Absolutely love your blog! If you're still taking Jaehaera/Aegon III requests what about one where they're in a secret relationship and are keeping it from their families but some shenanigans ensue (maybe they snuck out or something, or someone walked in on them kissing?) and they're somehow discovered? Also please overprotective father Aegon II because yes!
(Preferably an AU where the Dance happens later?)
The gathering in the room feels like a court of thorns, and Jaehaera feels as if she is going to hurl. Standing by her family with her grandmother looking at all around with hawk eyes, she feels if something is about to implode. Aegon had been taken from her side to his mother’s, Princess Rhaenyra. The heiress to the Throne had been most wroth, her, her husband, and her sons waking in the middle of the night for this… issue.
The worst of it all, Jaehaerys had been still laughing with damn near tears in his eyes while telling what he witnessed. She had begged him to leave it be, but then he and Aegon got into an altercation, and now… Ugh!
“So I enter her room because I left my book there—” he looks at Princess Rhaenyra and her family, particularly Aegon. “It was my room once too, do mind— and what do I see if not Aegon the Younger pining my sister against her own closet? The closet, grandmother. He didn’t have the mind to get her against a bed.”
She’s going to choke him.
“Oh, fuck off,” Aegon yells at her twin. “As if she hasn’t told me about you becoming a damn near Rosby stableboy in your visits there—”
Princess Rhaenyra pushes him back to his half-brothers, the lot of the brown haired boys holding their brother of nine and ten, yet only his father manages to stare him down. On the other hand, her father had been gritting his teeth beside her, while mother held onto Jaehaerys’s forearm in warning. Alicent gives her twin a pointed look.
“Mind your words, Jaehaerys,” she says, and turns to look at Rhaenyra and her family. “Prince Aegon, would you mind explaining how you came into my granddaughter's rooms?”
Aegon licks his lips, and Jaehaera swallows. The story is longer than both of them would be able to admit. Despite the blood feud of the families, they had managed to talk last year at the ball for her and Jaehaerys five and tenth nameday. Even went on a joint ride with Morghul and Stormcloud, and before he left for Dragonstone, they decided on a day to meet again at the Kingswood. Such meetings repeated. They could only afford a day a moon, but those days were all so sweet. Did she do anything wrong? Yes, had been the objective answer, but she couldn’t care for it.
And here he is, in her very own home. They could hardly speak by their family, how could she not ask for a moment of privacy?
Rhaenyra rubs her temples. “Things like these happen at this age, Alicent,” she says. “You are stressing Jaehaera and Aegon both.”
Alicent furrows her brows. “Oh, these things do happen at this age, don’t they?” she asks, glaring. “We had known since we were her age how reputation matters in finding marriage. Your son is three years her elder and should know not to fiddle with a noble girl’s corset strings at the hour of the bat.”
Jaehaera feels some tears well up in her eyes. She doesn’t care for the embarrassment of being caught by now, but this makes her feel a fool. It had been nothing insidious, was it? They hadn’t even kissed until they celebrated the new year. She hadn’t lost her chastity, either. It is not just…
“He came into those rooms because your granddaughter let him in, Queen Alicent,” Prince Daemon says. “You should mind her doings before you lay judgement on my son’s.”
Jaehaera’s father had been standing quiet for the longest while, but with that he flares. “Men had been sent to the wall and got castrated for less, Uncle. If you don’t like my mother’s judgement, perhaps I should see to it?”
She holds onto her father’s arm. Please, let this stop.
Daemon eyes him dangerously. “See to your own misgivings,” he says. “Your own son laughs at your daughter's.”
“Father, please,” Jaehaera says, when Aegon the Elder tries and almost manages to escape her grip. Her mother and brother come quickly beside them. Her mother stands in front of her father and puts a hand on his chest, warning, while Jaehaerys comes to Jaehaera’s side, a wroth smirk thrown at their grand-uncle’s way.
