this isn't directed at anyone specifically, as this is a sentiment i've seen a lot, but i think some people were expecting some kind of catharsis in regards to Neo being punished or just straight up dying in the volume 9 finale because they don't personally like and are therefore dismissive of the character; and then making claims that it was bad writing that she didn't get the shit kicked out of her and was then killed, but instead getting to bow out gracefully and taking the first step to improve on herself and find herself again (which, i have to say, is not a redemption, the claims of 'bad writing' always paint it as such which is weird to me - it's like, the start, at best)
and i've been seeing this sentiment for months and, from the perspective of someone who never really had an issue with the character and liked the way she was handled, every time i've always had the same question of like, is it bad? or do you just not like it? cos let's be real that's been a major, major problem in this fandom for years, and even the people who complain about it coming from the loud vocal minority are often guilty of similar behaviour, just in more 'acceptable' ways
there was this really good post i reblogged the other day, which i'll link here, which basically covers my general feelings on this in regards to media in general, but in specific regard to the show;
a) the main characters' priorities have never been on personal payback, and neither has the show's (which it makes a point with several times, with Yang and Blake giving Adam multiple opportunities to stop and just leave as just an example, which he doesn't take), so there's no reason for them to go after Neo when she's no longer a threat
b) by the time WBY would've had the opportunity to 'punish' Neo for everything she did, Neo was possessed, and in the aftermath of that, was no longer hostile to them because of the events leading up to her getting possessed in the first place
RWB/Y is a show with lots of thematic resonance, we see parallels and layers and one of the major themes in the show is grief, and how you handle it; in the Ever After, Neo serves as a microcosm of Salem - she lost the one positive (though ultimately co-dependent and not particularly healthy) relationship she had after a horrible childhood of isolation and instead of coming to terms with her grief, she dedicates herself to revenge (which was her characterisation click moment when she returned in volume 6, as that return actually gave her motivations and a goal, versus how she was in volumes 2 and 3, where she was just kinda there and didn't have all that much to her) and it consumes her, so when she actually does get that revenge she wanted, instead of there being any kind of catharsis, she's just left hollow and empty because she has nothing left, which leaves her open to getting possessed by the Cat
but after being freed from possession, Neo has no reason to keep fighting because of that prior realisation, and comes to the conclusion that she needs to move on, with the best opportunity to do so being letting the Tree help her. and this is what loops back to the post i linked; Neo is given the option to stop and change and she takes it
does it come too late? sure - but by the same note, better late than never. besides, the Ever After is a fairytale world where the normal rules don't apply, so 'late' isn't as damning as it would've been

