Your post about unfollowing people who’re really combative online made me think about someone in particular. Apologies if this is out of nowhere so feel free to ignore.
If somebody (with thousands of followers) who isn’t a part of a specific marginalised group habitually seeks out bad takes regarding them to dunk on, isn’t that a little weird? I’m not talking about defending your friends when they’re facing discrimination or dunking on the main bigot character of the day, but regularly seeking out bad takes from small accounts that’d otherwise never seen the light of day.
It’s nobody on here I’m referencing. I feel a little crazy because this person gets heralded as a huge ally and has a lot of people in this marginalised group who’re really devoted to and defensive of them but it just really rubs me the wrong way because they seem really discourse-brained more than anything else.
yeah haha ironically i think some of the ppl on that post are seriously missing the point (which i probably could have made clearer) in terms of some of them are like. people who clearly think being told they're racist is the same as the type of behavior i'm talking about.
but also yes! this is more what i meant- people who are seeking out fights with those who would otherwise never get any attention! especially when it's takes that are NOT popular or the response is just totally disproportionate. or just building a social media brand off of over-exaggerated hatred/meanness towards people who "deserve it". it reminds me of all the cis people on here who constantly reblog shit about like... putting terfs in meat grinders but then never even lift a finger (or, more likely, are part of the mob) when trans women are sexually harassed or viciously bullied.
i don't think joking about harming bigots is some grand moral wrong, but it's often just gratuitous in a way where... are you actually expressing outrage or are you using the performance of outrage to get followers? what if that outrage is directly putting people in danger (e.g, if you find a terf with 45 followers + start sending her death threats, is that helping anyone or is it potentially provoking more violence, which you know full well you will NOT be the primary target of). i can see how this behavior can result in members of certain groups defending you, because if nobody has shown their willingness to defend you, isn't it refreshing to see someone who will? it's not so simple, either, cuz i do think ppl who do this do CARE, but i'm not sure the way that they care is sustainable or would hold up to a real, complex situation where allyship is needed.
it's so contextual + i'm not arrogant enough to pretend like i'm the one who can see the context right 100% of the time. this is a little sappy but i feel like the difference is whether the root of the anger is love/hope or if its fulfilling your own desire to lash out/release tension/look good. like "i'm pissed because i care about my trans siblings + it hurts me to see them treated this way + nobody else is saying shit for them so i'm stepping up" vs "raging online meets a need in me that i'm not willing to acknowledge + here's the perfect target". not exactly that simple but sometimes u can tell someone would be a kiwifarms bro if they didn't need social capital from a different crowd, ykwim (which btw we regularly learn that certain leftists will comb through + disseminate kiwifarms shit if it fits their vibe, which is an automatic red flag to me that you only care about drama, not morals)
it reminds me of how some "callouts" are clearly written with the intention of preventing harmful people from maintaining the power to do more harm (e.g x popular artist sexts underage fans) while many others are clearly written with glee about someone turning out to be Bad (e.g x popular artist has a private twitter that i, op, SCROUNGED to find, where they say horny things about genshin impact characters)

this topic is always… something. ppl write for their pleasure and tumblr isn’t anything but an app to display that. with writers not getting much from being here, I don’t see why ppl let this stuff mess with them sm. it’s great to have support yes, but at the end of the day ppl will reblog what they want. It’s a lost for the readers when an author leaves, but it’s also a lost for the author in a sense. Community labels and the dumb hate Black writers get especially is obvious and I understand why ppl can’t stand to be on here. There’s nothing wrong with wanting interactions, but I just don’t think it’s wise to worry abt numbers in a field where you create, it just gives you a greater headache
again, y’all are proving my point. taking the simplest, most harmless statement and observation from us and turning it into discourse. Respectfully, once again, my page is not a discussion board and I only expressed how I (and probably a lot of other writers) on here feel. Y’all act as if we’re sliding down a wall and slitting our wrists because we said that we notice how our work gets treated in comparison to our (non-blk) counterparts. We have every right to acknowledge that there is an obvious problem on here with people being racist through anon, not amplifying our stuff, etc. and still enjoy creating all the same. It’s not even that deep. But the lengths y’all go to just to gaslight us is crazy lmao. It’s really giving ‘be quiet and just deal with it.’ Which I don’t think you’d tell any other group but not surprised in the slightest. Why should we be okay with disrespect and drama being put on a pedestal but our pieces we’ve spent all this time working on not? When it takes .2 seconds to reblog and it helps us out? Or leave a comment so that we can improve our stuff so that as a reader, you have a better experience??Never said that I was done writing, I’m simply saying I don’t feel as comfortable as I did posting. Y’all truly lack reading comprehension and it shows. As a creator in many different areas, engagement and interactions are the most rewarding parts of what we do. I don’t think it’s too much to ask that we get at least that out of it.

Another day another how many thousands of Online people diagnosing themselves with autism because they’re socially awkward and have a few traits or interests they consider sooooo weird. I keep seeing 50k+ note posts specifically about having autism and autistic experiences and 🤨🤨🤨 it’s literally impossible that everyone engaging with this post is autistic. You’re not. You’re a normal 20 something with social anxiety (which is extremely common among your peers to the point of being the norm), the “freak” traits and interests you use to diagnose yourself aren’t even weird, you just want to be quirky. Nearly none of you are the insane, mentally ill (whether it’s autism or whatever else you use to feel special) freaks you claim to be for reblogging “unhinged” (again 100000% normal and predictable, which is why they’re so popular despite ppl acting like it’s some niche group) tumblr posts from people who also desperately want to be seen as quirky. When autistic people describe our experiences beyond hyperfixations and enjoying alone time you certainly don’t relate.
And your “all for mental health!” facade crumbles as soon as anybody has a severe or “scary” MI or symptoms that make you uncomfortable (and that’s pretty easy to do - people think intrusive thoughts are a sign of wickedness). Whoever is saying the stigma around mental illness is getting better has no idea what they’re talking about. The fact that your job offers “mental health days” off doesn’t mean schizophrenic people don’t get arrested (or worse) for displaying symptoms, it doesn’t mean that anybody with any personality disorder isn’t terrified of people knowing that because they WILL (especially people in the mental health and medical fields) automatically assume you are evil. Involuntary commitments happen all the time, for extended periods. Once you have the label “crazy” stamped on your records you can be stripped of many of your rights, with no recourse, because obviously nothing you say or think can be trusted. Who will stand up for the lunatic? Any anger at your treatment just shows how deeply out of touch you are. Who will prevent them from getting lost in the psychiatric and penal system, because isn’t that where they’re better off, for everyone’s sake? There has been zero progress on these fronts, you know, for the people who need it most. But that all pales in comparison to the rush of peer validation online, doesn’t it?
Idk if the romanticization of mentall illness will ever end - the desire to be unique and different while also being palatable, relatable, and appealing to peers is just too strong. It’s unattainable btw, oxymoronic even.

I will try to remember now the lines that make me go “SAMANTHA!!”! Bahah and that’s so sweet that you and your best friend share a birthday month!! Very iconic of both of you lol in my close friend group I’m the only one with the a winter birthday, the rest are literally in spring/summer lol
BAHAH ME TOO I LITERALLY DO JUDGE THE BOOK (only for books ) BY ITS COVER BEFORE I BUY IT BAHAHAH honestly I try to always read the back’s summary or whatever but if I can’t get pass the cover I simply will not read lol I guess that a toxic trait of mine bahahah
I’m a short person so technically everyone around me is like taller than me bahah but I will obviously romanticize this height difference lol IM SO DOWN BAD IF GIVEN A CHANCE I WOULD😭 oh besties i just know you’ll write such a great prof/TA fic!
