so i think most people who are anti foah on here (including any discussion of noah and finn at all, even their work together) are not worried about us speculating on like whether there's feelings involved - because you can be attracted to someone or acknowledge their beauty without feelings - but rather they think that discussing them at all is almost like... i dont know, gossiping? or talking behind someone's back?

like, especially portraying a romantic relationship on screen, it would be very childish to still act disgusted by a co-star just to stop people around you saying 'ooooooh'... wouldnt it? unless you are genuinely repulsed by someone, once you become an adult you typically dont act that way. you get to an age where you can straight up say 'yeah, that person is beautiful' or attractive or what not, and you can say that about friends too, without anyone thinking you are falling in love with them.

i really remember the harry potter cast doing this and it was such a joy to see them grow up and acknowledge these things rather than just blush in interviews and pretend they never had crushes on each other.

or if you genuinely are repulsed by someone, you would deal with that in a mature way. especially if you were working professionally - i mean youre doing a job, but that still involves emotion and both disgust and attraction could be part of that.

i know the duffers hammed up the kiss between finn and millie, but hopefully that was cos they were kids (i didnt love that they did that, though we will never have full context), and hopefully for byler everything would be treated with respect. that also doesnt mean you totally lose the excitement and juice - love and attraction turns people of all ages into puddles - but rather that it is also still just a scene, and treated like any other scene, in service to the story.

for example, why is it taboo for an actor to be totally into a love scene, but not totally excited and joyful doing a scene on a ferris wheel or biking down a hill? why is there shame in the natural emotive expression, even when performing? and why is there shame in us discussing or anticipating that? we are essentially being spectators of the joy of human emotion - its why people love stories. stories are designed to make us think these people are real. why are characters, intrinsically, any different to real people in terms of the way we interact with them?

is it because they cannot be touched by us and we cant hurt them?

yes. but that leads us back to the nuance of shipping two irl actors and discussing human behaviour. this blog is unlikely to reach finn or noah. we are discussing them in relation to mike and will, not paparazzi'ing them outside their homes. this isn't a tabloid. its a tumblr blog.

maybe there are some people who edit together miniscule interview moments and invent fictions between real people. but again thats very different to just picking up on human behaviour and discussing it, as two people would over dinner, when they realise their mutual friends have got a thing going on.

i also think noah being gay brings a lot of discomfort to people because there is not even that plausible deniability of he and finn just doing a job. but like, he might he enjoy it? but so might finn? if they do, why is that bad? why can't they be professional AND enjoy it? just like they would filming a scene biking down a hill?

so my point is that people who are anti foah seem to be anti any discussion of finn and noah, even re: their work. they somehow can't separate this kind of discussion about creating art and being human from the juvenile idea of harassing two actors, despite the time-honoured human enjoyment of talking about other humans.

and re: finn's sexuality, the most common poll answer is... i dont have enough info to speculate. WELL DUH. thats why its called speculation? if you had enough info, you would have a solid answer lmao! its like byler evidence all over again. thousands of pages of tiny things that could be evidence, when all you need is one solid reason why they'll have a romance, like the way they look at each other, or, i dont know, the narrative itself?

When Kento got home he found you on the couch with your St. Bernard, Smalls, curled up next to you. You had been sipping a cup of tea while some Beethoven played from his old record player. 

“Kento?” you called out.

“Yeah,” he replied. 

He closed the door behind him and made his way over to you.

You smiled as you heard him approach you, setting your tea on the coffee table and standing up to properly greet him. He lowered his head to kiss you, which you swiftly deepened. 

After some time the two of you reluctantly pulled away from each other.

“How was work?” you asked.

“Fine. How about you?”

You sighed and leaned against him. “Another day of modeling beautiful clothes? It was pure torture. 

He chortled under his breath and wrapped you tighter in his arms.

“Kento? Can you zip this up?”

Kento finished adjusting the cufflinks on his suit and made his way over to you. You turned away, allowing him to zip up the back of your evening gown. Your face heated up when you felt his knuckle brush against the small of your back as he grabbed the zipper. Once the dress was secure you turned around so he could fully see you.

“How do I look?” you checked. 

“Beautiful.”

After the two of you said your goodbyes to Smalls you made your way out of your apartment building to the opera. Kento had secured a pair of tickets months in advance. At your insistence the two of you decided to walk. You held onto his arm as the two of you made your way to the opera house. On the way you passed an array of luxury department stores and Kento halted in front of a particularly special one.

“What is it?” you asked.

“I’m just admiring this model. Her picture’s in the store window.”

“Oh yeah?” you jested. “Should I be jealous?”

“Maybe,” he retorted. “Especially if she could get me a discount.”

You pecked his cheek. “As much as I love playing this game with you we don’t want to miss the 

opening curtain.”

Once the two of you had arrived you were stopped at the door by a photographer. 

“(Name)! Can I get a picture for the society pages?” 

More voices approached you. “(Name)? The model?”

“I saw your billboard downtown today! You’re even more beautiful in person!”

Security came forward and waved the onlookers away. Then you and Kento were escorted by an usher to your seats.

“Are you alright?” you asked.

Kento rested his hand on your knee. “Of course. Why?”

“Well, that was a bit of fanfare downstairs. I think I caused a scene.”

You reached out and ran your finger over the glass of his Rolex.

“People are starting to recognize you. It’s nothing to be embarrassed over.”

He took your hand in his and gave it a gentle squeeze. 

“I’m so proud of you.”

You lifted his hand to your lips and kissed his fingers. 

The house lights dimmed and the audience applauded. 

“Will you tell me if one of the singers trips?” you whispered.

I feel like the GA sees this scene as like a confirmation of will's sexuality, but honestly I feel like it is actually a confirmation of mike's.

