While Pentakill is (musically) my least favourite band from lol, I'm a Sona main and a Mordekaiser simp, I know them by heart, 🎃 (this sounds way more threating than it was meant to lmao) (and I do not know them by heart, I just love Sona and Mordekaiser and would very much enjoy being stuffing to a sandwich if they're the bread if you know what I mean

Originally I added the bandages to mirror my real hands being covered in Band-Aids when I made my sona. :0 (It was due to cat scratches and dry skin don't worry-)

Now they represent my "artist hands".... and my still really dry skin XDD

Oh yeah absolutely. His crab arm is so heavy that if he falls into the water he'll sink 😬 he cant move it fast enough to help him swim to the surface.. good thing Blue Beauty is always nearby! <XD

It also takes a lot of energy to move and he deals with sore back/shoulder muscles a lot. The way the crab arm formed, its like all the muscles in his back are used to lift and operate it. When he walks around he kind'a uses it as a crutch or a third leg. His legs each take a step and then his crab arm lifts forward and clunks on the ground.

"tap tap.. CLUNK. tap tap.. CLUNK."

Despite all this though, Louis still really likes his new arm and isn't bothered much by all the hardships it brings :)

WELCOME TO MY PRESENTATION

(Also thanks for the excuse to draw my Vessel sona)

Don't get me wrong I don't hate Nosk, they're one of my favorite characters in Hollow Knight and media in general. I absolutely adore the concept behind them and the SUSPENSE through those tunnels leading to the big reveal still remains one of my favorite scenes to come back to in HK. The design and concept behind them is very neat and the overall feeling of that first time you enter the arena and see that cutscene is just. Wonderful.

That said, my issues are all about the actual fight. Specifically the attacks.

Nosk has arguably one of the most interesting buildups to a fight in HK, and is in one of the most creepy areas of the game, considering the arena and atmosphere of the fight too, I was expecting this to be a hard boss. I was expecting really difficult and potentially creepy attacks. The OST is one of the most anxiety inducing tracks in the game. Yet the entire fight just amounts to them.. running around? Occasionally jumping onto the ceiling? It feels like a rip off.

Nosk literally only has three attacks and they're all easy to dodge/cheese, if they were just small parts of the fight, it'd be fine, but instead 50% of the fight is just Nosk running across the arena, which is easy to dodge with or without the use of hiding under the platform(still one of the funniest ways to cheese a fight honestly).

Nosk has a bunch of hanging CORPSES in their den, so I thought that maybe they'd have a close up attack where if you got too close it'd trigger them swiping close range, kind of like this:

Extremely low budget explanation but STILL

The attack with screaming and the infection getting everywhere? NICE! Nosk on the ceiling shooting orange juice at you? GREAT! But the fact those are basically the only two good attacks in this fight with THREE really just. It weighs it down for me man.

By this point in the game(I mean I had to Google where Nosk was since I only saw art of them on my first playthrough since they're hidden), plenty of bosses had phases, too. I feel like the fight could've easily been more anxiety inducing if they had a few phases.

For example:

Phase one - same as current fight + close range attack

Phase two - running attack happens less, potential variations of other attacks, speed up things a bit

Phase three - more orange juice, maybe webs(since that's how the other creatures in the background appear to be captured), could potentially do some jumping version of the running attack(like jumping around the arena aggressively making them harder to do damage to without being hit)?

I'm obviously not a game designer, but I do like rambling about things and potential ideas that could happen to make things better.

The Nosk fight on its own isn't even terrible, it's just the fact that it doesn't live up to the buildup of the way to the fight and the cutscene in the beginning, let alone the absolute panic the OST makes me feel.

Oh and don't even get me STARTED on Winged Nosk. HOW DO YOU MAKE SOMETHING LESS TERRIFYING BY ADDING WINGS IM IN GENUINE SHOCK

I know I probably repeated myself a lot and this is very scattered, but I hope that you somehow enjoyed seeing me ramble aggressively about a fight in a silly bug game that I think has issues anyway.

In conclusion Nosk has an amazing concept, design, OST, atmosphere, and some alright attacks, but really could've benefitted from some more attacks/phases.

I wrote more about this fight than I did for my English essay on Thursday so I don't know what that says about me but do with that what you will

funny weird fursona from ages past hours while i wanna take this opportunity to share my art, i kinda also wanna reach out to everybody who had cringy neon old fursonas and oc's that they're embarrassed of or feel like they need to shittalk every time they mention them bc "theyre totally better at making characters now i swear!" this is my fursona splash. i've changed sonas a few times, but none of them will be as important to me as her. she's not there yet, but next year in february, on my birthday, she will be 9 years old. i made her feb 22nd of 2015, my 9th birthday. i stopped using her eventually, because i thought i'd grown out of her. i used to show her to people and laugh about how stereotypical of a mary sue she was, how she had a demon AND angel form, how i'd ship her with characters from whatever media i was interested in at the time, how she had super secret sparkle powers that could do anything and how she's "not me anymore" then i remembered how crushed i felt when my friends at the time first started calling her one. i was knee deep at that point in thinking mary sues were dumb, and felt really bad about it when a friend said she was a huge mary sue and how i should probably change her. they even got mad when i said i didnt want to and told me i "couldn't take criticism". ive tried so hard over the years to distance myself from her while trying not to be too hard on her, to enjoy her in an "ironic, more experienced way" and regard her as what NOT to do.

