what do we think about kpop idol au revalink where revali is from a big 3 company (i feel like he gives sm or yg but idk) and link is from a smaller company, but they get into a dating scandal because of dispatch's stupid dating dump at the end of the year or whatever

revali is appalled to have dating rumors with this little runt from a nugu group (he's lying, link is totally his type), meanwhile link is losing his shit bc it's his idol it's THE revali 🫣

im gonna use this ask as an excuse to talk about idols!link and revali bc I HAVE SO MANY IDEAS

first of all revali is def giving agust d vibes, that fuck capitalism and the government sorta songs, and he definitely writes his own music (he thinks that artists who don't write their own music aren't real artists). no wait like genuinely. have u guys seen the lyrics for all the songs on d-day?? and like the mv for amygdala?? totally breaking kpop industry norms and I can totally see revali doing that, like yes babes talk abt your mental health and traumatic experiences, pop off king !

I bet revali prefers doing hip hop style dances, like you're never gonna catch him doing those rlly simple trendy dances. nah he out here doing flips and bboying and stuff 😭 hmm like think back down or halazia level dances (bye not me finding a way to bring halazia into any conversation SJDHSJF)

also he definitely only sings live, no lip syncing for him. one day he gets sick and loses his voice but he still has a performance that day, and his manager is like PLS just lipsync to the track, literally no one will get mad I promise, and he's like bitch no and just has his fans sing the whole song (he goes viral for this, his fans bragging abt how revali would never stoop to the level of lip syncing while his antis are calling him lazy for having his fans do all the singing, then revali's fans clap back at those ppl and pull up the receipts of all the times their faves lip synced)

their companies see how good they are for each other's publicities, so they really push for more of their schedules to be together.. which ofc comes at the cost of the dating scandal. they're hanging out together at some cafe idk, their managers told them to go hang out in the hopes that they would get some more publicity. what they WEREN'T expecting is for dispatch to declare that they're dating??? (that's a lie, link's manager (zelda) definitely knew smth like that would happen and she's the biggest revalink supporter 🤞)

when revali hears about this, he has a freaking meltdown to his manager teba, like 😭 lying facedown on the couch screaming into a pillow, "they think we're DATING?$:$;&2!;@/@ they really think a senior idol would go out with a rookie!!???!: SHUT UP TEBA HE IS NOT MY TYPE-"

meanwhile link has the BIGGEST celebrity crush on revali, like you know how jungkook is with namjoon? yeah 😭 so when the dating scandal comes out, link is just so flattered that people would think that he's worthy to be with revali- he's going around to anyone who will listen and is like "people think I'm with revali 😦🥰🥰" zelda is like girl calm down you're not actually together

I went to the Dallas show too and everyone I talked to said the GA situation was mess. I had seated tickets so it wasn't that bad for my friend and I, but our friend in GA said the line/fast pass situation was insane.

I was so ready to be bias wrecked by renjun but jaemin just wouldn't let it happen

MANNNNNNN i wont get into it abt the line drama too much, idc what they venue said either it was 1000% their fault. As someone who was raised by armys to smarten up abt how kpop works when I first got into it I rly never wanted to do a GA crowd again after how wings tour went down💀😅 but 7dream……

the whole everyone show up at the same time to get in line without any staff to handle how it goes is the venues fault, they were letting people get crushed, smothered and injured just bc we’re “kpop stans and the worst fandom they have ever had to deal with.” and then going on twitter to make fun of us 💀 also idc what anyone says there are a group of 20-30 foreign girls cutting lines at every stop and will not allow anyone to talk to them rationally. There are also about 15-20 American fans doing the same thing- thinking they control front of the line and saying the most ridiculous shit…..unfortunately most of them are Haechan stans too. They make it harder for the rest of us bc they were acting crazy as fuck, everyone else I met was pretty normal and calm😭 but those people were rly insane and staking out the venue by hiding in bushes/trees and piles of dirt the nights before. GA crowds need to be abolished bc some of these people are just abnormal.

idk I have been to well over 50 kpop concerts and ykw, Dreamzens are the worst. like, hands down the worst fandom experiences I have had irl have been in Neo City, they rly do have some of THE worst sasaengs I have ever encountered and it’s not limited to Asian fans, a ton of Western fans have adapted that behavior. It’s rly weird and sad to see.

BUT!!!!! None of that can deter from how fun and amazing the concert was oh my god I love them so much I almost cried a few times I’m ngl, like I’m not that person but NCT Dream mean a lot to me(despite how awful the fandom is, online AND irl), I heavily deep-dived Dream during the pandemic/lockdown and they in many ways became my safe space throughout the mental strain covid put me through(and still does). Their music and them in general bring me more comfort than I realized, like finally getting to see them all together felt idk….. I felt happy again, like my heart was full. It was so nice, I’m crying just thinking abt it, I love them so much bfjwixidcn.

