yay! the fic is actually rooster/hangman + phoenix/bob! and I'll give you the run down below the cut because uhhhh there's a lot. it's an idea that amy @floydshaw and I came up with when we watched coyote ugly together recently and woof it's gotten out of hand

it initially came about because amy was like omg what if coyote got his callsign because he used to BE a coyote. and then for me it turned into a complete AU thing where none of the characters (the whole squad feature in the fic) know each other through Top Gun/missions but Jake, Javy, Nat and Bob are all still in the navy (and are still Top Gun pilots) but get into trouble and put on probation where they're grounded for x amount of time or until they can make x amount of money. so to make money they work at a Navy bar (which is still called the Hard Deck because hello, perfect euphemism) and make money by dancing on the bar for everyone coyote ugly style. Rooster, Fanboy, Payback, Fritz etc arrive on shore leave and decide to go to this bar that everyone is talking about and Rooster sees Jake and is like. who the fuck is THAT.

and to skip over a whole lot of sex and plot, they fall in love!

but the pretty woman aspect of it is that Rooster wants to help Jake (and the others, I guess) get back in the air. somehow.

lol the poor little blurb that inspired this timeloop fic

i wrote it in 2019 as the intro to another fic that i ended up cutting it from because i didn't think it fit well enough. then i stumbled across it again in december and reread it and thought huh, this would be an awesome introductory piece to a timeloop fic.

started drafting, and now. approximately four months and ten chapters in. i'm considering cutting it again

Feyres internal declarations of love and wanting to be with Rhys forever feel very shallow when you consider the fact that 1) theyve only had like 3 months worth of non-traumatic interactions with eachother, and 2) she thought the exact same way about Tamlin and then she DIED FOR HIM and then she left him after barely half a year

Yeah, now that she mentions it, how come one ash arrow was enough to straight up kill Andras but Rhysand gets hit by like a dozen and hes just fine after this. I guess it could be that Feyre shot Andras in the eye so it was more lethal than Rhys getting shot in the back and wings but still, afaik there are no longterm consequences from this, like hes not even gonna have to deal with idk, his back hurting at certain points or something

Im not a fan of Feyre being so murderhappy now when she was reluctant to even kill animals at the start of this book, like at a certain point Im not so much bothered by Feyre's character being retconned from ACOTAR but her character from start of ACOMAF

I'd say Bucky definitely apologizes first a good 85% of the time and she apologizes first the other 15%. In my mind, reader will only apologize first if she believes she started an argument unnecessarily or if she thinks she reacted unfairly.

When they argue it's normally nothing serious, they just go back and forth a lot with their banter about stupid stuff lol. If they do have a serious argument, it's probably about their future. Reader not feeling comfortable or ready to meet his family or introduce him to her own, for example.

She knows it'll happen eventually, whether she wants to or not, but as of right now, it's a point of contention.

I don't know what would make Bucky lose his cool after everything they've been through and how insanely obsessed, he is with her. it'd have to be something that would make him feel really insecure like something that would make him doubt her wanting to be with him. Let's say she goes out late and doesn't answer when he calls or texts, or she leaves somewhere without telling him - I think that would trigger his abandonment issues and cause a fight for sure. Whether he realizes it or not, I think he does, he's terrified of losing her.

I don't know that she'd ever purposely try and hurt him like that since the realization she came to in the last few chapters of the series, and I definitely think he's gotten more secure in their connection since then, but if anything would make him lose his cool, I think it'd be him getting scared she was leaving for good.

That would probably either upset reader because he would think she'd do that now, and anything that would rehash the dark times in their story for sure would be painful and cause a lot of issues for them. It might go something like this:

"You left?" he accused the moment you answered his call.

"I'm not gone, I'll be back," you responded with a small chuckle at his words.

"You didn't think to tell me?" he questioned harshly.

"It's not a big deal, Buck,"

"The hell it's not," he stormed.

"You need to calm down," you said, growing agitated at his attitude.

"Don't fucking tell me to calm down, as if I have no reason not to trust you,"

"Are you being serious right now?" you scoffed.

"Does it sound like I'm laughing?"

"You know damn well why I tried to leave back then. Don't accuse me of doing something you know I'm not fucking doing," you whisper yelled as you walked to your car, passing a couple as you went.

