Okay so I was talking with my dad about Voltron, (which I do everyday because I have problems)
And I was wondering out loud how Keith had gotten the bombs at the beginning of the first season (ya know, the ones he uses to distract the garrison while he sneaks in to get shiro) and my dad said he got them at those fireworks stands that are everywhere in the country (counter point. Is that just a Texas thing? I’m curious)
This somehow devolved into a conversation of ‘what the hell did Keith eat while he was in the desert’ my dad says lizards. Which coming from a man who has eaten a lizard, makes sense.

ok so the svetlana side of the fandom is very active right now and what better time to say FUCK svetlana’s ending
why does nobody talk about how freelania signed a prenup… when that man dies she and yevgeny are gonna have nothing. knowing her, i don’t doubt her ability to find a way to get that money (i mean that in a good way lol) but like… fuck. that ending sucks ass, and i see it talked about (mostly on tiktok) as if it’s some amazing thing but it really isn’t??

Sometimes I think about how society genuinely rewards hyper-independent behavior. It’s more acceptable to be avoidant and detach than it is to go inward. Wanting connection during a tough time gets met with a lack of perspective. It breaks my heart to see so many people lose their support systems.
And, honestly, I’d say that hyper-independent response has risen due to the pandemic. We were all detached from each other and missed out on intimacy. As a response, there is a longing for connection but a gap in knowledge as to how frequent and how proximal that connection should be.
There’s also a loss of empathy because everyone’s for themselves and have had to be for so long. This is why people are afraid to share their struggles with their close friends in fear of “dumping”. I hate how no one knows the difference between dumping and venting due to these armchair psychologists on TikTok, Twitter, etc. And, yes, there’s a possibility that you can cross the line but avoidant behavior will only isolate you even more and rob people in your life of the opportunity to give you love.
Friends are supposed to be there, and while all of our friends may show up differently, this obsession with extreme avoidance (often disguised as self preservation) is why people have so much trouble keeping their friends in their 20s. Boundaries are always important to discuss because they are the foundation of so many relationships.
At the same time, the key is recognizing these needs while allowing friends to support you in a time of need. The key is taking the time to schedule ~friend dates~ and talks. The key is trusting yourself to trust others, and working on whatever is in the way of that. This is how you nurture closeness…at this age it takes dedication and courage because education won’t always be a commonality to do the work for us. Eventually, we will have to learn proper communication skills and that is only possible if everyone looks in the mirror to address emotional immaturity.
We have to show our friends we love them, we need them just as much as a romantic dynamic. It’s unwise to ignore that humans have always had some form of platonic connection… to convince yourself that that is not necessary is a first class flight to self sabotage.
What I’m trying to say is attachment and detachment must coexist in a balance. An extreme of one or the other is a trauma response. Avoidance truly is suppression disguised as safety in a room full of traps.

Lotf community, how would you feel about a discord server for younger people in the fandom(~13-17)? I remember that age gaps have made people uncomfortable in the past, and I was wondering whether a smaller community server would be helpful. (Idk how long I’ll keep this up, I’m just not sure how to reach this fandom atp)

Once I read that somewhere along the the line of your family history almost everyone has a queer ancestor somewhere. That thought has always been so comforting. I like to imagine he was a trans dude like me, that he liked some of the same things I like: chocolate and trashy romance books and tall boys with pretty hands. When I get scared or start hating myself I think I’m doing this for him.

