hotvintagepoll Hot Men Tournament rundown thoughts
I promised a final recap post and here it is! I'll try to cover the questions I saw the most as we closed out the bracket, reveal my ✨secret faves✨, and talk about the biggest surprises and turnarounds I saw in the brackets.
Yes, this will get silly.
ROUND 1
As I've mentioned before, I worked off submissions for who to include in the bracket, so if your fave was missing—that's why. I used submitted pics when I could, but many submissions didn't have one, so I tried to find decent ones in the couple of days I had to prep the first round (I didn't always succeed). By decent, I mean pics where 1) I could see the hot man's face, so not too much moody lighting, and 2) hopefully conveyed something about his vibe, even if it was a funny thing (yes, I showed Howard Keel in full Shakespeare get-up—I'm not beyond putting up a pic because I think it's funny). I didn't know all of these hotties going in, so some I had to guess with, but when I could I tried to pick shots that had a touch of the humor, class, or genre of the hot man.
For Round 1 and Round 2, I grouped the hotties by each decade, so only '60s actors ran against '60s actors, '50s against '50s, etc. Male beauty standards shifted pretty dramatically over the sixty years this tournament covers, and I didn't think it was fair to pit dramatically different styles of beauty against each other immediately.
I pitted hot men against each other based on opposing energies—hot vs cold, elegant vs rough, comedy vs drama, etc.. I wanted the polls to be interesting and I've never liked brackets where everyone is clearly in different "lanes" until the finals! I also wanted to make polls where I couldn't tell which way they would swing, so by setting matchups that felt opposite but equal, I got to be surprised by the bracket results too.
The only reason we had any three-way matchups is because the amount of men submitted didn't round to a nice bracket number. I don't like them generally and find them really hard to balance.
Secret faves from Round 1—I am a James Coburn girlie and knew he would die immediately, so that was not a shock but a bummer. I similarly knew Robert Preston is only magical to people who have seen him do His Little Dance Routines in That One Iowa Musical, but it would have been nice for him to last longer.
Surprises—Jeremy Brett was a last-minute add and I didn't think he really had a shot, so I put him in as a third wheel on the Sean Connery/Dean Martin matchup. Little did I count on the Granada girlies. (Always count on the Granada girlies.) The Elvis/Peter Falk poll was the first one to gain any momentum—Elvis was winning for the first 24 hours but then, my god, did Peter fight back. I didn't expect the Tab/Toshiro poll to make that bad a mincemeat out of Tab—people have different tastes, and I thought the people who like blonde sunny All American white boys might turn out for The Blonde Sunny All American White Boy. Sorry, Tab. I hope you've peeled yourself off the sidewalk by now. And, of course, I was SHOCKED and APPALLED that James Cagney would be obliterated by, of all people, Mr. Bing Crosby.
SHADOW BRACKET
The fervor of the Harold Lloyd and Fredric March people inspired the shadow bracket, and I couldn't be happier at the way it's gone. You were right, the original photos I had for them did suck. Cunty Harold Lloyd in his little life guard uniform was a revelation.
ROUND 2
For Round 2 I'd gotten a better sense of who was doing well and who was not, so a little of that came into play, but I mostly paired on vibes again. (I genuinely think this is a good way to make a fun, challenging bracket.)
Secret faves—Noooo not hot dilf Dick Van Dyke don't take my hot inventor dilf away uwu!!! (He was up against Marlon Brando. I would have been shocked if he'd won but for a minute there, a glorious second, it was possible.) I am also a big old softie for David Niven's particular brand of repression to the point of volcanic rupture, but he is one of many hotties who does not look good without moving and speaking so I figured he would be going.
So much beef—hey! hey you. I ran a poll asking if we are horny for dancers. Yes, was the resounding poll response. Where, then, did all the fucking dancers go? This round we lost Donald O'Connor, Fred Astaire, Harold Nicholas; Sammy Davis Jr., Danny Kaye, Frank Sinatra, and Bing Crosby all sneak into this category as well, by token of having been in the kind of big MGM bang-a-pan-and-put-on-a-show beloved bedlams we all watch at Christmastime. Round 2 voters HATED musical matchups. Except for one.
The one—SOUND OF MUSIC, the voters said, WE LOVE SOUND OF MUSIC. we will KILL the man responsible for salad dressing because of the SOUND OF MUSIC. every other dance man can die but THIS man dances a FOLK DANCE with JULIE ANDREWS in a GARDEN. I did not go into this poll with strong opinions about Christopher Plummer or Paul Newman but my god did I leave having heard all of them.
Surprises—James Edwards/Anthony Perkins matchup was a nail biter! Conrad vs Oscar kept me up at nights. Surprised to see Basil Rathbone survive against Sabu Dastagir—both very fetching, but Sabu had some top-tier propaganda. Cesar Romero put up a surprisingly stiff fight against Cary Grant (an omen for things to come).
Oh horrors—horror heroes surprisingly fell all over the place. I was sure either Bela Lugosi or Turhan Bey would sweep their three-way matchup, but Michael Redgrave of all people carried through; Boris Karloff went down against Johnny Weismuller (while holding hands with fellow fallen hottie Fred Astaire), but at least we got his guacamole recipe before he went. Delighted to see that the Venn diagram of the coalitions who support horror hero Vincent Price and funny lil guy Donald O'Connor is a circle.
Secret faves pt 2—oh yeah, I fucking love Danny Kaye and Donald O'Connor. RIP funny lil kings.
ROUND 3
For some reason this was the hardest one to make matchups for. Oh no, all the men are hot.
Secret faves—Michael Redgrave i love you SO much you're SUCH an idiot, how did you make it as far as round 3. I want you to sweep the whole thing but you should NOT be surviving this. I love you, here's a kiss, go home.
Surprises—Marlon Brando is gone! Errol Flynn is gone! Christopher Plummer exhausted himself beating the organic oreos man to death and goes out with a whimper. Beginning to actually see the roots of #mifunesweep as Tyrone Power, a hot man very different from Burt Lancaster, who was in turn very different from Tab Hunter, also gets swept under the wheels of the unbeatable toshirobus. Conrad Veidt finds that no amount of purring svelte eccentricity compares to the people who will fuck a young Lt. Columbo.
SHADOW BRACKET 2
Cannot believe it but Veidt loses this one too. Perkins sweeps and becomes Prince of the Shadow Realm!
ROUND 4
At this point I've set a formal bracket that I'm following.
Secret faves—this isn't secret anymore, but losing Jimmy Stewart hurt.
Surprises—The Gene Kelly/Jeremy Brett matchup was the diciest one all round, moving back and forth between the two by sometimes .01%. Far more surprising, however, was Cary Grant getting eliminated before the quarterfinals. Grant has never been my type, but he is famous for being THE type, so while the writing had been on the wall the whole tournament—how on earth did Michael Redgrave even get 36% in his matchup?!—seeing Grant go down was a SHOCKER. Other fallen hotties included Gregory Peck, James Dean, Harry Belafonte, and Sessue Hayakawa. Peter Falk finally met his match in Omar Sharif.
QUARTERFINALS
Secret faves—I don't know if it counts as a secret fave, tbh, as my horses in the race really went out with Stewart, but I do have a soft spot here worth mentioning. Here's my childhood dog, Keaton.
Tumblr media
The resemblance is truly striking, and yes, he was short, fast, and not prone to smiling.
Surprises—I couldn't predict how any of these matchups would go down, but I was most interested in Keaton vs Sharif, as they are both SO hot in SUCH different ways.
SEMIFINALS:
This was such a good batch of semifinalist contestants. By this point I think we could all tell Mifune was unstoppable (though I thought Sharif might give him a run for his money), but I really didn't know which way Robeson vs Poitier would flip.
FINALS:
I wanted Sidney Poitier to pull a last-minute sweep out of nowhere, but alas, Toshiro is just THAT GOOD (maybe. I will admit that I find Toshiro's domination a little hard to believe, given the variety and hotness of all his competitors; the man is hot but all these men are hot). I'm still happy with how the tournament went.
FINAL MEDITATIONS:
Biggest shock of a dropout: the loss of Paul Newman
Biggest "you people have no taste": the loss of James Cagney
Biggest victory: Paul Robeson making it to the semifinals over often-assumed champion Gregory Peck
Biggest coalition who deserve justice: dancing men
Biggest ask character: vents anon (currently eating Laurence Olivier)
Biggest, uhh, anything: how many of you are here! I genuinely thought it would be me and 10 other people voting for the whole tournament. I'm thrilled it took off like this!
I think that's everything, but I'm happy to answer addl asks. And THANK YOU to everyone for your tags, rants, impassioned propaganda, beautiful pics, and love for the hot men! See you for the ladies!

