Alexi baby, I think we need to have a discussion about what the phrase "crossover event" really means and the expectations it sets.

The Marina of It All
I can’t stop thinking about Maya and Carina’s arc on Station 19 this season. It’s bewitched me body and soul in a way that network television really hasn’t in so long so let’s talk about it (gif makers thank you in advance!).
Tumblr media
To put it lightly there’s been a longstanding “tradition” to ruin queer relationships in television. Either death, disagreement (who wants kids?) or the show’s cancellation we rarely get to see a full arc from their initial meeting to dating to engagement, marriage and all the bumps along the way. Marina really is incredibly rare. I cannot overstate how rare they are. Sure they’re on an ensemble show but they’re fully on network television in very much a primetime slot. Thursday nights are as coveted as it gets in network - it’s huge. This season in particular has really just been so well thought out as they’re fully utilizing the previous three seasons (and really the whole series in Maya’s case) to create an incredible emotional arc. This is also why I’m constantly going off about the importance of network television! The longevity of it is what gives such depth to storytelling that you really don’t get in any other medium.
Tumblr media
Okay but why are Marina important? And why this arc? Honestly, I’ve just never seen a sapphic relationship handled with this much care. I’ve never doubted that they would actually break up even after that hospital scene. There’s been so much groundwork laid this season that has constantly given reassurance in a way that’s made this such an incredible journey to go on (and it’s not done yet). There’s never been any doubt to how much Maya and Carina love each other no matter the situation. Their rift wasn’t caused simply for the sake of drama but to borrow from Maya’s metaphor: their foundation was never finished. It was never solid and filled with cracks. We know Maya’s mental health was at risk, we’ve known since the beginning of this relationship but it was never Carina’s job to fix (as much as she tried).
Tumblr media
What Station 19 has done so well is explore how these characters who deal with traumatic situations day in and day out also need to handle their own trauma. Is it perfect? Absolutely not but the appearances that Diane has made throughout the show have all been incredibly impactful. I would love to see more of Carina’s backstory at this point (there’s so much there!) but Maya’s growth especially this season is some of the best I’ve ever seen. Instead of just ending this marriage completely, we’ve been shown that Maya is capable of working through her issues. That she’s redeemable and that relationships take work (so much work!). It’s such a mature way to handle this and we almost never see it in media and definitely not for queer relationships.
Tumblr media
The fact that these two characters from different shows with such similar backgrounds were put together and it worked in every way conceivable is as magical as it gets. I haven’t even touched on Danielle and Stefania’s chemistry because it’s just too much to talk about. Let’s just call it fantastico and appreciate the beauty of every one of their interactions.
Tumblr media
At the end of the day, is this show perfect? No, of course not. Does it delve into every character as much as I’d like? No, it’s too big of an ensemble. However, it continually pushes the boundaries of what’s been acceptable on network television. What the show has done this season is say “hey, we’ve got this couple that people like and we’re going to put them through the ringer but they’ll be better off for it and our audience will know even a queer couple is valid and important and real”. I know that hasn’t always been the case but it’s important to acknowledge now.

I’ve been digesting the video essay Orientalism & the Gerudo over the past couple of days. The first half of the video is a basic, consolidated summary of arguments I’ve seen people make about SWANA representation and Black representation regarding the Gerudo that also includes more academic sources to try to explain to newcomers or people unfamiliar with the term “Orientalism” where these points came from. I’m hoping this opens up some discussions across the wider fandom.
My only criticism is that, sometimes, the points can meander a bit between each other without clear boundaries between which talking point is which, leading to occasional moments of “Huh? How did we get here?” or “Wait, what about that other point you just made?” However, I think that’s a symptom of there being just so much to talk about regarding the broader umbrella topic that this video is trying to cover that it’s hard to know when/how to fit stuff in. You could make a whole essay about only how Arab men are depicted as aggressively misogynistic threats menacing Arab women to justify modern imperialist invasions of the Middle East by Western powers and how that ties in to the way Nintendo refuses to show Ganon having a more humanized, complex relationship with his own people. Even after a whole hour it feels like we’ve only just scratched the surface.
However, I also don’t think this “meandering” is necessarily negative because it sometimes ended up leading to great points that I hadn’t considered before. For example, I was initially confused about why the essay started focusing on Rauru and the plot of TotK after the halfway point, but it ended up not just being a useful example of how Japan reproduces Western tropes from pop cultural influences for fans who weren’t quite convinced about the essay’s arguments in the first half because they assumed Japan was in a cultural vacuum where racism doesn’t exist, but also gave me a totally new perspective about Rauru’s character beyond my initial Shintoist reading of his role as a divine ancestor that legitimized the royal family’s rule.
Rauru and Mineru’s designs and backstory borrow visual and literary tropes from depictions of indigenous peoples in American media to legitimize him as “indigenous to Hyrule” and therefore an important founding figure in its revised origin myth, but these tropes reproduced without awareness of their original cultural context also serve to “unperson” him as a character within the story. He’s sequestered into a distant past where he can’t really interact with characters in the present, not even truly “owning” the kingdom he founded, which instead passes to the Hylians, who coopted his legacy of unification for their own ends but completely forgot about him. He and his sister are treated more like “resources” for Link/the player to take advantage of to achieve their goals than characters in their own right. And, emotionally, the Zonai siblings are so distanced from the main cast and each other by being treated more like concepts of “nativeness” than people in their own right that their own descendant feels like a stranger visiting an exotic land instead of long-lost family reconnecting with her roots.
Like…it’s a really clever way to introduce two equally complex points that people should keep in mind when examining the Gerudo. First, that you can’t really treat Japan’s depictions as the exact same as Western depictions, because while Japan isn’t “the West,” it has its own complicated history with racism and imperialism born out of the “pan-Asian” nationalism of the early 20th century. At the same time, Japan doesn’t exist in a hermetically sealed cultural vacuum totally isolated from Western influences that makes Japanese creators incapable of learning about cultural nuances regarding racism, despite what fashy weebs personally invested in the myth of Japan being a magical exotic fairyland where “woke” doesn’t exist want you to believe.
I hope this video essay inspires other people to look into this topic further and maybe contribute their own works to the discussion.

