“So… Collei. Tell me what is that important, that you had to wake up the whole forest with your…”

“Tighnari.” You frown at him.

“I am sorry Collei. Now, tell me what happened.”

“Master Tighnari, someone has set up a bonfire in the middle of the forest… And it burns.”

“Well… That usually happens with fire.” He scratches his head. “Even though it is a forbidden act in our forest to leave an open fire, anyone can deal with it pretty quickly. So why…”

“It already burned a few acres!”

“Oh. Wait, what? So the forest is burning?!”

“Yes!”

“It shouldn't be a big fire. I haven't seen or smelled any smoke.”

“It's on the other side of the forest, but it's spreading really quickly! It doesn't look good, and many people and their homes are in danger.”

“Yes Master Tighnari, you are right. We don't have time.” She says and points at you.

“Who is coming?!” Collei asks nervously while looking around hoping to see the intruder.

Tighnari just stands there without any movement, shocked, staring at you. “Not now.”

Tighnari´s tale nervously jumps from one side to another as he tries to think.

“If I may suggest, there is a small Watchers cabin on the way.”

We will figure something out, but if you meet someone from our medical team, send them to the cabin. We will be there…”

“Yes, master!” She says and runs away.

“Now…” He sights. “Let me take you there. At least you will not be cold. And then… I don´t know. Everything is happening at once.”

“Tighnari, calm down. It just started. Contractions are irregular and far apart, so we have enough time until someone will come to help us.”

“Master!”

“Collei! Finally! It's been hours! How does it look? What is happening?”

“We can do it, don't worry.” She looks at you. “I think… Yes, I can help. No, I WILL HELP!” Collei grabs Tighnari that already lays on the floor, half dead.

“Master! Do you hear me?”

“No water for you! Your wife is ready to have your baby. Do you understand?”

“Oh no.” Tighnari whines.

“Oh yes. Time to wake up!”

Collei helps him to stand up. After a moment, he looks ready until he doesn't.

“Not again! You are one of the best forest watchers! You know everything about nature and you are scared of this?!”

“I… I don't think that I can do this.” Tighnari looks at her with a blank stare on his deadly pale face.

Collei comes to him and shakes him like a paper doll. “Get it together! The baby will come right now and right here! Whether you like it or not!” 

“Oh my… Collei! Damn.” You smile at your friend's enthusiasm. “I would love to watch this drama, but I don't think we have any more time.”

“Okay, okay! One more push!” says Collei with a supportive smile.

“He is here!” Collei screams louder than your crying newborn baby.

Tighnari squishes your hand even harder while his gaze jumps from you to your son and back.

“He is so beautiful.” You cry. “And has huge lungs like his auntie.” You smile through the tears at Collei.

“Me???” She looks at you and starts sobbing uncontrollably while wrapping the baby in blankets from the cabin

“Let me, I will do it.” Tighnari comes to her with a wide smile. After a moment he comes to you, puts a long kiss on your forehead, and shows you your baby with proudness radiating from his face.

You take your baby in your arms and the blanket slips a little, exposing the baby´s beautiful ears.

Disclaimer/edit: This is my first fanfic Ever so please don't be mean. I have never played COD and I have no idea how I ended up in the fandom but I'm here now. Also I typed this on my phone so forgive me for that.

The silence is... comfortable, all things considered. You, curled up in the corner of the couch with a book you finally have time to read, and Ghost, looking over some papers in the armchair that's seen better days, with a steaming "cuppa" as he likes to call it. You want to tease him about it but well... it's Ghost, your superior and probably the most intimidating person you have ever met and you'd rather not find out the hard way that he doesn't have a sense of humor.

But you two have gotten into a kind of routine where, when there was down time between missions that was just a little too quiet, you'd both end up here in the common area and do your own thing.

So when Soap does a double-take when walking through, asking "Right, what's all this then?," you knew you had to fuck with him.

A glance at Ghost before looking back, "What are you talking about?," sporting a confused look on your face.

"I mean you two hanging out. I've never seen you two together in the same room outside of briefings before."

Back to Ghost and you share a look, hoping your eyes convey that he go along with what you're about to do.

"Of course we'd be hanging out, we're best friends," you give an incredulous look.

"...fuckin' what," Soap gives an incredulous look back.

"Oi! Manage that," Ghost growls.

"Oh fuck you, I was talkin' to Gaz for 5 minutes outside that door and I haven't heard a Sound come out of this room that entire time," Soap says, becoming frustrated.

"That's because our friendship has surpassed the need for words. We're comfortable just being in each other's company," you respond, leaning back into the couch.

"I think you're full of shit 'cause I've never seen you two together or meetin' up except for when necessary," Soap very pointedly says.

"What are you, their mum?" You couldn't be fucking happier that Ghost was going along with this as Soap sends a look his way.

"Yeah! And not that it's any of your business, but we went to karaoke just last week!," bringing the attention back to you.

"Karaoke? Him!? You expect me to believe that?!" You do feel Ghost's stare on the side of your face, probably wondering how you're going to make this in anyway believable.

"Well it's more me singing and him indulging me by coming. He doesn't sing unless I have at least 5 drinks in me but I never remember much afterwards..." trailing off and scrunching up your face, hoping you look like you're trying to remember these made up nights.

Soap glares at you for a moment, trying to find some kind of fault on your face before letting out a sigh.

"Yeah, that actually sounds like something he'd do. Now what was this comment about her mum?" Soap asks, turning towards Ghost.

"I was facetiming her when he came up behind me. Scared the absolute bejeezus out of her enough for her to scold him. When he was finally able to get an apology in she started asking questions as if this was school and not the military! All 'how're they doing?' and 'they getting along with the other soldiers?' It was mortifying! I might as well not have been there the way she was talking. And then- oh and Then! She asked for His number! Can you believe that?!" You deserve a fucking oscar the way you have Soap's attention over this performance.

"'S not my fault she likes me better. Says I'm a delight." The mask gives nothing away but the look in his eyes tell you he's having the time of his life, his arms over the back of the armchair, looking more relaxed than you've ever seen him.

"Oh now I Know you're fucking with me. No offense Ghost but you're about as delightful as steppin' on a pinecone barefoot!" Soap practically spits at him.

