astarion, the man who was dying and offered eternal life, but had no idea that it meant becoming a slave to a sadistic master.
astarion, the man who had his freedom and bodily autonomy ripped away from him.
astarion, the man who was forced to befriend, seduce and sleep with people to lure them back to his master, resulting in severe sexual trauma and the struggle to form any sort of intimate relationship.
astarion, the man who was horribly punished whenever he refused his master’s orders (one punishment being sealed away in a dusty tomb, starving, for an entire year. he scratched his hands raw trying to carve his way out).
astarion, the man who was forced to eat rats.
astarion, the man who hasn’t even been able to see his own face since he turned.
astarion, the man who had his body mutilated as cazador carved scars onto his back, which he later found out was to bind him to a ritual.
astarion, the man who is so severely traumatised that he admitted he doesn’t know how to say “no” or ask for help (and he feels guilty when he does).
astarion, the man who waited two centuries to be helped and freed from torture, but no one came.
astarion, the man who was always treated like a monster when all he wanted was to be treated like a person.
astarion, the man who came up to you in the middle of the night just to thank you for defending him and allowing him to make his own decisions.
astarion, the man who said that no one ever looked out for him or showed him kindness, and that you’re the only one. “other people don’t have a heart like you. you’re you. no one is like that.”
astarion, the man who broke the cycle of power and terror that started centuries ago thanks to the love, care and compassion that you showed him when no one else did.
astarion, the man who confessed that he loves you and feels safe with you; something he has never felt with anyone before.
Zelda travelling around Hyrule after the Calamity and people are tripping over themselves to tell her stories about the Hero because they love that feral cryptid mad man and are so proud of him
'I met him when I was about to get eaten by a Hinox...he jumped off a horse, fired 12 arrows in the blink of an eye and then got smacked in the face with a tree...but then he came back and hacked away at it's legs with this stupidly big sword until it finally died'
'He was wearing this weird patched together mask that looked like a monster but he made enough curry for everyone so we didn't like to ask'
'But...the hero was a girl? She wore these lovely green silks and every time she came out of the Gerudo Canyon she had a bag full of electric safflina to sell to Beedle over there. The Gerudo think she's an amazing fighter, which says a lot, and she always thanked me for looking after her horses when she went into the desert'
'I swear to Hylia that he ran through here wearing nothing but his underwear and a mask shaped like a leaf...claimed he was looking for the Children of the Forest. Sorry, Princess, but I'm not sure he was quite right in the head at the time'
'He used to creep in here silently wearing this grey mask and with enough lizards and beetles that we could make enough elixirs to last for a month. Not sure I ever saw his face without it'
And the entire time Link is stood neatly dressed, three steps away, listening to every word and no one pays him the slightest bit of attention. Because none of them cotton on that 'prim and proper Royal Knight' Link and 'I will defeat this Lynel with a stick, a pot lid and a bucket load of adrenaline' Wild Child Hero is the same man. Especially with how many masks he owned.
When they walk away and are out of sight and earshot Zelda just raises her eyebrow with a smile and he is like '...I can explain...it made sense at the time'
one little thing i really liked about glass onion was how much you could tell about the characters from the masks they wore (or didnt). claire and lionel both wore real, practical masks because they're the most aware of the world even if they make shitty decisions, they're at least aware they are shitty. birdie wears the mesh fashion mask because any "awareness" on her part is perfomative. she doesn't care enough about others to take proper safety precautions but at least tries to adopt the appearance of someone who cares. and duke, the red-pilled alpha dude, wears no mask at all in what i found to be a pretty nice way of showing how that mentality often leans into other far right ideas (anti-mask, pro-gun, exploiting a perceived need to be hypermasculine). like in that one scene on the dock we were able to understand a lot about these characters through a simple but timely costuming decision and that was neat to me
So Callowmoores am I alone in thinking it was cute that Fearne helped carry Ashton to the city? Like there's the parallel also with Ashton carrying her into the Bloody Bridge as well
I don't mean this as in "he shouldn't of died" because i think we all knew that's how his story would always end,My actual issue is HOW he died.
He didn't die feeling bad, maybe he was a bit scared but he didn't have to face the consequences of his actions (atleast not all of them). He had no realisation that everything he'd done was wrong. He didn't see hunter, or caleb, or anyone else on the boiling isles who's he caused lasting damage to. He didn't suffer, instead he gets stomped on, barely painful.
During the entirety of Season (and the last couple eps of season 2), its been shown that Philip knows deep down that he's guilty, and its shown even more with the Hallucinations of Caleb and the Grimwalkers. But he's too stubborn and too far ahead to admit he was wrong. I thought that was what WAD was going to be, Philips 'realisation' and ending.
Fit talking to Phil about the the black concrete has just unlocked the memory that Foolish knows for sure that you should be wearing a mask around the black concrete but then again Foolish is missing, doesn’t care that much when it’s out in the open and everyone assumes he doesn’t know anything… awkward…
Not going to lie I’m disappointed that Adam is now dead. Sure he’s a sexist pig, but I really wanted to see Lilith and Eve interacting with him.
Though now that he’s dead i would be ok if Eve never appears in the series. Season 2 could focus on the Vess being the main antagonist, Angel Dust still needs to be freed by Valentino. Plus a complex written Lilith. I was never a fan of Roo being Eve, I think Roo is its own character, there’s no need to bring her into the show.
Also the idea of the Nerevarine infiltrating an Almalexia temple to help them with an ash zombie problem while they shit themselves over the possibility of having the mask of dagoth ur, to find out one of their own took it and moseyed to a graveyard and just. Let you keep it afterword is really funny.
Also also in my sleepy haze drawing this the potential narrative that dude is just trapped in his mask popped in my head is also kind of funny. Bro he's stuck, can't do shit help him (don’t help him)

When Eel proper stopped showing up in the comics I was so sad, he's easily my favourite part of Plas's story. The alter ego, the double life, the balancing act. I also just like a guy in a suit :)
