The brendan story as an allegory for the timeless child is so fascinating to me purely because there's parts of it that just....aren't quite right. Like the loving parents and the cliff fall being more malicious instead of accidental. Iirc the story was created by Tecteun so some of the changes make sense (the loving parents- tecteun sees herself as a saviour) but why the other changes? Just to make it make more sense? To seem more unremarkable?

I love that the brendan story is like. Everything is perfectly normal. Until you look a little too closely. Or watch a little too long. But even if someone had watched the whole thing, if theyre not familiar with earth customs, they might just assume everyone who retires from the garda gets their memory wiped. But even so, if they're paying attention then theyll probably find it a bit odd that brendan had aged but his loving father and supportive superior officer (who are now both torturing him and wiping his memory) haven't aged at all somehow. It's such a good allegory for the story of tecteun and the other higher ups exploiting the timeless child for endless life (thus lack of ageing) then betraying them after initially posing as someone to be trusted

me : so I have this idea with the first years in a band

This is all her fault and now everyone can reap the results of what we came up with together

I might actually make this into actual fic but if anyone wants to make their own than go wild

Basically my original idea was just the first years, including yuu, just randomly started a band together. Then the idea of them hiding their identity was pitched and now here is just the jumble of headcanons we came up with

okay so since we found out they can sing from VDC, im gonna be assuming that the rest of the first years (ie Jack and Sebek) can sing but then i started thinking of them as an actual band

sebek probably joined to impress malleus or something but ended up having fun and just stayed

considering the upbringing Sebek has, he probably has some proficiency with piano

ace and epel probably know how to play the guitar (ace had a guitar phase prove me wrong)

deuce has bassist vibes and jack on drums bc mmmmm jack on drums

we said yuu was the miku equivalent bc project sekai but lets not talk abt that

we liked to think that their singing voices would be different from their usual voices (epel doing deep vocals/screaming, sebek doing the softer vocals, jack having a raspy voice, etc etc)

then they go a step further to having a hidden identity with virtual avatars

like they can’t exactly say theyre 16 year olds from NRC for various reasons

so they went to, yes you guessed it, idia shroud

listen idia has been consuming this media for years so he knows what hes doing

so hes basically the manager at this point and does all technical stuff to it bc lets be honest who else is best to do this

this man is living his idol manager dreams and ortho is cheering him on

hes the one who creates the fanchant which both amazes and horrifies the firsy years

hes probably the one who gets the avatars at this point and gets everyones opinions on what they want but only to an extent bc no epel you wont be getting a buff avatar no matter how much you plead

Knifeplay

This topic will cover bodily harm and scaring for anyone uncomfortable with that this might be one to skip!

Hello degenerates its been awhile :))

Look. Things have gotten a little crazy ive learned quite a lot recently and I’m here to start sharing! Today were going to be covering knifeplay and otherkintiy! I hope your excited cause I sure am, so let’s hop into it.

Knifeplay is a kink or fetish revolving around sexual activities with a knife. Threatening someone with a knife, cutting, slashing, marking, etching. Using it for symbolism or to communicate intent. It is very versatile and different blade shapes, types of knife, size of knife, and the symbolism of a knife can impact the play.

So what makes knifeplay fun. Well for one this is a kink you need to know where your limits on your body is. Before jumping into knifeplay perhaps consider the following. Do i want scars? Where do i feel safe being cut? Is there anywhere thats absolutely not ok to interact with? What type of play do I feel okay with?

Typically theres going to be a lot pf communication because of the inherent very real danger of handling knives. Before doing any kind of knife play you should be fully confident in handling and maintaining knives, you should know how to cut with them, you may also want to learn basics in first aid or get first aid training for minor cuts.

My personal suggestion to beginners would to be to use a butter knife, something with 0 edge that absolutely cannot cut you and practice with your sub with that. Until both of you feel confident and move up. Here’s some general information on knifeplay.

Pressing harder = more dangerous

Dull knives with intent to draw blood or slash someone is going to make the wound less concise and more prone to bleeding and healing funky

Don’t cut over vital organs they’re vital for a reason lets keep it that way

Take frequent breaks and check ins with your partner to see how theyre doing. As a dom you also have to know your sub well enough at this point to knowbwhere theyre limits are. Its easier to gauge how the play is going if you already know their signs or signals they need to stop.

Doms are alos obligated to make sure they don’t go to far. These limits need to be discussed in length and make sure its clear what is and is not to far.

