Chaos in Their Bones
Tumblr media
Ongoing Series
Synopsis: All your life you’d listened to your friend, Usopp spin wild tales about pirates and adventure. Pirates weren’t a thing that came often to Syrup Village, but one straw hat pirate and his crew changed all that the day they arrived. Now, you aren’t so sure if your sleepy little village was always pirate-free or if no one had been paying attention.
Pairing: Roronoa Zoro x Reader
Genre: friends to lovers, frienemies to lovers, slow burn (I hope y’all like aching) eventual smut
Words: 5k+
A/N: I told myself I wasn’t going to do this, so naturally I did it anyway. This is the first chapter in a planned series with a reader insert following the events of the OPLA universe. I sincerely hope that this is a story you all love as this is my first initial time writing for one of my beloved anime. But let’s be real, after seeing Mackenyu play Zoro (my fav) I knew I was going to be whipped from the start. The reader will go by “Doc” in this story at times, and later a nickname by Zoro himself.  As always, I hope you enjoy this. Much love, Jenn. Also, thank you @thegreatesttttttttt for indulging me.

The ringing of the bell thundered through the sky above. An upcoming warning of four words that would echo through the street's moments later.
“The pirates are coming!”
You could practically hear the rest of the town groan with a sigh. Their annoyance stunk up the streets as Usopp sounded the imaginary alarm as he usually did every day around this time. Maybe it was because you considered Usopp a friend that his tall tales and wild imagination didn’t bother you.
Instead, a sly smile tilted your lips as you continued to grind the seeds deep into the mortar. Mr. Edison’s gruff voice from outside your window reminded Usopp for the millionth time that he needed to stop as he sprinted past.
“What is that boy going on about?” Naan huffed.
You sent a quick glance behind your shoulder at the older woman who was currently folding the recently washed linens. All of them are used with a purpose to either staunch bloody wounds or for the simple purpose of relieving colds. Naan’s linens, like her home, were used for a multitude of healing services, with the only payment she accepted was that of the kindness of others around her.
“You already know, Naan,” you replied, your smile evident in your words. “It’s the usual afternoon reminder to stay on your toes.”
A deep chuckle came from behind you followed by the soft cough that came after.
“These toes can’t do very much standing. So, maybe tell your friend to give me a day of rest soon.”
“Usopp has done this every day for seven years. I don’t think anything anyone will ever say will make him stop.”
Even if you could get Usopp to stop, you wouldn’t be the one to make him. You weren’t sure how many people in town knew who his father was - or that he’d been a pirate. A father by suggestion, Usopp’s wild imagination could only recall small things from the stories his mother had been willing to share, and from those stories, even greater ones grew.
While everyone else may have found Usopp’s stories as an ever-present headache you knew they held a deeper meaning. They were the only thing he knew of a man he never got to know.
The sound of chair legs creaking across the floor cut you out of your thoughts. Just in time from the looks of the seed putty you’d created. A heavy thud on the boards informed you Naan grabbed her cane and the heavier shuffling of her feet that she was heading in your direction.
“What are you so intently making over here, child?”
Settling down the pestle, you reached over your workstation to grab a pot. You were going to need to fetch some water to bring everything to a bowl before you strained it into a jar.
“Water. I need to go get some water,” you murmured as you brought the pot down in front of you.
“Am I talking to myself?”
“Oh, I’m sorry, Naan. Did you say something?”
This time you did dare to look at her. Her deep-set wrinkles set impossibly deeper as she regarded your work from over your shoulder.
“Oh, I only asked what you were making that was stinking up my kitchen.”
Your eyes flew open wide as you took a deep breath in. You were sure the only thing you’d put in that maybe - maybe - smelled was the slippery elm, but you hadn’t even steeped it in the water yet. Naan must have read your panic before it began to stitch your brow together. Your eyes still helplessly peeled to the job in front of you instead of the chuckling woman behind you.
“It’s fine, child. I’m just teasing you.”
All your panic rushed out in a huff of air as your body finally turned to greet her. Your eyes instantly took in the very tired look of hers.
“You should get some rest, Naan.”
The two of you knew you meant well. You would never try and make Naan feel older than she already felt, except you didn’t give a damn about her feelings when you could easily spot the sweat on her upper lip. The way her body leaned more into the cane that supported her. She batted your concern away with a swat of her free hand. As if it would be enough to make whatever fear that gripped at your heart magically disappear.
“Don’t patronize me. I’m fine.”
“You are not fine. You're wheezing with every breath now-“
“I said I’m fine. Leave me alone and start worrying about whatever it is you’re making.”
“Well,  if you would stop interrupting me, maybe I could finish it!”
The irritation in your voice wasn’t hard to miss. Naan heard it too no doubt with the way her brow cocked as if begging you to repeat it.
The silence stretched uncomfortably between you. Naan wouldn’t even look at you - probably too scared to see your eyes pleading, full of worry for her to just go lay down.
Why must you always be so stubborn?
The question sat on your tongue and made your words form like molasses. You weren’t a child anymore. So, it begged the question of why you were still afraid to speak to her like an adult. It didn’t matter if what you said hurt her old feelings. Not when the thought of her not being around made your chest begin to spread wide like an aching chasm.
“You never did say what you were making.”
You pressed your tongue against your cheek while you debated if it would be worth it to try and argue with her. Of course, you were always the first one to relent and push it under the metaphorical rug.
“It’s a gift for Miss Kaya. Usopp told me her cough hadn’t changed and asked if I would make something for her.”
“Hmm,” Naan hummed in thought. “That boy is strange, but he is kind.”
“Not as strange as Kaya having an unknown illness the last few years and never seeking any aid from the town's doctor,” you grumbled.
Naan’s hand lightly clasped your shoulder in comfort - comfort you didn’t want to accept. Not only were thoughts of Naan being sick plaguing every ounce of free space in your brain but now so was Kaya. You’d only met her once when you were younger with Usopp and after her parents died that odd butler, Klahadore, kept her under strict observation.
In all the years you’d been with Naan, learning everything she could teach about healing, you’d found it odd that the staff never came to ask for help. You couldn’t recall a time when Sham or Buchi ever came down requesting any tonics or medicines from Naan, or for her to come with them to examine Kaya in the first place.
I wasn’t aware they were waitstaff and doctors.
You knew these thoughts would only dampen your mood until it turned completely sour. You just couldn’t stop the runaway train that was your thoughts from slipping back into questioning everything with the universe never giving you any new answers.
“How many times have I told you, child, we can’t make people get help. They have to seek it themselves and that- that is when the real healing begins.”
You were already bitter and that bitterness responded to Naan’s words in the form of an eye roll. One you were lucky the older woman didn’t see.
“It’s just not right.”
“Right or not, it’s not our place to go butting in.”
She stood behind you for a few more minutes waiting for a reply you didn’t give. You were done talking. Done trying to get her to understand that she was sick too and that all those years of molding words and actions to help others were what drove you to help her. To help Kaya. Only Usopp seemed to notice that something in her grand home wasn’t right.
Frustration drew tight across your chest causing your hands to seek support against the counter. For a split second, you imagined yourself splitting open and becoming two separate people. One being the doctor Naan trained you to be and the other something less controlled. Someone who was tired of listening but never being heard.
You listened as Naan began to retreat back to her table where the rest of the linens waited to be folded. You listened as another terrible cough violently shook itself free from her lungs as you focused on your work.
If you couldn’t help Naan you were just going to settle for helping Miss Kaya. Once you finished making Usopp’s requested medicine you were going to be sure he delivered it to her.
It was time a doctor paid a visit.
————
The shipyard.
Of course, Usopp was going to be here. Why you hadn't thought to come here first felt like a mystery all on its own.
In all the years you’d known him, Usopp’s routine hardly ever changed. He usually performed his usual pirate ritual just before he started his day in the shipyard. He was hired to care for and clean all of the ships housed within, however, and upon no real surprise to you, Usopp cleaned and polished the Going Merry daily.
So, it didn’t surprise you to find him already on the ship. What did surprise you were the three people standing with him steps away from the Going Merry, herself.
You didn’t feel alarmed in any way. Usopp was good with people - he enjoyed talking to anyone willing to listen. The man with the straw hat, who was grinning wildly in the direction of Usopp and then to his friends, seemed happy to listen. He was giving Usopp his full attention and whatever your friend was saying was exactly what Straw Hat wanted to hear.
The other two people beside him, however, didn’t seem to share in the excitement. Sure, the pretty woman with the orange hair was giving all the perfect signaling queues of a smile and nod to make it believable that she was interested in anything Usopp had to say. Did she probably care about whatever was being said? Probably not, but at least she didn’t look as sour as the moss-hair-colored guy-
Holy shit
Your feet stopped working. Your knees seemed to refuse to bend, to make any movement forward for the last few feet to close the distance to the group. For what reason? There had to be a perfectly good reason-
Nope. Thoughts gone. Head empty.
That was the best way to describe what was currently happening as your eyes stayed glued to the three-sword-wielding swordsman standing next to the woman.
Three swords? You wondered. Where does the other one go?
Maybe you would ask him if you ever summed up the courage to do just that. If you could just get your legs to function again.
In all the time you’d lived on Shell Island you were more than positive you’d never seen someone that looked close to him. Especially someone carrying around three swords or standing with so much purpose. Even as your eyes took him in you could tell he was pretending to be relaxed, but after years of mending bodies, you noticed the tightness between his shoulder blades. The ease he tried to display with a hand resting on the hilt of the sword wasn’t actually resting. Even relaxed, this man was ready to unsheathe those blades and use them at a moment's notice.
While the idea made you consider him a great swordsman, your heart also ached at the thought of feeling trapped and weary of others' intentions.
Your thoughts would’ve continued to run wild as you embarrassingly gawked at this stranger and his friends. All of that was ruined, however, when Usopp caught a glimpse of you between orange and green hair.
“Doc!”
Usopp’s excitement translated to a crazy arm wave and immediately caused all three of his newfound friends to face you. God, this meant you had to get your legs working. You had to physically move closer. You could do that. No problem.
Taking in a deep breath, you allowed a genuine smile to raise your lips in welcome. Luckily, your feet didn’t betray you as you moved the last few feet. You made a mental note as you got closer that the straw hat was meeting your smile with his own, while the other two regarded you with lackluster enthusiasm.
Great. They were the grumpy types of people.
“There you are Usopp,” you began cheerfully. “I’ve been looking all over for you.”
“You know, Usopp?” Asked straw hat.
You felt your brow crease in question as your smile wilted at the corners.
“I would hope so. We’ve known each other since we’ve lived here.”
“Impressive,” mumbled the woman.
Okay, maybe she wasn’t as friendly as you originally thought, but she was still definitely friendlier than moss hair. Who currently felt like he was drilling holes into your chest.
“Ugh, Doc I was just going to take these guys to visit, Kaya,” Usopp interjected.
He was still smiling - always smiling. His eyes darted to the three new faces before landing back at you.
“Why would you take them to see, Kaya?”
“She owns the shipyard and we-“Straw hat interjected, “Are in need of a ship. That beautiful ship behind us, to be exact.”
You glanced behind him to the Going Merry. Kaya’s family ship.
You shot Usopp a questioning glance that you weren’t surprised to see him ignore. He was up to something there was no doubting that. The issue was you weren’t sure what angle he was trying to play.
“Good luck with that.”
You did mean it. You didn’t think he was going to get it no matter how good-natured he seemed. That was still a family memory you weren’t sure Kaya would be willing to part with.
“Thanks!”
“Doc, before I take them over there do you by chance have what I asked for?”
You patted your satchel for good measure before you replied, “That’s why I was looking for you. I have it right here.”
Usopp took a step towards you, his hand outstretched in waiting for you to deposit the bottle. When you didn’t comply with his request he shot you a look of worry.
“You do have it right?”
“Yes, Usopp I told you I did. I just want to come with you to check on her myself.”
A look of worry dimmed the mirth in his eyes for one second. If you didn’t know what to look for you would have missed it entirely. You knew he’d been asking you for months to sneak in with him to visit Kaya. His own suspicions began to outweigh the doubt that plagued his heart with every heavy decision that needed to be made.
Deep down, Usopp knew if you were finally going to answer his request of sneaking in with him, it must be serious. A concept Usopp himself purposely tried to run from often.
“Wait, you’re a doctor? That is so cool!”
You needed to learn Straw Hat’s name because he was growing on you fast.
“I’m no-“
“She’s actually one of the best doctors in the whole East Blue,” Usopp beamed. “She’s cured this small village of at least two possible plague outbreaks twice already.”
You were willing to bet your eyes were the size of saucers. There was no way any of them would believe that kind of nonsense. There was absolutely no way-
“Wow, now that is really impressive! Sounds just like somebody who should be a part of my crew-“
“No!”
“We are not a crew!”
The absolute verbal whiplash you just experienced left your head reeling to pick up on every conversation. Straw Hat was practically turning into pure sunshine in front of you, while the other two were glaring like you’d sprouted three heads.
Geez, what a tough crowd.
“Ok, wait what?”
“It’s nothing he doesn’t mean anything by it,” the woman replied, a tight smile thinning out her lips.
“We don’t need someone pretending to play medicine woman to join us.”
Your eyes narrowed in on the now green-haired monster. He met your cold glance with his own. Whoever - whatever - he experienced in his life meant he didn’t find you the least bit threatening. He regarded you like an annoyance and you found yourself wondering why the universe made all the grumpy ones the most attractive.
If his lips pouted any harder he was going to have to rent a kissing booth.
“For your information, I’m not a pretend doctor.”
Whatever he was going to reply with was cut off by Straw hat who quickly pointed at himself. “I’m Luffy, and these are my companions Nami and Zoro.”
“It’s nice to meet you, Luffy,” you beamed letting them know your name in response. “But most people just refer to me as Doc because of Usopp.”
Nami clapped her hands together to bring you both back to the matter at hand. Kaya’s medicine. Their boat.
“Now that the pleasantries are out of the way, can we get going? We really should stop by and pay her a visit.”
“Oh yeah! Come on guys, I can show you the fastest way there.”
Usopp tossed down his rag and skipped backward to the crate where his own satchel sat.
“Great! If you guys will kindly follow me this way I can show you something really awesome.”
You wanted to smack some sense into him. Usopp always wanted to be liked - for people to spend time with him and enjoy it. Besides Kaya and you who humored him with his opulent imagination and ability to spin fables like cotton candy. These people, Luffy excluded, did not deserve his endearing desire for friendship. They were both giving off major chip on their shoulder vibes and you vowed to become an even bigger pain in the ass if they were unnecessarily rude to him.
They didn’t wait to know if you were joining them or even behind them. They all moved forward to follow Usopp, who was spit-firing a conversation at Luffy who easily seemed to match it with his own charisma. Nami and Zoro trudged behind them both and you brought up the rear.
You’d hoped at some point Luffy or Usopp would drag you into the conversation. Anything that would keep your wandering eyes from constantly burrowing holes between Zoro’s sculpted shoulders. If you didn’t locate some form of self-control soon, you were positive your brain would be sent spinning into a tangent about how martial arts training with weapons was a godsend. So, looking at your feet for the next few miles would have to suffice.
It was strange how the world between poverty and the rich was such an overwhelming force. The farther you ventured out past the town and into the privacy of the landscape that kept Kaya’s family home hidden, it was a wonder that anyone would know it was there.
There were endless strawberry fields that farmers planted on one side and potatoes on the other. Dozens of workers tended to their growth with their hard work and sweat until a wall of bamboo cut off any view. All you could see was an endless path swallowed in bamboo branches making the path more foreboding than you thought necessary.
When you finally came in through the front gates, their iron and mortar was a welcomed sight. The one thing that wasn’t was that stupid Well you’d grown to hate ever since you almost fell in looking over the side as a child.
“I’ve never seen a house this big before.”
Luffy’s admission sent your eyes up from your feet to the large garden entrance. And that damned well that sat like a mockery in the middle of the walkway to the front.
“It’s impressive, right? Kaya’s given me an open invitation to stop by anytime I want.”
Your eyes darted over to Usopp who was practically skipping with excitement as he and Luffy made their way over to the well. You wanted him to look at you, but you knew he wouldn’t. If he did, Usopp would only find you looking at him - full of questions - with a look calling him a liar. You would never want him to feel bad. It was never your intention, however, it was going to be more embarrassing if you all got caught and thrown out on your ass than just being honest.
“Wow. That’s pretty awesome,” Luffy breathed. His face was full of wonder as he continued to take in the large space. “All of this is just for one person?”
“Well…she lives here with a few other staff.”
“Yeah. A bunch of asshole staff,” you grumbled under your breath.
By the way, Luffy and Usopp were hanging over the side of the well - ick - neither of them had heard you. Unfortunately, your fellow rear buddies did.
“You don’t seem to be a fan of the staff?” Nami ventured.
You eyed her carefully. She came off friendly enough, but she wasn’t giving anything else away. The small smile on her lips wasn’t reaching her eyes. Instead, they were calculating and waiting for you to give her any information you were willing or unwilling to give.
Nami was incredibly smart and equally dangerous because of it.
“They do a lot of suspicious things,” you replied slowly, unsure of how much sharing was too much.
“I’m sure butlers don’t come harboring life-threatening secrets,” Zoro countered.
His hand shoved in a pocket while the other still rested on the sword. He regarded you the way adults do children making up fairytales. The way the townspeople looked at Usopp like a silly child always crying wolf. They both thought you were being silly, and you wish you could say their disregard didn’t make your chest cave in just a bit, but you never were a good liar.
“No, maybe butlers don’t,” you countered, “but people do.”
When neither of them showed signs of continuing on with the conversation you started forward following Usopp and Luffy. You didn’t care about whatever conversation Zoro or Nami were having behind you. They could’ve been discussing robbing the place blind for all you could care about.
You were worried more about the people than the objects inside.
“If you have an invitation, why are we going through the back way?”
Just tell them, Usopp.
“Oh, well I never go through the front entrance. This is more of a VIP entrance.”
“This guy is full of shit.”
“Yeah, but if he gets us inside who cares.”
Why was Luffy the only member of this merry band of misfits who weren’t incredibly grumpy?
“Usopp,” you called out to him in a warning.
He gave you a glance over his shoulder before he made his way over the giant lily pads without a reply.
Little shit, you thought as you realized he was very much choosing to ignore your existence. Did you blame him? Not really. You couldn’t remember the last time anyone had humored him this long and you were debating on if you should be the one to crush his newfound hopes and dreams.
Fortunately for you, you weren’t going to have to be the bad guy in that scenario. One already seemed to exist.
Just as Usopp reached the second lily pad, you knew something was wrong. The hiccup of an, “Oh,” that came out of him registering as panic. He was already turning back to stop Luffy from coming closer, almost begging him to go to another entrance - an extra special one - when he was interrupted by a knife plunging into the lily pad between his feet.
A very sharp knife. One you knew could’ve easily severed flesh or nicked an artery. Your blood boiled as you pushed past Luffy, your eyes darting wildly as Buchi stalked towards Usopp who stuttered past a greeting.
“What the hell are you doing here, Usopp?” He snapped as his hands lurched in to grasp the leather of Usopp’s top. “You know you aren’t welcome here.”
“I know nothing of the sort. I came to give Kaya an extra-special gift.”
You practically glided past the last lily pad when a sharp hiss cut the air. You didn’t necessarily need to look to see if it was Sham. You knew it was. She stood just off the first step from where they’d been disemboweling the hog, mop at the ready, and her teeth bared directly at you.
“He’s brought the doctor,” she hissed.
Buchi finally seemed to register your presence from behind Usopp and bared his own teeth in warning.
“You are definitely not welcome here.”
“A rather odd thing to say to a healer when your mistress seems to be suffering a mysterious illness.”
“An illness we are more than capable of handling.”
“I find that highly doubtful.”
With his hands still holding onto Usopp, Buchi leaned forward to growl - literally growl - in your face like a rabid dog. You wanted to poke him in the eye and were incredibly tempted to do so when a soft voice cut through the tension.
“Usopp! What a wonderful surprise!”
Everyone’s attention shifted as Kaya made her entrance on the arm of Klahadore. You took a step back and away from the two just so Usopp could twist himself free and walk towards the waiting mistress of the estate.
“I wouldn’t miss today of all days. Happy birthday, Kaya.”
“You remembered.”
My god, she was practically swooning and Usopp was eating it up.
“I could never forget.”
This feels awkward.
They acted like they didn’t have a captive audience watching them look at each other like two lovestruck teenagers.
It wasn’t hard to notice how Kaya beamed at him or how that attention brought happiness to Usopp. For as long as you can remember, even as children, Usopp always liked her. Sure, he would play it off as if they were just friends. There was no way she could see him that way, but when Kaya’s parents passed away three years ago what was between them seemed to change. Their feelings became something saturated in an understanding of loss. Usopp knew what Kaya needed because it was something he himself had never truly received.
So, did it bother you that she actually hadn’t greeted you yet? Not really. What did bother you, however, was the way Klahadore’s eyes slithered over to you. It made you feel like you were going to be sick.
“Usopp. Did you bring the doctor with you?”
Please, let me crawl into a hole and die.
There was something off about Klahadore. It wasn’t just because he made your skin want to completely crawl off your body. It was the way he sounded every alarm bell in your brain. The way your heart speeds up triggering the fight or flight response that was ingrained in your body's defense system. The way he continued to look at you as if you were a bug that needed to be squashed, only drove the feeling home.
“Oh, yeah. Kaya, I had Doc make you something for your cough. I figured it might be worth a try.”
God, he looked so happy. He was completely oblivious to how Klahadore seemed ready to smite you both where you stood.
You closed your eyes, taking in a deep breath. Maybe when you opened them he wouldn’t be staring daggers into your face.
Nope. No such luck.
“Oh, that is so incredibly sweet,” Kaya beamed.
Klahadore slowly set his hand out in front of him. The cold obsidian of his eyes never left your face as he spoke. “Please hand over whatever tonic you’ve acquired for Miss Kaya.”
You weren’t aware your hand was already in the satchel. Your fingers wrapped protectively tight against the cool glass of the bottle as you continued to stare at one another.
“Hand it over. Please.”
“No-“
Usopp’s hand on your shoulder stopped you cold. Your teeth ground tightly to stop your next words. You didn’t want to hand that asshole anything. Not when Kaya looked so damn pale.
Something is wrong.
The thought wormed its way into your brain until it gnawed at all other thoughts until it consumed every available spot. It was all you could think as your eyes continued to look over her frail frame.
Naan taught you that as a doctor, and as a healer, it was your job to fight for your patients. To always do what you could and what was best for their care. Was giving the medicine you made for Kaya to Klahadore best for her care.
No. No, it sure as shit didn’t feel like it.
Maybe that was why it felt like such a betrayal to take the medicine from your bag and drop it inside his gloved hand. You watched as his disgusting white fingers wrapped around the gray bottle and brought it up to rest closely to his chest.
“Now, Usopp we’ve had this discussion about coming here unannounced - and this time with a doctor.”
“Nonsense, Klahadore,” Kaya interjected. “They are my friends. What a sweet gesture it was, Doc to try and make me something. Usopp, did you come to tell me more stories about your adventures?”
“I can do you one better. I brought some of my crew.”
With a sweep of his arm, Usopp introduced Luffy, Nami, and Zoro who registered this gesture with sheer disbelief. Well, disbelief would be putting it mildly.
“Is he talking about us?”
Luffy sounded as confused as you felt.
“I’m sorry, but we do not have any room for any extra guests tonight, I’m afraid.”
“Oh please, Klahadore couldn’t they at least stay for dinner? It is my birthday.”
You hated how Kaya had to beg to have company that wasn’t her staff. You could vaguely remember the butler who was in charge before Klahadore had arrived. Mr. Thorburr had been an absolute delight and genuinely seemed to care about Kaya and her family’s wellbeing. If he was still in charge, you were positive he would’ve believed in letting Kaya outside to enjoy the garden or have friends stop by, even unannounced, to visit.
One day he was just gone and slowly the only staff that was left were these three assholes. It all felt awfully convenient or maybe you were just being petty because you disliked them.
The way Klahadore looked at her made your stomach turn.
“Anything for you, Miss Kaya.”
You wondered if he choked a little over each word as they traveled up his throat.
“Great!” Luffy shouted. “When do we eat?”
“You don’t. Not dressed like that. You will change and bathe before dinner. No exceptions.”
Everyone was willing to accept the invitation. The premise of a bath seemed enough to make Nami practically skip forward to be led inside by Sham. Your feet, however, refused to move. Usopp, Luffy, and Nami practically took the small stairs up to the patio in one giant leap. Your earlier dread from the day was back and something dark borrowed its way into your chest.
Something is wrong.
You were about to turn tail and run when you noticed Zoro stop at the edge of the stairs. His body turned slightly to eye Klahadore one last time before he turned to follow after his crew. It was small and barely lasted a second, but it was enough.
Zoro noticed something wasn’t right either and maybe, just maybe, he’d be the one to believe you. All you had to do was join him inside the house to talk to him. No biggie.
Taking in a deep breath you finally moved to follow behind Kaya and Klahadore. Your eyes intently following a particular green-haired swordsman and wondering how you were going to get him alone.
The showers seemed like a great place to start.