"You need to tell me where you're going and when,"

"Oh fuck off, you don't get to dictate when I can and can't go somewhere. You don't own me, I'm my own person,"

"This has nothing to do with being your own person, it has to do with me coming home expecting you to be here and finding you gone without a goddamn trace. What the fuck am I supposed to think, huh?"

"Maybe you could try taking a minute to check my location, which I know for a fact you have, instead of being paranoid and going to your worst case scenario," you shot back as you got into your car, throwing your purse down on the passenger seat.

"You can't get mad at me for being worried about you,"

"That's just it, Bucky. You know I'm fine, you can feel it. So don't try and spin this to put it on me. You weren't worried about me, you were worried I left. And yeah, it pisses me off you'd think that. After everything. You wanna talk about trust?" you asked incredulously.

He knew he fucked up when he said it. He didn't think he was entirely wrong in his worries, but he shouldn't have thrown that out there. He did trust you. He was just..scared. Fear always had him acting like the worst version of himself. He shouldn't have called you so accusatory. he knew you were fine, but when he realized you weren't home, he wasn't. Memories of you leaving, or trying to anyway, resurfaced and sent him sick, his stomach dropping and a sense of panic rearing its head at your unexplained absence. Even still, you didn't deserve his hostility.

"I don't wanna fight with you," he conceeded.

"Wonder why," you snarked before taking a breath. "I'll be home soon," you said before ending the call.

"I'm sorry," were the first words you heard when you opened the door, looking over to see a pitiful Bucky sitting at the bottom of the stairs where he had been waiting for you. You exhaled deeply, sighing as he stood and walked to you. "You were gone, and you - you never leave without telling me where you're going. I just- I lost it a bit. I shouldn't have called you the way I did, I'm sorry."

"I didn't think you'd get home before me or I would've told you I was out. I just hate that that was your first thought, that you could think I'd do that to you. Because I wouldn't. I mean, before, when we first.." you trailed off, "I would have before. But things are different now, they've been different, we're different. Better, I thought,"

"They are, we are," he agreed, taking your hands in his. "I'm sorry. I got scared," he admitted aloud. "And I let it get the best of me. I wasn't thinking. I trust you and I love you with everything I have, heart and soul," he said as he leaned down to press his forehead against yours. "You're everything to me. The thought of losing you," he shook his head. "You have no idea what you do to me," he breathed against your lips.

"If I was gonna leave, I would've done it already. It's you and me, no matter what.. I mean this soulmate thing, it's forever, right?" you quipped, a small smile on your lips, "'M not goin' anywhere."

When you looked to meet his eye, you were taken aback by the tears in them, your hands immediately going to cup his face.

"Babe," you cooed gently, thumbs stroking his cheeks. The sound of your voice so soft and concerned had him wrapping his arms around you and burying his face in your neck, your own arms winding around him in return. After a moment, you pulled away and grabbed his hand, leading him to the couch. You kicked off your shoes and laid down, pulling him along with you so he was laying comfortably on you with his head on your chest as you played with his hair.

You could practically feel the tension slipping from him as he melted into you.

"I really am sorry," he said again.

"I know," you whispered in response. "It's okay."

There was a brief, comfortable silence between you before you spoke again.

"You know I love you, right?" you breathed.

"You don't really have a choice, though, do you?"

Your heart clenched at his somber response. That was all you. You recalled those words you'd thrown at him over and over again during those first few weeks. It wasn't a lie. You didn't have a choice, neither of you did. But you meant it as a jab and he obviously still reflected on the pain of it. Your nose started tingling as you felt your eyes welling. You swallowed thickly.

"No.. I guess I don't," you took a moment. "You have to know, when I said that, I was hurt. And confused and angry," you cleared your throat, not wanting to bring up the past again. You held him against your chest, cuddling him close, wanting to bring him the same comfort he so easily provided to you. Assure him of your feelings. When he finally looked up, his blue eyes were gleaming beautifully. He lifted himself up so he was hovering over you, holding your gaze.

"In every lifetime," he said softly. You nodded lightly, a small smile on your face before he leaned back down to kiss you gently. It was soft and sweet before he pulled away slightly, his lips brushing yours as he spoke, "It's always you."

Bucky lowered himself back down into the comfort of your embrace, your presence just as soothing to him as his was to you. As you cuddled into one another, you couldn't help but whisper out a delicate apology.