As a final note as well. These are guidelines, it really comes down to what you both are confident in and what you know you can handle. I am a fan of going slow and ramping up. For example my first encounter with knife play i picked a spot i thought would be good to try hugged a pillow so i felt safer and we kept the energy very relaxing and low to see how i handled it.

As it turns out I’m very sensitive to knives (but not blunt for trauma? Who knows why) So doing that was very helpful for me and my partner cause on the flipside his tolerance is much better if he assumed my tolerance was like his tolerance and went to town on me we would have had a very bad time.

So what can you do with knifeplay? Why is it fun for otherkinity. I’m sure there’s plenty of people out there with darker kintypes, demons, fictionkin, werewolves, rabid animals that want to bite someones face off, suffocating vines, the concept of malintent or rage as a kintype.

Knifeplay is a nice mode of expression. Its all acted and quite useful. Personally since starting knifeplay my impulsive thoughts diminished pretty effectively about killing someone or hurting a person. Knifeplay gives you the option to see “what its like” and answer that burning what if question. Its a great way to play on fear kink and if you really wanna have fun cnc and drugging. All very dark kinks that in concept are terrifying but in play are pretty goofy.

I don’t know how many times i had to stop to laugh mid scene or cracked a joke that broke the serious vibe and we both enjoyed a good laugh. The importance is that is isnt legitimate. Its also very awkward at first when your still getting used to it. Your standing over someone with a little metal stick going “grrr im scary” its painfully human and very humbling. You learn a lot as a dom on how to play into believability without crossing any boundaries.

What could you do with knifeplay? A sacrifice and a sacrifical knife would be fun for demons, objectkin may find something they can relate to thats terrifying and use it on a partner, fictionkin can act out scenes safely and get a unique kin euphoria experience. For animals i see a knife as an extension of my jaws. If you dont want to use a knife i would suggest using your nails cutting them to tips with a nail clipper and taking a biotin supplement will make them thicker. You dont want the nails to be long, short and pointed is ideal. If not that, even cutting random jagged edges would work.

Some scenes that really stick out in my brain are stand downs. Wouldn’t recommend anyone not experienced to ever do that given. But it is a lot of fun. Since me and my partner are both switches there are times where we are both trying to out dom the other or one of us simply hits a limit and starts retaliating. Circling someone else with a metaphoric barred tooth in their hand is very fun espically when you have your own.

Were not idiots though not using the knife to use in a lunge. were aiming to find a way to disarm the other person. Often times for me my strategy is disarming myself on purpose because it means i can get much closer without the boundary of a blood circle for myself at least. It also means I’m challenging my partner to have at it cause i think i can disarm them with nothing but my hands.

Which is to say, that method only works out 50% of the time.

Another one is stalking. Feeling a blade on your back while your walking is unnerving, feeling it touch you when you werent fully expecting it yet can be quite the rush. Speaking of getting sticked lets talk injuries.

Now injuries are its own beast. Knifeplay is 100% going to be based around the injuries left from the knife. Whether thats nothing or something permanent you need to make that choice before hand and then be prepared for after. I would never suggest to go deeper than skin level. As medical attention for wounds is extremely necessary and reducing and eliminating as many possibilities for infection is extremely important with knifeplay. Keep the knife clean and sanatized, wash it after sessions, have gauz, bandaids, and rubbing alcohol at your disposal, wrapping also wouldnt hurt.

Again first aid knowledge is necessary for this kink. I would say straight up don’t do it unless you know first aid.

On another tangent. I’d say knifeplay’s intensity can carry lots of different flavors of “oh god oh fuck” from stalking, a horror slasher, kidnapping, fighting for your life, total submission, cnc, sedation. When it comes to inciting fear knifeplay is an easy go to. A very scary concept that has the very real potential for legtitmate injury.

A favorite tease my boyfriend likes to do is just point out knives from horror movies when were out and about. Terrifying, charming, really portrays clear imagery. Simple and elegant it also gets him excited cause he loves horror movies as its a win win.

Overall great kink has a large learning curve but one of my favorites now. Very fitting for a rabid or feral vibe.

Ahhh me too!! Recently I've been more he/they since I've been working out and gettin' buff to appear more androgynous. I still use she/they of course but I am more comfortable as genderfluid/nonbinary! I love the expression of gender in fanfiction and having headcanons of characters I love!~! Me and our lovely Vil are both Aries!!

I think gender should be explored of course!! I also agree that gender is fucked and its something you cant lock into place since its a societal creation. Its a spectrum and can be changed. To me at least!! But of course I never want to offend anyone with my writing. It would break my heart if someone took what I wrote or said and saw it as a transphobic piece of media.

