PLATONIC! J-SQUAD X CHILD READER (HEADCANNONS)
Warnings ⚠️: IMPLIED CHILD ABUSE, METIONS OF MURDER, ACTUAL MURDER, HYPNOTISM, THREATS, KIDNAPPING, POSSESIVE BEHAVIOR, IMPLIED USE OF FEAR TOXIN
Tumblr media
JEROME VALESKA:
Welp, good luck, my friend
- You would be one of his hostages who he was planning to kill. Patiently waiting your turn for your fun death. You had an abusive / less than kind family member with you at the time who had forced you to go there.
- When realizing that you two two were a little family unit, he decides to amuse himself a little.
- " Hey, hey you!" He would yell at one of his goons. " Tye them up to that uhhhh. . . That spinning wheel thing. And bring the kid over to me."
- Tying your family member up, Jerome places one of three throwing daggers in your hand( crowching down if you're small) while kind of just coaching you on how to throw them.
- What a surprise for him when not only do you do it without hesitation, but with a small smile on your face.
- That's when he goes, " Alright, change of plans, I like this kid." And immediately takes you under his wing
- There is never a dull moment with this man. There are plenty of bloody and horrific ones, sure. But never dull.
- Will make you kill the rest of your family members or do it himself if you can't. You're his now, and he doesn't need anyone trying to get in the way of that or distracting you.
- Sees himself as more of a mentor figure to you rather than an actual parent. But if you do end up calling him dad, he's not complaining.
- Takes you along with him for many of his usual, murderous antics. No matter how old you are, even if you are on the much younger side. "Best to teach them young," He would say.
- Praises you a lot whenever you decided to join in on the fun and always makes either his goons or his hostages cheer for you.
-If you're more on the socially anxious side, he'll try to put you in the spotlight less often and leave your killings as just some private family bonding time.
- This man CANNOT cook. He would burn whatever place he was staying out down to the ground if he tried.
- Gives you a lot of freedom to have fun and do whatever, but don't think that means you're allowed to leave or disobey him. You're still his protégé and need to listen to what he says.
- If you are on the younger side, that list of freedoms would be much shorter.
- He would want you around his vicinity or next to him and would make some of his goons keep an eye on you if he was busy with something.
- Lots of physical affection and inside jokes from this guy.
- All in all: Getting a child wasn't something Jerome had on his bucket list. But he's not really complaining.
Tumblr media
JERVIS TETCH:
- To say this man is obsessive is the understatement of the century
- Spots you in the crowd at one of his performances and chooses you as his willing participant
- You might as well forget your parents now, because he'll have already hypnotized them to walk into traffic or jump off a building.
- Unlike the other two, Jervis will expect for you to see him as your dad.
- Will plan extravagant teaparties with all your favorite teas and sweets. And if you're not a sweets kind of person, then he'll put out more savory stuff like sandwiches as soupes.
- Hope you like fancy outfits, because you'll be wearing a lot of them. But don't worry, he'll try to find some that you're comfortable in.
- Doesn't give you a whole lot of freedom. Especially if you're on the much younger side.
- He'll also just randomly picks you up and carry you around with him if you're small enough for him to do so.
- Will not hesitate to hypnotize you and tie you up if he feels it is necessary. So you nest behave
- Usually reads bedtime stories to you, no matter how old you are.
- In conclusion, this man is obsessive and delusional. So just sit back, relax, and let your new papa take care of you.
Tumblr media
JONATHAN CRANE:
-Well, this is rather unexpected. He never really saw himself taking care of a child
- He met you at Arkham: His cell next to yours. And you two would talk through the walls whenever a day was especially boring.
- After a while, he warmed up rather well to you. He starts to see you more as family in a way and immediately gets you out of your cell when a breakout in the asylum starts.
- Keeps you far away from your previous family members if you have any. He wouldn't kill them the first time per-say, just . . . Scare them away.
- The second time, he would be much less merciful. They had their chance and should have listened.
- He doesn't let you get too close to him when he's working on his projects in fear of you accidently getting hurt. But if you're an older teenager, he would ask if you would like to try and face your fears.
- He wouldn't force anything, though.
- You see him more as an older brother type figure rather than a parental one.
- Agian, if you are older, he doesn't really let you participate in his antics and usually lets you stay home if he trusts you. But will just bring you along to watch if you're much younger.
- A decent cook all things considered. Not the best by any means, but at least it's not a burt piece of charcoal.
- Will sit and talk with you whenever you need it. He's a pretty good listener.
- He can also get really protective a times, no matter what age you are, and will not hesitate to fear gas somebody.
- Not the best when it comes to physical affection. But will give you some if you want it.
- Although you entering his life was unexpected. Jonathan has found himself enjoying your company a lot more than he ever thought he would. It's probably the only thing good that ever came from being trapped in arkham.

Jerome and Jeremiah having a daughter would include...
