The day of the dinner came around quickly and you were oddly nervous. It had been a long time since you’d dated anyone, so long ago that you often wondered if you’d ever get the chance again. Dating and relationships seemed like something your future would never hold at this point, and somewhere along the line you’d become okay with that…

Still, you could faintly remember the nervous buzz a first date bought and that’s what you were feeling right now as you applied your mascara in the mirror. These nerves were something else entirely though, of course. You were going to discuss sex. You were going to try and convince this man to make a movie with you. It was a pretty terrifying thought. You’d grown confident over the years, but this was a totally brand new situation.

Irene had text you the location of the restaurant this morning, Seokjin in charge of the reservation, and had warned you to dress fancy. This place was no Cheesecake Factory google soon informed you. You hadn’t worn a dress in months, and that had only come about because you were forced to attend the AIA’s; a tacky award ceremony filled with mostly vulture like men hiding behind a professional title. You were beginning to realise your distaste for the industry had always been there, in the back of your head, it was only lately that it had made itself louder…

You took an Uber there, hardly flashy but that had never been you, so why change now? You would’ve driven yourself but you’d probably need a glass (read: bottle) of wine during dinner just for some Dutch courage, even if it was a bad idea. You attempted sophistication when you made your way to the reception area, beginning to regret the size of your heels halfway there, and relayed Seokjin’s surname to the host, clutching your purse uneasily. What if he wasn’t here? What if he wasn’t coming at all? They were dumb fears but they were still there. However, they soon disappeared when the host smiled and nodded, calling a female colleague over to lead you to your table. You didn’t miss the way his eyes glazed over you a little longer than they should though, the faint look of recognition on his features. He was wondering how he knew you. It no longer fazed you, you got that surprisingly a lot. It was just one of those things. This man had watched you get fucked…and maybe he’d watch you get fucked by Seokjin soon enough…

Your table was in another room, cut off from the busier main area. It held a few tables but tonight it was just Seokjin and you. He sat waiting for you at the furthest table and he stood once you entered. Your waiter turned to leave, telling you to ring the bell when you were ready to order and you thanked her, Seokjin joining you. And then you were alone.

You stood in the entrance way like someone lost. You had not expected this to be so intimate. You had expected other customers eating around you, not just you and he alone. Light music played from the speakers, the only thing filling the silence until Seokjin smiled, stepping forward, around the table to greet you. “Good Evening.”

“Evening.” You found yourself easing immediately, smiling back. It was hard not to upon hearing his voice. It was so gentle, so polite. The complete opposite of his on camera persona. The filth that flew from his mouth was unholy. Here, he looked like every mothers’ dream son in law.

There were a few details you’d forgotten to offer up regarding Seokjin, which seemed absurd because it was the first thing anyone noticed. He was ridiculously handsome. Like out of this world handsome. Drop dead gorgeous most would say. Enough to make any woman or man weak at the knees while in his presence. Or maybe that was just you right now. You walked forward, desperate to sit down.

“Oh, let me hang up your coat,” Seokjin offered, and you stopped, lowering the black textile off your bare shoulders. This room was comfortably warm, now all you had to worry about was breaking out into a sweat. He handled the garment with care, attaching it to one of the bronze hooks beside the entrance door while you took a seat, tucking yourself in discreetly.

You definitely didn’t have to worry about over dressing tonight. Seokjin was in a black two piece suit, the jacket sinfully figure hugging, stretched over his broad shoulders, the dress shirt underneath crisp and white, loose at the neck. His hair was parted to the side, his usual style, black locks sleek. He was a distinguished man. Somehow soft yet angular. It just depended what way the light caught him, and age had been kind to him. He wasn’t much older than you, perhaps five years or so, but he didn’t look a day past 25.

The strong arch of his eyebrows almost made you feel intimidated as he made his way back to the table and sat in front of you, so much so, you had to look away from his gaze, spotting a glass of iced mineral water already waiting for you. You picked it up and sipped, wetting your dry throat.

“Sorry, I didn’t know what you drunk else I would have ordered something a little stronger to start off with,” he apologised with another smile.

“That’s okay,” you reassured.

“Here, take the drinks menu. There’s plenty to choose from.”

“Thanks.” You took it from him, catching his eyes as you did so and he chuckled.

“Sorry, I’m acting weird. I’m nervous.” Your eyes widened a little in surprise. He was nervous? Not going to lie, that made you feel a lot better. “It’s really nice to meet you.” He continued, laughing louder this time. “I’m honestly pretty awestruck.”

You nearly snorted. You were the only one allowed to be awestruck, surely? You shooed him away with a hand. “Please. Shouldn’t I be the one lost for words? The man, the legend.”

“That’s just nonsense.” You were both laughing now, embarrassing one another. The apples of his cheeks were tinged pink, a reaction you hadn’t been expecting from a man like him, and you lifted your hand up to your face just to check how hot you were, wondering if you were blushing too.

“No, honestly. I’m a fan of your work,” he told you earnestly. You must have looked unconvinced because he chuckled again. “Don’t look so dubious. Can’t take a compliment!?”

“Actually, that’s never been a strong point of mine,” you admitted. Plus, it seemed pretty crazy that The Seokjin Kim was a fan of what you made. You were polar opposites. Wasn’t your stuff way too tame for him?

“So, do you have any questions?” You asked, puzzling how you should start this discussion, wanting to divert the attention from you. This was all new to you, and you were trying to fight through your awkwardness.

He smiled. “Let’s order first. Get to know one another a little.” You watched him pick up the main menu that laid next to him. “I want you to be comfortable. I don’t want you to think of this as a business deal, more so, hm…” He paused to search for the right words, smile turning into a grin when they came to him, “an agreement between friends.”

You dipped your head, smiling coyly. It was hard not to agree with that.

“Now, any thoughts on that drink?” He prompted.

You spent half the dinner getting to know one another, nerves slowly depleting as you laughed and joked. Despite hearing all these good thing about Seokjin, nothing could prepare you for how truly well-spoken and well-mannered he was. He was charming but definitely not with intent. He was easy to be around, a warming presence. You spoke about mindless things really, hobbies, favourite tv shows, books you were currently reading. If anyone could see you, they’d think you were on a first date. In reality you were here to discuss the deal of a lifetime.

You were halfway through the main course when Seokjin brought it up again, intrigued and impressed that you were determined to take the reins with this project. You had made sure his agency was aware of that. How much work would go into the discussing and creating of this movie. How close you would work together, and how you were willing to do just about anything. You had chosen Seokjin because of this. He was known in the scene for being extremely professional and respectful. To both the actresses and staff, and you had kept that all in mind, and on top of that, he had been in this industry for over a decade. He knew how things worked, and despite not knowing him personally, there was a trust there when it came to that. You looked up to him.

You thought about telling him all this, but it just seemed all too official. You were embarrassed. Would he think that you were being over the top? Over stepping boundaries? However despite you reluctance to open up, he seemed more than excited about this offer, which surprised you. In the greatest of honesty, you hadn’t even expected to get this far, predicting an email where his agency declined the offer, not that of a dinner invitation with the man himself.

“I have to say though, I’m surprised it’s me you want,” he admitted almost, what was that…bashfully?

You watched him over the rim of your wine glass, taking a sip before you replied. He hadn’t consumed any alcohol tonight, driving here himself, so you were actually still on your first and only drink, in fear of overdoing it and making a fool of yourself. You didn’t drink often so you were a bit of a lightweight.

“You were the only choice.”

You could hear your heart beating against your ribcage, but thought what the hell? Why were you so scared to let him know how much you wanted him to be your co-star? He was perfect for the job and you knew you’d be great together. You told him just as much.

“Well,” he gobsmacked, chuckling lowly. “I’m truly speechless right now. Incredibly flattered, but speechless.”

You dropped your head. “I know I’m not what you’re used to but this is my chance for some change. I truly want this, and it would be just as much your project as it is mine,” you reassured. You’d gladly let him take charge. You had so much to learn from him.

He smiled your way, and you took a shaky breath, needing to know his answer. “So what do you say?”

He paused, smile widening. “I say it sounds fun. I’m in.”

“Really?” You almost gasped, too excited to hide your reaction. Relief flooded over you.

“I think it would be great. Honestly, shooting anything with you would be an honour. You never know,” he laughed, “maybe it’s time I had a shakeup too. I can pull off softcore, right?”

You burst out laughing, realising how unflattering it might look at the last second and shot your hand up to your mouth in a bid to stop yourself, but he laughed freely, not caring what you thought. He had a cute laugh, almost dorky, despite his untouchable appearance.

“You could pull off anything.”

“So could you,” he told you, turning serious, the genuineness in his voice making you shift in your seat awkwardly. “Trust me, I don’t have some crazy expectations when it comes to the women I work with. I think you’re amazing and I would be honoured to work with you. I’m honoured that you thought of me, and…” He trailed off, hesitating. “Actually, I think I should let you know something…”

You raised your eyebrows, curious, and unable to guess what he wanted to disclose. You waited patiently.

“I’m going to be retiring soon.”

Your jaw dropped. “Y-You’re what?” That you had not been expecting.

Seokjin was the it man in porn. You could never imagine him leaving the industry. Men often had it easier like that. Not that they didn’t have struggles, not that you didn’t hear stories, but when it came to longevity, it was easy being a man in porn. Women had a sell by date. In fact, at 27 you were probably near pushing it yourself. Only a certain few kept their fame for decades, and then they were boxed in, stuck doing the same type of movie over and over. The thought made you suddenly bitter. You didn’t want to be boxed in.

“It’s my time. I’ve been here far too long,” he shrugged. Mood dropping, you looked across at him sadly. You felt funny, couldn’t put your finger on it. “But can you keep it quiet?” He asked. “It’s something I’ve been discussing with my agency. I don’t know when it’ll happen yet, but I thought you should know.”

You nodded, feeling a little wooden from the shock, but you quickly forced yourself to smile. “Secret’s safe with me. Honest.” He didn’t even have to tell you, but you appreciated it. Didn’t really understand why he had in the first place.

“Secret,” he repeated, amused. “It’s funny, right? Usually something like this would benefit the both of us, help sustain our careers, but I’m calling time and you’re,” he paused, watching you carefully as he continued. “I guess you want a change in direction?”

A Change in direction? Did you want that? You didn’t know what you wanted. In a way you were lost, not bored. He was still watching you, as if searching for some kind of reaction. Some kind of answer.

“Fucking me will change everything, you know,” he told you finally with a tilt of his head. “But I think that’s what you want, right?”

Change. You think that sounded better. One word. One feeling.