I have really been getting over kpop and very disheartened with it ever since lockdown restrictions have been lifted(even prior bc the way kpop was moving during the pandemic made me pull back big time). Concert etiquette is lost, younger/new generation fans are the most disrespectful and entitled pieces of shit literally ruining the fun, and people are more insane than ever……like I cannot handle this culture of newer fans that truly believe they will become y/n and get an NDA by acting like a wild animal and holding up not only stupid signs but also crossing lines between fan/artists.

There are more problems in this fandom beyond Judy(iykyk) for example, but the fact that people enable her delusion by saying she is pretty and they aren’t doing much to shove her away. SHE READS MY JENO FICS LIKE THE REST OF Y’ALL……. She is not fucking anyone in NCT and its sick how even the fandom has no respect for these artists as human beings

Like I have traveled for many concerts now, and it is 1000% extremely easy to not stalk or ‘conveniently’ show up at the same place as kpop idols. People with the same flights/hotel/at the same restaurant/off-schedule events etc etc are going out of their way to harass these idols.

The whole experience of being a kpop fan is an everyday struggle for me bc on one hand I love these artists for their work and talent so much, on the other hand being associated with fans who act like wild animals that were raised by apes is sooooooo humiliating and not in a nice kinky way either.

I keep saying this is my last year with anything kpop idk. I just wanted to see the neos a few more times in concerts bc they rly do have the funnest concerts imo, but something rly shifted after lockdown, bitches went too crazy fr. I wanna go back to 2019 when concerts were more abt having fun with your parasocial friends and less abt getting attention lmao. Ok I ranted butttttttt yeah. Asking for kpop stans to act somewhat normal is…..outlandish I suppose.

Hopefully the next time I see the Dreamies will be more pleasant! I know this arena is much safer and more prepared for kpop stans bc they handled enhypen’s crowd rly well when I saw them there. Either way I’m going to have fun! Hope everyone stays safe💚

Chuang Asia Thailand Episode 1!

It’s been too long since I got into a survival show lol. I mean my last one was Girls Planet 999 and that was 2 years ago! So anyway I’ll be taking you all with me on this journey by posting the notes I took while watching the episode plus my current top 9. Spoilers ahead!!

•First off before you ask where I’m watching: it’s on the Tencent Video app and it’s free. Ooh and if you’re also watching pls let me know so we can talk about it together!

•I’m happy to see Nene as a mentor! I loved her when I watched Chuang 2020

•This is produced by Jackson Wang? They’ve got TEN??? Okay Chuang Asia I’m interested.

•Looking at the contestant list and of course there are 14 year olds. Don’t vote for the 14 year olds you guys. My personal age minimum for voting is gonna be 17 so I won’t consider anyone younger than that. Contestants that are over 18 get my preference though. The idol industry is bad enough for adults, I’d prefer if we didn’t debut minors as well. I know ironic coming from someone who ults Yeseo lol. (She was the youngest active kpop idol when she debuted in Busters.)

•Also they're really going hard with this being international. This makes Mnet look pathetic for what they did in Girls Planet lol.

•Oh the flirting part with Jasmine was so akwarrrrrrd. 100% secondhand embarrassment.

•I felt bad for Elyn when she was crying and said “No Filming!” But they proceeded to just zoom in on her crying face :( TURN THE CAMERA AWAY FROM HER!

•The trip.com ads are so funny to me because these survival show ads where they pretend to use a product are usually for stuff like snacks or beverages or makeup. But they’ve got these girls pretending to casually book a flight lmao

•The barbie group having only one member thats older than 16 and then proceeding to perform Barbie World where they say stuff like “that pussy so cold” and “he spank me when I get bad” -_- Someone should have made them pick another song.

•OOOH the Avex group’s performance of Left Right was great. Maybe the best of the episode although Mindy was really impressive too.

•Ilene’s little fan moment with Jackson was adorable!

•They announced the first top 9 but I feel like we’re still missing some performances?? Is that an editing thing to get that ranking in the first episode and we ares still going to get more next episode or did they just skip some people? Like I don’t think we saw Ruan and I was waiting for her. I could have sworn there were some CSR members too and I haven’t seen them perform either. I guess we’ll see.

• I watched the theme song on YouTube and it’s so cute!! Weird that it’s all about summer when this is airing in winter though. Is it summer in Thailand?? I thought they were above the equator. Okay yeah they are so idk why they’re singing a song about it being summer. Also I got spoiled for Ruan center! Now I know they wouldn’t just skip her. There’s got to be more intro round performances next episode.

•Okay so my Top 9 picks will be based on who performed in this first episode only so I’m sure it’ll change a lot after ep. 2.