MEANT TO BE ❤️‍🔥
Tumblr media
No outbreak!Joel Miller x f!reader
Summary: You and Joel seemed you were meant to be, but he broke your heart thinking he was doing you a favor. You're back in town and Tommy ends up inviting you to his brother's birthday party
(I don't know if this will be a series or not, but enjoy it ❤️)
Warnings: screwed up timeline (no outbreak but the story takes place nowadays, Joel's in his mid/late forties, Sarah is in her late teens/early twenties), age gap (reader is in her mid/late 20s because well, she's me), angst, hurt, breakups, broken hearts, two idiots in love, fluff
A/N: I don't know besties, this is just a very specific scenario that got stuck with me for DAYS because all I do is daydream I'm Joel's housewife and well, I had to write it down eventually because just imagining it wasn't enough I had to share. Also, this is extremely self-inserted so I'm sorry if you guys don't like it but I deserve to be happy with Joel 😭

"So, you're breaking up with me Joel? Is that it?" You asked him, pacing the living room, trying to hold back your tears and not let the anxiety get the best of you just yet, and instead, look at the situation with a rational attitude. Joel couldn't possibly be breaking up with you, not after the time you spent together, - a short one, you had to admit, but it was enough to see you two were meant to be together. Everyone seemed to agree. His brother was nothing but nice and sweet to you, sometimes even protective of you, as if you were his sibling and not Joel, his daughter was thrilled to see her dad in a relationship after a lifetime of loneliness, even if you didn't see each other very often, only when Sarah was home from her school breaks, always making Joel the proudest dad to see her impeccable grades, a clear reflection of the scholarship she got, she was always so friendly, treating well the woman his dad loved, because she knew he deserved to be happy.
And your family? They really liked Joel too. Your parents admired him for being so hardworking and successful in his business, the way he managed to raise a daughter by himself and your grandmother simply loved Joel. She was a supporter of your relationship from the beginning, always telling you to ignore any mean comments you might get just because he was older than you or anything like that, she just loved to see how good Joel was to you, how happy he made you and what a gentleman he was whenever he visited your family, despite being nervous and blushing slightly like a young boy. And for that, your grandma always baked him cookies or cakes, just a small, sweet way to thank him for being so good to you.
So it came as a shock, when he broke up with you.
"Yes, Y/N I'm breaking up with you" he said simply and looked down, his heart clenched and he felt so upset to be letting you go, but he knew he had to, you had been offered a great job, a great opportunity, high salary and you couldn't just stay with him, living a small town housewife life, you had so much potential, you were so pretty and full of life, Joel didn't want to trap you there, you deserved better than that, you deserved to be successful and free, and not with an old guy like him, Joel didn't have the same education you did and he felt bad about it, he would never want to embarrass you because of it.
"You and I are never gonna work, we had our fun, it was nice, but you want to live your life and I've already loved through all that. I've been married and I'm not marrying you, Y/N. You want kids and I don't want any more kids, we're incompatible, can't you see that?" He said "just take your job and go live your life, think of us as an adventure and nothing else…"
You swallowed and took one step forward, grabbing his shirt and making him look at you "w-was I just an adventure to you?" You needed to know the truth, it didn't feel like just an adventure to you at least, it felt like true love, intense and real. You thought Joel was the real deal, you thought that maybe you found each other and you would stay together, of course the opportunity you received was good, but you were ready to give it all up. You'd never thought of your life together as something bad, you liked the simple, you liked the calm quiet evenings with Joel, you liked waiting for him with dinner ready after a long day of work, and all that because you loved Joel and up until then you assumed he loved you too. He sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose, his hand running through his hair as he sighed
"Yes, you were an adventure, you were a hot young girl giving me your attention and your body, I enjoyed it a lot at first, but now it's just getting old" he sighed, hating himself for breaking your heart, but he also knew that was the only way you would leave him behind and start living your life. He was lying, he would marry you, he had actually already bought a ring, a very simple one though, he wished he could buy you something better, but he had gone with the cheapest option and now he felt ashamed of it.
"Just… don't make this too hard on the two of us, leave and take the job, you will be happier that way" Joel turned his back at you and waited until he heard you slamming the door. He sighed and tried blinking back his tears, he hated to seem weak and vulnerable around whoever it was.
•••
Eight months had passed ever since you broke up with Joel, or rather Joel broke up with you. Eight months you'd left Austin behind and moved to a bigger city, got into a better-paid job and made more money. Eight months you were earning well but you were feeling miserable, because you were away from your family, your friends and the man you loved, even if he didn't love you back, even if you were nothing but an adventure to him, you still missed him everyday.
It wasn't just the sex - although that party took a heavy toll on you, as it was so intense, good and hot. You had never been fucked properly until Joel Miller fucked you, that was for sure. But you missed the everyday with him. The domesticity with him, the evenings spent together, the lazy weekends you would stay in his bed, just cuddling, sleeping, fucking and doing it all over again. You missed how his big, rough hands would hold you at night, how you would snuggle closer looking for his warmth, or how you'd play with his hair as Joel rested his head on your lap whenever he watched some cheesy action movie.
Yes, the money was good, you couldn't deny it was good being able to pay for your expenses and also save money and also spoil yourself to clothes, shoes, restaurants and anything else really, that part was great, but you would be lying if you said you wouldn't trade that for a happy life with Joel in a heartbeat; you hated to be still in love with him, he didn't deserve your love, you knew that. He had treated you just like an adventure, like an ordinary affair he could enjoy as he pleased and then discard you once he got tired of it. Still, it puzzled you how genuine he seemed, how caring and lovely he was towards you, how he actually made you believe he loved you. You felt cheated, tricked, and embarrassed to think you were so easy to fool like Joel had done to you.
One of the perks of your job, was able to take a few short trips to your hometown every couple of months, it was good to revisit your family, especially after your grandmother fell ill and you felt the need to see her as much as you could, but with those trips back to town always brought your fear of encountering Joel.
You didn't know how you'd react to seeing him again, maybe you would feel emotional? Or sad? Would your heart still beat fast? Probably a mix of those all.
You shook your head wanting to push those thoughts aside and got ready to enter the clothes store downtown when you heard someone calling your name. You knew that voice, but thought maybe you were just confused, but still, you turned around and saw as a smiley Tommy Miller walked towards you
"Y/N hey… you look great! Nice seeing you?" He was definitely the friendly brother.
"Hey Tommy, I missed you. How've you been?"
"Good.." he placed his hand on his hips - very similar to his brother - and the two of you made some small talk, catching up on things as you hadn't seen each other in nearly a year. "So listen… it's Joel's birthday today, I don't know if you remember" you nodded with a sad smile "and well, I'm throwing him a party tonight, maybe you should show up, I know he was a dick to you, but I'm sure he didn't mean it, he misses you a lot" you bit your lips and shrugged softly, and Tommy didn't need to say anything else. He just hugged you goodbye and told you again how nice it was to see you.
•••
"You did what?" Joel asked with annoyance and shock as his brother stood in his kitchen, a bottle of beer in hand as he placed the plastic bag with a few things for Joel's party that night. Tommy blew the air out of his mouth and scratched the back of his neck "what? You like her, I mean, no, you love her, Joel, so I thought you'd appreciate it if she showed up, it would be like a nice present to you after all" he shrugged simply as it made perfect sense in his mind. Joel, on the other hand, couldn't believe how stupid his brother was. How could he simply invite you as if nothing had gone on between the two of you.
"First you simply plan a party without even asking me, inviting a bunch of people I don't even know-"
"Because you have no friends…" Tommy interrupted and it made Joel's blood boil, he gritted his teeth and took a deep breath
"What I am saying is that I didn't want a party and now I will have to face a party I didn't want and possibly with the presence of a girl whose heart I broke and-"
"You broke her heart because you are a moron" Tommy shrugged again and folded his arms "you are a real big fat moron who can't see shit even if it's hanging in front of you! You love her and she loves you, and don't give me that pathetic talk about you not wanting to trap her because I know you bought her a fucking ring, Joel! A ring! And if you had proposed she'd be here, either planning the things for your wedding or you'd be already married, and don't start with the shitty baby talk either because you practically drool when you see her holding a kid, I'm sure if she asked you'd be on your second Miller kid right now!" Tommy told his brother, running out of patience at how stubborn his older brother was "so yeah, I invited Y/N and I doubt she'll come because you are a dick and you don't deserve her attention, in fact you don't even deserve this party, I was just trying to do something nice for you, so I'm sorry I'm such a terrible brother" Tommy groaned and went upstairs.
Joel didn't want to admit it, but he did spend the whole day checking his phone every five minutes to see if he'd get any messages from you. Joel was a man to receive and give phone calls, he didn't like texting, but most people insisted on doing that so he had to surrender, even his daughter would rather text than call, which Joel hated but he had to do it eventually. On your birthday, Joel spent the whole day battling if he should text you or not, on one hand he didn't want to simply pretend he had forgotten about your special day; on the other hand he didn't want to make things weird between the two of you, well, more like, more weird. What was he supposed to say?
"Hey babe, happy birthday 🎈 I know I said you were just an adventure but I miss you"
No, that'd be too awkward, so eventually he went to bed that day and ended up not texting you.
Another thing Joel didn't also want to admit was how he had showered, applied some cologne and put on the flannel shirt you always told him looked good in him before the party started. Fortunately, his argument with Tommy didn't change any of his plans and in the evening people started to arrive. Joel smiled politely, made some small talk, thanked people for the gifts but he kept glancing at the door frequently, always in hopes to see you walking in. He felt so stupid for even expecting that, so he tried focusing on his party. He saw the girls his brother had invited but didn't care about any of them; they all chatted and giggled and Joel watched it from afar as if he were an outsider at his own birthday party. Joel grabbed a beer and walked outside, sitting by the front steps and watched as the hours passed by and people eventually began leaving the party. He just enjoyed his own presence, knowing you wouldn't come, clearly you'd never come again and he had to face that, at the same time he silently thought of what his life had been like and what was left for him to do in the future, when a voice snapped him out of his thoughts.
"Joel?" You called him, hesitantly at first, as you swallowed and looked around, it was kind of crazy to show up at your ex's birthday party after he dumped you in a cruel way like he did, but you also felt like you had to do it, ever since Tommy had invited you, something in your heart begged and screamed for you to go see Joel even if it was the last time.
When he saw you, his eyes widened, he didn't trust them at first thinking it was just a trick of his longing imagination, but as you walked towards him, he could see you were real. And you looked gorgeous, making that fool old man's heart beat fast.
"Darlin'..." He said but you placed your index finger gently against his lips, the way his beard tickled you brought a warmth within and you felt like you could melt at that moment.
"I'm here just to wish you a happy birthday" you said with a sad smile and handed him a bag. Joel frowned softly, clueless to what it was but a soft smile appeared on his face as he saw it was his watch. He had forgotten about it as it had been so long since the last time he saw it.
"Remember your watch stopped working after we jumped in the pool on the last fourth of July we spent together? I had it fixed but then we bro-" you interrupted yourself "anyway, I know it's been a while but it's yours"
"Thank you darlin' I don't even know what to say… it's already a gift you're here tonight" Joel could swear he was blushing and that embarrassed him, he was a grown man and shouldn't be acting like that, but still, there he was.
"Did you get the cake?" You questioned him curiously and only then Joel noticed you had a second bag in hands
"I forgot" he rubbed the back of his neck and you laughed softly, that was just so Joel it felt kind of stupid.
"So this is yours too…" you offered him the second to which he grabbed it even more puzzled. Two presents? Joel Miller was a simple man, and quite shy, he didn't know how to act properly when he was given gifts, let alone two in a row and especially when it came from you.
It was his turn to laugh when he found a box with cupcakes inside. He raised his eyes from them and smiled at you, taking you by the hand with no warning and sitting you next to him, on the front step.
He helped himself to one and insisted for you to take another, and even if you should have just wished him a happy birthday and driven back home, you obliged and took a small bite of yours, and that cupcake was indeed really good.
After the cupcakes were long gone, you and Joel still caught up on everything: he told you about his job and you told him about yours; you asked him about Sarah and he asked you about your grandmother's health, just random, ordinary things like it should be between two people who once knew everything about each other and now spent long enough apart to step on eggshells around each other. Though the party had pretty much ended, Tommy's playlist was still at full steam inside the house and when Joel recognized that guitar strumming he smiled, the lyrics coming back to him as it took him back to one of his favorite moments with you.
"Listen, it's our song"
"What?" You frowned softly "our song? What do you mean?" You questioned curiously not exactly knowing where he wanted to get.
"Californication, it's our song" he blushed softly and felt upset to see that maybe you didn't remember the summer night you spent listening to music sitting in the back of his truck, and how you two sang it together. Maybe that wasn't as special to you as it was to him, but at that night he'd felt so young, so full of life and hope. You finally nodded and closed your eyes, listening to it and thinking of the same sweet memory you and Joel shared.
"I just didn't know it was our song, Joel" you said amused and he shrugged, getting to his favorite part of the song and taking your hand in his, your eyes locked as his lips moved
"Marry me girl, be my fairy to the world, be my very own constellation"
He sang along, even if it wasn't a romantic song, that part was for you, it had always been for you. When he saw you sing that specific part of the song for the first time he knew he wanted to marry you, he wanted you to be his fairy to his world and be his very own constellation. It was cheesy, but he didn't care, he was just in love at the time, and he continued so.
You blushed and looked down, knowing it was time to go, but before you could get up, he squeezed your hand gently
"Do you want to get inside?" His eyes were full of hope, maybe and just maybe you could say yes and you could maybe pick up from where you left off but you shook your head "I'm sorry, I have to go Joel" you got up and ignored his sad eyes, even if they were your weakness, you two were finished and there was nothing you could do about it.
"Joel?" You called one last time and he got up, walking to you, still hopeful you'd give him any crumble of affection.
"Yeah?" His voice was a soft purr, the anticipation burning bright inside of him
"Happy birthday" you said and went to your car, leaving him standing there, his mind full of might-have-beens and his heart breaking as it did every time you walked away from him.
_____
A/N: don't yell at me besties, i've had this idea of joel being sure he would want to marry reader (me/us) while listening to this part of the song and Californication is a very delicate subject as I sang this song in a karaoke session at the mall yesterday in front of hundreds of people and I was so nervous at first but then I relaxed and had such a great time and it was amazing 😭 I know it's not a romantic song but I want those lyrics to be about joel and his beautiful wife 😭 I hope you've liked it besties ❤️

Ok ok ok so random thought as I’m watching house of wax. So briefly Jonesy (the dog) is shown in Vincent’s workshop and other places around the movie. She’s the family dog so I just had this thought: What if Puppy! Jonesy was given to sister! reader as a present when she was a child, before Bo accidentally pushed her and she got sent away? What if when reader comes back to Ambrose, Jonesy recognizes her first and immediately starts following reader around and being super affectionate and protective towards her, while defensive and ready to bite anyone else. And that’s how the bros realize it’s their baby sister? Maybe you could make this into a fic or something I just think it’s cute 🥺💜
Hello there! I have to admit that I've got a loooot of requests to post (and that I'm super late), but I was just so excited about this one!! I really loved this idea, and I so wanted to write an alternative version of Missing Piece of Ambrose, so it's perfect.
I got carried away and I wrote 3 parts for this.
For the people who don't know yet, I'm creating baby sister!Sinclair AUs (reader insert). One is about baby sister who grew up with her brothers, the other one is about her being separated from them when they were still children. You can find all of this in my way too long Masterlist here.
Anyways, I really hope you'll enjoy this because I loved writing for this a lot. Thanks a lot for this request. <3 <3
JONESY KNOWS (Part I)
Warnings: Female reader but no physical description, mention of physical pain, of blood, of killing, Bo being upset, Vincent attacking you (but not hurting you), Jonesy being the best dog ever
Here you were, in the middle of nowhere, because some idiot, at the last station service you went to, gave you a wrong direction. You were supposed to find yourself on a national road, but you were actually on a very small and desertic one. The sun was hot and you didn’t have any water left. You also drove on an obstacle you didn’t see because of the bright light, which bursted three tires. And because you clearly were out of luck, there was no connection where you were. You were tired, you just wanted to arrive at your hotel and start your holidays. For now, it was looking a lot like the beginning of a Wrong Turn movie, and you hated it.
You remembered that you saw a sign for a town called Ambrose a few miles ago. The sign had clearly seen better days, but maybe the place still existed. You decided to walk, because there was nothing else you could do. You hoped your knee wasn’t going to let you down though. Because of some accident that happened to you when you were still a child, your knee was often hurting you. You had no memory of what happened and your adoptive parents never wished to speak about it. You weren’t too curious about it either, you just thought that you used to be a very adventurous child and that you must have fallen from a tree or something like that. You had always loved to climb on things, so you wouldn’t be too surprised you hurt yourself like that.
You sighed as you started to walk on the dusty road. You could already hear your mother tell you that really, you shouldn’t have left on your own, that it was dangerous, that actually, you should have stayed home. You could hear her concern when you would finally be able to call her and let her know that you weren’t at your hotel yet. You thought you really needed to call her or text her soon or she was going to call the cops. Your adoptive parents had always been overprotective with you, as if they always were worried something could happen to you. Or maybe they were like this because your adoptive brother never let them dote on him that way. You weren’t too close to him, especially because he was often away for work, but you enjoyed chatting with him from time to time. He was the one who gave you the idea to visit the South of the country, and you weren’t too sure why it upsetted your parents that much. You swore you even heard them argue with your brother after that. But you were happy to be away from them for a couple of days. You liked being on your own for once… You just wished you weren’t lost in the middle of nowhere with no working car or phone.
After a few moments of walking, you heard a truck coming your way. You weren’t too sure what to do, so you put your thumb up and prayed for the person to stop. You found yourself in front of a young man, with a very bright smile. His window was down so you truly were face to face with him.
“What’s up?” he asked you with a very strong southern accent.
“My car let me down. I was walking toward that town.. Hmm… Ambrose I think it’s called. I was hoping someone could help me” you explained to the man who seemed very attentive to what you were saying.
“Oh yeah, my bro’ll fix ya up” he promised and your eyes lit up
“Really? He’s a mech?” you asked and the man nodded
“Can drive ya there, if ya want” he offered.
You didn’t have the habit of trusting men that easily. After all, you were a girl, and you knew that anything could happen to you. But you always had a small switchblade on you, just in case. You had never been afraid to stab anyone if it meant protecting you. Your parents were both relieved and worried about it. You weren’t too sure why. In fact, whenever you were trying very hard to remember about your biological family, you could only think of blood. It was quite strange. And that was why you never tried to find them again.
“You sure you’d do that for me?” you asked the driver and he nodded. “Well, thank you, it’s very nice of you” you smiled as you climbed into his truck. “I’m Y/N by the way” you introduced yourself
“Lester” he replied “It’s nice havin’ someone polite ‘round for once” he commented and you raised an eyebrow
“You’re used to people not being too nice around?” you asked
“Yeah. We've often lost tourists here, and they'll are so rude, ya know. Always happy to see them gone” Lester explained and you nodded in understanding
“People suck” you agreed.
You turned your head and you noticed the dead animals in the back of his truck. Even though you never saw this man or this truck before, there was something oddly familiar about them, about the scent, about the sound of his voice, about his presence.
“Roadkills?” you asked without even realising it
“Yep. Ya’re from the countryside?” he asked you back
“No, just figured.” you replied “You live at Ambrose?” you asked, just to do the conversation
“Nah. My brothers do, but wanted to live out of town” Lester explained and you hummed. You could understand a need to be independent from your family “And ya, where ya comin' from?” he asked back
“From far away” you chuckled. “I seem to be a lost tourist too. I don’t understand how confusing those roads are” you groaned
“Oh yeah and no connection, even for GPS” Lester nodded, thinking that it was thanks to this that his family could do their dark business.
In a few instants, you arrived in Ambrose. You watched around, and for a moment you forgot about everything else. You knew this place. You were pretty certain you already went there. You also were positive you dreamt about this town. Especially the house, at the end of the road. You recognise a museum in the distance, and the streets. It seemed quite empty though. Emptier than in your dreams. You shook your head, you were probably imagining things because of the heat. There was no reason for you to know this place.
“Ya good?” Lester asked and you smiled at him
“Oh yeah, sorry. I think the sun is starting to make me dizzy” you said and he hummed.
Lester was a little bit sad his brothers might kill you because you were really nice and soft. And because you had the same name as her. Of course Vincent would really love to work on you because you were so pretty and you would suit very well in the House of Wax, but it would be a waste.
A man appeared from the mechanic shop, and you couldn’t deny that he was quite good looking. The way he sent his brother a little grin struck you. You knew that smile. His eyes were soon on you and you left the truck.
“Thank you, Lester. You really saved me there” you smiled and Lester shrugged
“All the pleasure’s mine” he chuckled and you missed the little pleading glance he sent his brother, silently asking him to let you go unharmed. Bo didn’t show anything. Lester left and you were now alone with this other man. There was something about him that you found unsettling, and you only relaxed a little when your hand reached for the blade hidden in your shorts pocket. You politely greeted him and introduced yourself before explaining your problem to him.
“Call me Bo” he smirked “We can go fetch your car and bring it back here. Ya think it’s just your tyres?” he asked
“Think so. Don’t have anything to change them or any puncture sealant spray on me…” you really wanted to facepalm yourself for being so unprepared
“It’s fine. I’ll do a little check up too though” he said and you didn’t have the energy to ask him if he was going to scam you. “Come with me” he said and he was about to guide you to his own truck when a little dog barked, startling the two of you, and ran straight to you.
You didn’t move an inch because you were a little bit scared. You weren’t afraid of dogs per say, but having one you didn’t know, wildly running to you, was a little bit impressive and unsettling. Bo was about to reach for the dog, thinking she was running to him, but she never changed her direction. She stopped right in front of you, sniffed you before happily barking and greeted you excitedly. You were a little bit surprised and when you took a look at Bo, he clearly was as confused as you were. You knelt down to pet the dog and she started to lick at your face. She made you fall on your ass and settled in between your legs to lick at your cheeks even more, almost climbing on you. You let out a surprised laugh and you finally gently pushed her away. You petted her and she continued to bark and to be all happy and giddy. It was as if you were a member of her family she hadn’t seen in weeks and that you were finally back, so she was greeting you home.
“Jonesy, what the fuck ya doin’, girl?” Bo grumbled at the dog, completely at loss.
She usually was very afraid of strangers, mostly because they took away her owner when they both were a puppy and a young child. She had never fully recovered from this loss, and the three brothers neither. But she wasn’t afraid of you at all, on the contrary, which was very strange.
“Is she always like that?” you asked Bo as you continued to stroke her head and he looked up at you
“No idea what’s goin’ on” he admitted, watching the scene without a smile. He was thinking that if his baby sister had never been sent away, it was probably that way Jonesy would greet her every day. But what did he know, he had never been able to find his little ray of sunshine after the social care took her away.
“Maybe she confused me with her owner?” you asked and you saw a flash of pain going through Bo’s eyes.
You clearly had touched a sensitive point without knowing. He looked away for an instant before coming closer and helping you on your feet. He needed this to stop because it was sincerely breaking his heart. He was thinking enough about his lost sister without having to endure such a scene.
“Yeah, maybe” he simply replied. “Go to bed, Jonesy.” he told her but instead of obeying she sat down at your feet and looked up at you with love shining in her eyes.
You giggled and Bo was about to ask her to leave again, when the moment was soon cut short by a loud group of people coming by. They clearly were arguing with each other, and they were in a bad state. They were dusty and some of them were hurt. They were in a very bad mood and Jonesy instantly got up and was ready to protect you. You shushed her as Bo walked to the group. You couldn’t hear what they were saying but it was obvious that they had a car accident and needed help. But they weren’t asking nicely. You remembered what Lester said about rude people coming by and you took comfort in Jonesy’s presence. You knelt down and cuddled with her as you both watched the scene. The group and Bo came closer. You hated the way they looked at you.
“Need to take care of them first” Bo told you and you nodded in understanding
“Is there a hotel here or somewhere I could stay at? I’m quite tired and thirsty” you said
“Nowhere, no. But ya see the house at the end of the road, it’s mine and my brother’s. Go there and help yourself.” he offered.
You were quite stunned that the man offered you to stay at his place. The coldness in his eyes made you feel something was off. You swore it felt like it was a trap and you really didn’t want to go there, but you had nowhere to go.
“Thank you, it’s nice of you” you finally said and you started to leave.
“Jonesy, come with me” Bo called for her but the dog clearly had no intention in obeying him today. She happily walked by your side, and you felt better knowing she was going to be with you. You heard Bo curse and it almost made you laugh.
Soon enough you weren’t hearing the group anymore and you arrived at the house. You knocked before entering. You didn’t know if Bo’s brother was here or not, so you didn’t want to look like you were a thief or something like that. The situation was weird enough. You waited for a few instants, before entering.
The house seemed empty. You went straight to the kitchen, without realising that you knew where it was, and found some iced lemonade in the fridge. As you were looking for a glass in the cupboards, you barely registered the sounds of quiet footsteps coming close by. You jumped when Jonesy started to loudly bark at the newcomer. The first thing you noticed was his long hair hiding his face, and the second thing was that he was holding a knife. You were quick to grab yours and to open it, ready to fight. Jonesy never stopped barking at the man and even started to growl and show her teeth at him. It seemed to absolutely surprise him, and he even let his arm down, as he tilted his head and looked down at her. He stepped back and Jonesy seemed to calm down. She came closer to you, acting like a real guard dog. You never stopped watching the man and you saw that his skin was unnaturally smooth. Actually, you understood that he was wearing a mask. His attention was soon back on you. But his body language was different. He wasn’t ready to attack you anymore, he was watching you with interest and curiosity. His eye moved down your body and the way you were still holding your own knife, ready to defend yourself.
He finally put his knife on the ground and raised his hands in front of him to show you that he wasn’t going to hurt you. You licked your dry lips and calmed down. You put your blade away.
“I guess your Bo’s brother” you asked and the man nodded “He told me to come here to have a drink, that’s all. I’m not here to rob you or anything.” you said and he nodded again. You wondered if he was mute. “He is with another group right now” you informed him and the man looked at the window before his attention went back on you once again. He pointed at Jonesy. “Oh yes, your dog seems to love me very much since the moment she saw me” you said and you stroked her “Hey baby, calm down now” you cooed at her and it seemed to do the trick as she laid down at your feet right away.
Before you could register it, the masked man was in front of you and he cupped your face in his big hands. He was looking for your eyes, completely thrilled. You tried to push him away and Jonesy barked at him again. He instantly let you go, but you saw that he didn’t mean to scare you or hurt you. He raised his hands in front of him again. He really seemed excited now.
He carefully moved past you and opened the right cupboard and handed you a glass. You thanked him, a little bit apprehensive before pouring yourself a glass of lemonade. You didn’t ask if he wanted one too, because it would mean removing his mask and you could tell the man wouldn’t want that. You never stopped eyeing him and he stepped back. You grew uncomfortable at the intensity of his staring, but there was something about this place.
You looked around and you realised you could tell where every room was in this house. Which was strange because you have never been there before. You nibbled on your bottom lip, sipping at your beverage. You were wondering if the sun hit you so hard that you were hallucinating. Actually, you were even thinking that you might be dreaming.
You heard the front door being opened. Lester entered the house, a frown on his face. He had seen that Bo was with another group and he hoped you were fine. He came back for you, to ask his brothers to let you go. There was something about you, he just couldn’t shake it off.
“Vincent?” he called for his brother, not seeing him yet “Look, there’s a girl here, and she’s nice, and she has her eyes, and her name, and her smile, so maybe don’t kill her…” he trailed off as he saw the three of you in the kitchen “Oh hi” he awkwardly said, moving a hand behind his neck.
So the men here really had the intention of killing you. Great. You would need to find a way to get out of here as fast as possible. Maybe you could steal a car from there, grab your stuff from your own car, and drive right to the police.
You saw Lester kneeling in front of Jonesy “Hello girl, come say hi?” he asked and usually Jonesy would jump on him but she didn’t budge an inch from where you were. She looked up at you before wrapping her tail around your ankle and resting her chin on the floor. If you weren’t moving, neither was she. Lester looked back at you.
“Oh.” he whispered and he started to tear up. “Ya’re her” he brightly smiled and you raised an eyebrow
“Okay, I’ve no freaking idea what’s going on in here” you grumbled
“Ya’re our sister” Lester whispered and you watched him as if a third arm just grew up on him
“What?”
“Ya’re finally back home. We thought we’d lost ya forever.”
You saw Vincent taking his knife back and leaving the house. He was walking straight to the group and you could tell he was going to help Bo to quickly kill them all. It didn’t seem part of the plan; it was what Bo’s body language told you when he noticed his brother coming closer.
“I’m not your sister” you said, as your eyes were still on the window, thinking that you clearly walked into a town full of insane people or that it was a dream.
“Jonesy knows. Everythin’ll be alright now” Lester happily hummed and your eyes went back on him: you knew you weren’t going to leave Ambrose that easily.

