Hi! I currently have a 10 year old male Jenday conure who has lived alone his whole life but I think could benefit from another bird in the house. I'm looking at an adorable 1yr old white female quaker but wasn't sure about the whole interspecies thing. What's your experience keeping conures/Quakers together? Obviously newt and toto love each other but how'd you go about introducing them?

As far as compatibility that is something that is 100% dependent on the individual birds and species traits aren't necessarily going to give you a guarantee. In my case I was able to locate a Quaker which had already been living with a conure, had an established history with a conure, and therefore would be more willing to integrate with another conure. And Newt is a conure which is highly sociable, already has experience with different bird species, has a strong learning history for conflict avoidance, and ample training to promote healthy communication skills between mixed species interactions. In general, highly social birds are more likely to cooperate with off species interactions but that's not always the case and you always have to be aware of things like overstimulation or the birds jumping in to interactions too fast and quickly becoming overwhelmed! In either case care needs to be taken to ensure both birds are taught how to respond to their unique body language cues that may differ between species to foster healthy interactions.

They are characterized by their green wings and tail contrasting a bright yellow and orange body. They are smart and easily tamable parrots, and are commonly kept as pets. They like to eat fruit and have lifespans recorded up to 30 years old. :3

Surprise re-release!

Long story short, I went to paint the Nanday and Jenday varieties on the previous template to find it had been corrupted. I wasn’t thrilled with the art anyway, so I took it as a golden opportunity to make the aratinga conure angels shine and finally release the custom features I had been promising.