[BSTS] Sinju June Bride 4* Card Story

(note: Oichi is the heroine/audience in the show. Shinju references his white day role, you can read my tl of that card here !)

chapter 1 -in street-

shinju: Heyo Saki-chan~ Are you headed to Starless?

saki: Oh hello. Are you going there too?

shinju: Yep! Let's walk together.

shinju: ~~♪

saki: You look happy today, did something good happen?

shinju: Hm, do I seem that way?

saki: Yeah, since you were happily humming to yourself.

shinju: Uwah, I started doing that unconsciously... I was thinking about our next performance and started looking forward to it. Truth is, my role this time is like a chance for revenge to me. Wait, calling it 'revenge' might be exaggerating. Hmm~ Oh it's like having another attempt!

saki: Another attempt at what?

shinju: I'm playing the role of Toyotomi Hideyoshi. For the longest time he's been in love with Oichi, Nobunaga's sister. And, she's his first love!

However, since their social standings are completely different, of course there's no way he could confess. He helps Oichi escape the castle when the fighting between Nobunaga and Azai Nagamasa heats up. And despite having picked up a comb that she accidentally dropped, Hideyoshi doesn't have the courage to return it to her in person, and instead holds onto it.

It's actually a comb that Oichi received from her husband Nagamasa, and it holds memories of him. Since Nagamasa is Hideyoshi's rival in love, normally one wouldn't want to keep an item like that, right? But since it was a comb Oichi had used, Hideyoshi treasured it greatly and kept it.

He must've deeply loved Oichi don’t you think? Maybe even calling it adoration would be more accurate. So, when I thought of it like that, I realised Hideyoshi is similar to Vladimir.

saki: That's the role you played in Hatsukoi, isn't it?

shinju: Yeah! Vladimir was also in love to the point of adoration. So, I'll get my revenge with this second attempt! During Hatsukoi, even after asking the rest of my team about their first loves I still didn't end up understanding it properly in the end.

However this time, I WILL! I'm going to make the role of Hideyoshi my own and stand on stage. I want to show you that I've grown as an actor, so please look forward to it!

chapter 2 -in restaurant area-

saki: (Hm? Is that Shinju-san over there? I wonder what he's doing standing there by himself.)

shinju: .........

saki: Is something the matter?

shinju: WAH...!? You spooked me~~! It was just you then Saki-chan...!

saki: I'm sorry for startling you! I was curious what you're doing here.

shinju: Don't worry bout it, sorry for being loud. I was just spacing out. Ah, not because I'm worried about anything though! I was just feeling a little lonely. I mean, the closing show is already here, yeah? I can only play Hideyoshi for a little longer, when I realised that I got kinda sad. It must be because each time I play Hideyoshi it feels like I do well!

saki: I think that too. Your Hideyoshi is wonderful.

shinju: Heheh, I'm happy to hear you say so. (pouting) But I can only be him for one more show~ I want to understand Hideyoshi's feelings just a little more...! Saki-chan, could you watch me practice for a bit?

saki: Right now? Sure.

shinju: Yay! Then…

saki: U-um, that just now... I don't remember there being a scene like that...

shinju: Cause there isn't, I made it up myself! In the proper show, it ends without Hideyoshi returning the comb. But I thought, if my Hideyoshi were to return it to Oichi, would he confess like this? ...What did you think? Did his confession reach her heart?

Prompt: (light ns/fw maybe) Hello Lancer-senpai! I really adore your writing, especially for BSTS, so I wanted to request an one shot with Sinju! The scenario is; the two of you have dated for a bit and now Sinju is feeling it is time to go all the way, maybe (the s/o ofc really wants it too!)? It can be crack, fluff or NS/FW I just want to see what you come up with because I love what you do! I hope this isn't too vague :'D

A/N: Your request is not vague at all! I had so much fun writing this request. So, I decided to make it comical and include the Starless members in the start. I am SO sorry that reader enters much later on, but I couldn’t stop writing the first “half”. 😂

Sinju shifted back onto the park bench, but his eyes remained fix on the shimmering water in front of him. He paid no heed to the people walking by nor to the conversation of the couple sitting next to him.

'What should I do?' The young boy kept asking himself again and again. 'We have been dating for a while, but..'

Shaking his head vigorously, he sighed, "Maybe I should ask someone for help."

He tightened his grip on the white paper cup in his left hand and stood up. Taking one last sip of his vanilla latte, he tossed the cup into the trash can and headed towards Starless.

"Hey, Rindou?" Sinju couldn't think of anyone better to ask for help than his trusted leader.

"What's wrong, Sinju?" Rindou gave him a warm smile, "Did something happen?"

"Do you have a few minutes? I need your advice on something."

The older male nodded and motioned his teammate to sit on the chair across him. Though he trusted his team leader, the young boy was nervous to talk openly about such a sensitive subject.

"So, I have a girlfriend, and we have been dating for a while now. Um...I-I have been thinking about...um, taking things one s-step further." Sinju shyly glanced at Rindou while drawing circles on the table in front of him. "I have n-no experience, so how do I go about it?"

Rindou tilted his head slightly, "Go about what?"

"You know." Sinju hoped that his team leader would catch on but seeing Rindou clueless, he had no choice but to say it, "How do I k-know that she'll be okay with me getting close to her? And...how do I properly m-make lo-love?"

The green-haired man's face turned bright red as he bit the corner of his lower lip. "U-uh...w-well...S-Sinju, I am not s-sure how to answer that..."

The usually cheerful boy lowered his eyes and mumbled, "I a-am sorry."

"Please don't apologize," Rindou spoke in a timid voice, "It's difficult for me to answer such a question, but...you could try asking the others?"

Sinju nodded, not wanting the moment to get any more awkward, "I will do that. Sorry again."

"Please don't apologize. I'm sorry for not being able to help."

Sinju smiled and thanked Rindou again before quickly walking out of the restaurant area. He stopped near the rehearsal room and placed his hand on his chest, drawing in deep breaths.

'Who do I ask now? Menou?'

The orange-haired man's expressionless face appeared in his mind, causing his eyes to widen.

'Maybe not him. Yakou?'

The memories of his trainee group flooded his head - his excitement, the company excusing him, his decision to leave without telling his group, his fight with Yakou, and his friend's attempt to overthrow Rindou.

He let out a heavy sigh and mumbled under his breath, "No way, I can ask him. Then, what about Ma-"

Before he could say the singer's name, a vivid image of a hole in a wall flashed in his mind. A chill ran down his spine, "I don't want to die yet."

"Why are you standing here talking to yourself?" A gruff voice called out behind him, causing the young boy to jump.

"K-Kokuyou, s-sorry." Sinju nervously tugged at his jacket's sleeve, "Say, can I ask you something?"

The taller man looked at his questioningly but waited for him to continue.

"U-Uh, well, I-I..."

"Stop stuttering and say whatever the hell you want to say!"

Sinju raised his hands in defense and shook his head, "Nothing! Sorry!"

With those words, he ran down the hall while Kokuyou stared at his back, confused. "What's his problem?"

Sinju ran out to the back alley and leaned his back against one of the walls, catching his breath. While waiting for his racing heart to calm down, he thought about who else he could ask.

'Akira might know, but what if he tells the other cast members about this? They won't let me live it down. Taiga may find this topic awkward. Sin...' Sinju paused and thought of the conversation he had with Sin a few days ago.

"Hi, Sin! How are you?"

"The waves sway to the wind's command even if they sought freedom."

Sinju tilted his head to the left and blinked, "What does that mean?"

Sin gave a smile and added a spoonful of tea leaves to a light blue teapot, "The moon may light the darkness, but a single cloud possesses the power to engulf the light."

The young boy felt blood rushing to his brain as he tried his hardest to decipher the poetic male's words.

"How does Team W understand him?" Sinju blinked away a few tears trying to escape his eyes. He wiped his eyes with the back of his hands, "Maybe I could try asking Takami later."

"It's rare seeing you in the back alley."

"H-Hey, Sotetsu." Sinju watched as the tall man sat down on one of the steps and took out a pack of cigarettes.

"Did you join the dark side and start smoking?" He chuckled and lit one of the cigarettes before taking a long puff.

"N-No." Sinju followed the smoke lazily and sighed, "If I ask you a question, will you charge me for it?"

Sotetsu started laughing, "You know me too well." He carefully analyzed Sinju's reaction before speaking again, "What's your question?"

"I can't pay you anything right now." He lowered his gaze, kicking a gray pebble in front of his shoe.

"Don't worry. I am asking to satisfy my curiosity."

"How do you know what woman want? I mean...are there specific signals or signs?" Team P's member mumbled, keeping his gaze on the ground.

He failed to notice an amused smirk forming on the older man's lips, "What do you mean?" Though he knew fully well what Sinju was insinuating, Sotetsu decided to test the water a little.

"I mean, how do you tell if a girl wan-" Sinju suddenly froze when it hit him that asking Sotetsu may be just as bad as asking Akira. 'What if he tells the others?'

"I just remembered that I have to...uh...go help Rindou. See you later." Sinju quickly walked past Sotetsu without glancing at him once.

Team K's member laughed to himself, "You can't even lie properly...you're too honest for your own good."

Once again lost in thought, Sinju absentmindedly turned a corner and nearly ran into Ginsei and Gui, but ended up losing his balance and fell on his behind.

"S-sorry, Sinju," Ginsei held out a hand and helped the blue-haired boy onto his feet, "Are you okay?"

"Y-Yeah. Actually, no, I am trying to figure something out but can't find an answer."

"What are you trying to find out?" Team K's second inquired.

"Ginsei, how do you properly treat a woman?" Sinju asked, placing his hands inside the pockets of his jacket.

"Well, that depends on the woman, but you have to be nice to her, listen to her words, treat her with respect-"

Shaking his head, Sinju interrupted, "T-That's not what I mean. How do you know what women want?"

"That again depends on the woman. Some like attention, some like their space," Ginsei paused after seeing a disappointed expression on Sinju's face, "Is that not what you're asking?"

Sinju shook his head and drew in a deep breath, gathering courage, "Is there a proper way to have s*x?"

Ginsei's jaw dropped at hearing Sinju's question as his face turned various shades of red. Not expecting such a bold question, Ginsei was at a complete loss of words, "U-Uh, I-I...w-well...um..."

Seeing the silver-haired man stuttering, Sinju bit the bottom of his lip, "I am sorry for being so straightforward." He hung his head and dragged his heavy feet out of there.

"Ginsei?" Gui called him but got no response. He shook his team member gently, "Ginsei?"

"Y-Yeah?"

"What does s*x mean?" Gui asked innocently, leaning his head to one side.

Ginsei nearly dropped to the ground. His eyes grew as wide as they possibly could while his cheeks kept getting redder. "Gui, don't EVER ask that question to anyone. Actually, forget that you ever heard that word."

Back to square one, Sinju trudged his way through the empty halls of Starless. As he made his way back towards the rehearsal room, he heard a faint sound coming from inside. Taking a peek inside, he saw Mokuren stretching his muscles.

"Mokuren." Sinju cautiously stepped inside, but as soon as he saw Moku's glare, he retreated out of the room, "I am sorry to disturb you!"

"Someone seems frazzled."

Sinju swiftly turned around to see Zakuro and Hari standing behind him. He pondered for a second but decided that he didn't know them well enough to tell them his issue. "I'm okay."