Straw Hats with a reader who’s similar to Yor Forger/Briar (SpyXFamily)
Tumblr media
A/N: Thank to @joyryl for giving me this idea, i hope i did this justice because again, the character might be OOC and others,,, but I hope you guys will enjoy this !! Tho, after writing this, I will started to write an insert reader for another fandom, I hope you guys don’t mind and once again, enjoy this fourth one piece insert reader work that I try my best to write < 3
Btw, you might notice some change in some of my previous work, not too much tho, just some title change and stuff
Tumblr media
| Reader is gender neutral (They/Them), SpyXFamily references and chapter 53 manga spoiler!! (it’s kinda short so dw) , character may be OOC (Out of Character), their relationship is platonic etc. |
Tumblr media
The Straw Hats was first thought you are just a normal kind civilian in this town they arrive
But the moment they witness your strength (example like carrying a thousand of box without showing a sight of tired), part of them (mostly Nami, Ussop and Chopper) we’re terrified at you
Luffy typical “you’re so cool!! can you join my crew!!”
With most of his crew yell about how he should stop inviting more random people he met
As much as you do want to see the sea, you decline his offer because you still ‘have thing to take care of’ and saying how ‘a normal civilian like me probably won’t keep up with the pirate stuff’
So in the end, you didn’t join the crew... sike
You thought that thing end here?? Nooo because thing about to get more interesting
Now here’s some information here
The villain here in your island once commit a war a years ago, because of their strength and the power, people who live in the island afraid to fight back (and to avoid another war happen once again
So of course, the Straw Hats willing to beat their ass
BUT, they didn’t except to see you here, step in the fight between the crew and the villain of this town
Ignore the fact that you we’re wearing a hot outfit and carrying a weapon, they we’re so panic and we’re about to told you to run until
SWOOSH
The weapon unexpectedly appear and stab on the villain back, which weakened them
It shock both the Straw Hats and the villain, but they then see this as a chance to take down the villain
You took the final hit toward the villain, as a revenge of killing your parent and the loved one from the previous war
After taking down the villain and also actually learning that you’re actually an assassin from a certain group, Luffy is even more hype to get you into his crew (the crew member give up at this point, knowing that Luffy mind cannot be changed
In the end tho, you finally agree. You’re still worry because of your youngest brother, but he end up convince you that he can take care of himself and are no longer the little brother you need to take care of
So now the crew has to deal with an assassin, and thus the adventure of a pirate begin
Tumblr media
SPY X FAMILY CHAPTER 53 SPOILER STARTED
During one of the hard battle between you and one of the enemy from the other crew, you’re skin we’re full of bruise and scar
The enemy was so strong that it made your energy decrease, started to become weak
Almost giving up, a thought pop out once again, almost every day in your own life
Why did you become a assassin?
You kept on thinking and thinking those every time, because out of all the job, this job made you murder endless ‘evil, dirty’ people, and such
So yet, why?
The image of your youngest brother flash in, then later its the Straw Hats crew, Luffy.... Zoro... Nami...... and ....
...The memory of you and the crew hanging around, smiling and such
Grabbing your weapon hard. It’s like you suddenly power up, you stand up and continue to attack the enemy, which they didn’t except that
At this time, you we’re finally realize why you take this job
To protect the one you care, to protect the one you love
So, you won’t give up, for this fight, and maybe for the one you care
And you won’t die, for the crew that you will treasured forever
SPY X FAMILY CHAPTER 53 SPOILER END
Tumblr media
Remember how Yor is frequently inclined to solve problems through murder? You also does that too, which terrified the other crew member and asking if you need therapy
“The Marine ship are here!” “Oh dear, should I goes to that marine ship and murder those marine?” “... (Y/N)??”
(Excluding Robin who doesn’t seem mind, Luffy being Luffy and Zoro also being Zoro
You were also a poor victim of easily believe in Ussop lie
One time Zoro gave you a sake, the ship we’re almost destroyed by drunk you, so now you we’re banned from drinking anything that will make you drunk (seriously tho, it almost traumatize the coward trio
Imagine a cooking lesson with Sanji, like one day you just shyly ask if it’s okay for him to teach you how to cook and he gladly accept it
That one flashback screen when Yor came home bloody with Yuri concern about his oldest sister? This would also be you and Chopper like
“(Y/N) YOU’RE BLEEDING WHAT HAPPEN TO YOU?!”
“Nothing happen! Just accidentally trip!”
“ACCIDENTALLY TRIP????”
You actually think Franky is so cool and is probably the biggest number 1 fan of his
Also think Brook is super cool because again, who won’t like a walking and talking skeleton? who often ask the woman if he can see her panty
Shopping with Nami as she made you try so many pretty clothes that she think it suit you (you still has to pay the clothes price though jk jk unless
Because you lost both your mother and father in that war so you easily got attached to Jinbe, your new father figure
Sadly I cannot think of any headcannon of Carrot, but I all can said is that they are in awe of your strength and respected you
You respect Yamato of his choice and refer Yamato as a he/him, you will not hesitate to beat up someone who won’t respect him
To you right now, Straw Hats is now a new family for you, and you will protect them in your own way
Tumblr media
“May I have the honor of taking your life?”
-Yor Forger/Briar : SpyXFamily Episode 3

Felt free to share your idea and headcanons as well : D

Five Runs - Run 1: Doors (The Mandalorian, E)
THIS BLOG IS DEFUNCT DUE TO A GLITCH IN TUMBLR'S SYSTEM. PLEASE FOLLOW @weird-writes INSTEAD FOR UPDATES.
Title: Five Runs - Run One: Doors (2k)
Series: Part 3 of Creed, a non-linear series about Din Djarin and his favorite... distraction.
Description: A series of drabbles all sharing one theme: you've decided to run away from your Mandalorian. On purpose. For his birthday. Listen, everyone's got their kinks, and his is bounty hunting (sort of. Mostly, it's you.)
Pairing: Din Djarin x Female Reader
Warnings: Explicit sexual content, canon-typical violence, object insertion but probably not in the way you think, oral sex, manual sex, implied penetrative sex, brief mention of somnophilia, canon what canon, no betas we die like men [warnings are for all drabbles.]
Tropes: established relationship, the helmet comes off, hurt/comfort, fluff, adventure
Author's note: When I finished Easy Mark, I wanted to write something adventurous and fun next, something that lets these two show how much they really do enjoy each other's company. Each drabble is set during a different time in their relationship but it's all after the Mos Eisley incident mentioned in Distractions.
***
RUN 1: DOORS
The first time it's a surprise: “When I said run, I didn’t mean from me!"
You slam awake with a start, your adrenaline catapulting you out of bed and halfway toward your blaster before you realize the exasperated voice is familiar. You'd know that intimidating shadow anywhere, and one pale finger of moonlight reaches through the patchy roof to run itself along his armor. Your heart rate drops immediately, soothed by the silvery shine of beskar: no threat here.
You collapse back on the narrow cot you'd rented for the night, brain churning into gear. Din had found you, as you'd known he would. The only question now is if he’s really as annoyed as he sounds.
"In my defense, you were non-specific," you retort. You take a moment to scan the door and windows of your dingy little room. All closed - and not just closed, but locked. How the kriff did he get in here so quietly? Trust your Mandalorian not to leave you an easy exit; he clearly checked the escape routes before waking you. Next time you'll have to rig some sort of alarm.
"Yes, because when someone says run they obviously mean run away, change all your clothes, and hide in the back room of a scrapyard." The helmet renders his tone unreadable but you can't see any sign of anger in Din's broad shoulders. It's hard to tell in the dark but his body language seems relaxed, halfway to cocky even, like when he’s dragging a particularly tough bounty through an admiring cantina crowd. Your pulse picks up again, thrumming with interest, but for a very different reason than when you'd thought there was a stranger in the room.
"I sent a message," you shoot back. "I didn't have to. I could have just vanished instead." You would never just vanish on Din, and you both know it, but you also know exactly how to bait his ego.
He scoffs outright at that. "No you couldn't. No one can just vanish. Not from me, and especially not you." You were right, he's wearing his presumed victory over you the same way he wears the prospect of a tricky blaster shot or a fight against improbable odds. His confidence goes straight to your head like spice, and you feel the slumbering heat between your legs sit up and take notice.
It's his brash attitude that makes you decide to push your luck just a little more. You love it when Din gets like this; it feels like an invitation to misbehave in ways only the two of you know how. "You liked the idea--" you make a show of checking the timer on your wrist, "-- thirty four hours ago." He'd found you with a full day and more to spare, of course, but the timer is still nestled in its strap and if you play this right maybe you can -
One big gloved hand clamps over your arm. You can feel the heat of him even through the leather. "Time's up."
***
You'd been waiting for the perfect opportunity, the right alignment of distraction and circumstance to take off without Din noticing. It needed to be on a job, his awareness of you too great at other times, whether you were doing something as civilized as drinking spotchka or as crude as wading through a swamp, Din hoisting the Child's carry sack overhead to keep him out of the mud. Din's right about that much: when you run with a bounty hunter there's no such thing as slipping away.
There had been a few times when you'd thought you might try for it, credits already tucked in your bag, blaster on your hip. But each time you'd found a reason not to leave him: the situation was too chaotic and he'd worry you'd been hurt; you didn't like the town, too many inquisitive strangers; you didn't want him to hunt you with the kiddo in tow. The excuses were reasonable but eventually you were forced to admit to yourself that your delay was simply because you didn't want to leave him. You'd been traveling together for so long you weren't sure you remembered how the galaxy felt without his solid bulk at your back or his dry, modulated humor in your ear.
Today, though, was too good to pass up, the slap of blaster fire from around the corner announcing that Din had found his quarry at the same time his quarry's hired muscle had found him. You had planned this part out in advance together, leaning conspiratorially over schematics in the cargo bay, his helmet bumping affectionately against the crown of your head as you showed him how to use what you'd made. You may not share his Creed but you speak the same reverential language when it comes to certain things... like explosives.
You know your own role too, which is why you pop up from the stack of crates you've been waiting behind and shove your fingers in your mouth to give a piercing whistle. Your other hand drops to your holster. You draw and fire in quick succession, sending a bolt ricocheting over the heads of the contract guards. Two of them whip around, surprised by the noise and incoming fire from another direction, which buys Din enough time to slap the little ball against the blast door blocking his way. He must have hit the primer button at the same time because you hear his shout even through the helmet: "Got it - run!"
You take off down the alley, jinking around one corner and then another, putting as many walls between yourself and your latest experiment as you can. Din will be fine, the Rising Phoenix on his back doubtless already taking him out of harm's way, but lesser mortals like you have to rely on brick and steel and meters and meters of distance. You're lucky this district is mostly abandoned, full of empty warehouses and docking bays. It's the perfect testing ground for your latest experiment.
You're halfway down the next street when there's a sound from behind you that makes your eardrums pop like you've been plunged into deep water. It's less a noise than a sudden sharp pull against the air, jolting you as the ground lurches sickeningly. It's followed by another sound, this one like a shuttle crashing into a brass band. You can't help your grin as you slow your steps toward the intersection to avoid attracting attention and join the stream of traffic headed toward the market. It worked. That blast door won't be giving your Mandalorian any more trouble, and if you're lucky the shock wave will have cleared out the security-for-hire too.
There's a tavern ahead with an open space in front of it roofed with leafy vines for shade. You pull over into the pleasant coolness and stop, rummaging in your pack for the comm link you always carry planetside. You'd spend all last night thinking about what to say when this moment came. Your message has to make it clear you're not being kidnapped or under duress. It has to be obvious that it's an invitation that he can say no to if he wants. It has to be intriguing.
Oh, and of course, it can't interrupt him while he's killing people.
You dictate what you want Din to read into the little microphone, using the careful wording you'd finally settled on this morning. The ship is parked only a few klicks away and is well within short-distance meshnet range, so you bounce your message through the navcomp’s HoloNet connection as opposed to direct, flagging the data priority level as low. This means it will show on Din's display as text rather than a missed connection attempt, and he will also know that whatever you’re trying to tell him can wait until he's done with the bounty. When he finally has breathing room to check his comm, you know what will blink out in blocky letters on his screen:
Got away from them, and now I’m getting away from you too. Find me? 72 standard hrs, Motok only, no beacon. Happy birthday.
Your interface beeps a notification. Message successfully relayed. It makes you feel better to know it's waiting for him, your words a thread tethering you together even as you spool its length away from him across the city. It's only three days at most, and you have a suspicion the reunion will be worth it.
You tuck the comm back into your bag and get moving, sliding through the crowd toward one of the larger booths. You’re going to need a cloak or a change of clothes if you don’t want him to catch you immediately. Something that will alter your silhouette and cover your hair. Probably a change of shoes to fool his tracking algorithm. Hell, maybe you should buy a new perfume, too - you still have no idea what the helmet of his is really capable of. You spot a stall selling thick bolts of local fabric; surely the garment district must be this direction. You steer your steps towards it, and it's not until you're halfway there that you realize you're absently and happily humming to yourself.
***
It’s less than an hour later when your comm chimes again. You've already bought your disguise, swathed in the long hooded cloak that is common for locals in this sector. It takes you a moment to reach your bag under the yards of lightweight synthsilk that now shield you from prying eyes. You have a missed message, high priority.
Are you serious?
You send back. Yes.
A few minutes after that there’s an insistent buzz from the inner pocket of your bag. Din isn’t bothering to relay messages through the HoloNet anymore - he’s comming you directly.
You pull it out and thumb the button on the side of the unit. “Mando?”
“What is this?” There’s no sound of blaster fire in the background, so however the situation you’d run out on resolved, it’s clearly over. And Din sounds curious rather than concerned, which is a relief. You'd been almost sure your gambit would play well, but there was no way to be certain - any game like this would run the risk of miscommunication, of hurting rather than delighting him. You couldn't know in advance if he'd like the idea, but you do know that if you'd misjudged, your partnership is now strong enough to withstand it. Coming to that realization, finally acknowledging that your connection with Din is secure enough to gamble a little for both your enjoyment, had filled you with an emotion you couldn't quite describe.
Though whatever it was, it had led to some spectacular sex.
You've waited too long to answer him. "Mesh'la?"
You shrug even though he can’t see you. “When you put my tracking chip in, you said you missed stalking me.”
A chuckle. Another good sign. “That wasn’t a hint.”
“No, but I thought it’d be fun. Like old times. And if we need to find each other in a hurry for some reason you can always use the beacon.”
“Three days.” Din’s tone is even more thoughtful. "I did say I wanted to spend some time in Motok. Although I was hoping it would be with you."
“Three days, and you did,” you confirm. “And it can be with me. If you're as good as they say. There’s a timer unit on a cord on my wrist. Get it before then and you win." He won't be able to resist a challenge like that, not from you.
“And what do I get if I win?” His voice through the modulator has dropped, far too dark and intimate for your public surroundings. He must be able to hear the crowd noise through the comm interface. He just doesn’t care.
You're grateful that the hood you're wearing will cover your expression from anyone passing by. You’re suddenly a little lightheaded, adrenaline from the impending chase mixed with a giddy excitement at what you might be asked to give up if you lose. You do your best to sound innocent when you answer. “What do you win? Why, Mando, anything you want. Anything at all.”
Your meaning is clear despite your casual tone. A growl comes through the comm link, then: “Don’t tire yourself out, cyar'ika. You’ll need your strength. See you in forty-eight hours - maybe sooner.”
And the comm goes dead in your hands.

