@magnolia-sunrise was talking abt their oc voices and asked me abt mine so i'm gonna ramble abt that under the cut yeehaw

for the most part they have unique voices in my brain, whether or not i a) have voiceclaims for them b) can articulate what those voices sound like c) can actually write them with different voices is another story but i'm giving it my best shot jfjdjjdjf

grimm- i answered this ask awhile ago and said i didn't have a voiceclaim for them and that was not entirely true bc the beginning of this song to the ~30 second mark is closeish to what i image their voice to be like. i found this song abt a month before i created honeybee so it's Embedded in my mind as a honeybee song despite it only partially fitting hdfgklfhd (timestamped where the lyrics begin)

basically low with a slight raspiness? breathiness? grimm definitely speaks with more of a drawl/twang/cowboy accent than this singer tho (its singing voice is NOT like this at all btw). it also might have some sort of almost-lisp or sound like it's talking around smthin in it's mouth bc its got bonus fangs and its jaw likes to act up

bc of said fangs it doesn't move it's mouth much when talking so that results in a sort-of mumble. concise when they talk, but not clipped unless the situation calls for it. they'll hold a conversation just fine but they're defs someone you can have a whole conversation with and only realize after the fact that you still know almost nothing about them. also will deliver jokes with a deadpan

yarrow- their voice has actually changed a bit from my initial perception in that ask bc i'd say their voice is actually more mid-range and not low, just a guy who's been on t for several years. don't have any refs off the tops of my head, but they have a situational/varying accent depending on who they're talking to, having grown up in a metropolitan area but moved to a rural one later on- smthin that ranges from a slight drawl/twang to an "average" western american accent. VERY expressive and prone to rambling and talking too fast- he's not unsure of himself when he speaks, just has a lot of thoughts all the time, so he'll backtrack to other ideas and restate things and trail off adhd-style. good at being social, and lot of his charm comes from being polite/knowing when to be nice. has definitely adopted a philosophy of "it's okay if i'm weird because people are fine with it if you're nice"

bc they've existed in my brain for so long, most of the ttw characters also have Voices and i wanna ramble abt them too hehe

serena- originally roberta colindrez' performance in alice isn't dead was The Voiceclaim for her but not quite anymore; i think there's defs a quality to her voice in that performance that aligns with serena's voice, but nowadays i imagine her voice to be a little bit lower and rougher (also timestamped)

she's pretty terse when she talks, but serena's funny bc most of her external standoffishness really is just an awkwardness that comes across as more bitchy that she'd like. but also she is Very sarcastic and has a low tolerance for ppl being dumbasses around her, so how fortunate she is to be in the company of chucklefuck 1 and 2 (pyrithaea and vance) for most of the story.

pyrithaea- there's a line in marigold by mother falcon that i animated a few years back and it's pretty solidly Her Voice. higher-pitched and can get annoying to some people, esp bc she talks a lot and too fast (also adhd style). very expressive and at times dramatic when she talks, doesn't have a full-blown "valley girl" accent but it's there

vance- the music video for still feel by half alive has been very intertwined with vance's whole vibe for like six years, and the lead singer's voice is pretty in-line with how i imagine his voice, except vance's voice might sit in his chest a bit more, if that makes sense? also talks a lot, not as fast as rithaea, but more prone to saying things that don't quite make sense hfgkfdhg. also very expressive and dramatic and gay with hints of that same valley girl accent

leon- actually funny bc the best voiceclaim i have is fucking. gerard way. raspy and kind of nasally and grating

always kind of sounds like their smiling regardless of if you can hear them. also the fucking laugh in this video is their vibe. not their laugh all the time but

skylar and phil don't have as-solid voices yet. skylar's defs smthin androgynous and phil...sounds like a zombie but idk if i want undead and raspy or smthin more light and ghostly yet

I unfortunately don't think I'll get around to finishing it because even though I wrote a rough outline of the next couple of scenes it's nowhere near enough to wrap up the rest of the story. I'd like to share it because I hate the idea of such a long story collecting dust in my folders but it is way too long to go into my WIP fanfic like I'm doing with all my short wips that I'll never finish.

I'll probably just end up posting it as its own fanfic with a warning in the beginning that it is unfinished/discontinued/whatever, but wow. I'm impressed I wrote something so long only to somehow forget about it lol.

Out of the corner of his eye, he saw a large, brown stain on the sheets of his bed, just below Zuko’s back. It was almost circular in shape, as if someone had put a circle in a jar and shook it a little bit. The edges were a darker brown then the rest of it, and it stretched from the edge of his bed to somewhere under Zuko.

Suddenly, their perfect, quiet night was ruined as his vision began to blur and his breath started to get heavier.

Bile rose in his throat—he was going to throw up.