"'S not what her mum thinks. She even sent me some treacle tarts."

"She sent you treacle tarts?! She doesn't even make me those!," you get in before Soap can say anything. Never mind that she's never made them before. Ghost gives a shrug while Soap looks back and forth between the two of you, looking like he's trying to grasp at straws.

"Bu-but you're American! You've even said before that both your parents are American!"

"And my mom could have travelled and decided she wanted to have them for the rest of her life after trying them once, you ever think of that? And really? 'I'm American' is the best you can come up with?," you give a pitying look.

"This mean you believe us then? That we're best mates?" Ghost interjects in his gruff voice. Actually hearing him actively going along with the bit and not just throwing in a line or two while you ramble gets your heart racing for some reason. You hope it doesn't show on your face.

"Hell no, do you see that look on their face?!"

Fuck.

"That's because this is the first time I've ever heard him say it and I'm trying not to get emotional, don't ruin this for me," you have no idea where that came from but you barely know what you're saying any this point, "Anyways, as much as I would love to keep listening to you doubt the validity and integrity of Ghost's and my friendship, I have this thing I need to get to that starts riiiight abouut," looking over Soap's shoulder at the clock, "now, at anywhere else but here. So I'm gonna get going. Ghost, you coming?," you ask getting off the couch. You actually feel your heart drop to your ass when he actually gets up too, gathering his things.

Soap's eyes are impossibly wide as he watches the both of you make your way out, flabbergasted. And it is taking everything inside of you to keep yourself neutral, but there's just.. one last thing you have to say before you leave.

"Honestly, I'm really disappointed in you. Acting like we'd do this as a bit just to mess with you. For shame, Soap, for shame. After you," a small smile slips as you hold the door open for Ghost. He nods his head in thanks and, dare you say, almost saunters out.

Soap's eyes widen further and shouts, "Hey!," but the door's already closed.

You and Ghost walk in silence for a period until you're sure you're far enough away.

"You think that last bit was too much?," genuinely curious to how he'll respond.

"I think it was just enough for him to question if the entire thing was a sham or not. He'll be scratchin' his head for weeks after this," his low voice giving away the smirk that's in there. You both stop and look at each other for a pause before you dissolve into a fit of giggles.

"I have - never Seen - Soap look so mad before!," you manage to gasp out, clutching your sides as you fall against the wall, "Oh my God I wonder how long I could have kept that up for! Thank you for going along with me."

"Are you kidding? That's gonna be putting a smile on my face for the next month." And that sends you into another fit, doubling over almost sending you to the ground. Entirely missing the quiet chuckle he lets out.

"I think we could milk this out for another week. What say you? Wanna keep the bit going?," he sticks out his hand, his eyes more playful than you ever knew they could be, that you completely forget to be surprised at his question. A grin creeps up onto your face and you give his hand an enthusiastic shake, wholly ready to commit to the bit.

"Bestie, I think we can make it 2."

Little Nightmares unused 2017 comic content master post (WILL BE UPDATED)

Okay, so disclaimer/info: None of these have been "leaked" by me, nor are they leaks in the first place; I just found them because I'm a HUGE LN comic fan, and I cannot keep the silliness contained. They either came from posts/portfolios made by the original comic creators or official announcements (with a few exceptions.) All of these are real. Obviously, don't take my word for it, but all of these have come from official sources that can be found online (if you want me to, I can prove it). Also, I know I might get people asking me about this/asking me to add it, but the supposed "leaked" comic pages of the Runaway Kid and Six interacting are fake. As far as I'm aware, these were either made to push sevix as canon or to troll. Either way, they were presented as being real leaks. Any other leak posted by this person was, while convicting, faked. (I don't want to start drama, and this happened years ago, so obviously, I'm not going to mention who made these posts.) Also, I will be updating this post with new content once I find it. I am currently looking for a couple of early sketches I saw a while ago. LAST THING: not all of these are unused content. Some are unused covers that didn't make it into the display at the end of the comics or inked and uncolored versions of existing pages.

Taken from Aaron Alexovich's website. This is an alternate version of an existing panel. The North Wind seems to have shape-shifted itself or created the visage of a wolf to blow at the barn. This is probably a reference to The Three Little Pigs, which fits, considering that The Tale Of The North Wind has many references to the fairytale "The North Wind And The Sun" and some other stories that involve the north wind as a character. One other minor difference is that the crows, which are implied to be skeletons in the original panel, are shown to be fully skeletal. Looking at the original panel, it seems like this version came first. Not sure why it was changed.

This one is an alternate cover version, so not really unused. As far as I'm aware, they don't sell selling physical copies with this cover anymore, but they do exist. Also, this can be seen in the cover display on the last pages of the comics, so if you've read them you've probably seen this. Might be a bit of a copout but it feels right to add it hear for some reason

I wasn't sure if I was going to include this one because, honestly, I don't really know what's going on with this cover. While this cover is used, for some reason, the colors in this version are super warm. It might be a reprint error, but it may also be an issue on the side of whoever took the photo. This may be a specific issue with the physical version as well. Really not sure what's up. (original below for comparison)

These two pages seem to go hand in hand. They were used on the steam announcement for the LN comics. The top page looks like two panels oddly edited together. These two pages honestly feel more like promotional material/concept art or something because of the sketchiness and scrapped designs. I believe these were specifically created for the announcement. This is just my speculation, though.

All the photos below are uncolored, inked versions of pages from book 2. These were found on a deviant art page which seems to be owned by one of the artists involved, probably the inker. Nothing super out of the ordinary until we get to the last of these inked pages.

MARCH 2024 DIARY POST

I'm keeping up the habit of writing a monthly post to catalogue all the things I've been obsessed with in 2024. At the end of the year, I want to be able to look back and remember what was making me happy all year long! If you are reading this, I hope you will enjoy hearing about these things or checking them out too! First, a chaotic collage of those things!