The Rules of the Cosmere
And by “rules,” I mean tropes that crop up repeatedly in Sanderson’s books, that one could consider “rules” in a nonserious, please-don’t-take-this-too-seriously type way.
Spoilers for pretty much all of the Cosmere!
1. Don’t feed the children
As seen in: Elantris, Oathbringer, Warbreaker
If you see a hungry, homeless child in a Sanderson book and you’re tempted to, say, give them food--don’t! Raoden tried that. And the poor child was horribly mangled by the men who wanted that food. Shallan tried it. And it turned out the child was being coerced into accepting the food by gang leaders--who ended up killing the child. Vivenna didn’t exactly feed them willingly, but the urchins did, like, beat her and steal her food while she was living on the street. So that wasn’t great.
Exception that proves the rule: Stump. She fed lots of orphaned children, and she was only almost killed. So the message is: if you want to feed the children, have a Lift around to protect you.
2. Once Marriage is On The Table, Breakups Don’t Really Happen
As seen in: Mistborn Era 1, Mistborn Era 2, Stormlight Achives, Elantris, Warbreaker
Once characters get to the point of marriage, be they engaged or in an arranged marriage or just solidly A Thing, it is rare for them to break up. Sometimes a breakup is floated--like when Adolin told Shallan she could go ahead and leave him for Kaladin or when there was Wax/Steris tension or when Zane tried to break up Vin and Elend--but in the end, the original relationship tends to hold strong. Siri and Susebron were married before they had even met, but they ended up happy together. Even “death” couldn’t stop Sarene and Raoden’s engagement--Sarene did try to marry someone else, to be fair, but that second marriage did not actually happen and the original marriage reigned supreme.
Exception that proves the rule: Elend’s first engagement did not work out. Vin killed the fiancée. So it is slightly riskier to be engaged if you’re not a viewpoint character, if you’re secretly evil...or if you’re in Vin’s way.
Although...did Elend and Shan actually break up, or was their engagement only canceled by Shan’s death? I guess either way, it didn’t work out!
3. Your enemy will save you...if the sexual tension is high enough
As seen in: Elantris, Rhythm of War
Perhaps appearing in two books isn’t quite enough to call this a rule...but if I had a nickel, etc. Hrathen was Sarene’s enemy...but in the end, he kinda fell for her and ended up killing himself to save her. And in a strangely similar manner, Raboniel used her dying moments to save Navani...after Navani was the one to kill her. Then there’s Lewshi and Kaladin--neither sacrificed themselves to save the other, thank goodness, but Lewshi does help save Kaladin and/or his men on several occasions and their romantic tension is off the charts.
Exception that proves the rule: Even sexual tension doesn’t seem to be enough for Moash to not try to drive Kaladin to suicide.
4. Your fave is (accidentally) queer
As seen in: Stormlight Archive, Mistborn
Sanderson has a tendency to write characters that he innocently believes to be straight...until readers point out how incredibly not-straight they are. Take Shallan, who is as bi as the day is long--which Sanderson admitted, I believe, once it was pointed out to him. Veil is canonically into women, at any rate. And Sanderson has said that both Shallan & Adolin would be open to adding Kaladin as a third, so Adolin is presumably bi as well, to no one’s surprise. Many readers--me included--read Kaladin as some flavor of ace, although again, that seems to be unintentional, canonically speaking. There’s also Lewshi, a woman inhabiting a male body, whose transness is not really talked about as such but is very present. And in Mistborn, there’s Wayne and his gender-fluid SO MeLaan, a queer relationship that I don’t think is ever really identified as such.
And yes, there are also canonical queer characters in actual queer relationships, but so many more seem to be accidentally queer.
Exception that proves the rule: Sanderson insists that Moash is canonically straight...somehow.
5. Don’t trust the underling priest!
As seen in: Way of Kings, Warbreaker, Elantris
If there are suspicious things going on, look no further than your nearest, seemingly loyal underling priest. In Way of Kings it was Kabsal, who turned out to be an assassin. In Warbreaker, the seemingly helpful and awkward Bluefingers tried to sacrifice Siri on an altar. And in Elantris, while Hrathen never exactly trusted Dilaf, he did believe that he had him handled...which turned out to be a mistake, and Dilaf ended up being one of the big bads. The big bad? It’s been a while since I read Elantris.
Exception that prove the rule: Kadash seems like a good dude. I will be genuinely shocked if he tries to, like, murder Dalinar or something.
6. Hoid is there
As seen in: All of them.
Hoid has a supernatural ability to be present at all important moments in the Cosmere, so he can expect to find him in whatever book you’re reading. If there actually are Cosmere Rules, this would have to be one of them.
Exception that proves the rule: I don’t think he’s in all of the Arcanum Unbounded stories--like Shadow for Silence or Sixth of Dusk. So maybe if your story is short enough, you can escape Hoid?
It could be the only way.