“Zuko,” he squeaked, trying his best to keep the anxiety pulsing at his throat down, “I—we need to get off the bed. Like, right now.”

Ok so like. A thought I've had bouncing around in my head for a day or two now is Ruby being very, VERY envious of Sonic, at least when they first meet. Like to the point where she can't look at him directly

Because here they are, looking at a person who also had Dark Gaia Energy forced into his body, who is a beast, who is sick, just like them... but he can hide it

He can feign normalcy. He can hide his monstrosity. She can't. She can't turn back into a normal mobian during the day like he can. She's stuck in her monstrous form and suffers every day because of it. She doesn't get any real normalcy

It's not like Sonic actually has it any better. He's still sick, just like they are. And there are times where his condition becomes obvious, when the sun sets and he forcefully transforms. But it never stopped him from being a hero, from having friends, from being loved by the world, from living the life they wished they could have

And maybe she resented him for it. Just a little

i get rambunctious abt architecture

#the sort of secondary downtown in the town i grew up was all these really charming little brick buildings and there was a ben franklin and #a donut shop that exploded (dw abt it) and really classic signage and the unitarian church which is a really lovely romanesuqe building #from 1890. it's one of the topographically lower points in the area and what should happen a few years back but these giant towering luxury #condos coming up at the highest point in the area. its like a church r smth idk but its fucking hideous in that sort of 80s-pomo-modern #farmhouse way and there arent apartment keys you have to use an app which makes me sick. oh also the library was rebuilt in 1965 and is #this adorable little building which is decidedly midcentury inside but not in the cool way you're thinking but it's PRETTY. there's an #ornamental book on the face of it and a wrought iron gate and it's really cozy. but the wiring is janky and instead of just fixing it they #are gonna knock it down and rebuild it to be one of those hideous glass walled monstrosities that have taken over any public space. see #also how they knocked down the high school which was built in the late sixties after the original burned down and replaced it with this #torture chamber. no character at all just sterile blue furniture white walls and light gray tile. it is cold and soulless and so big it #makes me sick. its also almost entirely open concept. but it USED to be this fantastic 1970 ish brick building w brick walls and multicolor #tile and lockers and a gym with wood panelling and murals of the beatles and calvin and hobbes #anyway rant over but the world is turning to shit

(The following is a mostly-opinionized character design rant. You are not obliged to agree, I'm just ranting)

Yeah, you guys are probably tired of me ranting about character designs, but may I PLEASE share how I've seen this image a handful of times on the internet and its existence is nothing less of a living nightmare to think about; let alone look at.

Yep. I get it, "What? It's not so bad to look at." you're probably thinking; but I can't think that. Even if I tried, this image will still be there when I try to go to bed at night. Everything about this design bothers me to no end and I can't even begin to explain it.

Well- I can try. But the few times I have actually gotten to see it, it's always from people who are like "Why did they make him so hot tho?!"

To that I say, ?!?!?!??!

I mean, sure, I won't judge your taste-bUT ARE WE LOOKING AT THE SAME MAN?!

To start; if you broke him down into shapes, you would likely have to split up his head, torso area, and legs just to realize how these three areas rarely share the same shape language. If that didn't make sense; think of his head being an oval, his torso and arms are built from big chunky triangles, and his legs are line elongated ovals. His head and legs give of a much rounder presence (which may be more relative to his original design), but his torso and arms are a lot thicker, and give of the theme of strength or danger.

And maybe those shapes wouldn't be so bad together if the design didn't have REALISTIC HUMAN LEGS combined with a very stylized and exaggerated torso area, topped of with a semi proportionate head that looks really tiny when compared to other characters; but not to mention still having the same doll-looking head that the original design had. None of it makes sense. You can just change one of these groups to match one other and I think it would be fine.

Also to mention the elephant in the room; yeah. They totally tried to make him attractive. I totally don't think that worked, but that's likely the intention with how much they changed his design.

But if you compare it to the Buzz design they have; you would notice how they at least tried to keep him looking like a toy by working the joints into his suit. But also come to notice how this is literally just an advancement to Buzz's original design and not adding much more to it. And maybe the shape language is a little different from body to head, but it's only one break in the pattern which isn't bad at all.

But the real cherry on top is that it seems like they just topped his head onto a typical fantasy cowboy design and called it good seeing how almost none of his original costume and color design show through the design.

But sure. Let's say we're not going to make any of our designs consistent, and maybe we just really want this cowboy doll from the 50's to be conventionally attractive. What say, do you think we should do?

As seen below, I made some two designs displaying the point I made; with one being more human, but still carrying on the themes of the original design, and another being a little more proportionate and doll-like.

Yeah. They're not perfect or exactly 'attractive', as I usually don't know how to design that myself; but it's more of the starting concept that counts (And that they don't freak me out as much)