Which is also why I have yet to write Trans!Readers and Male!Readers because of things that have been said to me in the past. Ahhhh,, I just want everyone to read what I write and enjoy it. Fanfiction is for everyone!!

ive explored this in some rough doodles b4 on this account but My boy is actually a faulty result of a corrupted super soldier mass production program. sometime somewhere in the timeline man made mass produced super soldiers from self replicating / sustainable tech to fight the demons (which is a war they eventually lost) like useless sythensized bodies to throw at people but now that society has collapsed the AI doesnt know what else to do BUT keep salvaging the parts of broken crushed soldiers and re-growing new ones to fight a war that no longer exists. never ending cycle. They patrol major parts of Tokyo that most people avoid because literally no one knows how to fucking kill these things they have evolved somehow into behemoths of things that even lesser demons fear at this point cuz you kill them, 3 more are behind, and the one you killed is gonna be harvested for parts. Theyre not meant to have souls minds reasoning just fight enemies and keep tokyo safe. Literal walking beefcakes

Protag was made from a faulty glitch in that programming. Made of all the same material..synthetic body from salvaged parts only he HAS a soul, an identity--one of a boy who died in Tokyo while the bombs fell. Suddenly hes in this strange new body and hes in a world thats completely alien to him after everyone he might have known to be dead. about 30 years have passed since that day the war was lost (to mirror smt1 and 2′s favoritism to 30) and the AI that birthed him ALSO has an imprint of sentience and awareness, and wants to travel with you to recover and fix their glitched data because its an AI it doesnt know what else to do with itself. So it relocates its motherchip into your womb hole (something the other soldiers arent meant to have) like a liquid computer hidden in your funky synthensized flesh and you guys are gonna find out whats happened to humanity and the world from there...seek answers...like why out of everyone anyone you are the one who gets reborn if youre even reborn you could have just been the random result of AI uploading an identity chosen from some old Japan citizen databank w/e i dont have everything fleshed out (excuse pun) but these are the IDEASSSS you knowwww

ig(??) i do still for the most part think she's sapphic/has a preference for girls, and b/c of a friend my main thing was flowerin. i do like them v much and think abt them, they're cute. BUT a different friend of mine ships fukaflower and that's also really grown on me. BUT b/c of the internet and other mutuals too i've seen pikase and that's cute as hell too. so my mind somehow condensed that into the THREE OF EM (flower, fukase, piko) but i dont even know what tf i'd call that; its not entirely romantic but also not entirely platonic, something is going on and its made infinitely more complicated w/ how they all interact differently depending on what fucking timeline story thing we're in. and again flower & rin is also cute and flower has other cute ships too and AJKSDKJKJKJ 😭

i'll just say tho that the good thing about having several different story things where different things happen is i can do whatever i want and everyone can b happy. the bad thing is i end up overthinking it and also i have a tendency to not give the characters in my stories happy endings

My favorite part about their design

well for one i like how she has so many designs i think its funny lmaoo

v3 and v4 are my faves sooo... i do like the dress & longer hair of v3 actually, i feel its more like, actual flower-like so it fits (and maybe im a bit based b/c that's the design she had when i first vaguely knew abt her). but v4 is iconic, undoubtedly. its the first design that pops into my head when people say flower. i really like how its more ourple since her v3 is more like... black? hksjghkj. i like her striped armwarmer thing its quite funky. solid designs but theyre hard asf to draw imma be real 😭 i can never get them quite right

ALSO i know people dont like ci b/c she doesn't look like flower, but funnily enough i do kinda like that. the sorta uncanny valleyness, b/c u know its supposed to be flower and it vaguely does have some resemblance but its also not and something feels wrong. again though that might just be me b/c of how i twist that for narrative purposes and i have a lot of fun w/ angst shit regarding ciflower but sjkjdhjkshkjhakjhg

OMG HI OKAY SO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ive actually had them in my head since 2019/20 (roughly when my periodic table sp/in started, actually) but ive only really gotten the Skills in character writing and designing and stuff (+ the general motivation) to make them more Real during this year

the atoms live on earth among all other earth things where they kinda just . Appeared one day . and they’re basically immortal lolz

they look mostly humanoid with some extra Strange Features, like actinides having spiral pupils or alkali metals being very catlike [ideally all different families have some trait that’s specific to them i just havent figured all of it out yet oops]

speaking of element families ! they work as, well, families—all elements that are part of the same group are basically siblings