this is the first ever drawing i did of her. another oc of mine turns 9 on my bday, and ill do art of her too, but this is where i made her. she was a drawing of firestar that i got bored drawing and decided to slap some neons on from the ms paint advanced preset colors. as you can see, she hasn't really changed much. her name used to be colordrop, because i had a stuffed bunny around that time with the same name. i think i renamed her to splash because i liked splashkittyartist. is the art good? no. did i really care? not really! i didnt even know it was bad at the time, because it honestly wasn't. i just wasn't as far in my art journey as i am now. im glad i never deleted my deviantart account, and i plan at some point to go through and save the images that are important to me on a google drive of some kind. aslong as im able to remember and keep her, she's an important part of myself. she's still me, just from a different time, and also so much more than that. im not sad about her, not in a nostalgic "i wish i could go back way". im happy, if anything, because i only recently realized we shared a birthday. isn't that cool? to not only have an oc that was made on your birthday, but reaches milestones with you? when she turns 18, i'll be 27. when she's 27, i'll be 36. i think that's pretty neat. i think it's important for every artist, if they struggle with this, to look for their old oc's and fursonas and whatnot from when they were kids and instead of looking at them through a lens of "im better now, do you see how bad i used to be at this whole character making thing though? its funny.", instead be kind to your old creations and go "wow, i had alot of fun with you. i wonder if i can have even more." if you're able to, start using them again. write with them again, even if its small and silly and more out of whimsy and joy than actual plot development. i implore you to be kinder to kid you. even if kid you wasn't very kind themselves. if you would look at another kids drawing and oc and go "wow thats amazing! you're so creative!", then you should regard what you made then with the same enthusiasm. put your own work on the fridge if nobody else did. anyways, ramble over. i'm very passionate about this subject because i lived it, and i deeply enjoy reclaiming what i was made to feel embarrassed of. so moon darkraven, demon wolf with an anime scythe and scene bangs and red eyes and neon colors that don't mix, i think you're doing great. i hope you're doing well, wherever you are now, and that so is the person who made you. happy early birthday to me and my special little gal

1.Have you ever picked up a habit from developing/writing one of your own characters? And if so, who and what?

i don't think so actually. generally I give my habits (and habits from friends and family and other irl people) to ocs instead. I have picked up some odd habits from drawing and cartoons in general though, especially anime. mostly cause my brain can't exit artist mode and i'm constantly thinking about how i would draw stuff, so it's like that 'making weird faces when your drawing an expression' but instead it's 'over exaggerates my every movement because i am thinking about how i would draw that movement'

11.Which character has been through the most design changes?

gosh! a lot of pokemelody characters have beeen through DRASTIC design changes but not like, the most. so probably my sona character! here's a sketch i did once showing the basic progression. during the redesign segments though there's a bunch of mini phases of drafts that didn't stick. they've been through a few different eras. I like to split it into three main eras! the primative era (defining traits are galaxy hair and high fantasy aesthetics) the Sailor era (this era had the most story as a self insert oc, defining design traits is a sailor-fuku outfit and pigtail buns.) the confused era (era where i rebooted my sona but was still figuring stuff out, this era's defining traits is a visible ribcage, and way too busy/unfocused of a design) And finally the modern era! (simpler and more focused design but has a couple other forms with the shape shifter aspect. notably while theres still some scrapbook/sewing aesthetics the entire body is now bjd/doll instead of being a confusing mix)

fun facts about the design/s

-sailor era design had no heterochromia and had my irl brown hair, because i was younger and cringe culture was still super prominent: specifically that part where every 'character design tips thing' would tell you to avoid stuff like heterochromia and fangs and cool colorful hair unless they god forbid look like a mary sue.

-i think i've said this before but a year or so after I added that front bangs super long back hair short thing (plus litterally had my hair cut to match) a popular/influential artist made a character with this trait and it suddenly became a more common design trait. obvi i'm not trying to 'gatekeep' the design or claim i'm the first guy EVER to come up with it. but i would be lying if i didn't say i feel 'ahead of my time' and think it's funny to joke about this super big artist that def doesn't know i exist having 'copied' me fndjask

-one main design shift is the shift from the angel aesthetic to adding in some demon aesthetics

-all throughout the confused era the angel wings changed color according to mood, the chart used was to inconsistent and complicated though so this trait ended up being lost.

-starting with the confused era and sitll present in modern era my sona is a shapeshifting shiny mimikyu :3 and the idea is that their humanoid form is like, lowkey hollow, so the mimikyu body is inside

-despite having more inhuman traits i'd actually say modern era sona takes more inspo from my irl appearance than any previous design

26.What's your favorite relationship/dynamic between a set of OCs?

afndsjkfna i can't choose because i love different dyanmics for different reasons fnsdjkaf. ummm heres some honorary mentions!

-Sunny and Daisy, they're dorks in love, nice simple and wholesome! good ol' healthy loving relationship! classic malewife x girlboss lowkey

-kazumi and fukusha have this thing where they hate each other's guts, it's fun!