Skip and Loafer Episode 7: Hectic and Hot Stuff
Tumblr media
It's been a long time since I've watched a high school SoL/RomCom that's able to pin down the nature of high school students so well. It just gets how they approach things, how they change and develop, how they remain rigid in their ways. All the awkwardness and oddity that comes from the friendships and interactions, it just gets it all and distills it into something incredibly enjoyable and relatable, like this episode.
So, there's two things that really stood out with this episode: friend groups and first person perspective. The two don't really have anything to do with one another, but they feel like the most apparent pieces through today's content, so I'll get the ball rolling with the formal.
With how animanga present these types of stories, it's incredibly easy to forget that a world of people exist outside of the scope of what we as viewers are shown explicitly. It leads to very narrow thinking, and an overall narrow and almost distant world. Thankfully, Skip and Loafer avoids that entirely with how it approaches it.
We get to see things like students from other schools confessing to Shima-kun, for example. Something as easy as a different uniform being shown really adds a lot to how we as viewers piece together the story, and understand the scale and scope of the lives of the characters that inhabit it.
Tumblr media
And then there's pieces like Takamine's journal/diary, which shows off names for characters that we've not seen. Once more, such a simple idea, but incredibly effective at increasing the scope of the content and providing a richer background to characters. All with just a pair of names.
Tumblr media
And then there's pieces that take place within the school to show that social breadth (or even sometimes, the social gap). Things like Yamada goofing off with a different pair of people while Shima-kun's out in the courtyard and Mukai's in the background being busy. Such an easy way to show the fluidity of friend groups and social cliques within the story, and that what we as viewers see as the friend group isn't the end all be all of the web of connections that the characters maintain.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Or even the awkwardness of becoming part of a friend group like Egashira experiences. Physically, she's left out as she's behind Mitsumi, while Murashige and Kurume chat with her, so it isn't until Mitsumi turns around to bring Egashira into it that she's really a part of it. Which you might think is funny, because wasn't it just the other day that Egashira was already part of the group? Well, it's rather implicit, but in its own way it's showing that it's not as easy as being in the group once to really be a part of it. Thankfully, Mitsumi's heart is made of gold and Egashira is brought into the fold before she even knows it.
Tumblr media
And now, a bit of an interlude on direction. I say first person, but it's not quite the same as that earlier episode's approach to it. We're not looking strictly from the perspective of a given character per se, but almost borrowing their eyes to view the scene. It's a hard thing to explain, but where we view the scene is different from how.
Take this example of Shima-kun and Mitsumi talking. We're given the same high angle that Shima would have in talking to Mitsumi, but from a different position in the scene.
Tumblr media
And we see a lot of it throughout this episode. Personally, I'm all for it and they use it in all the right places, like borrowing Mitsumi's eyes for an over the shoulder look at Takamine senpai. Or looking directly across to Egashira during a conversation.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It's just a really great piece that works in junction with the focus on character closeups through the episode, which you might think would be at odds with each other, but they form a nice pairing where the gazes of characters is treated with the most importance in the episode. Especially in regards to Mitsumi.
Tumblr media
And it's not like they use these closeups to be lazy or stiff with the animation. The character acting remains expressive and on point, making the closeups actually worth it from a story perspective.
Now, last but not least, the actual content of the episode. I really loved Takamine's story, and how they're approached as a high school student. Of course, there's kids out there that don't really care any about high school, but there's just as many that do, so Takamine's really suffering from having to deal with the latter on something she's so passionate about.
It's a really great piece to pursue, and I love how much of Takamine's character still exists after that bus ride with Mitsumi. They've certainly changed as a character, but their core is still preserved. They're still Takamine, who plans every waking minute of their day. But, they're slightly different. They're more positive and personable, they're more open to consolation from others, and more willing to make what's in front of them work. Personally speaking, it's such an important thing to pin down, as high school students won't change at the drop of a hat, but they also aren't perfectly rigid and static people in life.
Anyways, that malleability of Takamine's character, and subsequently the others within this story, is a core piece as to why her part is so good in this episode. Because of that flexibility, she's able to meet Kanechika halfway, after he accidentally rubbed salt in Takamine's wounds. There's not some big conversation, or crazy ideal presented by Kanechika to make her feel better, but rather he shares his embarrassment through a movie he made when he was younger, and his struggles to improve with her. It's all for Kanechika to sort of to say, "see? I've had issues as well". It's really endearing, and carries the perfect amount of awkwardness and beating around the bush that a high school student would have.
Tumblr media
Also, similarly to Takamine's strong core but flexible exterior, Egashira sees similar treatment. She still remains somewhat distance and cold to Mitsumi, and is even still seen being jealous in regards to her closeness with Shima-kun. But that doesn't stop her from being a friend to Mitsumi, to going out of her way to give her hints and information that she wouldn't have otherwise. With Takamine having a similar approach to her character, it's a really great thing to see that gets how people work.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And we finally now reach the end, with the whole whirlwind of stuff going on. Mitsumi and Shima-kun going to the zoo together, a rival appearing, and the muddy and confusing emotions that Mitsumi has for Shima-kun. It's all very well done, and I love how warm and pure Mitsumi is about being friends with Shima-kun. She certainly does doubt herself, but at the same time is incredibly happy to have him by her side. Though, that in part is what causes the drama of the "new girl" to arise, and for Egashira to take action.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Skip and Loafer can't miss, simple as it gets. Everything feels like it hits the nail on the head with just the right amount of drama and realism. All the characters are fun and involved, and feel like they exist outside of what we see, and their interactions are really well thought out and expressed. Always a treat to watch, and always sucks to remember that we're in a countdown to the final episode of the season.

Okay so sadly I did not keep up with your fic I didn't read book 3 first chapter yet as uni made me loose motivation to do almost anything (but I hope once summer semester starts it will get better for a while) BUT out of nowhere I had this DOTH themed dream??? Like Galwah and Draxum came to visit "Draxum's friend" and it was just this human guy and he had an adopted son himself (exept I think this time it was a normal adoption and not whatever the fuck Draxum did). I think they were meant to be like a pharael to Draxum and Galois??? Idk they ate dinner toghether and talked and I think Galois and Draxum stayed in for the night or something. The weird part is that it turned out these weren't your ocs but that these characters were borrowed from some anime?? And you even explained that "at first I thought I would make the jus inspired by these two but then I decided it's pointless to insert litearlly just them and then change names or small details. So I just litearlly put these anime characters in" and in my dream I remembered nodding and being like "that's such a smart writting decission. And this way it can make fans of this show find DOTH". It'e my second time in my life when I dreamed of a non existent DOTH chapter and everytime that chapters turns out to include some crossover characters for no reason. Huh.
That honestly sounds like something I'd do, lol. Maybe I'll just plop Eren Yeager in at some point.
It has been...many years since my anime phase.
I keep having dreams of fandom interactions, but they're like...completely nonsensical and pointless. Like, a few nights ago I was at a convention with two pretty well known artists, but neither of them would talk to me and just talked to each other. Also we were in a church basement at some point. Sometimes I dream online interactions and then I have to wake up and figure out what's real and what I dreamt.
Don't feel bad about not keeping up, I know my word counts are insane. I just worry about spoilers. :P

From your character ask game for the Cars movies! Zero obligations to answer, but I myself love doing these.
Im not going to send you a character. Ill ask you instead to pick two for yourself under certain criteria.
1) A character that you were inatantly drawn to on your first watch. The character that ultimately and initially became your favourite.
2) A character grew on you over time and over several reruns of the movie(s). Also please tell me why this occured. It fascinates me.
Brace yourself, theres a few!