As confirmed by Finn Wolfhard, we know that mike is unaware of will's feelings for him and/or will being gay. So to me it feels very odd that mike would just acuse will of not liking girls. Especially since he knows that many girls have had crushes on him, will even danced with a girl at the snow ball (mike was visibly upset by this).

Why would mike say that out of nowhere?

Lets remind ourselves of the context of this scene. Before this happens they are playing dnd. This is a sample of a transcript from 8flix idk if its real or not but the lines are accurate so we'll just go off of that ig.

Lucas and Mike put down their D&D BOOKS and rush to the phone. [WILL (CONT'D)] (breaks character) What, no!Mike gets to the phone first and answers. [MIKE] El? (beat, then disappointed) No. Sorry, not interested. (hangs up) Telemarketers.

Look at whats written in green. Mike says El? No sorry, not interested (not interested in what mike... what are you saying) and then TELEMARKETERS (Could this be forshadowing! Could it be forshadowing the Joyce's telemarketing job that stops him from being able to call will? Hmmmmmm....)

[LUCAS] Maybe we should just call them? [MIKE] We can do that? [LUCAS] I think so. [MIKE] Yeah, but what would we say?

Notice how Mike ALWAYSSS asks people what to say to el when they are having a conflict. Mike just cant have heart to hearts with her without someone else prompting him on what to say. I feel like he does this because he needs to have validation that he is doing the right thing (or the straight thing...). Like he needs to know that the way he is talking to el is how other people who have girlfriends talk to their girlfriends.

[WILL (CONT'D)] See? You don’t even know and you don’t even care and obviously he doesn’t either and I don’t blame him. You’re destroying everything, and for what? So you can swat spit with some stupid girl? [MIKE] El’s not stupid! It’s not my fault you don’t like girls.

Mike. Honey. Come on. There was no hinting in any of the past scenes that mike thought will was gay or that will was upset because mike is straight and he is gay, this is entirely mike turning this into a straight vs gay thing.

I think that mike takes what will said and interprets it as an attack on his sexuality, and he gets worried that will is onto him. He says "some stupid girl" which makes mike feel vunerable. This causes him to lash out and attack will to take the attention off of himself, so instead of his sexuality being questioned its will who is being accused.

So I dont think that this scene is about the GA learning about Wills sexuality. I think the duffers are making it seem like that but really, underneath the surface, the scene is about mike revealing hints about his sexuality.

Hi! I just wanted to say that this week I chose to read some of the fics you have up in AO3 ( and by some of them I mean a lot) and I'm obsessed with your Sebchal Old Guard AU.

I haven't watched the movie yet, but I've been tempted in the past and your writing was the last reason I needed to do it.

That scene when Sebastian has apparently died and Charles holds him while praying in Latin, and he is so devastated about losing Sebastian because immortality is only a gift if Charles gets to share it with him.

That was..WOW..Yeah. No words. Tens across the board.

Those dreams of Lewis and Nico. The ending in Suzuka when Charles is wearing red again. People choosing to spend immortality together just really gets to me, I guess.

That fic really did something for me, and I have to thank you for it.

PS: your Nico/Jenson Soulmate fic made me see why people ship those two.

my sebchal old guard au is my favourite thing ive ever written and i love it so much and people dont often go for it, though i do have some wonderful asks in my inbox that im saving for a rainy day and i just. thank you for coming here to tell me this and i hope you watched the movie because its MASTERFUL. i put so much into that fic, for example i tried to figure out how to make two white boys be joe and nicky without being insensitive or appropriative about race, and how not to apply the fundamentality of joe's loveliness of being an arab man (gentle and kind and a poet in his soul) to this german dude. that one kept me up for a while, so i decided not to mirror it perfectly but to apply seb and charles' personalities into the context, except adapting the other way around. it was a challenge to write, because i wove so much little ideas and nods to other people in there, not the least lewis and nico as andy and quynh, and then in the end i just really wanted them to come a full circle and somehow tie it in with f1. i always do this in my au's, give a little nod to f1 somehow, just to show my love for it. anyways, thank you so much for reading it and just. i love that you liked it.

oh god the princess cake soulmate fic - i saw the prompt and i couldnt resist! it turned out to be a prompt by a tumblr friend so that worked out even better. i love nico and i love him with jenson and i need to get back to writing him some more soon tbh. he is such a complicated and interesting character and he has twists and turns and i just love him insanely much. I'm so over the whole " books of buildup" regurgitated excuse from elriels, it's a broken record at this point, there is so much evidence that ACOMAF leaned Moriel, ACOWAR ends with a promising outlook for Elucien, and honestly, ACOSAF, if Azriel wasn't looking at Mor with so much heat, I could maybe give it to them, but, sorry, no. Azriel being hung up on Mor all throughout the series is a huge red flag. The way elriels act like Azriel wouldn't drop Elain like a bag of potato's for Mor really shows you we must have been reading a different series. I'm not saying there was absolutely nothing, but the way SJM wrote it, just fell so flat, it's missing all the components that makeup her endgame formula, and again; MOR, MOR MOR MOR MOR MOR MOR MOR MOR. Even though Mor doesn't feel the same way,HE does feel things for her and it was telling in ACOSF when he wouldn't give Rhys an answer, like, IRL, if you crushing on a guy or dating a guy who wasn't over his ex, you'd just *bE oK* with that. Please. SJM having Az rebound on Elain and Elain with Az to get over Grayson make sense for their arc, but doesn't mean it's endgame. Oh and as far as we know; Elain was still in love with Grayson in ACOMAF, ACOWAR and Feyre notes her sadness over Grayson in ACOSAF, sorry, but two people still longing for another is NOT A GOOD SIGN, no matter how you spin it in a SJM book. That's not how she writes endgame couples. But given how much context I've seen them twist and misinterpret, it doesn't surprise me in the least they cant differiante what a red flag is in a book written by an author who uses adults themes to tell a story, it's like they can't grasp the purpose of Elriel, at all. When I see "why would SJM abandon Elriel after all this...ummm easy, there was never any real buildup to a true romance, y'all saw it for what y'all convinced yourselfs of it to be, they dont read between the lines, disregard a ton of context clues, or think critically when it comes to patterns and the kind of author SJM is (she to date favors mates) and interviews of her talking about Elain and Lucien and telling us in her own words, we can expect tension but growth and healing TOGETHER. It's funny how they conveniently forget that. I see why they try and stamp it out from existence for new readers but we have the receipts.