Tumblr media
Jerome
He's over the moon to learn that he's having a girl, and he'll do anything to protect his "little princess"
Will spend hours just looking at his baby girl sleep in her crib
Always takes her to the park and out for ice cream
"Is that boy in your class still picking on you? Don't worry princess, I'll take take care of them" *winks*
Almost never yells (except when his criminal professional life is really stressing him out)
Will apologize over and over for losing his cool. Makes it up by making her favorite meal, or taking her out to do something fun like ice skating, mini-golf, paint-balling
Goes all out for holidays. Birthdays, Thanksgiving, Christmas, you name it. Jerome didn't have those things growing up, and he'll be damned if he doesn't make his child feel special
Will happily help with projects (especially arts and crafts). His daughter will likely get first place in the science fair for making something blow up
The type of dad that will definitely excited to take pictures of his daughter going to prom (and of course, she'll be going with friends, because Jerome will kill threaten any boy that tries to get close to his baby). He knows how boys are, and he refuses to let his daughter get her heart broken by a dumb teenager
"Aww you look so beautiful in that dress I stole got for you." "Dad, stop, you're embarrassing me!"
"Dad, I'm 17. When are you going to let me have a boyfriend?" "I already told you that you can't date until you're 25!"
Tumblr media
Jeremiah (pre-spray)
Acts like he doesn't care much about the baby
High key terrified that his little girl will be like his brother or mom
Over time, he warms up to his child, but he's still a very distant father
"Daddy, do you want to do a puzzle with me?" "My dear, I'm a bit busy with work. Ecco, can you play with her?"
Homeschools the kid in his bunker, because he's too paranoid to let them out
Jeremiah will absolutely insist on his daughter going to university, because education is very important to him
Will help with homework
It's only when something drastic happens (such as his daughter getting injured at school or kidnapped for ransom) that he starts caring more for his baby
"Sweetheart, I know I wasn't the best father when you were growing up. I really do love you. I'm sorry"
He tries to make an effort to spend more time with his daughter, like watching a movie with her or taking her out to eat
Isn't super strict with dating, but he will insist that the boy his daughter is interested in meets up with him first
Tumblr media
Jeremiah (post-spray)
It would be a stretch to say that he loves his child. It's more like, in his own very twisted way, he cares about his daughter, but only if she's useful
Is a more hands on father than (pre-spray) Jeremiah. But it's not a good thing because he is just trying to gauge how skilled and intelligent his daughter is
He will absolutely want to know what his daughter's skills are. Is she good at math and science like him? Is she a poet? Is she drawn more to the arts?
Any skill that she has will be utilized for his personal gain
If she doesn't have any talents? She better stay out of his way and not cause any problems
He doesn't care as much about getting an education. After all, why use those brains for college when you can use your intelligence for helping him do crime?
Will make his daughter pull all nighters (because he needs help figuring out how to destroy buildings around Gotham)
"Dad, can I go to sleep now? It's 4 AM." "You can sleep when I successfully take over Gotham."
If a boy likes her, he'll kidnap meet the boy. "You have two choices. Either follow me as your leader, or you die."
If the boy agrees to follow Jeremiah, he will dig up some dirt on the boy's family, or embezzle them for money
"Dad! Please don't hurt him! I love him!" "Sweetheart, anyone who's around my family needs to declare their undying loyalty to me"

The Concept of Forgiveness in the Bad
Let me start off that I don't usually make posts on Tumblr (more of a lurker), but this is an idea that I had in my head and that I thought was kind of interesting. This is quite a long post, so forgive me!
I finished watching Hazbin Hotel (a solid series; not 10/10, but I'd say a solid 8/10). The ending definitely felt way too rushed, but that's another post for another time. Let's talk about Charlie.
As we all know, Charlie is the Princess of Hell and heir to the throne. She is *literally* the kindest person in Hell. She wants to see the good in everyone and believes that everyone deserves a second chance. She is big on mercy.
*This might be a little spoilery if you haven't watched the last two episodes of HH, so read at your leisure*
When Vaggie and Lute fight, Vaggie eventually wins, but spares Lute, albeit talking to her more harshly than when Charlie tells Lucifer in their fight with Adam that he's had enough. Lucifer cockily says "How's mercy, bitch?"
In her own way, I think Charlie was still holding on to hope that Adam and Lute would come around in the future now that they had (hopefully) learned their lesson. Adam died (and a lot theorize he could go to Hell, but I'm 50/50 on that; it depends on that story arc), and Lute went back to Heaven.
So, to recap, Charlie, despite fighting with her friends by her side, was still apologetic during that fight and spared mercy to the one angel who had killed Sir Pentious and, at the time to Charlie, Alastor as well. But she showed Adam mercy.
From my own understanding and the few shows I watch, there are not a lot of characters where someone harbors this amount of kindness in them. And to me it's interesting because it really does beg the question: how far does this forgiveness and mercy go? But watching the last two episodes and reminiscing about the season as a whole, it made me think of an anime I used to watch in the early 2000s, specifically 2005. And that anime was Ginga Densetsu Weed (fully on YouTube, by the way).
Now, forgive me while I go on a bit of a tangent but make a connection here.
In the show, the main character is named Weed (given to him by a friend so he wouldn't feel alone), and his father is the protector of the lands and keeps the idea of Paradise, or that all dogs get along. That is until two certain (I think) Great Danes, who are brothers, start to terrorize and destroy any hope of Paradise for the dogs. One of the Great Danes, Hougen, kills a myriad of comrades and kidnaps Weed's father for the majority of the story. Throughout the season Weed encounters others working for Hougen who try to kill him. In one particular case this pair of Doberman brothers. Weed lets them go once after a quick scuffle, but one of Weed's confidants (Jerome) goes against Weed and kills them, saying they would have come back anyway. Filled with horror, Weed sends Jerome away. Others in the pack say Weed is too soft and that this is life and you need to fight to survive. Despite this, Jerome harbored no ill feelings towards Weed and instead worked from afar to keep Weed safe. Over time others from Hougen's pack try to attack Weed's group, but are shown mercy and actually do change.