[Project] (KH)Re:born!!!
I've been wanting to do a pinned post talking/rambling about my projects, so I'll do it now while I've still got some free time!
Anyway, for various reasons including wanting to keep it simple (for goldfish brain reasons), @amiahoshi and I decided to call this project "Katekyo Hitman Re:born!!!". We call it either Re:born!!! or KHRe for short. I also tried editing a title logo out of it some time ago (inspired from the og logo) for whenever it will be necessary!
Tumblr media
Actually, I've just been tagging posts under this project under #khre (since mid-2023) because when I type #khr, I'll immediately remember to also type #khre. Anyway, more info below! (Ein from the future: it will be long)
Note: For any typos/grammatical mistakes, sorry not sorry this is just me rambling, so no beta we die like Tsuna did every time Reborn shoots him in Daily Life Arc.
TLDR: This project has become like my creative sandbox playground. The KHR brainrot is still going VERY STRONG, and has been for the past two years. I can't believe I didn't discover this series earlier. I am so normal about KHR.
It's also inspired from T//oky//o Gh//oul's title, where it had "T//G:re". And it really just emphasizes the "Re" on "Reborn", meaning "again, do over".
In KHR, besides being named after our fave baby hitman Reborn, this concept also connects to a lot of the themes in the show, especially with Tsuna and his Dying Will Mode. Then there's also the whole Vongola 10th generation, who seem like the reincarnation or the "second coming" of the Vongola 1st generation. I'm sure there are others I haven't noticed yet or just forgot to mention here!
Anyway, KHRe is sort of a similar universe to canon, but not exactly the same. There will be additional characters, which are mostly our OCs from the Oniyanagi yakuza family for now, then there will also be modifications/additions to the story/lore as well (e.g. certain arcs/chapters will be rearranged, certain events will happen earlier). Tsuna retains his protagonist role in KHRe as well (im so fond of him), but he will also be joined in this role by the twin bosses from Oniyanagi, Kana and Kurumi.
Kana and Kurumi's addition here really puts the emphasis on the "Re", because their individual overarching stories provide more interpretations to the word itself "Reborn", which adds onto Tsuna's.
The tldr of the premise so far is that Oniyanagi and Vongola are business partners, so shortly after Tsuna met Reborn and Gokudera, the twins and Yui (their right-hand man) transferred to Namimori. This is so that they can help each other to grow and with their respective training as well to become future bosses of their Family (Tsuna doesn't want to become one of course! lol).
Along with Kana & Kurumi, three of their guardians (incldg Yui) tagged along with their move to Namimori, while two of them remained in their previous city of residence (Tokyo). In their guardian line-up, they currently have an empty seat for the Sun Guardian and they're still actively looking for the one fit for it. Perhaps they'll find them in Namimori? (Spoilers: Yes, they will. Their full line-up is here.)
So far, the major ambitious projects I have under this one are as follows:
Tumblr media
Oniyanagi Wiki: This is a wiki site I made in Miraheze. I'll put it in public mode once I finish cleaning up Kurumi's character profile. We plan on compiling all character/group/story infos here for KHRe, which will also include AUs and alternate timelines. If there will be a lot of story divergence with certain canon characters, we'll also make a page for them there too (from the top of my head, so far, it will be Tsuna, Hibari, Enma, Kyoko & Haru). This is the project I've made most progress on so far, I learned a fair amount about making wiki pages hahaha.
KHRe Webcomic: A webcomic that features KHRe's story. Just like canon, it starts with Daily Life Arc. Right now, I'm just thinking of drawing intro chapters for Kurumi, Yui and then Kana for it. But I'm also tempted to just go full-fledged webcomic retelling of majority of KHRe lol like just for deadass committing to the bit. I just really think it will help me improve my art a lot because it will force me to draw other stuff I haven't tried to seriously learn how to draw before (like have you seen the improvement in TOG Webtoon's art style??! Damn...I want that too.) KHRe also has stories that continue past KHR's final arc. I want that high school, TYL and alternate future timeline content too y'know! I think I want to finish drawing at least one chapter by Q4 2024, I'll have a lot of time to focus on this after my exam on June.
Into the Looking Glass: This is a Horror RPGMaker game in the planning stage and it features a prequel story for Kurumi's childhood (around 8-9 years old). Long story short, it does follow the classic formula of a small kid exploring a scary/creepy place by themselves. Don't worry, she will also have a companion or two here! (So...just like Ib.) The title is very much still subject to change, but I referenced Alice in Wonderland for it. Because it's Baby Kurumi (Alice) stumbling in an otherworldly place (Wonderland) and the events that take place moving forward changes her life. I already have a plot and ending(s) in mind, just need to write a script. This will take a very long time to complete, but I wanna finish it eventually because I'm also a big fan of Horror RPGMaker games and I've always wanted to make one (this is my chance! I alr have a story! Just need to write and execute it!). Here's a very old concept art of the baby! I'll draw a new updated one when I get the time (the only biggest change here will probably just be the eye pupils, which really isn't much).
Tumblr media
KHRe Test Game (no title yet): Less ambitious than previous three. This will be a very short RPGMaker Game with Tsuna as MC. This is just me testing and learning the features of RPGMaker before I go do more work for Into the Looking Glass. The game is just about Tsuna being invited to the Ninomiya Estate by Kurumi and he has a very "fun" time there 😂👍✨ (just like a normal Daily Life Arc episode~). It won't be horror, but maybe for Tsuna it will be 😀 So far, I managed to make a map for Tsuna's room (and some other parts of the Sawada Residence) for the intro scene hehe
Tumblr media
As for other projects that are less ambitious and more doable in a shorter time, I do have MV Projects for KHRe plus a few shorts (like this one) I plan on drawing them in. I listed my priorities here (along with the major projects) and will try to update when I can (ideally, at least monthly...but definitely not for June 💀).
That's all for now! THANK YOU FOR COMING TO MY TED TALK!! (seriously...because this turned out so much longer than I thought it would be 🗿...I will now proceed to hide under the rock again).
Any questions are always welcome and very very appreciated! 👀✨I really just love talking about this series, OCs (mine and others') and my projects!

I know you're currently on a YJ bender (which, fair, your thoughts on trans Superman and not-trans Kon have me by the throat) , but I was wondering if you have any Clay Kids crumbs to share? I've been rereading it again and. It is still destroying me
Aw, ty, friend, "clay kids" is one of my more-fave things I've written. ❤️ Haven't worked on it in a bit, alas, but have an excerpt from the next chapter!
They don't find Jet. It's a big city, yeah, but there's only so many places he really goes in it. The fact that they can't track him down . . .
Smellerbee really, really doesn't like that fact.
"Maybe he just went home," she says doubtfully, because that's the last place she can think of that they haven't checked. Lee doesn't say anything. He hasn't said much the whole search. He looks grim and frustrated and ready to snap.
At least she definitely knows he likes Jet, she guesses.
"He might have gotten sick or something?" she tries, although he definitely wasn't acting sick this morning. Not that Jet usually acts sick no matter how sick he actually is, but still. Smellerbee knows him well enough to know when he's not feeling well.
"He never skips the teashop," Lee says tersely.
"I know," Smellerbee sighs, because yeah, Jet probably would've gone there even if he were sick. He is . . . way too invested in Lee. To put it mildly. "Maybe he got stuck at a job. Or maybe Song needed him."
"He was looking for that damn bison," Lee says. Smellerbee frowns.
"Maybe he found it," she says skeptically. Lee gives her an incredulous look. "He might’ve! It's a big city. Lots of things could be here."
"Including the Avatar," Lee says darkly. Smellerbee has never heard anyone spit the word like that, except maybe Jet after their plan with the damn dam blew up in their faces.
"Apparently," she says.
Lee looks angry. Lee looks angry a lot, so it’s not something new, but . . .
“What’ve you got against the Avatar?” Smellerbee asks with a frown. She knows Jet’s problems with him, and she’s got problems of her own, but why the hell would Lee even care that the guy existed? Mostly just the people who expect him to fix everything do, and Lee really doesn’t strike her as that type.
“Nothing,” Lee says flatly, which is a screamingly obvious lie. Smellerbee frowns again. That . . . is really weird. Okay, yeah, Lee’s three-quarters, but . . .
He doesn’t know Aang, does he?
“He probably didn’t, anyway,” she says, still eyeing Lee a little skeptically. He doesn’t look any less upset. “It really is a big city.”
“He’s such a damn idiot,” Lee bites off, clenching his fists. Smellerbee assumes he’s talking about Jet, but maybe he’s not.
“Let’s try the apartment,” she says, deciding not to touch that one with a ten-foot pole. That’s a Jet kind of problem, whatever it is. That’s the most Jet kind of problem she’s ever seen.
“Fine,” Lee says, and stalks past her. Smellerbee brings up the rear. She doesn't feel great about this, but she already wasn't feeling all that great about things, so whatever. They're looking for Jet, not a bison or an Avatar or anything else. That's really all she cares about.
Jet’s been all she cared about more than once in her life, so at least it’s a familiar feeling.

Spark's Art Commissions
Commisions are: OPEN
Tumblr media Tumblr media
What I Draw
All Fallout, all the time. I've played every Fallout in existence (except that Tactics/BoS bullshit) and I love them all - yes, even 76. Fair warning: I'm less well-versed in Fallout 1 & 2, what with it having been a couple decades since I played either.
Interested in non-Fallout art? Doesn't hurt to ask.
Who I Draw
Your Fallout OCs and fave companions. As long as it's a character I can find enough reference for online, I'm good.
Looking for more examples of my work? Here they are.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Prices
Tumblr media
More details on what I will and won't draw, what I need from you, and other details below the cut.
Payment is currently only available through PayPal. I'm looking into other payment options, such as Ko-Fi.
What I need from you
your faceclaim(s). If they're not someone I can easily google, I will need a few clear photos from different angles. Don't have a faceclaim for your OC yet? This is a great place to start looking
in-game screenshots are sometimes useful, so include those as well if they look anything like your OC. I will always prefer real human reference though, so please give me a faceclaim!
basic details: height, build, age, hair color/texture/style, eye color, identifying marks, etc etc etc. For companions, give me your headcanons on any details not provided in-game (or if you headcanon something differently), or I'll use my own if you don't have any
what outfit(s) they wear. If it's vanilla/Creation Club/Atomic Shop, just the in-game outfit names will usually do (i'll tell you if I need more)
any personality traits, background info, or quirks you want to share are absolutely GREAT and help me breathe a little more life into a character
if I'm drawing them with a companion, tell me a little about their dynamic
Will draw:
your Fallout OCs
their companion(s) (including ghouls)
weapons
some blood/gore/injury
sfw romantic content
Difficult areas:
curly hair - I'm trying, I'm learning, but it's harder and might take me longer
Super Mutants - haven't tried yet, but it can't be that hard
artistic nudity/pinups: I'm really out of practice, I make no guarantees
Won't draw:
anything racist/queerphobic/transphobic/bigoted/etc
minors
backgrounds. There's a reason this is a serparate, specialized job in animation and comic studios
nsfw romantic/sexual content (I don't have a problem with it, it's just way outside my wheelhouse. I'm learning.)
excessive blood/gore/injury (again, outside my wheelhouse)
creatures (same reason)
IMPORTANT LEGAL STUFF
What you get
high-resolution digital art in PNG format (A4 at 200dpi for busts, A3 at 200dpi for half body and up, suitable for printing for personal use only)
If you'd like me to crop you an isolated closeup of your character for use as a profile pic, I'm happy to do so at no extra charge
What you DON'T get
the right to modify, redistribute, sell or in any way profit from the work or products derived from the work (you can share it on your socials or post it with your fanfic and that sort of thing, but you can't sell stuff or give things away with it). The 'no redistribution' rule does include gifting. If you're interested in, for example, printing stickers with my art to hand out at comic con or something, please contact me.
copyright/intellectual property rights. It's still my original artwork. As such, I am free to modify and distribute it in any way I see fit, including for profit.