She has ended canon ships with on page kisses, sex and romance, and Elriels really think she won't let that almost kiss amount to nothing more if she wills it. If they were so confident in their ship, why do they bully, harass and attack anyone who disagree with them? They've bullied published authors, her best friends, her family, book community influencers, podcast hosts, made threats about her kids, e-mail BB NON STOP with threats, the receipts and videos all exist if you know where to look of their disgusting behavior. For a group so confident, they sure don't act like it.

With SJM, she tends to blur the lines when it comes to interactions between some of the characters so a lot of things look like something.

Lucien and Feyre had many scenes that could have strongly hinted at them being together. Nesta regularly wanted Azriel to train her instead, thought he was the prettiest of the three, and even imagined having a threesome with him.

In ACOMAF we found out Cassian slept with Mor and STILL thought about how absolutely perfect her face and soul were in ACOSF, we could easily use the multiple books of buildup for them too.

And the biggest example is the fact that Az has looked at Mor with longing, hunger and yearning for every single book he's been in.

Just because Elain and Az nearly kissed and they are physically into one another doesn't make their hints any more meaningful than the moments those other characters shared when they are still not proven as endgame.

If Feyre and Lucien ended up not together despite her feeling up his bare chest in ACOWAR and him stroking soothing lines down her back, if Mor looking at Azriel in a way Feyre couldn't decipher and him blushing and looking at her with hunger in ACOFAS didn't mean anything, if Cassian actually had sex with Mor yet now looks at her like a sister then there is currently nothing about E/riel that's proof of anything. They are simply two characters exploring an attraction and that could come to mean nothing in the end just as it did for so many other characters.

But that doesn't mean anyone had multiple books of buildup. It will only mean that if they end up together and as it stands, E/riel isn't looking good. Like you said, there are some very concerning red flags that exist for them that weren't there for others. Like the most raw and real thing we've seen E/riel discuss is her garden.

Where are the discussions about Graysen? Mor? Her being made? Her losing her father? His struggles with his heritage? Even Nesta had deeper conversations with Cassian before her book and 99% of their interactions were snarking.

more weird dreams

it's starting to fade now because i've waited too long to start writing it down, but i do remember some vague fragments. there was some scene at the beginning where i was being made to get into bed with a much older man and his wife but i was also disguised as his wife i think? but he kept touching me and i could tell he was naked under the covers and the other woman in the bed was gonna get up to go to the bathroom and leave us alone and i begged her to let me go with her and spent the whole night in the hallways outside the bathroom (also worth mentioning the bedroom was my parents room in my childhood home and the bathroom was placed in the exact way it was in my childhood home)

and then i was wandering in the snow down empty new jersey highways i've been lost on in other dreams (the port city i often dream about also made an appearance but i cant remember the context) and came to my high school except it looked different. i dont remember how he got there, but i wound up running into my first ex (the one who assaulted me) and he was the version of him i knew before we dated. he was funny and charming and after everything that had happened in the last part of the dream, i needed that comfort. he was so kind to me this time and i remember us walking outside together and him packing a snowball to throw at me and i stopped short and said "my mom cant see us together" because i knew her car was parked nearby and she was waiting to pick me up. he asked why not and i couldnt bring myself to say "because she knows you raped me" because i was so afraid of breaking the illusion that he was a good person.

then there was a third chapter where i was staying w my friend who i stay w a lot in real life except she lived in a big modern house instead of a college dorm and the whole front face of the house was windows and i was playing a lot of bg3 and looking out at the snow unsure of where anyone was. and her and her roommates kept phasing in and out and they were getting ready for some dress up event and i was just gonna be alone in the house and i started flashing through to another dream where i was in canada w my grandparents staying in a big treehouse in the woods and exploring a nearby swamp (neither of which exist on their property in real life lol) and i knew there were faries out there. i flashed back into the house dream and i had to pack to go home but as i started packing it quickly became my childhood bedroom and i was packing up my toys and i look outside into the snow and feel so so alone.

the whole dream felt so lonely and empty. like everybody was getting blown away with the snow. something in there about tainted memories. and the part with my ex is so particularly strange because i was trying to find him the other day to see if he's still alive and okay. despite everything he ever did ive always found it hard to think of him as a bad person and some part of me will always care about him because he used to be such a dear friend of mine. and even though i know i shouldnt i can sometimes justify what he did to me, i just know i probably wasnt the only one

i think the thing that really gets me is that i ran to him after my friend who was like a brother to me passed away from an overdose because i never got to articulate how much i loved him and i needed to give that love to somebody. and then he developed a drug problem. and its like he did so many horrible things to me but some part of me still wants to save him. weird.

idk if i have a name for this au or not yet but i have a lot of loose scrambled ideas and Vibes and various atmospheric scenes floating in my head

ive no idea if any of this is quality and all i know about league lore is what i can glean from wikis and one very enthustiastic infodumping friend

i also just, really like subtle monster shit. this person is a monster but oh, they could so easily be human.