In the final episode, it's the huge showdown between Weed and Hougen. Weed's father was found and recovered and watches. Weed almost kills Hougen, but he survives. Weed's father tells him to kill Hougen, but Weed can't when he sees Hougen struggling to even stand up. Weed's father says that he'll do it instead as justice for all that were killed. Weed however tells his dad no and shoves him aside. His group reminds Weed of all the evil Hougen has done, but Weed says that killing Hougen would make them just as bad as Hougen is. Eventually, the dude gets killed by a strike of lightning, but Weed says that kindness will definitely get to them (those with a hardened heart).
Okay, so why do I bring this up?
Both Charlie and Weed have this extreme kindness in them and want to spread that kindness to others.
Just like Charlie, who feels so bad for having simple troubled thoughts, says she's "just as bad as the worst overlord", Weed tells the group that killing Hougen, a dog who killed millions of other dogs and kidnapped his own father, would make them just as bad as him.
I feel that when Alastor inevitably betrays the group for his own agenda, things will go awry and there will of course be a huge fight in a case where Alastor is defeated, but Charlie will show him mercy and kindness and ask him to come back to the hotel because that's the kind of person she is. And truthfully, throughout the first season, Alastor did help Charlie along the way, whether genuine or not, so she does see that as a reason to show mercy (when that time comes).
Now I personally LOVE Alastor as a character. I love complex characters whose morals are grey and there's just so much to learn about them. So I hope when he does become the main villain he isn't killed, but that's just a personal gripe I would have.
That's my ramble for now. Maybe I'll make another post about my thoughts on Hazbin.
Thank you for coming to my TED Talk!

By Thom Hartmann
Back in 1967, a friend of mine and I hitchhiked from East Lansing, Michigan to San Francisco to spend the summer in Haight-Ashbury. One ride dropped us off in Sparks, Nevada, and within minutes of putting our thumbs out a city police car stopped and arrested us for vagrancy.
The cop, a young guy with an oversized mustache who was apologetic for the city’s policy, drove us to the desert a mile or so beyond the edge of town, where we hitchhiked standing by a distressing light-post covered with graffiti reading “39 hours without a ride,” “going on our third day,” and “anybody got any water?”
Vagrancy laws were so 20th century.
Today, the US Supreme Court heard a case involving efforts by the City of Grants Pass, Oregon to keep homeless people off its streets and out of its parks and other public property. The city had tried a number of things when the problem began to explode in the last year of the Trump administration, as The Oregonian newspaper notes:
“They discussed putting them in their old jail, creating an unwanted list, posting signs at the city border or driving people out of town... Currently, officers patrol the city nearly every day, Johnson said, handing out [$295] citations to people who are camping or sleeping on public property or for having too many belongings with them.”
The explosion in housing costs has triggered two crises: homelessness and inflation. The former is harming the livability of our cities and towns, and the Fed’s reaction to the latter threatens an incumbency-destroying recession just as we head into what will almost certainly be the most important election in American history.
The problem with housing inflation is so severe today that without it the nation’s overall core CPI inflation rate would be in the neighborhood of Fed Chairman Jerome Powell’s 2% goal.
Tumblr media
Graphic based on BLM data and interpretation by The Financial Times
Both homelessness and today’s inflation are the result of America — unlike many other countries — allowing housing to become a commodity that can be traded and speculated in by financial markets and overseas investors.
Forty-three years into America’s Reaganomics experiment, homelessness has gone from a problem to a crisis. Rarely, though, do you hear that Wall Street — a prime beneficiary of Reagan’s deregulation campaign — is helping cause it.
32% seems to be the magic threshold, according to research funded by the real estate listing company Zillow. When neighborhoods hit rent rates in excess of 32% of neighborhood income, homelessness explodes.
And we’re seeing it play out right in front of us in cities across America because a handful of Wall Street billionaires want to make a killing.
It wasn’t always this way in America.
Housing prices have spun out of control since my dad bought his house in 1957 when I was six years old. He got a Veteran’s Administration-subsidized loan and picked up the brand-new 3-bedroom-1-bath ranch house my 3 brothers and I grew up in, in suburban south Lansing, Michigan. It cost him $13,000, which was about twice what he made every year working a good union job in a tool-and-die shop.
When my dad bought his home in the 1950s the median price of a single-family house was 2.2 times the median American family income. Today, the Fed says, the median house sells for $479,500 while the median American personal income is $41,000 — a ratio of more than ten-to-one between housing costs and annual income.
As the Zillow study notes:
“Across the country, the rent burden already exceeds the 32% [of median income] threshold in 100 of the 386 markets included in this analysis….”
And wherever housing prices become more than three times annual income, homelessness stalks like the grim reaper.
We’re told that America’s cities have seen this increase in housing costs since the 1950s in some part because of the growing wealth and population of this country. There were, after all, 168 million people in the US the year my dad bought his house; today there are 330 million.