-SCOTT N TIP i've only posted about them once and they're lowkey co-owned sorta? (i designed them on my own and then an irl friend of mine took a likeing to them and started writing short stories with them, we'd like to make a point and click game series called 'Dectective Cardimen Scott + Tip' with them someday :3) Scott and Tip's designs litterally came from a little excercize I did on designing duos. Scott's a private investigator and was looking for an assistant, the enthusiastic Tip took up the job! they have this cartoon-inspired dynamic where their relationship is vague and up for interpretation. They're business partners and roomates at the least :3

34.What scene that you've written/imagined is your favorite?

hmmmmmmmmm generally speaking i prefer the like inbetween anti-climatic slice of life-y scenes but theres this climatic/hyped-up scene in arc '1.5' of Pokemelody that I'm excited for in the theoretical future where i make this a thing. arc 1.5 is the start of a redemption arc for the final villain of arc 1, the plot is the villain searching for someone she did something unforgivable too with the goal of apologizing.

also scenes where the characters are finally happy and content and theres shojo sparkles to express this my beloved.

scenes i include a lot of because they're what i want to see more of is like, characters having weird inhuman-physical traits both as casual details that are dispersed throughout but also like, when it's directly addressed or played around with. I feel like everything only ever gives me little hints of that sorta stuff and fanfic focusing on it is hard to come bye so i guess i'll just have to do everything msyelf around here lmao.

My Fem Presenting Aki model is honestly so good right now, I'm so happy with it. I'm gonna just kinda Go Off about it so I'm sorry but...

LOOK HOW CUTE THEY ARE!

Some things I love about this model right out the gate:

They finally have actual high entia wings, which has been a design point of Aki for literally MULTIPLE YEARS now.

I've put in a ton of references to shit I enjoy, like how the Four Directions tattoo I usually wear on my cheek is now the tattoo from XC3 or how one of their eyes literally has the Ouroboros while the other has Aki's original constellations.

Aki now has a mechanical arm, a gift from an old friend.

It also bears the insignia of Aki's old colleague and other half (literally), Cryptid. along with a decal of The Zohar (can you tell I like the entire Xeno-Series?)

As an avid pin collector I also jumped at the chance to throw these on them:

I currently have two main outfits for them. The first being inspired greatly by the look I first drew them in, just very heavily revised.

I still love the original look don't get me wrong, but I've been wanting to experiment with merging Aki's two (masc/fem) on screen appearances with my real life appearance, or at least things I enjoy about it. So I wanted to give Aki something closer to my own hair for once with the darker center part. I'll absolutely give them at least one outfit with a cute messy bob cut though, and yea I'll absolutely bring back their brown hair because brown/black hair goes underappreciated. I also wanted to add in the head wings because I feel like that's the single most glaring aspect of Aki that no one has ever got right and it's one of the main things I love about Aki's design. However I'm really happy with this look as simple as it is.

A minor detail I actually like a lot and could easily "fix" with some quick bone work but kinda refuse to because I think it adds a lot; is that their mechanical hand doesn't articulate in the fingers.

While I could easily just move some bones around in the hands I honestly really like this more as a feature than a bug. Just because I figure someone out there is gonna go "okay but is this just because you don't know how to fix it"

No. It's an intentional feature. I might "fix" it later, but I think it adds a lot of character and makes it feel like a mechanical hand and not just a reskin of an arm.

The second outfit is geared more towards my need to over-design everything I see ever, and it's where most of the stuff shown above is seen.

I basically kit-bashed 3 outfits together and I'm absolutely in love with this absolute mess of an outfit.

I gave them the slight smug expression because I need to be able to be a smug bastard sometimes.

The hair on this outfit is a bit of a nod to an older OC design I have that I do not have any good pictures of but here ya go:

Funny callback haircut to my old Fem-Sona.

I find it kind of ironic that people have gone from He/Him'ing me non-stop to referring to this Aki almost exclusively as "She/Her" and I'm just sitting here like "oh my god it goes both ways" because I accidentally caught myself doing it too, but I digress.

It's very hard for me with how masc presenting I am, to often depict myself in a feminine manner at all and associate it with "me" I typically look at it and go "yea that's a Girl™." So it's been really nice/cool to see Aki like this and kinda point excitedly like "THAT'S ME FUCKER! THAT'S ME!"

I'm just having a very "HER PRONOUNS ARE THEY/THEM" moment lol.

I really do look at this avatar and go "I Think I Hauve Covid" it's so nice. They're so cute and I love existing in this digital flesh.

Is there like, a "canon" or placeholder Dove? Does Krowie have any preferences? Probably not huh.

If not I do actually have a usable name to start from and could try to invent someone from there. Maybe try a few different genders and appearances out

I've been wondering about a placeholder Dove, since I know that like, if there were ever to be a Krow game (not saying there will be, but if there were) there would HAVE to be something.

The most I have thought of as "general canon" for Dove is thus: Dove works at a coffee shop/cafe along side Gabby (In my head) is a little shorter than Gabby (Gabby is like 5'9" so she's fairly tall for someone afab) My inclination is that they moved to Columbidae City, so they're not a born and raised resident, so they're unfamiliar with a good chunk of the history and stuff of the city.

If peeps want I could try to design a placeholder Dove for the funsies. Could be an interesting challenge as well.

