OKAY SO

(Should I put this under a cut? ... NAH. I'll put the other half under the cut)

Going with the supplied dialogue:

Going with a protective view first. The second half will have the character vs listener betrayal aspect.

I'm going to go with the people who this wouldn't apply to.

Sam and Darlin. Sam isn't exactly the betrayal type (Keep in mind, I sadly missed the Bright Eyes arc, so I didn't get to see toxic Sam moments.) and Darlin is not afraid of getting their hands dirty. They prefer doing things themselves, and they don't like getting other people involved. Especially if they care about said people. Now would they gladly be the person that someone sent to get revenge? Probably. They wanted to hunt down Quinn because they harmed their friend. (Honorable mentions to Sam beating the shit out of Quinn for his progeny and such)

The DAMN squad. Maybe this is my own bias coming out, but they all seem pretty logical versus emotion run. I mean, look at the Kody situation. Freelancer literally wanted the least contact involved way of dealing with Kody (they really should have avoided him so they could avoid the trauma of victim-blaming but whatever.) Huxley wanted Freelancer to talk to someone. And he was willing to beat up Kody himself. Same with Damien. Lasko wanted to distance FL and Kody as much as he could, asking about their schedule, ect. FL also stopped Gavin from going to Kody by not sharing the address (I would LOVE and LIVE to see how Gavin would have reacted to hearing that Kody was a bitch to the squad throughout different stages in the E&E Games and the Inversion. Let him go feral like Damien did.) Freelancer is probably the one that keeps everyone from going to jail or the deans office in some kind of way. (Thinking about it now, Gavin/Damien would be the most likely to go behind Freelancer's back to get a physical toll of revenge for them. So maybe they could apply.)

Aaron and Smartass: Follow the law. Murder is kinda against the law in case you didn't realize. This applies to the contemporary boyos. We haven't really seen their listeners face any major threat yet, so we don't have much evidence of how far these boys would go for their loves.

Anton and his Lover: Anton is wholesome.

Morgan and his listener: Self explanatory?

Cam and any of his listeners - While Cam wants to protect people, to the point he erases the memories of his own therapist... murder? Nuh uh.

Moving on to the more likely group but there's still some doubt:

Vincent and Lovely. Vincent killed Adam for harming Lovely. He killed Lovely (technically) to save them. He's not afraid to get his hands dirty. But Lovely is also very tough. They zapped the fuck out of Adam, that it broke his concentration of the wards he was using to protect himself from Vincent. That would probably be the forefront of his focus. Like I present to you this: Stranger who harmed Lovely: I'm fully aware they're trying to kill me. I'd like to see them try. Lovely's friend (Sam maybe...?): You really thought they'd do it themselves? They're not the type to get their hands dirty and you know it. (Here's where the doubt is here. Lovely can handle themselves.) Stranger: They're sending someone? Sam: They sent someone. Stranger: Who? Sam: Who do you think? Next thing that stranger knows their face is pressed to dirty brick of an alley, the texture of the bricks creating micro-tears in their cheek as a voice leans close to their ear. "You messed the fuck up. And now you'll pay for it. Slowly. Painfully. Your screams won't save you but feel free to try." I mean seriously... Vincent CANONICALLY killed for Lovely.

David and Angel: The doubt is here from David's strict moral code. He's not really the type to hurt people. But he's also extremely protective. And Angel is unempowered, so if they're facing a threat that's empowered? You bet your ass he will protect them. Really this could apply to any the wolf boys. Sweetheart tends to handle their own shit though.

Elliot and Sunshine: Is it possible? Yes. But it wouldn't be the first means he goes to. He literally connected with his brother after the department wasn't going to work, instead of just buying a gun.

Avior and Starlight: Avior just gives off protective vibes. I can't really explain it beyond that. He hates it when Starlight is in danger or puts themselves in danger. So yeah. I could see him being sent to save them or sending someone else to discard a threat.

And finally, those who this definitely applies to:

Vega and Warden - Do you really need an explanation for this?

Blake and Bestie - Once again, kinda self explanatory I think.

Brachium and Sunshine - Yall, did you hear him when Blake was threatening Sunshine? His lovers death will feel like a mercy. That line had me shivering.

Regulus and his listener - He literally edited memories to be with them. Killing someone isn't that much of a further stretch.

Hush and Doc - More self explanatory. Doc needs to be there to help though.

James and his spouse - James made comments that he's pretty morally gray, so the fact he was disgusted by the low morals of Marcus was "saying something". With loose morals, comes more opportunities for what lengths he's willing to go to for whatever reasons.

Vega-influenced Ivan and Baby - Loose morals once again.

There's the protective perspective. But we're here for the betrayal. I'm just going to go with those who this WOULD apply to:

Vega and Warden. I know I said that he would kill to protect them... but if they really dedicated themselves to putting him behind bars? What's more manipulative than making it seem like an "accident" happened to his dear Warden by an outside party? Honestly, he's so distraught that he wasn't there to help them to protect themselves so they had to use all their magic against this threat. But don't worry Darling, he'll make sure your sacrifice wasn't in vain.

James. Not to his spouse... but he just gives off those vibes that he will do whatever necessary. But he's also pristine. So he'll send someone to deal with the messy bits while he's the mastermind behind it all.

Hush and Doc. Their relationship isn't really solidified yet, so there's really nothing much to stop him from harming them. Did he express a desire of not wanting to? Sure. But while they were attempting to save him, he was willing to risk their life because he "wanted" to kill Reticuli. So it's not that much of a stretch to say he would kill Doc. But since he has that slight detachment to Elegy, that he needs a proxy to cause harm. So yeah. He would have no issue in using someone else to harm Doc.