I REMEMBER THE LINES FOR THE MIDNIGHT SHOWINGS!! Omg those were crazy times bc I vividly remember coming out from the theaters and seeing ppl line up for one of the twilight movies! At the time of course my kid brain was just confused BUT looking back at it, it was kinda iconic lol like you don’t get that kinda craze and obsession anymore like it seems fun! Like community and seeing something so anticipated come to life?! Fun lol. The closest thing I guess for me was dressing up and seeing the Barbie Movie which was kinda fun lol
If it isn’t broke don’t fix it! Or whatever tf the saying is! Like I don’t think they are the same stories but who can get tired of a classic friends to lovers moment? Or an enemies to lovers? Or a happy marriage story ending! Like they are good for a reason!
My Kyle is honestly so adorable! He’s so sweet and kind which I was simply so surprised by lol
Oh no Sam I’m so sorry you’ve been feeling depressed lately :( having any form of depression is honestly a battle/journey. And having the season/climate be sucky or just not it doesn’t help either. You’re not being dramatic in any sense! You are allowed to FEEL things without feeling like that are “too much”. Since we are so similar lol you’re probably the least dramatic person! Feelings are normal and sometimes all we need to do is FEEL! Let there be no need to solve or find a way to quickly get rid of the sadness. It’s okay to just feel it out and see how you process it! And bestie you know I read everything you post! And it’s always lovely to see how you express EVERY emotion within you. You’ve said that your writting is very personal and a lot of you goes into it and I love to see who YOU are as a writer/person in your stories! And I’m glad that you have writting as an outlet for those feelings! Anyways I can only hope that you’ll be able to get through this, sending so much love! Know that I CARE AND LOVE YOU so will be concerned but know that it comes from a place a love and not because I “have to”! Wishing you the best and I hope your week starts out good!-💜
We love our birth month 😂 just makes your bday more special not having to share it with your friends time of year!
The last time our country was unified was when we were arguing over Edward/Jacob. How iconic.
I already adore Kyle, keep me posted!
You’re so sweet to me. Thank you for being so understanding. Whatever you decide to do with your degree I think you’ll be the most amazing at it because of how understanding you are 💕 I hope you enjoy my sad update today lol can’t wait to hear your thoughts when you have time 😂 hope you’re recovering from all your exams too!
Xoxo

Why Pluralphobia Is Distinct From Other Forms Of Prejudice
This is mostly a response to this post, but is also part of a broader conversation. Choice quotes:
they hate us because we’re mentally ill. they’re afraid of us because we’re mentally ill...
“pluralphobia” isn’t the right word to use here because it’s not the plurality they’re afraid of. they’re afraid of what it implies — the mental illness, the idea that they might be in a situation they don’t understand with someone who could be dangerous to them.
ableism is the problem that plagues all of us. it rots societies from the inside out. whether you believe yourself to be a disordered system or not, you’re experiencing ableism when you’re being discriminated against for looking like DID
I want to say that I actually agree with a lot of this. A significant portion of pluralphobia IS based in ableism. But that only provides a fraction of the picture. There isn't an autism cringe subreddit or a schizophrenia cringe subreddit, and we would face significantly less stigma from being out as plural than we do from being autistic, or than we would if we were schizophrenic.
DID cringe, and later systems cringe, were specifically a response to this one type of disorder and community. Even /r/FDC is primarily focused on systems at this point. And there's a reason for that.
Dissociative Identity Disorder isn't just stigmatized for the disorder part. It's also stigmatized for the identity part. The same attacks that are directed at transgender people are just as often directed at systems. Half the posts on the cringe subreddits spend as much time targeting systems for using neo-pronouns as they do for things associated with the actual illnesses. The same mentality that makes transphobes want to deny people's chosen gender and deadname them is the mentality that results in them not wanting to acknowledge alters and headmates by their own names or acknowledge their individual genders.
DID and plurality as a whole exist in an intersection where ableism and transphobia meet. It does this while introducing another element of identity to the public consciousness, plurality itself, that many singlets are not prepared to deal with.
Pluralphobia is made up of three fundamental parts. Part one is ableism, the idea that we're "crazy" and dangerous. Part two is an extension of transphobia and identity, relating to people identifying as a different gender than their biological sex, or going by different names. Part three is the threat of the plurality, the idea of multiple individuals within a single body and the threat to a singlet-normative society and the traditional conceptions of how the human brain works. This third reason is why you even have many psychologists who are convinced that DID isn't even a real disorder.
All three of these aspects are inextricably linked together, and is going to result in systems facing more discrimination than those with almost any other disorder.
the entire endo community is based on the idea that if endos can distance themselves far enough from being “disordered,” (and from dissociative systems as a whole) then maybe they can be accepted by society.
if this distancing behavior sounds familiar, it should. it’s the same mindset as the LGBT “activists” who are working to sanitize queer history by removing any mention of things that are complicated or potentially upsetting. it’s the same attitude that calls neogenders “cringe” and tells GNC trans ppl that their presentation somehow hurts others.
This, I don't agree with. Certainly, there are groups who have done that here and there, but I don't see this being particular prominent in modern inclusive spaces.
I think it would be more accurate to say that one of the goals of the endogenic community is to show that plurality itself isn't a disorder, and ultimately result in plurality as a whole being accepted by society. You can have a disorder that affects how your plurality functions like DID and OSDD, but that disorder isn't the plurality itself.
I've seen a lot of DID systems, especially in anti-endo communities, be quick to point out that DID isn't just an "alters" disorder. But those same systems fall into the trap of viewing the alters as the defining characteristic of the disorder rather than the instinctive switching or difficult internal communication or the dissociative amnesia or any myriad of other issues associated with it.
This shift of focus isn't just for the benefit of the endogenic community. Normalizing plurality as a natural function of the human brain rather than presenting it as the brain being "broken" or "split" by trauma, as I've seen many systems repeat, is just as important to the mental health of alters who might view themselves as being a problem rather than having one. It also reinforces that healthy multiplicity is a valid healing option, and that you don't have to try to be what society views as "normal" to be healthy, whereas many singlets would push final fusion as the only valid healing option.
Furthermore I can't speak for every endogenic and non-disordered system. I can only say that the reason we don't identify as DID or OSDD is because our plurality has never resulted in any sort of distress or impairment that would warrant a diagnosis of a disorder. Choosing not to identify with a disorder we don't have isn't some sort of internalized ableism, nor is it a slight against systems who do experience those disorders.
If distancing was the primary goal, I think you would see a greater push by endogenic systems to push DID/OSDD systems out of plural communities, and would be pushing to stop using the word "system" to describe ourselves. Instead, this type of distancing behavior is far more often associated with anti-endo communities.
I've always believed that the plural community is strongest together.

there's a limit on how much you can be an isekai intellectual...
a bunch of analyses have been popping up before me all day so i wanted to throw my hat into the ring. all love to ppl who are exercising their creative minds + ppl like geoff here who just talk about these things because of fan interest but i feel like there reaches a point where exploring the "types" of isekai is pointless? i've seen ppl list out the different types of villainess revenge isekai or fantasy mmorpg isekai but eh why fit them all into separate boxes like that?
i think it's easier to think of isekai as a "type" (genre) of itself with only two categories: 1) a focus on isekai (lit. another world) 2) tensei (lit. to be reborn). this allows for a variety of applications and thus tropes that ppl see so many trends of!
with isekai - in another world
you see everything from:
pure fantasy (inuyasha, digimon wait maybe not the best example but in my childhood mind i count digimon as pure fantasy, fushigi yugi)
mmorpg inspired fantasy/adventure (.hack//legend of twilight, sao ugh, log horizon, overlord (LOVE OVERLORD!)