1. R-Jing - She blew me away in the extra performance. Her singing was so pretty! She’s so cute too and apparently trained at SM?? I always latch onto a girl first episode and this is my girl!

2. Akina - Maybe it’s bc of her experience in her past group but she seems really comfortable on stage. I like her vibe and she’s clearly very talented. She seems really nice and down to earth.

3. Rinka - I looked back at her gp999 performances and I can see why I didn’t remember her. She seems to have improved so much though! Her voice stood out positively and she’s got some star power I didn’t see in her old performances. I’m excited to see more of this new Rinka!

4. Lissa - I don’t know how to feel about her strange vibe but I liked her performance. Lots of energy and a nice voice. I’m very intrigued by her at this point.

5. MingMing- such a clear and pretty voice!!! Her and Pangjang together were both the vocal highlights of their team’s performance but MingMing is the only one of the two thats over my voting age limit.

6. Mamcú - Really interesting and beautiful voice. Apparently she competed on the Voice?? We’ll need to wait and see how she does with dancing but she seems really earnest about her desire to he an idol not just a singer so I’ll put my faith in her!

7. Shye - We barely got to see her performance but I was intrigued by what we saw. I don’t know if she can dance yet but I’ll find out soon enough. And lets be real, I have a lil crush on her and thats enough to get you in the top 9 at this point in the game. I mean look at her in her leather jacket!

8. Emma - Her dancing was great and she choreographs her own stuff too! I was really impressed by her dance skills both in her extra performance and the dance battle!

9. Tegan - gorgeous gorgeous deep voice! She’s so pretty too! I really liked her but I have no idea if she can dance. I feel like if she could she would have shown it since she got two performances so I’m hesitant.

Honorable Mentions:

Krista Shim - I’m not voting for Krista because she’s under the age I decided on being my voting limit but honestly I’d put money on her making it to the final group. You can just tell with these shows. It's in the way they edit it.

Mao Xiu Ling & Mao Xiu Ting - Of course we have a pair of twins! I’ve always loved this survival show gimmick. I love their look and their dance together was really cool!

Kaylen - The other half of the Hawaiian Duo! Kaylen pulling Jackson Wang up to the stage with her was such a power move. I didn’t like her solo performance as much as her partner Tegan’s though

Praew- I liked her energy when she introduced herself and then her dancing was insane! I will not be voting for her because she’s 15. She's just a baby.

yuki's generally known as the more gentle and calm one amongst all of the blue lock player (though he obviously gets a little aggressive on the field, but we all have our moments right?). i think this calm demeanor would be a great trait to balance your anxious mindset. while you're struggling with post-action anxiety, he would be able to talk you through what's going on and help you understand that everything you do if okay! he's made his fair share of mistakes in the past, and he knows that the only way to move forward is to acknowledge that what's done is done— what matters today will likely not matter tomorrow, and he's an ace at comforting you on that subject.

he can also be a bit of a downer sometimes...or a lot of the time. i think that your upbeat attitude could challenge this negativity that he usually feels about himself. as i said before, he would be there for you when your having difficult times and you would also return the favor. when he's in the dumps because he lost a game or feels like his football career may be over, you're the person who's there to lift him up and make him laugh. to be frank, your laugh is probably his favorite sound and he'd think of it whenever he needs to focus and remember the things that bring him joy.

my carat journey ♡︎

sypnosis: (im sure the title makes this self-explanatory but) in which i tell you all about my first impressions and journeys as a carat. (i like summed it all up so its super short)

a/n: i havent been a carat for tooooo long but nonetheless it makes me feel pretty happy to see ive come as a carat as well as how the group themselves have grown over the years c:

how did it start.. oh right. when i first came around seventeen or seen something about them it was actually back in may of 2021 from a clip i saw on youtube i saw of them on knowing brothers. this clip was when the mcs of the show were trying to guess all of the members’ names and it was the8’s turn.

i remember watching minghao doing that flip or wtv (sorry i dont remember what its called lol) n after he was all cool and stuff. and lowk i was like ‘oooooo.. hes kinda cute’ hehe. and honestly that was kinda it.

you see, it was in 2018 i was actually a k-pop stan yk during the prime era of kpop. obviously over the next 2-4 years i had lost focus. but, when i came back, that video was one of the many i had watched on youtube about kpop. and when i came back, i became a skz fan. i remember felix was my ult bias and that was that.

but that was until i came across an episode of going seventeen. pretty infamous right? god, i remember watching that episode when they were planting rice (ver-paddy) and i was hooked. i had never laughed so much, it was like my spark had come back. i say that because when i re-entered the kpop fandom, i wasn’t at the highest point of my life. so laughing that much over one video on youtube made me so happy. that was when i knew that i needed to find out who this group was and where i can watch more episodes.

