Fun little ways I relate bisexuality to T Swift songs!*

*not claiming she’s bi for sure or anything! I just love her music and I’m bi so I like connecting to the lyrics by relating it to my personal experiences!

‘tis the damn season and dorothea are really queer to me. I love to think of the pairing as sapphic, but reading your post made me think of a bi4bi woman and man and that’s just incredible sweet haha. cowboy like me always reminded me of Puss in Boots x Kitty Softpaws (it’s comical I know), and that’s the most bi4bi straight-passing pairing ever.

willow is explicitly about a man but damn. Not sure if it’s the folk-y genre but the queer vibes are immaculate. Dress is my demisexuality anthem, I always fall for people who I initially met as friends and the attraction gets so INTENSE. mirrorball, Labyrinth, Sweet Nothing, peace, right where you left me and the lakes also give me anxious queer girl vibes. Glitch, to me, definitely has bi girl in an situationship with a straight man that she’s actually falling in love with kind of atmosphere.

The Very First Night, Gasoline, I Can See You and Maroon gives sapphic bisexuals to me, though I do believe they are in part (if not entirely) about men. And I just think that’s neat, that the narrator in the songs has such a queer approach to her relationship regardless to the gender of the muse. Not even all songs without pronouns can pull that off so well.

Vigilante Shit is incredible to me because it’s like she’s stealing someone’s ex-wife. (Also “I don’t dress for women, I don’t dress for men …”) It has hardcore badass bisexual written all over it. And every time Taylor sings “To tell you the truth, sometimes I wish I was her,” in When Emma Falls in Love, I can swear what the song is actually, unbeknownst to herself pining for is to date Emma herself. It feels like Taylor’s own subtly homoerotic version of Lacy by Olivia Rodrigo, or Heather by Conan Gray. There’s this playful genderbending thing Taylor does when singing the chorus of Question…? which also reads as very much a bisexual gaze to me.

17. any headcanons you're attached to?

BOY DO I HAVE SOME HEADCANONS IM ATTACHED TO. First off this post is required reading. its over a year old and its all stuff i stand by pretty strongly in regards to vylad. lets just start there.

ok hmmmmmmm see now this is hard for me because you could ask me about any specific like character or location or concept within mcd and i could give you headcanons for them immediately i have too many options. here's what I'm going to do I'm going to open the aphmau wiki and randomize a page on the mcd characters section and whatever I land on is what I'm going to talk about here i go.

I GOT KENMUR OK ITS KENMUR TIME. Well first off he's bi4bi and t4t with emmalyn so jot that down. Emmalyn is more on the history and literature side of things, but Kenmur is much more on the science side, he likes reverse-engineering things and he likes understanding how things work. He doesn't usually get as visibly excited over findings as Emmalyn does, but they are still very much equal in nerdiness.

Despite him going to the Irene Dimension, we don't get a lot of his thoughts about the weird stuff that happens to/around him in canon. I think he'd be very interested in Irene's Dimension, not necessarily because it's Irene's, but because it's a weird weird place with weird rules about how you enter and leave and how time flows while you're there and that's fascinating to him. He would've loved talking about the process of Zoey's portal activation with her if she wasn't so cagey about it.

I'm not big on the whole "Sasha was his fiancee thing" but I do like the idea of them being friends :) And I ESPECIALLY like the idea of him trying to figure out how to cope with the fact that a lot of the people he knew and grew up with turned into Shadowknights. Sasha, Laurance, even Hayden's guard, these were people he knew who all just died around him, some of which becoming much worse people for it. Shadowknights are so poorly understood that nobody (not even Shadowknights!) seems to really understand how it works or why it happens, and that frustrates him deeply. I think he'd be very interested in studying Shadowknights, but also feels very weird about asking Laurance to essentially be his lab rat. So he just quietly makes notes whenever he notices something weird and moves on. World's First Shadowknight Scholar!