Im so sorry I cannot remember what they were! I just wrote down the numbers. Love your blog!
Alrighty! This is gonna be fun, also I love this request- thank you so much honestly (つ≧▽≦)つ
Characters I have chosen (it's 3, I couldn't decide on the first criteria, so this is gonna be quite a long post):
For the first criteria we have Strip 'The King' Weathers and Finn McMissile
And for the second criteria we have Francesco Bernoulli.
-> When I first watched the second movie of the Cars-Trilogy I mainly focused on the whole espionage thing that was going on, and less on the World Grand Prix racing. Therefore I didn't pay much attention to the other racers individually. And at first I did not like Francesco at all. He reminded me too much of Lightning, when Lightning was a rookie and I didn't like that. Bernoulli gave me, as mentioned, similar vibes as rookie Lightning, the vibes of the whole 'being a one-man-kind of show' thing. Francesco came across as a cocky, flirtatious, over confident character with a high ego. (At least for me ಥ‿ಥ)
But after I rewatched the movie several times, I started to like him more. (Well and maybe some fanfictions had their influence as well-) I began to think more about him, about his way on and off the track, his relations and so on. I saw that, despite his seemingly high ego, he is indeed a kind soul. For example how he seems to like the fact that his mother is his 'biggest/greatest' fan, and he is open about that too. I have a feeling some other racers would be embarrassed to see their family members, especially their mother, cheering for them. But he doesn't mind it. (Alright- this turned out longer than expected-) ⊂((・▽・))⊃
NOW- let's get going with the rest of your 'Character Asks' request (つ≧▽≦)つ
I am gonna go in the following order for each number: Strip Weathers, Finn McMissile, Francesco Bernoulli
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
1) My first impression of them
-> A racer with great potential, that is also blue and works for an agency with a Dino as a logo. (≧▽≦)
-> Uiii cool looking, normal, spy guy. Actually, scratch that- a wild traumatized appeared (Pokemon reference intended)
-> Rookie Lightning McQueen but make him Italian and take away his fenders
2) When I think I truly started to like them
-> When he told off Lightning at the beginning of Cars 1. No elaboration.
-> Right at the start of Cars 2, due to the whole entire chasing scene.
-> After rerunning the movie several times, and fanfiction-
3) A Song that reminds me of them
-> 'Gossip' by Måneskin
-> 'Set it off' by Skillet
-> 'Iconic' by Simple Plan
10) Describe the character in one sentence
-> Silly country boi that loves racing and his wife (and sponsor.) ⊂(・▽・⊂)
-> Bisexual- I am sorry- British secret spy agent with trauma.
-> Italian racer that is shamelessly flirting (and in love) with McQueen
12) Sexuality hc!
-> Bisexual or Unlabeled (already mentioned in another ask)
-> Gay- Bisexual ʘ‿ʘ
-> *clap clap, finger guns* Pan. (☞ ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)☞
13) Your favorite friendship they have
-> Him and Tex/Him and Junior
-> Him and Tomber
-> Him and McQueen
16) A childhood headcanon
-> Never liked playing/interacting with other kids
-> Grew up somewhere in Germany
-> Used to steal- eh I mean borrow, Mama Bernoulli's cosmetics
18) How do you think they were as a kid?
-> Shy and reserved, didn't know how to connect with others around him
-> Bubbly and happy, always in action, until some trauma happens (Explanation in 22)
-> Outgoing and enthusiastic, loved to brag about Mama Bernoulli's delicious food (he still does that)
20) A weird headcanon
-> Had a goth/punk phase as a teen. ( ╹▽╹ )
-> Once needed to plan a wedding for a Spy-Mission, as part of a cover
-> He knows how to knit and sew. (≧▽≦) Mama taught him ( ꈍᴗꈍ)
21) When do you think they were at their happiest?
-> Whenever he is/was on the track or with Lynda/Tex, and later on whenever Cal or Junior are around, oh and when he met Doc Hudson (つ≧▽≦)つ
-> Training Academy with Leland and when he was/is with Mater/Holley and or Tomber
-> Also while racing, around his fellow racers (The other WGP racers), and of course when he is with his Mama
22) When do you think they were at their lowest?
-> When he crashed at the Tiebreaker race, and during middle school
-> After his mother's death, and later when Leland passed
-> After a harsh break up, and unlucky for him, his Mama was very ill at the same time too (she got better of course)
24) What do you think is a secret they have that they never told anyone
-> He once wanted to commit. (I'm sorry, I'm dumping so much trauma on the poor guy) Never told anyone. Not even his parents found out. Not even Lynda or Tex know, he keeps that secret to himself and he will take it with him into his grave.
-> He will never tell anyone, how exactly his mother passed, only he knows the real reason and he is gonna keep it that way
-> He used to eat flowers when he was bored, and occasionally he still does that. Of course he isn't gonna tell anyone, his Mama doesn't know either
25) When do you think they acted the most ooc?
-> When he met Doc for the first time and was alone with him. I don't know what kind of hyperfixation suddenly hit him, but he suddenly became all excited and bubbly. I mean his Idol was in front of him. (I am sorry I couldn't think of any movie scene that seemed ooc for him)
-> That one scene in Cars 2 in Japan, where he fought with some of the lemons. There is this one scene, one split second, where he was shocked to suddenly be rammed
-> Also in Japan, during the race on the dirt part of the track. We all know he lost his momentum there due to not knowing how to properly drive in dirt. That was the one moment his self-confidence/his ego took damage.
26) When do you think they were being 'themselves' the most?
-> Honestly, on the track, with Lynda and Tex, with other friends, with his nephew and so on
-> Around Leland/Tomber, and with Mater/(Holley)
-> With his fellow WGP racers, especially with Lightning
AND DONE ( ꈍᴗꈍ)
This was fun to write, took me about an hour plus and I loved it! (つ≧▽≦)つ
Thank you so much for this, it really got me into my thoughts and just- thank you! (≧▽≦)

ok im gonna finally shed my skin and come off anon. heres some headcanons/general thoughts i think duck and harry/red are sort of like grandparents to the tertiaries. they go see theatre plays and go get ice cream. the secondary girls have a little garden in their backyard or smth that they all work together on. i think they grow a lot of pretty flowers and stuff for each other :] one of the few good things they have in puppet purgatory hell since the tertiary fellas are more child-like, i feel like theyd have much more basic lessons like "learn about animals" or "the importance of listening to your parents" or something like that. speaking of which id love to see them go through some internet safety lesson or something cuz theyre totally the type to accidentally find jumpscare videos and play can your pet or smth and as a bonus: all of the bird characters canonically look good in fancy dresses i think thank u for reading if u did. i love ur art sm keep up the amazing work!!! :]
I love these so so much!!!!!!
red and duck are definitely like grandpas to the tertiaries!!. they see them like, the old grumpy people from across the street
they don't really interact much though </3, red just sees them as probably yellows friends and duck is not that fond of them.
dandy does look up to red guy perhaps the same way as he does blue and he leaves little gifts on their doorstep but is too shy to give them stuff upfront. Jay is absolutely afraid of duck. Though they would love to see theatre plays if dandy wasn't so shy and jay wasn't so scared of duck
as far as red and duck know there are only two of them. they haven't seen or talked to sal yet.
yellow does know him however and he does often """""borrow"""" stuff from their house, from yellow. he lets him borrow stuff bc he thinks he's a cool guy and he sees him like, the shy older brother he never had
Tumblr media
that gardening headcannon...... they def have a little garden in their house somewhere that they hang out in sometimes just a little bonding time tending to it. theyd even probably have an episode with it at one point with a teacher relating to it.. absolutely lovely
Tumblr media
the tertiaries have more basic lessons but their teachers are actually really good at teaching them that basic stuff so they have a good grasp on basic morals that the other trios seem to lack. due to the nature that they're actually in a kid's show. theyre also definitely prone to those jumpscare videos sal would be the one playing them while the other two watch and get really scared
and as a little tidbit cardinal also sees duck as a grandpa but like this. this is their dynamic.