Can I be a little bitch for a second and complain about something...
(Also because I haven't written a post in a while, lol)
People that hate Damian Wayne's character are weird.
Like, let me make something clear first: people are obviously allowed to dislike Damian as a character for wtv reason (although, it is better when the reasons that people dislike him for come from actual canon and not fanon, and it's not because of, ya know, stuff like racism...).
However, it's really hilarious (in a dumb way, sorry not sorry) when I see fans of Jason and Tim specifically (which is funny, considering I'm one as well) shit on Damian as if he is like a little monster that did the most horrible shit imaginable just because in the stories he first appeared in, in main canon, he did some questionable actions, such as cutting Tim's line. But most of the time these same people almost never talk about what were Damian's reasons to do this and some even say stuff like "Jason was justified in shooting Damian that one time./It was satisfying to see the brat being shot by Jason." or something else like that.
And I sit here like: excuse me but WHAT THE FUCK??
Look, I get the argument "these are fictional characters written by adults, so it doesn't matter that Damian is a kid, he still did messed up things" to a certain degree. However, it still doesn't change that they are still writting a child. And just because some of you people don't like Damian because he is a brat, that doesn't mean you can completely ignore (or outright make up/change) the context surrounding Damian's character, while at the same time giving characters like Jason Todd, that at the time Damian was introduced in Post-Crisis did way way more messed up shit, justifications such as "it's bad writing", "it's classist", "Jason has trauma".
WHEN THE SAME/SIMILAR FREAKING REASONS APPLY TO DAMIAN'S CHARACTER AND WRITING AS WELL!!! Aka, "bad writing" (that can be everywhere for any character, not just for Jason, duh), "racist writing" (unfortunately), "Damian has trauma" (yes, yes he was. And he came with some fucked up baggage of it when he first met his father, just like Jason did, why do some people ignore this just because of Damian's heritage or something).
ALSO: some people sure love to forget that there is a big ass difference between "Damian is a 9-year-old that grew up in an assasssins cult, and thus he isn't familiar/adjusted with his dad's world and rules" and "Jason is a grown ass man that keeps hurting other people because of his trauma, including people that have nothing to do with his trauma to begin with" (*cough* Mia Dearden *cough*, *cough* The Titans *cough*; also, opposite to Damian, he didn't grow up being taught to kill people, lmao). So, like, idk dude, they all have messed-up trauma and you don't see all of them going on killing sprees and torturing innnocent people because of it...
Like, I love Jason, I love Tim. But I don't hate Damian, Dick and/or Bruce, just because in certain situations they wronged my faves. Also, it's good to recognize that the faves messed up too. That they hurt other people. I mean, why the fuck do some of you people justify Jason (especially him) and Tim's wrong actions to the moon and back, but don't extend the same courtesy to other characters in similar situations... like, it doesn't seem fair or make that much sense to me...
Like,, really, I'm sorry but people saying in the same breath that "Jason deserves to be understood on his violence because of his trauma" and "Damian is evil because he tried to hurt people" (also because of trauma, btw) are kinda hypocritical, sorry (not sorry actually).
(Also, why tf do some people make "who is the most traumatized Batboy" type competitions that usually downplay the trauma of the Batboys/Batfamily members they don't care about or like?? The point of the Batfamily is that they all are messed up people that came together by chance and because they share similar trauma and desire to help others, while at the same time being a dysfuncional mess of a family. Like, that's the fun part. And ya, that also means they have to have moments where they get along and recognise when they fucked up. And all of them had situations where they fucked up and hurt others. There is no "100% innocent/justified" member in the Batfam. All of them fucked up big time at some point, okay?? And that is part of what makes them interesting characters. Like, sorry for ranting so much but I don't understand people that act as if their favourite characters can never do any wrong or did any wrong when they actually did...)

guys i really, really like the noodler's Ahab flex pen
like, a lot
like, enough I'm recommending it even though i know half of you will hate the smell so so so much
(the baking soda soak recommendation i found really reduced the smell significantly, highly recommend)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
it's juicy enough to use my driest ink, too! which is a relief.
makes me want to try their music nib next.
to be serious though, the things I like about this pen include but are not limited to:
it feels nice to hold - the resin is warm and it feels like it's just a tiny bit soft while being really really sturdy in the hand, and it's a nice big pen for me without being heavy
the nib writes really smooth at the thinnest and it's not too bad at it's thickest either, tho I admit that that takes a lot more force than my hand is good for right now in any sustained way
even though I'm not able to exert enough pressure to get the full Flex without a fair amount of strain on my part, a) remember that I have a half paralyzed hand doing all of this, so your mileage may vary, and b) just the light line variation I get with natural writing with it is so appealing to me, I can't overstate it
and it's just so juicy, it lays down a lot of ink, and I know that that can be actually a problem in a lot of people's experience, but I adore it
and the clip looks like a whale! how incredibly nerdy! I love it when my pens are nerdy.
have you tried one? do you have a fave Flex pen? should I go for one of the zebra nib adapted pens next, or should I try out an architect or blade nib instead?

hello liv! thank you for your service to the fandom, i spend such an inordinate amount of time sifting through all your reclists! i’ve been seeing drarry authors do their first line/last line posts for patterns and was wondering how that might pan out for reccers, so i had a question for you— what are some of the fics you find yourself reccing most often, across lists? do they speak to your own tastes? does a pattern emerge through them about the kind of asks you get? you always rec a really diverse range of fics but i do see some recurring favourites cropping up and was wondering if you had thoughts on it!
Thank you for your kind words and for the ask, anon! This was a very interesting way to adapt that ask game to my blog and I appreciate you for including me 💜 I had to take a minute and think about this because despite knowing that I’ve recced some fics over and over across lists, I’ve never stopped to analyze it in detail. Taking a quick look, I’ve tried to identify some patterns and I think these examples offer interesting insights:
1) I Am Not Who I Became and A Sword Laid Aside - two long fics I mention a lot (often alongside each other) because they combine some very popular tropes: recluse & powerful Harry, competent Draco, forced proximity, fast smut + slow emotional burn, D/s undertones
2) Clear as Mud and Unfinished Business are two personal faves I don’t see in rec lists often, they’re more like old-ish hidden gems and I love getting the chance to sneakily include them!
3) Take the Moon and Life goes not Backward: two favourites written by my friends! Funnily enough, they’re both kid fics which is a trope I don’t really care for lol. Reccing friends is one of my biggest pleasures in fandom, I’ve seen a lot of criticism/questioning around it which makes absolutely no sense to me - appreciating each other’s work and finding things in common is what brings us together in the first place 🤷🏻‍♀️
The main reason why I include any fic on a list is because I believe it’s a good fit. I always try to get a sense of what the reader is looking for bc it helps me find the right tone, but it can also get challenging if the request is too vague or too specific. Because I publish lists on demand I try to be as trope agnostic as possible, but at the end of the day I can only rec what I’ve read and enjoyed, so this will always be a subjective process (which I love! Imo rec lists are special and unique exactly because they are personal).
Back to the pattern discussion, I think seeing the same works mentioned on a regular basis reflect not only my own preferences but the ways it matches some emerging trends among the readers who follow me. Now the blog’s been around for a while and I don’t rec as much as I used to, it’s fair to assume that those who stick around have found in my blog similar tastes and fandom approach. In the last couple years I’ve noticed more requests around themes such as powerful Harry, competent Draco, bi and gay awakening, or fics where they take care of each other, bond over shared trauma and redeem or heal together. I think those reading trends are largely influenced by writing trends and vice-versa (especially in the Tumblr bubble!) so in a way we’re all collectively setting those trends and de-constructing or giving new meanings to old perspectives. That’s the true transformative power of fandom! Love that for us 🙌