Regulus and his listener. Have you heard that audio edit? The one that goes "If I can't have you... *stab sound* no one can." I don't know the extent of his effect on physicality completely, like sure he's a Fallen Empathy Daemon and Caelum can make a mess of FL's kitchen, so clearly they can effect reality. But it's also been made clear that Caelum and Freelancer are an extremely rare case. So maybe that's specific to Caelum and Freelancer as well. But we know Regulus can get deep into people's heads, so I could see him sending someone to harm his listener if a situation where it was necessary presented itself and no other tactics were working.

Those are the most accurate.

But Messy! Who would you want to see, even if there wasn't much logic to support it?

Omg.

Ignoring Echo's whole thing about calling us out on wanting to see David hurting Angel (We already have seen how David reacts when he feels betrayed. He get moody and distant. I don't see him hurting them.)

I want to see Vincent and Lovely. We already got a glimpse of it with the imperium. And the imperium is when decisions are made differently. So there's that small possibility of Vincent hurting Lovely if things were different. Plus the fact he also is likely with the protective route of that dialogue? MMMM the flavors are melting on my tongue! MMM this really hits the spot.

Sam and Darlin. They're so fluffy with each other. They were a slowburn. I want it break. i want to watch it slowly shatter until the trust is broken and then they just feel stuck in a bitter situation with each other. I want to see them miserable.

The DAMN squad. Platonic-wise... friendship groups falling apart is something I eat up. We saw a bit of it during the aftershock since everyone was kind of drifting apart from each other as they all tried to cope with what happened and with the survivors guilt. I loved that, angst wise. I want to watch it break apart.

So I can’t get this one post out of my head and wanted to hear how Kendall and Carlos’s parts would line up in the first verse, and I thought both versions sound really interesting when played together, so here’s a thing I did. BTR’s Just Getting Started with the demo version on the left ear, and the album version on the right ear. Stereo headphones or earphones 100% obligatory because this would most likely sound like a deep-fried mess without them. But other than that, I hope this sounds okay!!

Deconstructing Baseless Harry Potter Arguments#2 (i) : Harmione Edition

Obviously I once again do not mean to target all Harmione shippers. I know quite a few who're very good human beings and tolerant and accepting above all. However these aren't. In this case, you might sense quite a bit of levelheadedness in the beginning, however you must not be fooled as it goes south and takes a nasty turn very quickly. Don't get your hopes up, this is some of the worst shit I've ever seen, especially the way in which it progresses through its course. Naturally, for this post I have picked my own style of writing which will match that of those redditors. Reddit is the perfect breeding ground for all these weird cults, honestly. I shall be resorting to a formal language and style of conversation, very much like a debater would to sound as pretentious as these do. These posts are found on the instagram handle toxicharmonyshippers who gather such toxic musings and sayings for Harmione shippers while respecting the ones that are nice.

Oh yes, let's use words like 'vehemently' to sound smart, why not? Of course, this little tidbit of the highly stupendous post seems more or less civil at the start. They also have the common decency to say "some Romione shippers" rather than generalizing all of us. Very nice of you, how very saint like. Let's wait till they drop the act and show us their true colors. Harkening back to the argument, I have but one question for you, "where do you find these people?". Where's the proof? Who are these radical Romione shippers who worship Ron and dislike Hermione? I haven't seen any such shippers and I am surrounded by Romione shippers on tumblr, instagram and fan fiction sites as well and haven't met the people you speak of. Some point out her flaws, yes, but no one hates her or dislikes her that much. I have seen two or three Romione shippers across hundreds and thousands who're skeptical of Hermione's perfection. you can, through these, see the amount of Hermione bashing across Harry Potter fanfiction and you can see that even in Romione fanfiction there's more Ron bashing. Hermione-bashing is a non-issue. That's what it is. Regarding the "nagging" statement, where's the lie in that? "Annoying" is somewhat subjective, I personally don't find her annoying at all. Who are these people and how often do you find them? "Mary Sue" is only reserved for Movie!Hermione. I have only seen book fans call her that. No one has ever called Book!Hermione Mary Sue. The movie does paint her as a flawless, all-rounder who's also drop-dead gorgeous. Only things she's bad at are flying and divination, all of which she denounces as useless, even though flying is like biking for wizards, divination, sure, not that important. with a teacher like Trelawney, even I would denounce it as hokum.

Remember what I said about waiting for them to show us their true colors, well here they are. Bask in the glory of their senseless arguments. Why, I am from reddit, heck I have 25 thousand karma points on there, I just left because it was too stupid for me but I can argue like them very well. And in this case I would like to say that these people are under the impression that Ron is just there in the story for the sake of existence. And he doesn't work hard. That argument is of course, wrong. Because Ron (in no particular order):

1) fights a troll when he's 11

2) is willing to sacrifice himself when he's 11

3) stands up for his friends

4) makes sure Harry feels like he belongs in the family

5) worries about Harry and rescues him from literal jail

6) stands up against Draco rather than by-standing and enabling his behavior

7) tries his level best to make sure Norbert the dragon is in safe hands and carries it out, albeit not in perfection

8) is with Harry every step of the way in his confronting the basilisk

9) sends Harry and Hermione long letters and calls them often to check up on them

10) stands up on a bitten leg to defend his best friend

11) always apologizes for any of his mistakes and is forgiving when others wrong him

12) works his way to join the Quidditch team unlike Draco who most certainly bought his way in

13) destroys at least 2 horcruxes

14) finds out how to defeat a horcrux

15) has an excellent enough memory and observation to notice Harry speaking parseltongue and also using it to his benefit which proves he's resourceful

now since I have 8 more such pictures to rebut and I do have a life, I will stop. These aren't even a twelfth of the remarkable things Ron has done though, so rest assured.

oh wait what did you say about him just existing and not working for anything? If I recall correctly, he did just as well as Harry did in school and didn't score well only in subjects he didn't care about. Which is true for most people except for Hermione who has an eidetic memory which not everyone has, understandably. Rote memorization is not the best way to get by in life, by the way.

what are the "so many reasons" behind why Harry is the best fit for Hermione? Kindly share so I can rebut those too, I'm rather free nowadays, my finals have been cancelled. You say there are so many reasons but don't even give one, yet you want me to take you seriously. I'm afraid that's impossible.