otome game-esque worlds >>> this is where it gets complicated with "villainess routes" since i admit there are multiple villainess tropes but this is why it's nice to not think of this as a "sub-type/genre" bc it frees you from those complications! (the saint's magic power is omnipotent, the white cat's revenge as plotted from the dragon king's lap soso cute!, the savior's book cafe in another world, i'm a villainous daughter so i'm going to keep the last boss wait i can't remember if she's reborn in this one lmaooo see this is why rules make everything hard)
with tensei storylines - being reincarnated/reborn in another world as *insert character/role*
you see...
the same tropes!!
pure fantasy (a returner's magic should be special, reminiscence adonis, the lady and the beast, light and shadow, i can't think of a manga off the top of my head for this ah)
mmorpg inspired fantasy/adventure (so i'm a spider so what i stan kumoko so hard, her majesty's swarm, can't name another off the top of my head ah i hate lists shorter than two things...)
self-insert based games/novels (fiance's observation log of a self-proclaimed villainess, who made me a princess, death is the only ending for the villainess, the villainess wants to marry a commoner, honestly games vs novels are different applications but i'm not in the headspace to try to remember a bunch of both lol)
*insert line break to give random ppl a break from scrolling but tl; dr just enjoy things for what they are no need to micro analyze*
similar variations occur in both genres (if ppl want to be super technical i guess i'm arguing that isekai itself is a massive genre that has the "another world" subgenre and "reincarnation" subgenre tl; dr) so i think it's honestly a huge pain to try to separate all these trends into so many different types of stories. for me personally it's easier to not get overwhelmed by this gigantic umbrella of "isekai" that spans light novels, manhwa, manga, and mobile games by just stripping each story down into its trademark tropes (aka character archetypes, story structures) and slapping "oh this is a person going to a world that's not ours" and "this person gets reborn as blank in another world". none of this "omg this power fantasy is such a this kind of isekai moment" or "there are 14 different types of villainess revenge stories and this series fits into this" bc AH labels! limitations! circle-jerks via ppl trying to compartmentalize everything and sound smart for leaving a comment on story analysis instead of ooh-ahhing over a character's face! dividing things into light novel manga vs manga vs korean manhwa ft. female characters!
the last bit is mainly why i feel frustrated by ppl's insistence to group everything?
the video linked at the beginning of the post (honestly good video essay, i enjoyed it, i just kept thinking in my head the whole time "marimo these are tropes do not take the genre talk literally") has a baby comment thread talking about "korean isekai manhwas" as a genre featuring nothing but reincarnated villainess' and i can't.
like i cannot acknowledge that as a genre of any sort. the energy i felt reading through some of those insights takes me back to 2012 when all yt americans discovered k-pop and deemed all korean music k-pop from then on! (ppl still do this now, yes you are seen and don't talk to me pls i don't like you. k-pop is korean pop music and nothing less and nothing more. take a few seconds and try to parse apart aspects of korean culture instead of slamming everything into a monolithic label that has the letter k and a hyphen.) it feels so odd to see a bunch of young ppl on ig and tiktok acknowledge korean media that happens to be in the form of a webtoon as "oh stories all about young girls becoming villains in stories they made/played" bc it feels so reductive u.u
(positionality disclaimer that i'm praying isn't actually necessary: i am a 3rd-generation korean of japanese descent do not fite me i am exhausted irl of ppl asking for validation/verification bc massive shove off.)
breaking news! korean manhwa...is just as multifaceted as japanese manga...bc how can comics as an art-form not have multiple genres...huh such a shocker?!?! same likely applies to media in other parts of the world like chinese manhwa and french comics--not my place to explain either of those i just know those industries exist bc of wakfu and donghua shows by Tencent.
at the end of the day it's not like analyzing any kind of isekai is wrong--absolutely not!! i think it can be super fun to think about how isekai elements complicate a story (MCs trying to go back home, ppl from the og world, reincarnation plot-twists) or maybe even bash a series for including some kind of other world element when they could have just written a super fun fantasy.
insert marimo's brief ramble that hey you can get sick of truck-kun's hitting disillusioned guys who happen to be super duper smart or girls who happen to be master chefs/craftsmen but transporting a fully-grown being into a fantasy setting is the ultimate cheat code for making mundane modern technology seem cool and overpowered, and being reincarnated as a fully grown person in a world with a pre-made story/game set-up completely bypasses the need for an author to slowly flesh out world-building in a natural progression so isekai is actually a really smart writing tool it's just that there are some series where the author didn't use it well at all and it's cheesy or clearly isekai was misused as a vehicle for character/story development and it was pointless *DEEP BREATH OUT*
in this essay i will argue...lol i am such a culture studies major!! if i were an english major i would be talking all about writing but here i am having a side-tangent about world-building via someone being reborn wow i love this for me (don't get me started on when an author has someone reincarnate as a baby and the story is mostly them having warm fluffy moments with their family--typically father figures--and getting lots of powers i could and would and probably will rant about east asian toxicity)
but anyway am i crazy????? like yes for being passionate about the technical use of a word like genre (i am a scorpio rising let me be fussy pls) but i don't think it's a lot to ask for ppl to not unironically see "villainess revenge isekai" as the definition of korean manhwa.
idk as someone who resonates with why japanese isekai is so popular domestically + why a lot of korean manhwa feat. the same tropes (it's not for great reasons lads it's actually depressing tbh) i'm just starting to feel kind of pained by the generalization and need to separate "cute japanese girl in an otome game"/"japanese boy finds a harem in another world" from "korean girl dies and comes back as a villainess" bc they are just! applications to the same story device!!
recommendations for any who makes it this far down below <3
// also gladly recommend any of the examples i've listed in the above rant as i've read/watched all of them and adore them v much! //
save me princess
super refreshing fantasy manhwa ft. a princess and her ex-boyfriend having to save the world!
the beginning after the end
an AMERICAN web novel turned into a comic (but see it being not korean/japanese doesn't really matter when you just consider isekai as a genre...isn't it nice to not overthink it?) ft. a super-powerful wizard king reincarnated into another world and starting from scratch--gives mushoku tensei vibes but huge twists!
the reason why raeliana ended up at the duke's mansion
love love LOVE this story--read the title and you'll learn how this girl reincarnated as the character raeliana in a book gets married to a duke!
trash of the count's family
such a good novel!! a guy gets reborn as a lazy oaf and he takes the hero of the story under his wing...plot twists come up later on!
this time i will definitely be happy!
v good and refreshing for a shorter series! she's been reborn 3 times and remembers every time the hero's stabbed her in the back, and now she just wants to break up with him!
silver diamond
older manga but v good adventure w intrigue! a boy who loves plants get sucked into a desert world with demonic lizards and a mysterious bodyguard by his side. shonen-ai not BL but wonderful vibes nonetheless + great side characters!
the princess imprints a traitor
adore everything in this from the world (not in that way this society makes me so angry) to the machinations at play and the dynamic between the fl and ml

i don’t normally write stuff like this for this blog but i feel the need to put it here, seeing immediately how ppl are reacting. so here are some yashahime thoughts, spoilers under the cut for ep 15.
you’re not a bad person if you kept watching because you wanted to know. most of us wanted to know. if you’re hurt by what you watched you don’t have to keep watching. don’t let it keep hurting you. if holding on to the characters as they were makes you feel better, do that. if cutting them out of your life is going to make you feel better, do that. if you need to vent and rage post, do that. but you’re allowed to be upset. you’re allowed to be disgusted because it IS disgusting.
sunrise baited and foreshadowed this relationship with images and flashbacks of a child. a CHILD. they didn’t have the decency to at least make her look older and even if they did, it doesn’t change the fact that this relationship is wrong and inappropriate in every respect. it doesn’t matter if they did it to appease shippers or if they actually sat down and “thought” this through. it’s wrong. and don’t let any crazy shipper tell you differently. don’t let them get into your head. the fact that they’d celebrate a romance between an adult and a child/teen tells you enough about them that you need to know.