27. what's something really interesting that you wished canon decided to explore more? alternatively, what's something interesting that you wished the fandom acknowledged more?

this question is fun because its actually two questions in one which means i get to spend more time talking heehee. there's pleeeenty of stuff in canon, not to go Kenmur-mode but we still barely have anything on how Shadowknights actually work aside from "you died oh noooo now you have to kill someone." This is not helped by how much conflicting information we get.

We ALSO also don't get a lot on how the magicks system works??? Oh everyone has magicks but not really but also kinda but you have to find it and some abilities are passive (Kiki can talk to animals all the time) but also most are active (KC animates dolls, gets tired when she uses it too much, its a big ordeal she has to work up to) and also some are so well-documented that there are entire categories for them (WHAT THE HELL IS BARRIER MAGICKS. WHAT DO YOU MEAN THATS JUST A WELL-KNOWN THING. EVERYONE ELSE HAS UNIQUE ABILITIES AND THEN THERES JUST "BARRIER MAGICKS" WHAT DOES THIS MEAN) and also maybe magicks are passed on by blood but also maybe not and also theres WITCHES now fuck you. And they hate magicks users for noooo reason despite "magick" being incredibly poorly defined at best. What is a curse? How do potions work??? Cursed Objects???? Cursed AMULETS????? WHY????????????? At least they tried to explain things about Shadowknights, when it came to magicks they just fucking gave up. I know its like this because they just used magicks as the macguffin of the week and had no plans on actually developing how it works, but i would literally kill to see plans on how they intended for this to work.

Interesting things Fandom should acknowledge is also fun. There are many. There are so many. I think the politics side of mcd is VERY interesting and very rarely looked at by fans, which is shocking to me considering how central it is to mcd's plot. Because despite the title of "Lord" there IS no active monarchy in Ru'aun, and that's BECAUSE of Irene (which was incredibly based of her), which changes the definition of Lord entirely. ITS REALLY NEAT!! O'khasis has a council!! Who the fucks on it? I don't know!!! But they have a council!!! Isn't that exciting?? This is not a joke I mean this so genuinely. Do you ever wonder if maybe the High Priest is on that council and thats why Zane got the job. Do you ever wonder if there's a reason someone so young and literally THE SON OF THE LORD got put into a position so early? Do you think having that extra vote on Garte's side helped things crumble at a quicker rate than it had been previously?? I do. I wonder these things. And you should too. please.

And SPEAKING of Irene being incredibly based, she did in fact do some things that are incredibly based!!! I know most people like to write her as a Secretly Malevolent God™, which like fair whatever I like to give her some evils too, but I really wish people would take more of a look at what was established about her in S1. There is a reason she is worshipped so widely by the people of Ru'aun and it's because she Literally Is a hero of the people. I think people are generally blinded by how she was portrayed in MCD S3 and in Mystreet that they forget that she was a person for a very long time before she lost it. Go back and look at some of the earlier Irene lore!!! I promise its much more complex and fun than "oooo your goddess is secretly evil and was never good and there is no hope or joy in the world ooooo."

169 😅 150 of which are for The Adventure Zone (I wrote a LOT of small fic for TAZ, and just a lot of TAZ fic in general)

2. What’s your total AO3 word count?

604,338, which remains absolutely wild to me. I hit the half-million mark this year.

3. What fandoms do you write for?

Currently Our Flag Means Death, but previously The Adventure Zone, and I have one Star Trek (TOS movies) fic.

Yeah, ok, some fun reunion porn for the big fandom and a collab with two pretty popular writers for the small fandom make sense for that top two in particular.

5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?

I try to, especially since I don't get that many, and I love getting comments so much that I just want to share my appreciation. Sometimes the spoons are low, sometimes I don't know what to say except "thanks!" and if someone just commented on several chapters I might not do that for all of them.

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

Well, Phoenix Fire is the Worst Ending, aka the destruction of the entire universe, plus unbearably sad between the main characters, so yeah.