Heading into the locker room, Sinju ran down his now nearly depleted list of who to ask. 'I don't want to ask Rico...he's most likely going to make fun of me. Asking Ran and Mizuki is out of the question. Heath might get embarrassed.'

He plopped onto the chair in front of the makeup vanity and stared at himself in the mirror, examining his dark circles and pale face. Sinju slouched further into the chair and closed his eyes. 'That leaves Kei, Takami, Qu, Kasumi, and Kongou.'

It was a new day, and Sinju decided to try his luck once again, hoping that he will get an answer or answers this time around. He poked his head into the management office and spoke in a shaky voice, "Kei, do you h-have a minute?"

Kei glanced at him and nodded, motioning him to come inside. "Why do you sound nervous? Did your team members get into another fight?"

Sinju closed the door behind him before shaking his head. "Thankfully, no, but I wanted to ask you something. I h-have a kinda personal question," he raised his hands in front of him, "not personal as in prying information about you."

"What do you want to know?" Kei asked in his signature baritone voice, maintaining a straight face.

"H-How do I know my girlfriend is...um...ready to get c-close to me? And how do I...ma-make love properly?" Sinju couldn't meet the older male's eyes after those words left his mouth.

Kei's lips slightly parted, and his eyebrows rose a notch. Though he was astonished, Kei quickly gathered himself. A smile soon appeared on his lips. Sinju slowly drew his eyes up to see Kei smiling, much to his surprise.

"If your girlfriend wants you to get close to her, you will be able to tell from her body language." Kei paused to allow Sinju to ask any new questions.

"Body..language?"

"Yes. Each female has her way of hinting that she's ready. You will have to figure this out on your own, but ask yourself, is she doing anything out of the usual?" Kei studied Sinju's expressions before continuing, "To answer your second question, there is no proper way of making love. But, make sure to pay attention to her needs."

"I see." Sinju rubbed the back of his head, taking in the information piece-by-piece, "Thank you, Kei."

Bowing slightly, he turned on his heels and headed towards the door, overjoyed that he finally got an answer to his question. Meanwhile, Kei quietly chuckled and whispered to himself, "How sweet."

Sinju skipped to the locker room but stopped upon hearing his name. Spinning around, he saw Takami walking towards him. "Someone is happy today."

The young boy gave a grin, "Hey, Takami."

"Did something good happen?"

"I finally got an answer to my question." Sinju leaned against the door to the locker room and spoke in a quiet voice.

"What question would that be?" Takami asked curiously, pushing his glasses closer to his face with his index finger.

Sinju pressed his lips together, thinking whether or not he should ask Takami as well. 'More opinions won't hurt, right? After all, Kei said there's no right way.'

Before asking, Sinju looked up and down the hallway, making sure that no one was around. "Takami, do you have any tips for...my f-first time?"

"First time?" He asked in a whisper.

"Yes, first time...getting close to my g-girlfriend."

Takami smiled at Sinju's nervousness, "Follow your instincts and have patience."

"Oh, okay. Thanks, Takami. I need to get ready for floor duty."

Team W's member smirked a little as he watched his co-worker disappear into the locker room. "That was unexpected."

Once Team W started their show, Sinju followed Qu and Kasumi back to the locker room for a short break. He sat on one of the benches and stretched his legs, "That was hectic."

"It's pretty busy for a weekday," Kasumi chimed in while nodding in agreement.

Qu finished touching up his foundation and gazed at Sinju through the mirror, "Sinju, did something happen yesterday?"

"Why do you ask?"

"Hari and Zakuro were saying something about you not looking too well," Qu said in a concerned tone.

"Oh, that? Can I ask you two a question? You promise to keep it a secret?" Sinju asked, looking back and forth at the friends. They nodded in unison.

"I am thinking about taking my relationship with my girlfriend one step further. Do you two have any suggestions?"

A gentle smile danced on Qu's lips, "Well, you could try to set up the mood. Soft music, roses, candles..."

Kasumi leaned back on the bench and added, "You could start by watching a romantic movie."

The corner of Sinju's lips rose little-by-little as he began to picture the date in his mind. "Sounds perfect."

"Good luck, Sinju." Kasumi patted his shoulder as Qu nodded in agreement.

"Now, shall we get back to our duty?" The silver-haired beauty chuckled and warned the men that their break was coming to an end.

The day was almost over. Sinju was one of the last ones left in the store. He opened his locker and started gathering his belonging, humming to himself.

"Sinju, you are still here?"

"I had to finish cleaning. Are you locking up the store today, Kongou?" Sinju closed his locker and made his way to the ex-wrestler.

"Yeah. Are you heading to the train station? If so, mind if we walk together?" Kongou asked politely.

"I'll wait for you at the entrance." Sinju smiled and excused himself.

Locking up the store, the two men walked past a crowd of tourists, giving each one of them a smile. Even at a distance, they could hear the females in the group giggling.

"So, how was your day?" Kongou asked, "I heard floor duty was an adventure today."

"Yeah, there were so many demands. I am sure you were super busy in the kitchen."

"It was busy, but at least there were no accidents." Kongou laughed.

Silence filled the air as the two men walked past a usually busy park. A light breeze ruffled a few of Sinju's loose hair strands. "Hey Kongou, do you have a girlfriend?"

Surprised by the sudden question, the tall man turned his head towards Sinju, "Well, n-no, but why do you ask?"

Realizing that he may sound nosy, the young boy quickly apologized, "Oh, s-sorry. I have received a lot of good tips today about how to treat my girlfriend, but I want to ask you for your opinion as well."

"Treat as in?"

"Get c-close to her." He whispered and puffed his cheek.

Though Kongou was taken aback by the question, he found Sinju's expressions to be quite cute. Clearing his throat, he spoke calmly, "Since it sounds like your first time, I suggest you pay heavy attention to foreplay to get both of you ready. Also remember to use protection."

Sinju nodded and thanked Kongou for his advice before parting ways with him. While on the train, he took out his phone and texted you.

Sinju: Are you free the day after tomorrow? You: I have all the time in the world for you.❤️ Sinju: 😀 Then, do you want to come over to my house? Um...in the evening?

Not seeing an immediate reply, almost made Sinju regret asking you. ‘Did I scare her off? Does she think I’m moving too fast? Maybe she isn’t ready.’ DING. DING. DING.

Sinju was startled to hearing his notification going off. He scrambled to unlock his phone, nearly dropping it in the process. An elder lady sitting across from him even asked him to calm down. Apologizing to her, the nervous boy opened your messages.

You: I would love to come over. About time you asked. You: AHHH I can’t wait!!! You: See you in two days! ❤️❤️❤️

Though you sent him three messages, Sinju’s eyes were glued to the first message. He kept reading it over and over.

“...but ask yourself, is she doing anything out of the usual?”

Kei’s words echoed in Sinju’s ears. ‘What does she mean by ‘about time I asked’? Does this mean...she has been waiting for me to make a move?’

Sinju spent the entire morning jumping from one shop to another. He wanted to make the date night as perfect as he possibly could. After all, this was going to be the best night of your life as well as his. After nearly spending three hours picking out items, he returned to his home and began to decorate the living room.

Evening came around, and Sinju got dressed in his finest white shirt and black dress pants. He dabbed a bit of your favorite cologne on his neck and fixed his hair.

Knock. Knock.

Sinju nearly ran to the door after hearing the knocking. He took a deep breath and opened the door, "Hey, (Y/N). How-"

The words got caught in his throat when his eyes landed on you. Sinju slowly moves his eyes downwards, taking in your short plunging V-neck, spaghetti strap, red lace dress. No one told him that you would dress this way for the date.

"So? How do I look?" You asked, twirling around, causing the ruffle hem of your dress to lift a little.

Sinju quickly averted your eyes and mumbled, "You look g-great. Come in."

As soon as you stepped in, you were stunned by the effort your boyfriend put into the decoration. Candles were methodically placed to create a pathway leading to a petal covered coffee table. Amidst the red rose petals laid a dark green wine bottle, a pair of wine glasses, and a snack platter. To add to the atmosphere, Sinju had closed the curtains and shut off the lights.

"Beautiful..."

A grin appeared on Sinju's lips as he took hold of your hand, leading you towards the living area. Sitting you on the sofa, he opened the wine bottle and poured the aromatic dark red liquid into both glasses.

Once you were comfortable, Sinju turned on the TV and started the movie he had picked. A few minutes into the movie, Sinju's gaze meandered over at your legs. How he wished that your dress would slide up just a little more so he could get a glimpse of - he caught his wandering mind and forced his attention back to the TV screen.

You leaned your head on his shoulder, making him smile. He leaned over to kiss the top of your head when he saw an unavoidable view - your pushed up mounds nearly spilling out of your dress. No matter how hard he tried, he couldn't avert his gaze. His pants were becoming too tight for his liking.

'Patience. Have patience.' He reminded himself, tapping his foot in a rhythmic pattern. You felt his eyes on you but decided to ignore it for the time being.

Then it came on - the scene Sinju had been waiting for. The actor and actress drew near, pressing their lips firmly together. Not a moment later, their clothes were flying left and right. Both of you were speechless as you gawked at their naked bodies melting together. You slowly shifted your eyes to meet Sinju's orange ones.

'This is my chance.' He leaned down closer to your face, eyes staring straight into yours. You eagerly waited for his warm lips, but instead, his nose collided with yours, causing both of you to pull back.

"S-sorry." Sinju had never felt more embarrassed, but your giggle gave him the courage to try again. Once again, leaning in, he tilted his head and met your lips.

The kiss that started sweet had now turned passionate. Sinju rested his hand on one of your exposed legs, not breaking the kiss, and began to stroke up. Rip. Sinju broke the kiss and looked down at your dress. His bracelet got caught on the lace and managed to rip a small portion.

'Why does this keep happening?' Sinju apologized to you, but instead of getting angry, you started laughing.

"Don't worry about it. Forget about that." You whispered and helped free his bracelet, "Where were we?"

Sinju smiled shyly and peppered your face with kisses while running his hand to your back. Not being able to control his excitement, he tried to untie the strings holding up your dress.

"Sinju, what's wrong?" You asked breathlessly.

"You dress is a little complicated to remove." His voice had a range of emotions.

"It's okay, take your time. Meanwhile, let me have a little fun." You whispered playfully and pushed him back on the sofa.

Sinju stared at you with wide eyes while you climbed on top of him, blushing deeply. Running your hands up his chest, you began to unbutton his shirt, wanting to feast your eyes on his muscles.

Being too shocked to move, Sinju ran over the list of things the members had told him. Patience, foreplay, pay attention to her needs, follow instincts, and mood. No one warned him that you would attempt to seduce him. No one warned him that you would be undressing him. NO ONE warned him. He was far from mentally prepared for this.

You stopped when you realized that Sinju was not reacting to your touch; instead, he was staring off into space, looking like he saw a ghost.

"Sinju? What's wrong?"

He shook his head and sat up with you, "N-nothing."