for me it hurts like hell. i got into IY when i was about 12. i’m 29 years old. this show has been a part of my life for so long and sesshomaru in particular means a lot to me. rin too. these characters and world they inhabit have gotten me through particularly dark times in my life. i know it’s the same for a lot of fans but i’m sure the ones in my age group can particularly relate just by being in it for so long lol. and elaborating on the characters’/series’ importance to me is something i just don’t wanna get into right now with how i’m feeling, but...it really hurts. it really, really hurts. to the point where it brings tears to my eyes. i never once looked at sesshomaru and rin and thought that their dynamic was anything but familial/platonic. such a thing just wasn’t present at all. did i read it wrong? i don’t think i did, and i know a lot of ppl read it the same way.
for me it’s not so easy to just let these characters go, but it’s definitely something i have to think about. this isn’t something i can just meme my way through, as helpful as that has been for me. i don’t know what i’ll do with this blog; it’s not really anything particularly interesting but it meant something to be a part of the IY fandom, even if it was to mostly just reblog content. i don’t talk a lot with ppl on here but the positive interactions i’ve had have meant a lot to me. seeing all the great art, memes, opinions, and ideas has been such a joy.
what they’ve done over at sunrise is terrible. and if you’re feeling like i am, don’t let anyone tell you to just get over it. don’t let anyone tell you “it’s just a show lol” if these characters have helped you and impacted your life and creativity in any way. like i said-- you’re allowed to be disgusted. you’re allowed to be hurt. and you’re allowed to speak up at the implications of what something like this can make others think, feel, or act on. please be well and take care of yourselves.

RIGHT SO LETS DISCUSS
bts release two !!!!TWO!!!! english songs NOT AN ENGLISH ALBUM but english songs yh and suddenly everyone thinks they can't go back to how they "used to be."
pls ppl they've not really changed its two bloody songs. yes theyre in english but english is quite a wide spread language, even if it's not everyones first language. Dare i say it's more or less a universal language, most people understand it to a certain point individual to them. You know where im going with this right? ALSO Joon stated his reasons before for his change in mind about now making TWO english songs, go check them out again for me yh?
Not to mention they STILL MAKE SONGS IN KOREAN. After dynamite, they made a whole album in what? you guessed it korean ffs. (thank you that one anon who reminded me to include that to remind people)
And people who wanna say they're not kpop anymore, tell me you don't know the definition of kpop without telling me you don't know the definition of kpop. Allow me to inform you Kpop is short for korean pop and pop is short for popular. So add that all together and it's short for Korean popular music. Same way pop in america is short for popular music. Still sounds like bts to me 🤷‍♀️
Also some of you lot show you really don't listen or maybe you don't trust them when Namjoon gave his reasons behind the english songs. And some of you (not all okay) kinda come across like you're dictating what language they can and can't sing in. That sounds a little you know like the same thing you claim not to be because you're not outright doing things those types of people do.
If you don't like them fair enough not everything is going to be to everyone's taste. But some of you lot are really acting like they always gonna make english songs now. Like they're gonna stop talking about deep things in their songs, stop sharing their stories through their songs.
Would you think the same if they released a hoe anthem? if they just dropped a few sexy songs thats just full of 🍆🍑💦👉👌. Would you think they've lost who they used to be, that they're loosing touch with who they are, begging for a certain market to pay attention to them.
Do you think the same about other groups that release songs in all english?
And no in my opinion they don't care that bad about america, I mean who does these days fuck america and their shitty music market/awards honestly biggest waste of space.
They're not desperate. Ambitious yes but thats completely different. Sure they had hopes that maybe they could achieve certain awards and certain recognition its called having aspirations and dreams. But after seeing how everything went down the first time and the amount of racism (not naming no names you shitty stuck up piece of shit award shows, fucking equivalent to tories) I personally doubt they're going to subject themselves to that again.
If it happens it happens if they get these american awards good for them but i don't think they're trying their absolutely damned desperate hardest to make it happen. And if they don't get the awards, sound it makes no difference to who they are they're still bts, sure ill be sad for them because it's something they hoped for got teased with only to get told essentially "ahaha fuck offffff. You're having a laugh aren't you, thinking us who favour white artists would give you an asian group any awards. We just used you for views." which is despicable.
Maybe I'm naive and all of what I've just said is absolute bullshit compared to what's possibly happening behind to scenes. But I personally don't think bts are like that, they're very honest about their music that much I can confidently say. Maybe I also don't think the writing credits tell a story of bts wanting to gain more attention and praise from america. Like yeah maybe they have quite a few americans (or just non korean) (? correct me if im wrong I haven't checked the writing credits properly) on writing credits but maybe they're just branching out to write with more/other people and condering english isn't bts first language maybe the writers helped to support with the english.
I respect other people having differ opinions even if some of you just sound daft. Again not all but some. Just enjoy the comeback and stop sounding like a crazy conspiracy theory youtube channel with your broken records on repeat.

Fascinating concepts in Golden Kamuy Manga ( part 2)
In part 1, I listed 3 concepts that I find intriguing in Golden Kamuy ( GK), I provided short explanation of these concepts but due to issues of space couldn’t provide more examples. The previous 3 concepts were: (1). Broken men of war & death, (2) Fun dynamics & journey companion  does not equal close friendships, & (3) Perspective is where characters are truly at. In total I have 9 concepts but intend to post 3 at a time. So, here we go~
4. What breaks men of war: ( emotional ties)
in my previous post, I’ve mentioned that these men of war are not fazed by death & some are even obsessed with it. goldenkamuyhunting has kindly added that they are affected by the death of those whom they’re emotionally connected to, and provided examples. very true. However, I want to look at this concept from another perspective. As much as the constant brush with death has hardened their hearts & stole chunks of their humanity, all the characters are still human. Their humanity isn’t mostly displayed in how they treat strangers/ enemies, or men on the other side, it is presented on how easily they crumble down once you press the right button: their loved ones. They have strong emotional ties that can break them down, even now after they’ve become so drenched in blood. These ties are mostly connected to ppl who are the reason of their current perspective or their past selves. Sugimoto, the ruthless, breaks down in tears at the memory of toraji, at the idea of failing Yumi, at the thought seeing Asripa become like him: a killer. These emotional ties break him into tears & self loathing frenzy. Sadistic Nikaidou not only mourn his brother, but becomes a shell of a man, delusional, erratic, addicted to drugs & hollow. Tsukishima, Tsurumi’s right hand who kills with no hesitation, becomes all sorts of mess at the thought of Igogusa: anger, tears, loss, despair, explosive rage, self-loath coupled with low self-esteem. Tsurumi himself, the man who fondly remember running thro rain of blood, was so affected by the murder of his wife & daughter to the point of not being able to restrain himself. (many examples) but the point is, I applaud the writer for not going the path of writing these characters as emotionless hard cold blooded war veterans. They have emotions & can break into sobs. You might think they’re unable to form new emotional ties, but some can, sugimoto formed healthy independent ties with shirashi! But the issue is not the new ties. The real issue is these men of war not yet dealing with the old emotional ties from their past. Those ties are eating them from the inside. The pain is still raw!