"I'm sorry I hurt you," you breathed. He squeezed you, rolling onto his side and pulling you to do the same, both of you now chest to chest, nuzzling into each other.

"I hurt you first," he responded, anguish clear in his voice.

Another beat of silence.

"I'd rather you hurt me in every lifetime than ever have to live one without you. I don't deserve you. But I love you so much. I'm sorry I hurt you, I hate that I did. Might never be enough, but I'll spend every day of the rest of my life trying to make it up to you."

You pondered his words and wanted to ask him the one question running through your mind. If not hurting me meant never having met me, never getting to know me, to have me, to love me...would you choose that? You decided you didn't want to know his answer. It would hurt some either way. No point in considered hypotheticals. You both had regrets, some bigger than others. But you had to live with them now, the only thing you could do was apologize and try to make up for them however you could, whenever you could. You didn't have to dwell on them, you just had to acknowledge their existence when they popped up like they did today. Deal with them, work through them. Together. There was no way to rewrite history, but you got to decide what the future chapters would hold.

You decided you didn't want any more regrets in your book.

It would be really cool to see how the two get to know each other and work together, Cale will definitely have some valuable info for Krs and Krs have his own knowledge from reading the novel until the fifth volume, I guess with this, the wars will be much easier to deal with and maybe with hunters later, since Jour is from the Thames and Cale probably knew her the best maybe.

The other two, well, there will hardly be any development? It would be either Krs taking care of young Cale and helping him grow up, or the opposite goes for the last option, it'll be interesting to see their bond improving and how one affects the other but one of them will play very little role in the plot cuz he will always stay lost and confused by everything even if they're both smart in their own ways ever since they were young I believe lol,,

3. Oh I'd really like to read this, I find it so interesting, I think I found one fanfic of such idea but it was only one chapter or 2? It stopped at when ogCale read a novel and slept, then transmigrated into Krs' body and woke up hurting all over his body during a battle if I remember correctly, but Idk if the author updated or not yet or if they'll ever continue it xD

One thing I love about fanfic is the freedom of it all, and like you said "What is fanfic if not an ode to writing that felt unfinished?". Your interpretation of Harry as an abused child at his core in works like "damaged" always get to me. It always felt weird in the HP book series that Harry had such an awful childhood and was as well adjusted and happy in the future.

Another one of your works I was really interested in is 'perfect boys with their perfect lives', the Harry/Cedric aka a certain dark lord one. It really had me thinking about what could have happened in the graveyard if Harry hadn't escaped 🫣

maybe harry's been harbouring fears of his potions being found? :thots: or his husband's made note of his changes in behaviour, accuses him of not spending time/being devoted

they get into an argument where harry gets a looooot of shit for stuff he doesn't deserve to get shit for, stuff that's not even true

harry yells back but gets hit, idk if by magic or not :thots: and he backs down, distraught. then once he's alone, he goes straight for the dream world

dream four - no body no crime

it'll be a much shorter version obviously, and the character roster won't be the same

i hadn't nailed down the specifics of the background and so i'm not sure how it'll look, exactly

harry is NOT married in this dream, he knows dream-husband but they are only friends

dream-husband is ginny's role in this particular iteration

but the climax of this scene is where harry is snooping around in the house, where he happens upon the dream-husband's diary

he's been looking for evidence to prove the murder

harry reads through the diary

and in the diary are tragic entries describing depressive thoughts, details of emotional (maybe even physical) abuse, etc.

this is a pivotal moment for harry, who up until this moment has been in denial about the failings of his real life marriage

reading this in the framing of it happening to someone else is enough for him to realize that it's wrong

what happens to him is not okay

but of course it's not that easy to just, shrug off years of marriage all at once; harry once again exits the dream, thus ending that particular dream universe

he's partly in denial but it's not as bad as before

he's been using the dreams as a coping mechanism up until this point

i've made it sound kind of frustrating but the dream worlds that harry goes to are meant to be very lush, romanticized

while we realize that harry's dream worlds are not ideal, he doesn't realize it right away

he thinks he's still doing something wrong

reality five - coney island

uh so next is probably another real life scene which shows tension between harry and his husband, only harry is no longer acting the way he did before aka accepting things without question