my 5 favourite k-pop music videos <3
I love music videos, and in k-pop there are a lot of mildy shitty ones, but there are also some amazing ones that are just as iconic as they are aesthetically pleasing. Obviously budget will come into play here, so big 4 groups will be more prevalent on this list, but I tried to be as fair as possible, within reason. Also, I'm a girl group stan, so don't expect many boy groups. Obviously I will forget some, but maybe I'll make a part two, and you are very welcome to leave your fave mvs in the rbs or comments. This list is in no particular order, lets gaur
1. 'Feel Special' - TWICE (JYP Ent.)
Tumblr media
This music video inspired this list, and for good reason. 'Feel Special' is in my opinion, the epitome of Twice, as they stand today. It encapsulates their more mature concept post 'Yes Or Yes', but it doesn't alienate their debut cuter concept, it rather welcomes it with open arms and celebrates it as a part of Twice's history, something their newer releases occasionally struggle with. Visually its a feast, its decadent and lavish, and positively gorgeous. Each member has her own movie-esque set, employing various genres and aesthetics, and then the members unite in the most glittery set ever concieved, the gold contrasting their raspberry and champagne outfits magnificently, while also referencing the group's official colours, as seen on their lightstick. The whole video is cinematic and opulent, and every detail, down to Sana's dip died pink hair, and Nayeon's stunning ginger curls which I wish she would bring back, is flawless. The only gripe I have is Chaeyoung's unblended foundation in her solo scene, but hey, we aren't all be perfect. My favourite scenes in this video are the afor-mentioned glittery golden arches group scene, as well as Jihyo's rainbow vintage television scene, that was surprisingly ahead of its time in terms of its retro aesthetics. It's a must-watch music video for the history books, and it's Twice's best song too - it deserves no less.
2. 'Why Not?' - LOONA (BlockBerry Creative - ew)
Tumblr media
Note: If you would like to watch this m/v, please stream it from a non official yt channel, in accordance with the boycott. They will usually be marked with 'Boycott Ver.' in the title or something similar.
Loona has a lot of amazing music videos in their arsenal, but 'Why Not?' goes above and beyond. It's one of the most visually striking music videos I have ever seen, and its grasp on colour, composition, and rhythm is completely unparalleled. It's vibrancy is just gorgeous, full of neon lights and shining metallics. The video exists in a constant state of dichotomy: both cool and warm, metropolitan and pastoral, manmade and fantastical. You would assume this would ruin the video's visual message, but the contrast actually enhances it, as well as furthering the group's lore. it's unafraid to experiment with aspect ratio and camera movement, and along with the subversive editing, the final product is unique as well as timeless. Who cares that the last five scenes were neon and retro-futuristic? It's time for Heejin and Hyunjin's black and white minimalist mildly 1920s suited up dance break with a 4:3 aspect ratio of course! As the song itself says, why not? It's as playful as the song, as well as being visually stunning. My favourite scenes include Choerry's upside down mirror moment with the neon lights, as well as Kim Lip in the field with the funky glowing orbs, and of course the cult circle on the moon scene. Fucking iconic.
3. 'Ditto' (Sides A & B) - NewJeans (Ador)
Tumblr media
Note: I have a full review of this song, if you are interested.
Where the other videos on this list are overwhelmingly vibrant or cinematic, 'Ditto' is understated and personal. Arguably one of the most influential k-pop music videos of all time, it breaks every rule of what a music video of this genre looks and feels like, rejecting glamour and high fashion for an unromanticized schoolgirl aesthetic surrounded with melancholy. It's heartfelt and unassumingly tragic, and truly makes the viewer yearn for a time they only half remember. It is one of the most beautiful pieces of cinema I have ever seen, and I am so happy that K-pop stans loved it to death as I did, despite how starkly different it is to most everything in k-pop before it. It does however remind me of f(x)'s '4 Walls' m/v, which isn't a shock as Min Heejin (ew) was their creative director also. It also has vibes of the cult classic (?) Japanese movie 'All About Lily Chou Chou'. It has sparked many trends in the industry, including but not limited to: b-roll interspersions, the typical schoolgirl aesthetic, and the general rejection of the polished, glitzy vibe we expect of k-pop idols. Their impact on trends is notable, but in my opinion, no one has executed this aesthetic to the standard that NewJeans has. The unassuming tragic beauty of 'Ditto' is difficult to put into words, you must go and watch the two music videos for it - they are life changing.
4. 'Kill This Love' - BLACKPINK (YG Ent.)
Tumblr media
Say what you will about Blackpink, but they KNOW how to do a music video, and 'Kill This Love' is one of their best; it is beyond extravagant. The sets are huge and striking and insane - Jennie floats on the heads of two enormous swans and all four girls dance in the middle of a huge fucking BEAR TRAP and its ridiculously cool. The fashion and styling is amazing too - my fave looks include Jennie's Lara Croft moment with the braid, Lisa's big ass fur coat from her cereal scene, and Jennie's gorgeous eye makeup from her shopping scene with Lisa. In a word, 'Kill This Love' is extra(vagant). Even the scenes that are conceptually ordinary - Lisa's cereal aisle, Rosé crying in her car - are elevated into the extraordinary. There is no real storyline or through line between the scenes other than their saturated colour palettes and the members themselves, but who cares? The members look like fucking goddesses, the dance looks amazing, and there are MULTIPLE jaw-drop moments throughout the runtime - what more do you want? Where 'Ditto' rejects the typical k-pop visual aesthetics, 'Kill This Love' epitomizes them. If I wanted to explain to western pop stan what k-pop is about, this is the video I would show them first. My favourite scenes include: the group scene with the exploding statues and the bad bitch combat outfits, Rosé caught in the storm with beautiful lighting, and THE BEST SCENE IN A BLACKPINK MUSIC VIDEO EVERRRR... Jisoo's goddess moment with the sun and the reflections. Nobody does music videos quite like Blackpink.
5. 'What Is Love?' - TWICE (JYP Ent.)
Tumblr media
This music video is so unbelievably special to me. It doesn't break any boundaries with camera movement, editing, or aspect ratio like 'Why Not?', and it doesn't entirely reinvent the typical k-pop music video like 'Ditto' either, but I think it is one of the best music videos ever because it is so FUN. 'What Is Love' is a music video that is a series of references to iconic movies, most of which being about love, as the title suggests. It harkens back to 'La La Land', 'La Boum', 'Pulp Fiction', 'The Princess Diaries', and many more, with the girls playing the characters, on their fictional discovery of what love truly is. It's so special to me because it reminds me of doing exactly what the girls are doing with my best friends and my big sister - trying to learn what love is from the movies is something almost everyone has experienced, and thus the whole video feels nostalgic both for its references, and for its overall concept. It's fun and lighthearted and a memory of simpler times. Oh, to be a 12 year old obsessed with 'The Princess Diaries' again, to be a tween watching 'Pulp Fiction' with your big sister when it's probably not age appropriate, to be young teen watching 'La La Land' right when it came out. What a time to be alive. That's what 'What Is Love?' is, it's a celebration of life, of growing up, of being just a little naive and knowing it. Iconic, truly.