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

I do have quite a bit of fluffy fic (Commit to the Bit comes to mind, there's also a Fantasy Costco Kravitz/Taako that's very sweet), but I immediately thought of for the benefit of all the broken hearts, just because it takes an incredibly bittersweet ending of the fic it's fixing and says FUCK THAT, how can everyone get a happy ending instead?

8. Do you get hate on fics?

I've never gotten any, even managed to avoid the twitter wank that WFU got when I wrote fics of it! (long ago, I did get some vagueblogging about some stuff in my TAZ fic, but nothing ever addressed directly at me)

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

That is where I started and why I started (my first smutty fic is pretty bad imho but it was popular, relatively speaking, because for a bit there it was the only unlocked smut for that pairing); my original rarepair was M/F bi4bi in a complicated polycule, and so there's some them+others works in there. (readers of for the benefit of all the broken hearts are nodding along like "ok this tracks") beyond that, I'm just going to say go look at my work.

10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?

Is for the benefit of all the broken hearts (and the rest of that series) a crossover??????? Like I'm legitimately staring into space thinking about the boundary line between modern AU and RPF and........ HUH.

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?

183 thousand words in a series: the only life you could save, with my beloved Ryn, when we were "just friends" - started as our attempt to co-write a reconciliation between Taako and Lucretia, and spun out into an entire timeline with themes spanning before the Stolen Century all the way into post-canon. Some pieces we wrote separately, much of it we wrote together. Even the last piece, which I published after Ryn died, includes a section that they wrote, about Taako trying to cope with Lucretia's death.

14. What’s your all time favorite ship?

Probably Mulder/Scully lol, tho I don't know if I've ever read any fic of them????

15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

One of my very first TAZ fics was a Hurley/Sloane backstory fic that was going to be basically a beat-for-beat retelling of The Fast and the Furious (oh, I guess that's also sort of a crossover?), but I only ever wrote the first chapter. I would love to write it at some point, because I think it would be fun as hell.

I'd also love to finish my TAZ Amnesty fic, sweetness follows, which is friends-to-lovers post-canon Minerva/Duck.

16. What are your writing strengths?

Character voice, I think. Possibly a stupid depth of canon knowledge for whatever the canon is, and I think I have a knack for figuring out how to reincorporate those details. Honestly, it's hard for me to say "oh these are my strengths and weaknesses", or at least today I'm having trouble pinning that down.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

Punctuation Pokemon, or rather, my sentences do get very tangly. I find endings really tricky, I've done a lot of work thinking through how to stick the landing. (This is one of the ways in which Ryn continues to live in my head, because they could always spot when I hadn't quite made it.)

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

Alas my Spanish (high school and college) is too rusty to even try, and I don't know any other languages.

19. First fandom you wrote for?

The Adventure Zone, although I wrote quite a bit of Agatha Christie pastiche in junior high, and a lot of Anne Rice influenced original fiction in high school and college.

20. Favorite fic you’ve written?

I love a lot of my fic, it's fun to go back and look and say "oh that!", and The Reckoning Arrives is up there, of course, because I loved writing it, and it saved my life. ("she's survived the impossible before" got me out of my marriage and 2 years later got me through the hospital. "you're here, so be here" got me through what came after that.)

But it does have to be for the benefit of all the broken hearts - she lives in my head, still, and I feel incredibly proud of all the work I put into it, the technical work, the emotional work.

Hey everyone! I’m Mae Crowe (@touchingmadness)! Some of you might already know me, but most considering the upheaval in the Writeblr community recently... Well, most of you probably don’t. I’ve been on Writeblr for six years as of August 2022, but I’ve been relatively inactive for the past year due to senior year of college, thesis work, and job applications.

In the time I’ve been away, I have a new contemporary fantasy WIP in the second draft that I am excited to share, as well as three WIPs in planning stages that I’m hoping to share somewhere down the road. I am also looking for some writers and WIPs to follow, because how else do you make friends on here?