Could I request a part 2 of your first kiss post with Lisa, Noelle, Thoma & Gorou?
Hi anon - thank you for being my first request on this account! Here is how they kiss you for the first time part 2!
Characters: Gorou, Lisa, Noelle, Thoma x reader (separate) Pronouns/gender of reader: no gender mentioned Word count: 980
Part 1 - Part 2
Gorou: You and Gorou would be out on a mission together that was supposed to be fairly easy. The two of you had met since you both were a part of the Watatsumi army and had been on a lot of missions together, and slowly along the way you had become closer to each other, starting to appreciate the other person even outside of work. After finishing up the mission you would just sit on a cliff together enjoying the light breeze after a hard day’s work. You sat down first, legs off the side and hands placed on the ground to each side of you. As Gorou sat down as well he accidently placed his hand on top of yours, but he quickly retracted it and said a quick apology. You had to assure him that it was fine, actually you didn't mind at all and quite liked the small touch from him. You could sense him slightly blushing before gathering up the courage to actually take a hold of your hand before looking into your eyes and saying “mind if i do this then?” and then leaning in and kissing you softly. You immediately kissed him back, and both of you could feel the other smiling into the kiss. You got the feeling that both of you had wanted this for quite a while.
Lisa: Forget about Kaeya being a flirt, have you all talked to Lisa? This woman flirts her way through almost every interaction possible. This does not mean that she would put any less meaning into actually courting you and actually showing you that she actually liked you and didn’t just meaninglessly flirt with you. You would start to notice small things that indicated she liked you like a lingering hand on your arm, or the fact that she allowed you to lend books without a due date to return them. Maybe you even got to take home some of the more rare books. You had one day come to return a book late in the evening so the Knights of Favonius headquarters were fairly empty. You found the library empty besides one person: Lisa. You went over to her desk and started talking excitedly to her about the book you had just borrowed. Lisa was leaning on her desk now so that she could more easily have a conversation with you and be at your height instead of sitting down. You had just finished talking and when you looked at Lisa she was looking at you with tired eyes and a fond smile before telling you to “come here” and gently cupping your face and pulling you into a slow and sensual kiss that you immediately melted into. The two of you probably wouldn’t leave the library for a while.
Noelle: You would probably have to initiate your first kiss with her. If you’ve played her story you know that this sweet girl does not only have literally zero experience when it comes to anything romantic, but she is also completely clueless to any romantic context clues (cue her not knowing that roses had a romantic meaning behind them - what a cutie). You would have to literally drag her away from her maid duties and knight training as she’s constantly keeping herself busy with that. When you had asked her to go on a date with you she would blush and start just rambling a slight bit to cover up how nervous she was. I imagine your first date to be very romantic, either going for dinner together or maybe setting up a picnic near Windrise. You had had a wonderful time together and as the night was coming to an end you decided to hold one of her hands while placing the other on her cheek and asking if you could kiss her. She would immediately blush but also say yes without any hesitation. The two of you would share a short-ish but very sweet kiss before walking home together hand in hand. This was just the start of many cute dates and many sweet kisses.
Thoma: THIS BOY. Best boy number one. The two of you would probably have been friends for a while, and since he was usually busy helping out at the Kamisato estate you spent almost every single moment together when he was off duty. Thoma really enjoyed spending time with you since it was one of the few times he could truly relax and not have to worry about anything. He had gotten some time off for the Irodori festival so the two of you were just walking around the market and going from stall to stall to see everything there was to offer. At some point the two of you had to push through a big crowd of people so to not get separated from each other you decided to hold hands, but even after you got through the crowd none of you let go, and if someone looked carefully they could see the faint the blush that was covering your’s and Thoma’s cheek. It wasn’t until Thoma had followed you home to your door that either of you made a move. You thanked him for a great night while still holding his hand, and this is when you both would normally have pulled away and said goodbye, but something must have been in the air that night because neither of you seemed to want to let go as you kept looking into each other's eyes. “Is it just me who wants to-?” Thoma started to ask, but before he could finish his sentence you pulled him into a passionate kiss. Luckily that seemed to be answer enough as you could feel Thoma’s hand around your waist on the other on your chin as he deepened the kiss. A happy ending to a happy day.

Let's write an episode together and talk about the TARDIS(s)!
Anyone still there? Sorry, I got a little distracted by other things. But I am still having fun with this, so I will slowly continue it. Come along if you like :D (If you’re new: we’re writing a dw episode with my options that I am giving you and your choices in the polls. When it’s done I’ll force RTD to write it properly /j )
So far, we have decided on a multidoctor episode with the teams:
9 travelling with Rose, Bill and Jack
10 travelling with Martha, Donna and Jack
13 travelling with River and Yaz
Now, the last poll decided, that our episode will mostly take place inside the TARDIS. As we are dealing with a multidoctor episode, the question is: (How) Do they end up inside the same TARDIS? I have come up with some answers.
Tumblr media
Explanations and examples can be found under the cut. Please remember while voting that no matter the scenario, the most time the camera will show the inside of one or more TARDIS-s (well, it’s all the same one anyway but you know what I mean), i.e. the console room, hallways or other rooms inside the ship.
I'll give you a little more time this round as I am expecting I might stay this slow with updates.
please reblog to gather more writers ❤
Scenario Different TARDIS-s, different plots
The distinct TARDIS teams don’t interact directly. The scenes switch back and forth, showing three distinct (but related?) stories inside the three TARDIS-s of the three teams. In different points in time and different locations. The teams don’t interact with each other except for possibly the Doctor and Jack remembering a similar situation or objects inside the TARDIS being used. Or things one Doctor and team do influencing another incarnation (think 11 ordering a fez and 13 receiving it). To the teams it has no relevance that we are seeing the scenes together but they enhance each other through subtle references.
Scenario Different TARDIS-s, same plot
All the teams stay inside their own TARDIS, at least for most of the episode, but they can communicate. Either directly, video call style, or a little more like Sally and her DVD’s with the Doctor/Jack leaving notes for past and future selves. The three teams work together to fight some impeding doom™, perhaps resulting in a celebratory party in the end outside the TARDIS-s.
Scenario Same TARDIS
For some reason two teams end up inside the TARDIS of another. I am imagining 13 purposefully tries to borrow 10’s TARDIS to do something specific (maybe she needs the round things for it or something) but miscalculates the time. Thus, contrarily to her belief, 10 and his team are already inside, taking a calm day to explore some rooms or something. And it’s not just them because right before 13 plus team arrive, 9 and his friends have made their way on board, mistaking her for their own TARDIS. The TARDIS, ever helpful, provided them their rooms, too, at the usual place. So, everyone’s inside the ship somewhere, none the wiser, when 13 and Yaz and River are starting the engine. Everyone comes to see who is abducting ‘their’ ship and find those strange women. Half of the episode is probably consecrated to the Doctor’s bickering about whose ship this is and who gets to fly her and the other half to actually pulling themselves together and solving the issue 13 was concerned with together.
Scenario Merged TARDIS – Doors
An error occurs and suddenly, while believing to have landed somewhere else, one team opens their door to leave the ship and finds itself entering the console room of another team, through the TARDIS door again. When they try to leave and go back, they end up inside the third team’s console room. Only at the third try they get back, but no matter where they try to fly to, the doors stay merged together. The outside of one TARDIS has become the inside of another (a tiny bit like in ‘time’ and ‘space’). The main issue of this episode is to figure out how to detach the TARDIS’s again and which Doctor belongs into which TARDIS and which Jack to which Doctor before the split happens and they’re all separated again.
Scenario Merged TARDIS – Interior
The TARDIS incites the teams to venture further into her depths until they reach the inside of another TARDIS incarnation. She has merged her insides together, producing a way of easily moving from one timeline to the other (although you have to run quite a long way, I suppose, I’m sure Donna and 10 will provide some segways to help out eventually). This helps with fighting several issues outside two or three of the TARDIS-s. This episode will feature a lot of running through TARDIS hallways, getting lost, searching for items that only exist earlier or later in time and loads of chaos and shouting to get a grip on the issues happening outside. Also probably someone getting locked inside a room on accident or one of the console rooms being no longer safe to enter.
Scenario Merged TARDIS – Russian Doll
One TARDIS is having steering/stabilising problems. To solve them, she lands inside the safest place: Herself. But not herself right now, but a former/later console room. When that TARDIS, disturbed from the impact of having herself inside, tries to land, the same thing happens. The Doctors storm out, managing to prevent the third TARDIS from landing and repeating the process, but now we have a TARDIS inside a TARDIS inside a TARDIS that can’t land. And the inner ones are too ruffled to start flying as well. The main issue is to resolve the connection and get all the TARDIS-s to be normal again.
(possible extra option with this one: one or several of the TARDIS-s get shrunk in the process together with the travellers. Picture mini-13 climbing over the console and leather jacket up to 9's ear to yell at him to notice them and help them out for Gallifrey's sake! (also tiny Jack hitting on giant Jack and vice versa) If people like this extra option, regardless of which option wins, I'll see if we can include it there, too)
Scenario Merged/One TARDIS – Echoes
We are following the storyline of only one of the teams but the TARDIS is supplying memories/echoes of former/later companions and Doctors to help with the plot. A little like River in ‘Name of the Doctor’ or 13 and the fugitive Doctor in ‘Once upon time’. Some possession, some ghostlike figures and images in mirrors and tapestries, some people suddenly being displaced in time and disappearing again. The echoes are interacting with the main TARDIS team but it is clear they are not completely there. When that particular adventure is lived, the TARDIS stops producing the echoes or is repaired so she doesn’t have to anymore.
Scenario The Master’s TARDIS
We are not inside the Doctor’s TARDIS at all but some incarnation of the Master has abducted/lured all the three teams into their own TARDIS where they have to work together to survive whatever the Master can throw at them in their own realm. Also possible with several incarnations of the Master working together.
Scenario Trenzalore
What it says on the tin. The three teams end up on Trenzalore inside the giant TARDIS that is the Doctor's grave. This one is angsty, friends ❤
In any case, feel free to leave your own ideas for scenarios in the tags. If I like them enough, I might to a redraw between your ideas and the most popular ones here :)