The results of my "Why does Maverick wear his watch like that?" poll are in, and you guys are the wrist worst. (Thanks for that, autocorrect.)
The #1 response with 32% of the votes was, like what? which is fair. (And I'm about to explain.) The #2 response was, Carly, I'm starting to think you don't know how to wear a watch, which is RUDE (but possibly not wrong. We're going to talking about that, too.) The #3 (and only HELPFUL) answer is a tie between, he is smol and, it's not his watch (keepsake).
So, here's what I'm talking about. I noticed this when I was looking at reference photos for a very long time while drawing the serval Iceman comic.
Maverick wears his watch very low on his arm:
Tumblr media
There are often reasons for people habitually wearing a common accessory in a way that deviates from the norm. (My personal fave is wearing the watch upside down with the face against the veins in your wrist. Snipers and special ops wear them this way so light doesn't reflect off the watch face and give away their position, and so they don't have to turn their wrist while holding a gun to check the time.) So I wondered about that. I also wasn't 100% sure about whether there were rules about how to wear your watch.
It turns out there are.
Tumblr media
According to people to whom fashion and/or etiquette (I guess??) are very important, your watch face should sit on the ulna, beneath the little bones in the wrist. (I highlighted where the ulna begins (teal), and then kind of did a lateral cross (yellow) to show where the watch would sit.)
Tumblr media
This seems to be a lot more of a Thing for men, and you can see in men's watch ads (and on David Beckham, wearing the watch he models but in a better picture than I could find of one of his ads) that they tend to stick to the rule. (Leo's might be a little high, actually.)
Tumblr media
Women's watch ads (top row) tend to also stick to this placement, but in fashion editorials (bottom row), they're often worn much lower.
Tumblr media
(Like a tennis bracelet, which hangs looser on the arm, for those of you who wondered why I included that option in the poll, and those of you who are Young and had no idea what a tennis bracelet even is.)
Tumblr media
@academicgangster posited that Maverick's choice—and I imagine that's all it is, personal choice—is because it's a large watch for him (because he likes it that way, or because he is smol, or because it's a keepsake given to him by someone larger), and because it's the sexy way to wear it. Totally fair!
But as I was spending a stupid amount of time putting this post together, I wondered something else: How does Ice wear his watch?
Iceman Kazansky, what the fuck.
This is a disaster. In the first three frames (Top left and right, bottom left), Ice's watch is positioned correctly and looks like it fits him properly.
But then there's the last frame. WHAT IS THAT?! That watch is hanging down around his wrist like a tennis bracelet. I was under the impression that your watch fit you, Ice! What am I looking at here?!
Tumblr media
As for whether I know how to wear a watch: I don't wear a watch. I've tried it in the past, but I've never really found one I liked keeping up with, largely because I don't care to spend real money on a wristwatch. It's not worth more than, like, $19.99 to me, so. I do wear bracelets. I bought these cuffs as my birthday present to me, and I wear them almost every day.
Tumblr media
If they were a men's wristwatch, they'd be a little high.

Nr. 20, puzzle shipping, coffee shop AU! 💕
Oooohhhhh a coffee shop AU! Yessss. I love them so much. One of my fave AU tropes honestly.
Thank you for the ask friend ^.^ I hope you enjoy the little drabble which includes a very trying Yugi and a hopelessly useless Atem. <3
20: "Are you single? Just, uh, asking for a friend."
.........
The guy came into his coffee shop every day at the same time. Yugi always expected him, could plan his day around when this guy would show up because he was just that predictable.
He was part of Yugi's daily routine, he just knew he'd see him.
So when the door opened that morning, the bell rang cheerfully and Yugi looked up to see him, he thought everything would go exactly the same as it always did.
He was wrong.
See, Yugi had been crushing on this guy for weeks, he'd even tried to gauge the other guy's interest a couple of times…but each time, the attempts just fell flat.
He was sure the guy was interested in him, sometimes he got the feeling that he wanted to say something more to him but he just didn't.
Of course they exchanged general conversation, and from that he'd learned where the guy worked, his views on gaming…all the important things, but when it came to flirting, well.
It was like the guy just didn't get it.
Or if he did, he was just really good at playing dumb.
Either way, Yugi had been trying to subtly ask this guy on a date for weeks, and every attempt hadn't worked.
He was about to launch into his usual good morning speech when he realised that the guy had other people with him that morning.
A taller man with long dark hair and an expression which was hard to read but suggested he was already done with the day, and a girl a fair bit shorter than him, with long black braided hair and brightly coloured clothing that seemed to match her bright smile.
Strange, this guy usually came alone.
No matter, Yugi could still talk to him as he usually did he was sure.
"Hi, how are you today?" He asked happily, smiling warmly at the guy in front of him.
"Uh, good, you?" The guy's answer was short and Yugi thought, uncharacteristically nervous , but he didn't let it bother him. He maintained his warm smile.
"Great, I'm glad to see you, as always." He said, testing the waters once more and hoping this guy took the hint barely hidden in those words but he didn't respond immediately.
The girl in bright clothing nudged the guy with her elbow, seemingly snapping him out of whatever thought he'd been lost in.
"Oh…yeah." The guy said awkwardly. "Thanks."
Hmm. He was hoping for a little more than that but whatever.
He saw the girl roll her eyes and took that as a good sign, he was sure Jou and Anzu had done exactly the same when watching some of his attempts at asking people out.
"Oh, anytime." He said with a laugh. "Anyway, what can I get you?"
After the most awkward ordering session of his life, Yugi made the drinks, handed them over and watched as the guy and what he assumed were his friends took a seat far from the counter.
He smiled to himself as he went about his other tasks, occasionally looking over to the guy who had so effortlessly captured his heart.
He remembered the first time he saw him, he'd been angry with the universe for not putting this guy in his path before now.
The guy was just his type. About his height, tattooed, snake bite piercings and leather jacket. He dressed nice, he looked nice, he smelled nice.
Yugi wanted him, and he'd honestly never wanted something so badly in his life.
He glanced back over to the table and saw that the three people there were all leaning close together, talking about something which must be important.
He wondered what they were talking about…
The hot guy suddenly looked up at him and he smiled, unsure of what else to do but his smile was returned by the other and he felt his stomach turn nervously.
This guy had to be into him. Please, god, let this guy be into him.
He reluctantly looked away when another customer wanted to be served and by the time he was done with the order, the guy was back in deep conversation.
With a sigh, he resigned himself to doing his job.
He was halfway through re-stocking a fridge when a voice distracted him. "Hey, can I talk to you for a sec?"
He turned to find the guy he wanted to talk to more than anyone else and he smiled.
"Of course." He said happily.
The guy looked relieved, leaning against the counter as he laughed softly and Yugi was intrigued.
He felt as if something had changed, like this was important.
Yugi leaned forward expectantly, eager to hear what the guy wanted to say to him. This was it, he was sure. This was the moment he'd know whether or not he had a chance.
The guy smiled, glanced over his shoulder nervously and then turned back to him.
"Are you single?" The words which left the guy's mouth almost stopped his heart.
He could hardly contain his excitement. He'd been right! This guy was interested in him, he did want to make a move on him, and he was ecstatic.
Now, how did he respond in a normal way?
The guy in front of him shifted awkwardly as his hands left the counter, one reached up to rub the back of the guy's neck..
"Just, uh, asking for a friend…" The guy said awkwardly, looking away from him and Yugi's heart fell into his stomach.
No.
This wasn't happening. This couldn't be happening.
Maybe it was a joke? Yeah, probably. This guy seemed like the type.
"Oh…um…" He chanced a look past the guy, toward the table he'd been sitting at with two others. "Which friend?"
The guy seemed stunned by the question and he waited patiently, watched the guy open his mouth, close it, open it again, rub the back of his neck and chew his lip.
Surely this guy wouldn't be so awkward if he was asking about a friend…
He really hoped that his gut was right.
"Uh…" The guy looked up at him shyly and took a breath. "I might have fucked up."
"...Okay?" He said, unable to contain his amusement.
The guy laughed breathlessly and Yugi smiled.
"Would it be okay if I just walked away for a sec and then came back and tried this again?" The guy asked, his expression was hopeful, his eyes desperate.
"If that's what you'd like to do." He said with a smile. "I'm not going anywhere for a while yet."
"Thank you." The guy nodded, then he turned and walked away.
Yugi watched him go back to the table where the others sat, saw them all say something quietly, the woman with the long braided hair even shoved the guy back away from the table.
Once the guy turned around to face him again Yugi looked down at the counter, pretending that he hadn't been watching.
"Hey." He heard that familiar warm voice and looked up.
"Hi there." He said happily.
"I've been coming here for a while now and I really like you, so I just wanna know, are you single?" The guy asked quickly.
"You're not asking for a friend, right?" He said softly.
"No."
"Just checking." He said with a smile. "Then yes, I am single, and I really like you too."
"Really?" The guy asked, laughing softly again. "Oh that's such a relief. I was really hoping I hadn't read everything wrong."
Yugi laughed quietly, shaking his head and placing a hand over the guys on the counter.
"If you'd have been reading the signs, you'd have realised that I'd been flirting with you for weeks." He said.
"Oh fuck." The guy groaned. "Really? I'm such an idiot, god."
"You're cute though." He said.
"You're cute." The guy shot back and despite himself, Yugi blushed. "Yep, definitely cute."
"Shush." He said, pulling his hand away from the others. "Can I ask you a question now?"
"Sure."  The guy smiled at him.
"What's your name?" He asked, laughing and tapping his name badge. "I mean, you already know mine so it's only fair. I can't keep calling you 'hot guy' after all."
The guy laughed and chewed his lip, leaning against the counter again.
"Well, I mean, you could. I sure as hell wouldn't mind that." The guy said with a wink. "But my name is Atem, if you wanna use that instead."
He laughed and leaned against the counter too, a soft smile on his lips.
"Well then Atem, I think we should exchange numbers so we can talk when I'm not working." He suggested.
Atem nodded eagerly and pulled out his phone, sliding it over the counter to him and asking him to add his number.
As he typed in the numbers he really had to try to keep himself calm because this was what he'd wanted and he was finally there.
He handed the phone back with a soft smile and Atem left him with the promise that he'd call later.