that was when i realized that the group i was watching was seventeen: the group with that one cute guy with gray hair and glasses (the8)! also when i realized that vernon was in seventeen (i knew and recognized vernon bc if his cover with jeongyeon, do i need to keep explaining? i didn’t think so).

although, when i started looking into the members, one caught my eye and it was safe to say it was not the8. it was LA boy hong joshua. idk what it was really but i thought he looked so idk— beautiful. so thats what it was for me. i started stanning the group and having joshua as my new ult bias in june 2022. sadly, over time, my interest in skz started to decline. it wasn’t that skz wasn’t great, they are, y’know how it is right?

that was how my journey started. i started listening to their music, getting into going seventeen, binge-watching like all the seventeen related videos i could find on youtube, and most importantly: going through hell trying to learn all of the members.

oh. my. god. hey, you know, it took some time, but i got there! (i always messed up woozi and hoshi) um.. anyways. as time went on, obviously i was able to experience the feeling of waiting to watch their new comebacks and such. and honestly, i don’t mean to be one of those people, but seventeen genuinely brought my spark back. i had, and still, never been so interested in something until them.

around 5-6 months later, it was in novemeber 2022 when i was pretty settled into the group when my thoughts and views started to change. i was starting to focus on new members. i honestly don’t remember at all how this started but jeonghan caught my eye. and i was hooked.

uh. yeah! but in all seriousness, i’m so happy that i was able to come across such an amazing group. time has passed so much and it’s crazy for me to understand that i’ve been already been a carat for almost 2 years. (pls help me ive watched like every gose episode and inside seventeen episode like 50 million times each, but honestly i’ll never get tired of it).

i’m so proud of seventeen after everything they’ve gone through. watching them win their first daesang made me feel so happy for them, they absolutely deserve it. from practicing together in a small, green walled room to selling out almost all of their shows and stages they perform on, seventeen has grown so much as not just a group but individually.

i just know that if seventeen’s predebut self saw their lives now their joy would just be through the roof. as one of the most looked-upon sunbaenims in their industry, i’m sure most people can agree seventeen tops their line of style when making music.

and i’m also so glad i decided to be a carat. i love the fandom, like i can be on tiktok for hours just laughing watching carats post the funniest memes and compilations as well as making the stupidest tweets. i can very much vouch carats are one of the most funniest, supportive fandoms out there.

no like i can't let it go, i'm still so upset :( long rant about sungtaro/nct/sm ahead

i mean we always knew that sm is terrible at managing their groups but experiencing it in real time as a (relatively) new kpop fan is infuriating... i only got into kpop/nct in mid 2021 so i didn't experience the peak of 3rd gen but from what i hear exo was dominating back then, like especially watching the pre-covid mama clips it's kinda crazy! obviously they're still crazy popular now but if you look at the impact on the current kpop scene they're not really there anymore and i get that has to do with the members enlisting too but i've seen plenty of exols (and fans of any other sm group) talk about how sm will abandon older groups in favour of the shiny new thing. for exo it was nct but now it seems they're doing it to nct in favour of the new non nct boy group that sungtaro + the rookies are supposed to be a part of. i get that they're trying to keep up with current kpop trends and probably want to compete with all the other new bgs but i really feel like they're cutting the nct concept short for no reason. if nct isn't as big as they had hoped it's bc they're mismanaging them!! if they spaced them out correctly i really feel like they could have easily debuted the japanese nct unit plus another korean nct unit, since that's what they seem to be going for with the new one, and i really think they could hold their own within the current 4th gen/upcoming 5th gen climate. obviously i'm gonna be biased as an nctzen but it really doesn't take much thinking to see they're underutilising the fuck out of the nct concept and now they're punishing the members and the fans as a result...

and ig they're hoping to have a good chunk of nctzens follow sungtaro to the new group but it's really not fair to us or them. if they're going out of their way to separate the new group from nct so much doesn't it defeat the purpose to drag nctzens with them into the new group?? like i'll definitely support them bc i've grown attached to them now but it feels like it's gonna be infintely harder now to establish them as their own separate group with their own disdinct voice as they will always have nct's shadow looming over them now, so i feel like a lot of us will just see them as an unofficial nct unit regardless...

