Just like Matt worked with YouTube making videos with his brothers, Y/N worked with TikTok. She created her account on the app in 2019, and from 2020, she lost her camera shyness slowly and started posting her own videos, creating content for her favorite niche: makeup and skincare.

When Matt moved to Los Angeles, the two met in an unexpected and cliché encounter in line at a bakery on a rainy morning. Their friendship grew as quickly as it began, and feelings were gradually cultivated. With both of them working on the Internet and being public figures, it was easy to understand each other and fit in their crazy schedules.

It didn't take much. The two quickly found themselves in a tangle of reciprocal feelings. Matt felt proud that he was brave enough to make the first move, and soon, the two were in a beautiful relationship that blossomed very quickly and lightly.

Because they both work with social networks, they decided not to keep their love a secret, and what surprised them most was how the fans supported them together, it was rare that they encountered comments from haters.

With that, in all of the Sturniolo Triplets' YouTube videos and Y/N's TikToks, there were thousands of people begging them to make more content together, being called "the power couple" by both fandoms.

That's why Y/N always found a way to convince Matt to do some couple trends on TikTok with her, and despite pretending he didn't like it, she knew how much he adored making mini videos with her, showing to the world how much he loved her.

Y/N fitted her phone on the phone holder attached to the right side of the front windowscreen of Matt's car - which was there precisely because she loved recording herself doing makeup there, being the passenger princess she was -, lowering the brightness of the screen so that the boy couldn't see the TikTok camera open.

She adjusted the position of the device so that it covered the two front seats, pressing the red button to start recording, smiling slightly to the camera before looking away.

Matt didn't notice her movements, too focused on the sight in front of him, driving slowly through the McDonald's drive thru line, waiting for their turn. His left hand held the steering wheel, while his right hand rested on Y/N's thigh, caressing her covered skin gently.

Y/N's calm playlist played softly through the speakers, creating a comfortable atmosphere for both of them.

The girl knew that she was going to make the order that day, knowing that Matt was feeling too anxious to talk to a stranger, so her plan would work.

"Do you already know what you will want, baby?" The girl asked. Her tone was low as she turned her upper body to the left, focusing her eyes on the brunette.

"Just some nuggets, baby. And Coke, please." He asked, looking at her quickly before returning his eyes to the cars in front of them, receiving a nod from the girl.

It didn't take long and soon it was their turn. Matt rolled down the window on the driver's side door, smiling kindly at the attendant before turning to his girlfriend, waiting for her to start the order.

Y/N leaned to her left, getting closer to Matt so the attendant could hear her clearly.

"Hi, good evening! Can I have a cheeseburger with fries and a Diet Coke, please?" She spoke her order, waiting for the attendant to select it before starting Matt's. "And my husband will just have a big portion of nuggets and a Coke, please."

Y/N tried to capture Matt's reaction without letting on that she was expecting something, watching him surreptitiously from the corner of her eye, pressing her lips into a thin line when she saw him smile big, lowering his face to hide the red color that took over his cheeks.

His hand - which was still on the girl's thigh - squeezed the flesh lightly, and Y/N could swear his fingers were shaking.

After receiving confirmation from the attendant and paying for them, Matt rolled up the window and gently accelerated to get back in line.

When the car in front stopped again, he finally turned to Y/N, a huge smile on his face as his eyes glistened with tears.

"I'm your husband?" He asked, his voice coming out weak from the emotions he felt, his cheeks burning with redness while he felt his heart accelerating.

"Not yet, but one day you will be." Y/N said in a low voice, smiling equally big. She brought her left hand to Matt's right, caressing the soft skin, holding herself back from pulling him into a hug and peppering him with kisses.

"I love you so much. So, so much." He muttered, moving closer and sealing his lips over Y/N's, closing his eyes and letting a happy sigh scape through his nose, a smile still on his mouth.

Y/N placed her phone on the kitchen counter next to the stove so that the front camera was facing her and taking in as much information from the room as possible.

The girl was cutting some vegetables while preparing lunch for herself and the boys, wiping her hands on the dishrag before clicking on the screen, starting the recording.

"Baby!" She called from where she was, smiling quickly to the camera before lifting her chin slightly so that her voice echoed better. "Come here, I need a favor."

The sound of her and Matt's shared bedroom door opening sounded before light footsteps approached. Soon, the boy's image appeared behind Y/N as he walked closer to her.

"Hi honey. What do you need?" He spoke back, wrapping his arms around his girlfriend's waist and resting his chin on Y/N's right shoulder, sealing the area with his lips softly before noticing the phone recording them. "What are you doing?" Matt asked, his brow furrowed as his eyes focused on the image of the two hugging each other that stared back at him.

"I'm just recording a recipe." She lied quickly, lightly biting her bottom lip to hold back her laughter. She really didn't know how to lie to him. "Baby, can you go to the market for me? I need tomatoes to make sauce." Y/N asked, releasing the knife she was holding in her right hand and bringing it to Matt's head still on her shoulder, stroking his hair lightly, receiving a happy sigh in response.

The boy let out a sound of agreement, nodding his head before lifting it up, kissing Y/N's shoulder and her cheek, squeezing her waist one last time before taking some steps back.

"That's it, baby?" He asked as he felt his pants pocket with his right hand, checking if he had his wallet and car keys.

Y/N agreed, picking up the knife again and going back to cutting the vegetables.

"Alright, if you remember anything else, just text me. I love you, bye." Matt asked, turning around and starting to walk towards the stairs.

"Okay, thanks!" Y/N thanked him, smiling small when she heard Matt's footsteps stop abruptly. She looked up at her phone slightly, seeing her boyfriend turn around with a confused expression.

"I love you, bye." He repeated, watching her closely.

"Bye, honey. Drive safe." She added, trying to hide her smile as she turned her attention back to the vegetables.

Matt approached her again, positioning himself behind her body and tilting his head to the side so he could see her profile, his blue eyes running over her features.

"I love you." He repeated it a third time, this time slowly, as if he were speaking to a child.

"Okay." Y/N persisted, keeping her eyes on the vegetables, taking deep breaths to keep from laughing.

"Did I do something?" Matt asked, his right hand lightly grabbing Y/N's right arm and making her release the knife, turning her body so that she was facing him. "I'm sorry." He asked, his eyes scanning his girlfriend's face as a weight took over his gaze; he felt guilty despite not knowing what he had done.

"What? No, you didn't do anything." The girl shook her head, intertwining their fingers and looking at him in false confusion.

"But... that's not how it works, baby. I say, "I love you", and you have to say "I love you" back." Matt insisted, his brow furrowed as he tried to understand what was happening. "Did something happen that I don't know about?"

A sound of laughter escaped Y/N's throat, she couldn't keep pretending when seeing the confusion in her boyfriend's eyes, her heart warmed with the way he was trying to apologize and fix something he didn't do and that, in fact, didn't even exist. Matt remained watching her, feeling even more lost than before.

"I'm sorry, It's just a prank, baby. It's for a TikTok." The girl explained, pointing to her phone that was still recording them.

Matt rolled his eyes, sighing in relief before a smile took over his face.

"You're still going to give me a heart attack." He muttered, shaking his head. "Let's do it again then. I love you, bye." Matt repeated, still holding his girlfriend, who laughed lightly at his reactions.