Alright, I’ll go double here. E, H, R, and W for the fanfic writer ask.
All right, about time I answer this {cracks knuckles}
E. What character do you identify with most? Is there a certain fic of yours that captures these qualities particularly well?
Well, I guess I could easily answer Della, but I can also see a good case for Fenton, Gandra, and Dewey. Both Fenton and Gandra are characters around my age so it makes me very easy to relate to them in their struggles to get recognized for their own work and to have the world see them for who they are. Also I'm mixed race and I kinda headcanon both Fenton and Gandra as mixed race. (I mean come on, Crackshell is such a white name. You know, cause eggshells are white. sometimes.). As for Dewey, a lot of his characteristics remind me who I was as a kid and bit of who I am now. Also I'm a middle child so that's another thing we have in common.
But back to Della, I think like most Della fans I love the fact that Della isn't perfect but that's why we love rooting for her and seeing her succeed in the end
Like her brother, she has bad luck but it's a bit different from his. It can affect others around her often unintentionally. Some times Della can cross a line without even realizing it, even if her intentions are good
She has a lot of pride in herself and in the people she loves. She's so damn supportive of her family and is always amazed with their own talents and abilities that they have. Della is just one of those characters that sees the awesomeness in herself and others
I guess a story of mine that I found myself identifying with Della the most would be The Three Caballeros (and Della)!, a pre-canon story where both Della and Donald are young adults who steal borrow their uncle's plane while he and Duckworth are gone for the week so that they along with José and Panchito can have awesome Spring Break in Mexico. Even though this story so far only has one chapter for it, I have a feeling that I'm going to mainly relate to Della in this story
Both Della and Donald are at a point in their lives where things are changing for them. They each have a path they want to take and hoping the other will go along with them. Della is contempt with the adventure life she has with her uncle and brother and wants to keep that going; while Donald is trying to break away from that life and create something for himself
I think both Della's and Donald's wants are both sympathetic (at least that's why I'm trying to convey) and the two do have an understanding of one another but don't fully get it. Both Della and Donald are not ready to have that conversation about their future out of fear hurting the other. They both want each other to have what they want, but they also don't want to compromise what they want their own future to be
I grew up with a lot of siblings and saying goodbye to people who are not only family but in a way, close friends is something I always found difficult to do
Also Della makes the best puns in the show so I always make sure to give her the best puns in my stories. Also she's bisexual cause I'm bi and I say so.
H. How would you describe your writing style?
A friend from work once told me that my sense of humor was like someone's little brother who just discovered the internet, and honestly if I showed her my fanfics I'm sure her opinion on my sense of humor wouldn't change.
Overall my writing does lean towards the comedic side sorta playing off whatever character the story is focused on. To me the characters are always the most important part of the story. I noticed that a lot of my stories focused on the character's traits, their relationship with others, and how they're similar and different towards the characters they interact with in their stories. I absolutely love drawing parallels between characters, I often do that with actions, repeated dialogue, etc. I guess another common thing in my writing is back-and-forth dialogue, it's often used to push the story forward whether it be about the characters at hand or the plot itself.
I try to make my descriptions in my stories fun and exciting. I'm guilty of throwing in puns and alliteration in there, occasionally unintentionally, when that happens I usually keep it because I'm a sucker for puns and alliteration.
And while things in my stories can occasionally go to a dark place whether it be humorous or serious, I don't look at my works as mean-spirited or cynical; in the end our heroes grow and the bad guys get their much deserved comeuppance.
R. Which writers (fanfic or otherwise) do you consider the biggest influence on you and your writing?
In terms of fanfic, I'd say Korkorali and tsundereanubis and their fanfic Closets and Moons, and How They're Alike is what motivated to start writing. I love their work and I still think it's really cool that tsundereanubis beta reads my stuff and always gives me good feedback
And even though I have not read those books in ages, I would say Lemony Snicket and his A Series of Unfortunate Events books had a big effect on me. Along with the stories and the characters, I always looked forward to his narration for the story. His voice was very dry and really really funny. Heck I remember reading one of those books late at night and the scene I was reading was Klaus reading late at night, exhausted. Mr. Snicket thought it would be funny to repeat the same lines over and over again when he wanted to make it clear to the reader that Klaus was so tired he found himself reading the same lines over and over again. And it was funny! I too was tired but thata did not stop me from giggling
An author who recently got their influence on me is the late and great Sir Terry Pratchett, the author of the Discworld series. I started reading him back when the pandemic started and instantly fell in love with his writing style and humor. Just the way he can describe his world, the characters, they way they speak, act, etc is both very descriptive and very funny. I'm slowly making my through the series and have loved every book by him so far, he's someone I wish I got into sooner
Lastly, I would say Mel Brooks and his movies had a big influence on me. Now it could be answering this because I recently finished his autobiography All About Me! (which I highly recommend reading if you're a fan of his works) but I've been a fan of him since I was in grade school and my mom and dad rented Spaceballs from BlockBuster for me cause a few classmates told me about knowing I was a Star Wars fan. (Side note: something I noticed is that people my age's first Mel Brooks movie they've watched is either Spaceballs or Robin Hood: Men in Tights, just thought that was worth brining up)
Anyway, I love Mel Brooks movies. Besides their humor, his movies are often great stories on their own filled with memorable characters, beautiful music, fun musical numbers, and a lot of heart. Something I think that gets ignored when people talk about his movies is the heart they have (it's always "WoW pEoPlE tOdAy ArE sO sEnSiTiVe! YoU cOuLd NeVeR mAkE a MoViE lIkE tHiS!!). Sure Blazing Saddles is parodying the Western genre, but it's also a brilliant satire attacking racism with some touching moments. The scene where Bart reunites with his brother always tugs at my heartstrings. Or even if you think about Spaceballs. The whole movie is a Star Wars parodying poking fun of different sci-fi movies and tropes let the love story between Lone Star Princess Vespa is probably the only element that is played straight albeit with some jokes getting in the mix
W. What is your favorite pairing to write? Favorite pairing to read?
I guess currently my answer would be Fendra, which I never would have guessed when I started writing. After I was done writing Ground Control to Della Duck! (as well as Legalize It! but that legit took me less than a day to write and was posted the same time as the other story) I wanted the next story in Indi-Quack! to not feature any of the McDucks or Ducks so I went with the story idea I had where Fenton accidentally gets high because of Gandra. And I was quick to realize that I really loved writing for Fenton and Gandra, both as a couple and as individuals
They both just compliment each other really well. I just love how bubbly and optimistic Fenton is while Gandra is more dry and cynical. But most importantly, they're really supportive of each other's works and see the potential the other has better than everyone else. I just love having them work together whether it be something science related or adventure related. They also have qualities that can make them be the "sane one" when it comes to comedic situations so I like alternating between the two on who is less crazy than the other. I also love implying that Gandra tops Fenton because hell yeah she does!
But I would be lying if I said I don't love showing my love for Weblena whenever I have the chance. I've only written one story that is a Weblena story, but in every story that features the two there is always some sorta of dialogue between the two that is 100% meant to be taken as "Yeah, these two are SOOOOO in love with one another." (My personal favorite is when Webby referred to Lena as "My Beautiful Goddess" when Lena was dressed up as Selene for Dewey and Webby's Spear of Selene movie). I do plan on writing a Weblena story for Indi-Quack!, it'll be the next story in that series so hopefully we'll see more of this wonderful couple in more of my stories
As for reading, I will just say Della and her two moon buddies. I love reading Dellene and Dellumbra stories. I just wanna see the duck be happy, and both Selene and Penumbra are great for Della. You know what, she deserves to end up with both. They'd make a lovely throuple
Currently I am working on a WIP that'll have Della with her two moon buddies, but they're not the main focus of the story. One story I have on the backburner is about Della going back on the dating scene and it'll go over the many ships I've seen Della shipped with, but its been awhile since I last touched it, but I haven't forgotten about it. So yeah, maybe someday I will actually be able to tell a story about the couple I like. Of course Legalize It! was a Dellene a story, but that was super short and the whole thing was leading to one punchline