Romione shipper here, i don't dislike Hermione. I haven't met or seen many people in the book!romione fandom who dislike Hermione (except for Movie!Hermione). The question of someone you like ending up with someone you dislike doesn't particularly make sense. In Friends, Chandler ends up with Monica: now I'm not the biggest Monica fan (I don't hate her but I don't like her very much either) but they are my favorite couple because they make sense. It's about compatibility and character traits, not liking or disliking because that's just a set-up for a ghastly invitation for people to pair up hideousness. "Oh yeah, I like Harry and I also like Hagrid, they should be together. I mean it would be very very disgusting but that's my logic, now, you can't fight it. "- that's how you sound. Please read what you write. Your logic is just...abysmal. That's all I can say without breaking my resolve and berating you with colorful profanities.

This is without the doubt, the easiest one to rebut. It's a delight to see such terrible arguments at my disposal. Come on, dear Harmione shippers, write something that makes me question my choices, not things that make me scoff in disbelief.

In this case, you're essentially providing us with theories. Unproved theories and speculation of what you believe because you'd say anything you like. Where's the proof of your theory, though? Where is that crazy radical Romione shipper who does this? Kindly show me these people. Oh yes, you wanna say we objectify Hermione and disrespect her and view her as a prize. This aches me, that you believe this. No one has ever insinuated this, ever, in the history of anything. What is this winner-loser theory? How do you round off Harry Potter to "an alpha-male ends up with lead-lady" trope and still say you're a fan of the series? Harry Potter doesn't fit in with that format. Ron, Hermione and Harry are co-heroes. Similar to how there's no main character in Friends or the Heroes of Olympus series or the Avengers. We're not living in the 80s anymore. Hermione will be a hero, invariably whether she ends up with Harry, Ron or no one. She ends up with Ron and that's it. Talking about her like this doesn't make you sound any better either. Now you're calling me a misogynist because I don't support the ship of two people who describe themselves as siblings. That's very mature of you. Well here's the thing- I'm not a misogynist. It's as simple as that. I believe that women are capable of anything and everything. I believe Hermione is an amazing person and she is a hero and a different person. I believe the series would be impossible without her. I believe she is no one's prize. There's no requirement of a prize. I just think, similar to canon and the truth and her romantic interest, she will have a great relationship with Ron. There's nothing complex or deep about it, really. No personal weird-thing, no psychological complex, no internalized misogyny. There's nothing deeper than what I said. I am not sexist. I am a feminist. I am all for women empowerment. I love women with the fabric of my being. I love Hermione. I think she's amazing. You only become sexist when you ship people with unstable power dynamics, a bully-victim relation or something of the sort. Neither Romione, nor Harmione are sexist. Heck if you paired Neville with Hermione you wouldn't be sexist. And I hate talking about this so much, I can't even tell you. This talk does make it sound like I treat Hermione like an object and I assure you I respect her and I normally won't talk like this unless someone just outright calls me sexist for something that's not sexist. And this is that situation.

in the case of Romione, no one is too good for anyone. Both are amazing people who're heroes and have done amazing work. That's all I have to say. There's no league, they are romantically interested in each other. I have no intention on sounding lame, but, in love there is no league. As long as you're not putting in any effort and are extremely lazy and leech off of your partner, there is no such concept and no, Hermione is not "too good" for him. Unless of course you're talking about movie Hermione, who is too good for anyone.

hey, see, I like Ron and I took the time to copy-paste this instead of asking you to scroll up. And I'm a lot of bad things but I am not lazy. I stick to my deadlines like Hermione. I start my homework in library class and continue it during phys ed the day its given. And I am not exaggerating. Bloody hell, I wish I was. I'm the ceo of deadlines, mate, don't tempt me! So you can see that Ron is much more than just a "nice bloke". And being a "nice bloke" isn't a bad thing either. He's all the things I said: intuitive, strategic, helpful, loyal and on top of that he's also a nice person. Yes, I do see a bit of myself in Ron. I do. I see the insecure side. I waste my time hating myself and criticizing myself and undermining myself, telling me I'm no good. But Ron overcomes that. He inspires me to appreciate myself. Is that a bad thing? Are you going to shame me for having a low self-esteem? Do you want to worsen my low self-esteem and make me feel more like shit?

Now the person who replied to your comment saying, "he isn't a nice bloke most of time.", he is. He is not being nice twice in a span of 7 years. How often do you act rudely or with jealousy? Wasn't Harry yelling at everyone in caps lock in OOTP. Now I don't condemn him for that because he's a fucking hormonal teenager like me and that would make me a hypocrite, but by your logic why don't you condemn him? Or why not condemn Hermione for saying "I only date good Quidditch players" and shoving canaries at Ron's face because someone else kissed him, while she kept using Krum and Cormac to make him jealous. She wasn't being a nice girl, then, was she? Now, once again, i don't dislike her or hold that against her because guess what, mate, I'm a hormonal teenage girl who gets jealous most of the time and would probably react in a similar fashion in the spur of the moment (Not defending her actions here, just putting myself in her shoes.) In short, Ron is a nice bloke MOST OF THE TIME.

It would be misogynistic to think that. The thing is, NO ONE DOES my dear friend! My dear daft friend. I have never heard anyone say that! why are you so hell-bent on portraying us as misogynists when no one ever says that? Stop assuming. Just stop. You are crossing a limit here, aren't you? Yes you are. You cannot say these sort of things. We never said that or believed that, no one ever said this to be a reason to ship Romione. God what is wrong with you? Ron is not a perfect best boi , the reason why so many of us like him is that he's imperfect and tries to become better through the course of time. You are once again assuming and I am once again asking you to stop.