"I love you more, my love." She finally responded, reaching forward and quickly sealing their lips. "Now go buy my tomatoes."

Y/N held her phone with her right hand, the screen showing the TikTok camera open, with the audio already selected, just waiting to be started.

She was standing in front of the closet doors in her shared room with Matt. The lights were low, forming a comfortable atmosphere.

Her left hand held her favorite red lipstick from Kylie Cosmetics, with the lid off and the contents showing.

Her right thumb clicked the red button to start recording, the audio echoing through the four walls.

"Stay with me"

She applied one more layer of lipstick to her bottom lip, smudging it a little on purpose.

A masculine hand - Matt's - appeared in the camera view, cupping Y/N's chin firmly and wiping away the smudged lipstick with his thumb gently, pulling her face up so she was looking at him.

"I don't want you to leave..."

Y/N turned her phone slightly so the camera caught the two of them, Matt appearing at her side with his face and neck smeared with lipstick marks.

His face was facing hers, his blue eyes traveling from her eyes to her painted lips, a smirk appearing on his cheeks.

Y/N looked up at him through her eyelashes, feeling her face take on a red color due to the intensity of his gaze, smiling shyly.

Matt pulling her face for a kiss was the last image captured on camera, before the TikTok ended.

"Baby?" Y/N called out loud, her eyes briefly flicking to her phone, which had the TikTok camera open, already recording herself.

She was sitting on the couch in the living room, the television on in the background as her favorite series played.

"Yes, baby?" Matt responded from their bedroom, leaving the room seconds later and approaching the living room, stopping near the couch as he looked at his girlfriend, waiting.

"Do we have orange?" She asked, turning her face towards him, smiling small when she saw a confused expression appear in his eyes.

"The fruit? Hm, I guess so. We bought it last time we went to the market." Matt replied, resting his hand on the back of the couch, leaning his hips on the armrest.

"I really feel like eating an orange right now." Y/N continued, closely watching her boyfriend's reaction.

"Oh, I'll get you one, hold on." Matt responded quickly, turning around and walking over to the fridge, opening the door and reaching for the fruit from the fruit and vegetable drawer.

Y/N looked at her phone camera wide-eyed, catching her bottom lip between her teeth as she smiled big, a reddish hue taking over her cheeks.

Just under two minutes later, Matt returned with a small bowl in hand, and Y/N quickly recognized it as her favorite bowl that had bee designs on it.

"Here, my love." He handed her the ceramic. Y/N took it and looked inside, seeing her orange not only peeled but cut so that she could eat it slowly and without getting her hands dirty.

Y/N pouted as her eyes filled with tears.

"Thank you." Her voice was broken due to the amount of love she felt at that moment, looking up at her boyfriend.

"What is it?" Matt asked worriedly, sitting down next to her and pulling her close, laying her head on his right shoulder as he brought his head closer to hers, sealing his lips on her hair and exhaling lightly, smelling the soft smell of shampoo. "Why are you crying, baby?"

"I just love you so much."

"I love you more, silly."

what bird do you imagine Reynauld as and why? :}

Ahaha!!!! thanks for making it easier for me to answer Coffee ;;

Reynauld is a tough case! He's not as easily summarizeable as Dismas imo so I had to pick and choose what characteristics to focus on, I had to do a lot of research on this one! ;;

My go-to instinct is to assign him as a Harpy Eagle, since they're a big bird and their plumage kinda fit the whole grey-armor thing. But they're decently calm tempered and even friendly sometimes, and their hunting style is too static--since they perch-hunt--and that doesn't particularly match what I had in mind for Reynauld. In fact, I think it fits more of Baldwin's or even Barristan's style (I'll think on that a bit more later).

I think with Reynauld's army background he'd be comfortable around people, therefore flocks. He's also a pretty confident guy who speaks his mind as an unshakable leader. (Haha) Which means he would have the audacity of the larger and more daring birds of prey. (Sorry Kites and Falcons! Some of y'all are audacious tho!)

In game, he has the second highest HP, so I was thinking a fairly tough bird like the Golden Eagle. However, the Crusader is a generalist class. You can place him nearly anywhere and he can provide some sort of benefit, and he doesn't particularly have a specific niche. So I took that flexibility into account.

In conclusion, I think I'll assign him a Swainson's Hawk. Swainson's hawks are migrants and form flocks. Their flying and hunting style are incredibly varied, ranging from perch-hunting, hovering, and even ground hunting! They're also not that fast for a hawk, and some describe their terrestrial hunting style to be fairly clunky: reminiscent to his in-game slow speed.

I also took aesthetic into account. Unfortunately, finding grey or blue hawks that matched the above characteristics is fairly difficult. So the closest thing I found that kinda matched did end up being Swainson's Hawk. I'm thinking specifically the light morph rather than the dark morph because I like to think of the dark head as a helmet, red-ish breast as his holy symbol, and the rest in an armored variety ;;

Another incredibly fun thing about these hawks is that they're opportunistic feeders, which means that they sometimes participate in kleptoparasitism. Isn't that a little perfect?

My brain couldn't get a certain hyena fact out, and so I wrote a very silly Ruggie fic

🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾

An opportunity for free food could never be denied by the hyena boy, thus why he was somehow hanging out with Rook Hunt of all people. It's quite the peculiar situation; Ruggie was running a quick errand at Pomefiore. Why? Epel accidentally got a stain on a fancy shirt Vil bought him for a photo shoot regarding NRC's most glamorous students, and he was gonna be in a whole heap of trouble if Vil found out! So after a decent payment, Ruggie was in the clothewashing room waiting for Epel's stuff to be dried, eyes flitting to the clock for time. He was getting hungry at this hour (he's hungry at any hour but still) and his stomach roared for attention under his baggy tshirt.

"Yeah, yeah, you'll get fed soon..." he annoyedly responded to his grumbling guts. Thankfully, it didn't take too long to retrieve the fresh, clean shirt and make his way back to Pomefiore. "Here ya go, Epel! Just like new!"

The lilac haired boy smiled sweetly, "Thanks a bunch, Ruggie! Ah was so worried Vil'd give me hell if he saw that." Ruggie snickered playfully, teasing, "Maybe next time you have juice don't wear the pricey duds, shihihi~" The two laughed together until suddenly-

GRRRROOOUUU..

"!! Was that your stomach, Ruggie?" Epel's eyes were wide, Ruggie's wider and face flushed pink. "Sorry bout that, shyeheh,,, I haven't gotten around to dinner yet," he explained, arms snuggly around his midriff as to contain the sound. "Well, I better head back to my home turf and feed this bad boy," the beastman began, giving his stomach a pat. "See ya later!" He waved goodbye as did Epel, the two parting ways as Ruggie neared the exit. However, before he could get one foot in the mirror back to campus, a spinechillingly friendly French accent sounded in his large fluffy ears.

"Bonjour, Monsieur Dandelion!" Rook Hunt, number 1 nemesis to all things with fur or scales. "YELP! Grrr, what do you want, Rook?" Ruggie turned towards his upperclassman, scowl on his face. The blond just smiled while chuckling, "No reason to bare your fangs. I simply couldn't help but overhear the most ferocious sound, and came to investigate. Behold, it was from your affamé stomach!" His emerald eyes glanced at the second year's tummy, which flustered the poor lad greatly. "Alright then, uh, your curiosity has been quelled, can I head home and actually EAT now?" As Ruggie scooted closer to the mirror, Rook put on a saddened expression; "Hmm, I suppose I can't force you to stay, but I have important research needed studied for the science club and you are the only person I know who could lend me such a niche lesson..." Ruggie tilted his head and raised a brow, "What do you need to know? I assumed anything about hyenas you weirdly know already?"