First Person Games Investigation
Simply put, a first-person game is a game where you see through the eyes of your player character. Let's look at some.
Call of Duty/Battlefield - I'm putting these together because, in my eyes, they're basically the same game. A prototypical modern military shooter franchise with limited innovative mechanics, usually moving towards a multiplayer service model as it's easier to squeeze money out of users that way. I'm not sure exactly what I could say that I'd take from these games, since any mechanics you can really call "innovative" were just holdovers from Halo - two-weapon limits, grenade buttons, aim-down-sights, et cetera.
F.E.A.R. - Now this is a shooter. I don't know how many people actually still play this 2005 gem, but I do know that people used it to benchmark their systems before Crysis came out. It's a tactical action horror, where you dive around in bullet-time, gunning down screaming clone soldiers with anything from dual pistols to an experimental particle gun. The effects are amazing, and the Replica AI holds up to this day. They talk amongst each other, giving audio callouts to relay your position. They can take cover and sneak around, meaning that using your bullet time your best chance for survival. The first person viewpoint shows your fully-rendered body in all its glory, and the devs at Monolith put this to good use, having you drop-kick Replicas at point blank range. It's a lot of fun to play, like an interactive version of Woo's Hard Boiled.
FNAF - Modern horror wouldn't be where it is today without FNAF, but similarly, FNAF wouldn't work without a first-person perspective. A lot of horror - especially jumpscare-based like FNAF - requires you to see the scares as they stumble towards you. The subgenre that FNAF spawned, mascot horror, relies on twisting narratives and recognisable characters to stand out, and borrowing ideas from the archaic pre-FNAF days of Unity walking simulators, they're all first person - often having no real protagonist, as mascot horror is propped up by its recognisable characters, and having a voiced protagonist would likely take away from the antagonist's appeal.
The Stanley Parable - I definitetely want to talk about a good old fashioned narrative-based walking simulator. I usually don't like to play them, the 4th-wall-breaking trick has been done to death, and most walking simulators fall into the niche of "Annoying a British narrator until he forcibly closes the game", and then it's revealed the game is all about the struggles of a developer, and it's actually very intellectual on a super-post-meta-ironic-level, or whatever. But, the Stanley Parable is a classic. Considering it asks questions about choice and freedom in video games, a silent first-person protagonist was a good choice. I don't think we even see Stanley's face - in fact, in the original Source version, Stanley was played by Half Life 2's very own male_07 - which lets us insert ourselves into Stanley's position. First person is always an amazing choice for immersion and player/world interactivity, and considering that's often what I look for in games, it's no wonder I like this viewpoint so much.
Superliminal - Now here's a game that uses its first-person perspective to its advantage. You can take objects and move them closer or further away from you to change their size, just like the Portal 2 concept of "F-stop". This is used in puzzles where you must bridge gaps, if I recall correctly, and there is a lot of trickery within the game space itself, with some Truman Show-esque fake scenery towards the end.

