I've seen some really beautiful xenogenders and want to thank everyone who has coined them. I've still been struggling with mine, probably due to being a non-human femme with no discernible parentage...in a system.

I'm coining snowborn to describe my origins and my current identity. I was born in, and out of, snow. For me, snowbirth has strong associations with bones and with physical hunger, but not everyone will experience it that way. For others, it may describe a snow/ice elemental, someone whose gender changed or was influenced by cold exposure, or someone whose gender is seasonal.

Adapt and expand on this as you see fit. Have fun!

For those who don't know, Xenogenders are genders that have nothing to do with the male-female binary and instead are related to other, outside things.

Technically I'm Genderfluid and I'm only xenogender some of the time but most of the time (including today) I am! Right now I'm icegender, which is a gender that feels cold and separated from emotion. It also feels a little melty.

I can't tell you how helpful xenogender terms are for someone like me with synesthesia. Now, you don't need to be Neurodivergent to be xenogender but an overwhelming number of us are and I do not think that's a coincidence. I know a lot of my feelings surrounding gender are probably related to my synesthesia and in some cases even my OCD and ADHD. I know for a fact that my OCD has made it hard to find and stick with terms but that's a story to another day.

I'm not super open about my gender on this blog outside of nonbinary because in the years that I was I got a LOT of messages from trolls. But I'm opening back up and I really am proud of who I am. If you want to ask me something, please do! If you're xenogender too feel free to let me know!
