasa's character was ruined, but in my opinion Eren, Armin, Reiner, Historia and Annie got worse endings. Mikasa was basically the same she had always been, good in battles but very Eren centric character with no goals of her own. Meanwhile characters like Armin just declined if you compare their writing to how they were written pre-timeskip.

As you said EM is better than SS/NH because the latter two barely have any connection. The issue with EM is they admittedly have no development. While Eren always cared about Mikasa and Armin and tried to protect them from harm since they were his friends, Eren and Mikasa's relationship didn't develop much. The only development they have on Eren's side is that Eren isn't as harsh towards Mikasa after joining the survey corps. The only chapters were you can argue for romance are 50, 123 and 139. Chapter 50 can seem romantic because Mikasa tries to kiss Eren but Eren dodges it and tells her he will wrap the scarf around her. But the scarf represents the moment when Eren invited Mikasa to join his family. As for chapter 123, it can seem as romantic, but the problem is it should have had build up to justify it as a romantic moment. As in the ship should have developed from Eren’s side already before so this could be seen as believable from a romantic point of view. Some people say Eren asked Mikasa what he did to see if the future can be changed, and this explanation makes much more sense, especially considering he was clearly focused on the people he’d soon kill and was crying because of that before Mikasa called out to him.

As for EA and EH, I think it’s possible Isayama is a multishipper. We know he has said seeing doujinshis of his series makes him happy, but we don’t know what doujinshis. There seems to have been funny references to some ships couple times:

Lol. I find this rude to the Eremin shippers. Isayama didn’t develop Aru/ani AT ALL and then just ripped off his old fake preview to make this awkward “ship moment”? Isayama also mentioned in a Q&A that other cadets think Eren and Armin are “too close”.

There’s also the material where Historia said she will go to the snk exhibition with her boyfriend (and she specifically said boyfriend) and then she is seen with Eren in the merry-go-round. It’s just oddly shippy. I’m not arguing for how romantic these ships are in the manga, I’m just saying Isayama has a weird way of giving this type of ship tease.

Anyway the ending is disappointing in many ways and I find it disappointing how EM shippers defend it so much. Isayama talked so much about how he wanted to give Mikasa something else than just have her revolve around Eren, yet he didn’t do that in the end. Even in the last arc she is revolving around Eren. Historia was completely sidelined and her arc had no conclusion no matter what people claim. Even when Isayama claimed she is one of the needed characters and put on her on the same level as Eren and Armin in an interview. Eren’s character too was just retconned.

I said it even before I criticised EM that EM/SS both attract shippers who want their fave to get what they want, and that it bothered me. So I completely understand what you’re saying. EM does look nice in fanarts, but the conclusion is less than satisfactory. I try to not get my hopes up even if some people are hyping up a possible anime only ending.

Erehisu and TamaHaru are both ships I like significantly better in the manga because it’s actually given solid focus, time to build chemistry, and is overall fleshed out more because things weren’t cut or added in to the anime adaptions that weakened the relationships in favour of something else (for EH that was the actual, good and understandably so endgame ship, for TH things were added or cut just for the sake of comedy 😭💔 which I’m far more annoyed over actually as a romance lover - edit: but quite honestly the show wouldn’t have made me personally start shipping them until the 50s chapters because I don’t really like one-sides romances anyway)