While I was making Weavile, I had the idea that I wanted to see what Sneasel's GSC palettes looked like on Weavile, since they're pretty much the same color as Sneasel. They actually looked pretty good, all things considered. I figured I could make a whole post showing off some of my favorites.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sentret looks not too different in this palette, but Furret actually looks fantastic! Furret was one of my favorites to work on and with the dithering could maybe pass for a gen 2 sprite if you weren't paying that much attention. Very fun shape that came together very quickly.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sneasel Actually has 2 radically different palettes (well, 4 including shiny) between Gold/Silver and Crystal. A lot of pokemon have subtle palette changes, but Sneasel's is the most notable change; I Tried to reflect that here. I also made a small edit to the GS palette sprite, to more reflect their gemless, but including the chest spot appearance from the revised GS sprite from the international release (the original japanese release does not include the chest spot at all); just for fun :3.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I had fun here too and edited the gem out of this one as well. I think they look pretty good. I amped up the dithering when I realized I could do this palette swap. Mixed success; I think I could have taken a few notes from Crystal's Sneasel and made the dark gray dithering on the red parts white and be a little better with more careful placement, but aw well (also, the claws are kinda backwards-looking and I couldn't figure that out in time either don't look too hard at them!). They and Sneasel also have a fair, but less, chance of being confused for a real GSC sprite than the others, I think.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I think my Vaporeon sprites (the second one, Dissy, is from @harmonyfriends 's) are probably the one's I'm most proud of from my Eeveelution project, maybe my favorites overall so far. Not too different in this palette, but this whole post is kinda an excuse to show off some of my faves :3. It's my favorite sprite to mess around with palettes on and I also tried using the Crystal Sneasel palette on Dissy and it made her kinda look like Mr. Do. Idk if there's anything to be gained with that knowledge.
Tumblr media
Jolteon didn't transfer as well, kinda eye-hurtingly sharp colors, owtch! I'm still real proud of the form and they're a real cutie, but I could have done better with the coloring/shading part of the process.

Special Round: Kill!!!
Tumblr media
It look like you found the secret poll! Or not so secret, after all, it's not very well hidden. You probably just scrolled a bit, and people are probably going to spread this around when they find it, or you could be awake when this poll is scheduled to release. You know, people have this false idea that poll runners are supposed to remain impartial. I vote in all of my own polls of course, but that's not too agregious, especially since I can't see how they're going without doing so. I included characters I'd never heard of before, and included ones that I felt I had to for whatever reason, but I also favored my own faves quite heavily. In fact, Ford replaced a character I had written my own submission for. It was the only one though, the rest are all organic, grass fed, and hand selected. Of course I tried to organize my matchups based on what seemed fair to me, but I ran into a problem: nearly every character I'm rooting for is losing. I severely overestimated and underestimated several characters. Finger Creature's losing, Aaarrrgghh is losing, the cake team is losing... Even Smallfry, the blog's mascot, was losing before people campaigned for him. I probably won't have any kind of revival round even if I do want them back in though. I wasn't planning on it from the start, but I'm a bit frustrated now that the turtle, who I had a grudge on long before he started winning polls, keeps coming back. Maybe If I have an empty spot for whatever reason, or do something weird for no reason. Anyways, this one's a bit different, you're voting for the character you wish to kill. That means the character with the least votes will continue in the main bracket. The other one dies, and is the only competitor to do so. And don't forget! It needs to be Springtrap Baby. For my sanity please please kill Springtrap Baby. I'm begging you. I need it obliterated. Good luck! Did you know I can read pretty fast? The same cannot be said about my writing. This took hours.

I finished re-reading Dis Manibus for the hundredth time, and it’s still 100/100. You made me enjoy Luke as a character, and I think you really highlighted his compassion and gentleness, which not all stories do well. I also loved the Thryce, of course.
Two questions, if you don’t mind: 1) At the end, is Luke coming to like Pryce due to the residual influence of Thrawn, or does he genuinely like her as a person? Maybe a bit of both? 2) I vaguely remember a sequel being mentioned on your blog. Do you still intend to write one someday?
Thank you so much for this amazing note @mireilleblue! So happy to hear Dis Manibus holds up on the rereads!  And your words about Luke and Thryce just turn me into a puddle of happiness.
I do not mind questions at all (I love asks!) and in this case you gave me an excuse to talk about a fic that is a fave!  It was such an unexpected story that really wrote itself, and it was a real pleasure to get it on the digital “page.”
I am putting the answers to your questions below the cut because there be spoilers if anyone hasn’t read the fic! Anyone who would like to, please come back later and... 😊
So to your first question, the answer is definitely “a little bit of both.”  My idea was that Luke, being Luke, can see the good in everyone, including Pryce.  Early on, he believes she can be reformed and forgiven, even if she doesn’t see that as a real possibility.  He admires her resilience and skills, and because he is so compassionate, he tries not to judge her for the sins of her past (even though he does have initial reservations about it, he is able to trust in the Force enough to let them go).
But when he wakes up after hosting Thrawn, there is most definitely some spiritual residue coloring his perception, as you know.  Our first hint is this line:
“Something twinged inside him, an immediate sense of concern. Luke wasn’t quite sure where it came from.”
And then it continues to manifest in subtle ways, from being warmed by her compliments, his reaction to her touch, the way he knows how she wants to argue as if they had done it “a thousand times”, etc.
Luke has the presence of mind to recognize these traces of Thrawn, and while Pryce doesn’t understand it, she also obviously senses something isn’t quite right when he “sounds like” Thrawn.
Poor Luke, complicating his own life to help others (he’s good at that).  But as the ending indicates, he’s ultimately at peace with how things turned out.  However, my intention with the last line regarding Luke’s dreams.was to suggest that Thrawn’s psychic residue may be quite a bit stronger than expected.
Now…about that sequel...
I think at this point it’s fair to say I probably will write it. I went into a lot of detail about it in this old post below (another wonderful ask from @beebee-76) that you can read if you would like spoilers for what is to come.
If you don't want to spoil it, I'll give some more general thoughts:
The point of Dis Manibus was, as I mention in that above post, to get Luke and Pryce to hook up…that was my original and only intention, and well, you can see that didn’t work out (not that I am complaining!  I love when stories write themselves).  But I do feel like there is more to Luke & Pryce's story, especially now that we know a little bit of Thrawn’s influence and love has seeped into our handsome Jedi’s soul.
So the sequel would explore that.  When I came up with the concept for the sequel, fully formed like Athena from the head of Zeus, I decided “well, if I just type it up for everyone on the Thryce Discord, then I won’t have any more desire to write it.”  Well hah, the joke is on me because this is one plot bunny that is not leaving my pasture, just hopping about, grazing, and reminded me occasionally that there is a rich and emotionally very complicated tale to be told.
In the meantime, if you’d like more Dis Manibus content, I wrote a little drabble from the "someday sequel" here:
and the amazing @blackmonitor did some glorious fanart inspired by it here.
Thank you again so much for this wonderful ask and your kind words—it just makes my week to know you still love it! Readers like you are gifts. Please have this pic in gratitude!