Hi there! I just got into your au, and usually I really, really genuinely do not like oc's that are in canon. And it always takes me so many tries to get into it because it just seems so fun, however there's smth about it that I just never like and nothing ever works out? Came across your au, read first chapter and I was already in it. Read everything in one night, EXACTLY my cup of tea and I just don't understand? You added something, I don't exactly know what but I sure am loving it!
And the one-shots are my second favourite part! Nice to read, have a fun adventure in it (or gut-wrenching angst) and it's just so well written, having zero problems with following along. On the last chapter, in the comment section, you mentioned that you were gonna do a one-shot next. So if I may, could we get a small preview? Nothing big and if you don't want to or it's meant to be more surprise-like then, no need, no pressure!
Have a great day and night, drink some water and get plenty of rest, byeee!!
Tumblr media
Happy you like my AU, fic and Chula!
I don't think I added anything so much as...took something away. See, what a lot of people do with OC insert fics is that they essicially make their OC the main character. There is nothing wrong with that, of course, but the issue is that you're going to have a lot of people not want to read it within a few paragraph.
Because, simply put, we read fanfiction to read about an established cast and world. Even if a fic isn't focused on the main characters we still see that main cast as a large part of the plot and, thus, if a fic is focused on a minor character, it's like watching a sidekicks filler episode. It's why I only have 4 out of 54 chapter from Chula POV in the main story of Hunter and Turtles. I wanted to keep her as a side character so I could keep the feeling of the fic being like another season from the show....but with more bloodshed and angst exploration.
That isn't a hard rule, of course. The One-Shot Series starts with a Chula POV chapter and most of those one-shots are from her POV but I always intended that one to be mostly for me to write whatever I wanted and to roll with it (notice the number of non-canon shots in that). And I wrote my Mutant Mayhem fic from an OC's POV because I tried with a few other perspective and his was the best choice. Even then, I tried to keep him as an outsider to the main cast instead of front loading the fic with his life story or something like that.
As for the One-Shot thing. I want to do some Canon One-Shots with Leo and Chula before I start posting the third Arc for the series. Mostly because Arc Three is going to be....quite a shift and there are some one-shots that a few readers have been excited to see. It's a lot easier to crank out some short, single chapter stories when I don't have to juggle all the heavy main plot stuff at the same time.
And since you've left such a wonderful ask in my Inbox....yeah, I can do a lil preview for one of the one-shots under construction.
Warning; this preview is not edited yet so the sentence structure, spelling and grammar may be a little wack.
You have an awesome day/night as well! And remeber to sleep when binge reading fanfiction! And enjoy!
Chula had been gone too long.
The thought had flitted through his a few times over that last couple of hours but when the sun started to go down, it became a mantra.
When they landed on this planet, Chula had passively mention that she was going to find some work for a few extra cdit while the ship refueled and cooled down. And Leo hadn’t bat an eye at that because Chula did that a lot, ventured onto planets for some day-labor for some extra cash in her pocket.
Leo didn’t mind staying on the ship to wait for her to come back….and since she hadn’t called him out for occasionally sneaking off she didn’t know he’d sometimes explore a little.
But she didn’t ever stay gone the entire day. The longest she’d ever been gone was nine hours and even that time she’d stomped into the ship grumbling about contractors underselling the job to try and give her less money.
But it had been easily past that at this point and Leo was worried. And she wasn’t answering her comm. Either. Sure, she didn’t always have time or signal but Leo was pretty sure she’d find a way to reassure him if he tried to call ten times.
But he hadn’t heard a peep.
So he grabbed his hood, opened a picture of Chula on his tablet and ventured into the settlement.

meet me at the crossroads 3: trains, cats & coffee shops [a short story]
Part 3 of this and this story
Disclaimer: the events depicted in this story are fictional and the places, as well as some mentioned people, are meant to be vague, but the girls who have inspired the main characters are very much real and I guarantee they had a lot of fun together when they met in similar circumstances.
Tags: original fiction, real person fiction, no reader insert, self insert, friend insert, political au [inside joke], coffee shop au (but it's a cat cafe), there is only one bed (but it's a cat toy)
Word count: 1.2k
Collaboration with and a birthday gift for @winterxisxcomingx 💜🎁 I hope you didn't think I forgot about this story, because there's no way I would! I know it's been a while since our meeting that inspired this part, but I finally gained back some inspiration, so it was time to write it. I also thought I wouldn't manage to finish it in time but I ended up pushing through. XD I hope you'll enjoy! Happy birthday sis bestie!!!
It’s a warm spring morning when Hanna boards a train in the city she studies in, the train that would get her to the city where Winter currently lives. It’s about to be the third time they meet, but it doesn’t make her any less excited – if anything, it makes Hanna even happier that she managed to arrange another meeting with her friend.
Her adventures start almost immediately after she sits in her spot. The man sitting across from her looked familiar even when she saw him on the platform, but now she finally realises who he is. She takes out her phone to text Winter:
Hi, my train just took off. And guess who’s on it with me!
The reply doesn’t arrive immediately – in fact, it takes Winter almost an hour to see Hanna’s message and respond:
I don’t know, who?
Think, bestie! Who could I text you about? Especially when we meet in a few hours, this one just couldn’t wait until we see each other
OMG, is that Krzysztof?
YES
GO TALK TO HIM
I CAN’T, I feel like it would be weird, but maybe we’re gonna catch him when the train arrives at your station?
SURE, I’M GONNA LOOK OUT FOR HIM
Even though Hanna has planned other activities for her ride, like reading a book and listening to music, she can’t focus on anything else than peeking at the politician she and Winter became close with over the course of the last few months. She hopes he will notice her and possibly strike a conversation first once he has a chance, but at the same time she’s weirdly scared of meeting him again. While their two previous meetings were planned and both she and her friend could prepare to see him, this time it took them by surprise, especially her, since Winter has now been warned.
After a long journey the train arrives at its destination. Hanna steps out to the station, trying to keep her eye on Krzysztof, but she soon loses him in a crowd. She starts looking for Winter instead, hoping she had a chance to catch their mutual friend.
The girls eventually find each other and immediately fall into a hug.
“What took you so long? I thought it’s not your train yet,” Winter asks.
“I had to look around to make sure I don’t walk past you,” Hanna explains. “But I thought you saw Krzysztof? He would be your sign that this was the right train.”
“No, I must’ve missed him… But if he’s in town, maybe we’ll see him later!”
With that thought in mind, the girls walk out of the station and into the city.
The two friends spend a wonderful day together, walking around, trying not to get lost and just enjoying each other’s company. For a moment they even forget the man Hanna saw on the train – the man they both secretly consider to be their other friend. The only remark they make about him is when the evening approaches and Winter suddenly asks:
“Are you sure it was Krzysztof that you saw on the train? Or maybe just someone that looked similar to him?”
“Yeah, I’m pretty sure, why?” Hanna asks back.
“Nothing, I’m just wondering… I really haven’t noticed him at the station, and I feel like we would have bumped into him already if he was here. Plus, why didn’t he tell us? He knows well that I study here, so maybe…”
“You know he’s busy, there’s a lot going on in the parliament right now,” Hanna interrupts her friend. “Maybe it slipped his mind that you study here, or he forgot to let you know he’d be here. Or maybe he was just changing trains…”
“Maybe…” Winter shrugs her shoulders. “But even if that’s weird, I simply kind of miss him.”
“Yeah, I know. I miss him too. Who knows, perhaps we’ll meet him tomorrow?”
With such a finish to their conversation, the girls decide to part their ways. Not having a way to accommodate her friend at her university dorms, Winter walks Hanna to the hostel she’s staying at for the night and leaves her there to rest.
On the next day Winter planned a visit to a cat cafe. She’s been there before, but not with Hanna, and she knows how much of a cat person her friend is, so they couldn’t miss it.
“It’s good you made a reservation,” Hanna remarks when they both sit by the table with menus in their hands. “Seems like the place is going to be packed today.”
Winter looks around the cafe and agrees with her friend. It’s only 11 in the morning and there’s only one free table left – a table next to theirs, with a reservation for one person. Without thinking much of it, girls go back to the conversation they had before they entered the cafe. They only take a small break to go to the bar and order coffees and cake.
“Hey, do you want to play with the cats?” Winter suggests as they wait for their drinks and treats. “I think there is one more cat toy left just here…”
“You’re talking about this one?”
The girls turn their heads towards a man who suddenly appeared by the table next to them, holding a cat wand in his hand. They immediately start smiling when they recognize Krzysztof.
“I told you I saw him!” Hanna exclaims, startling one of the cats sitting next to her. Shushed by a waitress, she lowers her voice and adds: “I told Winter you were with me on the train, but she started doubting me!”
“Yeah, sorry about that…” Winter tells her friend. Turning to Krzysztof, she says: “But I didn’t see you at the station, and you didn’t tell us you’d be here.”
“That’s right. I’m here on business matters and I couldn’t really fill you in, I hope you understand,” he explains. “I also wasn’t sure if I’d have time to do anything here outside the job, so I didn’t want to bother you in case I had to cancel.”
“Oh, that’s completely understandable,” Winter agrees.
“Yes, definitely,” Hanna confirms.
All three of them go quiet, interrupted by the waitress approaching with Winter’s and Hanna’s order. She places the plates in front of them, smiles at them and goes back to the bar.
“I’m glad I didn’t approach you in the train though, I guess it would bother you,” Hanna adds.
“No, it wouldn’t bother me at all,” Krzysztof responds quickly, “but it would definitely be harder for me to pretend I’m not here.”
“Well, but you ARE here now,” Winter says, “so… could you share the cat toy with us, please?”
“Ah, yes, of course. Here you go,” the man says and hands the toy over to the girl. “I think I should go and order something anyway. What do you recommend?”
“I’ve only been here once before and all I tried was a latte, but I’ve heard they make really good cappuccinos.”
“Okay. Then I guess I’ll have a cappuccino.”
And just like that, the three unlikely friends get to spend a few hours together, drinking coffee and sharing the only cat toy left in the cat cafe.

“Ghosts are not real.” Albedo started in monotonous tones for the nth time that night and you cursed the wind that howled against your ears, drowning out his gentle voice.
“What if they are just that good at hiding?” You raised your voice as you skipped to the next ‘haunted location' labeled on your map which swayed violently in your grip. “I know if I was a ghost I’d hide from science guys like you who would do unethical experiments on me.”
Albedo sighed as you approached the entrance of the Wangshu Inn. “Why would I waste my time doing experiments on something that doesn’t exist?”
You pouted at his words but that was soon replaced by a wide smile when you realized you had reached your destination. “We’re here!”
Albedo paused before speaking, expressionless. “Why is one of the locations a nationally well-known 5-star inn?” He rolled his eyes. You giggled.
“I don’t know about you but if I was a ghost I'd play smart and hide in plain sight.” You winked before you turned to the door and walked in while missing the slight pink that painted his cheeks for your attention was caught by the bright lanterns that lit the doorway as well as the scent of almonds coming from the kitchen invading your nose. You had stopped skipping and opted for a slow pace to admire the various types of people that littered the bottom floor from fatui diplomats to merchants, scholars, and adventurers.
After a moment of watching you admire your surroundings, Albedo smiled to himself before regaining his composure and walking in after you. You both journeyed to the reception where you discussed with the receptionist whether she has witnessed any supernatural phenomena.
The receptionist smiled at Albedo. “I had no idea ghost-hunting dates were a common thing among the youth.” With eyes widened, you tried to reject her assumption but Albedo beat you to it.
“Is that so? They have become quite popular.” His blank expression did not give anything away as he lied to the receptionist.
She smiled knowingly. "Third-floor, room 269 has a haunting reputation. Nobody has booked it in almost a year now.” She gave Albedo the keys. “Enjoy!”
Albedo took your hand and lured you out of your stupor and the reception area then you both made your way to the wooden elevator. When you arrived in silence Albedo hummed, “It seemed more efficient to make her believe we are on a date.”
You pursed your lips as you wondered whether Albedo would mind it if he found out you secretly considered this as a real date. You hugged yourself before looking away from him as the elevator began to rise along with your wandering thoughts.
“Is something the matter?” Albedo questioned. You denied it with a single shake of your head. He hesitated, ”I… have a confession to make.”
After hearing his words, you gave Albedo your undivided attention, a habit you’ve yet to recognize on your own but Albedo noticed. He always did. He noticed whenever you would gaze upon him as if he was the sun in the sky lighting your world and he shamelessly bathed in that attention you would bestow upon him beyond your knowledge because Albedo was in love. And his love for you never filled him with fear but with the sudden urge to try something new, hence why he entertained your pathetic beliefs in ghosts.
While your beliefs were unscientific and absurd, they were endearing. So endearing that he couldn’t help but let your excitement influence him into accompanying you on your unrealistic venture. “Would you mind if we considered this as an actual date- perhaps the first of many?”
Your eyes widened.
“Huh.”