Again, I’m Mae Crowe (she/her). I’m 22 years old and a recent graduate with a degree in communication. In terms of hobbies, I enjoy reading, writing, cosplay, and being an utter nuisance about Star Trek. I don’t really limit myself to a particular genre, but I tend to favor science-fiction and fantasy. My themes are generally pretty consistent, and my storylines tend to revolve around a character’s introspection and self-actualization. Most of my work is either adult or NA due to the heavier themes I like to play with, as well as just preferring to write at least marginally older characters.

My current WIP is an NA contemporary fantasy novel about an adult “Chosen One” dealing with the realization that the organization she dedicated her childhood caused her incredible harm. At its core, it’s about how parents and authority fail us and moving past childhood trauma to build the life we want. It’s her journey of growing up, dual POV with her supposed-dead mortal enemy, and yes, of course they have a romantic arc, even if I consider the story’s focus to be on their individual development. But they’re bi4bi and ace4ace M/F, if that’s what it takes to sell someone. And the female lead is touch averse and it’s not treated as something to be fixed because I am Touch Averse and Bitter. :))))

(This is incredibly oversimplified, so let me know if you would like to be notified when the full introduction is released later this week.)

I also have three projects that are in the planning stages that I might choose to share down the road. I can’t guarantee any of these will be formally released soon, but there’s a good chance they’ll be mentioned at least in passing.

Adult space opera. A crew of female and fem-presenting aliens go on a space road trip to ruin the wedding of the human playboy who toyed with them, building bonds with each other in the process.

Adult post-apocalyptic sci-fi. Severely wounded in a violent raid, an amnesiac man is taken in by the household of the legendary Eternal One, a mysterious and warped survivor from the Before Times.

NA contemp queer romance. A notorious flirt poses as her best friend’s boyfriend on a family vacation to help her avoid the fallout of a nasty breakup, causing hijinks and a gender crisis.

Again, I can’t guarantee that any of these will be formerly released, but if you’re interested in being alerted if/when any of them are posted, let me know.

What are your headcanons for the girls? Gwen, Amy, and Donna. What's their sexualities? Crushes? Attitudes? Reactions to life post the basement? Anything else you can think of that you wanna share?

Gwen

I feel like she’s only like. Almost a year and a half younger than Finney so she’d be in the grade below him. She’d be one of Griffin’s best friends. She protects him (Amy does also) when it’s just them in 8th grade.

I headcanon her as a lesbian, because she seems like the type to be in a tiny bit of denial, even though she makes her girl dolls kiss. She has a crush on Amy but she isn’t really willing to admit that. (GUYS DONT WORRY. WLW GET A HAPPY ENDING IN THIS AU I PROMISE)

Gwen is really sassy and sarcastic and she’s just winning tbh she seems like the type that would just get up and leave the room if a teacher denied her asking to use the bathroom. Gwen is winning the IDGAF war yall!

When Finney escaped the basement, Gwen was REALLY worried about him and like refused to let him walk alone anywhere like she wants to go with him every time. If Robin can’t walk home with Finney on Fridays then Gwen will walk Finney home first. Gwen is like bffs with Griffin so she learns sign language for him pretty quickly and is always making sure he and Billy are okay at school.

Amy

Amy is around the same age as Gwen, so she’s a bit younger than Bruce. She likes being the instigating younger sister. She’s also best friends with Griffin, but she’s also really good friends with Billy. When Billy admitted to his crush on Griff, Amy was the one who basically told Billy how to impress Griffin and win him over.

Amy is Bi (With male preference) She had a crush on a guy for a bit, but when she got to high school she started having HEAVY feelings for Gwen like she is WHIPPED folks.