[^ these are the different families (differentiated by color), just in case]

they have the properties of their physical state at room temperature . In simpler words that means gases can float, liquids are uhhh liquidy, solids have more physical strength etc etc

and yes they also have funky properties specific to what element they are !! tungsten can break walls like it’s no big deal, platinum has absolutely 0 problem with most acids, mercury somehow always knows the exact temperature, and Yes some of them explode things and catch fire

this also includes toxic elements having part of the symptoms they cause ! lead is almost blind, mercury has memory problems, selenium is always tired, radium can literally remove her jaw at will … You get it

this is the worst for radioactive atoms specifically . disjointed limbs, sickness, theyre kinda fucked up

I have some refs that ill post on here sometime + ones i want to do . this is gonna be long considering 118 is A Lot !but oh well . You can do anything you set your heart to kids

tbh this is just me wanting to ramble about my dumb mini aus that i come up with but never actually do anything with so uhhh heres some ideas for this/explanations

kris:

i made them a rainwing!!! theres a few reasons but lemme just keep it brief -rainwings are very “othered” and kris being a human really fits that -theyre also very isolated so ofc nobody really would know how to actually raise a rainwing, for example the stuff like how they actually change color by using the sun and shit -they LITERALLY CHANGE COLOR WHEN THEY GO INTO THE DARK WORLD I MEAN COME ON

anyways some hcsss!!!

kris totally would change their scales to blend in with their family and seem more “sandwing” (yep i made the dreemurrs sandwings), specifically to have the same colors as asriel. in the og kris drawing i realized that this wasnt really showing my idea of how they normally would look so i added in a doodle of the whole family!!

i inverted the colors mostly so you could tell the difference plus gave them some pops of green n yellow to help them stand out, but in reality most of the time they just look like a smaller asriel

theyve probably picked up the habit of trying to raise their tail threateningly but that doesnt really work because. its a sandwing thing they dont have venom. OR AT LEAST THE NORMAL KIND- no we are not getting into the whole rainwing venom thing

kris probably doesnt know about rainwing venom, since even in deltarune the people there are super uneducated about humans, and in wof everyone is even LESS educated about rainwings (at least if this is set post darkstalker), so nobody really knows.

they probably camoflauge to prank people. like you just feel someone watching you at 4am and you turn around and boom its kris

theyve probably gotten good at stopping their scales from changing since theyre constantly trying to blend in with their family, so they mostly stay light pink like asriel. after hanging out with susie a bit tho they probably get more confident and try out blue and pink and it looks great i love them. and also extreme emotions can make them change, but its not voluntary and they dont usually notice until someone points it out.

theyre also probably very dull in color before they really embrace their identity. they like to stick with their family and blend in as much as possible, but rainwings sort of need to sleep outside and take naps often to have bright colors. as soon as kris realizes that others dont take those naps or feel tired a lot they try to stop and so their colors kinda suffer. to other rainwings they might even look a bit sickly.

hanging out with susie probably gives them the confidence boost they need to actually be ‘healthy’ and their colors get a lot brighter and they stop sleeping in class so much because THEYRE ACTUALLY GETTING THE REST THEY NEED WOOO GOOD FOR YOU KRIS GOOD FOR YOU

kris is also probably very uncomfortable with other rainwings because they cant really relate to them at all and it makes them feel somehow both less rainwing AND less sandwing than anything and so they avoid them at all costs.

ive probably thought the most about this so yeahhhhhh dont expect this much for the others

susie was probably the easiest tribe to decide on besides kris, so heres why -to be honest theres not much reason shes buff -and big -and thats very mudwing of her -also the only way she could be purple outside of fudging the mudwing rules is by making her a rainwing which kris has covered, silkwing which ralsei has, or a really fucking weird skywing which didnt really fit her vibe

theres actually not much ive thought about with her, but she probably gets a lot of weird looks as the only mudwing in town, which probably also fuels people being scared of her. she looks kinda funky and thats because i dont care about the rules but it also probably doesnt help like mudwings are very brown im just fudging the rules all over the place here she probably likes mud and kris is the only one who also likes it so they just fuckin roll in it sometimes idk wherre this thought came from but its here now i considered giving her no tail/ a very stubby tail because i think its funny but fuck it shes just got a normal tail sorry besties no short tail susie for u

hey guys look its the baby. hes a silkwing -it made it really easy to justify his frankly kinda weird color palette without making him a rainwing. -now that i think about it i proably couldve made him a leafwing -but that seems kinda stupid and i like him being small bug man -silkwings are sort of slightly enslaved in canon which kinda fits his weird “we must serve the lighteners” bullshit

with noelle i kick canon to the curb because fuck that shit i can make her a hybrid that sounds fun. she’s ice/sand, theres no deep reason here i just wanted to be able to make her brown while also having the ice stuff

her mom is an icewing and her dad is a sandwing or ice/sand hybrid like her, since she doesnt have much thats actually very sandwing about her other than her coloring. if she was blue and you got rid of the back frills she’d be just a normal icewing.