Just one dance
Since it's so hard to find any fics for Lost ark characters I like I figured I’ll just have to go and make one myself.
This is a one-shot scenario I’ve been thinking of lately so hopefully it works out well.
Feel free to change anything character wise in your head to suit you or your oc since I’m basing the MC as my insert/character, though I will try to keep it as neutral as possible.
Be aware, I’ve only just started playing again after quite a few months of having no time for the game and am only just nearing the end of the Rohendal quest line so if things don’t look cannon to the story it’s because I’m not there yet.
This is a Thirain x Reader/oc fic with a lot of mutual pining since we all know our boy is allergic to saying how he truly feels.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The day the invite arrived you were simply sailing, setting off from a small adventure on Lagoon island. The hawk you had trained as a messenger was spotted in the distance as you watched the horizon trying to gather your thoughts, it had been a long time since you'd started searching for the arks and though you had now acquired four of the seven it still felt as though there were more problems arising than solutions. There was still no trace of Armen, your heart ached for the person you called a close friend, a companion you had once envisioned finding all the arks with had gone with that demon and had not been seen since. The memories of that day on the cliff were clear in your mind, reminding you how you and Thirain tried to stop him from walking through the portal but it was too late. There were just so many regrets from that day. Before your thoughts could spiral any further the site of a lone bird caught your attention and the faint traces of your magic was felt.
When the bird got close enough you raised an arm up and the small friend landed, chirping a greeting to you after not seeing you in some days. Giving him a snack you carefully untied the letter attached to him before gently moving him to the ballast of the ship. Without having to check you knew who the letter would be from, Thirain, the only person that would often communicate with you through your little messenger system and the one person you would keep in touch with most during your travels. It had been some days since you sent over your most recent letter updating Thirain of how your journey was going, having promised to do so before leaving the land of Luterra. Opening the letter you read its contents.
{ (Name), my dear knight.
I am glad to hear that you have been in good spirits as of late and that your mission to collect all the arks is going well even with the interference of the demon commanders.
I pray that when you do face the enemy that you will come back unharmed and please do not do anything too reckless in the quest for the arks.
I have been counting the days to hear from you again since your last letter, which felt so long ago.
Things here have been fine. There is still much to do to rebuild Luterra and to strengthen our defenses from any other possible attacks by the demons, since with you on the seas visiting other lands has left us much weaker than even I would like to admit but we all know that you are needed elsewhere, even if all the citizens of my kingdom miss your presence greatly.
As much as I wish to continue writing about the most recent events that have happened here in the castle, I am hoping that you will be able to hear it all in person soon.
A ball will be held here in the castle on the eve of the harvest moon to celebrate all that Luterra has accomplished since the Kingdom of Knights was reclaimed from Scherrit’s and the demon's hands.
Since you were the main reason for our victory it would be truly devastating if you were not here to celebrate alongside us all.
I know your journeys have taken you far and have kept you busy but I do hope you will be able to attend.
I don’t think I could possibly enjoy the celebrations without you here with me.
I wish you well until we next speak.
Your friend,
-Thirain}
Once you finished reading the letter you softly smiled, happy to know everything seemed well back in the land you left so long ago. However, the invite to the ball was something you felt you needed to think more on. You knew you would have more than enough time to sail back to Luterra in time to attend and see everyone you missed but could you risk taking a detoured stop to attend or would the next ark be claimed by the demons in that time? You needed to think a little more on this.
It was some time later and you had docked, ultimately having decided that returning to Luterra and joining in with the festivities would do you some good after all the troubling sights you had seen during the last few adventures you’d been on. Totally not because you couldn’t say no to Thirain’s request even if it was only through a letter.
The trek from the docks back to Luterra castle was refreshing, some things still needed a lot of work to recover from the demon attacks and monsters were still lurking near villages in great numbers but the people looked more hopeful. It was only when you’d step through the gate at the entrance of the Dyorka Plain that you noticed how busy it was, there were lots of people on the streets and more knights patrolling, since there was only a day left until the ball, the final preparations were being dealt with. “The Kings Knight!” “The Kings Knight has returned.” “She’s back” “She must be here for the ball.” Whispers came from all around as knights, merchants and civilians alike took note of the presence of you walking towards the palace.
Luck was on your side though, as the gossip of your return had yet to reach the king's ears so when you set foot into the palace and Thirain finally spotted you walking towards him the expression of pure surprise and joy was clearly visible. This made your own grin widen. “(name) you’re here!” He called, stepping away from an advisor he had been speaking with to meet you half-way. “Your letter arrived on a good day, no demon commanders to deal with and few leads on the next ark so I had some spare time to visit, my King.” You joked in response, mocking a bow before quickly going in and hugging him. “It’s really good to see you, Thirain.” Thirain in turn wrapped his arms around you, the metal of his armour was cold to the touch but something about it was still comforting. “Yes, I’ve missed you too, my friend.” The two quickly separated, you stepping back first since you knew others were watching.
“It looks lively out there today. I take it that preparations are going well? Need any help with things?” You asked, noticing that there was still a lot of movement even inside the palace. Thirain nodded. “Yes, it seems everyone is excited for tomorrow night. But there’s no need for you to help, you’ve just returned, I can’t ask you for anything more than just being here.”
“You know I don’t like standing about whilst there is work to be done, besides I’m offering.” The face Thirain pulled at the offer definitely said he was not going to allow you to do anything there to help out if he had his way. Before he could get another word out another voice chirped up. “King's Knight! What a surprise to have you back in time for the ball! I wasn’t expecting you to be able to make it back with how busy you have been in the other Kingdoms.” Meehan exclaimed, coming from behind and giving your back a couple heavy pats. “Ah Meehan, it's good to see you again. You're looking well, hopefully a certain someone hasn't been giving you any trouble.” Meehan laughed as you nodded in Thirain’s direction whilst the man rolled his eyes playfully in response.
“Nothing to complain about really. Just a lot to do to get Luterra back to full strength but we're getting there.” He paused then turned to face Thirain, becoming more serious. “And speaking of having a lot to do. My King, don’t you have a meeting to attend?” The realization of having other things to be doing washed over Thirain, he knew he should leave you to return to his duties but he wanted to stay by your side a little longer, he wanted to hear you talk of your adventures that he desperately wished he could have been beside you to experience. “Yes, though I am sure it can wait a little longer, Meehan. (name) has only just returned. I can't simply go and leave her here.” He tried to argue, it was a weak reason and he knew it. Before Meehan could counter or Thirain could dig himself a deeper hole you jumped in. “It’s fine Thirain. You have your duties and I understand that. Go, it’s not like I won’t see you later or tomorrow now is it?”
You spun the man around and began pushing him to walk away. “But-” “No buts! I need to speak with some others I haven’t seen in a while anyway so get moving” The two of you ended up laughing as Thirain finally gave up and left the hall to actually do what was needed of him. Meehan chuckled, exasperated by the effect you had on the King. “I wish you would have let him know you were coming in advance. He might have actually done all his work before you arrived and wouldn’t be looking like a kicked puppy now that he has to leave.”
“Cut him some slack Meehan, anyone would be happy if their friend returned after so long. Besides, if i’m to be honest, I wasn’t sure I would even be here in the first place but with the world as it is but I think even I needed something to lift my spirit, even if only for a day.” You turned around to face the knight once more. “Now, what is there left to be done? And please save us both some time and don’t tell me there’s nothing cause I can see a lot of people scrambling to finish their tasks, besides, I will just find Cassleford or someone else and ask them how I can help.”
“I’m glad to see you as helpful as ever. I'll take you to someone who needs help with their tasks and let you do your thing. But don’t forget that you should be relaxing too. Oh, you have got something to wear as well right?” Meehan waved for her to follow him and the two started walking from the palace hall. “Ummm, this doesn’t class as something to wear?” You asked, gesturing to your everyday clothes. “Gods no!” Meehan exclaimed, looking at you like you’d said something outrageous.  “This ball is hosting not only the nobles and common folk of Luterra but some of our allies as well. This is to celebrate our progress and hopes for peace. You may be the King’s Knight but you don’t have to look like you’re prepared to fight at a moment's notice.”
You briefly thought about it and agreed with what he said, he’d shown you where your help would be needed and left you to it. As you got on with helping prepare for the ball Meehan could only stare for a few seconds. “Regulus, give me strength. Those two are as bad as each other. Let’s hope the king doesn’t get too distracted now she’s back.”
The day quickly turned to evening as you helped sort out final preparations for the ball, by time you finished moving the last crate a merchant needed help with the sun had almost set. You’d been lucky enough to find a more suitable outfit for the ball and had even managed to catch up with a few others when you came across them. Before you could even go and look to find an inn to stay at for the night one of the knights had found you and brought to back to the palace to speak with Cassleford who’d informed you that you had a room in the palace to use and that you’d been asked to join the King for dinner as well as him, Meehan and some others.
The night went well, you spoke with Thirain and recounted some of what happened when looking for the arks as well as mentioning the lack of progress locating Armen's whereabouts. They shared similar stories and confirmed that they’d heard nothing from scouts looking for the priest either. The sombre mood that had ended the night off quickly became more joyous the next day, the day of the ball.
Vendors selling wares to newcomers and small shows in the plaza, it seemed everyone around was having a great time. Laughter and singing was heard throughout the castle grounds, only becoming louder as time passed into the evening when the main event of the ball began. As the sun fell over the horizon the halls of the palace filled with people from Luterra and further afield. The chatter grew as everyone discussed recent events and the latest gossip, like your presence at the ball.
Inside the palace you kept mainly to yourself as you normally did, tasting the different foods they had to offer and nursing your drink of choice as you watched everyone enjoy themselves in the centre of the grand hall, some gathering around officials whilst others listened to the musicians playing. There were some entertainers and dancers making others join in, it was lively, much more lively than what you last saw when you were here but it was nice. It seems things were looking good for Luterra and if all went well in their future repairs you could see the Kingdom being one of the first to reach true peace.
“King's Knight! I was wondering where you were. Enjoying the festivities?” Cassleford asked as he spotted you in the back of the crowd, near the tables lined with food. “Yes, I am. It’s nice to see everyone so happy after everything they’ve been through. How’s the patrols been? Hopefully you and the others have had no troubles and can enjoy yourselves a little as well?” Cassleford stood beside you looking over the crowd of people like you had been. “Good, it’s been quiet for the most part. Had a few drunken fools fighting but nothing serious. Most of my men are with their families but they're getting the job done so there are no complaints there.”
“Have you seen the King tonight? He and Meehan should be together but I’ve not seen them yet, patrols and such.” He asked. You nodded and pointed to the other side of the grand hall. “He was last over there speaking with some officials from what I saw.” Cassleford raised a brow. “You haven’t spoken with him yet?”  You shook your head a little. “Not yet. He’s been busy with talking with the crowd and other dignitaries. I wouldn’t want to get in the way.”
All Cassleford could think in response to that is that Meehan must be thanking the gods that the King hadn’t been distracted by you and was actually doing something to strengthen the bonds with other lands. He thanked you and excused himself to find his king and update him on the progress of the patrols, leaving you to go back to people watching. Every so often you would fiddle with the fabric of the thin jacket that acted as a partial dress over your nicer looking trousers and shirt, this was probably the most dressed up you had been in a while which was weird but even you thought you looked decent. At least you were comfortable and could still fight if anything were to happen, as even at the ball you refuse to drop your guard.
After grabbing a new cup of your drink of choice you figured you’d walk around a little, see if there was anyone else you knew who wasn’t too busy. Humming along with the beautiful sounds of string instruments as another song began, by now a lot of people had begun to dance on the dancefloor in the centre of the hall with their partners, it was sweet. Just as you were about to return to the food table to watch the people dancing, a very familiar voice came from behind and grabbed your attention. “(name), I’ve been looking for you everywhere. Cassleford said you’d helped him find Meehan and I… Why didn’t you come find me sooner?”
Thirain came up to you, pouting at the thought of you avoiding him. The crowd of people moving out of the way as their king walked past, the hushed whispers of the onlookers then began.  “Well, you did look busy Thirain. I didn’t want to interrupt you whilst you were speaking with those lords.” He sighed. “Even if I was chatting with others, you still should have come over. Your presence is far more enjoyable than their stuffy politics.” Now that he was in front of you, you could finally take him all in. Not wearing the normal bulky armour but a very fancy looking suit and jacket with gold accents on the black fabric and small pops of navy. “Well don’t you look dashing my King. The ladies must be swooning at the sight of you.” You teased, bowing mockingly as you said ‘my king’ like you’ve done since his day of his coronation, which made him chuckle a little.
“You look stunning as well (name), I still find it hard that I managed to miss you in the crowd with how well you’ve cleaned up. And don’t start with that, Meehan has been begging me to interact with one of the lords or dignitaries' daughters all night.” The two of you laughed a little at this. “Well don’t forget, stealth is one of my best weapons. But thank you, I was feeling a little underdressed in comparison but at least I know I don’t look terrible.” He rested a hand on your shoulder. “It’d take a lot for you to look terrible, you know.” He answered back, his gaze soft and only speaking the truth.
Quickly removing his gaze and his hand he turned his attention to the crowd so that his cheeks would have a chance to cool a little. “So, how’ve you been enjoying yourself so far?” He asked, trying to change the topic before he could say something that would overstep and ruin the mood. “This is probably the first ball I’ve ever been to. But even without something to compare it to I can honestly say this is truly wonderful and some of the most fun I have had in a while.” Thirain hummed in understanding, remembering that you’d once told him that your memories were hazy from before you began your quest for the arks. “What about you, been able to enjoy yourself whilst hosting?”
“It’s been fine for the most part. Though speaking with you now is already making the night more bearable.” He paused, an idea coming to mind as he looked over the crowd. “But there is one thing that would make this night far more enjoyable though.” You raised a brow. “And what would that be?” Thirain grinned. “I would love it if you would join me for a dance.” He had turned his gaze to you and offered his hand. Your eyes widen in surprise and you step back.
“I can’t dance.” Was your quick reply. “Don’t lie to me (name). I’ve heard how you’ve danced in the plaza before, so don’t make that excuse.”
You then shook your head as you looked anywhere but him. “That was different. It was more of a jig you’d do at the pub. Not one like that.” You pointed at the people dancing together on the dancefloor. “I can’t do that in front of so many people.” Thirain shot you a look that asked if you were serious before laughing. “Of all the things you have to be scared about and you are frightened of dancing in front of a crowd?” You growled a little and elbowed him in the ribs. “Shut it! I fight not dance you git. I just don’t want to go make a fool out of the both of us by stepping on your feet or tripping up. You forget that you have to make a good impression on potential allies too.”