after the dream, harry starts to... notice things. he picks up on the slights, on the manipulative behaviours. he doesn't argue back for most of it, because he's still figuring it out and he's in shock, but he does start acting differently, which is noted by his husband

it escalates things further, a landslide of 'harry is no longer listening to me, is no longer under my control' type of deal where it results in more attempts to manipulate, which harry now sees is bad

voldemort grew addicted to power, made deals with politicians, gained a following

he looks back on past events and picks out the red flags, realizes that his marriage is not a marriage of equals. but just because harry knows these things, doesn't mean he knows what to do. he goes back to the dream world for comfort/answers

dream five - cowboy like me

this one is 'cowboy like me'

harry is there with his husband staying at a hotel, they happen across dream-husband, who is a con artist attempting to swindle an older woman

either harry is also a con artist in a similar vein, or he is mistaken for one - i'll probably decide once it's written out and i get a sense of the vibe

but he and dream-husband have some interesting conversations, flirting, etc

the theme of this dream i think will be further strengthening the similarities between harry and the dream-husband he's made up in his head

this dream ends with a bittersweet farewell

something along the lines of, despite their attraction for each other, they must part ways? :thots: or some other thing

but there will be a bit of a cheeky 'see you soon'

aka referencing the fact that it's a dream/dream world, that the dream-husband is a recurring character in harry's mental space

reality six - happiness

harry's down to two vials now, the bittersweet farewell of dream five has him realizing that time is running out in the metaphorical sense; we understand that soon he will need to make a choice

i might loop back to infidelity at this point, maybe in an attempt to bring harry to heel, his husband starts flaunting an affair? :thots: cause in the past, flirting with other people probably worked to make harry upset and easily manipulated

but y'know now harry is armed with his brand new knowledge of Marriage Should Not Be Like This and also he's got some shiny self-worth stored up, courtesy of dream-husband

dream six - ivy

in this dream world, harry is married to his current husband, but he is having an affair with the dream-husband; not in the sexual sense, but in the emotional sense. drawing on the dream five, harry is seeking comfort and solace from his bad marriage

this dream is meant to remove more of harry's doubts and encourage him to see that his current situation is bad

and i imagine we start to break through the fourth wall; dream-husband speaks directly to harry, referencing real life events that have occurred

he encourages harry to leave

harry is doubtful, obviously. this is all he's known and he's been gaslighted, manipulated, mistreated

he's terrified he will be found out and punished for it

but the dream-husband reassures him, promises him that things will be okay, etc.

he makes harry promise to take care of himself

and i'm thinking in true romantic sense, maybe they spend the night together? :thots:

reality seven - closure

we solidify that harry deserves better, that what has happened is not his fault, etc all the important, healthy things

we have harry reaching out to the people that have been slowly pushed out of his life (mostly by his husband). he’s reconnecting with them, being healthier, i think this section would end with harry going to ron and hermione and telling them the truth, telling them everything

harry is down to his last vial, so he's been saving it

like, he could obviously go and get more, they would give it to him for free, even, but you know it's kind of like

he shouldn't have to rely on that as a coping mechanism any more

dream seven - evermore

i'm thinking harry goes for one last dream, they sit together outside(?) or somewhere else that has significance for harry

they hold hands, harry talks about how much the support has meant to him, what he's learned about himself, what these dreams have taught him

sometimes things don't work out

he knows he needs to walk out and move on

i'll probably cry writing all this so you know it'll be good

the end - it’s time to go

then like i mentioned before, there will be a scene of harry signing divorce papers. his friends are with him, telling them they support him, and he feels... relief. he feels hope.

the story ends with harry attending a party, this time by his own decision. he's here to genuinely mingle with people, with his friends, and have a good time

and then he sees someone

much like the previous dream, it's someone who he once knew

they talk, they catch up, but this time it doesn't feel odd or uncomfortable

harry feels secure with himself, and we end on the hopeful note that this could go somewhere good

Chainsaw Man 142 'Early' Analysis

This chapter is actually really interesting. There's a lot of minor choices in dialog that have been making me re-evaluate denji's character.

As much as I'm waiting on Mifune's horrible gruesome death. She continues to be an interesting character. She seems to share a similar level of awareness to Yoshida. Which I guess makes sense given how close they are work wise. It's really odd to have a character in CSM who's so vocal about everything. I've become used to getting jack shit outside of anything work related.