Note
you are now legible the very first inbox fic i wrote!!!!!! featuring two of my faves (vanessa and lute) being goofy in chapter 11 :]
"LUTE!"
Vanessa had just barely ducked her head in time to dodge a fireball that nearly careened with her skull, which thankfully only struck the revenant directly behind her, and was now facing the culprit: a purple-haired mage, hand extended in a clear post-fireball-hurtling position.
“Yes?” Lute responded flatly, as if she hadn’t nearly just torched her pegasus knight companion.
“Could you perhaps exercise a little more caution with your magic?!”
Lute simply shrugged in response. “If you weren’t in the way, I wouldn’t have almost hit you. Perhaps you should be more aware of your surroundings. And besides, you dodged it just fine! So, no harm done.” She quickly moved past a bewildered Vanessa to inspect the remains of the monster.
Vanessa simply could not understand that girl. She was hard enough to read as-is, but this interest of hers only made her more confounding.
Vanessa hated fighting monsters. The inhumane screeches they made upon death, the utter ruthlessness in their strikes, and their tendency to appear in vast hordes… she would count herself lucky if she never had to take a step into the creature-crammed floors of the Tower of Valni again, frankly. And yet, for some reason, Lute was utterly fascinated over these creatures.
Anytime a battle included any sort of skeleton, gargoyle, or some other affront to the Goddess, she would always insist she take place in it. She didn’t do it to smite them from the land for some sort of holy purpose, like L’Arachel seemed to, however. She just… wanted to be near them? Perhaps? Vanessa decided now was as good as a time as ever to get some answers.
“What exactly do you find so… fascinating about those creatures, Lute?” Vanessa questioned, breaking Lute’s apparent deep concentration. “What isn’t there to find interesting about them? You’re telling me the prospect of a stone statue gaining life or a skeleton rising from its grave to wreak havoc doesn’t deserve any sort of looking-into?” She curtly responded.
“That’s… fair, but then why do y-“ Vanessa’s train of thought was suddenly interrupted when she noticed the distinct lack of her javelin in her hands. “Where did it- LUTE!” Her answer came all to quickly as she swiveled around to see Lute prodding at a nearby skeleton with said javelin, giggling slightly as she pushed it away with the blunt end of the stick. Said skeleton was clearly not enjoying this as much as Lute was, as it wildly tried to swing at her with its (mercifully) short sword.
Vanessa quickly snatched the javelin back from Lute’s hands, much to her disappointment, and just as swiftly dispatched the monster, before turning back to the (apparently) aspiring pickpocket. “You’re spending a bit too much time around Colm, I think. He’s rubbing off on you.”
Lute simply gave a mischievous grin as she mumbled a quick ‘sorry’ and went right back to looking through the remains of the smoldering revenant. “…What are you looking for, anyways?” Vanessa questioned as she peered over Lute’s shoulder. “Or do you just dig through monster corpses for f-“ She suddenly earned a shush from Lute, who had apparently found what she was looking for.
Lute rooted around in the mush for a brief moment (thank the Goddess she had gloves on, at least) and pulled out a small, dark crystal that was seemingly buried quite deep in the creature’s burnt remains. She held it in her hands and marveled at it, as if it was a diamond. “Do you know what this is?” Lute asked excitedly as she turned to Vanessa, who was, admittedly, curious. She shook her head.
“This is an Anima crystal! According to a tome I read, it’s the very source of what gives the monsters their life! This is-! I need to show Artur!” As soon as she finished that sentence, she shot to her feet and dashed off towards Artur, practically bouncing up and down as she showed him her ‘find’. He seemed equally fascinated in it. Strange as Lute’s interests might be, as long as she was having fun, there was no harm to it, Vanessa supposed. And she had to admit, the brief explanation over the crystal did pique Vanessa’s curiosity over just how these creatures work… perhaps she could ask Lute about it… preferably when they aren’t in the middle of clearing out a fort full of said monsters, of course. As Vanessa quickly mounted her pegasus to answer Neimi’s shouts for assistance, she felt like she understood the purple mage a little better now.
Vanessa and Lute have reached support rank C
That was adorable I love that!!! Lute is so normal about Creatures!!!

L, N and P for the fandom meme, my dear 😊
Thank you, dear! 💙
L - Say something genuinely nice about a character who isn’t one of your faves (chars you’re neutral on are fair game, as are chars you dislike)
All right, let’s go with Kitty for this one. One aspect of her character I genuinely like is her interest in weird, gory things. I think the moment she became fascinated with Maddocks’s foot (or lack thereof) was the first time I could truly relate to her. That could have been me, 100 %, and I’m sure everyone around me reacted the way the other ghosts did when I told them about that one time I dissected mummified bat skulls under a microscope. So yeah, I love this part of Kitty's character.
N - Name three things you wish you saw more or in your main fandom (or a fandom of choice)
1. More positivity rather than discourse. Every now and then people post about ships or characters they dislike, and I just wish rather than complaining about why there’s so much content for them, they’d use that energy to support the creators who actually make the content they want to see. There’s no better way to encourage a writer / artist / gifmaker than to leave them feedback. Which brings me to point 2.
2. More interaction with fics, art and gifsets. Likes are all well and good but it's reblogs that get works seen and comments that motivate creators to make more. Fandom thrives on interaction so I'd like to encourage everyone to reblog instead of like something and leave at least a little heart or random thought in the tags of the fic, art or gifset to let the creator know they liked it.
3. More gen fics. Granted, I don’t read many fics because I'm always afraid of other people’s ideas influencing my own writing but I get the impression that a lot of Ghosts fics focus on romance (some my own included) and I’d love to see more found family type stories that focus on friendships.
P - Invent a random AU for any fandom (we always need more ideas)
I always struggle with inventing AUs because Coffee Shop AUs and the like don’t really do it for me. For me, an AU only works if it retains at least some of the core elements of the show, and that makes it quite difficult to come up with an AU for something like Ghosts.
But I have recently thought about the potential of a Primeval AU. If you’re unfamiliar with the show, it’s about prehistoric animals wandering into modern time through so-called anomalies. So there's dinosaurs and mammoths roaming the streets, but every now and then humans from the past appear in the present as well. And that’s where our beloved ghosts would come in:
Fanny still gets pushed out of a window by George but instead of landing on the hard ground, she falls through an anomaly and lands in a lake
after Thomas gets shot he staggers through an anomaly and survives thanks to modern medicine
the arrow that hits Pat vanishes through an anomaly before it can reach him. Pat ushers the kids into the bus before he investigates the sparkly thing and gets lost in time
Robin runs from the bear straight into modern Britain
Mary flees into an anomaly when she tries to run away from the witch hunters
Humphrey's anomaly opens below him when he comes out of his hiding place
Julian vanishes from his time while hiding in someone else's bedroom closet - half-naked, of course
Kitty probably went through an anomaly while playing hide and seek
The Captain stumbles upon an anomaly during maneuvers and checks it out (there might just be a possibility Havers does the same in Africa and the two of them to meet again in the future)
the Plague Ghosts cause quite a ruckus when they show up in modern times because, well, they’re infected with the plague. By the time Jemima arrives a few months later, safety measures for this sort of thing have been implemented
Alison and Mike still inherit Button House in this AU. When the government attempts to take the house from them because they need a place for all these misplaced people that’s far away from everywhere else, they strike a deal with them: the Coopers get to keep the house and the government pays them to let the people stay, thus enabling them to repair it
at some point, the government brings them a mammoth - a literal mammoth. Robin is over the moon. Alison and Mike are not. Fanny hopes the next animal will be a sabre-toothed cat.