Rewatching ep.28 of Love Between Fairy and Devil and having some *cough* strong emotions
Part 1 (because I have a lot to talk about)
(spoilers ahead)
Um, what does that butterfly do to Shangque?
Shangque, baby, no, no, no, no, don't do this to yourself
I can never get tired of Canglan sea visuals
So Jieli has to keep taking an antidote every three days? I had totally forgotten about that. I try to find reasons to justify Ronghao’s actions – apart from him being a total snack – and I am sorry but I fail
Oh, my baby is at the bridge. She is so happy! I was so happy too when I first watched this scene. If only I knew
Look how happy he is too! He is finally smiling naturally. So excited that he will meet Xiao Lanhua at the bridge
But hey, will his brother let him be happy? Noooooooo. Little brat
Btw, if I was Dongfang Qingcang and people were outside my palace messing with my personal life, I wouldn’t have kept my cool
This whole scene of people asking him to kill Xiao Lanhua, is causing me nausea, and I wish I was kidding
But I have to pause and admire DFQC’s costume and the light. He looks majestic and there has never been a scene where he looks more a King than this one – I think
For a moment there I thought he was going to burn them all and I got excited. But he just used like one of the last three remaining blasts of hellfire to half destroy a pillar
Xunfeng, seriously, please get a hobby, do something else with your life other than trying to ruin your brother’s life – yes, I am angry, very angry
DFQC is way calmer than I could ever be. He explains eloquently why Xiao Lanhua is the best and how he has helped him. He has come such a long way
I hate though that the kingdom learns first that he loves her and wants to marry her before she does
Awwwweeee, he wanted to prepare the greatest wedding for her. Now I am sad. We never got to see that wedding. Petition for a season 2 to see the wedding
Question: DFQC realized in Lucheng that Xiao Lanhua is the goddess of Xishan. Why doesn’t he reveal this information now to stop them from b*tching about her being a fairy?
Xiao Lanhua is waiting at the bridge
Awwwwe
Oh now, you are all “Please think twice” and you act like you care for your brother. You exhaust me, Xunfeng
Xiao Lanhua is still waiting and it’s night now
Oh no, not the scene with the spikes. Not my baby. I am not emotionally ready. Nooooooooo
I had not prepared any tissues – I am keeping them for ep. 31 – but I feel like I will need them. Damn, it's so much harder to watch this scene for the second time. I don’t want anyone hurting them, I can’t!
And they keep on hitting the spike over and over and over again. *trying not to cry*
Xiao Lanhua is still waiting. I mean they could have done that with the spikes the next day. Let them have a romantic night for crying out loud
Aaaawe, he arrived. My heart.
This should have been the most romantic scene of the show, not one of the most heartbreaking scenes *pouting*
Their first kiss as a couple *melting*
Love how she pulls away and he still wants to kiss. Not sure if that was in the script *wink wink*
Why did her bracelet do that sparkle thingy? What did that mean? Why now?
Poor DFQC and poor Xiao Lanhua
I hadn’t realized on my first watch that he created thunder. So, Xiao Lanhua knew exactly how he felt
He went through all this excruciating pain and he still thinks of keeping her warm
Awe the marriage proposal. Finally something cheerful. I love that he had planned to have the proposal the day after they would hang the locks at the bridge. Who knew he would be so romantic *heart shaped eyes*
Xiao Lanhua is all like I don’t care about the treasures and stuff, but look, I made you this grass bracelet, will you marry me? She always has a way to subvert his expectations, right?
Oh come on, Xunfeng, let them kiss! I wanted to end this part on a good note, but you just had to show up like a fart during a date
Stopping here and pretending Xunfeng never happened. They just got engaged, grass bracelet and all, they are happy and ready to kiss.
Part 2 coming soonish (depending on my blood pressure I guess)

I'm not upset that Day got his eyesight back. I actually really liked this episode. The one thing that I didn't really like was how we never really went more in with Mhok and his trauma and how when they were talking before they ate the cake Mhok said that it was his fault because he pitied Day. I had thought that we established that Mhok didn't pity him he just still had problems surrounding the situation with his sister. And I didn't like how Day didn't apologize. He apologized when he broke Mhok's heart for the second time but that was it. And also going back to my first point, we saw like 3 scenes where Day was thriving and happy and we saw one scene of Mhok working in the kitchen. And like yea that was a great opportunity for him but was he even smiling. They could've been trying to say that Mhok wasn't happy without Day but I think that's stupid. I also was confused about why Mhok seemed so okay with everything? Like he was sat outside Day's house bawling his eyes out and he's away for three years and suddenly he's okay with how Day ended things? Because he understood? Now I'm a petty bitch and I hold grudges so I kind of wish we had gotten an actual conversation instead of Mhok just saying he understood why Day did what he did. But idk
I still really liked this episode in spite of all that and like I have stuff I don't like in every show I watch so I still think this is an amazing show and we should all remember that not everyone is gonna love it, not everyone is gonna like it, and not everyone is gonna hate it. Just because you don't like it doesn't mean that it's bad and I understand the critiques about Day getting his eyesight back but it's not unrealistic like I said and everybody's story is different.
I'll miss Last Twilight but I think it's amazing and I'm happy with the show. I'll miss reading everyone's posts every week 🥲

Same! I'm also a bit hesitant about the casting for Hermes. I love Lin - Manuel Miranda for his music but I've never seen him acting before, besides the musical broadway Hamilton. So im interested in how this will go.... Still having my fingers crossed that Logan Lerman will be Poseidon : , ) - Daughter of Athena 🦉
Same about Logan! But I hear Lin is actually quite good at Dark Materials tho i haven't watched it and I don't know anything about his character so guess we just wait and see, I mean I'm still heartbroken about blond!Percy but the kid is quite funny and charismatic so maybe i'll change my mind about Lin

It's been 7 long years.
The final season of Percy Jackson and the Olympians has just begun to release.
The Ares and Apollo cabins are in a dispute over ownership for the flying chariot.
The counselors sit around a table in the Big House.
Percy has just learned that he's (probably) gonna die in the next month, when Clarisse and Michael begin to bicker. Percy has had it up to here.
He starts clapping rhythmically. There is a lull in the room as they stare at him.
He claps faster.
"Oh golly, the road's getting bumpy, cause I've got me some friends who just can't get along-"