The room went silent. Neither Sinju nor you moved from your place. Everything was supposed to be perfect, but everything was far from perfect. Both of you were disappointed.

Not wanting to face you anymore, Sinju went to get up but accidentally poked the side of your waist, earning a yelp from you.

"Sinju!"

A playful smile slowly appeared on his lips.

"What's that smile for? Sinju? What are you planning to do?" You shifted back on the couch in apprehension.

Out of nowhere, Sinju dug his fingers into your sides and began to tickle you. No matter how many times you asked him to stop, he refused to listen. Grabbing a pillow near you, you began hitting Sinju with it.

Laughter echoed through his apartment. Sinju chased you around his home, trying to tickle you while you grabbed any soft item you could and threw it at him. What was supposed to be a perfect, romantic date night had now turned into a cute date.

Though this was far from what Sinju expected, he knew there was always next time.

BTS Love Yourself Tour LA Day 2

~basically my experience at the concert before i forget everything cause im lowkey already forgetting parts of it~

~I love all of them but my bias is Jimin & my bias wrecker is Jin~

i actually wasnt planning on going to the concert but my cousin somehow managed to get a second pair of tickets even tho she already went on Day 1. Anyways my uncle asks if i want to go with her to the thursday show & I immediately say yes. So i basically only have 2 days to mentally prepare myself to see them after stanning them for like 4 years

Thursday comes, I go pick up my cousin & we get to staples around 5PM & theres so many people w/ BTS/BT21 merch. I meet up w/ my friend & the other person she went to the concert with & we chill around for a bit. I didnt have an ARMY Bomb but the other 3 did so i kept debating on getting it or not & i somehow i reasoned myself to get one.

Around 5:30 they start letting people into the venue but we’re confused on where to go & as soon as we get in I get separated from my friend but it didnt matter cause we had different seats anyways. Instead of waiting in the merch line outside I bought my lightstick from the store inside Staples where there was just a wall full of them & no line so that gave me no time to convince myself I didn’t need one. (But now im hella broke （πーπ）but having one made the concert so much better)

We go buy some snacks & head to our seats. I was so shook when I found out before the concert that we had P1 seats in row 1 but when we were actually there I was even more shook cause it was basically on the left side of the main stage in the area right after the people on the floor. By then we had 2 hours left before the concert started but they kept playing their mvs from War of Hormone era until Fake Love era on the screens (I wish that they played their mvs from before WoH & from rap line’s mix tapes). Even tho the same vids kept replaying throughout those 2 hours everyone kept screaming/singing & doing the fanchants. With only 30 min left before it started my cousin wanted McDonalds so i rushed out to get some & ate basically in 10 min. Then the concert started.

Basically throughout the concert I kept debating on whether I wanted to take good pictures, good videos, or just pay attention so i did a mixture of all 3. (Kinda wish that i only took vids & gave up on taking pics cause they weren’t that good & I was too focused on pics to give them all of my attention). So basically it started w/ a VCR of all the members & then fireworks went off & they walked out w/ outfits that made them look like princes & they started doing IDOL & it was so amazing w/ everyone cheering especially when the backup dancers came out for the last chorus part.

After they did IDOL they did their individual introductions & all of them were hyped & excited & cute & unreal & just ugghhhhh. I dont remember the order they went in & what they specifically said but i’ll just go through each members intro. I dont remember what RM said specifically but he had some of the loudest screams of the night & that continued throughout the entire concert. JHope did his “I’m your Hope!!!!! I’m your angel!!!!!! I’M......” & everyone responded w/ JHOPE!!!! & i think he said something along the lines of being excited to be back in LA but i think besides RM he spoke the most English during his time to talk. Suga did his dramatic standing there for a bit & took out his ear piece to hear ARMY scream for him & then did his intro. Jin did his flying kiss again for his intro!!! (I was kind of hoping he would have a little heart event thing like he did last tour where he took out random hearts) Jungkook’s mic wasn’t working so RM lent him his mic to introduce himself & he said “it’s been awhile” which has basically been going everywhere. I don’t remember what Jimin & V did or said but they were so beautiful IRL. & since Jimin is my bias i just kept thinking he looks so good w/ his ashy brown/blonde hair & contacts. While doing their introductions Jungkook kept trying to fix his mic & eventually had to go backstage to fix & when he came back all of them were like “Are you ready Jungkook?”

Then they did Save Me & I’m Fine. Watching them do this stage on like MCountdown or any of the music shows doesn’t give these songs & choreo justice & the transition between Save Me to I’m Fine was so smooth. Everyone did the fanchants w/ all their names & everything for Save Me. I was so excited to hear I’m Fine cause it was one of my fav songs off Answer cause of Yoongi’s rap & he went in on his part & it just made my life complete hearing his rapping live. They performed Magic Shop next & that was more fan interaction. They mostly stayed on the main stage & a little bit on the runway towards the extended stage. V & Jungkook I think kept looking towards our section/area & all of them kept waving their hands towards the upper levels. & everyone responded w/ “I’ll show you” when it was the “so show me” part. & Jimin’s vocals during his high note was sooooo goood

JHope’s & Jungkook’s VCR played next as they went backstage so I was getting hyped for the all the solo stages that were gonna be happening. JHope’s solo was first & just his dancing was amazing & it just looked like he was having a good time & he kept jumping around & throwing hearts but also dancing at the same time & he was just fluid while doing everything while singing & rapping his song. Euphoria was next & of course cause it’s the golden maknae so his stage was amazing. (I was tempted to do the ‘annyeonghaseyo joneun bangtan sonyeondan hwanggeum maknae jeon jungkook imnida’ meme thing that Byron started but i was way too focused on his stage + plus i would mess it up anyways) His stage really was Euphoria for me

They all came out w/ white outfits for their I Need U + Run stage. They actually didnt do the choreo for either song. I Need U was more on the main stage & as it was ending they went towards the extended stage where they did Run. Run was so hyped & they kept jumping & spinning around the ‘Run, Run, Run’ & they kept doing fanservice towards the pit area. I really wish that i recorded during this but i just ended up taking a bunch of pics. They just seemed really happy during this part & they kept smiling & everyone was extra loud during the English parts

Then it was RM’s & Jimin’s VCR & solo stage time. Jimin was so cute during the VCR & he came out & did Serendipity (the FULL VERSION) & I lost my shit for my boy. I knew he’s a good performer but seeing his dancing & singing just made it more real. He’s so fluid while dancing & his voice is amazing & just the amount of people that were singing his song made me so proud of him. His stage also had bubbles instead of confetti like some of the other members & it just made his stage more ethereal. He also had a part in the choreo that involved the floor & everyone lost their shit when that happened. RM came out w/ this long blue jacket that he lowkey kept making it come off one his shoulders at the start of his stage like Jimin’s “accident” during BST. But again everyone was hyped & we all did the “saram, saram, saram & I live so I love” His rapping was great & then his singing part came & we just lost it...but then we lost it again when the rest of the members came to join him for the last part of the song

Then it was time for DNA & then their medley of other songs. During DNA the fanchants were on point & Jimin kept throwing hearts around when it was his part & Jin did another flying kiss. They did a diff medley from Day 1 & this was their more lit medley w/ Attack on Bangtan, Boyz with Fun, & Baepsae, & Dope, which just made them more hyped & let them more fun on stage. Honestly they’re was so much going on it was hard to focus on everything but there are so many memorable parts. Like at the end of Attack on Bangtan they were all fanning Jungkook. Jungkook was doing the shoot dance on the runway towards the extended stage. Hobi was lit the entire time & there was time where he just kept dancing towards our section. Namjoon was also feeling himself during one of the songs & kept dancing. They were all just rude during Baepsae I can’t. & Jimin did another heart at the end of Dope

After that they did Airplane pt.2 & i live for the choreo w/ the mics. I loved the mariachi part + just when they kept naming all the different cities. & then it was V’s turn for his solo & he had the VCR to himself & he did the choreo w/ the coat & masks & his deep voice got me. They performed Fake Love & Jimin had an “accident” w/ his shirt & Jungkook was rude w/ his shirt lifting part & the fanchants were sooooooo goooooddddd again.

The last solo stages were Suga’s & Jin’s. Suga’s song is my fav out of the Trivias & he just started his stage by lying on a couch but then he got up & did his choreo & ooooohhhhhhh boooooyyyyy HIS RAPPING & SINGING OOOHHH GODDDDDD how can people say no one cheered for his stage the first day. Before Epiphany even started everyone was chanting KIM SEOKJIN & the stage opened up to him playing the piano. Just his vocals & high notes were on point that night. How dare BigHit deprive this man of the lines he deserves. There was a part were he was walking up the stairs to an elevated stage & everyone started chanting KIM SEOKJIN as he walked up them. & then he finished out his song w/ those high notes. Honestly Jin’s solo stage might have been my fav solo stage

The rest of vocal line came out & performed The Truth Untold. This was probably my favorite stage of the whole concert cause everyone was singing the entire song. Their vocals & harmonies were unreal & they were on this raised platform where at the end petals fell down on them & made them look ethereal. Rap lines turn was next & they performed Tear. Lowkey I didn’t know the lyrics to this song that much but I was still hyped. Then they announced their last song was Mic Drop & again it was lit again especially w/ that dance break.

Their ending VCR was played & everyone kept chanting BTS as we waited for their encore stage. We had ARMY Time & took out the slogan banners that said “if we’re with BTS, even an endless maze is paradise” They came out w/ ARMY Bombs & V had these huge glasses that I didnt expect for him to have & sang So What & Anpanman & they went crazy on stage again & at the end of So What they messed w/ Jimin’s hair & V kept patting his butt/side where his Army Bomb was. Anpanman = lit & fun. Jungkook was extra & did the thing where he laid down on the floor & didnt use his hands to get up

They had their final ment. They were talking about the banners we held out for them & leaned hella close towards the pit & Jin gave a thumbs up to the crowd when he read what it said. They kept saying ARMY was the best & we are their superheros. Again, I think Hobi spoke the most English during his time to talk & he had this little bag w/ his sticker on it & he asked if we wanted it & everyone yelled out YES!!! LOL & he said he was so happy for being there & for having 2 more shows. When it was Jimin’s turn he kept doing random poses when he saw he was on the screen & he thanked us for making their album #1 on Billboard & he did more hearts. Jungkook had this cute head bobbing thing as he listened to us scream & just thanked us again. Jin & his kiss thing AGAIN. He also had 4 mini ARMY Bomb rings on his hand that he was showing off & then Suga stuck his hand near Jin’s face to show off his Suga rings that he’s so proud of. Jin is as much a fan of ARMYs as we are of him. V talked slowly so that he could pronounce everything he wanted to say right & wished everyone to have sweet dreams. Suga looked so happy just looking at the crowd. He talked about a LA Dodgers player LOL & just said thank you. RM had the loudest screams during his final ment & he was flustered with the response. & the boys kept hyping him up & Jimin & V messed w/ his face & he had to quiet us down so he could say what he wanted. He talked about back in 2014 when V, Jungkook, & Jimin were handing out invitations to random people on the street to come to their show & KCON at Staples when they were only guests but now they’re here for their own show for 4 days cause of ARMY. Then they had their actual final song Answer: Love Myself & they kept waving their ARMY Bombs around so we could follow them. Then they each walked back towards the main stage & took their final bow.