this whole thing is fucked but i think what's especially cruel is shotaro got into sm FOR nct and they made his dream come true only to let him waste away for a few years and then rip it away from him again? like that's fucked... also sungchan gets on so well with all of them, i always look forward to him and jungwoo interacting!! like he trained with so many of them, the rookies too, it just feels so cruel for no reason. but ig now we can only hope for the yearly sm town interactions... :(

another thing i've noticed is the fandom's unanimous reaction to this news being very negative. i feel like with the lucas situation the fandom kind of split in half but it seems everyone is unhappy with this. the only remotely positive reaction i've seen is ppl saying they're happy sungtaro will actually finally have a fixed group and will actually get to be proper idols. i really wonder what k- and j-fans reaction to this is but i can't imagine they're very happy either

considering that sm was actively making merch with sungtaro's likness for nct home, ccomaz and the sanrio collab up until recently this definitely feels like a rushed decision. or maybe not rushed but this didn't seem to be a part of their long term plans until very recently, like welcome to nct universe just happened!! ig most likely shohei's injury unexpectedly set their plans back and i'm guessing sungtaro and the rookies were given the choice of delaying their debut within nct or this. and obviously we can't know but if that is what they chose i can't fault them for it. as much as we like to make the unemployment jokes, i'm sure it hasn't been fun for them, like universe was the last nct album and that was in 2021! and sungchan didn't even appear in a music video for it!! considering maw and 90s love are 2 of nct's best performing songs ever, it seems stupid even just on a purely monetary level to not do anything with them. so as much as this sucks i am really happy for them that they'll get to have a proper group now.

i really wonder about the rest of nct too, like seeing yuta's reaction today i can't imagine they got much of a heads up about this or that they wanted this either. first off, i want to sit down with yuta and shit talk sm so bad asdfshjfsdjds like you can tell that man is fed up! and rightfully so!!! considering we're coming up to contract renewal season it makes me wonder who in nct will leave... i feel like i can't see anyone in dream leaving (for now) but in 127 yuta and taeil have been pretty vocal about their discontent. taeil not getting a solo when he's now at risk of getting shipped off to the military at any point feels disrespectful, ik he's spoken about being unhappy about not having anything to do. i was also watching some of the 2 baddies promotional stuff back and you can definitely tell he was not having it back then. he seemed so unhappy and disinterested and who can blame him when he gets a miniscule amount of screentime? considering they gave him so much more screentime in ay-yo i feel like he must've had a big talk with someone behind the scenes and good for him!! i just hope that this continues and isn’t just a temporary change to appease him. and i rly feel like yuta could probably write a book on the ways sm constantly mistreats him, so it wouldn't shock me if either of them were to leave at some point. winwin is another candidate imo, he's so distant and elusive lol like he's building a pretty solid career for himself in china but he keeps making appearances with wayv every now and again so i really can't tell. nct def seems to be his sidegig tho and not the other way around, so i also wouldn't be shocked if he eventually dips. sm is rly fumbling the bag, like how is the supposedly limitless group losing members at such a high rate... sigh

ALSO apparently the new nct japan unit will be formed through a survival show... yuck 😬 sm has always historically stayed away from that, so i wonder if the new management changes and sm 3.0 have anything to do with that. regardless, i won't watch it ESPECIALLY if there are minors involved. i thought they learned their lesson after all the nct dream shit when aespa debuted with all of them being 18 and over and the rookies too. i'm really hoping they're not gonna regress into old habits... also from what i’ve seen from any other survival show, it never feels very fun or fair to the participating trainees, like i never watched stray kids’ survival show bc my heart hurt for them. i also really don't think that a survival show fits into nct's concept like AT ALL, especially at this stage of their career with 3 established units that all came together without a survival show. i feel like if they really wanted to go down that path they should've made that the concept for the non nct bg, that way they would also feel distinctly different from nct, but ig not 🙄

ofc i'll support sungtaro wherever they go but i wonder if we can bully sm into putting them back like dreamzens did for dream's graduation system, like just make the new bg be another nct unit and literally everyone will be happier for it!! ig it will probably have to come from k-czennies since they never care what us i-fans have to say lol but if there is a boycott i'll do it!!

I saw that Reddit thread too - I actually thought that OP was very genuine in his concerns. He enjoyed BTS and was completely fine with his gf doing it too. It was only when she said things like she’s in love with them and said it too much that he started feeling a little weird about it. Even then, it’s not like he’s asking her to stop it or anything. In fact, I actually thought it was really nice of him to come to a Bangtan subreddit to ask for an opinion. And let’s be real, for a lot of people (not everyone obv) being a fan of a football team is very different from being into BTS - one is following a sport and the other is a mildly concerning parasocial relationship. In this case, it felt like it was probably the latter - and everyone on the thread was actually quite supportive, asking him to just be honest with his gf. He doesn’t think her obsession is weird and has nothing against BTS - he just had valid feelings and wanted to understand how best to navigate them without being a jerk. I actually thought it was great of him to try and understand if he was valid or if he was overreacting.