“I am laughing at my sister’s choices, grand uncle. At least if it had been Viserys, he has my aunt’s pretty face,” he says, backing their father for once. They often argue, but at times they work together, they prove they’re made of the same cloth. “The Seven had laughed at Aegon giving him yours.”
Daemon starts stepping towards them. “You think you are a jester, you defected—”
Prince Jacaerys comes against his step-father to stop him from coming forward, the same ways her mother has to stop her father from doing the same. Her grandmother and Princess Rhaenyra had come to yell at one another, and even the kingsguard had come to get involved. Jaehaera’s body is reduced to shaking, fat tears fully sliding down her cheek.
“I’m sorry,” she says quietly between gentle sobs, the sleeves of a dishevelled dress wiping against her face again and again to try and catch all the tears. Only the family beside her hears, so loud were the voices in the room. Her brother and father turn around, with similarly apprehensive faces. “Please, please stop..”
Behind them, from the other side of the room, Aegon sees her in her pathetic state too. She never was the emotional type, and she had oft hoped he liked it for he had been none too different. The unusual petrification on his face makes her blood feel as if it is running dry, and it feels all gone when the dark amethyst of his eyes fall into what she could only call resigned acceptance.
Aegon, her Aegon, comes by his mother and her grandmother, holding Princess Rhaenyra’s arm. “It was my fault. We didn’t mean to… I took it too far,” he finally says. “I won’t come by her any more, Queen Alicent.”
It hurts more than anything else he could’ve said.
Her mother pushes their father aside to cloak her in an embrace. Jaehaera can only tremble and sob against her mother’s robe.
The room grows silent as Princess Rhaenyra and Queen Alicent agree to not tell The King or all else of the incident; so ill had been King Viserys, it had not been worth ailing her grandfather further with this issue when he had been on the brink of passing.
All is to be forgotten, and cast away. Jaehaera’s puffy eyes lift from her mother’s shoulder, and catch his gaze one last time before he leaves. He tries to mouth something, but is pushed by his family out of the room.
Jaehaera sinks against her mother again. Even if she banishes the days in the green Kingswood from her thoughts, the scent of the campfire charring wood black will live in her dreams.

The Dragon Queen
Jaehaera Targaryen x Aegon III Targaryen
***!!! Not Canon Compliant!!!***
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Chapter 19: Flashback PT.1
Golden beams of morning sunlight filter through the large open windows of the Meerenese throne room. The warmth of the day had failed to reach the skin of a certain Westerosi Prince as he stood at the foot of the great steps. Looking up at his cousin who was sitting stoically upon her golden seat.
The golden seat she had taken from the Great Master of Astapor. A spoil of war she had told Viserys when she had given him a brief tour of the Pyramid when he first arrived to her city. Back when her lilac eyes held fond warmth for her estranged cousin who had managed to get a genuine laugh out of her once or twice in the first hour of reuniting. Warmth that no longer resided in her pretty eyes. Not since their last shared supper, a mere few hours ago. No those lilac eyes looked as if they wanted curse to the deepest part of the seven hells.
Jaehaera sat with her emerald beast in her lap. The tiny dragon slept comfortably without a care in the world, snoring lightly.
“Why didn’t you state your King’s true intentions when you first arrived to Meeren?” Her steady voice contradicting the fury in her face.
Her alabaster hand resting on her Morghul’s back.
“If I had told you bluntly of my brothers wishes, you would have pushed me away.” Viserys says truthfully.
“So am I safe to assume that King Aegon’s talk of rebuilding torn bridges was just a farce to have me sail back to Westeros where you and your kin would have me surrender my dragons?”
Viserys eyes catch Ser Robert put his large hand on the hilt of his sword. As if daring Viserys to say the wrong thing.
“Aegon would never ask that of you…” he sighs “The only thing he has said about you hatching your dragon eggs was ‘if you can’t beat your adversary, than why not join them?’”
Jaehaera shares a glance with her sworn shield and then scoffs.
“I’m not his adversary” the Princess nostrils flair. “Returning to the Seven Kingdoms does not interest me.”
“Westeros is your home!” Viserys shot back “Your family doesn’t interest you?”