Ron might be an ordinary wizard. He might be poor, sure, but he's a pure-blood and won't face much if he chose not to fight. But he did. He fought. Now I identify with Ron's attitude a fair bit, but I am also likely to spend my day in a library without noticing. People aren't one dimensional. Stop trying to act like you're a psychologist, i know you're not. I don't even think Hermione's overbearing at all! You just insulted someone you're a big fan of. Jesus.

Both Hermione and Ron are strategic, jealous, passionate, feisty, argumentative, intellectual...

that's like 6 similarities. They aren't polar opposites in the slightest. Their differences are just: workaholic, not workaholic. Nerd, not a nerd. Like that's fucking it, man!

being relaxed doesn't make you less independent or driven. A relaxed and levelheaded Hermione will think through things, not be impulsive, not panic etc. She doesn't need Ron. I don't understand your obsession with acting like we ever insinuated that. Then she doesn't need Harry either lol. Stop shipping her with Harry, then or like shut the fuck up. Being a bit relaxed won't stop her or anyone from hitting great strides. Just don't get relaxed to the point you're lazy and casual about everything, that's it.

What do you mean? Ron is balanced. He does finish his work on time. And even if he does procrastinate, she could also help him not and be more driven. Of course, this is an open invitation for you to call me a sexist bitch because I said that she could help him and now you'll think her goal is to help him become better yada yada yada. Fuck off. Defeating the horcrux taught him enough. He respected her. He remembered about the elves when she didn't. He begged to be tortured instead of her. He wouldn't need it because school work and jobs are different and the same person might perceive those differently. Calmness and relaxation doesn't hinder your potential. Not caring and laziness does. You can't function if you work and are stressed 24/7 with zero breaks. Period.

No i do not want (nor does anyone want) Hermione to become Ron. Being slightly calmer doesn't change up your personality. I'm sure many people dislike those sort of fanfics without a doubt. I hate OOC and I don't want Hermione to lose her intellect with Ron because that makes no sense. Ron himself is intellectual and loves arguing with her. They'd boost each other, more like it.

hood is just, perfect. reading those 100 chapters were so much fun. it is the best smau i have read yet! truly, i love it so much. first of all, i'd like to point out the hilarious things i found in the profiles chapter. i love how sunwoo's username is "thesunrises" and his bio being "when i start rapping" LMAO plus juyeon's tweet in the same chapter reminds me of chan's "do you know what else is big? my feet." it was hard silencing my laugh, especially since it was around early morning and everybody else living in the house is asleep. the concept that hood is not one, but 3 entities, is really cool. it legit felt like i was watching a movie.

i'm really happy with the endgame, bias things ig ✨ the pictures of changmin that you used for the tweets were really 😌👌 changmin shy trope is now my favourite. i promise, you won't be able to imagine the many times that fic made me flustered. when he straight up confessed, omaygad. at first, i thought reader would end up with younghoon. but reading their first conversation with changmin after many many years of not talking (?) , I PROMISE YOU, I FELT IT. i felt the changmin endgame mate.

i'm going to rant about changmin's character just bc. HE'S ADORABLE!!!!! changmin trying to find out hood's real identity for reader is so cute huhu. and the part where he got jealous of sunwoo bc reader and him kept on calling each other 'baby' just for funs, really got me screaming. that was my favourite part, i honestly don't know why. maybe bc i'm a sucker for jealousy leads or bc that's when changmin accepted his own feeling. idk lmfao. as much as how i love his simp-like (??) tendencies, i adore the fact that he stood up for himself at the end when he felt like he wasn't trusted by reader. it just shows that as much as he cares for them, he has self-love and respect, sum shit like that. anyways, i like their (reader and changmin) relationship. they can comfortably talk out any problems lol. v v v v v cute.

reader's character is just 🙇👑. i love how determined they are about their goals. the robin hood idea is just wow. i love how they were set on in exposing the academy's dark side even though they knew how much trouble they are getting into. just, mad respect. the thought itself seems reckless but how are we going to achieve success if we don't take risks? i just love love love love them. periodt. plus the fact that they were ready for any consequences is just 👌👌👌.

younghoon is so clever in thinking of using sharpie to hide the notes. like omg. kinda dumb if you were supposed to you know, 'not get caught' BUT SINCE THAT'S NOT HIS PLAN, i just pure adoration for him please. it really was insensitive of reader at the end when they asked younghoon to help with the 'sending president kim to jail' scheme. it's still his father after all (add the fact that reader literally apologized and thanked every single character individually to the 13 reasons why i love reader). but, he thought rationally and that's why the plan succeeded. younghoon is king. happy for him that he gets to pursue music <333

eric and sunwoo deserves the best best best friend award, like seriously. i cannot get over the 3's friendship, they are wholesome af. eric and sunwoo might be my favourite characters in the series huhu. hyunjae was surprisingly perceptive. his character is the most hilarious one LMFAO also haknyeon, like wtf. he's smart. if reader didn't end up with changmin, might have shipped them with haknyeon LOL chanhee is such a mood every damn time. i love him too. I LOVE ALL OF THEM. anyways, shout out to kevin, jacob, juyeon, and sangyeon :">>

Oh no now I feel like explaining in depth why I love Baalsam and why I ship it... oh no... someone stop me 😩... LET'S FREAKING GO I'M GONNA EXPLAIN WHY!!!!

Mino’s “Here’s why I love BaalSam so much” aka just me gathering up the few baalsam crumbs the show writers, Amanda Tapping and Cliff Simon left in their wake....and baking a cake with those crumbs.

Before I start, PSA: English is not my first language, so please bear with me if there are any mistakes 😭

Okay so I feel like at first I can't explain it without mentioning the differences with jacksam, and to all jacksam shippers: I love jacksam to bits too and they're so good, as the show has showed us multiple times, but I miss a little spice here 😩🌶️

I will also briefly talk about things I have found in Baalsam fics that I adore in (Fic points)!! And link back to fics I love with (x)!!!!