Thirain held his side where you’d elbowed him and continued to laugh. “Well if that’s what you’re worried about then that’s no real problem.” He started, gently resting a hand on your shoulder and standing directly in front of you. “I can teach you how to do it. You’ll be fine, everyone respects you for everything you’ve done for us. Nothing you can do will tarnish that image. If you trip I’ll catch you and I don’t mind if you step on me.” He was making some good points but that innate fear was still holding you back. “But-” “No Buts. All you’ve said are excuses. You haven’t said no. If you don’t want to dance with me that’s fine, all you have to do is say so.”
You hesitate, so tempted to say yes but could you do it? You had so many eyes on you and dancing with the KING no less would have everyone at the ball analysing everything you did. Thirain could see you breaking a little. “Please” The small pout and puppy eyes then came out. “Just one dance.” With that you had lost your internal battle. “Just one?” “Just one dance.” You paused and he grinned. “And you won’t get upset if I step on your toes?” He chuckled. “Step on them all you like, I can handle that, no problem.”  You sighed in defeat. “Fine. But if I suck and embarrass the both of us it’s your fault!” You exclaimed and pointed at him accusingly.
Once more Thirain offered you his hand, this time you took it and he then led the two of you to the dancefloor. People stepped out of your way as you walked by, more and more eyes on the two of you. The whispers that spread like wildfire were overwhelming and you were starting to regret your decision. Before you could run off and out of everyone's line of sight, Thirain turned, letting go of your hand and then placed one on your back. He took your left hand in his right and smiled at you softly as you reluctantly placed your right hand on the side of his arm. The music changed as a new song began. “Now all you need to do is follow my lead. I’ll move one foot forward, you move yours back with it and then when I move one back you follow. Simple right?” You rolled your eyes. “Sure, simple enough when you have enough practice but I don’t” You hissed a little. “Well to be honest, I haven’t danced since I was a boy so I’m a little rusty.” Again your eyes widen at this revelation. “You what?! I thought you-” “And lets go.” He butted in, gently nudging you back as your feet stumbled to match his movements.
You were looking at the ground for a short while, trying to see where you should move your feet next, suddenly you felt a loss of warmth on your back and then felt Thirain gently turning your head up to look at him. “Keep staring at your feet and your movements will stay rigid.” You then stumbled a little. “How will I know where to put my feet and which one to move if I can’t look at them?” Thirain moved his hand back to its place, he pulled you a little closer. “Just let me lead and you’ll figure it out. You just need to trust me (name). You trust me right?”  You almost wanted to laugh at that question, was he serious? But as you looked into his blue eyes you relaxed a little and spoke with all the emotion you could muster. “Of course I do. I trust you with my life.”
“Then follow my lead. One foot back, then the next one. Now one forward.” He trailed off as he clearly telegraphed his movements for you, shaky steps on your part became more fluid, even with a few toes stepped on and sorry’s in the process. “There you go, already got the hang of it.” He cheered, encouraging you more. “Barely. I hardly feel graceful either. I must’ve looked like a fawn trying to walk for the first time.” By now you were more relaxed and back to your more playful self. It was then that the song that had been playing came to an end. Just as a new one was going to start you went to separate from Thirain but he pulled you in closer by the waist. You shot him a questioning look. “What happened to ‘Just one dance’, hmm?”
"That one didn't count, I was just teaching you how to do the steps, now you know what you're doing I'd say that technically this would be our first proper dance, right?" The cheeky little grin he was trying to hide didn't go unseen to you but you had to admit that you enjoyed dancing with Thirain, even if most of Luterra was watching the two of you. "Well look at you, seems you've learnt something from all those diplomats. Getting another dance out of me because of a technicality. I'll play along but it's just this one dance now, got it?" The two of you shared a quiet laugh as Thirain led you into the next dance.
It felt as though the rest of the world faded as the two of you stared at each other, there was a comfortable silence as the two of you got used to the new song and moved around the dancefloor. When there was a new move to be added, Thirain would give you a quick heads up and let the flow of the music do the rest. It was Thirain that broke the silence first. “I know you’ve already gone over most of your adventures but I’m curious about one thing.” This piqued your interest. “And what would that be?”
“It’s about the conditions of the lands you visited. From what you wrote in letters and told me it sounds like they’ve all had trouble with the demons like Luterra has. I want to know if there is anything we can do to help them rebuild in any way.” This was a bit of a surprise to you but then again the man you danced with was compassionate and a great ruler who cared deeply for his people. It seemed he wished to spread that compassion across Arkesia. “Tortyk has been overrun by pirates for some time now, even with my intervention there they seem to still have a large base there which makes it dangerous for the Mokoko that live there. So some aid in clearing the shores there would do them some good.” You started, thinking about all the places you’d visited in your quest for the arks.
“Anikka for the most part is doing well, they’ve had to recover from a betrayal of one of their strongest fighters but their grandmaster is a strong leader. They’ve been lucky with their land so the effects of the demons should fade with a little time, plus they have a sidereal on their side. Arthetine is in the control their parliament, with Bastian and Sasha being the best people in charge, so I can see things improving with a bit of time. But their land is mostly barren so even an offer of aid when it is most needed would go a long way for the Cykins.” Taking another pause to gather the rest of your thoughts you sighed a little. “I’ve only had the chance to visit North Vern so far but their Queen Ealyn has been doing well for them. They have  suffered at the hands of a necromance that has been now been dealt with so they should be nearing full strength once more, well I assume so.”
“Then there is Shushire… They need the most help after everything done at the hands of the demon commander Akkan and the corruption that Vrad had caused.  The land is suffering due to the lack of fertile soil and people have been turned to slaves for simply not being able to survive. Madnick, is a great leader now he has taken rule from Vrad but it is going to be a long time until they recover even slightly. I doubt they’d have the strength to fight another demon attack on their own.”  Thirain’s expression was one of sadness as he pulled you in closer, almost into a full on hug. “I’m sorry you’ve had to see so much of that on your own… It must have been difficult.”
You hummed in agreement. “Yes. This quest has been a hard one, since it hasn’t just been demons that have been the problem. Sometimes it was the greed of mortals that has been our greatest downfall. I just try to think of the positives on the hard days, the friends I’ve made and the hope that the people have been given again.”  You then laughed a little to yourself. “What’s so funny?” Thirain asked. “Ah, I just remembered something from Shushire, that's all.” He raised a brow. “Well don’t keep me waiting.”
Another small laugh came from you. “I just remembered that for some people living there, there is more hope for the future than fears... It was after the daybreakers and I celebrated our victory and I was preparing to continue on my journey, a young lad, probably our age who’d helped me a great deal at the time. Well he proclaimed his love for me.” You paused and smiled at the memory before muttering out. “Sweet lad.”
Whilst reminiscing you didn’t take note of the more serious frown Thirain had. “Really? What did you say?”  “Well I obviously told him I couldn’t accept his feelings at the time.” Another small sting to Thirains heart. “Oh, at the time? Do you plan to go back to him then?” You looked up and raised a brow. “Wow, someone's curious today. But if you have to know, I only told him that to spare his feelings. He’s young, he'll find someone better for him than me. And even if I did return the sentiment, it would have been cruel to string him on like that when I don’t know when I could return… or if I’ll even make it out of this ordeal alive.” Relief washed over Thirain a bit knowing your heart had yet to be claimed for the most part, yet a sombre mood fell over the two of you as you acknowledged a worry that was always at the back of his mind. That there may be a day you would not return to him because of you losing your life, it was a painful thought to have.
“Don’t sell yourself short. Anyone would be the luckiest person in the world to be able to call you theirs. You’ll live to see the fate of a new Arkesia, I’m sure of it. You are the strongest person I know. Who else could single-handedly save six lands and gather half of the arks?” Your face reddened slightly from embarrassment at his overly kind words. “Easy there Thirain. Keep speaking about me like that and I might get a huge ego. And you know as much as I do that I have had people helping along the way. I couldn’t have made it as far as I have without people like you at my side.”
At this point Thirain had pulled you in so close that your chests were touching, having done so when you were speaking. It felt like you had been dancing for hours but the song playing was only half-way done. The eyes of some nobles bore into you but you chose to ignore it and for once enjoyed yourself without feeling guilty for not working.
There was a comfortable silence between the two of you when Thirain spoke up. “(name), after you return to your quest I want you to know that you are always welcome back in Luterra. You don’t need to do all of this on your own.” You looked at him somewhat confused. “I know that. Why bring it up?” “It's just that I want you to view Luterra as a home whenever you return. And hopefully a home you will stay in once your quest is over.” You wanted to respond but the words were caught in your throat. Before you could say anything Thirain once again gave you a heads up. “Alright, I’m going to let you step back for a twirl now.”
You followed his instruction and spun, then returned to his arms. “Was that really necessary?” You asked. “Of course it was.” You pulled a face as Thirain tried to cover his grin. “Oh sure it was, mister ‘That last dance didn’t count because of a technicality’, I bet you just wanted to show of how 'rusty' you are.” You both chuckled. The mood was once again cheerful as you both reached the end of the song, speaking about random topics that popped to mind. When the song reached its end Thirain asked if you trusted him once more. Like before the answer was yes.
Just before the final chords were played Thirain had you lean back and did an almost romantic dip. You both stared into each others eyes, so many emotions welling up which remained unsaid. And once the song finished you were pulled up once more. A light dusting of pink on both your cheeks from how close you had both been. Stepping back you mocked a bow. “Thank you for the dance, my King.” Thirain laughed, and bowed his head down in turn. “The pleasure was mine, my most loyal Knight.”
You both left the dancefloor and were approached by others in the crowd, Meehan back at Thirain’s side trying to coax him into dancing with at least one of the lord's daughters but he said he felt more like mingling than dancing. The night went on and the festivities continued, with you close to Thirain whilst chatting with other attendees, sadly not always by his side like he wanted but for now it was the best he could ask for. It was only into the early hours of the next day did you retire to your room, the celebrations having come to a close not long before you did so. Just as you made the walk to your room you and Thirain bid each other a good night, there was some hesitance before you left but without another word you turned and walked away.
When the sun had risen later that day and many had woken up, the cleaning up of the palace and streets began. Thirain was up somewhat early for a meeting with a few of his advisors and once he was finished he asked anyone he saw if they’d seen you. All responded to that question with no, suggesting you were still asleep from the long night and the fact you’d been helping with setting up the day before something you'd done without him knowing which was just like you he thought. Leaving it a little longer and after another hour of you not being seen he went to investigate. He’d asked a maid that came from your room's direction if she had seen you but like everyone else she said she hadn’t.
Standing outside the room you slept in he took a breath to compose himself, not wanting to wake you up if you were still sleeping but still worried in the off chance there was something wrong. He knocked on the door a couple times and heard nothing. “(name)?” He knocked again and there was still no reply. “(name)? It's Thirain. Are you alright?” He asked and knocked for a third time with you still not responding. “I’m coming in.” He announced after a few minutes of hearing nothing on your end. The door opened and he walked into the room to see nothing, the bed was made and the drapes open to let in the light but there was no sight of you. On edge, he walked the room and noticed the window was slightly ajar from not being locked from the inside. Looking outside he didn’t see you at all, turning he went to investigate further but an envelope caught his eye.
Sat atop the desk in the far corner of the room was an envelope, he picked it up and saw his name written in the handwriting he saw every time he received a letter from you. Leaning against the table he hastily opened the envelope to read the letter.
{Thirain,
I assume you found this letter whilst looking for me.
I’m sorry but I had to go, my mission can’t be put on hold forever and there are still people that need my help. There are still demon commanders to be stopped and we still have to find Armen.
Last night was wonderful, though I can’t believe you made me dance in front of everyone with you.
I am thankful you invited me along, after seeing so much darkness in the world it was a refreshing change of pace, even if for just one night. It feels like I can take on anything now.
I don’t know if you remember much from all of our conversations last night but something you said has been bothering me.
You said you hope that one day I could view Luterra as a home to return to once my mission for the arks is complete and Arkesia has been saved.
At the time I didn’t know how to properly reply to this but now that I have had some time to think I want you to know the truth.
Luterra is my home, maybe not the home I was born in, grew up in or learnt how to fight in. But, Luterra is where I long to return to.
It is where my quest began, it is where I found my courage to fight the army of demons that grows ever stronger. It is where I have made friends who actually accept me for who I am, even if there are those in the world that will continue to hate my kind.
It is where I have had some of the happiest and saddest days.
It is where I met you, before you had become the king of a land I have grown to love dearly.
I do not know the next time I will be able to return here but I hope that when I do that the quest to gather the arks and protect Arkesia would have gotten closer to its end.
Knowing it may be some time before I can set foot here again, I will continue to miss Luterra greatly.
Even if my quest is not complete when I next return, I hope that I will return with good news at least or if the fates allow it, Armen will come home as well.
Now don’t go moping around now that you don’t have an excuse to slack off, you have your duties and I have mine. Plus I think Meehan is becoming tempted to whip you into shape if you don’t do your best.
But even if your duties require a lot of you don’t work too hard and please take care of yourself.
Do not worry I will continue to write and I hope you will as well, your letters always make the days at sea less lonely.
I'm sorry for leaving without saying goodbye, but I did not want this to feel like a final farewell. It would have been difficult for the both of us.
Instead, let's just say that even though we are apart we shall continue our strong friendship, goodbyes sound more final and like we will separate for long with no way of telling if we will see or hear from each other once more.
Instead, I will say until we meet again, be it on the seas, in another kingdom or when I return home to you here in Luterra. I do not know what the future holds or if I will be successful in my quest but I am certain that we will meet again.
Yours,
-(name)}
As Thirain was reading your letter with a sad smile, he couldn’t help but chuckle. “I should have known she’d leave. My stubborn Knight.”
At the same time Thirain was reading your letter you were already on your ship, staring out at the land of Luterra as it began shrinking from the distance growing between you and it. You had left Luterra castle not long after you retired for the night, you’d written that letter then left through the window and disappeared into the night. Like Thirain, you too had a sad smile, already missing him and the place you thought of as a home. Yet your resolve to find the arks and stop the destruction waiting to happen by the demons was stronger than ever.
In the castle Thirain took the letter you had written and returned to his study, placing it in a small draw along with the rest of the letters you had sent before looking out the window in the direction of the port. “Your right (name) this isn’t goodbye. Until we meet again. And maybe next time if the situation is right, maybe we could have just one more dance.”
You held a letter in your hand, a draft of the one you left for Thirain that you didn’t want him to see. It was too wordy and had some embarrassing parts you knew you couldn’t say. Tearing it up into pieces you let them drop over the side of the ship, the wind picking it up and spreading it over the ocean. “Until we meet again Thirain. I pray you stay safe.” There was a pause and you grinned. “Next time there's a ball, maybe we can have more than just one dance.”