The Prince sees his cousin sit up straighter, anger still very much present on her being.
“If it wasn’t a straight command from your king; to sail to Essos, you’d have no interest in me Prince Viserys.” Jaehaera countered.
Viserys couldn’t think of anything to say because what Jaehaera said was wholeheartedly true. Viserys hadn’t wanted to branch out to her originally, him and Baela were vehemently against Aegon’s wishes to bring to her back into the fold. Hell he’d even suggested killing Jaehaera before she became an even bigger threat, when he had learned she had successfully hatched three baby dragons. So there he stood stunned straight out of anything believable to say. Though he would not lie to her. Viserys has grown to respect Jaehaera too much to ever lie to her face. Though his mind can’t help but race in wonder of how she could possibly know his beginning sentiments of her? He’d be a fool to ever say that to his cousins face. Her sworn shield would have had his severed head thrown into box and shipped it back to King’s Landing faster than Viserys could say ‘long live Aegon the second of his name’.
“I won’t deny that at first I was against Aegon’s desires of parleying with you…”
A cruel smile forms on the beauty’s full lips.
“Oh I know” she sneers down at him.
Making the prince shift his weight uncomfortably. Jaehaera sticks out her hand to Ser Robert, her knight hands a piece of parchment to her. The Green Princess begins to read what’s written on it.
“Regret and shame twirl through my gut to have ever suggested murdering our cousin” Lilac eyes locking with amethyst.
“Words you wrote to your king two moons ago.”
“You intercepted my letter?” He says incredulously. “You had no right!”
“The Princess did no such thing” the deep voice of Ser Robert cut in. “I did!”
“Bastard!” Viserys takes a brave step forward but moves no further when the Princess’s Unsullied point their sharp spears right at him.
“I’m her sworn shield!” The knight roared back, green eyes filled mistrust towards the younger man.
“The Princess possess a gentle heart, but I do not. Her safety is of the upmost importance to me! I swore a holy vow to my King to protect the Princess at all cost, and I’ll end what ever threatens her safety, permanently!” His words as clear as northern ice.
“I won’t deny my words cousin” the earnest in his voice oozing desperation.
“I said what I said but that is not desire anymore!”
“Hmm”
“I let fear wrongfully cloud my judgment. Knowing now who you truly are. I regret ever feeling that way towards you.”
“I can’t bring myself to believe you Viserys…” her voice quiet.
“When rumors spread through court of you hatching your dragon eggs with a blood sacrifice there was an uproar.” He begins solemnly,
“Houses that once supported your fathers cause began to whisper of sending aid to you here in Slaver’s Bay to fund your campaign. I know now you would have rejected them but at the time my siblings and I feared the worst.”
Jaehaera’s stone cold eyes glaring daggers at him.
“So you swaggered on in, into my city under the command of your kingly brother; with the possibility of ending my life if you deemed it fit?” She growled.
“No Aegon forbade me to act on such impulse!” Viserys defends his brothers honor.
“All Aegon wants is peace! He truly means no offense!” Viserys hears Ser Robert scoff.
“No offense” she drawls back mockingly.
“You dare conspire with your family after I whole heartedly accepted you into my home and offered you a seat at my table.” Lilac eyes glaring icily at her cousin.
Her Morghul’s stirs in his mothers lap until it awakens completely. It must have felt Jaehaera distress as it perched itself upon her shoulder. The little emerald beast began to flap its wings screeching loudly into the abyss.
“I’ve heard enough form you for today. Take the Prince Viserys back to his quarters.”
“Am I your prisoner?” His eyes filling with slight fear.
“Not yet.”
sorry to be the bearer of bad news but if you think aegon iii would have “healed from his trauma” with the daughter of his mother’s murderer then you’re delulu. the boy who wore black all his life? the boy that gave away jaehaera’s doll the first chance he got? the boy that was so discomforted by jaehaera’s presence that the maesters even noted how he was less discomforted by myrielle peake’s presence than jaehaera? it’s fine to have headcanons or whatever, but seriously. aegon iii would sooner ride a dragon than “heal” with the girl he was forced to marry.