VIDEO GAME: As you may already know, Splatoon is probably my favorite video game franchise of all time. I really cannot overstate how important it is to me. Naturally, I was highly anticipating its new singleplayer DLC, titled Side Order, but when it finally came out at the end of February, my elbow was fractured in a way that made it painful for me to play. So, I had to wait until about a week into March for my elbow to heal a little. Then, I spent about 10 hours obsessively playing it, and I loved pretty much every second of it. It featured by far the most difficult levels ever seen in a Splatoon game, which was a treat to me as a player who was disappointed by the rather simplistic story mode of the base game. Splatoon 3: Side Order took the form of a roguelite battle tower, similar to Salmon Run but with new enemies, unique (and sometimes puzzling) stages, and customizable weapon builds. Even players who find it a bit too challenging at first can eventually mod the difficulty to an extent that (hopefully) makes it doable. The story was nothing crazy, but the gameplay and visuals were so unbelievably good that I honestly wished I could erase it all from my mind and play it again from the start. Just yay 💕, I love Splatoon so much.

TWITCH STREAM FAN EDIT: If you don't already know who Jerma is, he is a prolific video game streamer that I became a big fan of a few years ago. His unique humor has consistently impressed and appealed to me, and his fan community has proven itself to be both creative enough and motivated enough to persistently churn out edited “best of” versions of his streams. For better or for worse, Jerma announced his retirement from streaming last year, leaving his eager fans with nothing but his earlier content to dredge for, well… content. One such fan edit that was released this year, post-retirement, was a massive compilation of all his Nancy Drew playthroughs (save for one). This edit in particular was one that I found overwhelmingly funny and good, and it inspired an ongoing fanfic that I’m still currently working on writing. Oddly enough, watching this caused a domino effect that got me back into writing in general and has given me the surge of confidence and inspiration that I needed to keep working on creating the fiction that has lived inside in my head for years. I really hope this feeling never dies. You can watch the stream that inspired me, linked here!

MUSICAL ARTIST: Peach Kelli Pop is probably tied (with a few other artists) for the title of my favorite band of all time. Their entire discography is only about 2 hours long, but they were still my most listened to artist for several years in a row. It’s due to the consistency of the vibe across all of her work: upbeat and positive while still delivering a profound emotional impact. I've been able to just listen her entire catalog of music over and over and over again on shuffle. I might describe it as DIY rock, or feminist punk, and if you haven't heard it before, Gentle Leader is probably the best album to start with. Listen here!

MUSICAL ARTIST: After listening to nothing except Peach Kelli Pop for about a week straight, I started to look into similar bands that I hadn't already checked out and found one that really caught my interest. That's how I was introduced to Tacocat! Their band name is both a palindrome and euphemism, and their album Lost Time was love at first listen. They have cozy lyrics about aliens, birth control, and creating your own values, and their music has left me in a good mood every time I've thrown it on. SONG: It's Don’t Rain On My Parade, by Barbra Streisand!! I still haven't watched the musical that this song is from, but the drag queen Plasma mentioned it on RuPaul Season 16, which is how I ended up hearing it. This song gets an individual mention because I was absolutely blown away by this one individual track! It's brilliant and catchy right out of the gate, "Life's candy and the sun's a ball of butter! Don't bring around a cloud to rain on my parade!" It's from 1964, but its recording sounds crystal clear and it channels its intended emotions perfectly. I felt compelled to listen to it over and over again, because it really is just so cheerful and artistically inspiring. I feel like it's a perfect piece of music. Listen here!

SONG: I have to give another song an individual mention! It's Mood Indigo, by Nina Simone!! I’ve been a big fan of Nina Simone for years now, but more often than not, I've stuck to my favorite album, Pastel Blues. I did branch out and listen to this song a few times in the past, but it only recently dawned on me just how perfect it is. Wikipedia says that it was recorded in 1964, about the same time as Don’t Rain On My Parade, and while it's technically a cover of an old Duke Ellington song, Nina Simone’s version has a totally unique vibe, evident from the first few bars. Its lyrics are meant to be cathartic, as they discuss suicidal ideation, while the drums, bass, and piano create a beautiful and upbeat swing melody that perfectly juxtaposes and rebuts the content of Nina’s vocals. It's menacing, catchy, uplifting, and truly perfect! I now believe it to be a landmark in Nina Simone’s career, and the whole of music history in general. Listen here!

MUSICAL ARTIST: Okay, one last music rec, I swear!! I was really feeling the vibes this month (but mostly just listening to bands that I already know and love). Along with Peach Kelli Pop, another one of my favorite bands is King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard. Ever since 2017 (aka, the year of the gizz) they have probably reigned supreme as my #1 most listened to band. They just have so much music, with so much variation, that I can usually find at least one of their songs that appeals to me. Since the start of this year, I've been collecting and organizing a playlist of my favorite songs by them, titled 31 Days Of Gizz. Not for any particular reason, but just because I find it fun to make lists! At the last minute, I decided that I would organize the songs, specifically in the way that I would play them if I were introducing someone new to the band. So, if you haven’t heard their music before, maybe it’s time I introduced you? But no pressure, I just like their songs and I made my playlist just for me! VIDEO GAME: Right before the month ended, I bought the new fantasy tactics game, Unicorn Overlord, and I am fucking in love. I’ve been a longtime fan of the fantasy tactics genre, so as soon as this game started making waves, I begrudgingly accepted that I HAD to play it. I really don’t have a lot of time in between trying to take care of things at home and working on my writing, as I mentioned before, but I briefly dropped all my other hobbies and managed to fit about 10 hours of gameplay in before the month ended. I really wish I had time to obsess over it, because I feel like it is a masterpiece, even if the rumors about there being gay content ended up being a disappointing exaggeration (the game was developed by Vanillaware, but was published by homophobic giants ATLUS and SEGA, so I’m not surprised). Despite the story being pretty much dog shit though, I believe the gameplay is damn near perfect, and even revolutionary within its genre. I’ll probably be sinking all my game time into it until the new Elden Ring DLC drops. If you’re a person who also likes fantasy tactics, then I highly recommend playing it (I got it for the Nintendo Switch, where it seems to run perfectly).

You know, yesterday's comment by @gyorklady on this post made me actually realise the actual length to which Cosmo and Oscar have kind of gone and probably gaslighted people (kind of cuz I don't know how else to describe it) Kind of a long post so...

Let's face it, Cosmo bought the Antiquarian when Oscar was his father and probably people would've known Oscar as his father/brother depending on the story given.