5. Excellent portrayal of unstable psyche:
Some of these men, due to the past emotional ties, have developed unstable thinking & deep troubling thought process & reasoning coupled with the ugly brutality of war. Other writers will simply write men such as Tsurumi or Ogata as mad guys, crazy & lunatic. But Noda chose a deeper more logical & intriguing approach. Their behavior shows elements of unstable & deeply trouble thinking; little boy Ogata poisoning his mother & Tsurumi’s infatuation of being a soul snatching shinigami. What they have done is unexcused & cannot be corrected. However, they are not mindless lunatics. Both characters are mysterious & rarely allowed to have inner monologue abt their true goal. Both play on different sides & have gone through some personal journey to solidify their nihilistic belief. Both goes even deeper into the depth of seemingly unstable thought process. Ogata, lacking family love, questions the concept of pity, mercy & compassion. Embarks on a journey to prove that he’s not alone in feeling no guilt over human death. That his tragic thinking is not up-normal. Other ppl exist like me. ppl other than weird Usami. Nothing is wrong with me, so father should accept me. So tragic. Yet Ogata even with this unstable thinking is portrayed as smart with analytic thinking, skilled, seemingly not swayed by manipulators & very perceptive! Same goes for Tsurumi, extremely manipulated, cunning, intelligent & sweet talker, but was shown as a loving father as he held his daughter in his hand in most of his Japanese language teaching scenes with wilk in Russia. His family’s death deeply troubled him & changed him into the monster he’s currently is. Obsessed with their bones. Not mourning them yet. His position as the story’s villain adds to this but in a very balanced way. There are more examples, such as Usami & a number of the tattooed convicts. But the point is the writer treats the characters as human, who are capable of unstable obsession & thinking, yet can display normal behavior & excellent logical thinking as well.
( btw: I’m not putting any character with the same scale as the other, or saying they’re equal or identical. They are NOT.  I’m simply looking at a ting aspect from their behavior in light of the concept they share)
6. No heroes:
I duno abt you. But I don’t sense that this is a story of a bunch of alliances saving the day against the big baddie. I could be wrong tho. But this story has sth that is lacking from most stories, which is: each side have winning points as much as loosing points. Meaning each side has arguments that can lead to their logical success as much as arguments that sheds some light on the holes in their plans. Even the argument that says minority groups should have their own land with their own culture, while very just in concept, the application is quite complicated. A group of ppl with no strong army sitting on a land of rich resources won’t be left alone by other nations. It never happened in the real world, & while GK is fiction, it is safe to say that Noda is aware of this as he made Tsurimi himself point this out in ch,271. Even if the minority groups get their land, they can’t preserve their own culture if they continue their old ways without adapting into new generations & without reaching out to the outside world. Once again Trsumi pointed this out while talking abt japan itself. I duno how Noda plans to solve this. But This is not even exclusive to the Auni/Japan/Russia situation. Again, the story itself is way bigger than that. Each character is not even the hero of their own story. Asirpa’s trauma of finding herself shouldering the burden of an entire culture while struggling to have a normal selfish goal like any normal girl. Sugimoto becoming her body guard while she solves an issue that he himself isn’t that much interested in! he just wanted her to be happy. More importantly he wants her to NOT be like him. Living thro Asripa while he should be trying to figure out his own path, rather than looking for salvation thro the innocent angelic Asipra or becoming a human skinning tool to get the money for Ume’s eyes treatment when she herself never asked him to! Tsukushima, desperately trying to believe that there’s at least some bigger picture good for following Trsurmi, that all the years of blood stinky hands can mean sth, somehow, in the future, so may examples. But I love the concept of grey characters so dearly, no heroes, no angels.
Disclaimer:
I know my explanation for each argument & each concept & the examples I provide can be misunderstood. But I assure you that each time I provide an example, I’m looking at a tiny aspect of a deeply complex & intriguing character that cannot be summarized into one or two concepts & is bigger than to be compared to other characters as well. Each concept is shared by a number of characters but with different approach, level & reasoning behind it. If I want to discuss a certain character in depth, I’ll do that in a post dedicated for them  alone.
Lastly, This is just a fraction of my personal opinion abt the story & characters. I’m not claiming this is how they are truly written or this how Noda intended it or even that you should share my thoughts. I just think this manga is so darn good & rich with fascinating characters!

Girlie I gotta say if you're going to bitch at Nathan Chen for being homophobic (as he deserves) you can't just ignore that Shoma hates women...
Why did I see this coming? 🙄
I don't feel like I "bitch" about Nathan, but ok. I adressed an issue where he said a homophobic and mysogynistic answer in an interview.
I have answered the "Shoma thing" couple of times already. You can look that up if you want to. So I didn't ignore anything at all. And so I am not allowed to have an opinion because I still support Shoma? I have explained my reasoning before. And also why exactly should I bring Shoma up when Nathan is in question?
But still let's unpack your accusation a bit:
First of all there is still no official confirmation that it was Shoma after all. It was a voice, not a video, in a quite "skating anonymous" YT gaming channel that isn't officially tied to Shoma's name at all. So even if I agree that it likely was Shoma's voice in this, it's still totally different from an official interview with your name attached to it like what Nathan did.
2nd - this is not the whole picture of what Shoma actually said, it was "I hate girls my age because I see them too hard to impress boys" (at least this is one translation of similar other translations). There is a 2nd sentence to the "I hate girls" that ppl like to forget, because that frames a specific group of girls and not women in general (I dunno why ppl forget that - maybe I do) . He also said he hates animals and himself and a lot more things in a gaming stream of 4 hours and in between answered questions about his favorite food etc.
3rd - Translations make a difference. There are many different translations of what he said and they differ a lot and it depends on who translated it - a hater or someone neutral or a fan - because Japanese speaking ppl are not agreed on the fact whether he actually meant "hate" or "dislike", which makes a difference in how heavy the wording may hit. As I don't know Japanese myself I can only refer to translations of others and chose which translation to take as truth (none and all at the same time), I guess like most of his English speaking fans. (I can assure you from other native Japanese speakers that the Japanese FS fandom in general doesn't care at all for what he said in that stream, so maybe there is a context we as non-Japanese speakers are not getting or a society thing shows.)
THOUGH I do agree that the wording was mysogynistic and I am not excusing what Shoma said.
But I also don't neglect the background of the time that it was said at a time where he was without a coach, didn't feel he was worth anything, was thinking about quitting skating etc. Back in September 2019. So for me a mood where you say bad stuff. (If any of you wants to read different translations of this stream, you're welcome to ask - I'll send you links)
Btw you can read many interviews where Shoma praised woman and girls, for example he wanted to train with the Et*ri girls because he found their skating/jumps impressive. He also had two female coaches whome he praised at any minute, he also was the only male skater for long time in this group. In one of his recent video on his official affiliated channels he talked about "how girls are so much better at doing steps than he is". In SOI 2021 he praised the girls - who he was in a group number with - because how they repeated the number again and again and made him more comfortable because he was so bad at learning it. (The Japanese girls have all spoken in Shoma's favor how he made them laugh, about his intense stare in his eyes etc. You can also look this up under # soi2021)
As for Nathan the issue is different from Shoma's case. It was an official interview about the perception of the sport as "feminine". So he wasn't even asked about his personal feelings towards girls or LGBTQ ppl or asked about his sexuality but he chose to speak about being straight and about how the sport is "LGBTQ dominated" which is just plain wrong and how he wants to make the sport more masculine instead of adressing the perception of the sport as wrong or problematic. (Shoma was asked "what about girls" and talked about himself not the sport) Nathan as a world champion is heard and had a chance to have an impact to talk about the problems but he didn't. Instead he showed internalized homophobia and misogyny (not on purpose ofc and he may not even realize it yet) in his answer, so this was no help at all for the problems in this sport. Call me biased but there is a huge difference if you mumble something while gaming or if you have an official interview and know your words will get published and recorded. I don't and I won't excuse either one for what they chose to say, but to put everyone in the same pot just because "misogyny" is mentioned is a far too easy take.
I understand ppl got offended, it's also fine to cancel your support for either Shoma or Nathan. But as I said about Nathan as well in the post, I believe in the good in ppl and I am very sure those few sentences don't picture Nathan's nor Shoma's whole personality or world view in general. I don't judge ppl based on a few sentences, because I also wouldn't want to be judged by one insensitive thing I said at some point. We don't know these skaters, I haven't talked to them, did you? I also believe ppl can grow past mistakes and I also believe action speak louder than words. (I can only say for Shoma but when I met Shoma at the Challenge Cup he was surrounded by women and he signed autographs on the floor while everyone looked down on him and that's a thing a mysogynist would never do)
Calling out wrong behavior or microagressions is totally fine and we can all learn a thing or two, but to hate on the skaters or call them mysogynist or homophobe is going a bit too far imo. Also it deflects from the openly straight forward homophobe and mysogynistic men in this world.