This was soooo long. I didn’t expect to go the concert at all & gave up on trying to go months ago. But I guess I’m hella lucky. This just made me love them so much more & I wish I could go to another concert day or just another concert in general. I feel like I didn’t spend that much attention on Suga & Jungkook & I REGRET IT SO MUCH BUT I LOVE ALL OF THEM BTS I LOVE YOU 💜

Wings Tour Final in Seoul ♡

An extremely long, detailed account of my experience attending the Wings Tour Final in Seoul Day 1!

PRE-CONCERT: I got to the venue at around midday mainly to suss out the merch situation, (quickly realized merch wasn’t going to happen because there were queues wrapping the block, it was mind-boggling how many people were in line!) but it was a blessing in disguise, because I ended up with a tonne of super cute fansite merchandise, and I ended up meeting a lot of really great people!

CONCERT: I was seated in Section B at the front section of the floor, near the centre stage and the left wing. I was very close to the front stage, even closer to the left wing stage, and a fairly unobstructed (but not close at all) view of the extended stage. They were very, very strict on photography during the concert (until the end). The concert kicked off with a VCR, playing some BTS highlights and also their BBMAs acceptance speech. Mic Drop: When the speech finished playing, the lights came onto the stage to reveal the guys in their Mic Drop costumes. I just about screamed my head off because I was expecting Not Today, and instead I was greeted with the beautiful sight of my Seven Guys in their Mic Drop outfits (and no bucket hats!) They were on fire, Mic Drop choreography is insane live. I was blown away by the energy, and the attitude, and then they did the dance break from Mama and their body rolls were rude and wonderful all at once.

Medley: This medley was the peak of my non-stop screaming because quite honestly, it was sensory overload. They started with We Are Bulletproof Pt. 1 & 2 and that in itself was a shock to my system, because I never, ever thought I would get to see those songs being performed live. They were having so much fun with the medley, and then they started taking turns going down the left and right wings. When the members were on the left side, they were SO CLOSE and it was a shock. I don’t really remember much about the music, or the stage, or anything (sigh) because my attention was solely on the member standing right there in front of me. (I’ll go into more detail at the end of this post re: My Reactions to their visuals bc... i need a separate paragraph for that lmao.) They then did Cypher pt. 1, 2, 3 and 4, and I swear to you my soul left my body. The Cypher series, ESPECIALLY part 3, has always been a dream and tonight that dream was realized. The best part was that Namjoon was standing right in front of me in the left wing while rapping his verse of Cypher Pt 3. He is an unbelievable rapper, charismatic and fierce and intense all at once. Also Yoongi’s verse in Cypher pt. 3 (the crazy fast one) was iNSANE live and I feel highly blessed to have witnessed that irl. He is ridiculously talented. Cypher pt. 4 (on the extended stage) they got us to stand up, and Hoseok owned it - he became Jay Dope and the energy in the crowd was great, we were all cheering and Yoongi threw water into the crowd!

Begin & Lie: Jungkook blew me away with Begin. His vocals were so stable, that if you were listening to him with your eyes closed, you would not have been able to guess just how hard he was dancing. Also, he is an unbelievable performer - he was surrounded by backup dancers and my eyes were drawn to him. He has a really intense way to staring at the audience, and he connects with the music and the crowd so well. Jimin performed Lie on the extended stage so I didn’t get the full effect, but even so, watching it mainly from the screen was incredible. His face when he dances to Lie is so beautiful, and he dances with his entire soul, seriously. The stadium was spectacular too, the Army bombs are synced to the beat of the song/specific colours, and the entire dome was slowly pulsing a dark crimson red and it was like something out of a film.

First Love: First Love gets it’s own paragraph because out of all the performances tonight, the most memorable one for me personally, was First Love. I can’t even explain Yoongi... he just rapped with so much intensity, and passion, and he just has It. It’s everything- the delivery, the way he stares into the audience, the nuances of his face expressions... he is a performer who makes you feel things. I could not keep my eyes off of him, I cried, and at the end he got really emotional too (which just made me cry harder).

So Far Away, Lost, Save Me, I Need U: So after First Love, was Seokjin singing ‘So far away’, and it felt like the entire dome was shaking from how loud everyone was screaming. They arranged it so well, the four vocal line members were standing on the extended stage, no choreo, just singing- and it never felt like one was overpowering the other, instead, they all blended together so beautifully? It was really moving. I felt so lucky to be able to watch them perform that song live. After that, was Lost, Save Me, I Need U which are all classic, so enjoyable, and they were dressed in these blue grey silk shirts... some of which were low V neck cuts and I seriously nutted off the face of the earth, they looked so good.

Reflection: I loved every second of Reflection. When I’ve watched fancams of Reflection from other concerts, I’ve gotten emotional because I (personally) sensed Namjoon performing it with a melancholic tone. Tonight though, I don’t know, he just seemed happy? He was smiling a lot, and during the instrumental bit he said, “I believe.” And he looked up and smiled, and said, (something along the lines of) “I believe we are all whales. We are alone, but we are swimming together,” in English. And he was smiling and swaying and then he asked a question, I can’t remember what, but it was a question he wanted us to say ‘yes’ to. Buuuut, because he spoke in English, the audience just chanted back “Kim Namjoon” and Namjoon laughed. It was really cute. He looked really happy, and he was wearing a sparkly black blazer and looked like a Visual Masterpiece.

Stigma: Stigma was another performance that blew my socks off. Taehyung hit every single note, and the tone of his voice in real life is so soulful. He was in his element, he was staring into the audience with this piercing gaze... he was basically eyefucking us and it was incredible. His facial expressions are NO JOKE. He kept smirking, and then staring, and then licking his lips and the entire dome was hooked. Every time he did a certain face expression you could hear people going “ohhhhh”. He absolutely knows how to perform, he’s mesmerizing. And at the end, he ad-libbed a few high notes in Stigma and his voice sounded amazing.

Mama & Awake: Mama was the one song I was the most excited to see prior to the concert! It exceeded all my expectations. Hoseok was in the best mood, he was beaming from ear to ear and being really playful - making love hearts and dancing with a huge grin. It was so heartwarming. He was born to perform, when he’s up there doing his thing EVERYONE is in love, seriously. He is such a good dancer, he engages with the crowd so well... and the end of Mama with the gospel-esque choir and Hoseok singing had my body shivering! He is an INCREDIBLE singer (a true Vocalist) and at the end he gave us the world’s biggest smile and my heart melted in to the floor. Awake was immediately after, and hello, I love Seokjin. I will fight everyone who doubts his vocal ability because his voice was so strong and stable tonight, and those high notes had my soul ascending. He sang with so much emotion, and his voice just filled the arena so beautifully and it never felt strained, it was effortless. I teared up, and the entire dome went quiet and after her finished, they clapped. It was a really beautiful moment.

DNA & Go Go: Before DNA, they played a VCR they recorded (speaking of? how do they have the TIME i can’t deal with them) and the crowd started to go nuts. When we heard Jungkook’s whistle, and the beat kicked in, the roar from Army was deafening. The fanchants were insane, the loudest fanchants of the night, and the guys were loving it. It felt like they were vibing off of us, and they were smiling and enjoying DNA so much. Go Go was so much fun! They were having a good time, and being so so so cute with the aegyo.

Medley 2: The medley started off with N.O., No More Dream, Boy in Love and Danger. They did the same thing as before, all taking turns to go to the two wings of the stage. I feel like I have no clear memories of the medleys, because I wasn’t paying attention to the screen at all when the members were right there ahhhh. I remember Jimin was in front of us and he did the body rolls from No More Dream (I was yodeling), and Jungkook was with us during either Danger or Boy In Luv and he stayed for ages, interacting with us and dancing around. The second half of the medley they returned to the extended stage, for Fire. They started from the 3:33 dance break and it was fucking crazy. These fireworks popped out of nowhere and they just BROKE into that dance and my eyes fell out of my head. Their dancing was so sharp and so strong (especially Jimin holy mole). After Fire they told us all to stand up, and they started to sing Run. It was an orchestra version, so kind of upbeat, and they were running around and EVERYONE was dancing/jumping up and down. It was the most energetic the crowd was all night, the boys seemed so happy, and then at the climax of the song these gold streamers popped over us on ground floor and it was so beautiful I can’t.

BST, You Never Walk Alone & Best of Me: Blood Sweat & Tears was one of my favourite performances of the night. The dance was AMAZING, they gave it their all and seeing them do that choreography irl was so memorable. Afterwards they said it was their last song, and Army were chanting for about 5 minutes straight refusing to accept that reality... and of course, they came out in these truck things. On my side, I had Taehyung, Hoseok and Seokjin. (from memory). We were waving at them, and they were SO BEAUTIFUL, because they all came out wearing Wings tour merch. When I saw Tae in the beret my jaw dropped and I whipped my head around to look at the screen to see NAMJOON IN THE BERET and I distinctly remember screaming out “THANK YOU” lmfao. YNWA was so cute, and then they did Best of Me which was SO ADORABLE. They were so happy, bouncing around in their trucks with their selfie sticks waving to us and singing.

Ment 1: (I can’t remember in between the ments because there were so many, but this is a vague memory of ment 1) Jimin said he missed us a lot, Seokjin did his heart event (punching through a sheet of white paper to reveal a red love heart), and Jimin said he really loves performing Best of Me :) Seokjin wanted to mess around with the army bombs and do a wave of colour, and then Yoongi made us all clap ‘once’. Jimin asked us to sing the melody of Best of Me and we couldn’t (it sounded so bad) and they kind of went “oh..” and everyone laughed. It was really nice, and intimate almost, they were mucking around and having fun and I was the softest bitch in the room. They also all went around talking about this year, and thanking us for the success of LY:Her. Then they said that this was going to be their last song for the night.

Road/Path & Born Singer: I can’t explain to you my reaction when I realized they were singing Road/Path. I was facing the extended stage, and I turned to see on the screen, their faces next to different clips of their debut/early era selves. It was so, so emotional. People around me (and me) were crying, seeing for example, Jungkook now singing next to debut Jungkook. (Also, unrelated, but because I was at the front of the section right by the massive screen, I could see every detail of the member’s faces it was kinda intense... e.g. I could see the texture of their skin and the fact that Yoongi had a tiny lil pimple). After Road/Path, they stood in a circle and Jungkook sang “I’m a born singer” and the entire stadium exploded. I was in shock, and I started to cry because WHAT THE HECKIN HELL! It was the same as in the original performance, them in a circle on a rotating platform. I can’t even explain the feeling. They sang/rapped with so much emotion, and behind them was a sea of glittering army bombs. It was really beautiful. The lyrics of Born Singer are so intense and you could hear it in their voices. I was an emotional wreck and it was at that moment I told myself that I will support these guys til my old age, they deserve the world. They’re so talented and humble and they put their 100% into their music, you could feel it in that performance and I think everyone was crying.