Now a few years pass and Cosmo has grown older and Oscar still looks the same, making the "Oscar is my father" introduction invalid, and making it suspicious for the people who knew Oscar as Cosmo's father cuz the elder is not aging but the younger is?

So Cosmo lies, lies his father is dead and the one you are seeing is an estranged brother who just coincidentally looks like his father in his youth. Some may believe it, some won't. But this starts a period of "Oscar is my brother" lies, which also comes to a close after a few years cuz again, Cosmo is aging but Oscar isn't.

Now, Cosmo may have been living in a different neighbourhood, may have been living separately from Oscar but they do visit from time to time, this time under the guise of brothers, which is slowly turning invalid cuz there's only a number of times you can justify that to be because "Oscar dyes his hair" or "He has the good genes"

Then comes the next story, "Oscar is my son/nephew" which will, again, look a little strange to the regulars to the Antiquarian because while they won't know the full family history of either of them, or the personal lives, they are certain to clock that the "brother" looks exactly the same as "the son/nephew" and no matter how much they tell it is the genes, it is bound to raise some suspicion.

Years pass and the "Son/nephew" image doesn't really cut it also anymore because again, the son doesn't seem to be aging but Cosmo is so comes the grandson image like "oh, he is my grandson out of marriage" or "he is the grandson of my estranged sister" etc.

So for the two of them, essentially, it has been decades of them literally being like:

"He's my father"

to

"He's my brother- oh he looks like my father? It is the genes"

to

"Oh! This is my son. Oh he's been living with his other relatives abroad and just came back to help me. It is just a coincidence he looks like my brother" or "Oh, this is my nephew, yeah it is not my brother's, it is another estranged sister's son and he has come to live with me now"

to

"This is my grandson. He's related to so and so/is my son's son and you just haven't seen him yet cuz my son is a little private. Oh, you haven't seen them both together have you?"

Just years of discussing and making back stories and fake relatives until people believe their lies to be the truth.

And Cosmo and Oscar have to also redefine their relationship through every single stage of it, Cosmo to be careful not to call Oscar his dad in front of anyone, to practice again and again so that they don't slip up in front of people, so much so they embody the lies even in the personal conversations even as they speak as father and son.

And they did it well enough that no one but the two of them except for a few Candela member actually knew that Oscar is Cosmo's dad. Even when Madam Glask and Dr. Elsie Roberts were so close to the small family. Don't remember if Cosmo was married and if he was, if his family knew the truth.

Edit: And just to the sheer number of people who have witnessed Oscar die and either come back to life in front of them or see him roaming around the next day because he has died 7 times before Tide and Bone and I don't think any of them would've been in his sleep. Suicide, maybe once or twice but apart from that? I think there would've been witnesses.

Luna's Review: Café Enchanté

And when government agents monitoring non-human activities show up at your door, your new café is about to become a lot more colorful.

(Just as a reminder, I'm writing this for myself to keep track of my thoughts and leave a record of the games I've played. Others are welcome to read and feel free to provide your own thoughts, but please, no hate! They're just my opinions, nothing more.)

I was excited for this game. The premise sounded amazing: a cute cafe full of magical beings from other worlds? Sign me up! I love the colorful cast of characters, and the art is undoubtedly gorgeous.

But, while I enjoyed elements of this game, the setting falls apart almost immediately, and has very little to do with any of the routes, with the exception of the true end. The whole game is actually incredibly dark, complete with bloodshed and death in every route, which is normally not a bad thing, but it feels a bit misleading here.

You're told almost at once that the cafe is somehow sustained on payments from only a handful of romanceable characters, none of which use human currency or seem to have jobs that would involve payment, with the exception of the one human bachelor Rindo. This is nitpicky, I know, but I found it frustrating because it would have been so easy to write a way around this.

Let me be clear that I don't necessarily mind a game with a ridiculous premise. I love Mystic Messenger, and the entire game hinges on the fact that you have moved into a stranger's apartment and have somehow remotely taken on party planning for a charity group of people you haven't met. But the thing about Mystic Messenger is that the ridiculousness is upfront, right at the beginning, and once you get past it and accept the game for what it is, you can enjoy it.

This is not so with Cafe Enchante. There are many times in this game where just a little more thought could have made things make more sense. To me, the whole game was plagued with sloppy writing and baffling plot details that could have easily been avoided or explained in a different way — not to mention the litany of literal editing errors. It's also not translated very well in places — or maybe it is, and just written poorly in its original Japanese. Either way, it reads awkwardly a lot of the time

Overall, I was not impressed with this game. It just goes to show that pretty artwork and a fun initial premise do not necessarily make a good product.

Below are my thoughts on each route in the order I played them.

Ignis Carbunculus Route

This is the route I got first, without trying. I actually did not want to get Ignis first, because I figured he was the tsundere character in this game, and I like to do those a bit later. He's actually not particularly tsundere at all, just hypermasculine and therefore not great at expressing emotions other than rage.

This is one of the darkest and, in my opinion, one of the laziest-written routes in the game. You're expected to believe that Ignis went on a rage, literally killed and ate many of his own people, including his family, forgot about it and then just continues on with his life, only to be conveniently reminded of his dark past at the right moment to advance the game. And the rest of his clan has been tolerating him because they're afraid of him, and for whatever reason, Ignis has never noticed everyone hates or fears him??

Ignis is also the only member of his species who can eat. The rest don't need to because they're born with all the calories they need for the rest of their lives apparently, meaning the beasts of the literal beast world don't kill each other for food, just sport. And oh, yeah, that's somehow also Ignis' fault.

I felt like this route could have been simplified in a way that made more sense. Instead, the writers had a vision and manipulated many small details to make the rest of the game work within that vision, resulting in a lot of strange decisions.

I'm aware this game isn't meant to be realistic, but Ignis' whole plotline seemed very contrived. It's like they had something written already but realized certain elements weren't congruent with other aspects of the game, so they just...manipulated elements of Ignis' route until it kind of fit.

Overall, I think Ignis' route was my least favorite. It felt the most rushed, the least polished, and assumed a lot of things conveniently went unnoticed for years in Ignis' life. There was just too much coincidence in this route for me.

Il Fado de Rie Route

This was the second route I played, and overall my favorite route. It felt the most cohesive out of all the characters, and it was the longest aside from the true end.