Hook, line and sinker. "Ah, but this information is about hyena beastmen such as yourself, which I've never truly gotten to experience this phenomenon with," he explained, taking out a notepad and pen. "You see, many carnivorous animals can fit quite a lot of food inside at once, and hyenas are an excellent example! I'm sure you're aware, but they can eat nearly 40 pounds of food in their stomach in one sitting! So, I have a simple hypothesis..." he leaned closer to the beastman with a mischievous glare. "How much can a hyena beastman eat before immobility?"

Ruggie had no clue how to respond, but his belly did.

Guuuu...

"Excellent, your stomach is willing to answer!" So, at the prospect of a full course meal all to himself, Ruggie now found himself in the huntsman's room, and pallets of food bestowed before him. There was steak, burgers, fish, and many other kinds of hearty meat. Not to mention the dessert tray with a milkshake, cookie platter and mochi. Obviously, there was a large pitcher of water to help ease everything down. Ruggie drooled eagerly at this feast fit for Beelzebub himself, while still suspicious of Rook's true intentions, he couldn't wait to dig in. Just as he was about to take a big honkin bite out of a burg, Rook tapped his snoot.

"Non, not yet. I must document your current weight and shape, please do stand on this scale." Ruggie huffed, "Who are you, the veterinarian?" before getting on the scale. Rook observed the measurement, frowning sincerely. Ruggie was underweight, better than he was before NRC, but still noticeably thin. Rook wrote down the numbers before lifting Ruggie's shirt to see his bare stomach, much to the boy's annoyance. After whatever notes he was making got done, he released the hyena boy and the feasting began.

Everything Ruggie ate was delicious, and it didn't take long for his belly to start visibly rounding out. Currently, he managed to eat 4/6 burgers, 3/6 steaks, all 5 mackerel and was starting on the first of 5 arctic char. "Mmmm... where did you get all this from? Arctic Char is exsponsive! Plus, it's amazing!" Rook laughed softly, simply stating, "From a well learned chef friend of mine~ Eat to your heart's content, little hyéne."

...

The hours passed, until eventually...

"BOURRP! Oughh.."

Ruggie had eaten every last bite, and drank every drop. His poor tummy was hilariously swollen, now resting on his lap fully exposed and churning the fatty meals he just vacuumed up. He whimpered in pain, knowing well he didn't have to eat it all but he couldn't stop himself. Rook was flabbergasted, yet concerned, peaking over the defeated yeen and making excited notes. "How stupendous! Not a bit gone to waste, although you look very pained. We just need to check your weight again, and then I shall soothe your aches." Ruggie was to full to be mad anymore, so with some aid he was stood back on the scale and miraculously, he had fit almost 10 pounds of food in that previously concave belly! That's a lot for a lil guy! "This is very valuable information, trés bien! Thank you for providing me such knowledge, Ruggie!" "Rook. I am. Gonna die." "We can't let that happen, can we? Lay back down, my hands shall heal you~"

If you told Ruggie Bucchi this morning he was gonna end up getting belly rubs from Rook Hunt while almost exploded, he'd call you insane. It was no lie though, Rook was very skilled at rubbing a belly, much to the beastman's relief and dismay. The soothing motions helped the digestive process along, massive burps erupting from the small beast. He had no more shame, he just needed pampered until he could move again. "Nobody better know- OURP! Bout this, Rook, especially not after the tickle incident..." "Of course they won't, my gluttonous friend. At least not this intimate moment," little did Ruggie know, Rook had no intentions of keeping his lips sealed. The next week of school was going to be mortifying.

I just think that Daan has this kinda like. Need to be towered over? I think thats why he interacts with the people who are kinda cold/uncaring/powerful most. I mean. He's found himself almost in every aspect of his life in a position where someone was constantly telling him what to do, and I feel like strong characters (like O'saa or karin) kinda fill that niche of "I need someone to boss me around and tell me what to do because I've lived my life at others whims and while I can hold my own for a good bit after a while I'm not sure what to do but asking for help would be too vulnerable so having someone be a higher up towards me gives me a sense of security but i will also kinda be a little shit about it so it doesnt seem so vulnerable" and with O'saa he's super blunt. Very much "I will do things my way wether you like it or not and you will follow my lead or get out my way." and I mean, hell he was a leader! He very much outwardly has control and leadership tendencies, even if inside he doesn't feel like he can ever truly fit the bill. Which is what Daan is looking for yknow? And O'saa, i just kinda think for O'saa its one of those things of he cant for the life of him figure out why he likes him so much, but then Daan starts talking to him about scholarly topics and they have discussions of religion, medicine, science, war, and other things and theres this draw of Daan's Intellegence paired with this strange need of "i want to see him happy, because his whole life hes been miserable and part of it reminds me of me and if i cant be happy then perhaps i can make someone else happy to fill the void" (touching on the whole joking between the two) but being as O'saa has an enlightened soul, i feel like he would be incredibly interested in what Daan has to say. If the two ever got the chance i feel theyd definitely debate between eachother. Imagine that one reaction meme image of the two scholars talking to eachother. Thats them i think. I feel like the two compliment eachother but in a way of like. They fill a niche the other is searching for. Neither are good with words, much less pda, but alone? I feel like if there ever was time alone in a different time in a different place their intimacy would be intense, passionate, and wordless. Nothing would really need to be said, just intimacy, a smoke on the balcony, and dinner in a perfect world. Other people may find their relationship seemingly loveless, but they just couldn't understand the wordless display of trust, of closeness, and of tenderness. How could they? The two have only ever really been truly vulnerable with the other, and I feel if conflict was to arise, they may argue, take a heated break, and then come back with a wordless apology and cook for eachother. Acts of service, cooking, and gift giving i feel would be something that again, if given the chance, the two would indulge in regularly. I feel if O'saa was being particularly sappy he'd maybe get Daan some expensive alcohol he'd been eyeing. As for Daan, I feel he'd get O'saa a nice clothing piece the other had been admiring. But that's in a life they'd never get, I suppose... sorry for rambling in your inbox, I care for them dearly PFT

I put my thoughts down there i hope i was able to cover everything

Im going to start off in a daan analysis tangent real quick

Daan has been neglected by his cultist parents ever since he was a baby. He probably never got the proper feeling of security or personal growth as a child because he was always living to survive. Which worsened even more after the death of his parents, and was doomed to child labour very young. Im sure he never got to properly play or express himself as a kid until he got closer to Elise. But The only thing about himself he found worth talking about were his insane cultist parents. His life at the Baron’s mansion was everything he had, as were his studies of modern medicine. That's why he feels attracted to powerful and determined people like O'saa and Karin (and Marcoh too, I believe), who seem to know exactly what their own goals are and think they still have control over what is happening. Despite trying to do things on his own, he still craves company. He also wants to protect the younger ones, like Levi and Marina, because his ass is projecting! But the sad thing is that Daan can't be too dependent on these people and doesn't want to share too much of his past with them because it's very traumatic for him.