Targaryens: Infamous End Inevitable.
This entire discourse on Jaehaera is so laughably absurd. I love my Green characters, but I couldn't care less what the show does with Jaehaera's arc. Team Black loves to remind everyone that Rhaenyra's lineage survived while Team Green's perished. That is true... BUT not only did her sons separate themselves from their mother's legacy to keep the Lords happy, but they did nothing to elevate her name in any way after their supposed 'win'. Their mother's 'usurper' was perceived as the legitimate ruler while she was branded a traitor. Rhaenyra's legacy was so badly tarnished that even after her lineage lived on, no Targaryen descendent carried her name, despite the House's tendency of reusing names.
For me, the Dance tells the story of how House Targaryen ruined itself. They put their most powerful assets (Dragons) all in at once... only to become extinct in just over a century, while the other noble houses had been ruling Westeros for millennia. It doesn't matter whose line survives - if this doesn't make sense to you, then you are not intelligent enough to engage with any form of media. I'm content with the way things ended because ultimately, no one is triumphant.
Even if Jaehaera lives, her line still loses since it was Viserys II's line that eventually took over. No matter who ends up reigning, HOUSE TARGARYEN WILL BE DEAD! The last survivor of the house (barring Jon Snow) will make sure its legacy would be one of infamy. It will linger in Westeros like the Mussolini's monument, forever infamous.
Even if the books attempt to alter Dany's storyline, it would be idiotic to expect a Targaryen restoration. To those who foolishly believe that the books will be rewritten and the Targaryens will once again sit on the Iron Throne, then I've got a bridge in Pyongyang I'm looking to unload.
Aegon the Third and Jaehaera Headcanons
🚩Some Angst🚩
Nothing happened on their wedding night. Aegon cried after everything that happened and Jaehaera stared blankly off into space
When they found out Jaehaera was with child she was fine and relatively unsurprised, he was terrified (pacing, nausea, hyperventilating, "will I be a good father????", etc)
Aegon cried tears of joy when he was handed his first child, Daeron, and Jaehaera smiled for the first time in years
Many are confused by their relationship as it is known that Aegon visits Jaehaera often but in public, they are very distant, this is just because neither likes public affection
Whenever their children have nightmares, they sleep in bed with Aegon and Jaehaera
Aegon knows when Jaehaera is upset because she "shuts down" and disassociates. He is one of the few who can tell and tries to bring her back by gently reminding her where they are
Similarly, Jaehaera is one of the few who can calm down Aegon when he has panic attacks. She always takes him away from others because of how he must be seen as a strong king. Her husband is left frustrated by these episodes but she reminds him that he's still just a man who mourns like everyone else
Aegon and Jaehaera very rarely talk about the war and what happened to them during that time. However, they are open with each other about what happened in that period. Aegon knows about her fear of ratcatchers, and Jaehaera knows about his fear of dragons. They both support the other and never cast blame
Aegon and Jaehaera frequent the weirwood in the Red Keep whenever they want to spend time together alone, additionally, they go to the Kingswood but they bring their children along on these particular trips
Aegon ordered that Jaehaera be made silver and golden hair accessories that look like butterflies because she is fond of them
Jaehaera likes to read beside Aegon even if he is not reading with her, she enjoys going into his office and sitting beside him with her book while he reads matters of the realm
Aegon loves Jaehaera's laugh and because of how rare it is, he savors hearing it
Jaehaera tends to reach out to Aegon with her hands more than words and her finger often wanders to intertwine with his
Aegon and Jaehaera realized they loved each other in different ways. Aegon realized it after he noticed Jaehaera did small things for him and eventually began to feel his heart beating faster around her. Jaehaera realized it when Aegon would spend hours of his time with her even when she never spoke and eventually wanted to go out of her way to be around him.