That doesn't mean I don't have my gripes with it. My biggest one is that Il, who has apparently based his entire personality, including his name, on an otome game character, makes the baffling decision to tell Kotone about the game and literally recommend she try that character's route first, only to immediately regret it when he realizes she's going to notice something is off.

Like, I could understand it if the personalities were just similar, but he took the name, too. I cannot believe he would be so stupid as to forget the game that he stole his persona and name from and then just freely give away that information. What pisses me off so much is that Kotone could have so easily encountered this information on her own. Have her buy the game independently to surprise Il, and then discover the overlap herself. Why on earth would he just give her that information? It's lazy writing.

I did really enjoy how angels are basically human androids and god is a supercomputer. That was rad as hell and is a brilliant explanation for why angel magic is math based. I'd say this route has the best worldbuilding, including the gorgeous pretty-boy side characters.

I don't feel completely satisfied with how Il's route was resolved, as there's still some question to how much of his personality is his own, but ultimately it was the most solid route in the game. I didn't think I would like Il as I don't particularly enjoy his character archetype, but in the end I was pretty attached to him. His characterization in the true end route was adorable as well, and I adore his friendship with Misyr.

Kaoru Rindo Route

Rindo was my second favorite route in the game. I think it's super funny that Kotone keeps talking about their age gap even though he's the second youngest character in the game at 42 years old.

His route is also (to my knowledge) the only route that lets you just straight up kill the person you're trying to romance, although it does dead end the game if you make the choice not to save him when you can.

The worst part of this route for me what the treatment of Rindo's sister, Shizuku. She doesn't get a proper sprite in her human form, so you have no idea what she looked like, and it makes it kind of hard to feel anything for her. I did like the utter horror of watching Mikado feed her with his blood with no explanation.

This is one of the darkest routes and the only one where a side character with a sprite actually dies. And when he does, you feel bad for him because he was just trying to protect the woman he loves.

It did feel a little predictable to have Rindo become non-human after oodles of conversations about whether or not humans and non-humans can have relationships. Honestly the game writers are cowards for not making Rindo look more extreme as a non-human. Make him a freak!!

I do appreciate that he remains non-human at the end, though. I feel like forcing him to become human again would have eliminated any of the growth he made during the route.

Personality-wise, Rindo is one of the cuter characters IMO. He's flirty but as soon as things get serious he backs off. Super adorable!

Canus Espada Route

This route was...ok. Just ok.

Honestly, I was bored through most of it. I can't really say why. It just didn't appeal to me that much.

Right at the beginning it annoyed me by assigning a gender to Vennia. Like, he could have just been left nonbinary. It's canon in this game that fairies don't have genders anyway, so it would have been fine to continue using they/them pronouns. I guess otome games haven't gone that way yet but it would have been nice.

I did like Vennia's relationship with Titania, and in the end, when he betrays Kotone, it felt natural. You can't hate him because you know he just wants to protect his sister.

I thought maybe his headlessness would be plot relevant but on the contrary, we get literally no explanation for why he's headless and nobody else is. I get that they wanted to make him an interesting character, but we know his ancestor was not headless, so why is he? Aren't there other dullahans in Medio?

I do think it's hilarious that we don't ever get to see his face. The implication is that he does in fact have one, so I had predicted it would be revealed as part of his route, but they stuck to their guns and kept him headless throughout the entire route.

Idk why I wasn't impressed with this route. Worldbuilding-wise it was one of the more solid storylines. It just wasn't particularly shocking or interesting to me, so I didn't love it, but I suppose I didn't hate it either.

Misyr Rex Route

This route was, quite frankly, absolutely ridiculous. This was the most obvious case of having an overall idea and not having the skills to execute it well.

So many things happened just because Misyr willed it to. For example, he gains magic powers and a semi-human form simply because he wanted to visit a four-year-old on earth? How does that even happen? This is already ignoring the fact that he transformed into an ash monster through forced evolution or whatever, which is already a stretch, mind you.

And if that's not ridiculous enough, we then get introduced to Noah, who is somehow an entire world. I actually found him to be more interesting of a character than Misyr, now that we know that Misyr's entire life consists of going to one cafe and doing nothing all day.

The most disappointing part of this route was Asmodeus, who was largely not relevant at all other than the initial shock of realizing Misyr wasn't the demon king. Why bother making such an annoying character for a brief gag? He could have been so much more but instead he's reduced to an unlikable flirt who kidnaps Kotone in order to provide an excuse for a cute CG, and then we barely see him ever again.

This whole route stinks of worldbuilding with no consideration for how certain elements would affect the rest of the world. You know how sometimes worlds in fictional programs (ie: Black Mirror) build their entire concepts around one aspect of society and don't bother fleshing out everything else? That's basically this whole route in a nutshell. It falls apart under the tiniest bit of scrutiny.

To top it off, the good ending of this route, and therefore the whole game, involves Kotone becoming the world herself, largely losing her human form, now cursed to live for eternity as a realm that turns people to ash????? Who decided this would be a satisfying ending for an otome game?

The one element I did like was the explanation for why non-humans look so much like humans. I think it's super cool that humans used to have superior technology and lost it and everything else grew from that. I like the biblical references as well.

Ultimately, though, this was a disappointing way to end the game for me.

Why?

If you weren't already aware, a tumblr staff member leaked that tumblr sold us out, not surprising, but it's not just that they've joined the ai bandwagon, they included our private posts, msgs, etc, made it opt-out instead of opt-in, and the anti crawl request list (robots.txt) that updates when you opt-out only includes a few bots and as far as I've been able to figure out, is uneditable. The only reason they addressed it was because we made a stink. They had no plans to tell us and it was already too late. If you happen to use carrd, which is what I was doing for my "website" and portfolio, you can't edit the robots.txt without buying a subscription and it allows all crawlers by default. And I wasn't even paying anyway so I still don't have my own domain name regardless. Now on neocities, I can do whatever I want. It's free real estate. except filehosting. don't do that. It only took me two weeks to stop trying to overcomplicate things in the short run to make things easier in the long run. They have templates so you don't even have to learn that much coding. Bring back old internet!

What's happening with my tumblr?