(Mid-writing note: I realize I say a lot about Baal and less about Sam, and that is because I just think about Baal way much than I think about Sam, mainly because we have so little Baal screentime compared to Sam’s screentime. I often wonder how/what he feels and try to analyze his behavior closely. 🥺 I don’t do it as much with Sam, sadly 😭

1. The ship dynamic scale (totally made up by yours truly, me 😎)

I often describe the ships I prefer as "A is obnoxious and B is struggling to stay sane" (maybe because it is a description of my own relationship??? 🤔) (this is exagerrated for fun and giggles don't worry i am fine and happy). They are all a variation of this, in different levels. I'd say jacksam fits level 1, Jack being obnoxious sometimes but in an endearing, jokingly, "aww you're such a goof 😍😂" way, and Sam's not really struggling, she just laughs and shakes her head, her heart full of love for her man.

Baalsam on the other hand. Oh boy. They are on level 5 out of 5. What the hell. Baal is obnoxious, in the villain way. And that means, a VERY extra way. He's mean obnoxious. Putting salt in the wound obnoxious. "if you don't shut up I will punch your teeth in/shoot you" obnoxious. Sam is struggling every minute to stay sane with this crazy motherfucker. He's SO MUCH. ALL THE TIME. But joke's on her, she also thinks it's funny. 🤡 That's her sanity flying out the window.

Seriously, Sam has to put her foot down. She has to play Baal’s game and sometimes be mean too. I feel like Baalsam allows Sam to unveil her true potential. A strong woman who takes no shit from men and 2000 years old overlords. She can be 200% true, smug, mean. Maybe JackSam respect each other too much they wouldn’t dare saying/doing some things like Baalsam would 🤔 Maybe Sam is restrained by everything she lived with Jack, the respect she has for him, the 10 or so years spent having him as her superior officer.

A lot think that Sam got her smug from Jack, but I don’t agree: she was smug from the get-go in COFG. She just can’t be too smug with him around or it’d sound like insubordination. Aint she tired of being nice? Doesn’t she wanna go apeshit? That’s what baalsam is. Sam going apeshit and quitting being the perfect nice girl.

Baalsam is an explosive volcano and it ravaged me 😩💖💖💖

2. Baal is a Villain

Send him to horny villain jail!!! BONK!!! 💥🔨

Baal being a villain is VERY important. Villains are so extreme. Everything he does, he does way too hard and too much. His evil plans? As layered as an ogre. Onion. I meant onion. His wardrobe? Nothing but the finest. His love? He'd give his Queen the Universe.

I love that. Everything he does, it's too much. But it's so amazing. Urghhj I love it SO MUCH. Sam is overwhelmed 😩💖 All of that for HER?? Damn, boi either really wants to get laid with her especially or.. 🙊‼️ I love the concept of a Villain’s Love because it knows no boundaries. A villain won’t be held back by things like morals, the love they feel is disproportionate......AND I DONT KNOW Sam being able to provoke this kind of feeling in Baal’s little snake heart makes me lose my absolute fucking mind!!!!!

Very important too: even if he becomes a SGC ally in one way or another in whatever AU, Baal will still keep his good ol' villain habits. Sam would try to tone them down, but they will always be there. You don't erase 2000 years of bad habits 😭. His first solution will be murder, and she will go "we talked about this." Classical Enemies to Lovers shit 🥴💖 (x)

(Fic point: When Baal does something so extreme yet so so soooo damn sweet for her and Sam can’t believe it??? 10/10 Or when he acts on his villain plans for distasteful jokes and that puts Sam on a tight spot and he immediately feels bad at the unfair treatment she gets because of him (x))

3. The endless verbal jousting

I love watching them being mean to each other. If Baal goes too far, she /would/ hit him, and he would turn his other cheek saying "Do it again, loved it". What a freak 🥴🌶️ (x)

Honestly I just love their little sparring matches, even more so when they do it in front of an audience. Like lmao guys..... y'all flirting in front of everyone what the hell!!! BONK !! 💥🔨 horny jail for both of you. At least Teal’c seems to enjoy their jousting 😂 He even teases them holy shit, Teal’c is the true multishipper in that show!!!!

(Fic point: When they argue and come to a fistfight (mostly Sam hitting and Baal taking or blocking the hits)? HELL YEAH!!!!)

4. Admitting the other’s qualities

I’ll start with Baal:

Baal seems to appreciate the courage Sam shows in front of him. You could explain her confidence in The Quest by saying that at this very moment Baal doesn’t have an advantage on Sam since she’s the one holding the gun. There is something else, and I will bring it up later.

Let’s talk about Reckoning!!!! The situation is different, Baal actually called for help whereas he was supposed to kill everyone on Dakara. And here goes the little sparring match in front of Jacob 🤡 Sam ordering Baal around??? Being smug as hell??? 10/10 love it

It’s the first time he sees her and he’s taken aback. He should look mad, having a woman addressing him like that. But he looks rather surprised and curious of what’s going to happen next. I can literally hear the little “Hm. Interesting.” in his head. Baal enjoys that smug look on her face. Tau’ri female who??? Who IS she!!! Quick gotta be a jerk so she won’t suspect I’m crushing super hard right now!!!! Cliff Simon decided Baal will be the horny one among the System Lords and holy shit he did just that 😂😂😂 i’m sorry i’m just incohenrently babbling at this point I CANT BELIEVE THIS, I LOVE THEM SO MUCH!!!!!!!! you thought that huge ass post was going to be me thoughtfully bringing points and evidence? nope it’s just me losing my shit.

I believe that, despite what Baal says, he recognizes Sam’s intelligence to some extent. He’s just too proud to say it clearly and is too busy testing Sam’s limits. The more I think about it, the more I feel like he really looked for that punch in The Quest. Some kind of... I don’t know... “What makes you so special, as a female Tau’ri, to be on your kind’s elite scout team? How much can you take before you retaliate, if you retaliate at all? Show me what you’re made of.” kind of thing? Baal has shown some kind of interest in Earthlings in the past. He has studied them while living among them and he seems to like how different they are from other humans, Now he knows she’s as fierce as she needs to be to survive in this galaxy.