ahhh this is all just very. slapped togethor thoughts its not super coherent apologies

so bare with me

im rly fascinated with tahm kench and i know im not the only one and i see a Lot of ppl who like to associate him with silco in some way- wether silco worships him, made a deal with him, whatever, a lot ppl seem to like playing with the idea and theyre valid

to my understanding tahm kench isnt exactly limited in what he can appear as- of course theres the squat and charming catfishalligator man in his jaunty little hat but to my understanding he can take on other appareances? idk i recall reading this but i cant recall where to save my life so like for the sake of this au we’ll just assume he Can appear human if he wants to 

we also know like nothing about silco’s childhood etc so im playing fast and loose

im never sure if im of the opinion that silco had shit parents or parents who tried their best but honestly its likely a little of column a a little of column b and im rambling too much and need to get to the point

in the context of this au sil’s mom had a mysterious but charming paramour who often made her promises of wealth and good fortune and one day he just sort of vanished from her life but not without leaving her pregnant

she successfully passed off the baby as her husband's by the sheer fortune that said baby seemed to resemble her and not her paramour in the least

paramour was, obvs a this point, tahm kench

my reasoning why for he did this in the first place is mostly that hes just fucking around for shiggles- theres other reasons but im a bit scatterbrained at the moment and words to explain are not coming to me so great

silco is largely the same as he is in canon- he’s not visibly inhuman in any way, and he doesnt act much different at all. though, i suppose, in the right light, teeth can look unnaturally sharp, eyes too solidly dark like nothing human should have, etc

but he’s prone to disassociative states and cravings for Meat ideally Very Fresh and Possibly Alive Meat and they’re worse when he’s in compromised emotional or physical states

his father left/died/whatever early on leaving him largely in the care of just his mother and while she did her best rumors inevitably spread of her weirdass half feral kid, his ill temper, his strange disposition, and the massive amount of meat he seems to require

stories that he was slowly eating her out of house and home

stories that he wouldnt stop even if the only flesh she had to provide was her own

eventually, she too was gone

i dont think sil actually hurt her or attacked her in any way, but one day it was just silco, alone, with no one else, and the rumor mill churns and youve got stories about some scrawny monster that killed and ate his own mother

he and vander do end up friends as in canon, i dont doubt b/c vander took pity on this weird guy with a bad, bad reputation but a relatively skittish (if bitey, hah) personality 

like i said a lot of this au is just sort of various scenes playing out in my head- sil ends up attacking people occasionally and its a bloody fucking mess every time

hes a conniving, sneaky little schemer and any outright deals anyone makes with him always seem to fall in his favour

he has his skills, and he’s useful, and in his own way he’s a loving and devoted friend

he is still the deeply driven revolutionary we have in canon- he loves his home and his people but he’s harsh and not afraid to spill blood

the drowning incident occurs more or less the same but vander comes out of it with a lot more than just his arm wound- silco bites, and as it turns out under life or death circumstances he can be a lot less human than he’s always seemed

i dont think he knows he’s tahm kench’s offspring until the drowning incident, having some kind of “conversation” hallucination with the river king while under and learning of his parentage

ironically the shimmer he takes for his eye is a blessing- shimmer works as an appetite suppressant and as he gets older there are way, way less incidents

jinx knows her dad is weird and so does everyone working under him but for the most part its not a problem, yes the boss is fucking scary they all know this its nothing new

i think shit gets Real odd tho post-death

im not sure silco can be properly killed, not in a way that sticks right

his body gets dumped in the river and that should be the end of it, but i think perhaps there are strange sightings for years to come, mysterious disappearances of people who wander the shores alone

im playing with this ball of idea clay and having great fun with it, others can play too if they wanna

Max Parish X Reader

Context: Your Max's girlfriend and partner on the force, and one day, something bad happens....

You and Max were on your usual route around the streets, you were the driver as you knew Max couldn't always be trusted. He would always try to pull over for a quicky with you, or play opera in the car and show off his skills doing donuts on the street, and pretty much being the playful man child he always was. So thankfully today, you were the one driving. "Come on babes, please?" "I said no Max" "Oh why not? It'll be fun!" "I know it will, but we're working, we cant stop in a nearby motel just because you cant control yourself" "I cant help it, you just look so sexy in your uniform" "Max you say I look sexy in everything" "Because it's true, and you never look sexier than when i-" "Ah ah! Dont even think about finishing that sentence Parish!"

He just smirked and sat back in the passengers seat, he knew why you were like this, there was a chance to impress your boss and get promotions for both you and Max. It was a chance for you to earn more money as you both decided you wanted to move in together. And in order to do that, you had to be on your best behaviour, and that meant less shenanigans with Max whilst on the job. "Look Max, I'm sorry alright. You know I love you, but I want to-" "I know babes dont worry, theres no need to say sorry. Theres just so many times i look at you and thank my lucky starts that I'm able to be with you" You smile just as you stop the car at a traffic light, and this is the small opportunity you take to lean over and give him a kiss. Suddenly out of nowhere, the police radio stars going off, you pick it up and answer it, to discover it's your boss, the chief of police. "Officer L/N, officer Parish, do you read?" "Yes sir we read you" "About 3 blocks away next to the old bank there's a robbery in progress, get over there and arrest them. Considered armed and dangerous" "You got it, on our way" you say before slamming the radio back down and speeding down the road towards the bank. "Finaly, something exciting!" "Exiting? You need to get out more Max" Once you pull up just around the corner of the bank, you hear commotion and the 3 armed robbers trying to leave the scene, there are 4 police cars and armed police officers behind them, using it like a barricade, shots are being fired from each side. "Babes, you need to stay hear and call for back up" "What? Why?" "Your not wearing your vest, you need to stay out of line of the bullets, you got it?" You just look over to the officers, worried for your other colleagues, but Max pulls your face to look at his, and he is looking very seriously at you.