And lastly as I said in another post already I follow skaters for their skating and Nathan's skating was never my cup of tea, so I wasn't his fan at all before, which is very different with Shoma as I loved and still love his skating and call me crazy I am not liking Shoma any less than before, because his skating remained the same and also I don't put ppl on pedestals. I am not actually personally offended when someone turns out to have flaws and views that don't represent my own views. I am old enough to understand that ppl irl differ from the person they show outside and I am also old enough to understand ppl have many layers of their personalities and just because views don't fit my own, doesn’t mean they are awful persons.
I write far too much, but I hope you got what I wanted to bring across, girlie....
_____
I am here in this fandom for skating first and foremost and I support who I like and if you don't like Shoma (or Yuzu) anymore or at all feel free to unfollow and block me.
If you want to talk about Shoma and what he said you can send me a message I swear you can be honest and I also understand if you're not able to support him anymore. I don't want to convince anyone that you are not allowed to feel offended and hurt, just that I am not. I was disappointed in his words as well but I looked into my heart and there is still the same feeling there ever was. (You can also talk about Nathan but I may not be the right person to help you here as I never was his fan)

This is gonna be long, so sorry in advance, but as someone who enjoys long fics here are my two cents:
I get why some ppl may not want 75 tags in fics, but this is gonna hurt long fic writers. On a long fic there are probably gonna be more relationships that are central to the plot that aren't the main ship. And side pairings that may be a squick to some ppl. Not to mention trigger warnings and tone tags.
For example: a long fic with the pairing Y x Z. Z had an abusive relationship, and that's gonna be explored. So the author tags abusive relationship, bc that's a trigger, but an explanation next tag saying "not current ship" or smth.
Then Y has very important friendships with some of the cast. These are central to the plot so they're tagged too.
Turns out, character W is controversial in the fandom, but they're central to the fic too. The author is gonna tag after the character tag W positive/negative; so ppl who don't wanna see positive/negative things about W can skip this.
And guess what? Ship A x B appears in this fic too. Maybe it's not that central, but this ship is also disliked by some people, so the author will tag it, so ppl can filter through.
Another problem is with media that has different mediums, like, the media Y, Z, etc are from has movies, and books, and games and a tv show. All these things actually have different stories, different enough at least that ppl may only want to see fics written for the movies! But the author wants to take plot from the movies and the books. So instead of just tagging the all media tag for that media, they also tag media (movies) and media (books)
These tags end up accumulating. And especially in long fics. The author could make the first chapter a list of tws and stuff that they keep updating, but that destroys the purpose of ao3 tags: you can't filter content like that, you can only filter tags.
I honestly think they should just find a way to delete the fics with the trolling tags, or make a readmore thing so it doesn't hurt the browsing. At the very least make the tag limit longer.
sorry in advance that this is going to be rambly and weird. I have a lot of thoughts.
I get where you're coming from but I also still disagree. Like it's definitely going to change the way longfic writers tag, but I really don't think it's going to hurt them. I think it's going to encourage more effective tagging and that that's going to be better for everybody in the long run. If anything, I think that overtagging is what's hurting longfic writers, it makes their works look unappealing, and actually important information gets buried in a wall of text.
i will admit though that I do understand better now why less room for trigger tagging is going to be an issue. My preferred tagging style is "General/umbrella warnings in the tags, with whatever elaboration/specifics the author deems necessary in an author's note/author's notes at the beginning of each chapter" (example: "animal death" in the tags, so that the filters catch it + people who can't handle the subject At All know to keep scrolling, and then the author's note specifying that its in the context of game hunting & not a pet death, so that people who were uncertain and needed more info could click in and get the specifics.) and I thought that preference was pretty universal? But apparently a lot of people use the tags as an exhaustive list of warnings, which I didn't know because when I see a work with more than, well with more than 75 tags, I just start scrolling until it's gone.
(this is a tangent and I get that my experiences are not universal. but I genuinely dislike full warning lists in the tags because, for me at least, it makes it harder for me to figure out if the story is something I can/want to read. The things I Really Do Not Want To Read about are rare, and rarely tagged the same way twice, so the exclusion filter isn't really helpful for me. I have to actually read the full list of warnings and if the things I'm looking for are sandwiched inbetween a bunch of trope/character tags in a big wall o text I am going to miss it. This has happened to me multiple times.)
I think that that's an ineffective tagging style, basically. Lots of tags is kind of the opposite of useful tags, imo. Short, to the point and consistently worded warnings are better and I think having less space will encourage people to do that. I understand why people do this other style, though, and also why it would frustrate them that they can no longer do that. I think it really sucks that ao3 let everyone wild west their website for so long that it managed to spawn like three distinct groups of people who all use the website in completely incompatible ways, and now it's at the point where any new rule implemented is going to screw a lot of people over no matter what. But I digress.
Anyways, as long as someone isn't putting Revolutionary Girl Utena levels of warnings in their tags (and if your fic needs that much... maybe you should just put yur top 10 biggest warnings on there and slap a Dead Dove Do Not Eat on the end there, yknow?), I think that 75 tags will fully accommodate them. I get that tags start adding up, but also I think a lot of people are underestimating how many tags 75 tags is.
Like to just add up how many tags are used in your example: three / pairing tags, lets go crazy and say three more & pairing tags, tag every character tag in those pairings that's twelve, #abusive relationship + #not main pairing tags, three fandom tags bc multiple source mediums, a #[controversial character] positive tag... that's 24 tags. Like all the necessary character & pairing tags are handled in less than a third of the space given (and personally I consider this slightly over tagged. I think the only character tags you should put on a fic are the very mainest/pov characters, but yknow) and honestly if you can't then figure out a way to communicate the rest of the necessary information about your fic in 51 tags and a 1250 character summary then I really don't know how to help you. I personally would have to really push myself to figure out how to put more than 75 tags on one fic, regardless of the length of the fic. And I can't help but notice that a lot of the fics I could find with over 75 tags while searching last night had a lot of... unnecessary duplicate tags, often for information that could've been easily otherwise intuited (tagging #mandolorian #mandolore #mandolorian character and #mandolorian culture on a Jango Fett pre-series fic, for example)
I do have some criticisms about the current change though. I think it would've been better to have individual tag number limits for each individual field (x number of fandom tags, x number of character tags, etc.) instead of a 75 tags over all limit (or make a "warning tags" field that's separate from "additional tags" but that's a separate essay and would... probably mean overhauling the whole site. so not very practical.) A readmore option would be good too, and I'm not sure why they didn't go for that? I also think that this change will be most effective if done in combination with other changes. Like posting very loosely or not at all enforced official tagging/style guides for the site. I really think that even a tepid attempt at standardization will increase the site's usability like, A Lot.
I'm not sure how cohesive that was. TL;DR I appreciate hearing your thoughts, mine are that I still think this is a step in the right direction. And that cutting back on overtagging will lead to more concise, effective tagging which will make browsing and filtering easier in the long run.

A friend has convinced me that the Arkenstone is a Silmaril.
- glowing rock
- similar sizes probably. fit on giant evil crowns and in hobbit pockets alike.