Anyway. I'd still love to see more of your ideas nonnie. I always love seeing the creativity of y'all. It's amazing and flattering how you all want to engage with my little OC's in such a way.

Hi! This is kind of a specific request so don't mind me 😂

M3 with a wise, calm and soft talker MC. They are the kind of person you would ask for advice and they have soothing effect on the other. They are also very affectionate and spoil their Lis (mostly by cooking for them and they are very good at) also they're protective of them not in a possessive way.

But behind this sweet fursona an absolute grimlin that can destroy your entire career with the informations they collect about. Because they have a way with words they can easily win people over and collect very secretive information and use it whenever they want.

Anyway one day Lis come to mc hurt (not necessarily a physical one) MC asks them who did that maintaining this calm fursona but you can clearly see they are pissed.

Lis are hesitant at first but tell them anyway.

Ofc MC immediately knows who they are and luckily they have very dirty secrets about them that can ruin their career. They tell Lis to stay here and they will deal with it. Ofc Lis are worried that they may do something stupid and hurt themselves so they secretly follow them to the mfs who hurt them.

MC using the power of passive aggressive like stede bonnet (not me inspiring this from ofmd cugdutdghcghhfx)

.........Lis are shocked like how did they know that?! And ofc these people will end up fighting and destroying each other.

You remember how Stede basically set the ship on fire through the sheer power of being passive-aggressive? That's the level of power you have.

I'd like to imagine that all three of the Starsworn managed to get hurt during the same altercation and they all come to you because you're the healer. So;

The three of them went out to the tavern to get drinks when they got jumped by some bandits Sage is,, familiar with. Aka they don't like each other. And it did not end well.

Felix got thrown in the mud and had his clothes torn up. He also had his magic temporarily short-circuited to the point where whenever he tried to use it he would essentially shock himself, so his hands are hurt too. He's very in pain and very frustrated. Please hug him and kiss his hands.

Anisa got some cuts and bruises and a hard whack in the ribs. She was trying to protect Felix and Sage and ended up getting outnumbered. Her pride is hurt more than her body is, but I'd still suggest having her lay down for a little bit and getting her a cold compress.

Sage has the fewest physical damage but the most emotional. The bandits immediately used magic to immobilize him, so he was laid out on the floor watching Felix and Anisa get the shit kicked out of them and he couldn't do anything to stop it. He blames himself and feels weak. Immediately goes off to mope. You should probably chase after him and give him some reassurance.

Alright. You've got a sweet smile on your face. You're gonna handle this :) Don't even worry about it :)

Well, the next night you go out there in your Gentleman Pirate formal outfit and seek out the bandits

And of course the Starsworn are following you to make sure you don't get hurt, since you're not really... Y'know..... Battle-suited........

And then you, all smiles and sweetness and passive-aggression, casually call out every single one of them for something horrible and hilarious. And within five minutes they're going practically insane beating each other up. Something gets set on fire.

And you're just standing there, blood pooling under your boots and the light of flames putting a gleam in your eye as you just watch the destruction you've created. And then you look over to where the Starsworn are hiding and go 'I took care of it :)'

Felix is so in awe of the chaos you just casually wreaked. Have you always had this power?! Ooh he's already gotten some great ideas for pranks >:)

Anisa is concerned but she's also,, she's also a little into it,,, like as long you use your powers for good then she has awe. But she also makes a note to maybe keep an eye on you around political figures before you unintentionally cause a coup.

Sorry Sage is turned on and he is in awe of you and seeing you surrounded by blood and destruction and fire,, ohhoho that's gonna stay in his head :3 and yes he is intimidated by that but it only makes him hornier. So.

Your partner asks you how the hell you knew all that. You smile and kiss their cheek and say It's Just Your Special Talent :)

20. Do any of your OCs sing? If they sing, care to share more details (headcanon voice, what kind of songs they like etc)?

i think when aqua and amber still lived in their hometown, they would sing little songs together sometimes. neither of them are super talented singers, but amber thinks aqua's voice sounds pretty. (their psmd versions still like to sing together)

luna also sometimes quietly sings when shes doing chores around the team base, and blossom loves to listen to it.

topaz and azure sometimes hum whenever they're focusing on something.

21. Your most artistic OC

realizing now i don't often make my ocs artists lol. but luna likes to knit (she made the scarf she wears when she was human!), and an older oc of mine, pluto is a sculptor!

22. Is there any OC of yours people tend to mischaracterize? If yes, how?

aqua and amber are sometimes mischaracterized i've noticed, which i don't mind that much tbh since it gives me a pretty good insight on how others see them. aqua is sometimes seen as just. immovable(?) sometimes. she has very subtle changes in character depending on who shes around, and those little tells can give away a lot of what she truly feels. of course there are characters that shes a lot less subtle with (amber, rillaboom, etc.).

as for amber, sometimes shes seen as a lot more innocent than she actually is. amber doesn't act all friendly and silly because shes innocent, but because she chooses to act that way to brighten everyone's spirits. she has a lot of sorrow and anger deep down.

23. Introduce OC that has changed from your first idea concerning what the character would be like?

aqua is absolutely one of these characters. her original character was a lot more openly anxious, and had this really obvious strong act what would be destroyed the second anyone got mad or upset at her. if anyone did get upset at her she'd start apologizing profusely.