Ment 2 & Spring Day: Namjoon was crying, and they all went in turns to say their final words. This time, it was really emotional (as opposed to all the others during the night were they were joking around, teasing us, etc). most of them were crying/teary, and so grateful. They kept thanking us. The most emotional one for me (aside from Namjoon) was Jungkook. He was speaking in this really thick, quiet voice, like he was on the verge of tears, and he told us that he wants to perform well for us, and that tonight he felt like he hadn’t done that. He said his condition wasn’t good and Army all cheered, “it’s okay” (idk how to translate the korean word exactly? but kind of yeah, ‘you did okay/it’s okay’), and Jungkook teared up and said, “Thank you, I love you”. They then performed Spring Day, which was so beautiful live, and they disappeared. A video played on the screen of them writing letters, and a lot of Army left because they thought it was over (fools!!! hehe), because after the video we looked up to see them in those hot air balloons!

ENDING: OKAY SO!!!! Because of where I was sitting, the Hot Air Balloon above me would dip inwards like close to the ground and then back up, if that makes sense (basically I was really close to the balloons). Everyone stood up and was taking photos, and I spotted Namjoon in his beret and I kid you not I dropped my army bomb, my phone, everything, and grabbed my slogan. I had this huge slogan, white fabric with black Korean letters that said “WE LOVE KIM NAMJOON” and I held it up. I didn’t mention this earlier but my section seemed to be full of Yoongi/Jimin/JK stans and every time Namjoon was around there weren’t THAT many cheers for him, also everyone had their phones out, but i was like WAVING my giant slogan from side to side. Namjoon spotted it and I let go of it with one hand and pointed at him like saying “you, you, you” and he smiled and pointed BACK and did the ‘you you you’ and I did a thumbs up (lmfao I didn’t know what else to do) and he laUGHED (and then turned around) but i seriously think my ass was trembling the entire time. They got off the balloons and spent time going to both wings again to say individual goodbyes. Hobi came around and I did a big heart on my head with my arms and wiggled from side to side and he did a head heart back and wiggled I FUCKING SCREAMED, it was a fleeting moment but iconic nonetheless. Namjoon came to the left wing second to last, and I held up the slogan again and yelled “NAMJOON THANK YOU” (in Korean) and no one else was yelling and he saw me and HE POINTED AT ME and I pOINTED BACK AND HE SMILED AGAIN AND THE GIRL NEXT TO ME GRABBED MY ARM AND WENT “AHHHH”....... anyway after this, they all went back to the centre stage. As the big screens were closing they were being cute, Jin asked us to give him flying hand kisses, etc etc, and doing individual dances (Yoongi did a break dance thing) and saying “Bye” until the very last moment.

MEMBERS VISUALS/MY IMPRESSIONS Jungkook: He is so, so handsome. SO HANDSOME. His face is so chiselled irl ugh he’s grown up so much I can’t deal. He has a really nice body and the thighs are NO JOKE. He’s such a good dancer and he exudes so much confidence on stage, he’s so attractive it hurts me Taehyung: I am convinced that he is one of the most devastatingly beautiful people in the entire world. He’s very sharp and intense and beautiful, honestly. His features are unreal - his eyes!!! And at the end he was wearing the beret and his eyebrows and smile had me so weak. Jimin: Also so, so handsome. He has a really nice facial structure, a really nice jaw. And he’s beautiful in a soft, almost delicate way. On stage (after Namjoon because im biased af) I found him the most captivating to watch. Also I know everyone rags on him about his height but he really didn’t seem that way to me! Hoseok: Okay Hoseok is a visual masterpiece? Photos do not do him justice, he was the nicest facial structure and such a handsome face. He’s softer in real life too, and so, so charming. His smile is ridiculous, and when he has that intense stare........ no one is safe Yoongi: Also a visual masterpiece? He has a smaller frame but the way he moves his body is so attractive. He has a really pretty face too. he just has this charisma about him, he’s undoubtedly the sexiest person alive. Seokjin: My jaw dropped when I saw him. He is IT. The best looking man alive, no joke. Like fucking hell, I honestly gasped. His body is f*cked, his shoulders, his torso, his legs, and his FACE. HIS FUCKING FACE. his hair was styled so well and they put him in a lot of plunging shirts, fuck. He wasn’t as fanservicey at the start of tonight as the others and I found it so attractive, he was just STARING at the audience ahhhhh. And during one of the medleys while he was on my side of the stage in the wings, he picked up a bottle of water, drank it, and tossed it over his shoulder with an idgaf expression on his face. It was the hottest thing I’ve seen lmfao Namjoon: I have No Words to describe him.... other than.... truly........ the Visual to end all Visuals. He’s SO ATTRACTIVE. SO. SO. ATTRACTIVE. He has SO MUCH stage presence and he smiles and has these lil face expressions all the time that you don’t usually see in videos, but holy mole. Whenever he was on stage I was staring straight at him. He’s tall, and he has a really nice body, and his FACE!!!! He has a really dainty face and he’s honestly 128293898210x better looking in person which i didn’t even know was possible. HIS SMILE, THE DIMPLES, EVERYTHING, wowowowow

OK SO (wtf this is so long I commend you if you are still reading this), in conclusion, this was an emotional, amazing concert and I am at a loss still! They are all INCREDIBLE performers, and you can really tell that they love what they do. I will never get over this! i feel blessed and lucky. and i love these guys so much.

How A Non-American Western Girl Met Bangtan…pt.1

My journey into this beautiful, endless black hole that is Bangtan Sonyeondan, funny enough, began with despising and ridiculing anything related to Korean dramas and K-pop. I distinctly remember in June of 2016, driving my cousins (one older than me, the other younger) to the mall as they animatedly talked about Lee Min Ho and whatever the latest K-Drama was. Me? I was busy rolling my eyes and trying not to bash them too much. I mean….why on Earth would a show named Cheese In A Trap be remotely watchable?! I just didn’t get what they saw in those dramas. And no it wasn’t the language barrier since we all grew up watching Bollywood movies in my cosmopolitan country. I just…didn’t get it and I didn’t care.

Probably fed up of my constant jokes, by July my younger cousin convinced me to watch just one episode of a K-Drama. Just one, she said, and see what you think. I decided to humor her. So one Friday night, we loaded the first episode of Heirs (she said I would love this series) and all the while I was still internally rolling my eyes.

I admit this….I laughed and cringed. The language sounded weird. Everybody looked alike. The music was not my taste….but the acting was good. Really good. So I watched. By the end of the episode, the language still sounded funny (too animated), Lee Min Ho just changed his hairstyle and I thought he was a different actor, the music was still cringy to me…but I wanted to watch more. I finished that entire series that weekend. And I loved it! I laughed, I cried, I went on an emotional rollercoaster and I wanted more.

By my second K-Drama (they were both now laughing at me at this point) my ears were used to the language and my eyes could tell the difference between actors now (or if they were simply the same actor just with a different hairstyle). However, the music was still not my cup of tea. I just didn’t like the music. And again, it had nothing to do with language. I grew up listening to Bollywood music too. I just didn’t care for it. And any time I would research actors or dramas on YouTube, and mentions of ‘idols’ popped up, I would glance, judge and skip. I wasn’t interested in, well, to be frank, guys that looked prettier than me.

It wasn’t until my fourth K-drama (Cinderella and the Four Knights), in early January 2017 that I finally decided to give Korean music a listen to. I liked one of the OST songs a lot so decided to check it up on YouTube. The artist I discovered, was a band called BtoB. So, like I do with every new artist I discover, I searched for any and all songs by them I could find. I can’t recall exactly what I found but a few things stood out to me. The first was me getting annoyed with YouTube recommendations when I wanted BtoB but kept getting stuff on whatever or whoever was BTS. Literally! These three letters were everywhere! But I didn’t care. I wanted BtoB. The next thing was that I really didn’t find any other of BtoB’s music to my liking. Not that it wasn’t good. It just wasn’t what I liked. So I didn’t bother anymore. Maybe me liking a Korean song was a one-time thing, a flash in the pan. I guess my first instincts were right and I really didn’t like Korean music. So I left it there.

Fast forward a couple of weeks later in late January. While casually browsing through YouTube for no particular video, a recommendation pops up. Youtubers react to K-Pop. My brain went like “Why the hell not?” So I clicked. Don’t ask me who the reactors were. Don’t ask me who the other K-pop groups or songs were. All I can remember is my jaw literally dropping (I kid you not) at those first couple of bars of Blood, Sweat and Tears. I could not believe a K-pop song could sound this amazing! Because not only did I have a preconceived notion about K-dramas but I also had a lot, A LOT, about K-pop.

This was my thought process ‘pre BST’. Even before that drive to the mall, my cousin had mentioned one day that she uses K-pop songs as dance songs for her Infant Year class (she is a teacher) because it gets them hype. I remember her attempting to show me an MV. I don’t remember the song or group (though I remember it being a boy group). And knowing what I know now, apparently my knee jerk reaction was exactly like everyone’s first time reaction at seeing and hearing a K-pop song when from this side of the hemisphere. You name it, I said it and thought it all. Everybody looks alike! There were just three guys…where did the other four come from?! Are they multiplying?! Why are there sooo many?! Why are they dressed like that? Why do the guys look like girls?! And worse….the songs sounded so bubble gummy and cringy. I was turned off! It just wasn’t the kind of music I was accustomed to listening here in the western part of the world. And so I never gave K-pop a spare thought. Hell, it had never even registered to me that Psy was Korean, singing a K-pop song (and I am sure I wasn’t the only one). So, going into the reaction video that night, these were my preconceived notions about K-Pop. But BTS and BST blew them all out of the water.

That was the moment! Not the moment I fell for BTS, no. That would come later. But that was the moment I realized that maybe, just maybe, K-pop wasn’t that bad.