"Babes! Do not go out there ok?" "Alright Max" he gives you a kiss before leaving the car and moving along the wall towards the commotion, trying to stay out of sight. It's only then that you realise something when just before you see Max hide behind a car, he isnt wearing his jacket either! He's walking into a death trap! How could he not tell you? You knew he cared about your safety, but you felt the same way about him, you couldn't stay behind and not protect him. You got out of the car too and started following the same route Max took being careful not to be seen. Max makes a dash for 2 armed robbers and manages to shoot both, making them drop their guns, and he manages to cuff both off them to the street lamp next to the bank. However, neither Max or the other officers see an armed robber sneeking up behind him, but not with a gun, but with a knife! A big one with serrated edges, it looked big enough to go straight through someone's torso. And without his vest, Max was done for!

You aimed your gun towards the robber, but your gun seized up, it was jammed! What could you do? Thing only thing you could do. You ran as fast as you could towards the robber and Max, trying to get Max's attention, but it was no use, Max was fighting someone who was infront of him. You were just inches away from Max when he saw you, worry in his eyes, but the moment was very sudden, it all happend so quickly. You had pushed Max onto the floor, and instead of the robbers enormous knife plunging right into Max's back, it stabbed right into you! Into your chest! It didnt feel like you were being stabbed, it felt more like a painful punch, but then the warm trickle of red liquid started to pour out of your chest, you fall back into the ground, with it still in your chest, everything was spinning around you. You didnt know if it was the fear, the blood loss or both, but the world was blurry around you and the pain you were experiencing was worse than anything you could have imagined. "NOOO! "There was a white noise around you, and Max's screams sounded more like a whisper to you, looking up from the ground, Max shoots the robber in the knees and punches his lights out.

Within the second that happens, hes down on the floor cradling you in his arms, horrified as tears stream down his face. He doesn't know what to do, the love of his life dying before his eyes, bleeding and barely able to speak. Tears run down your face as you look up at him, not knowing what was going to happen, but you knew that it saved Max. "Babes, babes please hold on ok? Someone get an ambulance! Please! I'm begging you please..." the last of his words fall out of his mouth like a wounded man with no air left in his lungs, he cant even scream for help anymore, his next breath let's out a pained cry as he desperately clings to you. "Max...its ok..." His face is streaming, still looking down at you, trying desperately to stop the bleeding with his hand. "I love you...If i had the chance to go back and change this...i wouldnt. I would save you again, and again...and again..." The last thing you see is Max's distraught face, as your vision slowly goes black, and your head flops against him. "Y/N! Open your eyes for me please! Babes please! Someone please help!"

You awake after what feels like many hours later, in a hospital bed. Its quiet, and calm, nothing like what you remember. Theres no white noise, no screams and the pain you remember is gone. You thought you were dead, you thought you died trying to save Max, so how are you now hear? How could you have survived that attack? You slowly look around at your environment, it was a single bed room, noone else was sharing it with you. You felt numb around your chest and your eyes still felt heavy. Then you turn to the right hand side of the bed and see Max. Thank god hes ok and he isnt hurt at all, but he looks like an emotional wreck. His hands are clinging onto your right hand, you can feel his lips leaving kisses and the tears that fall from his face as he leans against your hand. Almost like he is burying his face against it. His shoulders are shaking as he cries against your touch, and you can hear his muffled cry against the bed.

"Max?" You ask almost in a whisper, your voice is groggy and tired, but it instantly alerts Max to lift his head. His eyes are blood red, his cheeks are stained with tears and he is pale in the face. "Y/N!" He gets up from his chair at the side of the bed and is instantly sat beside you, leaning down and hugging you like you were about to disappear. With the little strength you had, you hold onto his arms, but only very gently, trying to show how much you needed to feel him too. He sits back up, still crying and faces you. "I thought I lost you babes...i thought you'd never wake up and I-I-" he stutters over his words as he is still really upset, but you reach up and rest your hand against his cheek, trying to calm him. "Shhh Max, it's ok. I'm sorry I frightened you today, but I couldn't let you get hurt out there. I love you, and I couldn't never let something like that happen to you" "Today? Babes the attack happen on Monday, today's Friday, you've been unconscious for 4 days!" That was not something you were expecting to hear.

"4 days? How?" Just then, a friendly doctor walked into the room. "Maybe I can explain. Its nice to see you awake miss L/N, I'm doctor Morris and I was the one who did your surgery" Surgery? Its then that you move your hand up and pull a little from your hospital gown and see a large bandage across your chest. "The surgery was a success, we were able to remove the weapon from you, and thankfully it didnt hit your heart or any other important veins or arteries in your chest. In fact your partner hear is to thank, if he had removed the weapon you would of died within minutes. He prolonged your life until we were able to operate" You and Max look at eachother, and he smiles through his tears while giving your hand a squeeze. "I'm afraid you will have to stay at the hospital for the next few weeks, your injury was severe and we have to keep you in for observation. But once your heald up nicely we will be able to discharge you. For the meantime I shall inform the nurses your awake and they can bring you something to eat, I'm bet you may be quite hungry after being asleep for 4 days" He gives you a friendly nod and leaves the room, letting you and Max be alone.

"Y/N, I love you so much, and I'm sorry this happend to you" "Max why didnt you tell me you didnt have your own vest on?" "Because I didnt want to worry you, i can handle myself out there" "Max if you had told me the truth this wouldn't have happend, we would have both been safe in the car, and that robber wouldn't have tried to attack you when you weren't looking" "Babes I just couldn't handle the thought of something happening to you-" "And you dont think I'm the same? If it was the opposite way round, you would be thinking the same thing as me" His face falls, as he knows your right. "Your right, I'm sorry. Look let's just focus on the fact that your ok now. And I promise I will never do that again, theres no way there's even the slightest chance I'm letting you go near anything dangerous" "Not for a while anyway, I'm stuck hear for a few more weeks aren't I?" "Thats true, you are" the seriousness of the situation is broken when you both look at each other and let out a little chuckle.