I'm going to skip over most of the Mifune pedophilia moments for the time being.

This whole conversation has begun to make me reconsider what I was previously thinking about Denji. What if the true reason he only saves women and animals is because that way he can justify not being able to save everyone. Denji cares, Alot. He couldn't save Aki. Up until the timeskip between Part 1 and 2, Denji was never really put in a situation where he had to save a lot of people. Off the top of my head the only chances he's really had were the Bat Devil, In which he chose to throw the guy and his car at the devil. Then pretty much everything else is just mass carnage or very personal stakes. So idk, Could be true, Could be false. We'll see.

Barem shows up at exactly the right time to stop Denji from vocalizing, something. It could've been an epiphany about his own identity, Or just being nice to Mifune. Hard to tell.

We all know what's about to happen, The choice for this to take place at an amusement park with a lot of panel focus going to the people and children who are around. This is going to be the point of no return for these guys. If they really go through with this, There won't be a way for them to redeem themselves. This is more than likely going to be the point in which Miri breaks off from the church. You can tell exactly how each of them feels about this situation based on their stance. It's really good silent characterization. Whip seems to be the only one who really WANTS to do this. Her stance is wide and confident. Crossed arms to try and seem tougher. Note the fact she's wearing goggles. Miri is stiff and tense, He looks visibly uncomfortable. We know he's only going along with this because of peer pressure. He's staring straight forward, Seemingly trying to ignore everything else in front of himself. It's subtle but its further evidence that he's not going to go along with this. Spear is very relaxed. He's holding something. I'm not 100% sure what it is, But based on his open mouth and the shape of it, It could be a cigarette. We don't get a very good look at his legs but he seems to be standing regularly. His expression is hard to read. It could be discontent and questioning, As he appears to be looking at the children in front of himself. It could also be a look of pure apathy and neutrality. He could either be questioning what they're about to do, Or he could not give less of a shit about it and is just doing it because. I feel like what we're going to be seeing in the next chapter is the slaughter. Whip and Spear will probably that going ham. Miro will either kill a few people or none at all before questioning what's going on and switching sides. Barem is a wild card in this situation, He could either stay by the wayside and just watch, Or he could transform and attack aswell. We'll probably see more of public safety doing their jobs. It'll also mean Mifune will have to fight. Either she'll be super competent, or she'll die. Given the fact she was assigned as Denji's personal guard she has to be rather skilled. I doubt it was solely because she's a stalker sex offender.

Leland HCs, because he died in Chapter Four

My heart has been broken by fanfiction countless times with Leland dying omg. (You know who you are) Anyways so I decided to write some Leland Golden boy McKinney HCs!!! They're mostly for my comfort and my inexplicable thoughts. Went from Leland hater to Leland brainrot real fast. Thank you, fanfiction authors! You're a gift to the planet <3 Not used to writing for characters that aren't my ocs, and these are purely my own comfort hcs, so hopefully you guys don't mind my little contribution to the fandom. I might post other hcs if people want? idk Side note: These are also kind of somewhere between "soft boyfriend" and "part time group dad" energy, interpret these how you want. :D

He's not big on slushies originally. Probably not a big fan of cold things generally with a few exceptions of course, but he can't resist seeing you so excited to try the new flavour and wanting to drag him along. (At the time, probably blue raspberry. It came out in '74!) And of course, he'll go with you. You manage to persuade him to try it. He winds up enjoying them quite a lot. Blue raspberry is his favourite from then on, though you can never quite tell if it's the flavour that he likes or the fact that you introduced it to him.

He doesn't like hot custard. Can't explain that one, it's just a thought, honestly. But he'd rather die than eat hot custard, he just doesn't like it lmao

He absolutely has a thing for you wearing his shirts or if he has a jacket on, his jacket at the time. Especially when it's colder out, and he knows he can help you warm up. He protects his friends from literal cannibals in game, so why not from the elements too? And to build on this, I also HC he doesn't really like leather jackets because of his arms. They're always tight for his shoulders. But he still wears them sometimes for style points, you know what I'm saying? (When I say "a thing" here it means his heart is swelling and he can't stop smiling. Proud dad, maybe happy boyfriend, I dunno I'm just here for happy and alive boy Leland)

He gives the best hugs out of the whole group, for sure. He's always warm to the touch, even in winter, it's like he's literally got a built in heater or something. Plus, look at him. He is literally built for hugs. Wrestle hugs? Are those a thing? They are now I said so He'd definitely have anyone he cuddles with feel safe when he holds them. (He also prefers to be hugged around the waist than higher up his body.)