And believe it or not...but it would take me a few groups before BTS was anywhere near my radar again.

hello! okay so +here’s how I got into shipping yoonmin and becoming a hardcore yoonmin enthusiast! also surprisingly, I started stanning bts like after the BBMAs! I have a friend who’s really into kpop and stuff so I was kind of aware of groups but didn’t know who and honestly I remember being so gobsmacked that seventeen had thirteen members cause I used to struggle with one direction’s 5 members at one point. so I had a general gist and a few years ago I heard snsd’s oh and 2ne1 try to follow me which I really liked but you know how you sometimes you just listen to music and that’s it, that’s how it was. never got into kpop but I was interested by it and knew some familiar faces.

then came the bbma’s and obviously they were trending on twitter and it was during exam season and instead of studying and revising for my exams, I was on twitter and saw one of the viral tweets about jin. everyone was like who’s the third guy from the left and I was like hold up, who is the third guy from the left? so I searched them on youtube and listened to blood sweat and tears. I was hooked. I listened to that same song like 50 times in the course of 2 weeks. fast forward half way through my exams, I was over at one of my friends and we were all drunk and browsing youtube. one of my friends is like guys have you heard of this kpop group and my drunken self is like UM YES? but she actually meant super junior and she showed us this video and we were all too smashed to know what we were doing so I was like ladies settle down, let me introduce you to my some amaing guys BTS. so I play blood sweat and tears and someone falls asleep, someone’s arguing with dominoes on the phone, another in the bathroom puking everywhere, but I was still dancing to bst alone. maybe its cause I was drunk, but I remember watching the music video and crying cause I was so into them?? I was like I’m going to protect you boys!!!!!!

you know when you should be revising for your very important exams but instead you go to extreme lengths and procrastinate instead? that was me. I realised I’d listened to bst 1000 times already so I clicked on the suggestions and heard save me, fire (which sounded so familiar like I had heard it before which looking back, I probably had), not today, I even went way back and listened to we are bulletproof part 2. I loved the lyrics to their songs so much. then I watched their dance practice for bst then watched people reacting to it and cause I wanted to see my friends reacting to it, I played it at breakfast the next day literally to my entire hall just to see their reactions. I think I really got into it when I watched the fanmade english speaking compilations and taehyung was so freaking cute. then I obviously had to find out where each video in the compilation was from and then I was watching hustle life and rookie king and all their appearances on variety shows. then I discovered bangtan bombs and vlive. that was it for me. I had an exam the next day but instead I was going to watch RM’s recent vlive.

exams finish but my obsession had only just began. I did some research and found out that their festa was soon then I set an alarm and watched it. live. that’s when I realised I was in too deep. cause I was watching 7 men who I still didn’t know 100% who was who speaking a language I didn’t have experience with. during the summer, my obsession with them tripled. I had more time to waste so even when I was on holiday, my mind was still on bts. I think the fact that there was so much content of them online is what ultimately did it. you’re like okay let me just watch this bangtan bomb, then you’re on a random compilation, a shipping video, on vlive, watching their dance practices. it’s neverending. the good news is that a year ago, I didn’t know who these guys were and neither did my friends but now, every single one of my friend is a fan. I have successfully converted several dozen people and that might be my proudest achievement. every time we do pre drinks, someone willingly puts bts on (mic drop remixis the most played noawdays). my housemates love them and even my mum thinks RM is attractive. AND ALL because someone retweeted a tweet about jin onto my timeline.

when it was revealed that they would perform at the amas, do you know how many texts and calls I got that day? my friends who didn’t know their names were letting me know about the news. and when they were doing their interviews? every single groupchat I was in during the AMA promotion period was 90% bangtan. ‘the blonde one is so precious’ ‘whichever one fell when the fruit hit the glass is my new favourite’ ‘THEY’RE EVERYWHERE’ and my favourite ever, when one of my housemates sent me a random text at 4am, even though her room is right next to mine, saying ‘V is my bias but RM can get whatever he wants’

it’s really weird that I became a fan literally earlier this year because it feels everyone I meet has been a fan since debut. so there’s so much I missed and honestly getting into bts and just kpop was such a trip. I would watch bts performances and it would always say ‘comeback special’ or something and I was like ‘WHERE DID THEY GO?’ so many terms I had to learn. I also tried to listen to other groups too cause I assumed they’d all be like bts but I couldn’t get into any as hard as I did for bts. nowadays there are other groups I listen to and really like but these guys have a special place in my heart.

The Big Lock-Down Math-Off, Match 18

Matthew Scroggs – A surprising fact about quadrilaterals

Matthew Scroggs is one of the editors of Chalkdust, a magazine for the mathematically curious, and blogs at mscroggs.co.uk. He tweets at @mscroggs.

Recently, I came across a surprising fact: if you take any quadrilateral and join the midpoints of its sides, then you will form a parallelogram.

The blue quadrilaterals are all parallelograms.

The first thing I thought when I read this was: “oooh, that’s neat.” The second thing I thought was: “why?” It’s not too difficult to show why this is true; you might like to pause here and try to work out why yourself before reading on…

To show why this is true, I started by letting $\mathbf{a}$, $\mathbf{b}$, $\mathbf{c}$ and $\mathbf{d}$ be the position vectors of the vertices of our quadrilateral. The position vectors of the midpoints of the edges are the averages of the position vectors of the two ends of the edge, as shown below.

We want to show that the orange and blue vectors below are equal (as this is true of opposite sides of a parallelogram).

We can work these vectors out: the orange vector is $$\frac{\mathbf{d}+\mathbf{a}}2-\frac{\mathbf{a}+\mathbf{b}}2=\frac{\mathbf{d}-\mathbf{b}}2,$$ and the blue vector is $$\frac{\mathbf{c}+\mathbf{d}}2-\frac{\mathbf{b}+\mathbf{c}}2=\frac{\mathbf{d}-\mathbf{b}}2.$$

In the same way, we can show that the other two vectors that make up the inner quadrilateral are equal, and so the inner quadrilateral is a parallelogram.

Going backwards

Even though I now saw why the surprising fact was true, my wondering was not over. I started to think about going backwards.

It’s easy to see that if the outer quadrilateral is a square, then the inner quadrilateral will also be a square.

If the outer quadrilateral is a square, then the inner quadrilateral is also a square.

It’s less obvious if the reverse is true: if the inner quadrilateral is a square, must the outer quadrilateral also be a square? At first, I thought this felt likely to be true, but after a bit of playing around, I found that there are many non-square quadrilaterals whose inner quadrilaterals are squares. Here are a few:

A kite, a trapezium, a delta kite, an irregular quadrilateral and a cross-quadrilateral whose innner quadrilaterals are all a square.

There are in fact infinitely many quadrilaterals whose inner quadrilataral is a square. You can explore them in this Geogebra applet by dragging around the blue point:

As you drag the point around, you may notice that you can’t get the outer quadrilateral to be a non-square rectangle (or even a non-square parallelogram). I’ll leave you to figure out why not…

Andrew Stacey – What’s the time, Mister Wolf?

Knowing the right time can be a difficult task. At the moment, I’m having trouble remembering what day it is let alone the number of milliseconds that passed since midnight. Fortunately, computers can do these things without getting distracted. But even there the answer is not always completely obvious.

For a program I wrote recently I wanted to know the time very accurately. I was messing around with making a clock and wanted smooth transitions for the seconds counter, meaning that I needed to know the time more precisely than the nearest second.

There was a snag, however. The environment that I was using didn’t have a single clock that I could use. It had two clocks, neither of which did by itself what I wanted. One clock told me the time, but only to an accuracy of seconds. The other clock measured in milliseconds, but only told me the time elapsed from the start of the program.

Think of one as a normal clock where you can see the hours, minutes, and seconds but no more, and the other as a stopwatch that has been started at some random juncture.

My question was: How could I use these to tell the time?

Obviously, I wanted to take the hours, minutes, and seconds from the clock. Those were accurate – in fact, there is presumably a more accurate clock inside the device that I was programming which ensures that what this clock tells me is correct. It is the milliseconds that cause the difficulty.

Clearly, if I knew the value of one clock at a significant moment for the other then I could use that information to calculate the number of milliseconds in the current second. For example, if I knew the precise time – to the millisecond – that the program started then I could just use that together with the number of milliseconds since then to get the precise current time.

Or if I knew the number of milliseconds at which the clock ticks over from, say, $18:42:24$ to $18:42:25$ then I could use that marker to adjust the milliseconds to know the precise current time. If that happened, say, at $48134$ milliseconds since the program started then I know that the seconds tick over when the stopwatch reads some thousands and $134$ milliseconds, so I simply take the current millisecond reading, say $78341$, subtract $134$, $78341 – 134 = 78207$, then drop the thousands to result in the current millisecond reading, in this case of $207$.

This suggests a strategy: watch the clock and at the moment that the seconds change on the clock note the time on the stopwatch.

But there’s another snag. It’s as if I’m blinking when I look at these clocks so I don’t notice the exact moment that the seconds change. All I can do is notice that they’ve changed since the last time I looked. Admittedly, I’m “blinking” at about sixty times a second, but to get an accuracy of milliseconds then this isn’t fast enough.

It’s time (ha ha) to deploy Math.

Let $a$ denote the actual number of thousandths of a second when the clock clicks over from one second to the next. In the example above, we would have $a = 134$ (but in the program we don’t know what value this is). Every time the program blinks we note the time on the clock and the stopwatch. We are looking for a time when the seconds change on the clock. When this happens, we make special note of the time on the stopwatch and the previous reading on the stopwatch before the change. Let’s call these $b$ and $c$, with $b$ the previous reading and $c$ the current reading.

Now the actual time on the stopwatch when the clock ticked over will have been some thousands plus $a$. That is, there is some $d$ such that the time on the stopwatch was $1000d + a$. So we have the inequality:

\[ b \lt 1000d + a \le c \]

which we can rearrange to an inequality for $a$:

\[ b – 1000d \lt a \le c – 1000d\]

So when the clock ticks over we get an interval in which $a$ lies.

Every second, therefore, we get new information on where $a$ can be found. We keep a running record of our current “interval of knowledge” and when a new interval comes in then we intersect with the current interval to update it.

In the specific circumstance, our intervals are roughly $\frac{1}{60}$th of a second in width. If we assume that they are uniformly distributed, subject to the constraint that they contain $a$, then we can consider an interval of width $\frac{1}{60}$ to be determined by its lower limit which must lie in the interval $[a – \frac{1}{60}, a]$ so we can model this by a random variable uniform on that interval.

Then given a family of such $X_{i}$, our current “interval of knowledge” is found by intersecting all the intervals $[X_{i}, X_{i} + \frac{1}{60}]$. As we intersect these, the lower bound is the maximum of the lower bounds of these intervals and the upper bound is the minimum of their upper bounds. So our interval of knowledge is:

\[ \left [ \max (X_{i}), \min (X_{i}) + \frac{1}{60} \right ] \]

Its width is therefore modelled by:

\[\min (X_{i}) + \frac{1}{60} – \max (X_{i}) = \frac{1}{60} – (\max (X_{i}) – \min (X_{i})) \]

Now life is always easier if we standardise to $[0,1]$. So let us assume that $Y_{i}$ is uniform on $[0,1]$. The distribution of $\max (Y_{i})$ is $n y^{n-1}$ where $n$ is the number of readings. This comes from differentiating the cumulative distribution, starting from the fact that:

\[ P(\max (Y_{i}) \le y) = \prod P(Y_{i} \le y) = y^{n} \]

So the expected value of $\max (Y_{i})$ is:

\[ \int {0}^{1} y n y^{n-1} d y = n \int {0}^{1} y^{n} d y = \frac{n}{n+1} \]

and of $\min (Y_{i})$ is $1 – \frac{n}{n+1} = \frac{1}{n+1}$. Therefore, the expected value of $\min (Y_{i}) – \max (Y_{i}) + 1$ is

\[ \frac{1}{n+1} – \frac{n}{n+1} + 1 = \frac{1 – n + n+1}{n+1} = \frac{2}{n+1} \]

Rescaling to the $X_{i}$ simply means multiplying by $\frac{1}{60}$.