I'm slowly going to backup and delete my sideblogs. I honestly don't know if I should keep @flapjacs-old and this one up. For now I will, at least until the transition is complete. Seeing as how I'm an artist and an artist with little to no reach, I'm stuck at the moment needing to keep social media.

Eee thank you for asking! <3 I know you said only 49 was specifically for Thirteen, but if you don't mind I'm going to answer all of them for Thirteen since she is the blorbo ever for me xD This got long, so answers are after the read more!

Canon I outright reject. Oooh, this one was hard because I actually love most of the canon details the writers gave us about her. The only thing I personally reject is her having a sister. They never verbally mentioned her sister (unlike her brother), so I just go about that as if her brother is her only sibling and a sister never existed. Either that, or her brother IS her "sister" and just transitioned sometime during their childhood.

3. Obscure headcanon - I got lots of asks about #3 for Thirteen! Instead of repeating the same thing, I'll link my answer for it here.

31. If they had a tumblr, what would it look like? I love thinking about this as;ldfjalsf. If Thirteen had a tumblr, I think it would totally be super nerdy and completely dedicated to fandoms she's in (like Buffy if this is Thirteen as a teenager, or something like Star Trek, Final Fantasy (I can see her liking XIII but I haven't played through the whole thing myself yet, so we'll see if that holds).[EDIT to add: oh my fucking god, I pronounce the final fantasy numerals as vee-eye-eye, ex-eye-eye-eye, etc. so I didn't realize until hours later that I said Thirteen. Would probably like Final Fantasy *13*. That was unintentional I swear 😂😭] She'd have it set up beautifully with a custom theme, a banner and icon she made herself, and an intricate tagging system that makes finding anything on her blog an absolute breeze. Her url would have absolutely no connection to anything that someone IRL could identify her with and she'd go by a pseudonym (I can also see her just going by "R"-- her first initial). It would be her escape from any and all stress in her "real life" and a place where she could relax and nerd out without worrying about keeping up an image, or about what other people would think. Even Foreman wouldn't know about it while they're dating. It would be an absolute and total secret from everyone in her life, and that's how she'd like it. I think the only person she would've considered making an exception for would have been Kutner, if he had lived long enough for them to get closer.

49. Favorite toy as a child. I originally thought of this when planning out stuff for my fic, In the Dirt, but it works for canon, too. A very well loved stuffed bunny that was given to her by her older brother when she was little. At the start of ITD, she keeps it tucked away in a duffel bag that holds the last remnants of her childhood and teenage years. But I like to think that at some point after moving in with House, she gets comfortable enough to let the bunny sit on her bedside table. For her, it's a positive reminder of her brother and how close they were when they were younger (in no small part due to their dad being so pre-occupied with their mom's Huntington's). It definitely has a name, but I'm not sure what it is. I've always pictured it looking sort of like this:

1. What’s your favorite sims death? I haven't had a sim die from anything other than old age in a HOT minute but I saw a LP and the murphy bed death seems so unecessarily violent lmfao.

2. Alpha CC or Maxis Match? BOTH! I consider my style Maxis Mix. We love a nice combo of both.

3. Do you cheat when your sims gain weight? Not anymore but at one point I had to. Let me explain: I don't know if it was a glitch but like after every meal with grannie's cookbook, Indya would gain weight instantly. Didn't happen with anyone else (although everyone else are athletes of some sort). She's always and forever thick but something was definitely up with the food mods I was using. Anyway, we're good now since I'm not playing her HH exclusively anymore.

4. Do you use move objects? Absolutely. Its too restrictive! Gotta play test when I do though because routing errors make me irrationally angry.

5. Favorite mod? Wickedwhims. I don't care! If I want my sims to get freak-nasty I have a blog for that and WW never fumbles. If I want them to do cute little intimate things, WW is there. If you don't like the smut, I feel bad for you son.

6. First expansion/game/stuff pack you got? I've gotten pretty much ever iteration of this game except for almost all of the kits and the star wars pack.

7. Do you pronounce “live mode” like aLIVE or LIVing? ALIVE. I don't understand the other one honestly lol. We're going LIVE as soon as I press play so....

8. Who’s your favorite sim that you’ve made? Obvs Indya Drake!

9. Have you made a simself? Yes! But she needs help lol I'm not good at that at all so there's a resemblance but she doesn't really look like me. When I do gameplay with her I say she's my "sorta-kinda self sim" lol

25. What expansion/game/stuff pack is your favorite so far? Cottage Living is the goat IMO even though I don't play it much anymore. I do very much enjoy Island Living and Growing Together will round out a nice top 3.

bruh all of them lol. Every fic I've posted before 2022 makes me feel so ashamed and every day that goes by where I haven't made time to rewrite them makes me feel fucking nauseous lol

🍉 in what ways has writing helped you process trauma and/or navigate through your own life?

OKAY SO LIKE not to make everything about Anne Rice except that she like influenced me/corrupted me at a young age but I remember one time she phrase IWTV as a "conversation about grief" and it really made me think differently about like using stories to HAVE CONVERSATIONS with myself? Another author who was huge for me as a teen was Francesca Lia Block and one time in a workshop she suggested to like, identify things you don't like about yourself and turn them into characters?

I don't think I set out to start fics and go "I will process this feeling in myself" on purpose but I think like having control over the entire narrative gives us so many opportunities to just like spill words and feelings and ideas and it's so cathartic.