If the discussion had taken place, I think O’saa would have been very interested in Daan and his upbringing. Daan never followed the religions and cults of Europa and is aware of their danger. He prays to Sylvian not as an act of worship but to help those who are sick. He also ran away from Pocketcat his whole life and never wanted to give himself to him until depression hit him harder than before. This makes Daan rational, smart, and inquisitive. Which seem to be attractive traits for someone who possesses an enlightened soul.

TOTALLY AGREE ALSO ABOUT THESE TWO HAVING BIG BRAINED DISCUSSIONS O'saa proves himself to be a good listener to others feelings in the booth; Daan can be a very open-minded person; and they both have similar views about the use of magic. I agree that the way they show affection is when they’re both very intimate with each other. O’saa does not trust people lightly because, in his case, his greatest fear is manipulation due to the fact that his country is being invaded and controlled by Europa's religions, wars, and cults. So he only ever relied on himself, which is why he chose to be a yellow mage. I imagine it might take a great deal of time and trust for him to share his vulnerability and feelings with Daan. But they seem to both crave social interaction since they're both lonely at heart, so there might be a chance (we’re winning, girlies!). Either way, I agree with sappy O'saa, that's such an adorable concept and somehow fitting since he finds his own jokes funny. They would write each other love letters; you cannot tell me otherwise.

Also, I thought of an ending for these two surviving the festival: Daan confessing to O’saa that he doesn’t have anything that waits for him and O’saa noticing the true meaning of those words. He feels a tinge of sympathy because Daan has lost everything to war and religion, and he can't bear to see him give up after surviving the gruesome festival. So O’saa proposes to make a deal to be his personal doctor because he plans to travel dangerously, defy the authority in his country to establish his own teachings, and rise to the top. Since Daan doesn’t have anything to lose, he agrees to it. I think that it is during those travels that they will slowly fall for each other. They might also find some closure on their pasts during those trips.

I was a big fan of Soviet cartoons for a while before Treasure Island got popular and I remember being sad because it was quite a niche interest so when it starting gaining attention I was excited even though I hadn't seen it yet because I was happy that outsiders were finally watching and liking a Soviet cartoon even if it was one I didn't know much about... but I found out about the fandom and how bad it was it honestly made me sad as I thought people actually cared about the cartoon and Soviet animation and the fact that it seemed like they were just joining the fandom so they could just make weird headcanons, pairings, simp for the characters and make NSFW of them made me really upset especially with many of them being English speakers or Americans as it seemed like they didn't actually care about Treasure Island or Soviet animation and only got into the fandom because of a meme...

I have sadly seen this with other foreign cartoons and animation gaining outside fandoms especially ones I like and I don't understand this fascination but with Americans especially taking obscure franchises and turning them into the next garbage animation fandom... especially with how many bad western animation fandoms there are I guess the toxic ones especially have to get their grubby hands on franchises just to ruin them.

I also have noticed some of these American fans can be rather discriminatory towards the countries these animations come from and often judge them by American standards and often try to criticise or misinterept them because they are very misinformed or have some stupid standards and even try to call some of these franchises problematic just because they come from certain countries or come from different times where they would be products of them and even judge them based on their own modern standards and try to project modern ideals onto them even when they don't fit and have nothing to do with the original premise... they also can be quite toxic and try to force their ideals onto a franchise or fandom even when it has nothing to do with it and many of them only care about surface level stuff and don't seem to care about the creators who made it or the country it came from.

I'm not exculsionist or a gatekeeper as I usually don't care what people do in fandoms but I do draw a line when I feel like there's an issue as I hate people who just join fandoms just because they are popular and don't actually give a crap about the actual work in question and just use it as a way to be toxic and I have even seen people go as far as to disrespect the creators of said works and only join a fandom to criticise how bad the work is... like why are you even here then? And as someone who really loves animation and appreciates it, it saddens me to see people treat such works like this especially with how little attention foreign animation gets in the western world. Do we really need awful fandoms ruining them?

I'm not saying all people are like this and that we should force people to enjoy things a certain way but is it too much to ask to try and be respectful to some of these works especially when they hold so much value to other people and countries? Can't you just stick to your regular awful fandoms and not bring other works into this? And while I know people say that these fandoms after often the minority this really isn't the case for the obscure ones that get popular especially due to these toxic people.

It especially saddens me as there are some obscure things I've wanted to share and make art of but I'm scared of people getting their hands on it and ruining people's exposure to these works and while it may seem like I'm being negative that isn't to say that all obscure fandoms are like this as there are a lot of good fandoms that even if they are small don't have the same level of toxicity and plenty of people who do legitmately like these works and not for superficial reasons.

I'm sorry if it seems like I was ranting but I've seen this for a while and I wanted to vent about it but I'm sorry if this isn't a appropriate place to do so and if I'm being rude.

I agree with you in everything here. The hypocrisy of many really amazes me, because it is a living phenomenon and an indicator of the stupidity of some people. It's a shame that this happens.

Hi friends, and happy Friday!

Yesterday the sims team released its first stuff pack since Paranormal Stuff, so I wanted to give my thoughts and pseudo-review it for you all. I'm not sure if these little reviews are helpful in any way, but I've found that forcing myself to take the time and really isolate the new features, CAS items, and objects has made me appreciate, incorporate, and analyze them among the existent content a little better.

So, with that being said, here's my long and unbiased review of the CAS items from the Home Chef Hustle Stuff Pack! ↓

Let's begin with the outfits shown above. This pack provided items that I absolutely love and have been asking for whilst also giving items that are just...meh at best. (By "meh" I mean that after this review, they'll be forgotten in the catalogue.)

There are multiple variants of apron outfits for both frames and I liked all of them. I'm serious, I even liked the apron dress: it's a little frumpy, but it feels like a perfect cuddly grandma or elderly sim outfit. Also that shirt with the little towel over the shoulder in male frame? Love love love that. Crazy about it, in fact! But beyond the outfits themselves, I really like the color swatches in this pack and the fact that they have clean and dirty swatches. I say it every time, but I love the lived-in, imperfect CAS and Build/Buy items that the sims team has been rolling out lately and I hope they keep up with that style.

I also really love the turtleneck jumpsuit and honestly, it may be one of my favorite CAS pieces to date. I love all the swatches and the way it fits on sims of all sizes. They have been giving us a lot of jumpsuits lately, but this one stands out from the others in a positive way.

As for the clothing items I didn't care for and/or could do without: the one pair of pants that came with this SP. It's not that they're bad or anything; the swatches are fine, they just don't stand out as a staple item to me. Same with the chef coat - it's a nice piece, it has a variety of color and style options, but I'm not sure how often I'll use it as it's so specific/niche. Both perfectly adequate for what they are though!

However, the hoodie, t-shirt with the little ascot, and graphic tee did nothing for me. Some of the swatches on the t-shirt were good (the fire chicken for example) while some felt weird and wildly out of place with the existing animation style/graphics in the game. The shirt with the ascot is just okay, I like how it fit my sims but some of the designs are a bit on the nose and corny. I can't emphasize enough that some of the designs on the shirts were just decent while the other half were really, really bad.