And it’s true that we haven’t been building enough new housing, particularly low-income housing, as 43 years of neoliberal Reaganomics have driven down wages and income for working-class people relative to all of their expenses while stopping the construction of virtually any new subsidized low-income housing.
But that’s not the only, or even the main dynamic, driving housing prices into the stratosphere — and, as a consequence, the crisis in homelessness — over the past decade. You can thank speculation for much of that.
As the Zillow-funded study noted:
“This research demonstrates that the homeless population climbs faster when rent affordability — the share of income people spend on rent — crosses certain thresholds. In many areas beyond those thresholds, even modest rent increases can push thousands more Americans into homelessness.”
So how did we get here?
It started with a wave of foreign buyers over the past 30 years (particularly from China, Canada, Mexico, India and Colombia) who, in just the one single year of 2020, picked up over 154,000 homes as their way of parking money in America. Which is part of why there are over 20 times more empty houses in America than there are homeless people.
As Marketwatch noted in a 2015 article titled “The Danger of Foreign Buyers Gobbling Up American Homes”:
“Unusual high appreciation of the aforementioned urban centers is due to the ever growing influx of foreign buyers — mostly wealthy Chinese — who view American residential real estate as the safest investment commodity. … According to a National Realtors Association survey, the Chinese spent $22 billion on U.S. housing in 12 months through March 2014…. [Other foreign buyers primarily include] Canadians, British, Indians and Mexicans.”
But foreign investment has been down for the past few years; what’s taken over and is really driving home prices today are massive, multi-billion-dollar US-based funds that sweep into neighborhoods and buy everything available, bidding against families and driving up housing prices.
As noted in a Wall Street Journal article titled “Meet Your New Landlord: Wall Street,” in just one suburb (Spring Hill) of Nashville, “In all of Spring Hill, four firms … own nearly 700 houses … [which] amounts to about 5% of all the houses in town.”
This is the tiniest tip of the iceberg.
“On the first Tuesday of each month,” notes the Journal article about a similar phenomenon in Atlanta, investors “toted duffels stuffed with millions of dollars in cashier’s checks made out in various denominations so they wouldn’t have to interrupt their buying spree with trips to the bank…”
The same thing is happening in cities and suburbs all across America; the investment goliaths use finely-tuned computer algorithms to sniff out houses they can turn into rental properties, making over-market and unbeatable cash bids often within minutes of a house hitting the market.
After stripping neighborhoods of homes families can buy, they then begin raising rents as high as the market will bear.
In the Nashville suburb of Spring Hill, for example, the vice-mayor, Bruce Hull, told the Journal you used to be able to rent “a three bedroom, two bath house for $1,000 a month.” Today, the Journal notes:
“The average rent for 148 single-family homes in Spring Hill owned by the big four [Wall Street investor] landlords was about $1,773 a month…”
Ryan Dezember, in his book Underwater: How Our American Dream of Homeownership Became a Nightmare, describes the story of a family trying to buy a home in Phoenix. Every time they entered a bid, they were outbid instantly, the price rising over and over, until finally the family’s father threw in the towel.
“Jacobs was bewildered,” writes Dezember. “Who was this aggressive bidder?”
Turns out it was Blackstone Group, now the world’s largest real estate investor. At the time they were buying $150 million worth of American houses every week, trying to spend over $10 billion. And that’s just a drop in the overall bucket.
In 2018, corporations bought 1 out of every 10 homes sold in America, according to Dezember, noting that, “Between 2006 and 2016, when the homeownership rate fell to its lowest level in fifty years, the number of renters grew by about a quarter.”
This all really took off around a decade ago, when Morgan Stanley published a 2011 report titled “The Rentership Society,” arguing that — in the wake of the 2008 Bush Housing Crash — snapping up houses and renting them back to people who otherwise would have wanted to buy them could be the newest and hottest investment opportunity for Wall Street’s billionaires and their funds.
Turns out, Morgan Stanley was right. Warren Buffett, KKR, and The Carlyle Group have all jumped into residential real estate, along with hundreds of smaller investment groups, and the National Home Rental Council has emerged as the industry’s premier lobbying group, working to block rent control legislation and other efforts to regulate the industry.
As John Husing, the owner of Economics and Politics Inc., told The Tennessean newspaper:
“What you have are neighborhoods that are essentially unregulated apartment houses. It could be disastrous for the city.”
Meanwhile, as unionization levels here remain among the lowest in the developed world, Reagan’s ongoing war on working people continues to wipe out America’s families.
At the same time that housing prices, both to purchase and to rent, are being driven through the roof by foreign and Wall Street investors, a survey published by NPR, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, and the Harvard TH Chan School of Public Health found that American families are in crisis.
Their study found:
— “Thirty-eight percent (38%) of [all] households across the nation report facing serious financial problems in the previous few months.
— “There is a sharp income divide in serious financial problems, as 59% of those with annual incomes below $50,000 report facing serious financial problems in the past few months, compared with 18% of households with annual incomes of $50,000 or more.
— “These serious financial problems are cited despite 67% of households reporting that in the past few months, they have received financial assistance from the government.
— “Another significant problem for many U.S. households is losing their savings during the COVID-19 outbreak. Nineteen percent (19%) of U.S. households report losing all of their savings during the COVID-19 outbreak and not currently having any savings to fall back on.