Unfollowing ppl complaining about ‘pede as self-care.
Is it better than the ‘98 anime? Production-wise yes, Tri had its own charm but it was also a 90’s anime and has the errors and cost-cutting to show for it. It’s also completely divergent from the manga bc it was still serialized as episodes were coming out— it’s basically apples and oranges to compare (haha).
Do I think it’s better than the manga? Not really. Again, the stories are diverging— Stamp is borrowing more from Maximum proper and has the full context to mold as it sees fit. Yeah the pacing is breakneck compared to the manga but idk I think it’s fun, it’s different. I was getting a little hesitant during ep 6 as many others were but by the end I was into it. A chaotic situation where two lives are in the balance? And *Wolfwood* is the one who has to make the tough choices of stubbornly keeping them both alive? That’s interesting! I wanna see how that goes! Make him even more of a parallel to Vash, why not? It’s also not even halfway through the season yet and I still have no fucking idea if it’s one cour or two so who knows how it’ll all shake out. I’ll reserve my final judgements for when the full thing’s out and done, but it’s not replacing or detracting from Max in any stretch.
Do I think the manga had its own pacing issues? Hell yeah. Backstories get rewritten and details tweaked as it goes on, the EOM was a very late addition that didn’t get much time to be expanded on, nor it’s connections to other characters beyond direct A—B influence. The fight with Legato in general felt simultaneously drawn out and too short. I’d like to know a bit more about Domina and Chronica, kinda a big deal to know there are even more independents and not really considered as a new perspective to the conflict between the twins. The ending is incomplete on an emotional level. Why did we not get Vash’s reaction to the tree?? Nightow could have gutted me harder with an apple than he did with confetti and I can only presume he didn’t have the pages left to do so. But I still love it. It’s one of my favorites now, I shed tears and laughed and connected to it and a lot of cool people through reading it last year. It made me remember how much I love writing. I’d never not recommend it to someone just because *I* didn’t gel with the ending after sitting with it for a bit. Sum greater than the parts and all that.
To continue the first analogy: Stamp and Max are more like an orange and a tart. Both contain the essence of something but convey it and interact with you in very different ways— as is the nature of differing mediums. An adaptation will never be 1:1 with the source material because there’s specific things you can only do or convey through each one and tweaks must be made. How the gutters are placed and arranged on a comic page cannot be perfectly translated to a camera pan. I’ve wiped my hands of expecting “perfect” adaptations anymore, I just want the new thing to recapture and expand on the essence of what I liked about the original.
Stampede is fine so far. I like the music. I like the animation. I like the extra bits of character interaction and flavor we didn’t get from the other two. It feels *enough* like Trigun, and that’s good enough for me.
But this is all just my subjective taste. If stamp doesn’t gel for you, it doesn’t gel. I’m just jaded from a very loud minority that shit all over it the moment the trailers dropped bc it wasn’t the ‘98 Nostalgia Goggles version of Trigun they remembered half-watching on tv a decade ago and poisoning the well. There are valid things to critique, I personally just want to crawl back up into my hermit shell with the episodes playing on loop and daydreaming about having that new statue.
There’s three flavors of Trigun to choose from now. Pick the ones you like and have fun.

Late Chrysanthemums
Tumblr media
One aspect of Late Chrysanthemums that I noticed were some of the Ozu-esque shots within homes, where the cut would begin in an empty room, and remain there as characters moved in and out of the space while interacting with each other. These scenes, most notably in Okin’s house, were reminiscent of similar shots in Tokyo Story that Ozu is particularly famous for. However, they did not last nearly as long, or linger for as long, as Ozu’s shots did.
This movie surprised me in its apparent lack of plot. Most of this movie is just our main characters talking to each other and gossiping around the town. Everything we learn about our characters comes through dialogue and the way they interact with each other. All of the women, Okin, Tamae, Otomi, and Nobu are ex-geishas that know each other from the geisha house they all used to work at. Through the ways they talk about their past together, and current present, we get an idea for how the relationships between them all have changed. Okin has become a moneylender that all of the other women borrow from now, and Okin seems to not care how poorly she treats those around her. The theme of money is clearly a prominent one, and the only one who doesn’t struggle with it, Okin, is not a good person because of it. In her storyline, she looks forward to meeting her old love interest, Tabe, in the hopes of reigniting a relationship. However, it ends up being that he is interested in borrowing a large amount of money from her. Even meetings that she would rather not happen, like when her ex-husband Seki, who tried to murder her, shows up, he too is trying to borrow money from her. All of her interactions with people largely revolve around her job as a debt collector, and in this way, she also links the characters together. And while characters like Otomi says that money is everything, it seems to only bring a life of loneliness and contempt for Okin. It has turned her into a cruel person and because of that, people only come to her when they need money. She has given a home and a job for this deaf girl, which she might not have without Okin, but they never really connect, both because of the clear obstacle to communication, but also because of Okin’s refusal to attempt to communicate on a deeper level with her. All of her communications with the deaf girl are things that she wants her to do around the house, never anything meaningful. The burning of Tabe’s photograph is very poignant, as she lets go of seemingly the last hope she had of finding love and human connection, and accepting the fact that she will never find what it is she truly desires. This is reinforced when the movie closes with Okin and her business partner trying to catch a train, seemingly on another business venture, her life completely given now to her job as a moneylender.
Tamae and Otobi obviously interact and struggle with Okin, especially Otomi, claiming to have unpaid debts from Okin from back in the day, and also claiming to have helped her when she was struggling as a geisha. However, the two have their own intricate plots with their children. Otomi’s daughter is to be married to an older man, and Tamae’s son sees a mistress to try and provide for them more. Tamae is a widow and Otomi a gambling addict. They women all talk about each other potentially finding a new husband, but they all brush it off as an impossibility for them now. They reflect on the past, and their lost youth, as is exemplified at the end of the movie when Tamae and Otomi see a young woman doing a “Marilyn Monroe walk”, and, for a moment, return to their lost youth in the presence of the youth of today. Money struggles, family issues, and personal problems are the reality for these women whose ideal youths were possibly never granted to them, having spent it as geishas. Their problems with their children are also present in this desire to return to youth, as they are disappointed when their children don’t spend their youth how they wish they could.

Heehee did the fun little ship meme for my main self ship
Had to edit the original since it was for ships that only involve two people (and also to change the bug killing one to bug releasing) and included a transparent version of the edited base for those that may want it!
Ignore the awful grey outline that he preview has, the actual full resolution template doesn't have it idk what tumblr's doing
I'm gonna include a little explanation for everything under a read more for anyone that might be interested! (It's incredibly long so no worries if it's too much for y'all to want to read lmao)
Please do not interact with this post/my blog if you: - Are a minor - Are a proshipper - Self ship romantically with Shou, Hizashi and Nem
Tumblr media
General
Genders: I haven't really thought too hard about my headcanon genders for Shou, Hizashi and Nem so I just went with the canon for them. Crash is Canonically Agender.
Sexualities: I'm bisexual so I like to headcanon all of my favs as bi too 🥰
Heights: Pretty straight-forward I think, I like to make most of my S/I's the same height as me and Crash was no exception (why is everyone taller than me fuck my LIFE !!!!!!!!)
Ages: Same as heights, used everyone's up to date canon ages