The single pair of shoes in this pack aren't great either. I just thought they looked a little underwhelming, I had higher expectations I guess. I have clog/croc cc that looks much better than what came with this pack if I'm being honest, so I could leave these out all together. Plus, they warp the male ankles significantly, so I couldn't even use them on my male sim as demonstrated in the picture below.

I've seen a few people confused about the gloves that came with this pack, but I actually like them. I especially like the latex/rubber gloves: I would have a home chef wear these at their pop-up-shop for the play pretend impression of food prep safety (like in real life). It's silly, it doesn't impact gameplay, but it helps my imagination and storytelling so that's a fun touch to me. Any touch of realism is a win in my book, and they're also nice to have if you have Dine Out as well! Come to think of it, a lot of the CAS items from this pack would incorporate quite seamlessly with that pack if not for the fact that Dine Out is virtually unplayable. Anyway!

The earrings and necklace are cute, even though the knife is a little chunky. I love silly jewelry though, so I will definitely use all three of them. The tattoo, I'm sorry to say, is kind of goofy as fuck lmao. Just not my personal taste. "A" for effort though? I feel like they could have kept with the chef/foodie tattoo concept and been less on the nose, but it's fine. If nothing else, it's silly and it is in a good location at least? At least they've been trying to add tattoos in the last few packs after going a long while completely ignoring that category all together?

As for the hats...

Need we talk about the hats? They're bulky, chunky, they don't lay on any sim's head properly and it only gets worse as they get younger. We all joke about it, but I don't know that the Sims team has ever seen an actual human wearing a hat before. You'd think after we complain and make jokes about it every pack, they would get the message.

Regardless, the hats themselves would have been, objectively, super adorable if they fit correctly... but they don't. The swatches are pretty fun, the texture is actually nice. So annoying! I hope someone comes out with a default replacement fix because I would use these for my younger sims a lot.

Now...the hairs!

The first scarf hairdo in fem frame looks SO GOOD. Why it did not come in male frame, I will never know. It's one of my favorite hairs to date. Also the curly hairdo for male frames is so cute and like nothing else we have in the game, so that was nice too (and it also should have came in fem frame, but again I digress). I want to give them props as well for the short cut with shaved sides - that is one of the more fashionable, practical, reusable male hairs that have come with a pack. They always somehow manage to mess "staple" pieces up by doing something funky (looking at you Cats and Dogs hair with a fucking pawprint shaved on the side lmaoooo) but this hair is simple and good. Love that. I do feel like there are similar cuts to this already in game, but they don't look as good... so congrats to them for finally doing this haircut right on try 4 or 5 lmao.

I so so so wish they would do what CC creators do and create a headband overlay in the hats category so you could change the hairband color because I actually love the different swatches... I just hate that they're limited to certain hair colors! It's not like anyone is pairing a hat with a hairdo that has a scarf or headband, so whyyyyyy aren't they giving us that option yet? Hopefully cc creators pull through on this one as well.

Otherwise I genuinely have no complaints about any of the hairs. I think they're all quite nice!

Now onto the least exciting part of this review...the littles.

Not much to say about any of this: it's all the same stuff from the adult CAS items, with a lot left out. I would have liked to see an item made specifically for these life stages in mind, but that didn't happen, unfortunately. Everything they converted felt kind of random, and there were things they didn't convert that I thought were a missed opportunity.

For instance: I don't know why the hoodie didn't get converted, or the pants? They didn't make anything original for children, so I don't think it would have been much trouble to convert one or both of these items. In my opinion, the swatches on the hoodie would have probably suited kids better than the adults, and I feel like hoodies are a staple item in every child's closet so you can never really have too many? But yeah, big miss.

The random onesie for infants was weird and I felt like it had fewer swatches than it should have. Maybe they're trying to throw infants in as they're a new life stage and we have so little for them? I don't know. I thought it was weird toddlers got nothing but one singular hairstyle and the giant hat (all life stages got that). They could have at least given toddlers the onesie, too...or even the t-shirt. Regardless, this pack wasn't for kids/toddlers/infants, that much is clear, but they could have been incorporated better with a little more effort, and that's what frustrates me the most!

finally posting this - thank you to everyone for a wonderful anime north!! \o/ this con prep season was the longest ive ever prepped for a con, and i think it was the busiest con for me ever. it makes me so happy to see people taking my art home!! 😭

so thank you for coming by anime north and chatting and supporting me! and thank you esp to the people who came by gifting their own merch?!??? - either fanart or ocs?! and im honored to see your beautiful ocs?!?? what the hell you guys are the GOAT thank you all 🥹🥹

it was so busy that i wish i had time to walk around & talk to other artists! i really wanted to get dango and onigiri at the delta too.. didnt really get time to eat so im sorry if you saw me shove 10 timbits in my mouth at the end of the con. yes i really did that .

throughout the con i kept saying "he just like me.. HE JUST LIKE ME FR!!!!!!!" every 5 seconds like an NPC. im sorry if you had to hear that more than once.

this is more for me honestly, so it will be really long. but i'm sharing it in case it may be helpful for others. i find that i'm always looking back at my old con reports, so typing out all of my thoughts are really useful to me. overall a great con, fellow artists and customers alike really inspire me to do better in my art.

comparisons to last year: (since i didn't end up making a con report last year!!!!!)

location: the artist alley layout was huge, and im really happy there are a lot more newcomers to the con scene. i know how much my first con experience meant to me, so i want others to join in on the fun! i don't know how the artist alley staff managed to fit so many artists in the building now! we got placed in a corner where there was a lot of breathing room, and a lot of traffic. i got lost a few times (didn't actually have time to walk around, but you know, it was to get in and out of the con centre and to the washroom/water station) because the amount of tables was overwhelming however, and the layout was super confusing. however i didn't feel as if there were any significant bottlenecks in traffic when i was taking some walk breaks.

commissions: last year it was still busy, but i still had some time to draw a handful of commissions. this year was a non stop barrage of customers! i think i may retire on the spot commissions at cons, just because ive always found it too stressful to draw right at the con, even if the traffic is slow. (and im lazy)

fandoms: last year i felt that it was... never so difficult to sell niche and old fandoms...? most people bought primarily 3 things from me at AN 2022, and not much else was touched. it was a struggle, and i even wondered if my art plateaued, if it wasn't good, if i should stop doing conventions altogether, at least for a little while. this year was so surprising with how much love there was for old and niche fandoms. two people from quebec came by and noticed the old fandoms and mentioned that if i was able to come to otakuthon, i should, people in mtl love nostalgia.. i'm gonna be honest otakuthon was pretty bad expenses-wise for me, but i heard it picked up since cons came back in 2022. it is a really beautiful city so mayhaps.. i will come for miss montreal.................

and a separate section on the new merch i made:

the new sticker sheets i printed (one piece, baccano, breaking bad/better call saul) did so well! nts to add luffys scar bc apparently i forgot... ive seen this dumbass's face for hundreds of eps and yet i still forgot .

these are a far cry to the sticker sheets i designed in previous years. many sticker places restrict you on how many stickers you can place on a sheet due to spacing requirements... the more stickers you have + the closer they are, the higher the margin of error, which i understand is why many professional sticker printers have these restrictions in place.

the artists i worked with for my AN stickers are so genuinely nice and accommodating with my requests. I just went wild haha. the sheets with the most stickers are brba/bcs at 27 stickers and one piece at 32 stickers.