Have you sEEN his smile and his laugh after she punched him in The Quest? AFTER SHE TURNED HER BACK TO HIM TOO, OH, MY GOD. He really wanted a drastic reaction from her and he got it.

That is a “I love me a woman who can kick my ass” kinda smile if you ask me 👁️w👁️...

What makes me think that it was a test is: after the punch and Sam’s threat to kill him, he stops being so annoying and they can finally work together. But why? Why did he care about being killed? He was a clone, there’s no way he was still hoping to steal the Sangraal from SG-1, so his mission as this one Baal clone couldn’t be fulfilled anyway. That makes me think that he was just testing Sam’s limits, and maybe having a little fun with her.

(Fic point: I LOVE IT when Baal gets access to the SGC and everyone gets on his nerves because he thinks they are all dumb as shit. But when he talks with Sam, he’s not so annoyed. She can keep up with him. Well, sometimes she needs a little help but- Maybe she’s okay to be with sometimes...(x))

Sam’s turn:

It’s no problem for Sam to admit Baal’s intelligence. However the idea of working with him just makes her go [grimacing emoji] 😭 😭 😭 She just knows he’s gonna be obnoxious pfahahaha But!! She trusts and values his knowledge nonetheless! She knows that teamed up with Baal, they can solve anything. I believe that’s why she asks him for help so easily despite...Well, Baal being Baal.

I feel like, when you put the "it’s a matter of life and death” thing aside, Sam’s desire to learn could push her towards Baal. She knows there is a lot she could learn from him, and they can work together once he stops insulting her every 5 seconds. She can learn from him in those moments.

(Fic point: I love fics where Sam learns things from Baal... It’s usually very sweet, because Sam is absolutely adorable when she’s excited about science and Baal can’t help but melt a little bit when she smiles so bright at him. Thankful.)

5. Sam’s kindness

I said earlier that, as we all know, Baal is a villain. But what’s important here is that he is a Goa’uld System Lord.

No trust, no kindness and love allowed between those guys. Those would leave the door open for treason and low blows. (See Qetesh in Continuum)

(I believe the only Goa’ulds truly in love we saw were Apophis and Amaun’et)

Now what I tell myself is: that must be pretty freaking lonely. In any shape or form. You can’t have friends, because you can only befriend your fellow godlings who will try to kill you at any given opportunity. Same for mates. 🤔 Baal is just alone at the top of his army and that’s all. What if this isn’t enough? He is different from other Goa’ulds.

What if Sam’s genuine worry and thankfulness towards him in Reckoning were the first time he had someone feel those towards him for like, hundreds, or even thousands of years? Not something distorted and stained by any slave-to-god adoration?

He is soooo surprised. He even stutters a little? At a loss for words when faced with kindness, you, galactic overlord? And she looks actually worried about him and his ship about to go down, when before saying thank you, she asks him what’s going on. I like to think that this first interaction shaped what Baal will think and feel for Sam forever....And that it made him a bit soft for her 🥺 Maybe he sees in Sam (and in the rest of SG-1, see: how much fun he’s having with them during The Quest) a possibility for friendship and maybe more, something he hasn’t considered for A WHILE. He seems to be thinking “did she really say that...wait what do I answer to this...uh....Good luck.......ok i said it. damn that was weird.”

Also can I briefly talk about this??

Why does Sam look so embarrassed in a “Oh god right Dad is right there and saw all of that hUM.” way 😂 I don’t think she felt like it was creepy, since Baal was just responding to her kindness, and she definetely doesn’t want to talk about her being nice to a System Lord with Jacob bjfdjgbfdg

(Fic point: All I can think of is this fic where Sam gets thrown in a prison cell with a badly beaten up Baal (his symbiote is not able to heal his wounds because of a collar he wears), and she refuses to leave him there to die. They escape together 😭💖💖💖 (x))

6. Sam knows Baal will never hurt her

Maybe this is a result of Sam’s kindness in Reckoning, but Baal made it clear to Sam that he would never hurt her directly. And this is what I was referring to when I said “there’s something else” in Sam’s confidence in confronting Baal. This line below activates all of my monkey braincells because what the hell!!!!

That’s “I kinda like you” in Villain language is it not????? Out of all the things Baal could have answered to “You can kill me if you want”, he decides to say “I would never dream of killing you.” with a voice so soft... oh my god. Talking about soft....

Is it me or Baal’s touch on Sam is kind of gentle....like he doesn’t hold her wrist too tight or anything,,,, 🥺🥺🥺😭😭😭💖💖💖 Because honestly, another Goa’uld would have yanked on her arm so hard to put their hands on that hard drive but no no no he just closes his hand on her wrist and lets her go gently when she pulls out of his grip and AM I OVERANALYZING THIS?????? IM SORRY I GOT THAT TRAIT FROM MY DAD!!!!!!! we just have that tendency to watch things over and over again to notice all the small detailsssss

I like to think that afterwards, once the heat of the moment gone, she noticed that, hey. He /could/ have hurt her very badly, she was at his mercy after all. But he decided against it. Maybe because she’s the only one who’s been nice to him for literal cenTURIES????? HHHNHNHNHNHN I CANT!!!!!!!!!!! I HOPE SHE NOTICED IT!!!! And that it’s why she’s so confident addressing him like she does in The Quest.

I think I’ve addressed pretty much everything here and I’m going to talk about more things I like about BaalSam but more on the headcanon side 🤔

Miscellaneous:

About Baal’s host:

I have said multiple times that Baal is different from other Goa’ulds, and I really don’t think it is just an act.

He is willing to break the god act, change strategies when he realizes there are better ways to proceed, searching for new allies in drastic situations, etc etc... Baal is way more human than other Goa’ulds.

What if that was because Baal let his host’s thoughts influence his own?