Then a nurse pops in and gives you a trey of food for you to eat. After she leaves, it's gone within a matter of minutes, you didnt realise how hungry you were. "You feel better Babes?" "Yes, much better thanks. I have to say though, this place is a little boring, there isnt much to do around hear" Max eyes up the door and walks over to it, closing and locking it. "Well, if you want a little something to help you feel better....you know..." "You mean, have my own personal check over from Dr Parish?...I dont mind if I do..." Max smirks, before pulling the curtain to hide you both from sight, for some much needed time together.

I dont remember why but I started thinking about the bloody Jack series and why I dropped it and it immidiently lead into how much I hate Jamie.

TRIGGER WARNINGS: rape, assault, csa, sex trafficking, statutory rape. All within the context of the first six books in the bloody jack series.

I read the books when I was thirteen and dropped the series halfway through the sixth book, My Bonny Light Horseman.

The series deals a lot with sexual assault. In the first book there is a crewmate who tries to rape her after being extremely blatantly creepy throughout the book. In the second a major plot point is that a reverend at the school she was sent to raped and murdered a girl who looked similar to jacky. In the third she is taken by pirates and almost raped by the captain. In the fourth her and her classmates are kidnapped to be sold into sexual slavery and one of the girls talks about how she was raped by her uncle as a child. In the fifth a young girl travelling with jamie is implied to have been molested prior to running away. And in the beginning of the sixth jackie is once again sex trafficked.

That part of the sixth book she is taken by british naval intelligence and is made to pretend to be part of a ballet troop and sleep with French officers to get information. She never does, she cleverly escapes it just like all the other situations.

The scene where I stopped reading was when she was having a breakdown about how she didnt want to be there and just wanted to be with jamie and have his baby. As a thirteen year old it was my breaking point. I'd been uncomfortable at points but Jackie always got control of her situations. At this point not only did she not have control I also didnt understand why she wanted jamie, much less to have kids with him. But she was distressed, so I got distressed, and I wasn't able to continue.

How does this lead back to hating jamie? Because he sucks.

He made me uncomfortable from the beginning of their relationship. He repeatedly tries to pressure jackie into having sex with him despite her telling him all the legitimate reasons she can't, the major thing being that it will not only expose her as being a girl but most likely also kill her (referring to her getting pregnant as a result. Jackie at this point might think it happens everytime, but regardless with the situation shes in she can not risk it). Jamie brushes off all her concerns and she has to prevent him from pulling her into an unattended lifeboat.

Throughout the other books he is actively tracking down Jackie to be with her. Which gets really wierd. She has other love interests throughout them, all with way better chemistry than him, but even when she rejects him he doesnt give up.

Bringing us to book five and Clementine, the young girl traveling with Jamie. She saves him after he was robbed by bandits and left for dead. She thinks he is an angel sent to save her. He thinks she's very beutiful and womanly. She is fourteen. He is nineteen. They do have sex, including after he finds out. He is shown to be guilty for it, but it doesnt stop him.

He then leaves her with a woman who was very outspokenly against them being together. Without warning.

Had Jackie slept with anyone or even been assaulted you know he'd never let it go. He hated that she interacted with other men and I'm pretty sure he told her she was asking for it by leaning against the ship railing in the first book. Which he definitly said because he was freaking out over also being attracted to her (prior to learning she wasnt a man).

Anyway.

These books are so much worse listed out than they seemed while reading it. Literally every book has rape as a major plot point. I really liked them up until the sixth and want to reread them. But they're so much.

I cant believe she ends up with him. The betrayal I felt. Literally anyone else would be better.

Okay as you saw in my previous ask I absolutely ADORED this chapter and was screaming crying throwing up the entire time reading it so thats established but I am back for my full entire review of the chapter in detail because I NEEEEEEED to point out my fave details ok thanks (AS ALWAYS SPOILERS HERE)

Okay I need to take a second to sing your praises for the scene after Daniel walks in and max realises she called him…. This whole scene was written to perfectly make us as readers feel the increasing tension pressure and panic esp on the part of Charles and Daniel as they realise she doesnt really have a filter… as they get more panicked the more I was SCREAMING it was so perfect!!!!

Ok so the “I think im falling in love with him its so bad” was in one of the WIP games and I didnt think it could affect me more than it did then but in context I LOST MY SHIT

'You smiled at him like he was the only person in the room” FUCKKK shes so loud I cry; also max use your FREAKING brain I cant even with this man

“Did you ever stop to think that there must be a reason she called me instead of you?” OOOOOOF settle down Daniel, also yes he did think about it hes literally faking mate and you know this hes just the most jealous chaos monster as I like to say and I LOVE IT

“Because she. Fucking. Asked. Me. To.” His every action is centered on her I really cant take it UGHGHHGHHG

The way Charles and Daniel try so hard to prevent her from admitting something and snap out of their fight was somehow hot idk I was drooling tho. Panicking and drooling at the same time

“You had called Daniel because whatever you had wanted to ask him, you couldn’t do it without liquid courage. You weren’t lying, that was why you called him” Sure max…. Thats the only reason

“She told me she’s falling in love with Charles.” BUT DID SHE THO MAX??/? THINK REALLY HARD ABOUT THAT DID SHE SAY THAT???? Poor Daniel and also this justifies his jealousy in his brain and its only gonna get worseeeeeee I hope this gets cleared up soon bc I literally screamed NOOOO ITS SO BAD out loud when I read this part for the first time

The fact Daniel still went to take care of her after all that and was determined to be there for her its just so dreamy.  Also I know you are considering the bonus chapter with more info but I also want to know the process and convo of Daniel going to her place and how exactly it went down with her and Charles there?????? And yes her trying to seduce him would be COMICAL I would love to read it

I feel like Max knows on a subconscious level, but he can't like actually know and put it together because he's like no that's not possible because she's dating Charles so he's like dismissing his suspicions.