2021 (top) vs 2023 (bottom), the chara stickers on the new sheet are larger & 2x as many item stickers! the new design makes greater use of the space. my octopath 1 stickers are meant for planners but you could use it for anything!

in 2017 i could only realistically fit 6 ish stickers on a sheet (for vinyl, not cricut home printing) due to printing restrictions. these costed about $3.30 CAD per sheet from s/ticker/mule (not worth it for the price point AT ALL... but i wanted to try sheets for the first time)... and yes it's a tiny 4x7 as well. it was a hard sell for $7 in 2017. but im glad artists have been pricing them a bit higher + sheets have become much more customizable.

now on to charms:

i am so obsessed with this borderless charm look on the new charms... they look like candy... thank you guys for loving my new charms!! i tried out a new technique with designing charms. and im so happy with how they turned out. the charm manu was super accommodating and they are so much better than vograce who fucked up my order so bad in 2022 🤡👍

the soul eater charms from last year were kind of a precursor to this. last year i tried something a bit different than my usual with the transparent bgs, which require full bleed in the file setup, and that was already pretty new for me. i find that charm sales are usually pretty mid for me, so during the pandemic i took a soft break from making them, and i wanted to do research based on others' designs and really tried to improve my design sense. to me i want to design charms that aren't just a flat piece of artwork that gets printed, but something that utilizes the capabilities of the acrylic material it gets printed on 🤔

fandoms/merch types i want to try next time i table:

more soul eater? it's one of my favourite animes and im very happy for the soul eater love this year. my partner kept selling out of her soul eater prints even though it was her first time tabling!

fma! ive been rereading AND rewatching it lately. it's one of my top 5 anime of all time so me drawing anything for it is a struggle, the bar is set so high. i never end up having the time or ideas to draw anything for it (and the aesthetics are very different from my usual taste)

shadows house has been one of my favorites recently!

dungeon meshi, the print i made was back in 2018 and i think it's time to retire it! it sold out at AN, thank you! with the way the story has developed in the last 5 years, i really want to draw something new for it if i can.

next time before the con, i definitely need an organized chart i print out before the con so im not.. literally writing down each transaction... 🧍‍♀️

possibly new display? grids even with plastic panels are heavy... and they can be a pain to put up. this AN we had our neighbors and good friends @nappotuna & @stripeyworm helping us put the grids up, they did an absolute speedy banger job! but it might have taken way longer without 4 hands on the grid work.

if we had used tape to hold our prints up as well who knows how long it would have taken. we used magnets, apparently a lot of people were using them at TCAF. they were so easy to put up and adjustable. *jesse pinkman voice* MAGNETS, BITCH!!!!!!!

merch i may shelve/do less of:

i really appreciate when artists talk about these kind of things behind the scenes... when products do well, when others dont, products w surprising responses, the factors that we think affect sales... the hard truth is that not everything sells, just bc the art is good =/= good sales, etc etc.

lately ive found it so fun to design sticker sheets over individual die cut stickers!! i understand now why some people only specialize in stickers!! it's also such a pain to stock individual characters and have greatly varying levels, bc of customer interest, and bc of how printing stickers works, you often get extras of random characters due to overflow 😭.. like at some point I had 7 jeannes and like only 1 of the other vnc charas bc the printer had so many extras and she's arguably less popular HDHFJSJHDJS anyways, i think i'll probably do less die cut individual stickers for my next con...

anything old that i only have 1 or a few copies left (meaning i won't reprint) i may not have for display anymore bc of space concerns... before my next con ill just post them on social media to have people claim them!

i may want to do less 3" charms in the future...? theyre a hard sell online prob bc i cant really do deals (i could but id have to be checking the stock every few hours which is not ideal), but they do a lot better in person due to deals.

it's been fun to try specialty products (I've tried scrunchies, stamps, pouches, microfiber cloths, coasters, enamel pins), but i... find they dont sell well for me... maybe my art doesnt have that wide mainstream nostalgic merch type appeal idk... maybe im just not good at designing or advertising them wahahaha. (specialty charms are still charms and i wouldn't necessary consider them a part of this)

my jojo buttons were really popular at anime north 2019 and fan expo 2019, but when the part 5 anime concluded, i noticed that interest for the interest completely moved on 😭 (or it's possible that everyone who was interested bought the buttons already?). part 6 anime didn't rejuvenate the same level of interest. it was a struggle to sell even more than a handful of these at each AN 2022 and 2023. right now they're taking up a lot of space in my con luggage that i'd prefer for newer, better art. i still love the art i did, but unfortunately, i think ill give them a go if i get into otakuthon (and maybe fanexpo too), then it'll be time to retire the jojo buttons. sometimes fandoms come and go so fast, and it's difficult to keep old merch around when they don't have any more interest and when they're occupying a lot of space.

my banana fish lollipop charms do not sell well, and i only sold 5 of them in a 3 year period, across cons and my shop. i created a bargain bin at AN, and it really helped me get rid of old things! unfortunately even in the bargain bin i could not sell a single one of the banana fish charms. maybe it's the art that's not appealing, the characters aren't recognizable, the price point for a lollipop charm was too high, i wasn't hitting the right audience, the market was slow around the time, even when it was included in my promo post... etc. these lollipops were my first time making specialty charms. unfortunately i think that's the last time making lollipop charms, and about time to recycle these charms, so that i have space for fresher and better art!

other thoughts moving on:

maybe go back to simplifying my art a lot more... if i keep making drawings like my great ace attorney tarot + zine, witch hat atelier print, and pandora hearts print, then id not only take 1 month per illustration, id also be destroying my arm 😭 i stopped stylizing my art in 2021 bc i found that my art was getting sloppy in 2020 + i was really struggling in life drawing in school. i needed to buckle down and be more conscientious when drawing poses, learning anatomy and structure... and bc getting back into anime in 2021 really helped me cope with the isolation of the lockdown, so that had a huge influence on my style. but bc of that i think it just took longer and longer to make illustrations and that's something i no longer really wish for.

i really like the period of my art in 2017 with a lot of my persona 4/5 art bc it still has structure even though it's simplified... and the style in my zelda icon... mayhaps experiment a bit more this summer if i can...

I am in my final years of high school and am starting to think about college but I have no idea what I want to pursue. I know I love art, so for a long time I have been thinking about getting an art major or going to an art school.

I’m reaching out because I ABSOLUTELY LOVE YOUR ART and I think you are a very talented artist! I have been in love with your art for so long and I am curious and wondering how you are able to fit drawing into your life?

1.) If you are going to college for art, or went to college for art, what is it like? Do you think going to school for art or having an art major is worth it?

2.) how can I fit art into my everyday life? I’m sure you have work and other things to do in your life so how do you balance it out? (I just want to know how you can draw as much as you do!)

3.) do you do art as a hobby or a career? If it is a hobby how to you balance art, work/school, and home life? If it is a career or part-time career is it an alright source of income?

i am going to CRY this is the sweetest message ever. i'm happy you found your niche and i'm even happier that i could help inspire that!!! i'm not sure if i'm gonna be able to answer all your questions, but i'll try to squeeze in some possibilities where i fall short:

1) growing up i definitely figured i was going to end up in art school because that's what everyone told me i should go into. but as i got older in high school i was kind of panicking cuz i really didn't want to turn my hobby into a job, and i figured out that i wanted to go into education!

but that's just me- my wife is actually going to college for graphic design sometime soon because she loves what she does. if it's something you really enjoy, and that you think you can monetize while still enjoying it, then it's definitely worth it! money is important but you need to put you and your happiness first.