Amy is ALSO incredibly sassy like atp her and Gwen are like “they asked for no pickles” and with Billy and Griffin behind them like they’re Amy and Gwen are the two doing the talking. Amy also doesn’t care if she gets in trouble but she still has good grades and stuff. She’s competitive like Bruce but is less cocky. And if she has funny blackmail about the others, she gets them to buy her silence with barbie dolls and/or candy. (Vance and Bruce fall victim to this the most)

When Bruce escaped the basement, Amy was literally overjoyed and so emotional. She was literally so happy that she could see Bruce again. When she was visiting in the hospital it was literally just all tears. She didn’t have to feel like she was grieving a brother anymore. She has her brother. If Bruce has a baseball game, Amy makes sure he has someone with him on the way home. She helps him put concealer over his scar if he wants to cover it. She helps him feel more secure. Amy also got closer to Billy, because they also bonded over a lot of things. (Silly bi4bi bffs!!)

Donna

Donna is Billy’s twin i’m not taking feedback on this they would be fraternal twins. Donna got more of her mom’s traits while Billy got more of his dad’s traits. I feel like her best friend would be Robin (fuck all of the people that say they would hate each other) and she’ll hang out with him sometimes.

I feel like she’d be bi with no preference but she didn’t really know until high school; she was kinda confused when she started having a crush on a girl in her class. In my opinion I think she didn’t have that much of a thing for Finney. (but again thats just my opinion) She told only Billy for a while about her crush since she knew Billy was with Griffin.

Donna is probably way less sassy than the former two! She’s super nice and I will literally hunt down anyone who says she would be mean she wouldn’t have a single mean bone in her body. She’s always doing nice things for the others and she doesn’t judge any of them. I feel like she’d be honest but not in a blunt way, she just is nice about what she thinks.

When Billy escaped the basement and Donna reunited with him in the hospital, she didn’t even try to stop herself from crying. So much had happened since Billy went missing and she felt horrible that Billy had to deal with it also. Their parents had divorced while Billy was still missing, so Donna was upset seeing his reaction to that. It felt odd when Billy was back home for the first few days though; she felt like her brother was frozen in time and just came out with scars. It’s odd standing next to him now when he’s noticeably shorter from malnourishment. She feels like she has a little brother from how childish Billy acts now. But she loves him all the same.

my playlist

final thoughts:

this book was absolutely stellar! from beginning to end i was hooked, and i read most of it in one day. the protagonist is absolutely wonderful and so organically written, from her relationship with her own body and in terms of her reactions to things in general. it was a real treat watching her make mistakes and eventually blossom, and especially seeing how she was able to be unsure of herself and yet so certain about who she was and what her goals were.

i also really really loved the kid and wanted to experience more scenes centering on the kid in general! such presence on the page, both via ada’s descriptions and the authors use of strong character voice in dialogue. the author also did a superb job at never using any pronouns whatsoever for the kid, and for really brilliantly hinting at the kids relationship with gender in the historical setting. also the descriptions of fashion and the landscape were always so nice, the wall and the groups home and all of the kids outfits were so vivid in my mind!

speaking of which, the setting was great. obviously the story is very centered on women in the west, and the whole concept is at its core so loving to women of all races and all relationships to gender. the whole central group is so dynamic, all i can think to wish for is more! 100% would read a sequel, especially if it were based on the group post-book (trying to stay vague about the ending lol but i think there would be room for a sequel). i would just die for a sequel centering on the kid. literally would be foaming at the mouth lol, but this book came out relatively recently and nothing is announced obviously so i’m probably not gonna get my hopes up.

ugh i just really enjoyed the snippets we got to see of the kid being just an incredible leader? and i really really want more, and more about cassie and their life together and also just the whole group in general. and i want to know what happened to lo!!!! and!! does ada see her family again!! i’m going a little mental thinking about all the unresolved things that would be amazing in a sequel lmaooo

i really enjoyed lark and ada together, and thought their brief time as a couple was so sweet. the mutual understanding they quietly accumulated as things were revealed, and the bi4bi energy, just absolutely sublime! that his death was so sudden was heartbreaking, but also made sense because of the way death is treated throughout the book - always possible, usually sudden, and a natural risk. a presence in the room. just in general the theme of death was really refreshing and felt rooted in ada’s background in midwifing and medicine.

overall this book is definitely an easy recommendation and an easy favorite!!