Kirby franchise has been one of my favorites I’ve been a fan of so far, but I gotta admit (compared to my past fandoms I’ve been a part of) the fandom is slightly less fun for me because the fanbase (from what I’ve seen) does not value fan created content nearly as much as other fandoms. Kirby fandom isn’t exactly small and yet so much fic and art I see won’t get any traction or recognition it’s kinda a shame

I’m rereading The picture of Dorian Gray and personally it’s canon to me that Thomas read it too, cause why wouldn’t he? It fits the time period and we know he likes reading and, you know, it’s Oscar Wilde.
Anyways, given that Dorian is described as a very handsome (and kind of vain) blond guy, do we reckon Thomas probably thought of Jimmy as his own Dorian Gray?

if greg is a wolf in sheep’s clothing then roman is a sheep in wolf’s clothing. all of the posturing, and casual cruelty was a mask, it was a way for him to appear stronger, a way for him to win his dad’s approval. he didn’t want to keep being seen as the weak dog, the one who gets punished, the one who gets sent away. now his dad is dead and there’s no one to berate him for his feelings and his compassionate side is obvious when he is the first to loop connor in, the first to hug his siblings, to keep the peace, and help people like kerry - the other weak dogs

okay this is a very half-baked thought but like The Man With No Eyes that Tai sees is “death,” right? i think that was confirmed in an interview or article, but even if it wasn’t, it’s not far of a stretch to assume that he is. And then Nat is another character who sees an embodiment of death, when she thinks she sees Misty at the party in episode 1 (to reiterate, because Misty ultimately kills her years later. others have edited this parallel). Nat’s “death figure” that she sees relates to how she ends up dying in the adult timeline. And, if the theory that all/most of the adult Yellowjackets will eventually be killed is correct, it could be that something about The Man With No Eyes foreshadows the circumstances of Tai’s death (I hope she doesn’t die but like… it could relate to “sight” … she did almost walk off a cliff because she was sleepwalking and couldn’t see…)
I’m also wondering if other characters see embodiments of death— I can’t think of any examples, but maybe this is just because i can’t recognize the foreshadowing yet. Maybe the dripping sounds that Mari hears and bleeding walls that Mari sees foreshadow her death (a very gory death of being impaled in a pit of spikes and then hung in the air to be bled out, her blood dripping on the snow, anyone?)

TRANS HUNTER REAL?????
People could argue that the patch on his jacket is just stripes but come on, the colouring can’t be just a coincidence. Let’s not forget the part in “thanks to them” when he looked in the mirror and said “even if I’m not who I’m supposed to be, I like who I am right now”. What cis boy looks in the mirror and says this, especially after he cut his hair to a shorter length than it was before. Some may say that he said that because he was separating himself from belos and/or Caleb, and I agree. However it could be a mix of both (and my trans heart wants to believe that it’s the first one). Hunter finally found his identity and he was happy like that. You can disagree but so many things make me believe that Hunter is trans, specifically transmasc.
(Art credits to Dana terrace btw)

Do you think Dean understood what Cas meant by “the one thing I want is the one thing I know I can’t have?” Do you think he knew it was because Cas believed Dean could never love him back or do you think he actually thought that Cas didn’t have faith in their ability to be together. Dean thinks he poisons all good things, what if he thought Cas knew that- that Cas thought Dean would ruin it and that’s why he couldn’t have it?

not to read too much into things but has anyone ever talked about the name of the boat the gang stows away on after the bank heist? it’s named after antenor, who was seen as one of the wisest elders and counselors to King Priam. and then it sinks and nearly kills everyone along with it. and for some reason it almost feels like a metaphor for hosea, especially since he just died. the wisest counselor to the leader for the gang, an elder in the gang, killed and with him he takes any form of control left in the gang.

As an author with no currently published works, I can’t help but feel daunted by the seemingly insurmountable mountain that is being a creator. When I consume novels and stories of any kind that I enjoy, I am endlessly moved and touched by them.
I long to recreate and evoke the same emotional responses within others that these things do to me.
Suffering, solace, love, loss. All of them.
I simply worry I do not have the talent, will, and motivation to achieve it in the end.

I don’t hate Nate at all. But I feel like this season has done a reversal or retcon of his character. He was arrogant and mean, even in season 1, and now it feels like they’re just writing him as a nice kid who wasn’t valued properly enough. I want to root for him but I want his character development to matter more than it is