If you ever go out to watch a movie with him, you're absolutely leaving there laughing. Leland is a master of comedic timing and stupid comments. He'll find a way to spin any movie to be a comedy. Horror, Romance, anything. He'll make a terrible joke, and it'll be funny. Maybe less because of the actual comedic value, more in how he delivers his jokes, or how he ends up laughing halfway through them and ends up laughing also. His laugh is infectious.

Leland gives me dad joke energy. I will not elaborate.

He is literally just such a ray of sunshine. He's a bit dim-witted at times (it's ok bb me too <3) but he makes up for it in how pure he generally is. He's a good shoulder to cry on, especially while hugging him (literally speaking as well as emotional things- sorry, I'll shut up about his arms now). He might not be 100% certain how to comfort you most of the time, but he's trying his best.

One thing I can conform for an absolute certain is that he has the most banging record collection anybody has ever known. Man has brilliant taste in music. Queen, ABBA, that whole vibe is his favourite to listen to. He has a collection of vinyls he tells nobody about. You're probably the first to know, likely from him knowing the words to things like Killer Queen especially.

His favourite song, however, is definitely Hooked on a Feeling. It's just... I can't explain it. He'd dad dance to this, for sure. He's just a little silly goofy boy <3333

If you're the type of person that sees fluffy and/or soft hair and immediately wants to braid a bit of it, he will gladly let you do so. He'll probably have to lean down for it to be more comfortable for you. He doesn't care if you're a bit messy or not used to braiding hair properly, he'll happily keep it in for a day at least. He has the SOFTEST hair anybody has ever known, he's just a very fluffy boy and I love him.

In the winter, if you forget to bring gloves or whatnot, he'll hold your hands to warm them up. Referring back to the little portable heater energy thingy we've got going for him. Also, doesn't matter who you are his hands are always bigger than yours even if it's very slightly.

This week's drifter and Eris lore

So for those of you who might not have read this week's new lore entry, here it is. It's the fourth entry in the "Purpose" lore book, this chapter called "Tether." The tldr is Drifter wants Eris to talk to Sloane because Eris is really good at talking people through their emotions. Eris feels like this is out of the blue, and tells Drifter that he should do it instead.

Since Drifter and Eris' relationship started to be something more than friends, I've always felt that Eris is probably bi or pansexual. I think she is definitely into Drifter now and she at least had a crush on Ikora (though it's fun to imagine Ikora and Eris dated a bit long ago).

Anyway, this lore entry definitely drops a lot of hints that these two are going to end up in a relationship. The first two lines are: "Eris let her eyes wander over the interior of the Derelict, wondering if Drifter had hastily tidied it before her arrival. Unprecedented, but he could still surprise her." They've had a few of these conversions on Drifters ship in lore and this is definitely the first he's tried to organize the hot mess that is his ship.

At one point, Drifter doesn't feel like he can help Sloane and becomes silent. "Eris reached out and placed a hand on his arm. He was tensed to trembling, but her touch was light. Quiet. Comforting." And you know what Drifter does? He puts his hand over Eris' hand.

Already these two things are telling about their relationship right now and where it is headed. But we get a bit more. Drifter asks Eris, "Hey, you find that joy yet?" Referring to how Eris during Witch Queen believes she can find joy again in her life after so long of dealing with anguish after losing her ghost/everything that happened in the Hell Mouth. Eris answers with "Soon. Joy is built...but I have taken the first step." This could easily be related to their relationship. They haven't gone anywhere with it but they are taking slow steps to make it something more than friendship.

Then Eris gets ready to leave and she says, "Consider my counsel, Germaine." Drifter does put up a bit of a fight that that isn't his name anymore, but he eventually allows Eris to call him that. Gone are the days of calling him Rat (though I suppose if he's an idiot, he might still get called that from time to time).

Anyway, yeah, it looks more and more like Eris and Drifter are gonna end up in a relationship. Idk how it'll go for them. Heck, even if they end up a thing, idk how official they'd make it. So we'll see. But it's really cute seeing Eris be this open to someone.