Bloody hell I wrote way more for this than I expected. Hopefully it was alright for my first proper fic and Thirain wasn't too ooc in this.
Now back to catching up on the game.

b, j (for alone at the edge of a universe), k, and x!
OOH THANK YOU! Link to the post here if anyone else wants to ask me stuff B: Any of your stories inspired by personal experience? Hmm, the only one that is (and only sort of) is Community Gardens, because that's sort of uh, me getting the reader to say to Komaeda what I wish I could say to myself I guess lol. I have self esteem issues, YAHOO!
J: Write or describe an alternative ending to [insert fic].
SICK PRANK. i am STILL after all these years working on chapter 2, I swear. But hm, if I wasn't planning a sequel, I would probably have just cut the final line altogether. I will post a little snip from the second chapter as a treat (under the cut at the bottom) K: What’s the angstiest idea you’ve ever come up with?
Oh yeah, this is easy. I thought up this fic idea about a girl who meets Komaeda while he's getting treatment at the hospital, and she was going to take him out on little adventures and they would fall in love but he was going to die at the end. I made myself too sad thinking about it, so I will not write it. free real estate if someone else wants to write it instead lol. It was semi based on the song Firewood by Regina Spektor if you know it X: A character you enjoy making suffer.
OOH FUN! Tbh it isnt real suffering, but I do bully Souda constantly even though I really like him lol. But hm, I don't often write angst or anything like that so I'm wracking my brain a little. I think the real characters I like to make suffer are my fangan OCs lol. can't wait to kill them.
Tumblr media
as promised, treat under the cut. There will be a lotta preamble before reader actually meets up with Komaeda again, but I'm giving you a taste of the good stuff
His eyes widen when he sees you fall, and you hear your name leave his lips as he breaks into a run.
A sob breaks loose from your throat, harsh and loud. Tears stream down your face and you cry so much that it hurts. Lungs burning as you desperately heave breath after breath between your wails.
He drops to his knees next to you, wrapping his arms tight around your shoulders. He even smells right.
“It’s okay.” He whispers, his voice sounding tight in his throat like he is trying not to cry, “I’m here now, I’m so sorry, I didn’t mean to leave you, I’m so so sorry.”
Tears race down your cheeks, and you can’t manage a single word through your aching sobs. Instead, you circle your arms around his torso and hold him as tight as you can, burying your face in the crook of his neck. He’s here, he’s home. You have no idea where he went for so long, or why he left without saying goodbye, but right now you don’t have it in you to care. He’s alive, and he’s back.
“I’ll get you out of here, we can go somewhere safe I promise.” He says shakily.
Your voice hiccups, but you manage to whisper, “You’re okay…” He laughs. It isn't the same raspy giggles that you are used to, it’s softer, and he sounds relieved. He leans backward, gently holding you by the shoulders so he can look you in the eye, “I am, I’m okay.”