— “At the time the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) eviction ban expired, 27% of renters nationally reported serious problems paying their rent in the past few months.”
These are not separate issues, and they are driving an explosion in homelessness.
The Zillow study found similarly damning data:
— “Communities where people spend more than 32% of their income on rent can expect a more rapid increase in homelessness.
— “Income growth has not kept pace with rents, leading to an affordability crunch with cascading effects that, for people on the bottom economic rung, increases the risk of homelessness.
— “The areas that are most vulnerable to rising rents, unaffordability, and poverty hold 15% of the U.S. population — and 47% of people experiencing homelessness.”
The Zillow study makes grim reading and is worth checking out. In community after community, when rent prices exceeded 32% of median household income, homelessness exploded. It’s measurable, predictable, and is destroying what’s left of the American working class, particularly minorities.
The loss of affordable homes also locks otherwise middle-class families out of the traditional way wealth is accumulated — through homeownership: Over 61% of all American middle-income family wealth is their home’s equity. And as families are priced out of ownership and forced to rent, they become more vulnerable to long-term economic struggles and homelessness.
Housing is one of the primary essentials of life. Nobody in America should be without it, and for society to work, housing costs must track incomes in a way that makes housing both available and affordable. This requires government intervention in the so-called “free market.”
— Last year, Canada banned most foreign buyers from buying residential property as a way of controlling their housing inflation.
— New Zealand similarly passed its no-foreigners law (except for Singaporeans and Australians) in 2018.
— Thailand requires a minimum investment of $1.2 million and the equivalent of a green card.
— Greece bans most non-EU citizens from buying real estate in most of the country.
— To buy residential housing in Denmark, it must be your primary residence and you must have lived in the country for at least 5 years.
— Vietnam, Austria, Hungary, and Cyprus also heavily restrict who can buy residential property, where, and under what terms.
This isn’t rocket science; the problem could be easily fixed by Congress if there was a genuine willingness to protect our real estate market from the vultures who’ve been circling it for years.
Unfortunately, when Clarence Thomas was the deciding vote to allow billionaires and hedge funds to legally bribe members of Congress in Citizens United, he and his four fellow Republicans opened the floodgates to “contributions” and “gifts” from foreign and Wall Street interests to pay off legislators to ignore the problem.
Because there’s no lobbying group for the interests of average homeowners or the homeless, it’s up to us to raise hell with our elected officials. The number for the Congressional switchboard is 202-224-3121.
If ever there was a time to solve this problem — and regulate corporate and foreign investment in American single-family housing — it’s now.

Will even go straight for his kid(s)
That doesn’t mean they won’t end up with some new shiny toy, or other obviously stolen item of desire

He is very awkward around them.

Oof.
There are so many thoughts here…
His love evolves into possession, an obsession to protect them.
If they had any freedoms before, they’re gone now. The kid is under constant surveillance. Always guarded.
They’re too precious to lose, too precious to be on their own
They’d never understand the complexities of what he’s trying to do for them. So, he HAD to lock them away.
Mother Gothel Mode ACTIVATE
“How is my flower today Hm? I brought you another book to add to your collection.”
ON THE FLIP SIDE
He could care less what happens to them.
It’s like a switch was flipped. He doesn’t feel a thing toward the child.
Regardless on how much they beg and plead that they need him, or love him
Unless, they had some special talent, or skill that he can exploit.
Then, he guesses you can stay, but stay out of his way until he needs you.
Oh, you don’t? You’re worthless to him and his plans, you could be canon fodder for all he cares.

Daddy Issues - E.N
Summary: Y/n had a terrible childhood growing up. We won't go too into it, but she just really lacked in loving parents. Because of this, she just wanted someone to love her and treat her right, never getting love growing up. She also had a hard time trusting men. Well, until Edward Nygma that is. She fell hard for him and she knew it. Y/n loved everything about him, the way he talked to her, the way he looked, spoke, acted, smelled, everything. But she could never work up the courage to admit her love. And she didn't need to. Because he already knew. She was just too oblivious to see it. And that's why he loved to tease her. Until one day, he decided that teasing wasn't enough... (Takes place in Season 3 but Edward has long hair in this cuz I said so <3) Also, I know Jerome didn't hang out with these people and he was in Arkham in season 3, but I haven't included him in a fanfic yet so he's gonna be in this one. (P.S: I had a lot of fun writing this, adding in very funny comedic bits and more characters because I want to experiment with adding more characters instead of focusing on just two, yk? So I'm sorry if this sucks...)
Content Warning: Daddy issues, daddy kink, sir kink, weed, slight blood, knife, alcohol, flirting back and forth, explicit language, sexual themes, suggestive dialogue, fluff, steamy fluff? Idk how to explain lol you'll see. Y/n is 25 and Ed is 30 in this. Jerome and y/n are besties in this and I love it. (Edward knows about y/n's daddy issues) Possible part 2 if this is received well.

READ BELOW CUT
It was normal for Barbara Kean to keep her doors to her club open for her friends. We'll not necessarily open. Her friends had keys to the club, so all they needed to do was unlock the door, walk in, and lock it behind them. Not only was it a club, but on the upper floor was a whole apartment like area. Instead of walls separating it from the club, it was an iron railing, allowing you to look down on the club. There was a spiral staircase on each side of the club, leading up to the next floor. This is usually where her friends would hang out. Most of her friends just had to tell her if they were coming over. All except for one, that is.