Honestly even Max is fed up at this point 😂 he may not get the whole picture but he knows enough to know they both want to be AT LEAST friends but they can't stop being idiots.

My husband has made fun of me lots for my love of Daniel's nose and I refuse to back down from my stance that it is perfect and beautiful NO MATTER WHAT ANYONE SAYS

Omg thank you, I'm so glad it felt authentic because that was like the part of the chapter that made me the most emotional when writing it. Like I feel like it wasn't super deep like "I want my mom to meet him so she could know my future husband and father of my children" it was just as simple as "She would have liked him."

its fascinating to see how nott talks about her family and the clan in the time between the end of the pirate arc and when the nein go to felderwin for the first time. because on the one hand shes So vague about everything, avoids giving any straight answers, and in hindsight thats sus (and definitely foreshadowing the fact that almost everything we knew about her up until that point was missing some crucial information for context, or simply false).

on the OTHER hand, she keeps referring to Yeza as her "friend" (and interestingly, I dont think any of the other party members - even jester - have suggested Yeza might have been someone nott loved romantically?). which means that veth is two for two on "downplayed the depth of my romantic feelings/interest in a nerdy guy by referring to him as a friend/platonic relation".

and that, in and of itself, is interesting! at this point in time (episode 48), nott doesnt believe she could ever really be with Yeza again. she hasnt reunited with him, her family thinks shes dead. so instead of allowing herself to grieve that relationship, she puts a distance there. hes not her husband, hes a friend. hes just a guy she knew. she didnt grow up a halfling in felderwin, she was with the clan. she invents this elaborate fake backstory for goblin nott and yeza's "past" together - because she still loves him, so much, and she cant fully cut him out of her history and her life and her heart

and then theres caleb - nott clearly felt so so much for him, and it was so complicated. as nott she could freely admire him, and follow him, and be his friend and walk beside him and sleep curled up next to him (because veth was the one who slept next to yeza, and veth was dead, wasn't she?) The collision of her reluctant new identity as Nott and her history as Veth as the nein go to rescue Yeza brings those conflicting feelings to the forefront; in some ways they each represent her possible choices, in the span of time between late arc 3 and the beginnings of arc 5. live a peaceful life as a housewife with yeza, or continue adventuring with caleb.

We know, despite everything, that she did feel romantic attraction to Caleb because of a scene where she admits but also downplays it - she claims that on the night they first met, she felt some attraction to him, but then she got to know him and she stopped feeling that way. but then, right before they perform Transmogrification, she tells him he is the second love of her life and kisses him - the most honest about her feelings for him that I think she ever was, to herself and others.

she put that distance between herself and her feelings for caleb because she felt guilty, because it wasn't something she was supposed to still want, now that she had her husband back.

i think it's very interesting to see that that behavior isnt just something she did in regards to caleb, but that shes also seen doing it with her marriage; moreover, I think it all fits into the patterns of behavior where nott/veth prioritizes the needs of others over her own. shes so focused on other people because she cant stop and examine her own wants or needs without falling apart on some level, so she just pushes them aside, downplays what's going on, and acts like nothing is wrong

It’s all for his sake - Endeavor and the Sunk Cost Fallacy

My hero academia 301 is a pretty interesting chapter, but for me, the most notable piece of it was how Endeavour reacted to the realization that Touya couldnt surpass All Might.

upon realizing that his son might not be able to do it because of inborn physical limitations, he immediatly stopped his training, which frankly was the responsible and adult thing to do. 

This stint of real parenthood did not last long however.

After taking the matter to a doctor, he is flat out told that not only cant Touya achive what endeavor wants, but it is a direct result of his incredibly selfish and irresponsible attempt to play god, by trying to breed the “perfect” hero into being.

It is how you react when you lose however, that shows who you really are, and endeavor illustrates that very, very well.

Upon being told in no uncertain terms that his attempts at Breeding an heir failed magnificently, producing a child that was not capable of resisting his own immense power, but also admonished by his doctor for even attempting it, and adviced not to try again, Endeavor instead doubled down, while focusing on the child he screwed over from the start with his attempt at genetic manipulation.

It was all for him you see. Endeavor doesnt use those words, but that is how he spins it here. it was all for Touya, all for his sake. if i stop now, then Touya was all for nothing, a mistake, im doing this for my son.

if im doing this for my son, then im not responsible for any of this.

his wife however, calls him out on it, as she understands Touya much, much more than endeavor does. or rather, she sees him fully as a human being, instead of as a thing, a weapon, a failed attempt at an heir.

Unlike Endeavor, Rei is able to see the way this all is affecting her son. She is able to see, and understand that Touya has fully accepted what Endeavor wanted him to be. a stronger, and better version of himself. however, unlike Endeavor, she only cares about him as a person.

Endeavour by comparison isnt completely uncaring about Touya. like most abusive parents, he does possess love for his offspring, but it is forever tainted by the fact that however much he might care, or not care about Touya, any familial love he has for his son is tainted by the fact that to Endeavor, he is a failed experiment, a failed heir, not his child. 

He is the golden child that Endeavor was building up as his true and only heir, who he breed, trained, and molded to for that single purpose, and now that he’s reached a point where he cant continue that legacy.

so, its time to abandon him, and start over new, despite literarily having just learned how stupid this plan was, and that it can, in fact, go completely wrong, with a quirk that will fuck over the person he brings into the world.

Of course, Endeavor doesnt use those words to frame it. there is no way to pretend to be a hero, if you phrase it like that after all. Intead, this is the words he uses.

this is a very important series of panels for a great number of reasons, some that can be debated, argued, and we will probably never know the full truth to the questions because this is a series published in 2020′s shonen jump, and there are things that probably wasnt gonna fly with Hori’s editors, if it was the case.

but lets start with what can not be debated. Endeavor’s words here.