icewings are very status-orientated so her mom puts a lot of pressure on her to be a good role model even this far away from icewing rankings. carol probably only moved out of the ice kingdom because she wanted rudy to be happy and the ice is super uncomfy for sandwings, so she’s a bit miserable in the town with it being so warm. she probably sleeps in a seperate room, not for like weird marriage reasons but because she wanted to freeze it. she’s probably got some lingering racism, and also, hybrids are VERY looked down on by icewings traditionally, so she puts a ton of pressure on noelle to be the best representation of what they can be.

noelle believes she has to be as “icewing” as possible, and since the only full icewing she knows is carol, she’s the icon of what noelle is supposed to be. so she’s picked up a lot of her moms bad habits. for example, she’s really bad at talking about her own feelings or being emotionally in general, since carol always hides how she feels. she can also tend to make rude comments about other tribes, but she apologizes immediately whenever she catches herself.

dess was very much NOT icewing and her mom sort of hated it. she was brash and loud, probably not very orderly and didnt care too much about rules or status, and picked up firebreath from her dads side (if hes a hybrid too, then it skipped a generation). very not icewing of her. noelle loves the break in order, and so she’s sort of split half and half between who she thinks she has to be and what she thinks she wants to be, and isnt quite sure what she ACTUALLY wants or has to be between all the outside forces

also she blushes purple. red sandwing blood + blue icewing blood = fuck you shes purple now. i think its cute. purple bloosh for a purple girl *insert susie*

actually, the most sandwing thing about noelle is probably that she doesnt mind heat. she actually might just love it as much as the cold. she just hates the middle bits. either freeze her alive or burn her in hell no INBETWEEN DAMNIT

berdly berdly berdly. in the end, i kinda like the idea of him better than the final design. hes a nightwing with probably a bit of skywing blood but no (alive) relatives around to confirm that with so he will definetly not admit it -he was going to be a skywing because hes a bird. it seemed fitting -but then i realized that i couldnt make him blue like that -so hes a nightwing with skywing descent -okk the hcs explain the rest of my reasoning better so ill stop now

berdly probably brags about being able to read minds/see the future a lot because people in hometown dont know enough about nightwings to counter. in reality, berdly isnt a 3 moons dragon. or a 2 moons. or a 1 moon. hes just a normal dragon.

berdly’s ego probably comes from a lot of the “nightwings are perfect” bullshit he hears. i dont think his parents are very present for him, they just wanted to get out of the night kingdom because of the shame and brought him with them.

he doesnt really want to lie about having powers, but hes in too deep now. the only ones who know are noelle (he confided in), kris (who saw it while they were lurking because they do that), and susie (who figured it out by threatening him with no actual intent and saw him being scared, and putting 2 and 2 together herself). and his parents but they dont count.

catti is also probably close to figuring it out because she knows a lot more about nightwing powers because of her research into these sorts of things, and the fact that he doesnt have a teardrop scale.

berdly can fly faster than a lot of dragons in the town because of his skywing descent, but he doesnt fly a lot because he wants to hide it as might as possible.

i just fucking hate when people who are of marginalised groups that these youtubers, streamers, etc often defend in the most simple way aren't used to seeing people be okay with them and instead of watching videos by and supporting people who share the same marginalised experience, they want some kind of approval and the comfort of a privileged person saying “i think people like you should not be killed merely for your divergence from the established norm” and so fiercely defend them and weep all over anyone who doesnt think this is a good step toward actual support for marginalised people.

and i hate when people act like it takes a huge amount of effort or education to know what the right thing to say is, or know what nonbinary people are or know that lgbtq charities exist or say Cops Aren’t The Greatest and not fear social exclusion for being too much of a Crazy Hardcore Liberal. people can profit off of this and exploit the way people have become accustomed to others being so outwardly hateful and garner an audience theyre comfortable performing for and catering to, even if they dont feel that way in their every day life.

i hate how clearly disingenuous and forced it is when they try to appear radically inclusive and yet people are longing so strongly for acceptance that they are just okay with it and think it’s the greatest thing.