(very early rp screenshots circa march 2020. look at this. who even is this.)

aqua's actual character still ended up with some of these characteristics, but they're a lot more hidden now. she is still very anxious, but her strong act is almost impossible to break down now. its actually only happened like. twice ever since her character was properly established. she still apologizes unnecessarily but not in the same way she used to. also her strong act isn't very obvious, and a lot of other characters just think shes an asshole lol.

24. If you could meet one OC of yours, who would it be and why?

honestly not sure, since there's so many to choose from. i think ill go with blossom though, since she seems like she'd be fun to hang out with :)

25. The OC that resembles you the most (same hobby, height, shared like/dislike for something etc?)

i feel like i should say sunrise since she was my sona for years, but honestly i think luna and i are more similar. luna is more carefree than i am, and shes a lot more talented at knitting and sewing than i am but i tend to relate to her a lot nowadays.

Vee! My beloved sona got a massive design update, so it makes sense that they'd also get a new ref lol

Other than the color changes, their old design is pretty much still "canon" (it's their human "disguise")

First and foremost - how did Vee become a demon? Vee was possessed by a full shadow demon (basically a demon who's "lost themselves" over time, their physical forms are very... distorted). Vee's body couldn't handle the process and the damage sustained from their body trying to fit the distortion of the original demon, and they died. When Vee came back, they found their body kept reflections of what happened to them before dying, but instead of scars his body formed in shadow.

Vee has no recollection of dying or being dead at all. They only have their scars and the fact that they're part shadow demon to help them piece together what happened. Quite frankly they prefer it this way.

After becoming a demon, Vee's personality changes quite a bit - outwardly at least. They stop really trying to keep their emotions to themselves, which makes them much... louder... of a person as a whole. They are generally way more "chaotic" I suppose?? And, unfortunately, they become pretty violent. In their head, Vee has already payed the "ultimate price" for their (very tame) actions, and resolved that if he's damned if he does, and damned if he doesn't, why shouldn't he? Obvioulsy they're not just going around attacking people, but they will not hold back if provoked (how easy they are to provoke varies).

Because they're a demon, Vee has powers!

He can make his body fully shadow - during which he can choose if he wants to be tangible or not. In that state he can also bring up to 2 other people with him - making their bodies shadow as well (granted he HAS to be touching them, so he's not likely to take anyone he's not comfortable with with him)

Vee can "flatten" their body against surfaces. As long as the item is Vee sized or larger they can put their body on it. This is also a power they can bring others into.

Vee cannot bleed. If injured in a way that would normally draw blood, their body simply "seeps" more of the shadow substance their body is largely made of.

Vee also feels reduced pain (for the most part)

They can float (if so desired)

Vee doesn't need to eat, drink, or sleep. They continue to do so because they want some sense of normalcy

Vee can't use any of their powers too much or for too long without exhausting themselves. In the event he does exhaust himself, it would be the only time his body would require him to sleep. And, should he ever completely exhaust himself, he'd simply just black out and be unconscious for 13+ hours. Despite being hard to do, they have managed it, once.

Unfortunately, Vee has a very poor sense of time. Suddenly loosing a week of their life made keeping up with the rest very difficult and confusing for them. Vee also is highly sensative to lights (due to being made of shadow) and sounds (due to different ears), and will typically avoid going out and doing things during the day. There's even a threshold of too much light that, when met or surpassed, can physically hurt Vee. Which, granted, was a problem they'd had before, it's just that that threshold is much lower now.

My Dean Blunt Rotation aka High Fidelity Left A Bad Taste in My Mouth

For the past 2 to 3 months, my listening habits were teetering to an end; mostly via burnout by spontaneously listening to local artists daily and less likely of a musical discovery drought, whereas my interests of a certain artist or genre hasn't found its, sort of, "eureka", moment per se. I've been feeling less enthusiastic over the things i listen to since my friends have gradually lost their flare when it comes to discovering/exploring untapped parts of the music realm. Thus, in return, my enthusiasm not being reciprocated. It leaves an empty feeling from someone who has been yearning social interaction, may it be media being latched on the topic - it's a feeling that's been guilt-tripping me ever since I was stranded in the other end of the metro. I feel closed off, exposed to the crippling loneliness the lockdown has punished us: a defacto solitary confinement in a national level. Our act of staying online is also an act of staying alive outside.

To be fair though, it's a valid move to not boomerang compliments/gripes over an art you haven't consumed due to someone's autonomy. Your able body being to consume the art you wish to finish with free time is a luxury in of itself. The art is then failed to serve its purpose to reach its goal: You have squiggly lines heading straight to oblivion rather than swirling in the earlobes of a wandering cyber nomad. We, eventually, need to find something that could help us exit, rather than escape, from capital. We, in return, do not shut ourselves from the outside. Instead, we then tend to avoid the stress of protocols and outdoor fascism; Not avoid the indoor liberalism that is eating us alive and online. It's a capital punishment we never knew we signed up for ever since the onslaught of the virus and the state. Art for art's sake is nonexistent now, always has been, it seizes to ever since we went inside. Feeding off of a holographic meatloaf coming from a glowing screen. We have a real-life Karen acting as a nightlight in our rooms.

