installation reminiscent of the clothesline and domestic space using instax scans inkjet printed on silk habotai, safety pins, thread, 2022

heartstitch serves as a tender whirlwind of intimacy and absence, a bittersweet ode to a meteoric love affair, cosmic connection, meeting of mirrored souls. The series pulls from a collection of instax wide photographs I shot while living and working in Denmark during the summer months of 2022. The images are printed on distressed edge cuts of silk habotai, the lustrous fabric mimicking the soft delicacy of a lover’s skin, fragility of relationships, fleeting nature of infatuation, and the painful yet inevitable change that comes with the passage of time. Embroidered line work, white thread, and safety pins allude to abrasion and healing as the tattered texture of paper and blurred handwriting in the scanned journal entry parallel lacerated skin and expressions of longing and nostalgia. While heartstitch primarily seeks to cleanse and pay homage to a kind of psychic love wound, it also commemorates the emotional, bodily, and spiritual liberation and empowerment I experienced through traveling alone as a young woman with a history of domestic abuse and sexual violence.

Done in collab with wonderful @pforestsims – it's 2024, high time to rework how cameras work in TS2!

With this mod, sims can only take pictures if they have a camera in their inventory. To make this more feasible, the default camera is now buyable under Electronics / Small for §120. (If your sim happens to leave on a vacation without a camera, they can still ask kind locals and tourists to take pictures for them.)

In addition, there are six new functional custom cameras.

For most cameras, you'll need to order the photo with a computer to get a printed version, as is the default behavior.

Instant cameras: With Classic Polaroid and Instax cameras, the photo will be added to your sim's inventory right away. They require the instant photo mesh to work (included with the download). The photos taken with instant cameras can't be ordered with computers.

By default, the instant photo has a clear vignette overlay. You can add a tint to it by clicking the mesh and choosing either blue, green, red, or orange tint from the pie menu. It's also possible to revert it back to being clear.

There are two versions of this mod: the 'cellphone' one makes the cellphone work as a camera and is meant to be used together with my phone default. The cellphone will get picked for taking pictures only if the sim doesn't have another camera in their inventory.

The 'no cellphone' version has all the other functionality but the default cellphone won't work as a camera with it.

Files are compressed. Requires Bon Voyage and maybe University too. A collection file for the custom cameras is included; you can keep only those that you like, the mod works with or without them.

🚨🚨 Conflicts with the custom smartphone camera mod by @jellymeduza. Meduza has shared compatible versions in that same post.

This mod conflicts and isn't compatible with no bad photos mod by @picknmixsims.

There's also a conflict with the snowproof accessories mod by guirnaldas. Both mods will work if you make the camera overhaul load after the snowproof accessories.

This mod is compatible with camera default replacements that don't include an OBJD override, for example this one by @vegan-kaktus or this one by me works perfectly.

Update (24.4.2024): Visiting sims can now be asked to take a picture for you if they have a non-instant camera in their inventory.

Update (29.1.2024): Taking pictures with instant cameras now fulfills the want to take a picture just as the normal cameras do. Sims using instant cameras also correctly gain art enthusiasm from it.

Update (28.1.2024): Both the default and the custom cameras won't get covered in snow anymore if used outdoors when there's snow on the ground.

The mirrorless camera was converted from TS4 by @lordcrumps, thank you for sharing the textures! The telephoto camera was converted from TS4 for this project, thank you @deedee-sims for extracting! The DSLR camera was converted for this project as well, from ACNH.

One day, Price decides to go on a road trip with Gaz, Soap and Ghost.

Destination? A house he owns near the beach.

His boys are thrilled with the idea and start packing as soon as he tells them about it.

Price would be lying if he said he's not super excited too. He carries an instax camera with him so that when they return, he can decorate part of his office wall with memories of the trip.

...

Price drives, Gaz is his co-driver and Ghost and Soap are in the back seats. At first Ghost had offered to take turns driving with Price but they all preferred him to stay away from the wheel.

They talk, listen to the "road trip playlist" Gaz made for the occasion, look at the landscape through the window and hear Soap asking "are we there yet?" over and over.

At some point, Soap suddenly falls silent and when Gaz turns to see why, he finds his two friends sleeping soundly, Soap's head resting comfortably on Ghost's shoulder.

Of course he wouldn't miss an opportunity like that and asks Price for the camera. That's the first photo taken on the trip.

...

The second one is of a sand sculpture, a mini version of their base.

Soap and Ghost spend at least two hours on it.

Price is impressed by the precision and attention to detail they put into making it and so it doesnt take long for him to pull out his camera. Seconds after the picture is printed, a ball from a child who's playing near them falls on their work, completely destroying it.

Gaz can't help but laugh loudly, Soap seems like he's about to cry, and Price tries very hard to stop Ghost from committing child murder.

Photos number three, four and five come with a less chaotic story behind.

At night, when Ghost's having trouble to sleep, Price sits on the couch with him and plays a movie he thinks he'll enjoy. Once the movie is over, he stays up with Ghost until he gets back to sleep.

Precisely, Price takes the third photo one time he sees Ghost being completely absorbed in the story of a film he chose for him, head resting on both hands and eyes glued to the screen. Price thinks he looks like a cat looking at a fish tank.