2) to be honest, i haven't had the time or energy to do much art lately (if you look at my post dates you can see how spread out they've been the past year)- but this entirely depends on how you manage your time and your workload. i'm horrific at time management! so that's my problem. BUT, i think sneaking in drawing time in little ways helps a lot, as i tend to sketch small panels of a potential comic or animatic on notebooks and papers while i'm listening to lectures. i've even posted ms paint doodles i've drawn during class

i always have plans for what i'd like to draw once i have the time. it's kind of motivating, but also frustrating, and it's hard to efficiently empty my brain of ideas while still keeping up with everything else. this might be something you'll have to wiggle around once you get settled into a routine each semester!

3) i really wanted art to stay as a hobby for me. the idea of drawing and creating art every day for things i wasn't inspired to do made me really nervous, because what i really wanted was to make fanart and draw my little guys all day lol

if you take anything away from this, i think the most important thing is that if you want to keep art in your life, you will. if you desire having time to make art just for yourself, you'll find time to work that into your life, one way or another- but in order to do that you absolutely need to have a positive mindset about what you're going into, and if you can't find that positivity, maybe it isn't for you

I'm losing my queer little mind over how it's cannon that Crowley's favourite song is literally I'll Be Your Mirror I am so unhealthily happy but oh my GOD y'all

if you've never listened to Pale Blue Eyes it is literally fucking HEARTWRENCHING i can't cope i'm honestly kind of shocked it's not on their cannon playlist because it just fits her side of the divorce SO WELL. like bfr I'm GNAWING on my bedframe. and you cannot convince me they hear it and absolutely break. down. every time.

also i know we got him talking about velvet underground in season one but it's just SUCH. a good band for him?? Like whatever music niche they've hit i can't even explain but it's literally PERFECT for her and I literally might even argue it's more perfect that Queen. Like, Crowley wouldn't be listening to deathcore or shoegraze or nu metal, grunge, punk etc even though those are quite stereotypically seen as like, demonic genres of music LMAO I can't quite see it. he would appreciate it, sure, but his fave type of music is whatever the fuck Velvet is doing Underground somewhere it just fits.

Tbh almost ALL of VU's discog fit Crowley in one way or another it's wild and I hope Good Omens singlehandedly make VU's streams go up after this like babe HAVE YOU LISTENED to After Hours?? THREE YEARS OF WRITING 🧁 (or close enough!)

Lemme start by saying I am tired. One hater takes enough out of me, I have ADD hypersensitivity, so yeah, still kinda recovering!

I wanted to make this something super happy! And actually on time, but literally, one day later, today some asshole wants to show up in my tumblr inbox and complain? And it was about the old me! So I'm doing it early! I’m here to celebrate my growth! Fuck them! Lol 🖕🎉

They were basically, oh, you’re not Q! You’ve fallen off! No, I’m not! Q is dead! And Q was never truly entirely me! I will always be grateful if she hadn’t taken the first step, I wouldn’t be here, but Q got scared even writing the simple niche of Gon carrying Ki more than once! I still remember that authors note Q wrote apologizing! I wanna laugh at her! Like she owed anyone anything! It was like her fourth fic, I think.

I get her, part of her still lies in me! Like I’m sorry to that person you’re so insecure and pathetic that someone changing and growing into a confident person who writes what she totally likes full on indulgence! Bothers you! She was always in there okie! She was just scared!

Creating Qutie was the first step. And I’m proud of her and how far she’s come! I don’t care anymore if everyone hates me! I know most probs do! I am confident and happy about my presence here! And love that I can speak up without fearing anymore! Realizing I don’t fit! Or belong with the fandom was the best thing that ever happened to me! I don’t forgive the og hater/stalker and made me poof Q, but I am actually thankful to them.

My third year anniversary of writing is coming up on Sept, 4!

And I probs would’ve made a speech about how happy I am and how far I’ve come then too! So consider this that! Except it probs would’ve been 50 tags cuz that’s my style lol 😚

No matter what anyone says I am proud of me!

I love my writing, and I love my fics! It really just is the simple concept of imagining finding an author you like! And then there are tons of works ready for you to read! Even if they're small thingies like mine! I was into GK back in 2012, but I was young and there wasn't any GK really, and plus after CAA I was just depressed there was nothing there for me. So I left! And then 2020 of June I fell back into Gonki!

I watched tons of reactors and got back in, but I couldn't find anything that was my taste fic wise, so I just took a leap of fate, I found maybe one fic of Gon carrying Ki maybe one and billions that I did not like! So I decided to do it for me!

I wanna be with Gonkillu forever! I don't wanna imagine a world where I leave again! But on the chance it ever does happen? Look what I've done for me! I've become that author I would like with tons of fics all ready to read! For me! 90+ will be there if it does happen.

And nothing pleases me more! I do reread my fics as is! But the idea of knowing me of the future should something ever happen has that... it's the best feeling!

And no one will take that from me! When I couldn't find anything I wanted in 2020 I didn't go to writers and go WAHHH WAHH WAHHH DO WHAT I WANT I took action. So no loser anon is gonna stop me. If you liked the old me become her, but I like the new current me more! Who goes full in no fear!

I do wish there was a GK world and I will say stuff like that! Cuz I do wish there was! But I've never gone to a writer and been like dooo this for meee, like!

I put my money where my mouth is and am creating the GK world I want for myself!

Hello!

First, I hope you all are doing well. I'm a huge fan of the blog and I greatly appreciate all of the hard work you all do.

Second, I know this blog primarily deals with fiction (or at least, those are the posts I see the mist on here). Yet, I was hoping to get a bit of insight concerning some creative non-fiction essays I've written. I've almost always written fiction and poetry, but I feel incredibly excited about these pieces I've written. The few times I have been published by journals, they have usually been very niche topics that fit the journals in question. But for CNF I really don't even know where to begin without an agent. Google searches are very generic at best and sketchy at worst.

Do you all have any ideas on some places to look at getting them read/considered? I've found a few journals that are willing to publish CNF but they are generally so focused on fiction, it's hard to get an idea of what they would be open to in non-fiction and I feel like I'm floundering a little.

I suppose what I am really asking is where would you begin sending out drafts for creative essays?

When it comes to non-fiction, you have to look at the subject of your work to narrow down who would be interested in it. An essay about reconnecting with your parents while hiking might go one of two ways - the first, if your focus is on hiking and the nature around you and how it relates to your relationship, might work better for an outdoors or hiking magazine or website. The second, if your focus is on your relationship with the hiking as less of a focus, may work better for a magazine focused on more relationship-related stories.

Figuring that out is down to doing your research. Does your essay seems like it fits both the tone and topic of what the magazine has put out before? Does it match the general theme? This will take time and might cost money (always lean on your local library first!), but it's better to put the effort in than to wildly send off work. Once you've got the hang of it, you'll eventually find the right places that work for you.

Weekly Writing and Reading Update

Hello, being sick sucks!! So bad! I had a great time visiting my family and meeting my baby nephew, did not enjoy the germs I picked up on the way home.