Y/f/n.
Y/n grew up on the streets of Gotham, not having a great family life. Her mother had died when she was very young and her dad had no love for his own daughter. One day, he left his daughter when she was 13 and never came back. That's when she started living on the streets. Barbara met her through Selina Kyle. She told Barbara that y/n helped her survive on the streets and Barbara appreciated y/n for that. Once they met, the two became very close. Now, y/n was free to go into Barbara's club whenever, sometimes even climbing through the windows. Who do you think taught Selina all of that? Though, don't think that y/n was a criminal. She hated stealing. Selina knew this, which is why she would usually help get food for y/n. But now, Barbara was helping too. Barbara, being friends with a lot of 'super criminals' was looked at as odd for being friends with a sweet kind girl like y/n. But, when everyone met her, they saw why. Ever since then, y/n became sort of an 'honorary' member of the 'group'. It was almost comical really, she would sometimes end up walking in on a meeting about a heist or a murder plot and she'd pretend not to hear and just get some cereal and watch a movie. Which is exactly what y/n had planned to do that day. Well, mainly just go to Barbara's. She wasn't sure if she wanted to eat cereal.
With a large leap, she launched herself onto the balcony that was attached to Barbara's club. She stood up fully, stretching out her back as she walked into the club. She had headphones on, listening to her music as she walked in, not paying attention to who else might be in the room. She nodded her head back and forth, tapping her hip to the rhythm as she walked across the floor, looking at the music that played on her phone. The music playing through her headphones was so loud that anyone around her could definitely hear it too. Eventually, she looked up and her eyes got wide as she saw people sitting at the bar. There was Oswald, which she had slowly become friends with, Barbara of course, Victor Zsasz who surprised her by being pretty chill when he wasn't killing people, Jerome Valeska who shockingly enjoyed y/n's company and did his best not to talk about 'violent' things around her. What was even more surprising is that y/n had become very good friends with the crazy clown. But, the only person that caused y/n to blush was..
Edward Nygma.
She shivered, looking at everyone stare at her. Barbara was saying something towards her, muffled by the music. However, y/n still flustered from Edward being there caused her to not notice. She gulped, waving awkwardly to everyone causing Barbara to facepalm. She turned towards the people at the bar, saying something to them before she walked over to y/n. She waved in front of y/n's face, snapping her fingers. Y/n flinched, shaking her head. Clearing her throat, she took the headphones off and put them around her neck, the music still playing. Barbara was the only person y/n wasn't shy around. It wasn't like she wasn't talkative, but she got a little shy every now and then. Especially around such devious criminals.
"H-Hi..." She said awkwardly.
"Hey honey, you ok? I didn't expect you to come over." She commented.
"Yeah, well, it's been raining pretty hard outside lately. I figured it would be ok if I came in here for a bit?" She said.
"Oh shit yeah, you're soaking wet and shivering! Of course that's ok honey. Do you want to take a hot shower too?" She asked, concerned for her well-being.
Everyone at the bar looked at the balcony outside through the glass door. Wind was blowing heavily and rain was pouring down by the gallons. They felt cold just looking at it.
"That would be n-n-nice. I th-think I left a change of clothes here too. I'll ch-change into th-those after I shower." She said, shivering as she walked up the staircase, leaving dribbles of water on the floor behind her.
Barbara sighed to herself, shaking her head. She walked back behind the bar, taking a sip of her wine. Jerome cackled in his usual creepy way, even though he had no intention of being creepy. Barbara tilted her head and raised an eyebrow.
"What?" She asked.
"It's just hilarious. Every time she sees us she freezes up and is surprised every single time. It never gets old." He laughed.
"Yeah, well, I don't think we're the ones making her get like that." Oswald said, looking at Edward.
"Hm? Oh, sorry were you talking to me? All I heard was this annoying bird squawking." Edward replied dully.
Jerome cackled loudly and Victor chuckled next to him, taking a sip of his Shirley Temple. Yes, this man asked for a Shirley Temple at a bar. He loved them and he was not ashamed of it. He grabbed the maraschino cherry and bit it, throwing the stem away.
"You aren't gonna tie it in a knot with your tongue?" Oswald joked in his usual snarky tone.
"Shut up." He grumbled.
"I just think it's funny that she thought we we're having an 'evil meeting' when we're really just having drinks together. How that girl survived on the streets is beyond me. She's too sweet for this city" Barbara sighed.
"That's for damn sure." Jerome added.
The group started to chat again, discussing every day things. They talked about things that ranged from the weather all the way toward politics. If random people on the streets saw them talking at a bar like this, they would think they were plotting a murder and run away screaming. And while they did do that sometimes, they still were friends and liked to have normal conversations as well. It wasn't that strange to think about, really. After around 30 minutes went by, Barbara looked up towards the balcony. Y/n was taking a while.
"She's taking a long time..." She said.
"You think she slipped and fell in the shower?" Jerome laughed, finding it funny but also slightly worried as well.
"No. Well...maybe..." Barbara's eyes widened.