Sliding Scale Section
Big Spoon - Little Spoon: I feel like Shou and me would share the same sentiment of not really minding either way/switching between the two while Nem is similar but leans more towards being the little spoon and Hizashi is Very Much the little spoon because he's the tallest of the group and I think that'd be funny/cute Lends Clothes - Borrows Clothes: I don't think any of us would necessarily borrow clothes from each other (also Crash is fat and short so I don't think its clothes would fit anyone LMAO) so I just kept everyone in the middle for this one Doesn't Use Pet Names - Uses Pet Names: Uses Pet Names: Bro you KNOW Nem and Hizashi fucking love pet names!! Crash likes pet names but feels like they sound super awkward when it says them but it'll still try. I don't think Shou would never use pet names but is probably a bit more conservative with using them himself. Introverted - Extroverted: Pretty self explanatory if you know the characters, me and Shou being very much introverted while Nem and Hizashi are on the other end of the spectrum being very much extroverted Affection Through Words - Affection Through Actions: Shou and Hizashi have both exhibited actions that lead me to believe they'd canonically show affection with both words and actions. Nem I imagine would be the same way just because I'm being self indulgent lmao. I'm the same way IRL so Crash gets to be too <;3 Confesses First - Waits For Confession: While all four were pining for each other Crash, Hizashi and Shou were the ones that were completely obvlious of everyone else's pining leaving Nem to be the one to finally initiate the relationship (sorry nem lmao) Screams About The Bugs - Releases Bug Outside: Hizashi is canonically entomophobic (afraid of bugs) meanwhile I imagine Shou, Crash and Nem wouldn't be as much. Drives The Car - Can't Drive: We've seen Hizashi drive in canon and while we've seen Shou in cars multiple times he's never once driving (I don't think??) so I like to imagine he doesn't know how/feels like it's not terribly important due to having a good amount of mobility on his own. Crash likes to walk to places it can but learned how to drive for the times when it's gotta go somewhere that isn't walkable/if it's not feeling the idea of walking. Nemuri strikes me as someone that would rather drive than walk somewhere and learned to drive to necessitate that. Can't Cook For Shit - Makes Dinner: We see Shou eating protein jelly packs more than anything else and while that's not indicative of him not being able to cook (he's just being ~rational~) I feel like he's someone that has the barest ability to cook. Crash is the same way fuck cooking lmao. Nem and Hizashi both seem like they'd know how to cook and would be willing to be the one(s) to cook for the group to me personally Dislikes PDA - Loves PDA: Similar to pet names I feel like Hizashi and Nem would absolutely love PDA and Crash would as well but feel a bit awkward about it so it'd struggle a bit to initiate it itself. Shou I feel like wouldn't completely hate it but would definitely not be the one to initiate it first typically. Overprotective - Chill Going: With the nature of the canon universe and just taking everyone's personalities into consideration I feel like we'd all be a bit protective of each other in various ways Has More Relationship Experience - Has NO Relationship Experience: This is heavily headcanon-based but I personally imagine Shou and Hizashi as not really having relationship experience due to mutually pining for each other (and Crash and Nem) and am including Crash in that same boat. Nem for sure strikes me as someone who has a lot of relationship experience though, personally

Levels
Horny Level: Nemuri is self explanatory I feel like LMAO. Crash and Shou I feel would be a little bit lower on the scale and Hizashi just a teensy bit higher. He gives off horny energy I don't know how to explain it
Awkardness Level: Crash and Shou are slightly different types of awkward but still awkward nonetheless (Crash being a bit moreso, feels bad) and Hizashi and Nemuri have never felt awkwardness in their entire lives in my opinion
Jealousy Level: I put everyone at the same halfway level because I can imagine a bit of jealousy happening here and there but I don't really think it'd be present terribly often tbh
Blessing your family and crops if you actually read all this lmao

There is so much I could say about The Last of Us, but I spare you my nerdy rant about each episode and just stay really specific.
This last week's episode was my favorite and favorite story I've seen so far in the games. I finished The Last of Us part one when I said I probably would, but then I quickly discovered more to that story. I saw a tweet about upcoming episodes and realized that there would be an episode covering separate DLC for the game called Left Behind. I started scrambling to find a way to play it. Eventually, I was able to borrow my brother's PS4, and he told me to keep it for as long as I wanted to play games I had never had the chance to play.
I squeezed Left Behind into my crazy week last week. There wasn't a single night when I went to bed before midnight. School, house chores, prepping for Hawaii. It was miserable. The Last of Us has gotten me through each week, primarily through the winter months. I wasn't about to miss out on this episode if I could help it. I'd rather be sleep deprived and miserable than have to wait to play it or watch the show until after Hawaii.
I remember watching the trailer and game play for The Last of Us Part two and getting really emotional because it revealed that Ellie is gay. Here was this epic franchise revealing that the most important character is gay. That kind of move from such a successful franchise had never existed before. I couldn't believe it. If ever there was a time I had wanted to play the games, it was that time in 2018. Still, the games only existed for Playstation and I had no way to do play them back then.
I was unsure if they would address Ellie's sexuality in the Left Behind story, though it seemed promising. Ellie just going on an adventure with her Best Gal pal?

Right.
Playing through a story of a fourteen-year-old girl going on this adventure brought to her by her best friend was a bit emotional as I could pick up on all the subtleties along the way. This gameplay was more focused on engaging in the narrative rather than fighting for your life. It alternates between her adventure with Riley and her present story of trying to keep Joel safe and alive after a terrible accident that transpires. There was little background in the game for how they got through this, so they filled in the gaps. That's where they let players fight for their lives. If you play the game or watch the show, you already know what happens on this adventure with Riley. To an extent. I couldn't unknow what I knew, which took a toll on me the more I engaged in the mini-adventures. The more background and context I gained, the harder it got. Some snaps exist of me trying not to cry while watching them interact. I knew this was a date. They were both just too afraid to address it. When watching the show, I cry laughed at all of the subtleties that Bella Ramsey, who plays Ellie, just nailed along the way. The fact that she could nail it so well makes me have questions for Bella. Maybe she's really just a wonderful actress. There were two moments stood out to me in the show that were perfect. The Adventure is that Riley takes Ellie to an old abandoned mall to show her 5 wonders of the mall. One of the wonders is a carousel. Ellie and Riley ride it together, and, in the show, they show Ellie just looking at Riley, almost in awe of her. And Bella's look on her face just destroyed me because I know that face. She was taking it all in and burning that memory into her brain. That's the moment I see this is more than a crush for little 14-year-old Ellie. She loves Riley.
The next moment that stands out to me is after Riley plays Mortal Combat with Ellie in the arcade. Once Ellie beats her, they turn into each other laughing and beaming, and I'm like, JUST FUCKING KISS ALREADY PLEEASSSSEEE but of course, Riley has more to show Ellie and has them move on to the next thing. The moment when Riley walks past Ellie, and Ellie doesn't move. It is chefs kiss, such a good moment. Ellie doesn't move from that spot. She just stands there, heart in her throat, completely head over heels and a little disappointed. Not disappointed with Riley for moving on to the next thing, but in herself for not just kissing her. Disappointed in herself for being scared. It made me laugh cry. I'm laughing because I get it, but now I'm crying because I get it. They absolutely nailed it.
Then there is the final moment of Ellie asking Rikey not to leave:
Don't go.
And Riley says okay. Then Ellie finds the courage and finally kisses Riley.
"I'm sorry." Ellie says almost panicked just in case it was a mistake.
Riley smiles and says, "For what?"
The smile that hijacks Ellie's face 😭😭😭
I sobbed in the game.
To my surprise, I laugh cried while watching the show because it is such an emotional moment but they made Ellie more awkward in the show so after that interaction, Ellie just laughs, makes a goofy face, drops her bag, looks around, down at her feet, and says, "What do we do now?"
And then Riley over here be making me sob because she says, "We'll figure it out."
It was such a beautiful episode and they did such a good job. I'd never felt more seen and represented in the television world. So, if I wasn't obsessed before, I am now.
Love me some gal pals.