The Dragon Queen
Jaehaera Targaryen x Aegon iii Targaryen
***!!!NOT CANON COMPLIANT!!!***
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Chapter 17: Jaehaera
The familiar arched windows, the rosewood desk and the scented candles; Jaehaera felt like she couldn’t breathe. All of sudden she a girl of six again.
She doesn’t understand why she expects her papa to appear before her. As if Aegon the second of his name would limp out of the shadows and smile at her with his tragedy filled lilac eyes. Jaehaera begins to hear her mothers deranged babbles as well. ‘A son for a son. Our debt has been paid.’ The loss of sanity shined hideously on her mamas red stained eyes. Yet perhaps what’s haunting Jaehaera more is the sound of both her brothers sweet laughter ringing in her eardrums. Jaehaerys her darling knight and her precious baby brother Maelor. Sweet boys gone to soon.
Her nails begin to unconsciously dig into the skin of her palms. Being in the King’s personal study was too much for her tortured soul to handle.
“Cousin” a deep voice broke her thoughts.
“Pardon? Oh…Sorry…”
King Aegon gives a gentle smile and hands her a goblet wine.
“Viserys tells me you prefer sour wines over sweet. We’ve managed to acquire some Dornish Red just for you.”
Jaehaera manages to give a small smile, uttering her thankfulness quietly. The dread she feels about being in her fathers study- well she supposes her cousins study now; still hasn’t left her. The Princess brings the goblet to her nose taking a petite whiff. Now Jaehaera is no expert when it comes to wine, yet she understands that the more bitter the wine’s aroma is, the older the wine is. The older the wine, the better the taste (at least that’s what the Meerenese say). And this Dornish Wine smelled bitter.
Finally she takes a small sip and sighs happily, Dornish Red did not disappoint her at all.
Jaehaera feels like she could tongue kiss the Dornish Prince in congratulations for producing such an exquisite delicacy.
“I’m glad it is to your liking Princess.” Aegon says amused.
They’re sitting across from each other each trying their best to not stare at other for too long. They are cousins. They share the same color palette yet they look so different.
Now Jaehaera doesn’t remember what the late Queen Rhaenyra looked like. Hell even the Velaryon boys, Jaehaera couldn’t bring herself to remember what they had once looked like. However locked away in the deepest part of her memory the princess remembers something her Grandmama Alicent had commented about her cousin Aegon.
‘Daemons firstborn son has his mothers eyes’ the Queen had said out of nowhere. With a wistful longing shining in her rich brown irises.
It had made her Uncle Aemond scoff in disinterest, and mother Helaena smile in agreement. So perhaps what Queen Alicent said was true. Perhaps Aegon did have his mothers eyes.
“I’m sorry for Baela’s outburst earlier” he begins awkwardly. “My sister… she’s just very protective.”
Protective of him or protective of their power? She wants to say out loud. Bitterness flooding her veins. His sister had given her an attitude since the moment Jaehaera stepped foot into the parley. Jaehaera isn’t oblivious like her sweet and weak mother Helaena once was. She knew when people were attempting to belittle her.
Ten years in Essos escaping and weaving her way through constant danger had helped Jaehaera identify friends from foes. Regrettably for her cousin Baela, the woman chosen to offend her, thus making a foe out of Jaehaera. No the Green Princess will not tolerate disrespect. Not when across the Narrow Sea the name Jaehaera Targaryen means something.
Unlike her cousins, Jaehaera had to make something of herself or else she would have died. Not like them who inherited their power through the death of the last remaining green. Her father.
“Don’t apologize on behalf of your sister on my account.” Jaehaera forces herself to calm her voice from its rising anger. “I’m used to not being well received on first sight.”
She sees the man frown. Not completely sure what he was thinking. So she quickly spoke to make herself favorable to him.
“Besides… I too lost my temper.” She sets her goblet of wine down. The wine finally settling her nerves. “Bad habit to have really.”
The smile she receives from him is small but charming.
“You still have that small dimple” she blurts. Fuck the booze is working a little too well. The Green Princess thinks to herself. Completely embarrassed.
Aegon raises an ashy brow.