The forth is actually a request from Soap.

One late afternoon he finds Price entertained with a book and asks him to read it outloud for him. Price gladly accepts and since then they start having "reading sessions" everyday.

Soap lies down with his head in Price's lap, listening carefully to his soothing voice. From time to time he feels one of Price's hands run through his hair in such a relaxing way that it makes him think he is going to fall asleep at any moment.

It means so much to Soap when they finish their first book together that he asks Price to take a picture of him posing with it. It had been a long time since he was able to finish a book because of how hard it is for him to concentrate on reading most of the time.

As for the fifth photo, it's taken by Ghost while he watches (and hears) Price teaching Gaz how to play the guitar. He admires Price's patience and Gaz's determination and commitment, who strives to learn despite struggling with the barre chords from time to time.

The camera captures Price's proud look over a very focused Gaz trying to play a new song he taught him a couple of minutes ago.

...

During their little vacations, they take many more photos. Price and Ghost after beating Gaz and Soap in a beach volleyball match, Price posing next to a "1# dad captain" mug the boys gave him half jokingly-half seriously, Soap and Gaz having a water fight in the sea, Ghost surrounded by seagulls after having fed one of them, Ghost and Soap's first kiss after having returned from a walk on the beach in which they both confessed their feelings for each other, etc.

...

Price's favorite photo is one of the last to be taken tho.

While on the beach, Gaz asks a man passing by to take a picture of them.

Quickly the four settle in front of the camera. Price in the middle, Ghost behind him and Gaz and Soap on his sides.

Just as the man is about to hit the camera button, the boys unexpectedly pounce on Price, engulfing him in a big loving hug.

They are laughing, their heads leaning against each other, their arms interlocked,

and he never felt more at home.

Someone on reddit asked about my journaling supplies so I thought I’d share here too! 

Traveler's Notebook is my only journaling system, I started using it in 2017 and have been loving it ever since!

The 4 fountain pens shown are my current inked pens that I'm cycling through, the Sailor Pro Gear Slim is my newest baby 🥺🤧

Having both the Kodak Mini 3 Retro and Mini 2 Retro is probably unnecessary but it’s nice having options of printing my photos in either 3x3" or 2x3". The 3x3" sometimes take up a lot of space on the page, and the 2x3" is perfect for that spot on the inside cover of a TN insert. The Kodak photo paper is also less bulky than Fuji Instax films!

The Kokuyo Dotliner is super handy for sticking photos and ephemera on pages without using liquid glue or a glue stick, and I think it gives my pages a cleaner look as opposed to taping them down

The rest of my supplies are watercolours, assorted washi tape, markers/mildliners, fineliners, stickers, etc

A PR Nightmare

Timothée Chalamet was a man madly in love, not with LRD or any of the other PR women he’d been pictured with, although his photo gallery was full of his girl. Y/n Y/l/n, dear God even her name sounded like a prayer. She was beautiful, the most beautiful human being he has ever met. And not just physically but inside too, she had a heart of gold and a soul as pure as freshly fallen snow. She would offer her help without even a second thought, like it was as normal as breathing to help others.

Yes she was the one for him, he thought as he lay beside her in bed early morning watching her eyes flutter open and smiled at her. ‘Good morning my love’ he leaned forward brushing her long hair away from her face and placed small kisses on her shoulder as she hummed and slid over to lay her head on his chest ‘Do you really have to go into work today? We could just stay in bed all day’

He sighed running his fingers up and down her back. ‘I want nothing more than that, but mark says he needs to see me and it’s urgent. So it’s unavoidable I’m afraid.’

She sighed nodding and kissed up his chest and neck slowly reaching his lips and held his face and pecked his lips.

‘Make it a quick meeting and I’ll be here waiting for you my love.’

He hummed returning the kisses and groaned when she moved away.

He got up with her and got dressed quickly wanting to get back quickly so he could spend the entire day with her as she walked into the shower room.

When Timmy returned she knew there was something off about him. She only had to take one look at him to know he had been crying and ran over to him and took his face in her hands ‘Timmy? Timothée look at me baby, what’s happened talk to me.’ He pushed her gently against the nearest wall burying his face against her neck mumbling ‘They’ve put me into a relationship with Kylie Jenner.’

She closed her eyes and held him tight. ‘It’s okay, we’ll figure something out, okay?’ She held him close as he nodded against her neck her T-shirt damp from his tears.

Three months later y/n was at home alone in LA while Timmy was asked to do some work in New York. She was scrolling through Twitter not really looking at anything when she got a notification from Instagram. There dressed in all white was Timmy on the Met Gala carpet smiling lazily, with Kylie Jenner at his side smirking away.

Y/n felt her heart stop, he never said anything about attending the Met Gala this year, y/n stumbled to the bathroom hearing her heartbeat in her ears and threw up.

When she was finished she walked upstairs and began packing her things in the bedroom she had been sharing with Timmy. She grabbed her phone and printed out the photo using her Instax mini printer and stuck it on a note she would leave for Timmy ‘Hope you had fun.’

She walked downstairs and left the note on the table in the hall and locked the door behind her.

She knew he didn’t have a say in the contract, but he lied to her about his business in New York, and she never thought he would do that to her.

She drove off into the night, her phone switched to silent in her bag.