Why wouldn’t there be asshole humans wanting to be hosts to asshole Goa’uld symbiotes? Just like the Tok’ra, but on the villain side? (even if Tok’ras are assholes lol) (except Jacob. I love Jacob) (And Martouf) (I don’t like Martouf but he’s the only one with Jacob that I consider a Real Tok’ra) (The other ones are hypocrites) (ANYWAY!)

I love to think that when Baal doesn’t have the flanged voice, it is his host who speaks, as Tok’ras do. I know symbiotes don’t have to talk with the flanged voice but. Having Baal and his host thinking so alike that it doesn’t matter if it’s the host or the symbiote talking makes so much sense to me. It really could explain his different way of thinking. Baal has shown curiosity for humans and how they think, how to better manipulate them...What if it was because of the good experience he has with his host? It could also explain why he’s the horny one amongst the System Lords 😂 He is just very human in a lot of ways.

Now you’re like “ok but what does that have to do with Baalsam” AND YEAH I HEAR YOU !!!! I just think it may be easier to imagine Baalsam for a non-shipper if you see Baal in that light? 🤔 🤔 🤔 it sure helps Sam seeing herself with him in fics 🥴 I don’t know!!! We know so little about Baal, and there are so many possibilites. I’m going way out of the Baalsam remit but at the same time, I strongly believe those who don’t understand the ship are those who stop their analysis of Baal at Abyss. He is so much more than just “that one Goa’uld who tortured and killed Jack in that one episode”. Baal has so much potential that makes this ship work!! Sam seeing that potential makes this ship work!

Sam hosting Baal (yes, the symbiote):

OKAY OKAY OKAY SO!!! This is something I LOVE to bits!!

That’s a thing that is great if as I said, Baal and his host are on the same wavelength. But it can work without it nonetheless.

Sam hosting Baal, consensual or not, is always ALWAYS such an amazing trope. (x) It’s really something that makes me hyperventilate because it makes them so close...so blended...it’s infinitely intimate... When Baal is in love with Sam, it’s even better. (x) I almost can’t describe it because it is so wonderful. Being able to feel each other’s feelings. Baal healing Sam from inside when she’s injured. Sam deciphering his emotions and most importantly the affection he has for her, especially when he still haven’t confessed it? holy shit it’s SO DAMN GOOD!!!!! The silent conversations they can have within Sam’s head, Baal pouring Goa’uld knowledge into Sam’s mind. It’s just the two of them and I can’t express how comforting that is to read.

I don't even know how to start this crap off. Just what in the absolute FUCK is wrong with this fandom? What the fuck is wrong with people in general?

So earlier a friend told me that their Stevnel server was raided. Curious, I asked another friend who's in the server to send screenshots of what happened. (sense I am not there)

This is the shit I got.

The people in red are the anti fuckers and the yellow are the members. I don't even know why I bothered covering up their names, not like they'd do it for us.

Anyway.

My friend told me that the whole time these mother fuckers were there, they were being extremely passive aggressive, saying shit like "anyway ship Connverse because it's not a pedophile ship" and of course, calling them pedophiles.

Steve felt a scream building behind his teeth. Everything was a mess and he was stuck in a fucking jail cell.

He had just wanted a fun day out with Robin, but now Billy had to take the day off to come bail him out of jail and Dustin would never let it go that he lost another fight and Robin was probably pissed because she told him to stop and-

Before he could spiral further down the rabbit hole, a uniformed officer came to the back and unlocked his cell. Steve immediately stood up and hustled to follow the silent cop back to the front of the station. Billy and Robin were waiting for him, Robin looking her usual mix of annoyed and amused while Billy looked pissed. Steve knew better now though, after over a year of dating and two years of close friendship, Steve knew the wrinkle between his brow and the twitch at the corner of his brow weren’t signs of anger, but signs of fear. Billy was worried.

And he had a right to be. Steve hadn’t gotten in a fight since that night in November and even then he hadn’t thrown the first punch. It took a lot for him to attack first. But a lot had happened after all.

Steve remained silent all the way through signing the release papers and the walk to the car, only muttering enough to say goodbye to Robin and that he’d catch up with her tomorrow. Then he pulled open the passenger door of the Camaro and climbed in with a huff. While he waited for Billy to say his own farewells to Robin and walk over to the driver’s side, Steve took stock of himself. The adrenaline was beginning to wear off, and he felt overall achy with bright flares of pain in his ribs when he breathed too deep, and he could only see out of his right eye. He reached up to touch the cut on his lip, only to hiss when the gentle prodding caused it to split open again.

He was a certifiable mess. And Billy was never going to let him hear the end of it.

When the man himself settled into the driver’s seat and revved up the Camaro’s beastly engine, Steve sank further into himself and prepared for an interrogation. Instead, the oppressive silence continued all the way back to their apartment above Melvald’s General Store. They got all the way upstairs and into their apartment before Billy broke.

“What the fuck Pretty Boy? You’re lucky your parents sent you enough cash to cover your bail for Christmas.” Billy’s voice was rough and sharp, frustration clear. They were supposed to use that money to begin saving for a better apartment, of course he would be pissed.

“I- I don’t know Billy. It- Everything just happened so fast.”

“Well, you gotta do better than that babe. Need more information as to what drove you to assault a fucking police officer,” he snarled the last few words.

“That, that was an accident. I didn’t realize he was behind me.” Steve looked down sheepishly, and fell back onto the bed. Elbowing Officer Powell had been what snapped him out of his blind rage, but by then it was far too late. The damage had been done, and Steve had officially assaulted a police officer.

“Okay. At least Hopper won’t kill you for that. But what started this whole thing? Robin said you took a flying fuck leap at the guy, but wouldn’t tell me why. Why Pretty Boy?” He asked as he sat gingerly on the bed next to Steve.

“He uh-” Steve scratched the back of his neck as he thought of how to word what happened. “He asked me why King Steve was hanging out with a dyke.” Steve dropped his hand and sighed.