“Um… I mean…”
“Your brother used to call me cheese cheek” he says with a tiny laugh.
“Well given that you had called Harry an elf…”
Both laugh heartily at the memory until it’s taken over uncomfortably silence. Jaehaera opts to look at her hands.
Jaehaerys will forever be a sensitive topic of discussion for her. Ten years. Ten blasted years and her heart still longs for her darling knight. Her beloved twin. Not matter how hard she willed her mind to let him go, Jaehaera’s heart isn’t ready to let Jaehaerys rest in peace. They came into the world together. They belonged together. Yet her twin is gone, and she remains.
Tears build up in the corner of lilac eyes. Guilt swarms her chest at the thought of her dearest harry’s corpse rotting in the ground while she still breathes. No longer able to hold her tears in she lets them fall with a small sob.
The kings large hands find her pale slender one engulfing them in their warmth.
“What happened to your brothers…” He begins with earnest. “Gods what happened to all of us…” his breathing shaky “We deserved none of it. No matter what faction was in the right or in the wrong. Us remaining survivors, are reaping what are parents sowed.”
The Princess’s tears falls onto their joined hands.
Jaehaera unconsciously begins to rub his knuckles, in appreciation for his comfort.
“Then let us sow a new beginning your grace.”
Aegon brings her knuckles to lips giving them a chivalrous peck. Amethyst eyes gleaming with earnestness.
“Lets.”

Can we stop pointing fingers at people who want actual canon to be respected and not have Jaehaera live simply because that would be showing clear favoritism in a very non-canon way to a certain faction?
And let’s cut the bullshit of how “bad” TB fans are for not wanting Jaehaera to live, when I have to read thousands of TG comments on how Daenaera Velaryon should be completely written off because she is somehow “useless” and “irrelevant”.
Daenaera Velaryon represents a new hope for the Targaryen dynasty and mended the relationship between the Targaryens and the Velaryons. Her role in this story was actually important (unlike Jaehaera’s). She is a bright and pleasant young girl, a girl Aegon III truly liked and a girl who contributed a great lot in mending his broken heart.
GRRM clearly didn’t want Aegon III, after all he had been through, to be saddled with the unstable daughter of the man who robbed his mother of her throne and then killed her.
And let’s face it, House Velaryon actually deserved the honor of having a girl from their House become Queen.
They had been honorable, they had defended the rights of the rightful monarch and despite the small conflicts they had with the Targaryens, they never turned their backs on them (not even after Rhaenyra died).
The Greens committed high treason. The destruction of this faction is completely justified. Having Jaehaera live would have meant victory for Otto Hightower and the scheme that caused the lives of many people. It would have sent the message that usurpers can win. Not in GRRM’s world. Neither Maegor, nor Aegon the Usurper, nor Robert Baratheon had a win.

Aegon III/Jaehaera prompt/request: Jaehaera bonds with a new dragon (they're both teenagers in this) and Aegon tries to overcome his fear for her.
(also Aegon II is still alive because I said so)
“You don’t have to do this,” Jaehaera tells him. Her face is even but her palms are troubled, fingers fidgeting together as they enter the dragon pit.
“You will find your father doesn’t share that view, Haera.” Aegon answers. His own hands are clammy as well, his heart speeding up as the steel gates of the entrance close. It is a jest in some way, but a reminder to himself as well. Aegon the Elder had begrudgingly agreed to a betrothal between them after a long while of refusing profusely.
The many changing lords of the Small Council had been making cases for it for years on end, but it was only Jaehaera that had her father swayed. Her request was tender, one he wouldn’t forget, but her father has never been sweet on him as a good son. Trials and tribulations were due, he has known.
“If you can’t stand by my daughter's dragon, how could you stand by her?”
On one hand, he wanted to shout. He and his future good father shared a name but no favours with one another. But on the other hand, it was undoubtedly true that they share care for Jaehaera, and that he needs to stand with her in all aspects of life. His mother was a Queen, with a husband that had left her alone until she lost herself; Jaehaera will be Queen next after her father, and he mustn’t be a craven who cannot stand by her in tough times.