(Technically today was the last day of isolation, but I am still testing positive and also while I feel VASTLY better I still don't wish to, like, actually go anywhere or do anything. I find tidying up very comforting, though, and I'm pleased I can do light chores again instead of just keeping myself and the cats alive.)

At least I got in binging the entirety of Lower Decks? I never binge-watch tv, but it is good to be back in the warm embrace of Star Trek, so to speak.

Writing

I'm also really happy that I'm well enough to write again! Mostly easy stuff, but I will probably have a lot of time on my hands, not just with the holiday but with not particularly wanting or being able to do jackshit else.

at the back of the holy temple, a duet for two voices - I have got a start on the next chapter, but as you can imagine this story takes a fair bit of thought and care so it will likely be another week to post the next chapter, my apologies! (I also owe...a lot of replies to comments, sorry!)

Miss Fell and Miss Crowley Go On Holiday I'm sure everyone remembers this extremely niche AU that was last updated in November of 2021. Anyway, I read it while I was travelling and really fell in love with it again and I'm slowly picking it back up! Never give up hope, folks! Whumptober 2023 - my FIFTH year of doing it!! I've already finished a few prompts, and it's as much fun as ever (and, needless to say, has already birthed a new AU I'm excited to write 60k-120k words about). I am hoping for my best year yet <3

Reading

ugh, I really miss being able to focus enough to read, hoping for that to come back soon :/ But before My Illness, I finished: Our Wives Under the Sea -- a friend said this was the best book she'd read all summer, and I think it's up there for me. It's haunting and weird and beautiful and sad and I loved it very much.

Painted Pomegranates and Needlepoint Rabbis: How Jews Craft Resilience and Create Community - hah, I just realized this was a gift from the friend who made the Our Wives rec! I've got a little theme of reading about how craft creates meaning in various communities/subcommunities, and this fits right in. It's definitely an academic text, but I found it extremely accessible. It doesn't present a very diverse portrait of Judaism -- which the author absolutely admits to and apologizes for -- but for what it is, it's a very interesting and valuable text, and I'm glad I read it and it's part of my collection now.

So there was this discord full of grassless twitter teens who thought it would be funny to push a really annoying teenage girl to Cindy's server. That server was about Sims 2 Beta content. ANYWAY, that girl was annoying in Cindy's server and Cindy wasn't having it. Then that girl was like "I'm autistic" and a bunch of the MOST annoying simblrs got a hold of that and threw a fucking FIT."

This caused Cindy to be like "fuck this, I'm out." so she went on to just doing vlogging. tbh she like made the mistake of validating their shit, which was her first mistake tbh. Then she found out she had alopecia etc etc. Then her husband or boyfriend left her after cheating??

tbh all this I only know because I run simsecret which is where this story originally broke back when it was JUST some fucking niche fandom drama.

NOW though, after that Cindy found out she could be an Amberlynn esque drama vlogger. Which means that simsecret is getting blamed for this and people are talking about it there. tbh, this is lolcow tier drama now.

honestly? i kind of hate everyone here. from the cunty teens on discord, the tatte.life people for being fucking mad at a girl for making money off of manipulating them, and tbh? Cindy. Seriously, get off the internet and stay off the internet. Girl, honestly, stop feeding them your life. They'll eat and eat and eat until there is nothing left of you.

Obviously the only morally right person is me, the person who runs a failing sims drama blog and yelled at a bunch of teenagers in a discord server until I got kicked out <3

edit: I should clarify that we're mostly getting blamed by people who hate simsecret anyway. the cindy thing is so far outside the community that i doubt they know simsecret even exists. well, i know lolcow does, but, it's fucking lolcow.

An interesting question! I'm limiting this to anime and manga since that's most of what I've been into for a few years now and my list of beloved characters is too long as it is. 😅

In no particular order, since goodness knows even the entries on this list are very much apt to change:

Olruggio (Witch Hat Atelier) - I love a good grouchy character who secretly cares immensely for people, and he has an amusing goatee situation to boot. Also his role within Qifrey's atelier is similar to my actual job, so I vibe heavily with him.

Sarasa (Kageki Shojo) - I love stories about performers and I love Sarasa's determination and confidence. She is so very much herself in the best way and we should all try to be like her tbqh.

Gennai (Ooku) - Gennai is possibly the coolest human being ever on the planet, a true renaissance lesbian who can write smut, invent cool shit, and create the first vaccine to help with an epidemic raging for decades. Also Gennai gives me all the gender feels and I like it.

Yuuri (Yuri on Ice) - As someone whose career goals were cut short by anxiety, I have always found Yuuri the most relatable character that way, and the fact that he manages to get up and try again even though it's hard as hell for him makes me cry. It's so hopeful.

Alice (Ancient Magus' Bride) - I love Chise with all my heart, but somewhere along the way with this series, I developed an even bigger soft spot for Alice. She's trying so hard to be useful, much like Chise, but she goes so quick to anger when anyone tries to take care of her in return and it breaks my heart.

Makio (Ikoku Nikki) - I can't even begin to count the ways that I vibe with Makio, whose entire mode of existence is intensely relatable to me as someone who's pretty much the same age. She isn't all put together but not in a "oh, wacky disaster!" sort of way, more of a "she has cobbled together things that work for her kinda but can't withstand the addition of another person" sort of way. She's also super pretty and I swoon. I'm reading this manga painfully slowly in French just for her.

Masa (House of Five Leaves) - I love one (1) awkward samurai who manages to stumble his way into a life of crime because he really just wants to find a place where he's happy and wanted.

Chihaya (Chihayafuru) - Chihaya has exactly two brain cells and they're devoted to karuta and Daddy Bear and I love that for her. Her passion for a niche card game is fantastic and the way she wants to connect to other people through karuta is the best.

Kikuhiko/Yakumo (Showa Genroku Rakugo Shinju) - He's such a stubborn jerk so much of the time and I adore him for being such a beautiful stubborn hot mess who's unwilling to admit to being a stubborn hot mess.

Seigi (Jeweler Richard) - I will always love a good disaster bisexual and, even if Seigi isn't necessarily bi, he definitely fits in right here. His breathless narration of his boss's beauty is frankly amazing - as is his inability to recognize when everyone around him is going "sir, are you dating this man? - and his care for others is touching. I'm dying to get more of his story asap.

i kind of picture her like maddy perez from euphoria to an extent- not as outspoken or with the ultimate goal of doing nothing and being a trophy wife - but as someone who knows how to get exactly what she wants. over the years she’s learned how to be the best version of herself. she knows exactly what to wear and what features of her body to highlight that bring her the most attention. she knows exactly what to say and how much to give someone while still being a total mystery. she’s perfected the art of allure.

when she was 18 she initially tried to become a fashion model, but her height was never really her strong suit. it was her charm that really drew people in. so she had to pivot career choices and with social media’s constant growth she found her niche. she started off as a typical influencer- posting pictures in trendy places with trendy clothing. she gained followers pretty quickly and after countless dms begging her for dates, nudes, attention, etc; and the opening of onlyfans she realized just how much she could profit off people looking at her.

like you would be shocked just how much people are willing to spend to see her. so she became a camgirl - a very popular one at that. i’m thinking she does general streams, private video calls/private chats, and uploads exclusive content (pictures and videos) she’s basically living her dream: getting paid while also receiving constant praise and attention.
