Danny opened his mouth and tried to answer him, but he couldn’t bring himself to speak yet. He brought a hand up to his throat without thinking about it. Danny tried to speak again but could only let out a frustrated noise when he just couldn’t form the words he wanted. He could feel his body try to shift a little. Danny snapped his mouth closed when he felt his fangs with his tongue.

“Hey, you don’t need to talk, but you need to breathe okay?” Hood slowly moved to stand in front of him.

Danny tried to take in an even breath and only got more frustrated when it came in as more of a gasp. Danny closed his eyes tight as he felt the green from before threatening to take over his vision again. Why couldn’t he just breathe? He’s not a ghost right now—but Danny isn’t totally alive right now either.

“Shit. Nightingale, you need to sit down.” Hood said, but Danny couldn’t open his eyes to watch as he moved closer.

He jumped when hands slowly rested on his shoulders.

“I’m just gonna move you to your chair okay? Just breathe for me alright? In for three and out for three.” Hood slowly maneuvered Danny until the back of his knees met his desk chair.

Danny collapsed into it and sat with his elbows on his knees and the heels of his hands pressed to his eyes. He tried to follow with his breathing as Red Hood counted out loud, but he ended up gagging when he choked on a gasp. The concern from Red Hood spiked. A gloved hand rested on one of his knees and tapped out a pattern. Danny tried to focus on it and breathe.

He’s not sure how long he sat there before he finally opened his eyes. Red Hood was crouched down in front of him. One hand was on Danny’s knee and the other was steadied on the floor.

“You back with me?” Hood asked.

Danny felt a mix of worry and relief from the vigilante.

Danny nodded and attempted to speak again. “Yeah,” he said roughly.

Y'all laugh at the fact that Tartaglia randomly falling into the Abyss one day as a kid ended up being the catalyst for Fontaine's eventual predicted destruction but all this means is that from the start Tartaglia was intended to fall into the Abyss and become a Harbinger and thus has always been doomed by the narrative

#stopped caring about some things I was caring far too much about #it's another rainy dreary day which means I can wear cozy clothes and curl up with my brother's dog and coffee and a book #little guy and I are just chillin. he's tiny and shorthaired so he gets cold easily and likes to cuddle up #and seeing as I'm the only person home rn... doggo cuddle time it is!!! #I've been reading more lately!! I'm having trouble with tbosas so I got out a couple other things (sea of tranquility included) #that I've really enjoyed. I'm reading turtles all the way down right now and oh boy I forgot how nice a little contemporary #coming of age novel can be at times. also forgot that john green is a genuinely good writer. as in I personally enjoy his style. #let's see... my favorite sound guy for church is home from college for the summer which means THERES SOMEONE HERE #WHO ACTUALLY KNOWS HOW THE SOUND SYSTEM WORKS. me and the other sound guys have been barely #managing the last couple months bc there's been a ton of random technical glitches (the system is pretty old tbh) #so HALLELUJAH THE PERSON WHO ACTUALLY KNOWS WHAT TO DO IS BACK!!!! #I've been branching out into a bunch of things I wouldn't have thought to enjoy lately bc of the time I've been spending #with my sister in law. music and tv shows and even foods and stuff!!! #Gurt is coming to visit me in a week and a day!!!!!! I'm SO EXCITED #and last but certainly not least I gave myself bangs again and honestly I'm so happy about it.