oh wait, that's actually very nice of him 😭 i thought it was like my own experiences / my friends' experience but this just seems like a very thoughtful thing, especially because he is making an effort to not be a jerk and still be supportive while also feeling insecure which can definitely happen depending on the frequency of how much it happens. but also i think the sport / kpop comparison is still valid though bc as someone IN sports fandoms and has been for a long time, played sports, and has also worked sports arenas, people get really passionate about their favourite players (not just the team) and have their own concerning weird relationship with it (to the extent where i have been briefed multiple times not to say i'm a fan of any other team except the one the customer is rooting for because they'll start a screaming match which has happened before to other people in front of me), like of course it's not the exact same thing, there are always differences but the level of toxicity in the concerning parts of the fandom is very similar, as far as i've personally experienced it anyway. i'm sure other people have had different experiences with it, it was just my view of it. i do appreciate you coming to clarify the thread though because i'm not on reddit anymore and hadn't seen the thread and the anon just asked me about my own reaction to it rather than my thoughts on that thread specifically 😭

I've always thought he did something really stupid (not the MySpace thing) because even after the MySpace thing he hadn't left the group and jyp even went on a show to talk about how he went to america himself to make sure he was practicing his dancing and singing and also said that he was fundamentally a good person then a few months later he was kicked out because of a serious personal issue in his private life or smth.

Like i feel like insinuating that he was gonna come back then kicking him out obviously is going to cause more backlash and is just more work in general then kicking him out straight away soo🤔

The members were alll sad and left his space open during their mama performance, said things like let's walk together and that 2pm is one on some site then deleted because of the hate that they were getting and talked about him during their speech and everythingbut idk the idea that they secretly hated him makes me happy so I wanna know your thoughts

People also genuinely think he knocked up hyuna and while I don't think he did that I do think he either did something in those few months or confessed to something in those few months of "self reflection"

iirc the official story is that he took a hiatus from the group, and then after much discussion w jyp he left the group bc he was unhappy as a kpop artist? which i think is probably true i mean the dude was obviously miserable and as messy as he is nowadays i do think he's happy.

god the rumors abt 2pm bullying him are so funnyyyyy i need to hunt down the article where i read them and read it again lol but i do remember whenever me and my roommate watched that wild bunny episode (after binging soooooo many 2pm fan compilation videos) we were SO shocked by how different and terrible their vibes were aksjdsdkljfflgglhjkl

it really made me realize how much group dynamics are like tetris tbh. like removing that one person made the whole rest of the dynamic fall into place?

like obviously, there is no way to know what their ~real~ personalities were like at the time, because they had just debuted so they all had a persona that they were pushing + a character for that show. but he certainly came across as incredibly immature and irresponsible, and it was frankly rlly uncomfortable to watch......like idk but i think jun.k and nichkhun were genuinely pissed off at him for stealing nichkhun's wallet and ditching them at the karaoke room, going to a club with taec and chansung (who had JUST turned 20), and then not answering the phone. he rlly came across as an older friend who could get you into trouble, but can't get you out.

i also remember the others came across (especially taec) as being "followers", who would just go along with his shenanigans because it was funny or interesting. ofc they were all really young then, and like i said before, this show obvs had set "characters" for them to play, so who knows how accurate my opinion was! but i definitely left that episode feeling very grateful that he left the group, or else he would've gotten them into some real serious trouble.

i think one of the most important aspects of a group's dynamic is their ability to keep each other in check. i think it's important for members to be able to be honest and call each other on their bullshit if they're getting to cocky or arrogant or otherwise becoming an asshole. after all, a kpop group is a brand that you are building together - one person's integrity becomes synonymous with the group's integrity as a whole. that's why scandals are kinda serious business: groups are pushing an image of closeness, ranging from "besties" to "found family". if one member is exposed to be an asshole (or just downright evil, i.e. burning sun) it immediately casts doubt on the other members character and integrity.

i also think that the leader of a group is really influential on the vibe of the group as a whole, and we've seen what a mess jay park is. i think if he had stayed with the group, they would've had a lot more scandals, and had a very negative image as a scandal-ridden group. to be clear, 2pm members HAVE had scandals (incl pretty serious one's, like a couple DUIs), but they've managed to shake them off to have a pretty clean image.

2pm's dynamic as 6 just.....works? like they're fun to watch and it seems like they all genuinely like each other and like working together. i've never really gotten an ~off~ vibe from them, or that they secretly hate each other. especially after seeing them w jay. it just felt wrong and off and uncomfortable. also yeah, i think the whole ordeal of losing a member would naturally create a trauma bond amongst everyone else lol

ik that fans voted jay park the leader bc he got first on their pre-debut show but i have always felt like jun.k should've been the leader the whole time....like again it's hard to know bc wild bunny was obviously very contrived, but he certainly came across as much more responsible and level-headed than jay. i think him and nichkhun are a very solid "hyung/leader" line tbh like ik they've each had a DUI but in general they come across (to me) as very stable guys who take their job and their image very seriously, which is important.

and tbh i'm always a little skeptical when groups w/ a member who's on a scandal hiatus say stuff like "let's walk together" or "2pm is one" or do things like leave their space empty.....like i mentioned before kpop groups are pushing an image of "best friends" or a "family" and when the person hasn't left the group, the idols are still having to deal with and interact with that member's fans. when things are unclear or it seems like hiatus is only temporary, it would be soooo bad for their image to be like "fuck that guy", you know? fans would lose their SHIT and it'd only embroil the group in more drama tbh......but i do agree that if the company's going to cut ties, it's better to do it immediately rather than get fans hopes up.