So we expect that our ignorance about $a$ to be approximately $\frac{1}{30(n+1)}$ after $n$ seconds. Since we’re reading milliseconds, we should have a good idea of $a$ when $30(n+1) \gt 1000$, or $n \gt 33$.

After half a minute, then, we should have a good idea as to where $a$ actually lies and we should then be able to get a fully accurate time, including milliseconds.

Of course, there are implementation issues. What should we do before we know $a$ accurately? And if we update our knowledge and so refine our estimate of $a$, do we change in a snap or should we change gradually? There’s also an issue of how to correctly convert our readings of $b$ and $c$ into the interval for $a$ since we have to subtract $1000d$ but don’t know what $d$ is. But these are mere technicalities.

By combining our knowledge, we’ve upgraded our seconds-accurate clock and milliseconds-accurate stopwatch to a milliseconds-accurate clock. So I can make my fancy display clock have nice transitions between the seconds.

BTS ARE THE SEVEN SINS AND THE GIRLS ARE THE SEVEN VIRTUES

I remember jumping onto a theory that was circulating during HYYH era that the boys represented the seven deadly sins, and honestly it makes a lot of sense.

This goes hand-in-hand with the theory that Jin is stuck in limbo.

So, each boy represents a deadly sin, and the girls represent a virtue, which cures the sin. I’ll add on evidence and such with it.

THE SINS

Lust = Jimin; uncontrollable passion or longing

In “Lie,” Jimin is reaching out for someone

In “Spring Day” MV he carries around shoes; in the choreography, he is reaching out to J-Hope in the beginning, and then to Jin at the end

I also want to point out that Blood, Sweat, and Tears has biblical references (statue of Mary and Jesus, the war of angels and demons paintings, the Last Supper, etc.) and the quote “He too was a sinner”.

I think Jin is stuck in Limbo because he gave into temptation (BST might take place right after prologue and I Need U?? He was being tested). Now, he has to “cleanse his sins” but it’s not going the way he wants to and therefore has to go through it again and again (the fact that 30th August was brought up twice in the videos, and how visibly tired he looks, changing out of the same shirt as before).

Anyway, this is just a theory!

Martina Navratilova explores issues faced by trans athletes in BBC documentary

Former champion Navratilova says it bothered her that her previous comments hurt people

Martina Navratilova says the struggles faced by trans people are too often underestimated and wants sport to change its rules so trans athletes are not excluded.

The 18-time Grand Slam tennis champion was criticised earlier this year after using the word “cheating” when discussing whether trans women should be allowed to compete in women’s sport.

She later apologised but was dropped as an ambassador by LGBT sport body Athlete Ally.

Now the 62-year-old has made a BBC documentary exploring the issue.

For the film, The Trans Women Athlete Dispute with Martina Navratilova, she meets and discusses trans women in sport with a range of athletes, trans women and scientists.

“What I have come to realise, the biggest thing for me, is just the level of difficulty trans people go through cannot be underestimated,” she says.

“The fight for equality and recognition is just huge.”

She tells Trans Media Watch founder Helen Belcher: “I hurt people with my comments – that bothers me. I campaigned all my life for LGBT rights.”

Later she adds: “That being said, still for me the most important thing in sports – and we have to remember trans rights and elite sport are two different things, although of course they are connected – what’s the right way to set the rules so that everybody feels like they have a fighting chance?”

As well as hearing the experiences of trans athletes, she explores the science to find out whether trans athletes have a competitive advantage in women’s sport.

“It feels to me that it’s impossible to come to any real conclusions or write any meaningful rules until more research is done,” she says.

“But for now I think we need to include as many transgender athletes as possible within elite sports while keeping as level a playing field as possible.”

Sociologist Ellis Cashmore tells Navratilova sport will have to change in the same way other parts of society are adapting to gender fluidity – but admits he has been struggling “to figure an alternative”.

“I don’t think women’s sport will look the same in 10 years’ time,” he explains.

“I think a great many sports are going to have to come to terms with the fact they are going to have to mix sports – in other words, dissolve the binary completely and just say they’re open.”

“Society has changed so much. The rules certainly need to evolve,” Navratilova agrees.

“If you don’t adapt, you’ve got problems. So we’ll keep adapting and try to find a happy way forward.”

The Trans Women Athlete Dispute with Martina Navratilova will be shown on BBC One at 21:00 BST on Wednesday, 26 June and will then be available on BBC iPlayer.

Richard Fowler found many unexpected obstacles and frustrations when he moved to the land of the red flag Photo: Getty 10:14AM BST 08 Oct 2015 1: The televisions are not on the blink After a long day at work in Shanghai, where I ran a window decor buying office, I would look forward to unwinding with a relaxing evening in front of the telly. Our TV had a very irritating habit, however, of intermittently shutting off, for just two or three minutes at a time, say once every three or four days. I noticed the same thing happened to the TV at my gym. Over a few pints with my friend Dominic, I complained about the irritating shortcomings of Chinese TVs. Dom chuckled and said: “What were you watching in the gym when the TV suddenly lost reception?” –– ADVERTISEMENT –– “A CNN report on speculation that Norway might give the Nobel prize to a Chinese human rights activist,” I replied. “And when the TV went off at your house two nights ago?” “A BBC World interview with the Dalai Lama…” The penny finally dropped. “Oh, I get it!” If someone had just told me about the intrusive censorship before I went to China then I wouldn’t have wasted so much time worrying about defective televisions. 2: Choose your topics of conversation carefully In the West we are usually at our indignant and argumentative best when criticising government policies and the politicians behind them. You should be aware, however, that criticising the Chinese government goes down like a lead balloon in the PRC. • Expat problems: how to cope with the biggest ones The indoctrination in school and from the state media is very strong so if you are foolish enough to embark on a political conversation take care to remember the following: Tibet has always belonged to China and the Dalai Lama is a troublemaker. The population of Hong Kong are a collection of Uncle Toms who were both delighted and relieved to be reunited with the motherland in 1997. In the Second World War, the Japanese were defeated by the Chinese. The Americans did not fight the Japanese; however, if you push, it will be conceded that the Americans did drop a large bomb. The Japanese are the devil’s spawn. The spontaneous uprising of the people to go and stone the Japanese consulate (actually orchestrated by the Chinese government) is fully justified therefore. 3: Be prepared to ditch your favourite clichés Following on from above, you really do need to reconsider how appropriate your favourite throwaway lines are, now that you’ve moved to China. One of my favourite retorts on being told that I couldn’t or shouldn’t do something was to say “Why not? It’s a free country!” A few months into my China posting I was persuaded to abandon this line and find a new, more appropriate retort. Unfortunately, “I acknowledge the need for a socially harmonious society and accordingly, I shall therefore temper my instinct to selfishly pursue my own interests,” just doesn’t have the same ring to it. This policy was intended to bring about huge savings in energy costs, though of course the realities of this diktat are ridiculous. For example, just a few miles to the north of Shanghai, the public buildings are toasty warm throughout the winter. However, in Shanghai itself, people are expected to happily shiver through freezing winter temperatures. 5: Familiarity might breed contempt We tend to think that the repressed British are hardly a demonstrative bunch. Well compared with the Chinese we are almost French. As a foreigner in China, it is best to keep your behaviour as formal as possible, at least until you know someone really well. • The perils of French kissing I remember on arriving in Shanghai my wife, recognising a close colleague of mine, greeted him with a peck on the cheek. He was dumbfounded and just didn’t know where to look. Remember, an overly friendly greeting might make your Chinese friends and colleagues feel uncomfortable and could even cause offence. 6: It's not PC in the PRC "China makes the racist, sexist 1970s look like afternoon tea with Polly Toynbee" You’ll need to put your Western liberal sensibilities to one side and “man up”. For example, a colleague once showed what appeared to be genuine sympathy for the poverty suffered in many African countries. “It’s not their fault,” she exclaimed. “They’re just not as clever as us.” 7: The Chinese don’t do modesty To the Chinese, humility is a puzzling, alien concept. I used to enjoy the two-mile walk from my house in Honqiao to my office in Gubei. To my surprise I was confronted about this apparently harmless practice by several of my colleagues who chided me: “If you walk, people will think you are poor. They will think that you cannot afford a car.” 8: Manners maketh man The overwhelming majority of Chinese people don’t do manners. I am unsure as to the reason behind this. Someone once told me that when the Communists came to power, Mao labelled manners as bourgeois and consequently those with good sense dropped their manners overnight for fear of being perceived as a class enemy. • Are you an offensive expat? Whatever the real reason, the sheer rudeness on display can take the breath away. Be prepared for spitting, queue-jumping and being barged out of the way. The city outlawed spitting, queue-jumping, littering and other conduct likely to tarnish its image ahead of the 2008 Olympics, with fines for the offences, but the habits remain rife across the country according to our writer Photo: Getty 9: Don’t drive Most expat postings, particularly in China, come complete with a car and driver. Some expat employees even have to sign a contract stating that they will never drive themselves. On the roads here, it’s every man for himself and whatever you do, you should never show consideration and never give way to any other driver. It shows weakness. Any outsider wanting to drive in such an atmosphere of anarchy would surely need his head examined. I am that man. I went out on the roads no more than seven or eight times. These proved to be terrifying experiences. After just a week or so, I hung my keys up for the duration and threw my newly acquired licence away. 10: Travel narrows the mind You may arrive in China with noble thoughts about the family of man, with your liberal certainties intact and a Guardian folded under your left arm. Unfortunately, experience soon corrects you. After a few months subsumed in a society where nobody says please or thank you, people routinely slam you out of the way in their hurry to get out of the lift, drivers beep furiously and try to run you down if you foolishly think the zebra crossing gives you some sort of right of way, where the loud rasping clearing of the throat is inevitably followed by the well directed spit… well, you get the picture. Before you know it, you are a committed cultural imperialist, clinging to the humane comfort blanket that is the expat bubble. You will gather in all the Western bars, and compete with others as to who has suffered the worst ‘China moment’ - the one that causes the usually calm and collected expat to 'lose it'. Some people hate the China experience and long for the day when they can get away. Others are seduced and want to stay forever. But one thing is certain: every expat experiences a China moment. The Queen was a healthy 22 year old at the time, and she went on to have three vaginal births at home following a c-section. The Queen was almost 38 years old when Prince Edward was born and it was considered a geriatric pregnancy or advanced maternal age. The only birth that Prince Philip was present for and witnessed was the birth of Prince Edward. He held the Queen's hand and was with her throughout the labor and delivery. She read about it being the new thing to do in a magazine. Princess Diana was not the first British royal to give birth at the hospital. The first was actually the Queen's daughter, Princess Anne.