- ppl went war-crazy over them
- one of them was lost to a fiery pit
- a lone mountain is very likely to be a former volcano
- Middle-Earth's timeline is stupid in a geological sense anyway so SURE there's plenty of time between the First and Third Ages for a volcano to die and get turned into a dwarven city-state why the heck not ლ(ಠ_ಠ ლ)
This lends itself to a particular logical progression:
- the dwarven lords swore their obedience to the rock, not the line of Durin, after it was found
- this is why they could refuse to go with Thorin to retake Erebor
- this is also why it was so damn important for Thorin to get the Arkenstone specifically ASAP, instead of "eh we'll find it eventually while we're sorting through the treasury"
- they didn't originally intend to slay the dragon as a group of 14, they meant to get the Arkenstone, go back, and command all the dwarves to come attack Smaug
- ANYWAY a key feature of a silmaril is that it burns anyone who doesn't have the right to possess it
- so when Bilbo is like "here's the Arkenstone", Thranduil is like "what the fUCK that is a SILMARIL Gandalf WHAT" and Gandalf is like "WHAT THE FUCVK i mean MY AREN'T HOBBITS INTERESTING LITTLE FELLOWS what the fuck what the fuck"
- and then Thranduil is like "well it isn't burning him so that makes him the rightful owner"
- and then someone, probably one of the dwarves, it would be kind of hilarious if it was Fili or Kili but it could also be Nori (very savvy), Ori (a scribe) or... I think it was Balin who was responsible for teaching the princes things like history idk, ANYWAY one of the dwarves is like "wait doesn't that make Bilbo King of the Dwarves?"
- Thorin is shocked out of his gold madness by the fact that actually no he isn't King Under the Mountain
- "Maybe you can be Consort Under the Mountain if you apologize nicely enough."
- "... Apologizing nicely? Uncle Thorin?"
- "Good point. I guess we'll never be princes again, Kili."
And so Bilbo fixes everything with hobbity practicality and also offends tf out of Thranduil and Gandalf and the dwarves without them being able to do anything about it.
- The dwarves love that Bilbo told Thranduil, very loudly, in front of the entire elven army, that he can fuck right off though his elves are welcome to return to sell food, and he will get his stupid starlight pebbles AFTER all the ACTUAL priorities of feeding and housing everyone, and going through Erebor to assess the city's structural integrity, and washing and uncursing the hoard, and actually sorting through it for Laketown's money and paying the food merchants and dividing heirlooms from liquid assets and etc etc etc have been addressed. And every time Thranduil behaves like a sulky fauntling, his stupid rocks go down one slot on the very. very. long list of priorities.
- (The dwarves are much less pleased to have all the wealth of Erebor called "rocks" and "pebbles" and "mathoms".)
- so get this army off my doorstep NOW Thranduil, or do we have to send missives to all of Middle-Earth that you are an oathbreaker as should've been done a century ago.
- You know. When you broke your treaty of mutual aid to the kings of Erebor. And left thousands of innocent, traumatized survivors to starve to death. It's one thing to refuse to enter a lost battle. It's something entirely different to refuse to help the refugees. Children starved, Thranduil. CHILDREN.
- p.s. You have no idea how badly you, and by extension all of Mirkwood, have offended all of Bilbo's hobbity morals here, Thranduil.
- if Bilbo was even the slightest bit more vindictive, Thranduil would have to abdicate and Legolas would have to rebuild all of Mirkwood's diplomatic ties with a severe handicap. Oathbreaker is a SERIOUS THREAT given what we've seen of Middle Earth societies.
- so considering the Arkenstone just got revealed as a Silmaril, putting that memory right at the top of everyone's minds, there should be PLENTY of elves either old enough or educated enough right there to make the connection between "bloody war over the silmaril rocks" and "bloody war over the starlight rocks" and want NOTHING to do with it tyvm
- Bilbo like "we will NOT be housing anybody in the mountain but the original Company before we've inspected each space for structural safety, no even we aren't just wandering around the mountain willy-nilly, the dragon broke a lot of stuff and a big enough rock fall will break even a dwarf's thick head"
- Bilbo also like "for valar's sake, Bard, take your mob home, set them to salvaging what you can of Laketown and Dale, send messengers to your trading partners that there's a lack of food and enough money to pay for it up here, and bring the salvage up so we can build you all shelters for the winter"
- Bilbo like yes OBVIOUSLY i'm going to feed and house you all, how dare you have to ask
- Bilbo setting Gandalf to breaking rocks on the lee side of the mountain so they need less salvage to build with, oh I'm sorry did you want to help shovel dragon dung instead, ah yes that's what I thought
- idk what this does for the orc army but that's not the point
Bilbo: Seriously, Thranduil, what do you care if it takes another century or two to get some pretty rocks. You're an ELF. You're already fifty thousand years old or something ridiculous like that. Bilbo: You basically let thousands die and went to war over the equivalent of a one-month delay in shipping.
Now, if he'd had ANY sense, instead of being a Karen... Thror: Nope I'm keeping them MINE ALL MINE ALL THE GOLD IS MINE Thranduil: . . . Thranduil: Eh, you'll die off soon enough. I'll just call your descendents until one is sane enough to honor the contract.
Thranduil: We elves have songs longer than this shipping delay. Thranduil: I think I'll go listen to one.
But that did not happen! Instead it was more
Legolas like "dad could u stop being so horrible u are embarrassing our entire family"
Legolas like "dad stop screaming at the teenage cashier over your 25 cent coupon"
Thranduil: I WANT TO SPEAK TO THE MANAGER
Fili and Kili: ooooh, he wants to speak to the manager~ Bilbo: I AM THE MANAGER

I never wished for Gillian’s relationship to fail, but I was largely indifferent to it and it has nothing to do with Gillovny. Funny enough, I do actively dislike David’s relationship for obvious reasons.
I wasn’t super involved in the tumblr fandom during 2015-2016, but I do remember all of the fuckery that went down with David and gillian. Their behavior was what ignited dormant and new shippers. It added flames for those who never let that flame die.
So, you had all of G and D’s antics and shit, which many were going crazy over. Some notable people as well who have since distanced themselves from that era. Like most people were for this shit because whatever was going on between them was too hard to dismiss as being friendly or professional behavior. Or even harmless flirting.
Now, there are those who always insisted that G and D were acting and putting this show on for the fans. I guess to drive ratings, but this argument has always been nonsensical to me. For starters, people who are interested in Gillovny are going to watch regardless. Almost everyone else don’t give a shit and was going to watch the revival for Mulder and Scully. The things fans went crazy over wasn’t enough to even get anyone interested in the show who wasn’t already interested.
Like, the kimmel interview is mostly only interesting to someone who follows Gillovny or knows of their history. Other people would find their behavior interesting, but would they really make them watch the show??? And it’s barely even a headline.
So, what they were doing back then was enough to get philes excited, but not enough to drive ratings. Which cancels out the idea that they behaved the way they did to garner attention.
But, the naysayers kept insisting that this was all a PR ploy.
After (???) season 10 premiered, Gillian was spotted with Peter I suppose. And she kept being spotted with him. Don’t know the true timeline. But, when this happened, suddenly, these same naysayers were Gorgan. They were all in on Peter and Gillian and throwing shots at Gillovny fans and how we were “played.”
(It must be noted that just because Gillian ended up dating Peter doesn’t mean she didn’t have a thing with David. Lol)
Over time, they were gassing up this relationship and talking about Peter’s greatness and how he and Gillian balanced each other.
For me, my bullshit meter was going on.
Yes, some fans just wanted Gillian to be happy and shit, which I’m all for, but the loud gorgan supporters used this relationship to “get back” at the Gillovny crowd. I honestly don’t know how hostile it became between the two groups, but from what I did see, this support was superficial, which was proven years later.
Because, imo, how can you be for a relationship that just started and you barely know anything about it? How can you know all of this about two people you have no insight on? Gillian keeps her relationships largely private and we know even less about Peter’s relationships (read: marriage), yet there are posts about how these two are a good fit? Lol
What solidified my indifference was Gillian’s behavior. Pre like 2013, Gillian wasn’t really featured in the media all that much because she wasn’t doing any noteworthy projects. Then, she did the fall and was featured more. She was very vocal about being a feminist and shit. “Future is female”, talking about her same sex relationships, didn’t want to be in relationships unless she was in control. Isn’t this the woman who famously ended a relationship by going home and leaving her then boyfriend on the beach to find his way home? Lol.