Where are the parents... probably supportive of it all because they do not understand the strains of the industry either. If a respected company like SM wants to sign your kid I suppose they feel honored and it's like so deceptive especially if you do not live in Seoul and can't afford to move your life there either so you only see your child little when they get granted leave or when you can afford to travel - and like if they successfully debut that means the financial situation of the family changes but also successful idols are usually so booked and busy for the first 3-5 years after debut that finding the time to actually go home and see their parents becomes the issue not affording the journey cross country // its all fucked up and i think the general public is a lot less aware of that than kpop fans who see what this has done to their idols

being a parent definitely isn’t easy and i can get wanting to support their kid and help them follow their dreams but i feel like it isn’t right to just chalk it up to ignorance either. yes some probably don’t know and i’m sure they trust a big company to take care of their child while they live away in another city. but i just can’t imagine that’s the case 100 percent of the time. also it’s becoming more and more common for idols to come from well off families think of the jung sisters for example, their family COULD afford to move to korea when jessica signed to sm. and i think they clearly were aware even then that the girls were way too young bc they didn’t let krystal sign at first but they eventually let her join at age 11 or so. then two years after jessica debuted and their parents had a chance to experience it all and hear from jessica, krystal still debuted at 14. the parents would have known at that point but maybe it was too late to stop the company from debuting her. or what about chenle. i’m sure his parents felt like they were supporting their son too, but because if all the singing he did predebut there’s no way his parents didn’t know what they were letting him sign up for when he joined sm. not only that but they could afford to buy a place in seoul and have him live with a family member to watch over him which is still his living situation to this day (although maybe his mom and aunt aren’t there as often now that he’s an adult idk) but clearly they knew and let him do it anyway. and if we REALLY want to talk about not having an excuse then there’s sunny who’s uncle is literally lee sooman and her father is/was in the industry too. she signed to sm at 9 and even though she didn’t debut until she was like 18 her parents let her become a trainee that young when they absolutely new what they were letting her sign up for. there’s also bang yedam who has been one of yge’s favorites since he was a kid like they had him singing and making appearances since he was little. he’s 20 now and he didn’t move out if his family’s home and into the dorm until last year so they must have known too and they still let him go on survival shows and debut (also he’s on hiatus rn. i hope he takes his time and returns when he’s ready) those were just some examples off the top of my head so yes maybe some parents truly are well meaning and want their child to be happy and simply don’t realize the potential consequences but it’s definitely not the case all of the time unfortunately.

listen, idk what's going on but i wanted to share my opinion here, if that's ok, as a nctzen who joined the fandom during the kick it era, i've been seeing how sm is with their foreigners idols, the mistreatment, etc.

one of my first NCT biases was Yuta, and he still being my 127 bias, so he's my soft spot, my bby and when sm treat him bad i suffer yk. he doesn't deserve it (neither do any of the other neos, foreigners or not)

but about the NCT concept, about the brand and their system whether we like it or not, sm is doing their job, is trying to make it work. "infinite number of members" "subunits all around the world"

. we aren't obligate to support all of the members and future subunits, also we don't know about the future so i think if Yuta is going to join another subunit apart from 127, i'll be there for him, actually i'll be very excited bc i just joined kpop bc when my friend told me what NCT is and how their system works, i was really surprised and interested (then i started to listening to their music and finally became a fan but) these people saying that sm will just use the image and popularity of Yuta to benefit NCT Tokyo, then let me tell you guys, that's how the industry is and other could see that the situation was the same back then, with the current units. (members that debuted first gained certain popularity before the others or where already known by the fans before debuting in other subunit) idk if all of these words makes sense to u, sorry if this confuses you! eng is not my first language so i'm aware that this ask is messy af

What you said made perfect sense, don't worry. And I'm happy that you expressed your opinion since I'm seeing this discussion in a new light.

Again, in my first answer, I am conflicted with the idea of NCT Tokyo and putting Yuta in the unit. Believe me, I was delighted when they first talked about NCT Tokyo and I was like "Finally! Yuta as a leader!" I think what scared me was the same pattern SM used when they introduced WayV. The idea of putting Yuta in another unit and pulling him out in 127 frightened me, I don't want to experience the same heartache as when Winwin was completely erased from 127. That is what scared me in putting Yuta in Tokyo unit. But since he already said that he's still in 127, I'm cool with whatever happens.