Do you have any tips for drawing bodies from multiple angles?

WROTE A LOT SORRY its under a cut!

honestly i dont have the most practice with it since a good 70% of what i draw is characters wait up standing looking 3/4s left or right orz BUT some things that helped with the few interesting poses i draw once every fiscal quarter IS.....life drawing orz

specifically life drawing sessions where you do a bunch of quick gestural figures (like a 60 second timer each pose) at the beginning and then slowly increase the time for later poses, like 2 minutes, then five, where you slowly increase the amount of detail and rendering each pose, and then one or two long 10 minute ones where you go all out. i think that kinda structure helps a lot to 1) warm you up and get loosey goosey with ur lines and 2) get in the zone to think about how bodies work without overwhelming urself - like in the 1 minute sketches you could basically only get a weird stick figure, in the 2 minute ones maybe you might get a little more definition in the sillhouette, at the 5 minute poses you got some folds of the flesh implied with a few lines and a bit of hatching, and by the 10 minute ones ur really thinking about how the different parts of the body all interact because you already did some practice (the previous poses) if that makes sense?

ALAS we are in a world situation where cramming 40 people in a room to silently draw one naked person for three hours is not......happening (at least not where i live) so for the past couple years ive had to make do with online resources, which arent half bad! theyre not quite the same, for me at least (i think in person i can see more interesting angles) but they do the job! here's some I've used:

figure drawing and life drawing and especially gesture drawing is also something thats kinda tricky to learn if no one ever taught you (and honestly its tricky if someone DID teach you lol) so maybe someday i'll get around to trying to explain what ive learned myself if that could help someone

ive tried using 3d models but ive never foudn them that useful, probably for the same reason i prefer irl models to pictures (easier to see whats goin on) BUT sometimes it can help as a rough guideline if ur doing a weird angle youve never done before!!

SPEAKING of guidelines. guidelines are ur friend. guidelines r ur lifeblood. guidelines will always help even if u dont follow half of them they are SO helpful - I OFTEN find myself kinda skipping them, like you can see here in this drawing i havent erased the sketch from yet that i drew a circle and then a line for shoulders and gave up (probably impatient lol):

BUT guidelines can help so much~ when im drawing a full pose i'll usually have guidelines that really are no more than stick figures like basically like:

stick figures with dots for joints and maybe some rough lines here and there like it doesnt need to be nice or perfect since its just gonna get erased anyway~ it helps me keep track of how bones work hjfsdskjvfdfs

OH and artist mannequins.....like 3d models theyve also never done me any good like those wooden ones? I hate em theyre so stiff and i dunno what to do with them BUT.....okay...action figures? not bad....like maybe not so much with anatomy but if you have a doll or action figure with good articulation you can kinda use that to help out with funky poses sometimes!! like i have this one gundam and honestly....even though its a mecha with a giant mecha dong or whatevers going down there its like....not a horrible mannequin for poses jfksdlfjrfkehjklsd

WITH REGARDS TO foreshortening.......................................we are all on our own with that one orz LIKE i have tried every trick in the book, every funky tip and method and technique and none have worked for me so i just wing it jhkDmFJKDLS WELL actually having like a page of really sloppy loose stick figure sketches where you experiment with proportions helps a lot!! i do that with weird poses or angles, like dont worry about about how it looks HELL unfocus ur eyes. unfocus ur eyes. i do that all the time while drawing and its great it helps you see the big picture and the silhouette without focusing too much on one thing~

anyway yeah i dunno i guess a lot is just experimentation but hopefully some of these resources might be useful!!

SO i just finished wonder egg priority and i think that with confidence i can say it has been one of my favorite animes like... ever ?? and not even from hyperfixation or obsession over it just... its so fucking real yet so simple in a way that i havent rlly seen shown in any other shows you feel ??

but first i wanna talk about how sexy the art and animation is real quick... HOMIE ITS SO GOOD LIKE EVERYTHING ABOUT IT JUST... serotonin... the characters are all so unique and iconic and fun but not over the top in their designs yknow ??? they seem like regular every day girls but they stand out and theyre all sO CUTE !!!! also i love how the style is like this soft bubbly slice of life lookin stuff with bright happy colors and the most beautiful scenes you could find but they also have the SICKEST fight scenes complete with whimsical animal helpers and terrifying villains and crazy weapons unique to each character. and the animation. god DAMN shawty i am obsessed with everything in this show. i might make a post solely about the art later lol bc i wanna get into the other stuff.