Something in particular though like all my pre-2020 VC fics I was like channeling a lot of my frustrations with myself into Armand (for example, time blindness!) and I used to just think they were character deficits of mine, but then like during 2020 when I was learning about ADHD/AuDHD it was like eye opening to go back to that and realize it was just like neurodivergent stuff that I was struggling with and I didn't know it. But it was nice to put those struggles into a character and remove them from myself so that I could like be a little more objective and have empathy and be kinder to myself because I was able to be kind to someone else. (Even if that someone was Armand, who is not real. LOL)

Ummmmmmm I think it changes occasionally as I try to learn things or curb bad habits? And sometimes I realize I do something too much and I get sick of it and try to evolve? I don't try to sculpt a style on purpose, it kinda just happens as it happens. I do try to like match a character's VOICE for the POV I'm writing, so like that can alter the style here and there. But I know like what works for me and what I like as a reader so I think there's sort of a natural cadence I hear in my mind when I read and write and it might evolve all the time when I read things. Like sometimes I'll read a book and it changes my cadence for a while because it influences me. So I think it does change, but I don't do it on purpose, and I hope there's at least some consistency in my work where you can still tell it's me. :)

It works for trees too! Be sure you're replacing the debug tree and not the Lot tree (i made this mistake initially too lol). There's a checkbox near the search bar in S4S to filter debug items. The tree names you're looking for are "treeGD_cherry_01" and "treeGD_cherry_02"

Some objects are tricky though. I still can't for the life of me find the concrete posts next to the canal where Eliza and Bob live 😭 if someone knows where they're hiding pls lmk

As for the placement of items, it isn't exclusive to CAW at all! The CAW mod right now just adds new features (like a preset tool), hidden debug items, and a much more intuitive interface (you can move objects around the world with WASD instead of clicking, for example). But everything I'm doing can definitely be achieved with TOOL! In fact I was planning on using TOOL only until the CAW mod was updated recently to work in existing save files.

The only problem you encounter with TOOL is that some areas in the world, like roads, aren't clickable, which means you end up fiddling around with XY coordinates and struggling to see past your current lot. To solve this I made a little mod to expand the clickable area. It's not my idea, a creator named Alexcroft came up with it, but his version no longer worked (and was only for Brindleton Bay and Sulani I believe) so I edited the BG files myself

I'll be uploading the mod with my save file of course (so off-lot areas will still be clickable/completely accessible) but if you want it now just send me another ask! (I don't want it buried in this long post lol) The only problem I've noticed so far is sims route a lot more 'freely', meaning they'll stray from the sidewalk and walk/bike in the middle of roads. I haven't gotten any glitches or last exceptions yet though, so I'm willing to share!

Definitely! TwistedMexi is amazing, there's going to be an exporter for completed worlds as well as an official exchange to download them. You can read all about CAW here. As of now Crest Harbor is only a save file and not a proper custom world, but I'll be exporting it the instant CAW is finished.

I have been thinking about the townies/lore, and I've decided to go for a very small town, quiet drama, everyone-knows-everyone-else's-business vibe. It's one of the things I love about the insular worlds of TS3. For one of the big expensive Victorians I'm going to build, I've decided to make a 'perfect' and very wealthy family. except the kids are rebellious kleptomaniacs, the politician dad is actually in the criminal career with a basement bunker and listening device, and the serial romantic, yoga instructor soccer mom is having a torrid affair with half the people in her class

Of course not every family will be like this lol, but you get the idea. I know people like to have their own sims (rightly so!) but I do want a lively backdrop for them to live against :)

I know! I've figured out how to change the icon itself, I just can't figure out how to make the files reference *only* my copied world instead of Willow Creek too. They have identical icons right now and it's kind of jarring. Probably something I'm missing. If all else fails I'll probably just replace Willow Creek altogether. She's had 9 years anyway her time is up

very pleased i've got you a t a l k i n' :) The CAW is in alpha right now, but lot editing is coming! TwistedMexi has a proof of concept showing that it's possible, he just hasn't implemented it yet. The difficulty I think is in making it user-friendly. All the lots in my save file are the same size as Willow Creek's though, since it's just a copy of that world. You can *technically* edit lot sizes by editing the game files but it's glitchy and I know I'd just break my game messing around with it

can we have a rundown of readers relationships with all the characters as of chapter 11? :P like what she thinks of them and where she stands with all of em individually?

I wanted to reply to this sooner but I'm in the middle of editing and both this ask and part 11 turned out longer than intended (someone needs to take my laptop away from me, especially after part 11 😭) but here it is! I hope it gives you a clear picture, though some friendships I haven't really thought of as much as others (sorry). I also want to clear up that part 11 takes place a few months before the Thanksgiving drabble. Part 11 takes place sometime in May, early June, two months after Miguel's near death experience.

Just to get it out of the way, reader loves everyone in the friend group! They're her found family and she's grateful that they've welcomed and taken her in as part of the friend/family group! She wouldn't be where she is now mentally if it wasn't for them! And without Miguel, too since she tells him things she doesn't share with others. The Spider Society has changed her and given her a support system! 🥺

Individual Characters

★Peter B.: She sees Peter as a kind of friend/father ish figure? You can tell from their interactions from when Miguel was in the infirmary, the way he comforts her is kind of father ish but there's still the friend element. Lots of respect for him. She loves that Peter got a second chance with MJ and now he has his little family.

★Jess: Reader sees her as a mentor and friend. Reader has a lot of respect for her! She's grateful to Jess for recruiting her into the Spider Society and not giving up after reader rejected the invitation the first few times. She wouldn't have her found family if Jess hadn't insisted.

★Miles: Out of all the other teenagers, reader has the strongest sibling sense with him in my head. It's supported by the way Miles's parents have taken her in by inviting her into their home and their family gatherings. They show her parent love sometimes, even though she's an adult and Miles also treats her like an older sibling, so he's truly like her little brother!

★Gwen: She's like reader's teenage sister. She can tell when Gwen is down, especially when Gwen thinks back to when she lost her version of Peter and what happened with her dad, so reader gets her to talk and cheers her up with something she baked.

★Pav: I love Pav and Hobie as new additions to the cast (obviously Miguel is included in this....), so I always have reader interacting with the two of them somehow. Pav is like a little brother, too! She hears him out whenever he needs to talk about Gayatri (both good and bad, though Pav and Gayatri never have bad moments, I don't think?), which reader also loves! She visits Pav's universe a lot and sometimes asks for hair advice from him. Reader usually sits with him and Hobie above the cafeteria watching other spider members. She just listens and watches as Pav mentions how "the chemistry is palpable" between certain spider members. He's always right...