Jaehaera has been brave against her father, when he wanted to send Aegon to the Wall. Jaehaera had been brave against her father when she called for him to keep Viserys in the Keep when he came back, too. They were threats to her, he and his brother, as her father and her uncles were threats to Aegon’s mother.
Perhaps there was never a choice but them marrying, when her mercy has won over against a concern of another succession crisis. But his heart has chosen her at the same time, in spite of it all. Ironic and inevitable, all at the same time.
I want us to be different. I want there to be no tragedy.
Jaehaera sighs, and reaches out to hold his hand. “I am sorry. I never meant for it to hurt you. I didn't think I could claim another after Morghul, but…”
“You were happy for it,” Aegon says, not letting her finish. “You wanted it. I will not rob this of you.”
It is not as if she is never scared herself. Strange men with daggers about them had her weeping for her brother. When Viserys’s retrieval party came, gruff, burly, and roaming throughout the Keep loudly at night, she cried her panicked state into silence on his tunic.
They are a fearful duo, scared of fire and blood. But that never means they will falter at the sight of it.
Jaehaera gives one of her small, gentle smiles. “I love you.”
He whispers it back, and kisses the top of her forehead. Small, but she makes waves in him with one pip.
The voice rumbling is heard, and dragon keepers announce the entrance of a dragon. Aegon swallows, the dread setting in him. Often when he hears dragons, he feels breathless. He feels the heat of fire, and the yells return to his mind. He closes his eyes, leaning his forehead against Jaehaera’s. Calm, calm.
“Lykiri,” Jaehaera calls for the dragon, but it almost feels like it is for him. Be calm. The steps of the beast soon come closer, and Aegon does feel his lash line water. His heart is thundering in his very chest.
Jaehaera inhales loudly, with him. Her breaths guide him away from erraticness in the same way his lips guide hers in every stolen kiss of theirs. It even ends the same, with her nose brushing against his, telling them it is time for both of them to open their eyes.
Aegon holds her hand as he opens his eyes. Eyes of dark amethyst open to see his betrothed new dragon.
The dragon is a dusty, greyish-white in color, with dark blue eyes to match. If Aegon the Elder’s late dragon had been reminiscent of a scorching, destructive sun, Jaehaera’s dragon had been a dim moon in the night’s sky. A tear trails down his cheek; as the dragon croons for attention, he almost reminds him of Stormcloud.
Jaehaera wipes away the tear with one palm, and uses the other one to lift his hand. Carefully; her big eyes are requesting. Aegon swallows all his fear, looking at her crinkling violets. I will not be hurt; she will not be hurt. It’s okay.
He lifts his palm with hers, reaching out to the dragon’s snout. Their hands brush through the scales together, and the dragon coos, leaning against the touch. Aegon sighs aloud as their hands keep petting it. I will not live in fear, mother. I will not live in tragedy.
“He’s… good,” Aegon sniffles out, but it’s a nearby laugh, even as his heart is still too fast-paced. This dragon had been a newly sighted dragon from Dragonstone; he hadn’t thought it would be so calm. Jaehaera is petting his hands more than she pets her dragon, and he slowly wills himself to relax, trying to focus on it. “Have you decided its name yet?”
Jaehaera smiles at him. “Yes,” she says. “I may have doomed my former dragon, naming him nothing less than death,” she says softly, and closes her palm on his. “But now I’d like to wish the opposite, for this one. For me, and for us, too. His name is Glaeson.”
Life.
Aegon allows himself a smile. They will not live in fear of fire and blood. They’ll live, overcoming, together. The dragon chirps for attention, and while Jaehaera moves her hand to pet its chin, Aegon dares to scratch his scales lightly with his index finger.

real talk but jaehaera only has stans because they stan her womb. crazy how they’ll throw a fit about alicent and helaena being “poor, innocent victims” then say they want to subject jaehaera to the same situation. girlie was mentally unstable, she would not be a good mother or queen consort.