Again, as per I said, maybe IF they put Yuta in the Tokyo unit, I hope there's another 127 member with him close to his age. Maybe Doyoung since he's really good in Japanese. Shotaro is a given member. Maybe they can also put a Dream member, perhaps Jeno? Since his Japanese is really good. Sungchan is also good in Japanese so there's a possibility and Hendery was studying Japanese. I think I want NCT Tokyo to be like the SuperM of Japan. 😅 If there are members that come from other unit, I think I'll be cool with the new unit. I just hope SM would do their job and treat the members fairly.

I understand that we all have different opinions on this but we cannot do anything but wait for the official announcement and member line-up. This will all go down to Ais supporting Yuta and not the company. 🤭

Oh cool! I just checked out the post after that one so thanks for letting me know 😊 I just needed to understand how a big company like hybe made a KPOP MV boring?? So reading your explanation (and amazing rec definitely am going to check out the blooming day mv) it makes sense.

I am floored as to how boring this debut was bc I genuinely didn't think it'd be this bad? I knew it would be inappropriate bc the concept trailers were so.... mature? Like ive, another 4th gen group, also had some oof stuff with choreo but it wasn't this bad shockingly. Plus the choreo didn't have anything too interesting to me at least. Gosh I'm worried about the two young girls cause one of them is already caught up in a bullying scandal ...

And the song was disappointing and super safe despite their group name being an anagram for I'm Fearless. It was mind blowing to me that there was no twist or interesting beat or climatic moment in the song at all. Like the song could have been much better but oh well. Some of the other album songs were better so I'll take that.

for all the effort that hybe put in to put all the creative team and director in the descriptions of every related video, i'm very fucking disappointed at how boring it is and honestly it's extremely amateur too. there are so many flops doing more interesting mvs with a miniscule fraction of hybe's budget that this almost feels like a purposeful slight. we all know that nmixx had an extremely rocky launch but jype did not skimp on the spectacle for them, as they should have (styling aside. jype just sucks at styling in general, that was nothing new)!

i think part of the reason why the song and mv are so bland is that it's meant to try catch the western market. i know from experience that most 'typical' kpop mvs can be very overwhelming for someone with no previous exposure and it's the same with the kpop style of producing. as a form it's very maximalist and the sheer amount of things happening can easily throw off people who are used to listening to four chord pop songs. i would say that hybe is making these weak 'kpop' tracks as a primer to get more fans into the industry, but the reality is that the gulf between hybe 'kpop' and actual domestic kpop is still too wide for that to happen. they've basically perfected the formula to make fans for just their own groups and not for fans that have a greater understanding and appreciation of the industry as a whole.

Honestly, same, and I know with all the weird people in the world, if you did slip in their dms they would be all wtf you weirdo. I especially hate it when people don't have their ages somewhere on there block, so you don't know if you are talking to an 05 liner or younger or something. Since like for me at least that's an immediate red flag and I just will avoid them then, and if they write smut I block them, since I immediately assume it's a minor who doesn't want others to know just how young they are, which like we've all been there at some point, but still I just can't. I've written for a lot of fandoms BTS, NCT, EXO, SVT, SKZ, Monsta X, SF9, TXT, Ateez, and some other groups that are now inactive or disbanded; and in my experience NCT fans were both the best and the worst, they liked everything, but they are also the meanest, like if they disagree with you on something they would leave comments on your fics and also spam your inbox letting you know their displeasure and you would have to block them to get it to stop, from what I've seen it seems 2023 NCTzens are much calmer than the 2020 NCTzens so that's nice. oof see me resurrecting my writing blog that has been dead for 3 years for a mfer named Park Sunghoon, and he's not even my Enyhpen bias, I gotta finish my fic first tho.

oh bestie when i tell you my time in the nctzen fandom was the best and worst time of my life it's bc of thise exact reasons you just named. i literally got so much love yet even more hate at any given time bc people in that fandom just.....don't want you to have anything good. it was sonnad they literally bullied me out of the nctzen writer scene to the point where i stopped actively being a kpop stan for months 😭 nctzens really are a hit or miss but i guess that's the same for all fandoms!

and about the whole age stuff: i wholehearted agree with this one too. i'm already hesitant interacting with 04/05 liners bc i dont want to make them uncomfortable and the reason why i also don't talk about wonie on here at all is bc of the fesr i might get hate for it 😭 i also instantly block people who dont have their age in their bio bc that shit's scary!!!!!

I can't enjoy Haechan's vocals, he can sing, but his tone is too nasal for my liking, I know he contrasts well with other 127 vocalists, but 😭 and sometimes they mess with his voice and add autotune so it makes it worse. I don't really listen to Dreamies, but I definitely think he fits them more, I know both him and Mark love their groups, but be fr, they shouldn't be that overworked.