As if right on cue, y/n came down the spiral staircase, hand gripped tight on the railing as they came down. Her change of clothes was a pair of soft pink sweatpants, a pair of fluffy socks, and a black shirt that was one size too big for her. On the shirt was a picture of Jesse Pinkman from Breaking Bad with the word 'babygirl' underneath it and a pink bow on his head. (pls that's so real) Her headphones were once again over her ears and her hair was completely dry, suggesting that she took a while so she could blow dry her hair. Turning to everyone she waved, giving a very wide and cheesy smile.
"Is that my shirt?" Barbara asked.
Everyone looked at the shirt and Jerome burst out in laughter, no surprise. Victor smirked in amusement. Oswald just sipped his martini with an eyebrow raised. However, Edward kept his eyes on y/n, taking in her features with his dull and tired eyes. Y/n took off her headphones.
"No actually, it's MY shirt that YOU keep stealing. Jesse is MY babygirl. Keep your paws off my husband." Y/n stated, kissing two of her fingers and placing them on Jesse's lips.
"Your husband?" Barbara asked, placing a hand on her hip.
Jerome got up from his seat, walking 'sophisticatedly' towards y/n. He placed an arm around their shoulders. Clearing his throat, he held his hand out to everyone, as if making an announcement.
"Lady and gentlemen, this...meth addict and drug dealer is y/n's husband. I was there when it happened. I practically gave her away." He stated.
Oswald chuckled and took another sip of his martini.
"Wait, what? What does that even mean?" He asked.
Edward stood up from his spot, walking over toward the opposite side of the bar so he could face y/n and Jerome. He leaned back, propping his arm up on the counter, glass of scotch in hand. He found the conversation interesting. Y/n blushed when she saw him look at her and wink.
"Well, y/n would you like to explain? You are the wife after all." He said.
"Y-Yes, thank you Jerome. Well, one night when I was staying over here, I decided to rewatch Breaking Bad for the....what is it? 12th time?" She asked Jerome.
He held up both of his hands, counting each finger. Once he was done, he bent over and pretended to count his toes. He rubbed his chin, tapping his foot on the ground.
"Carry the one, divide the 2, move the decimal...14th actually."
"Yes, 14th time. Well, Jerome was watching it with me. And I , who was totally not sleep deprived-"
"Yeah, and I was definitely not high." Jerome added, crossing his arms over his chest in defense.
Everyone collectively rolled their eyes. Even right now he smelled like weed.
"Yes, I who was not sleep deprived looked at Jerome and said... 'I wanna marry that little bitch.' and pointed to Jesse on the tv." She said confidently.
"And as her friend who was not high, well, naturally I supported the decision! So I helped y/n write her vows and wham bam thank you ma'am. Married. Case closed. She kissed him and everything." He finished the story.
Edward tilted his head down, looking at them through his glasses. Chuckling he took a sip of his scotch and placed it back on the counter.
"Kissed him? Y/n, did you kiss the TV?" He asked, staring at her.
"Um..." She mumbled.
"My client would prefer not to comment on that. And if you saw any tissues on the ground near the TV it was NOT because I was crying. I do NOT cry at weddings." He said.
"Yeah, he does NOT cry at weddings." She repeated.
The room got real silent, the only sound being the wind and rain outside. Jerome coughed very loudly and exaggeratedly, breaking the silence.
"You guys are fucking weird." Barbara said.
"Thank you!" Jerome said.
"Alright, I gotta get going. I have a hit I have to do tonight. Client wants it to be real bloody. Like guts everywhere and bones broken an-" Victor looked up.
Jerome had covered y/n's ears, glaring at him. His scarred face making him look like a muppet as he frowned. Victor chuckled.
"Uh, I mean. I gotta run errands. Anyways, I'll see you all soon. Nice seeing you y/n. Good luck with your uh, marriage. He's a real catch." He winked, walking up to her and punching her lightly on the shoulder before leaving.
"I must be going as well. Pity. I was truly enjoying this conversation. Very riveting hearing your drug induced wedding. But, alas, I am required else where." He said.
Standing up, he gave Barbara a hug and also gave y/n one. With his limp, he grabbed his cane and left the building as well. Barbara shrugged.
"Anyone else leaving?" She asked.
"I was hoping I could stay here for the night. Is that ok Barbie?" Y/n asked, calling her friend by her nickname for her.
"You already know the answer to that, hun." She winked.
"Oh! Can I stay too!" Jerome asked, jumping up and down.
"Ugh, you can't stay the night. But you can hang out longer if you want."
"Fair enough."
"What about you Ed, you staying too? I've got to go out and do some business about the club. Make sure our supplies are still good and coming in on time."
He shrugged, sipping his scotch. Truthfully, he didn't know if he wanted to stay longer. But, then he looked at y/n and smiled. She blushed instantly. That's when he made up his mind.
"Sure, why not. I've got nothing else to do."
"Oh boo, ruining our fun." Jerome fake pouted.
"You mean interrupt your Breaking Bad session?"
"Maybe..." Y/n and Jerome said in unison.
"Alright, well you kids have fun. Mom has to go out and provide for the family. Y/n sweetie, remember don't eat too much sugar tonight or you won't sleep." She joked, grabbing her coat and purse as she walked out.
"Oh whatever." Y/n rolled her eyes.
"We can still eat sugar, right?" Jerome asked, leaning in her ear.
"Fuck yeah." She said, fist bumping him.
"Oh joy, I get to hang around a lunatic and a stray street girl hyped up on sugar. Lucky me." He groaned, following them upstairs.