19, 22, 24 and 32! ❤️
Oh thanks for asking 💜 I’m gonna put my rambling under a cut.
19. Tell me a story about your writing journey. When did you start? Why did you start? Were there bumps along the way? Where are you now and where are you going?
I have been reading fanfic since I was about twelve, starting with LotR, but the earliest thing I really remember writing were these stories about this group of online-turned-offline friends that I had when I was fifteen. We all wrote a different ‘alternate universe’ versions of our little group going on some adventure. In hindsight, the stories were relatively cringey and obviously full of inside jokes, but to put it in cliche terms, it ignited a spark. Around that same time I read a really popular HP/marauders fanfic that actually inspired me to read the HP books and then I was brave enough/inspired to write my first fanfics. At first I wrote something that I thought people would want to read (in my own language) so I tried writing stuff like Sirius/Remus, and I was so used to constant praise for my writing (because my readers were all my friends) that it started to feel fake almost. Eventually I just wanted to write something that nobody I knew would ever see, so I chose a username nobody would think to connect to me, started writing in English and wrote something I actually wanted to write which was a self-indulgent, practically self-insert OC romance fic. Cringe, maybe. But so much fun.
So I’ve been writing on and off for nearly 18 years, mostly off, and you don’t even need all your fingers and toes to count the things I’ve finished. I’m not the most productive. It’s the same as with any hobby; I get really into it for a while and then eventually it fizzles out. I take breaks that last months, years even. I am at a point where I don’t know if I’ll ever call myself a good writer, but there are certain parts of my writing that I actually really love. For the first time I’m also writing with intent and not just making stuff up as I go along and I want to challenge myself a little more, exploring some darker themes etc.
22. How organized are you with your writing? Describe to me your organization method, if it exists. What tools do you use? Notebooks? Binders? Apps? The Cloud?
Not very. I am generally an organized person, but when I write I put the whole story and everything related to that into one Google Doc. I can’t stand having to switch between documents or having anything separate.
24. How much prep work do you put into your stories? What does that look like for you? Do you enjoy this part or do you just want to get on with it?
Honestly? Not enough probably. When I have an idea for a story, it can be anything from one scene that evolves into something entirely different or a whole story arc that just appears out of thin air. Like, Kendall/Avery literally started off as ‘Kendall meets a girl in rehab and has sex with her’ and was meant to be a one shot. And Lukas/Gia came to me sort of fully formed late at night. My plans are usually very short, just a quick list of things that happen in each chapter. Since I write exclusively romance/smut/relationships, I start writing from the point where the characters meet because that’s usually very clear in my mind, and then I write a bunch of unrelated scenes that I have already imagined taking place. Eventually I backtrack to the actual beginning and try to write chronologically, but it’s a lot of back and forth and connecting these scattered scenes with each other. But there is always a plan, even if it is constantly evolving it doesn’t fundamentally change, and I always know what I’m writing towards. So basically, no, I don’t do a lot of prep work, but while I’m writing I’m working on the entire story at once. I also don’t like prep work, but it is helpful and it keeps me in check.
Back when I did zero planning, I started writing and posting a Bucky Barnes/OC story chapter by chapter and it went off the rails a little bit and eventually turned into a Tony Stark/OC story which… made sense and it was kind of like the characters had a life of their own, but obviously that wasn’t what my readers had signed up for. If I had a plan, maybe that wouldn’t have happened or I would’ve realized it was inevitable while planning. Idk. That story was/is 130k words and technically I never finished or wanted it to end where it did, but I lost interest and a few years later I came back to it to see that it had run its course and the ending actually kind of worked as ‘the finale.’ Sometimes I have a hard time ending things; a plan helps with that.
32. What is a line from a poem/novel/fanfic etc that you return to from time and time again? How did you find it? What does it mean to you?
“You all know, don’t you, that if people are frightened very often, they sometimes become invisible.”
From the short story The Invisible Child by Tove Jansson. And I don’t know if it’s this line specifically, but off the top of my head this is a story that comes to mind as something that has held meaning for me since I was young and now again as a parent. It’s about Ninny, who has literally turned invisible due to living with her child-hating, abusive aunt. In a nutshell: she comes to live with the Moomin family, finds respect and love and learns to speak for herself. In many ways I relate to Ninny a lot and I think somewhere along the way I overcorrected and instead of being invisible, people pleasing and afraid I became almost confrontational and too tough. Inside I will always be Ninny, though.

So I had have a rough day yesterday and today I was still emotional. Therefore I wrote a little self-insert angst, but also comfort story with one of my dear husbandos. I wanted to share it with you. I made it GN reader.
Enjoy <3
Izo x GN reader SFW Word count: 1,550 TW: Angst, light mentioning of emotional abuse
Tumblr media
Once more the Moby Dick left port; left an island behind, the new adventure awaited the crew on the endless sea that was their home. There was a buzz on deck, everyone fulfilling their duties; functioning as one big smooth machine. They’d picked up a few new crew members, expanding their family on the island, all just watching amazed, as the seasoned pirates did their thing and helped the ship out onto the vast blue sea. First then were they showed around; showed where their rooms were and how to find their way around the ship. The rules were told, emphasis on those that weren’t really rules, but more guidelines and no go, if you wanted to survive the sea and the wrath of certain people.
Izo finally ended his tour, having been assigned three new siblings to show around. All day he’d been working; getting the last supplies on board and keeping track of his division to make sure no one was left behind – again. It was the commander’s responsibility to make sure everyone was onboard, though it could be hard to keep track on so many people. Luckily for the 16th division commander he had never left one from his division behind.
Taking a deep breath, Izo went to get some tea, before he would head to his office and work on the papers for Marco to file later. Izo liked getting a head start on them, so he could enjoy more free time without stressing. Whenever they left port, there was always a ton of work to be done, but if Izo did them right away, he would be able to spend more time with you.
He stopped dead in his track, as his thoughts landed on you. You hadn’t been on deck, watching the island fade into the horizon as usual. He hadn’t seen you since waking up this morning. Had you left the ship without telling him? No, you wouldn’t do that; he knew you too well, but then where were you? Deciding for the first time in a long time that the paperwork could wait, he changed his course and went to your shared room.
There was no light on, the last ray of the day barely lightening up the room for him to distinguish the shadows from each other. He stayed in the door, listening, but sadly your family was too loud for him to hear if you were in the room or not. He called your name, but no answer came. His heart started to race, but he didn’t let it get to him, as he took a lamp and turned it on. The shadows danced around and when he looked at your shared bed, he could tell that there was where you were; hiding beneath the blankets.
Entering the room fully, he silently walked over to check up on you. Maybe you were just tired after a long day or feeling under the weather and he didn’t want to disturb you unnecessarily. Placing the lamp and tea on the night stand, he sat down and gently untangled the blankets from your body.
“Are you okay, darling?” His soft dark voice was calm, though with an undertone of worries. It wasn’t often you hid like this and it was the first time you did so without him knowing it. This morning you’d gotten into bed after a night shift that you had to do. Just because you were dating a commander, didn’t mean you could avoid your duties. You took your duties just as serious as your lover and he loved that about you. However, this meant he hadn’t really gotten to talk to you and since you’d been on guard all night, it meant you didn’t go to have breakfast as usual – or lunch.
You didn’t say anything, back turned to him and you stared into the wall. Actually, you didn’t really register him; your mind was occupied with a lot of thoughts that flooded your mind.
A soft sigh left him, as you didn’t respond. He’d seen you depressed and hiding under the blankets before, but you’d always mumbled something to him when he asked you. This silence was unsettling, but he didn’t let the fear that tugged on his heart get a hold on him. You could have fallen asleep; he couldn’t see your face from where he was sitting.
Feeling the bed move as he shifted his position, you widened your eyes, as you felt him lie behind you – probably at the edge of the bed – his arm wrapped around you and a soft kiss was placed on your head. The sheer love you felt, overwhelmed you and it was enough to make you cry.
Izo tensed a little, but tightened his hold on you. “It’s okay, I’m here for you.”
For a while you cried, moving closer to the wall, to give him more space on the bed. As you calmed down, you turned around, burying your face into his chest. You felt him pull you as close as you could get and you felt saved, but most of all, loved.
“Today is her birthday.” You whispered, though knowing he would be puzzled. You hadn’t told him about the hurt you’ve been through as a child, teen and young adult; hadn’t told how it still affected you or who had hurt you this much. All he knew was that you hadn’t had the greatest life growing up and that it sometimes caused rough days for you; days he’d already seen some of.
A hum left him, as to tell you he was listening. You knew he didn’t need to know everything to love you; didn’t need to know what was broken to heal you. However, you felt the need to tell him; felt the need to let it out. Maybe you could better heal when you’d said everything out loud.
“My egg donor’s birthday.” You clarified, though you knew he was frowning at the way you described your mother – or rather the woman birthing you. “She is narcissistic, always making me feel half full. There were things I wasn’t allowed to feel or rather mentioning or showing I felt. Nothing I did was good enough; she would always make me feel like a disappointment; like I was a waste of her time.” You started to sob again.
His hand rubbed your back; a kiss was placed on your head. He didn’t know what to say, but you didn’t need to hear any words right now. You just needed him to hold you; sooth you. Actually, you just wanted to know if he would still be with you even if you felt like your mother was right. The way he held you; the kiss he placed on your head, told you what his words always said. That he loved you no matter what.
Slowly you unloaded onto him; told him that if he didn’t want to hear more, he should tell you, but he didn’t. He let you talk; let you unload all you needed to unload. He let you cry; let you scream your frustration out. Right now he all he could do was listening, each word making he want to go back to your home island and tell your mother off, but at the other hand, he had a feeling that little did it help. Now it all made sense to him. Why you were on the streets and the hesitation to accept them as family.
As you were done, the only light in the room was that from the lamp. Silence fell over you. Your face was wet from the tears; his chest too and you felt exhausted, but you also felt lighter. As if your baggage was slowly leaving you. You knew that these things took time; you needed more time to process it.
“Thank you, darling. For opening up to me. I didn’t know I could fall more in love with you, but I just did. You’re so brave and so strong; I didn’t even know just how amazing you were. I love you. With every breath I take; with every moment I look at you.” He gently placed his slender fingers under your cheek and made you look at him, before he gave you a soft and loving kiss.
He could taste the salt from your tears, but it didn’t matter. All that he could think of was how he would use the time he had with you to shower you in love and prove your mother wrong. With all his heart, he would try and undo the wrong your mother had done to you. You deserved all the love in the world and he was sure that each relationship you made on this ship would help you feel just how loved you were.
You smiled into the kiss and then nuzzled into him. His words were like a blanket; making you feel warm and loved. Yes, your life up until coming here had been bad, but now you could see the light; see the future. It would take time and you would hit low again, but with Izo at your side; with his love, you could do it. No, the two of you could do it together. The future was yours.

💖because I'm curious
🤗because I need some
✨because you deserve it, queen
Rnskdkdo gosh, I feel so special 😭💖💖 thank you so much for the ask!!! Sorry this is another long one lol, but I hope you enjoy, these were fun!
💖 What made you start writing?
Oh gosh, I've been writing since I was 13 I think lol, so a little hard to say 😂😂 I've always had a really strong imagination I suppose, so when I'd consume a new type of media or "fandom" I always wanted to do so much more with the characters then what little I was given on the TV screen, so I started writing my own adventures for them :D
And look at me now 😂👍🏻
🤗 Advice for new writers?
Well I did answer here technically lol, but I do love to pretend I'm all that when it comes to writing, so I can drop another tip 😂😂
I feel like maybe this kind of relates back to the original answer I gave? but typing out a characters inner thoughts can be just as important as writing out their dialogue, ESPECIALLY if you're dealing with a particularly complex, or even disturbed, character. Yes yes, it helps build atmosphere and prose in your writing, but more importantly it gives us as the reader a chance to relate to or at the very least, understand said character and their feelings/motivations
How much or how little you let us peer into a character's psyche depends on how much you want us to either hate or else emphasize with the character, after all. For example Sabretooth, when written to his fullest, is an extremely disturbed individual of course- he doesn't see people or lives, he sees objects to maim and destroy. Killing is fun for him, and the bloodier the better.
You could only frame his mindset about killing for fun and not seeing people as people to make us despise him- that way we feel our emotional investment is paid off if/when he is defeated later on. On the other hand, sabretooth kills and hates people (*cough*humans) because he was severely and horrifically abused, even tortured tbh, as a child so invoking information like that and certainly his own memories of those times could be used to make us feel sympathy for him instead, if that's what you wanted.
Either way, it's all about getting your readers to feel- and no better way then to get your character to tell us what they're REALLY thinking by putting us in their heads 👍🏻
✨ Complement your own work, mwahahaha
Smskslsls another hard one 😭😂 Well a little secret of mine is that I will basically never write about a situation or story unless either I myself have experienced it, I witnessed someone in my personal life experience it, or I have taken the adequate time to become EXTREMELY familiar with the circumstances surrounding what I'm writing- simply bc I strive to write as realistic as possible for my readers
I guess I do like that a lot about my writing lol. Often times I'll read other fics, particularly reader inserts, and it just feels extremely obvious (to me at least) that the person writing it has never experienced, or at least never closely studied, the emotional situation they're writing about. It immediately triggers this very intense case of "real people do not and furthermore, would never, act this way in these circumstances" and pulls me out of the story you know?
So yeah, I'm proud that I pour out my heart and soul to try (with over all success, I'd dare say) my utmost to make sure my readers never get that jarring feeling while reading my work

😈💖👀✅🤭✨
Ahhhh so manyyyy !!! Thank you !! <3 <3 <3
this one got long so it's under a cut ahaha
😈 Has there been a point in a story where you did something just to be playfully mean to your readers?
Ohohoho yes. I remember writing the cliffhanger in Beep Beep Beep where I deliberately kept it vague over whether something terrible had happened to Ochako, and then just cut it off mid-sentence. That was delicious.
Actually, thinking about it, I've done the cliffhanger ending to a chapter in quite a few fics - not even just to hook readers in, but specifically because thinking of it made me cackle like a disney villain so I had to do it !!!
💖 What made you start writing?
I read a story on Neopets that somebody had written and it blew my tiny little Izupie mind because I realised that, hey hang on a minute, anyone can write stories??? And then as a kid you have no concept of Cringe and you just want to hang out with your favourite characters, and thus, my cringey fanfiction writer self was born. I wrote so much self-insert fanfiction as a kid because I realised I could read it back and it was like I got to hang out with my favourite characters and have adventures with them over and over! any time I wanted!
👀 Tell me about an up and coming wip please!
Talking about cringe *finger guns* (man that was a good bridging answer actually)
I'm still in my Supernatural Era, so I have a bunch of Supernatural wips that I'm trying to wrangle into coherent stories like herding cats. Exciting for me because ohh these are some truly self indulgent and delicious tropes <3
But! I also have the next part of my bnha/Izuocha collab fic with Encyclopika that is ongoing and that is! exciting! Seeing it evolve and our writing styles mesh has been sooo much fun!!
Did I really even answer this question??? lmao asdfghjk
✅ What's something that appears in your fics over and over and over again, even if you don't mean to?
am I self aware enough to answer this question? hmmm...
Banter-y dialogue? like, flirty back-and-forths?? I do that a lot. I suddenly realised the other day that my stories keep having these little flirty banter sections, no matter what fandom or ship it is. And I was like, well let's not examine this too closely
Also just, so much focusing on eyes. I'm surprised nobody has ever pulled me up on it honestly. I'm always writing what people's eyes are doing, but that's how I read expressions the most so it's how I represent them the most! does that make sense? !?
🤭 Do you have a favorite tag to use when posting your works?
Fluff
*ding* next question!
(I answered a question in one word, what is going onnnnn)
✨ Give you and your writing a compliment. Go on now. You know you deserve it. 😉
listen. guys. how dare. how dare you all gang up on me in this way
adsfdghjkl
ummm, okay, it was hard enough to think of the first one - how about.....
I love the way that some people have said that my writing has cheered them up, or given them a boost. That really warms my heart. It's so special to know that something that came out of my brainworms has actually affected somebody's mood. and made them feel better! I made them smile with my words and weird tropey stories that I thought only I would enjoy! That makes me proud of myself and this weird lil hobby