The COVID lockdown made us listen to music — both for better, for worse. For one, it made us pass most days. You could say the same for any sort of media: film, mixed media art, or whatever pre-Covid activity that sprung up during our time in isolation. For music, however, there was an uptick of new listeners that made others Wheel-of-Fortune the fuck out of their music discoveries in sites like RateYourMusic, Bandcamp, or even Sophie's Floorboard. We've continued to expand and became more open change of opinions and be less of a jackass towards someone else's opinions. On second thought, our opinions have been catalogued, leaving more notes than actual footprints of our previous listens. Our new discoveries made new bands and re-emerging bands, bands who faded to obscurity, crawl back in the surface with newfound interest from younger listeners (ie Panchiko, Jai Paul, and Dean Blunt) and this glowing, previously unseen and unexpected overwhelming support from fans of departed artists (ie SOPHIE, MF DOOM)

For the other, we've hogged gratuitous amounts of media, resulting into losing our primary direction as to how we want to consume our media based on the preconceived notions of what we want in our art. There is goodness in becoming directionless when you think about it, but there comes a cost to our identity as music listeners. Instead, we end up widening our tangents, falling in endless rabbit holes, having zero chances to emerge from the surface. In fact, i refuse to call it a "rabbit hole" instead i'd rather call it a "pipeline" of sorts — transitioning casual music fans into a full on, different, unique versions of themselves that would define them when laws and protocols have eased in the outside world. Our act of staying online has either made most of us break our character or enliven our past selves. The music pipeline is now more apparent, stretching the norms of what was once alienated by a silent majority, but now accepted as an acceptable form of expression. The more music we are exposed to has made casual listeners stranged out or react in ways that our personality have betrayed us or deemed not as acceptable to them. Still, not changing anything that was prominent pre-pandemic. Liberal cop behavior is stronger, now more dangerous than it ever was once perceived by the outside world.

HIGH FIDELITY? NO, THANK YOU.

Imagine a situation inside of a record, pre-pandemic of course, where you do not feel like lifting a record out from the shelf, instead, you window shop just for the sake of windowshopping. Capital and media made us think that going to record shops is a semi-productive activity. The age of discovery has died ever since High Fidelity romanticized and normalized the incelage of horny record diggers. Does this movie age well, yeah sure it does, for old 90s nerds at least. But did it translate well over in the past 20 or more years of events and tragedies that unfolded in pre-9/11 America? No it didn't. It was an age of free expression, only liberals would dream of whenever they take a sip of Guinness beer in their favorite dive bar.

Mind you, over a couple of months ago, it was my only chance in seeing why this movie was the talk of the town back when it was released. There's music, yeah, and attractive leading leadies, yeah, it has everything a 90s kid would love to salivate and drop their gonads over while they watch this movie. I obviously did not live to see the movie on opening day but i could imagine the scent that came out of that movie theater with attendees donning windbreakers and The Who shirts with popcorn dressing stains on their plastic cups. If there was a Filipino counterpart to this movie, i'd bet corporate champions Eraserheads and Rivermaya would soundtrack their music over and have either Tado or have Boy 2 Quizon, but i sense it to age like milk more than it could age like fine wine due to the senseless jokes one can execute in a Cubao or Cartimar record store.

John Cusack is obviously the incel in question here: a damaged, vengeful ex who constantly fails to live his partner's expectations and weaponizes his personality over the situations that has nothing to do with his interests. I spent the entire time being absolutely disgusted over the spineless responses of John Cusack's leading character. The movie then treads on flashbacks with John Cusack's failed relationships and what he could do to move on from each and one of them. If i could stand a SONA for 3 hours then I can't stand John Cusack being the dull entry point to incel, making more reasons why you should hate record store clerks who don't give an iota of shits to someone's inviting rapport. High Fidelity is opium for massive music circle jerks who can't take a single breathe of fresh air or a single quota of touching grass. There's more targeting weak and inferior guys and hot women who dump dumb overconfident dudebros more than the actual "music recs" in the entire movie. The more I think about this movie, the more I realize how our personality is in line towards Dick, the record store being unmercifully dunked on by the movie's two leading characters. He's an angel in the world of cynical bastards, witnessing both demons pitchforking record store customers in the ass while they're purchasing the latest Sonic Youth album.

I believe that Jack Black, the dark horse of High Fidelity, has a pleasing personality more than an irritating demeanor due to this behavior in the record store. In fact, outside of the record store, Jack Black doesn't seem to take the business is your pleasure act pretty seriously. Unlike John Cusack's character he brought his obsession over involving a record in an important memory/point of his life. There is so much stuff that has happened outside of the record store, so much for Rolling Stone and NME being the bible of music at the time, endlessly christening and shilling artists that believe to become the second coming of the Beatles. The music references here however are treated as fluff than it is a mechanism that would drive the senseless plot forward. If anything, there are events pointed out in the event that doesn't have anything to do with the life of the characters.