★HoBiE!: Same as Pav but with Hobie there's a little difference because of Hobie's slightly older age. He seems like the type of person who can read people very well and reader is no exception. When she tries to play off something, he pushes her to be honest (same way he did with Gwen when she didn't tell Miles everything regarding the Spider Society and all of that). There was actually a deleted scene in part 9 when everyone shows up at the infirmary at the end (that made the cut) and he asks her if Miguel knows how he was found yet (reader's spidey senses going off and her actually finding him). She gets a little defensive and tells Hobie that she'll tell Miguel if he asks her, saying it's not important now that Miguel is safe. Pav is there, too and at reader's defensiveness, him and Hobie share a knowing look. Hobie's like the one that knows something is going on underneath the surface between reader and Miguel, at this point lowkey, and he gets worried that Miguel will end up hurting reader by pushing her away. Reader loves Hobie even if sometimes he pushes her out of her comfort zone by making her speak up or so, when she usually wouldn't.

★Margo: Same as Gwen, she's like a sister to reader. Reader always tries to cheer Margo up because she knows about her family life (I hope it gets better in the future). She offers her apartment as a place to stay if Margo needs to get away for a bit. It was mentioned in part 8 that Margo goes to sleep very late (I don't know why but Margo struck me as a night owl lol) and reader respectfully tells her to get proper rest because she gets worried about her. Reader wishes she could do more for Margo.

★Porker: Good friends with him. He let's her borrow some of his weapons he carries around because of his hammerspace, which reader finds fascinating (also the fact he can float in midair when he smells food?). Finds his universe interesting. One of his counterparts has beef with her. No, I won't elaborate right now.

★Noir: Sometimes the other spider members (not in the friend group) tease him about not being able to see colors or by the way he talks because of his time period, and reader defends him (this is when reader stands up). When they play board games on Friday nights and the colors matter she helps him! He really likes her apartment and loves her baking, which she's always happy to bake for (Noir gives me sweet tooth vibes). Also, he loves the fact that reader has her Peter's record player because, you know of his time period, so she loves telling him about her own Peter's music collection.

★Peni: She's also like a sister to reader. She noticed Peni likes to eat sweets when she works, so she always takes her little snacks. She's one of the youngest in the friend group so reader sees her as a little sister. Reader also loves Peni's robot and she admires Peni's abilities (girl literally made/fixed, I can't remember, a goober in ITSV so reader is always impressed.)

★Ben Reilly: I'm including him because I love him, too!! There's not many interactions with him and reader in the story but in the background they talk. They go on missions and work together. She has learned about his past and is more understanding towards him than other members are and because of that he really likes her... ★Lyla: She pushes reader's buttons sometimes but is that surprising? She still asks questions to reader when she's organizing the lab or working on the reports. Reader does love her though! She knows Lyla has kept Miguel company on days when he had no one else so for that, reader is very thankful. They have a little banter that sometimes makes Miguel wonder if Lyla would happily ditch him to work with reader 100% but he's not bothered by it though because it's reader and well...

★Miguel: He's her friend and confidant. She shares things with him she hasn't shared with the others. Her friend group is her found family, and Miguel is her best friend, though neither have said it yet but like, they keep referring to each other as "close friends" so... Loves spending time with him, especially outside of HQ! Still goes on missions with him and they sneak to the tallest building when they're done collecting anomaly matter. They eat paletas payaso and other Mexican candy that Miguel keeps hidden in his lab just for them just for her. 🤭She's very grateful that Miguel has opened up to her and trusts her with things he, too, has never shared with anyone else. She wishes she could comfort him in more ways but she's patient with him and respects his boundaries. She knows one day she might be able to but for now she comforts him however she can. They spend more time together now that they work on the reports and have dinners at each other's places. Finds his presence comforting. Loves his cooking! She'd do anything to see him happy again and for him to have his old life back.🥺 Wishes she could've met him when he had Gabriella and his wife. Wants to see him smile and laugh, like his true smile and laugh because she knows what she sees and hears is still somewhat reserved but she loves what she gets already because she knows no one else gets to see/hear him like this. She loves him as a close friend/best friend... for now.

I have a theory.

Life is so hard these days. Like not just an individual person struggling but just life in general seems to just be turning even the simplest task into this unnecessary swamp which just drains even the hardiest person.

(bear with me)

I think fandom - being, of course, made up of people - suffers not so much from not appreciating fanworks - art and writing and moodboards and edits and all the other things we love to make and share - but from this perpetual drain.

Let me explain: A new fan to a fandom might be very active and excited and involved at first, especially if they're a little neurodivergent and hyperfixating (or are the kind of person who takes rules literally like "reblog stuff!" and they thikn Yes! Rule! I can follow rules, look at me!)

But the problem is they've come into a fandom filled with people who are drained, like everyo else, and who are not new and fresh and overly excited, and here is what I think happens.

They follow The Rules(tm) as they understand it. Reblog stuff. Comment on stuff. Be exited. Be supportive. But they kind of start to notice they don't really receive that same level of support in return.

They don't really see a lot of people reblogging their own stuff. (Maybe it's because they're new and not a lot of people know them yet, maybe they just haven't found their niche, maybe a lot of things) but the excitement starts to kind of... wear a bit.

And maybe they still share their stuff but start to lose energy on being that engaged. Maybe they don't reblog as quickly as they did before. Maybe they don't bother commenting as often. Maybe they kind of feel worn out with wanting to be part of something exciting when it doesn't seem there is much excitemenet.

And they become one of the people that is exactly why everyone feels so drained and unenthusiastic and doesn't reblog or comment.

Everyone is so tired. Everyone wants to know someone enjoyed their stuff. Everyone wants to share. Everyone feels like they came into fandom "just a little too late". Everyone.

I think the problem isn't people don't care, I think it's that caring took so much out of them and they felt they got so little in return that they can't put that much effort in any longer.

And hoestly I don't blame them I'm right on that edge right now. I want so much to be the fan that everyone *says* they want but it doesn't feel like all that many people are doing it and it wears you down and then you find you are aslo not doing it because you just don't have the energy to read another 50 fics when yours gets like 3 comments.

But I want to just tell the whole fandom - maybe if we *all* tried just a little bit harder to be excited again we could all help one another feel more engaged and appreciated and maybe we could all get that support we all want to receive because we have just a bit more energy to give it.

When people ask for readers to comment or reblog or for art appreciators to reblog or send in notes or for people who spend hours making moodboards to get reblogged and "wow this vibes so well!" what we are doing is helping lift everyone up just a little more out of that swamp of apathy and loss of energy so maybe we can all feel better about it again.