Hi, I’m Polynya and I write Bleach fanfic. At this point, I have written kind of a lot, and I wanted to make a little intro page for new readers.

If you’re impatient and don’t want to read all this, here are the quick links: AO3 | FF.net. ao3 is my preferred platform. As of spring 2024, I am sick of FF.net’s crap and no long posting new fic there, but I’m leaving up the stuff that’s there.

Would I like your fanfic, Polynya?

99% of my fanfic is Renruki or Renruki adjacent. If you come in here looking for something different, you’re going to be disappointed, is what I’m saying.

I like big casts, and frequently recurring characters are Byakuya, the other lieutenants plus Ikkaku, Yumichika, and Akon, the Karakura kids whenever I can swing it, a smattering of other captains (particularly Hitsugaya, because I like his friendship with Byakuya), and various members of the Kuchiki family and Squads 6 and 13.

I like to write about relationships, whether they are friendships, romances, families or work relationships. I write a lot of romance, but people constantly tell me that they don’t like romance but they do like my writing, so make what you will of that. I’m old, and I write like an old person: my work has a lot of career feels, mistakes made and lessons learned, second chances, accepting people as they are and making yourself into person you want to be. Even though my main pairing is M/F, I write them as bi4bi and I regularly write a number of LGBT+ characters and pairings. I also write a number of characters as neurodiverse, most notably Byakuya, my autistic king.

Getting started with Polynya fic

If you aren’t sure if you’re gonna like my work or not, I suggest trying out The Letter of the Law [AO3] [FF.net] [Tumblr] It’s short, it’s funny, it’s sweet, by ratio, it’s probably my most popular fic. It’s about Ace Attorney Vice-Captain Abarai Renji getting Uryuu out of legal trouble at the end of the TYBW.

If you’re feeling a little braver than that, please consider Hold On, Hold On [AO3] [FF.net] , an Academy Days story about Kira and Hinamori trying to keep Renji from falling apart after Rukia’s adoption. I consider it my best fanfic and if I can ever get people to read one thing of mine, it’s this.

So, the thing I’m the most “famous” for is my series, The Heart is a Muscle [AO3 series]. The first couple of stories are interwoven with canon (the last few will be, too, if I ever finish it). The actual reason I started writing Bleach fanfiction was that I wanted an extremely long, slow burn RenRuki story that wove through the entire Bleach canon and I’ve never found one. So I made one myself. It is still in progress. It may be in progress forever. Each story gets subsequently longer and more ridiculous. I’m in the timeskip now and I may never stop. The name is dumb, but so are Renji and Rukia, so there. If you like audio, you can listen to part 1 as a podfic.

this could be permanent, you know [AO3][ff.net] is a modern/no powers AU where Renji is a tattoo artist and Rukia is a high-powered businesswoman with terrible (or possibly fantastic?) taste in tattoos. This is a weird one for me, because I rarely have much patience for stories that don’t take place in Soul Society, but I have always wanted to write a romcom. This is my romcom. As a bonus, it has many wonderful illustrations by my kind and talented friend @fluffnflightillustrations

Do you like angst? I have written one angst story, but it’s a doozy. Portions for Foxes [AO3] [AO3 - Fade to Black version] is an AU where Byakuya dies after his fight with As Nodt, and he leaves his family and his squad in the care of Rukia and Renji, respectively, who can barely stand to face each other. It is really sad, and there are explicit sex scenes, but my brand is incredibly strong, so it also has friendship and some funny bits, and the end is ultimately hopeful. This is honestly one of the better things I have written. The Fade-to-Black version has the explicit parts of the sex scenes removed, but it is still rated mature.