If anything, this movie did a great job at capturing the feeling of music bros being dumped on the wayside by a mature set of characters and how their current conditions aren't perfumed by the studios' liking of having to Cinderella story the shit out of a bunch of normal record store owners. The reality is in the reaction of one's social capital being invaded and we're here to witness how those reactions panned out in 2021. This is a villainous depiction of music nerds being the salt of the earth, the bane of all media discussion, still reflective of the insufferable salt of cyberspace found in music forums like 4chan and RYM. High Fidelity is a pipeline of 90s musicology, a dreaded fever dream of an owner waiting for the decade to end, trends ossifying and re-emerged by the hands of nostalgia-savvy individuals. It was, at its time, every music-movie nerd's excuse equivalent of Scott Pilgrim VS. The World. There are memories worth remembering and cherishing, and this movie isn't one of them.

DEAN BLUNT, WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK

In the past two weeks I've been fancying myself into sitting down and listening to different projects from the ever elusive, UK-based sound artist Dean Blunt. The first time i chanced upon his music wasn't too long ago - albeit a recent one in the time of COVID - was when I randomly stumbled upon his records at a Spotify recommendations section under John Maus (yeah lol i know the implications whenever his name is mentioned) - but then i was enamored by his online presence so quickly I put everything down and dedicated an hour or two researching about this man's music.

Other than the fact that his album "The Redeemer" wasn't the best record to start off in journeying through his discography: ending up disgusted and borderline bored even and I was more likely to lambast this record's aimless, pretentious art-pop inflections. By the end of the day, it was a preference long solidified by his undying fanbase. According to his hardcore fans, the music isn't really music, evaluating it as a free form of sound art, rather than sticking to a structured and conventional cues; the genre is nullified by most analysts of the arts. The growing interest of the general public towards Dean Blunt's pranks and antics have long appealed to my tastes as a chaotic neutral individual. Pranks that are well executed to piss off UK gallery connoisseurs and entertain ironic attendees who'd shit on the art piece rather than participate in it.

More of the resources I've found about Dean Blunt online: numerous aliases and collaborations that lasted around almost 2 decades. The most notable of all them, at least for my money, are either Hype Williams, a duo consisting of Dean and frequent collaborator Inga Copeland, and Babyfather, an art performance parodizing the pirate radio culture in the UK. I have not delved enough in Blunt's body of work to evaluate everything and what i could synthesize from it. For now, I enjoyed it as a form of entertainment. Well, color me impressed because Dean Blunt isn't clowning around, he, in fact, makes blissful and transcendental music from left to right.

Dean Blunt was the only few artists that made me want to binge on their discography. His movements in his music has attracted this pesky listener who thinks that being mysterious is a plus. I mean, look at me who thinks The Paul Institute, Panchiko, and Burial are the greatest artists that have walked the face of the earth.

The most I've enjoyed from Dean Blunt's discography are his mixtapes and collaborations: preferably his Soul Fire and ZUSHI, both of which were packaged as B-sides or supplemental releases rather than major releases such as the Babyfather project or the Black Metal releases. His knack for blurring the lines between genres still fascinate me as of this writing, and it continues to amaze me how he doesn't seize to compromise his art, he's here to prove a point and it sells quite well despite the lack of direction in his music. Blunt's music has more aggressive and hazy texture than the hollow, wide, soulless structure of art-pop/hypnagogic pop released today. He creates terrains from the rubble of his country's current shortcomings. The music overlaps the actual intentions with abstract concepts, becoming deconstructed down the line. In Babyfather, noise music coincides with Blunt's amateurish rapping. In Black Metal, Blunt isolates himself along with the assisted skeletal guitar playing. Both projects throwing all tropes in a vaccum alongside Blunt, who he himself would sought to become a personification of a musical void.

Dean Blunt is an entity that wishes to become one person, but no, this isn't a figure in a specific art form; this isn't Banksy, this isn't Bob Ong, this is made by one person, clearly it is if you listen closely, and it's been entrancing me ever since his presence was felt on the horizons of the internet. Undertale AU (Persona and Villain!sona Additon)

Hello! So you all know my OCs as their Multiverse jumping selves! However, I'm going to add in their roles in their Undertale AU. This was inspired by the Animation Meme "Into the Game".

Well, I made it clear what each of my OCs is. They are each half-monster.

Three half-goats (Ivy, Ian, and Prism), a half-skeleton (Camari), and a half-fox (Tessora), but what powers do they have? What do they do on the Pacifist and Genocide routes, and who is Kami? Where did Prism come from? What happened to her eye? Who harmed her eye? Why is she so cynical?

Well! Here I am going to answer a few of these questions! Ahem. So let's start with their powers.

Ivy, Ian, and Prism: They have the ability to use fire magic (much like Toriel and Asgore). Because all three are technical "creators," they have godlike abilities, but in this alternate universe, they're just regular half-goats. Ivy can summon a shield and her weapon of choice is a gun because her SOUL is KINDNESS and JUSTICE. She has the ability to create fire bullets for her gun and a variety of healing magic. Her flames are also not too painful. Magic is combined with intent, so sometimes her flames can become really hot or pleasantly warm.

Prism possesses the same SOUL traits as Ivy, but they have been corrupted, resulting in CRUELTY and CORRUPTION. She has the ability to summon a shield as well as a gun or knife of her choice. Her fire actually burns and does a lot of harm. She lies through her teeth, so any INTEGRITY she may have had is tainted beyond repair. She is incredibly harsh. She only ever uses fire magic with the intent of harm, so her flames are usually really hot. If you befriend her, though, she'll become a little like how she used to be and her flames won't burn you anymore.