“That’s not the end is it?” Billy asked, quieter, picking up Steve’s limp hand.

“No,” Steve shook his head, “It gets worse. After his like, his squad or whatever laughed, he kept going. Said it was probably for the same reasons I waste “an ass that won’t quit on a guy with a limp dick.” I… I kind of lost the plot after that.” Billy sighed and shifted to face Steve’s hunched form.

“Babe, look at me?” Billy tried to nudge his head up, but Steve just shook it again, more violently than before. “Come on Baby, show me those pretty eyes? Please?” Billy’s nudges became more insistant until finally Steve lifted his head and met his eyes. “There’s my Bambi. It’s okay. I understand, yeah? But violence isn’t the answer to intolerance.”

“I know,” Steve whined, “but he was just so… so smarmy about the whole thing too. Like he was God’s gift for calling me out. Not like it’s been three years since I’ve been King Steve.”

“Yeah, now you’re my Princess and I love you. But you still can’t go around acting like that. We ain’t kids anymore Stevie. Shit won’t fly with Hop much longer.” This time Steve nodded, and then seemed to deflate onto Billy. “Wanna cuddle and watch a movie?” Another nod prompted Billy to stand up and help his boyfriend back towards the living room.

It was when he tried to help Steve settle on the couch that a whimper broke free.

“What’s wrong Stevie?” He paused, taking his hands off of Steve’s ribs, where he had been trying to hold on and keep him from falling off the tiny couch.

"Don't touch me there. Like, everywhere else is good, just not there." He lifted up his own shirt. “He, uh, he kind of kicked me while I was on the floor. Probably bruised a rib or something. ‘S what the doc said at least.”

“If I hadn’t literally just said that violence wasn’t the answer, that punk would be dead.” As threatening as his words were, Billy’s hands were gentle as they ran lightly over the bruises beginning to form along Steve’s torso. Steve let his shirt drop back down and then proceeded to sprawl over Billy like a cat.

“What are we watching?” Steve asked, turning over to look up from where his head had settled in Billy’s lap.

“Whatever you want, Pretty boy. Whatever you want.”

“How about the King of the Rings prequel thingy Dustin was bugging me about?” Billy shook his head in mock exasperation and sighed.

“Yes, we can watch The Hobbit.”

Hi!! Thanks for the ask!! This ended up being really long and rambly lol. I've recently launched back into rewriting my novel, a good chunk of which is set in jail.

6. What character do you have the most fun writing?

That's such a hard question!!!

I almost never get bored of writing Gavin or Trystan tbh. Gavin's the main POV character of this, and I definitely like him enough for that but also I just,,, love Gavin so much. We're all shocked by this, I know.

Trystan's POV I think is more fun when we don't have as much of it in this WIP, and especially in the beginning, a lot of things about him are filtered through Gavin's lens of obliviousness and paranoia. We don't always know what's going on in Trystan's head and even when we do it's sometimes just like... wow you sure have some poetically described emotions and/or just spent 4 paragraphs spacing out thinking about the history of your backpack but that didn't answer any of the reader's questions.

I think Ari might be the most "fun" in her own way. Gavin and Trystan are all angst and violence and mental illness, entrenched in jail culture and trying to navigate toxic masculinity and systemic oppression. And then here's Ari being utterly wholesome and renaming Gavin's cat and sending memes which she thinks he ought to enjoy (and he really only gives a shit about them because they're from her). She doesn't let Gavin see how upsetting this is for her and she's kind of comedic relief.

2. Tell us about what you’re most looking forward to writing – in your current project, or a future project

I have a handful of favorite scenes in this WIP, which I've written a few times before in one draft or another. A lot of the others are flexible and I just need general vibes. Honestly I think the one I'm most attached to is pure angst and is also just a really socially uncomfortable circumstance for Gavin, nevermind all the feelings Trystan's having. It also marks a turning point in how Gavin thinks and feels about Trystan in a lot of ways.

(TW suicide mention in this next paragraph, also dubcon touch but it’s fine and no one’s traumatized, it’s just awkward)

It takes place after Trystan gets out of solitary confinement. Gavin's at first really relieved to see him, but then is utterly baffled by how to handle his pal climbing all over him, talking very explicitly about suicidal ideation/past suicide attempts... and also kissing him.

Up until this point they've literally never even hugged -- Gavin offered a hug once and Trystan just stared at him til he put his arms down. They've had a lot of deep conversations but only one which was even comparably emotionally loaded for Trystan.

Gavin wouldn't know how to handle these situations separately, let alone at the same time!!! And he's also realizing that he's gotten way more attached to Trystan than he ever meant to, and here are all the reasons why it was a bad idea. Right here, in his lap.

20. Tell us the meta about your writing that you really want to ramble to people about (symbolism you’ve included, character or relationship development that you love, hidden references, callbacks or clues for future scenes?)

Okay so... I tried for a bit to be like "this particular project isn't whump" but so many things that happen are whump tropes and fit right in in whump discussions and it's pretentious pretending it's Something Else Entirely. So I did more reconsidering!

To me defining a piece of writing as being primarily whump allows me a lot of freedom to sadistically do whatever the fuck I want to my characters.

It's got self indulgent bullshit, homoerotic wound tending scenes, and LOTS of angst, but ultimately it’s """about""" mental illness and friendship and romance and personal growth, and also kind of about systemic injustice. I want it to be something I could hypothetically feel okay showing people outside of the whump fandom, and for them to still get something positive out of it and not be like “wtf is this.”

Whereas some of the stuff I RP is just "ahaha this is terrible! let's make more suffering happen just because its bad, nevermind symbolic plot arcs or the political implications or whatever!" Or like Guard Dog AU is just... I dont even know. Pure self indulgent bullshit.

And I get that people can write both in one story! I guess in the end whump is a thing that happens in this WIP but that's not what the story’s main goal is for me personally?

Although that’s not to say I'm not getting some whumpy satisfaction out of certain scenes.