Speaking of the Blood War, since it’s Blood War time, my other favorite Blood War thing I’ve ever written is The Fear You Have Been Avoiding [AO3][ff.net], which is my personal take on what Rukia went through during the As Nodt fight. It’s short and full of blood!!

I got a request for a Hisana-Lived AU once, and it was pretty open-ended. I didn’t want to step on the toes of my other favorite Hisana-Lived AU (A Thin Red Line) so I gave myself the restraint that in my version, neither Rukia nor Byakuya ever bothered to mention Renji to Hisana, so she doesn’t even know he exists before becoming Byakuya’s lieutenant and helping to stop Rukia’s execution. I was reading a lot of Jane Austen at the time, so I wanted to write it with sort of the vibe of a Regency Romance, and that’s how I ended up with my other Big Story, a little in love now and then [AO3][ff.net]. Three out of five acts are done at the moment. I tried to finish it this summer and failed. I will try again next year. It also features a number of lovely illustrations by Fluff.

I get a lot of requests for kidfic. I don’t really like writing kidfic, but most of what’s out there is horrifically out of line with my experiences as a parent, so I write some from time to time. If that’s your bag, I’ve collected them as a series, The Greatest Family in Soul Society.

I don’t know what happened to me, because I didn’t used to be like this, but every so often I get the urge to write some smut. Unfortunately, I only write goofy, high concept smut. No one is more sorry about this than me. I have made a collection for them: What If We Kissed Under the Dick Rope? j/k... unless...? I use the pseud polynya_after_dark for these, so that link is another way to get to them directly.

I occasionally write shorter fiction or run request events here on Tumblr. I didn’t want to flood my ao3 with a bunch of short stories, so I have an anthology story that I throw them into for archival purposes. It got too big, so I made a second one, and my plan going forward is to make a new one for each calendar year. There’s all kinds of stuff in there, a lot of birthday stories, AUs, etc. There’s an index in Chapter 1 of each. There are a lot of these, but I particularly recommend the Squad 11 AU, where Byakuya is too distracted by his wife not-dying to adopt Rukia, and by the time he gets around to it, she’s joined Squad 11 with Renji, and the Dr. Renji AU, where Aizen transfers Renji to Squad 4 instead of Squad 11 and it turns out to be the best thing that ever happened to him. I talk about both of these from time to time and maybe someday I’ll spin them out into something bigger.

Speaking of AUs, I also have an AU that takes place in Soul Society, where Hisana took Rukia with her when she married Byakuya, and as a consequence, Renji never met Rukia and instead of becoming a shinigami he...became a tattoo artist instead. LOOK, I do NOT get paid, I can have as many tattoo artist AUs as I want. Anyway, there is a fanfiction part that’s not done yet, but I made a bunch of comics for it, you can find them all here.

Keeping up with my fanfic

I try to do a Tumblr post once a week (currently, on Tuesday) where I babble about what I’ve been working on and how it’s going. I do these for me, and they tend to be pretty personal. They’re always tagged with “writing update”

I tend to tag my writing with “my writing” and my art with “my fanart”. For some reason, when people ask me about my fanfics, I tag it with “my fanfic.” I should probably get a better system. Sometimes I’ll tag with the names of specific fanfics but I am super inconsistent about that.

I used to take requests, but it got overwhelming. I usually do one to three request events a year (usually, centered around some topic). If I’ve got one going on, it’ll be my pinned post and it will say so on my ask page. If you have a very specific request that is extremely in my wheelhouse, you can send it to me at any time. I can’t guarantee I’ll do it, or that I’ll finish it on any kind of timeline, but it doesn’t hurt to ask. (If it isn’t Renruki-centric, there is almost 0 probability I’ll do it, tho).

I do not take commissions and never will, don’t ask.