so the themes in the show right ?? it starts just as this cute lil magical girl kinda deal but within the first episode we see that like.. oh damn... thats kinda heavy... tbh i was a little shocked and thought about stopping bc yknow bad mental health BUT i was so intrigued that i had to keep going and i am SO GLAD that i did. because this show just so beautifully discusses all these heavy topics in such an eloquent and artistically expressive way. and also like, , the juxtaposition of the charming childlike vibe with bright colors and 14 yr old girl protagonists against the dark themes of suicide and so much else,, i think is just perfect. bc a lot of heavy animes are more of the seinen genre and have some middle aged dude as a protag or make the entire color palette dim or offer little relief to the pain of these heavy themes right ?? but NO not wonder egg bitches B) because these problems arent just things that ppl face later in life or just problems that need to be talked about among adults or the edgy seinen watching squad,, these are REAL problems that face people of every age, gender etc and i think its awesome that wonder egg addresses that. some may cringe at the thought of their high schooler watching animes that discuss sexual harassment, suicide, abuse, self harm, eating disorders etc,, but in reality it is the most comforting thing i have ever come across and is basically jsut free anime therapy. because not only does wonder egg present these themes to the viewers as something real that happens to all kinds of people (making said people feel heard in a way that maybe they hadnt before), but it also makes sure to vanquish all of these forms of trauma. and the way the trauma is vanquished isnt always beautiful and it isnt always just magically gone with a poof. the struggles of overcoming or living with that sort of thing are shown in such a real and relatable way that addresses every hardship trauma survivors have to go through. and i just. god i cry bro.

oh m y GOD and the lgbtq+ rep in this show ?? like shawty... as soon as i saw episode one i was picking up on some gay/lesbian themes but then again im sapphic and project that a lot so i tend to see that sort of stuff like... everywhere... but NE WAYS... episode ten made me FUKCING CRY BRO LIke i cant believe there was a whole trans character with a whole trans pride hoodie like LKGHKDGH my heart is just so.. so fucking full thinking about him. bc like yeah i know there are trans characters in anime but i feel like theyre always very ambiguous about actually being trans or not or erased or portrayed as a harmful stereotype or theyre constantly misgendered and still refered to as their assigned gender at birth and i hate it. HOWEVEr... Kaoru.. *chefs kiss* it was so amazing to see a character straight up say “yeah im trans” in such a casual yet powerful way bc i personally have never seen that before. and i love love loved how he went into his backstory and talked to momoe about gender bc i think thats what she rlly needed and that it helped her find herself and it makes me so happy oh my god,, and the way they talked about it never seemed forced or like it was the focal point of his existence yknow ?? like yeah he existed to help momoe overcome some of her trauma but he also just existed to be HIM yknow ?? also... personally, i headcanon momoe as a trans girl even though i dont remember it being explicitly stated plus the school scenes of her and stuff would seem like they suggest otherwise ??but,,, SHAWTY THE AMOUNT OF SUBTEXT and her complicated relationship w gender is... something i feel like a cis girl would not go through so harshly yknow ?? with all of the questioning and feeling detached from femininity or feeling like ppl dont see her as an actual girl and only like her as a guy or for her masculine traits,,, but dont take my word on this bc i myself am a cis girl but that was just my take on it as someone in the lgbtq+ community trying to educate myself on the transgender community :) either way,, wonder eggs portrayal of momoe and kaoru and the way that momoe becomes so passionate about expressing herself the way she wants to as a girl is just... good lord im gonna cry its so perfect,,,.so ... i just love this show way too much. i also am honestly super lost about the relationship btwn acca and ura-acca ?? bc i was gonna mention ura-acca as a canonically gay guy bc when i was watching i interpreted ep 11 as him being in love with acca and being jealous of Azusa (bc i mean,, they lived together (i swear to god there was only one bed in that apartment) and had a daughter together and def loved each other and also when Frill said they were husbands and then when ura-acca said he wasnt attracted to azusa but he was def jealous of their relationship ??) but then i saw somewhere that theyre brothers ?? which would make sense ig since they look kinda similar and accas daughter called ura-acca “uncle”.. but at the same time its ANIME SO THEY ALL LOOK SIMILAR and referring to gay couples as siblings is an EXTREMELY common euphemism soooo... IM JUST LOST HERE... but yeah i tried doing research and found different things so i cant say anything for sure >:( however,,, if they are canonically a lil fruity for each other... when frill refered to acca as ura-accas husband i imploded dude you never hear that sort of wording in anime.. but if theyre related i am so sorry.