Ian possesses the SOUL traits INTEGRITY and PERSEVERANCE. Ian, believe it or not, is a dancer, so INTEGRITY allows him to choose his own dance shoes. His PERSEVERANCE acts as a whip, and his flames aren't as harsh as Prism's, but they can still hurt. His flames are only used to cook or FIGHT. He is very kind, but he is also very protective and, at times, even mean. He usually doesn't mean to be that way; it's just in his nature.

Camari: This shy child is half-skeleton. She possesses bones as well as gravity magic. For unknown reasons, she also possesses Gaster Blasters. For unknown reasons, she suffers from flower-related attacks. PATIENCE and PERSEVERANCE are her SOUL characteristics. She, like Prism, can summon a weapon of her choice as well as a whip, like Ian, that renders people immobile. She can also use minor types of flame magic, and her attacks are varied. She usually doesn't mean any harm, so she doesn't do much damage; however, in Genocide routes, her bones can instantly kill you if you let your guard down. When she is possessed by Kami, her attacks become much faster and more brutal. The flower attacks intensify and become extremely harsh. Most people are unable to get past Kami and RESET unless they're really DETERMINED.

Tessora: She is a monster who is half-fox and half-human. She is far more capable than her peers. She can shapeshift, use flame magic, and illusion magic, she can trick people's minds, and she has a seductive voice. She doesn't shapeshift unless absolutely necessary. Her SOUL characteristics are BRAVERY and KINDNESS. She can summon a pair of boxing gloves and a shield. Her flame magic rarely appears unless she is FIGHTING or needs to cook. She has minor healing magic and can create illusions of anything. Her voice is like a siren's, deceiving people. When she is confronted with genocide, she transforms into a fox and her magical attacks become more ferocious. They match her feelings and she becomes more personal because she shows her fox form. She is one of the hardest to kill. ----------------------------------------------

If you don't first befriend Ivy and Camari, Prism is cold and difficult to befriend in the Pacifist route. If you approach her unexpectedly, she will not hesitate to kill you. She is otherwise very relaxed and kind. She only occasionally lets her guard down, and when you look past her rough exterior, you can see her softer side. It's pretty obvious she's not from this universe, but she'd rather not talk about it. She is extremely close to Camari and Ivy, but it is clear that she lies a lot. She's far worse and crueler in the Genocide Route than when you fight Camari (when Kami isn't possessing her). She does not spare you and continues to kill you until you kill her by disarming her and stabbing her in the throat. If you do, she will curse you with her last breath before confronting Camari.

Kami is a ghost who haunts Camari and can be found on occasion in the Pacifist route. They are typically withdrawn and even friendly. They will, however, tell you straight up that if you hurt anyone, you will die in a painful and satisfying manner. Befriending Kami is difficult because they, like Camari and Prism, remember RESETS. If you did Genocide before Pacifist, Kami will scorn you for your past sins; if you did Pacifist without genocide, they will be nicer and even calmer. If you did Pacifist and then Genocide, Kami will kill you the moment you approach them in the Genocide route. They don't appreciate being used for your sick enjoyment. They have no recollection of their previous life, but they are aware that they were betrayed. They will refuse to talk to you if you did a Pacifist, Genocide, and then Pacifist again. It will take much longer to befriend them after you betrayed them so coldly and then pretended everything was fine. Kami does not have a physical form, but if you perform multiple Genocides, she will possess Camari. They will be cruel and unforgiving. When they fight, they'll be worse Prism.

What is the origin of Prism? In this alternate reality, Prism came from a post-genocide route where she was the only one left alive due to some cruel joke. Her adversary almost took her eye, leaving her alone in a world where all of her friends and family have vanished. She simply fell through a portal and found herself in a Universe where everyone she cared about was still alive and her previous self was still present. (Basically, Holy Anon was right and she just randomly appeared.) She is cynical because she offered the child MERCY and KINDNESS, and they STABBED her in the back, but she was too cowardly to kill her. Then they had the audacity to SLAUGHTER Camari, who was perfectly willing to let them go and assumed she was dead. How was she supposed to react? Was she supposed to remain the same after the kid killed everyone she loved, but spared her? ------------------------------------

Ava: 'Cos your 🧠 ain't nothing in comparison if not Nancy: they aren't actually expecting me Nancy: they know me better than you do Nancy: and that I'd already be there Ava: Not mad, disappointed Ava: Gotcha Nancy: exactly Ava: 👍 Nancy: go tell Buster to call me when he sobers up Nancy: but not a second before Ava: Maybe you should have a drink instead Ava: get on the level Nancy: drunk photography sounds better in theory Nancy: it never develops how you think it will and not in a good way Nancy: have one for me Ava: Its a holy day Ava: take it off Nancy: If I believed that I'd be there Ava: You said it Nancy: that they see it as one, yeah Ava: Mhmm Nancy: I don't drink unless I'm 💔 everyone knows that Ava: It's not compulsory Nancy: being the only sober adult in the room that isn't pregnant isn't my idea of how to spend a holy day well Ava: And working is?