“If we want him to give it up, then we have no choice... Touya... Cant surpass him.”

These are very telling words, and however you believe The third and fourth children of the Todoroki family was concieved, there is not denying the meaning of what he’s saying here.

The only way that my son will stop being an idiot and fall into line, is if we have another baby. that is the only Right way to move forward. it is morally right, because if we dont do this, then he’s going to destroy himself.

there are two ways to interpret this scene.

The charitable way is to read it as the fact that he used Rei’s oldest son’s mental state as a justification of guilting his wife to have a third child, to give this attempt at a superpowered breeding project another shot, despite the fact that they now know that this can lead to a child who is essentially born crippled from his own powers, and despite the fact that Rei obviously understands the effect of them continuing this insanity will have on their oldest son.

the uncharitable way to look at it, is that he used this as justification for flat out raping her, and forcing a third, and then later a fourth child on her.

I personally believe the last one, given a number of factors shown in this chapter(the way this page is framed, the fact Rei obviously didnt want a third child, given she predicted exactly how touya would react, the way her eyes would latet turn when she looks at who is presumably touya which really brings to mind how she would later react to her youngest son’s face after her mental breakdown, etc.), but i’ll frankly admitt that withouth a direct quote from Hori, its impossible to know for sure one way or another. 

either way however, this is a very good example of Endeavor both being influenced by, and using Sunk Cost Fallacy to justify bringing another potentially crippled child into the world for his own, selfish goals.

sunk cost Fallacy, is a mental reaction to when you invest more time and resources into a project, that you becomes so emotionally invested into said project that you will continue to invest into it, even if it reaches a point that it becomes clear that the resources you put into it, far, far outweighs the potential gains you can achieve.

because if you give up after having invested years, and years of effort to breed, raise, and train a kid, and then all that effort was absolutely wasted. hence he choose to keep going, despite having learned what a terrible idea this is.

He doesnt care about the fact that his next child might be even more crippled than his firstborn, he doesnt care about his son’s actual wellbeing. he cares about the fact that if he doesnt continue this insanity, then not only will he not achieve his dreams, but everything he did to get to this point was for absolutely nothing.

and endeavor cannot accept that. and so long as he can justify breeding more children into the world, and there being any chance they might inherit both quirks perfectly, he doesnt care about anything else.

and the moment he realised that this kid wasnt gonna cut it either, he did it again. it is not a coincidence, that the age gap between Endeavor’s second, third, and fourth children were all 3-4 years apart. because thats the age where you can usually tell when a quirk will manifest or not, as established earlier in the series.

While she isnt brought up directly by Endeavor as a justification, it is very telling that Endeavor decided on having a third child, only after his second child was old enough that he could tell that that there was no chance she could take the place as his heir instead.

So, he had his third child, and as time passed and it became obvious that he wasn’t gonna be able to fulfill Endeavor’s goals either, he dumped him, and instead breed a fourth child into existence.

and finally, he struck gold. he did it. he produced Shoto.

everything was finally worth it, and now, everything would be absolutely fine. the cost fallacy had reached its end, and it was now all full sails ahead.

except of course it wasnt.

His oldest son, now in middle school, had been raised from birth to believe he would surpass his father, only to be thrown away, and getting to see his father try to replace him, not once, but twice.

frankly, this scene is probably my favorite in the chapter, because it goes to show Endeavor’s mindset. Natsuo made a point that their father completely ignored his older children. and he did... from Natsuo’s perspective. however, having a more thourough picture of things, we can clearly see that this wasnt the case with Touya.

Endeavor genuinly cared for Touya, enough that once he got that child he tried to breed into existence 4 times, he genuinly wanted him to just abandon trying to be a hero. he genuinly thinks of himself as a good dad here, wanting his son to abandon the mission he set out for him before he was born. of course, with context, this heartwarming scene is incredibly sad and insidious, because we understand why Endeavor got so attached to his oldest child. because he WAS the golden child. he was the child Endeavor genuinly cared about, and invested in, and trained personally with great warmth and enthusiasm.

And not only did he abandon him as a failed project the moment he realized he wasnt gonna live up to his ridiculous standards, but he literarily created 2 more kids to try and replace him, just as his oldest son was old enough to understand what exactly his dad was doing. over the course of this chapter, we get to see Touya’s start as a 5-8 year old, his deteriorating mental state over the years, until he finally seemed to reach the breaking point with Shoto’s birth sometime in his middle school years 12-15. 

Endeavor is in this scene, just not capable of understanding why Touya so desperately wants to become a hero, when obviously he isnt physically able to do so. he isnt able to understand that he is 100% to blame for the fact that his son is having a full emotional breakdown after literaly being replaced by his siblings. 

In other words, Endeavor genuinly think’s he’s a good person. a person who has made a few mistakes along the way sure, but a person who was always justified in the end, and now that he’s having to face the fact that as dabi would later say “The past never dies” and has to face the aftermath of his inane attempt to play god for the pettiest of reasons, things simply arent going to work out.

He isnt going to have a happy family, who can now put the awful early years behind them, he put way too much effort, caused too much suffering and sacrificed too many years of his life for this not to work out as he wants.

after all, if he walks away from this project now, and lets Shoto have a normal childhood, and decide for himself, with no pressure from him, wheter or not to become a hero, then the sunk cost fallacy will have reached a negative end. it will all have been for nothing.

and we know he did eventually double down on this mentality, literarily beating into Shoto that he WAS going to become a hero, and there was not but’s or no’s about it.

there was no way that Endeavor was EVER going to let things be for nothing. His treatment of his older children could not be for nothing. His treatment of his wife could not be for nothing. His treatment of Shoto, and the way he beat him black and blue to train him, could not be for nothing.

Because if it all was for nothing, if everything he feels guilty about was for absolutely nothing, then he was in fact, a bad, bad person, who had no justification for anything he ever did.