god this is so much longer than i planned it to be oops but i also love the theme about like.. relying on friends to help carry your weight but at the same time not becoming completely dependent on those friends and using their support to learn how to love yourself and rely on yourself yknow ?? bc that is exactly what healthy friendships look like. bc i think ai sort of had a codependency thing goin on with koito maybe ?? but now she has a whole squad of funky friends that are so so different but all struggle with different kinds of trauma and although they fight over it, they always get through it with each other together. and they push each other no matter what to be the best versions of themselves and they teach other that getting hurt is okay because theyre always gonna be there to pick up the pieces no matter what happens. they can give each other space when they need and adapt to meet each others needs but theyre always able to balance it out with their own needs and thats such a beautiful thing in friendships especially at their age like damn i wish i had that maturity when i was 14 but no all i had was depression. another thing is that through these friendships you get to see all the different sides of each girl; you get to see them being strong or a shining light to their friends when theyre hurting but you also get to see them being hurt and weak and allowing themselves to be on the receiving end of the comfort. their friendships allows them to have weaknesses but it also allows them to highlight their strengths and thrive off of each others. I LOVE FRIENDSHIP DUDE

next i wanna briefly mention some of the themes connected to suicide that ive noticed. a big one is the survivors guilt that ai feels once koito is dead. several times she screams that she wishes she couldve gone with koito and she dreams of a “perfect world” where they committed a double suicide. one of the main reasons for her troubles is that she blames herself for koitos death and feels like it should be her thats dead... but at the same time she feels like too much of a coward to do anything now that koito is gone. she just has all these complex and contradicting feelings that wear away at her in ways that ppl that havent gone through the suicide of a loved one could never imagine. a lot of the times when things like this are portrayed in media i feel like its more in a way thats meant to guilt trip those that have taken their own lives and paint suicide as this selfish sin thats unforgivable but... not only does wonder egg reject that idea and instead portray it as a heartbreaking tragedy with,,, so so many terrible reasons, but it focuses on the feelings of ai separate from koito without blaming her in any way. not once did i feel like the show antagonized koito or that ai blamed koito for doing any of this, but they simply mourned her loss and touched on ais reaction towards the event but separate from koito herself if that makes sense. and i think that discussing survivors guilt without painting koito as the bad guy is something so beautifully done in wonder egg that can really resonate with those that have lost a loved one to suicide and have struggled with these same things.

okay i think this is the last thing ill mention,,, but HOMIE THE PARALLEL UNIVERSE BIT AT THE END. I AM. OBSESSED. i am such a whore for anything about the multiverse okay n e ways...,, not only did this make a super epic trippy ending of season one and add a little bit more magical girl whimsy to the show,, but it had such a powerful message. from the perspective of og ai,, finding out that you killed yourself in another world is... i mean its definitely not a surprise but at the same time it rlly makes you think how close og ai herself couldve been to that point and what decisions led her out of that dark place in her life. if i were in her shoes i would be terrified and id cry bc the thought of going back to such a dark place and actually going through with something like that is my worst fear and probably something that ai fears too. but at the same time,,, think from the perspective of ai two !!! like yeah its true that theres this awful terrible version of ai that dies but theres also a whole version of ai that is a superhero magical girl fighting off monsters to save countless ppls lives !! and she has a badass lizard and a gang of awesome friends !!! at first i was worried that ai two would be jealous of og ai and compare herself to her and feel inferior but like.. THEYRE LITERALLY THE SAME PERSON AND CAPABLE OF THE SAME THINGS !!! and ai two realized that !! just within the span of one episode, she went from the version of ai who took her life,, to the version of ai jumping in front of a friend to take a bullet for them and save their life. and that just inspired THE SHIT OUT OF ME. i think that ai was sent another version of herself to sort of beat her own worst enemy yknow ?? those doubts and fears that shes no good or that shes that same bystander from episode one and that she hasnt changed at all. but getting to interact with her parallel self and see her grow was just what she needed to realize that while yeah sometimes the worst thing can happen and things can be terrible but on the other hand sometimes the most wonderful thing imaginable can happen because she has the power to do either.

so im gonna go ahead and stop rambling bc i got all my thoughts out that i wanted to for this post :D but yeah lol i might make another if i feel like it sometime. long story short: this show is perfect and it is going on my favorite of all times.