Gillian’s image was very independent, assertive, I’m the boss, blah blah blah.
Then, she gets with Peter and it’s “he’s responsible for my success.” Peter this, Peter that, blah blah blah blah.
Gillian’s image is now submissive, insecure, handing the reigns over to her man.
That was something that made me look at her differently and not care for her relationship. It felt like whiplash from her previous image.
That image she cultivated with Peter was so contradictory in what she presented herself as while they were together. So, although I still supported her professionally, I just wasn’t here for the relationship.
Ironically enough, Gillian and Peter are the ones who come off as having the PR relationship compared to whatever David and Gillian were doing. Maybe not on the red carpet, but Gillian has (always) been silly and sexual with David. There are x files outtakes that proves this. She jokes/“jokes” with David about wanting to suck his “cock” and David has said shit to her like “did you just cum?” In many of their interviews, Gillian is the the giggly and silly.
Even when Gillian was with Mark and David was still with Tea, that dynamic was there, but a muted. 2015/16 was more pronounced, but it didn’t come out of nowhere. So, the idea that this was PR doesn’t track.
But, Gillian gets with peter and, suddenly, she has a personality change and is singing the praises of her boyfriend who she later works with.
Do I believe this was a PR relationship? Tbh, I don’t give a shit either way. But, PR relationships exist and have always existed in Hollywood. They function many ways: to bring attention to one or both parties, to deflect from (potential) rumors, to build hype for a project, etc.
Peter and Gillian were gassing each other up and shit, selling one another and their relationship. Many famous married couples don’t even talk about their spouses like them (and, yes, I believe these married couples love one another).
The thing about David and Gillian is that, even tho some thought something may have been going on around 2015, some people have always thought they were fucking at one point in time. Others think they just have massive chemistry. But, why would they need to fake a thing between them that they won’t admit to to manufacture interest in the show that people were excited to see come back? It sounds contrived, doesn’t it?
Compare that to: a well loved and acclaimed actress who hasn’t had meaty work in a while getting together with the creator and writer of a show that’s an Emmy darling. They’re always singing each other’s praise, which is noteworthy for a person who doesn’t talk about her relationship much. Who she then later works with on said show.
Which one sounds more like PR?
The actors who’ve had mad chemistry since they’ve auditioned together? Who’s chemistry never wavered even when they couldn’t stand each other and now are in a better place?
Or...
The actress and writer who talk about how wonderful their partner is and that this relationship is so mature, and then later work on his show together before breaking up a month later?
I honestly don’t think it’s absurd to have skepticism towards gorgan. Many of those adamant that gorgan was real and others are delusional are invested in gorgan because their anti Gillovny. And some did truly want to see her happy, but most weren’t invested in that way.
Whether someone thinks gorgan was real or not, I found it embarrassing on Gillian’s part. It’s probably more embarrassing if it was PR and sad if it was real.
And I know ppl will disagree with that because they found the relationship mature and supportive, but again, crediting Peter with the success of her career??? You can’t even argue, “she means now” because Gillian was getting a career resurgence and rave reviews for Stella Gibson and bedelia de murier (???). She had her role in American gods (I know it was one episode).
And in each of these roles, it was “omg! Gillian Anderson!!!”
She was so loved in Hannibal, they fucking expanded her role. And this was all pre Peter (American gods may have had some overlap).
Gillian isnt “struggling” for roles because people don’t want to hire her, she’s “struggling” because she’s trying to find roles that balances being a working actor with being a hands on mom.
And that’s why I was always “meh” about the relationship. I don’t think Peter’s a bad guy and he’s good at his job, but the way Gillian’s persona changed during this relationship was off putting and I didn’t care to get invested in them for that reason. But, as I mentioned on other occasions, the vocal support of the relationship and notable silence when they ended will always be fascinating to me. I honestly believe that gorgan support was fueled by the anti Gillovny crowd and backlash to David’s relationship (its a 🤮 for me too) and behavior towards Gillian regarding the x files’ potential continuance.

You prolly won’t see this but I’m jealous of how you and a few others just left social media. I have tried to quit before and yk didn’t succeed but I want to. Badly. Any tips on how or idk... anything that would help me?
Tumblr media
Ummm I- It’s a lot to take in. A lot to type however!!!! if you really want to know, you’ll read it.
So first thing... Um... I’m not too sure where to start. Idk you so I would like to ask this, why do you want to leave social media behind? There’s a lot of ppl on social media and shit tons who aren’t on it too. And not just older ppl, they are young ppl who aren’t on it either. For me.... Okay so I was NOT fully in control of my own social media as I have a management team and everything, I wasn’t on it hours a day. Some days it was 25 minutes, sometimes less than that and sometimes adding up the times from the whole day it would average to be MAYBE 45 minutes but it wasn’t consistent. Some days it was not even 10 minutes. Social media isn’t how it used to be. It’s gotten worse and there’s a lot of toxicity on social media and it’s crazy how ppl are trying to normalize crazy shit or toxic shit as if it was something normal as hair growing out of our heads🤦🏽‍♂️ I started to see social media for what it really is. I started getting into different things yk? I kept busy and did a lot of shit. I found other things to do, so like if you were the type to use social media when you need a break from work, kids, schoolwork, friends WHATEVER it may be, for me, I would find other things to do. Yk? I actually find it disgusting how ppl are addicted or don’t even realize that they feel like they have to go scroll or see this picture or watch this video on whatever social site. But back to the main point, if you need a break find things that ease you. Sitting down on social media is doing what for you exactly? Maybe entertaining you or taking your mind off of your problem but what is it really bringing to YOU?? Let’s say you like to cook, bake or sing or dance. Why not find recipes to try out? Pick up on notes, practice singing or CREATING your own choreography? If that’s not what you’re interested in, or if you don’t know what you like at all. Do some self exploring! Like writing, or studying, drawing, painting, shopping, going on walks, swimming, try some weird food combos, try to learn a new skill or trick. Perfect your craft. Try having conversations with ppl and not just hey wyd convos, really have conversations that are meaningful that you can take away from or learn about the other person. If you like to knit or color go do that, if you like math or puzzles then go do that. You’ll learn a lot of shit by stepping back and analyzing things. Find something you researched and thought it was amazing, learn some trivia, find out what you can do to better yourself or make money or learn some skills. Further yourself. Learn how to form your own way of things. Like literally it is all within you. Your 2nd question was why did I leave. Well, this is a long read too. I left bc for 1, the group was talking about it and I realized a lot things about myself, I again saw it for what it was and I met ppl who don’t have it. So many of them were happy or had something about them that made them special or different. They even had their own set of skills. I think they’re amazing ppl. Um after doing it, I felt much better. Extremely better even tho that may sound like its an exaggeration, I felt great. Like a huge relief and my mind was into this “What do we start on now?” Mode. I did it without thinking too much. (Tbh tho, overthinking can do damage or fearing holds you back from the other side of success.) So I did it and I was proud of myself. The more I’m off of it tho, I’m changing. Almost everything. I feel like I got my life back tbh. If you need ANY further help or tips or want to explore more of what I think or how I can help, comment and I’ll send you a text from a secondary page where I’ll text you but here on my main page I don’t allow messages from ppl unless I’m following them. 52 # of books the average CEO reads. “The more you learn, the more you earn” and that doesn’t always mean money, you can be rich in a lot of areas of yourself and your life without it always meaning money. 💯❤️ peace and love to you if you read this far❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ EDIT : 60 is the # of books my bad guys
