fic concept loosely based on this

au where time loops are a well-known phenomenon and exist as a means to bring soulmates together. everyone knows the only way to get out the time loop is to identify your soulmate. the catch: soulmates have to mutually identify each other and verbally acknowledge the soulmate-ship, or else the time loop continues. often times it takes much longer for one of them to realize, leaving the other person stuck, with the knowledge that their soulmate is frustratingly oblivious.

daniel knows the first rule of soulmate time loops is: find your bucket of paint guy- the person that does the extremely specific thing at the exact same moment every day that makes you go… oh shit i’m in my loop. (daniel doesn’t think anyone’s bucket of paint guy has ever actually been a guy dropping a bucket of paint, for the record). rumor has it that your soulmate will be someone close to your bucket of paint guy. befriend your bucket of paint guy, meet your soulmate sooner, easy peasy!

max is daniel’s bucket of paint guy. it takes daniel several loops to realize it because he’s never heard of anyone’s being someone they already know. once he figures it out he’s shocked because what if this means his soulmate is someone he already knows? what if his soulmate is martijn? or victoria? he starts spending more time with max hoping he’ll wind up playing soulmate matchmaker, all the while wondering why he hasn’t hung around with max all that much lately because wow he’s missed him! max is as funny and lovely and sweet as he’s ever been and after a while daniel forgets about the soulmate thing because what’s really so bad about living the same nice day with max over and over and over again? the wow i love being around him i could do this forever to oh fuck he’s my soulmate pipeline! when daniel finally goes to max and is like “pretty sure you’re my soulmate” max just looks at him and smiles like it’s the most obvious thing in the world- “it took you a very long time to figure this out, daniel. i of course knew on the first loop it was always meant to be you.”

The MHG3 Queer criticism is so stupid to me.

Back then, it would be hard enough to get a queer character in ANY cartoon, let alone Monster High. So now that the new cartoon features OPENLY queer characters that are portrayed in natural and healthy ways, it’s a problem because “it’s not the way I would’ve done it”.

This show is arguably the most progressive kids show in terms of queerness and people don’t like it because the wrong characters are queer.

It’s such petty shit. Your headcanons can queer-up whoever you want, but don’t act like a show is doing something wrong because fanon isn’t canon.

which is, an au where Gortash doesn't let things be when Durge dies, but rather, he goes and tracks them down. and finds their body in such a state that he's certain there is no bringing them back, not like they were, but... their brain, at least, is mostly intact. And that's something he can work with.

what I'm saying is that Gortash in this au has one Very Special steel watcher that is just for Him and him alone.