Y/n and Jerome had already ran up the stairs completely. Jerome sat down on the couch, getting Netflix hooked up so they could watch Breaking Bad. The two of them had only started rewatching the show 3 days ago and were already starting season 3. They really did love the show, and Jerome honestly found Jesse Pinkman to be quite attractive as well. So, the two friends would never admit it, but they shared Jesse as a husband. Edward looked towards the kitchen and saw that y/n was looking through the fridge with her headphones on. He smirked, noticing how she was swaying to the beat of whatever she was listening to. He looked back towards Jerome and they made eye contact. Jerome, along with everyone in the group, knew how y/n felt about Edward. And Jerome knew a lot about his friend, he didn't just know that she liked Edward, he knew exactly why she liked Edward. He knew what she liked about him.
"Y/n's been talking about you a lot man." Jerome said.
"Hm, really? Interesting." He said, hanging up his coat on the coat rack along with his hat.
"Yeah, won't shut up about you."
Edward hummed, sitting down in the armchair. He clenched and unclenched his fists, his knuckles sore from getting in a fight with someone earlier. He groaned softly.
"Look, I'm telling you this because I know y/n needs a push. Y/n plans on coming here again tomorrow night, since the club is going to be open to the public. You should go too." He said, queuing up the episode.
Edward nodded.
"Alright, I will."
"Cool, I know she'll be surprised, but she'll still love to see you."
Jerome looked over the couch, seeing that y/n was still in the kitchen. He stretched out and yawned, reaching into his pocket and pulling out a tube of red lipstick. He applied it to his lips, puckering them and making a kissy face to Edward. Ed just rolled his eyes in return. Jerome couldn't be serious for more than a minute at a time.
"Y/N HURRY UPPP! I WANNA SEE JESSE!" Jerome groaned loudly.
"SHUT UP I'M MAKING A SANDWICH! AND DON'T MAKE A JOKE ABOUT ME BEING A WOMAN IN THE KITCHEN!"
"Fucking damn it..." He pouted, crossing his arms over his chest as he slumped into the couch.
Edward chuckled, standing up from his spot and walking into the kitchen. Approaching y/n he reached out, placing a hand on her shoulder lightly. She turned around, ready to fling mayo into Jerome's face. But, when she saw Edward she froze in place, a blush crossing her face. He smirked, slivers of his teeth peeking out from under his lips. She took off her headphones, turning the music off.
"Need some help?" He offered.
"U-Uh, no I'm ok. J-Just cutting off the crust on Jerome's. H-he doesn't like it." She stuttered.
"Hm. Ok. Well I'll just keep you company then." He said, leaning against the counter, facing the living room.
Y/n swallowed a lump in her throat as she grabbed a knife from the knife block. Shakily, she sliced the crusts off of the bread. She couldn't stop shaking knowing that Edward was so close to her. Not fully focused, she went to cut the last bit of crust off and sliced the tip of her finger slightly. She winced, dropping the knife on the counter. Edward noticed, walking over to her. Softly, he grabbed her wrist, moving her hand towards him so he could see it better. Blood trickled down her finger, a dot falling on the floor.
"I-I wasn't paying attention. I'm s-sorry..." She quietly sobbed.
Edward furrowed his eyebrows in confusion as to why she would apologize. He lifted her chin up, rubbing it softly with his thumb. She looked up at him through slightly teary eyes. He smiled at her softly.
"Why are you apologizing, y/n?" He asked.
"I don't k-know..."
Edward hummed.
"Do you know if Barbara keeps band-aids here?" He asked, using a napkin to wipe the blood off her finger.
"U-Um, yeah. There." She pointed to a cabinet.
Edward grabbed her other hand, motioning for her to hold the napkin on her cut. She did as he showed her. Smiling, he opened up the cabinet and saw a box of band-aids. Taking one from the box he opened it up, putting it over y/n's cut. He made sure it wasn't too tight nor too loose. Once he was done, he used his thumb to wipe a tear from under her eye.
"Why don't you go sit down, hm? I'll bring these over." He asked, but it was more like a strong suggestion.
She nodded, mouth slightly ajar. He watched as she walked over to the couch, sitting next to Jerome but close to the chair where Edward sat. He smiled to himself when he saw that. He grabbed the sandwiches, an even wider smile on his face when he realized she had laid out two more pieces of bread in case he wanted a sandwich. He wasn't hungry but he still appreciated the thought. Walking over to the couch, he gave the two of them their sandwiches.
"Thanks dad!" Jerome cheered.
"Shut up." Edward grumbled.
He sat down in the arm chair, one leg crossed over the other as he rested his arms on each of the armrests of the chair. Jerome played the episode, his attention automatically focused on the show. But, y/n was watching Edward. He had removed his gloves, placing them in the pocket of his pants. She could see the very subtle veins in his hands, only now they were highlighted from the light of the tv. She looked down at her band-aid and looked back up towards Edward. She felt her heart melt and her stomach turn into a knot. Maybe he sensed this or maybe not, but he turned to her at that moment, his face was expressionless except for the slight smile that tugged at his lips. Y/n blushed, quickly looking away from him.
For the rest of the night, they continued to watch Breaking Bad. Once it got really late, Jerome left after giving y/n a hug and saying a goodbye to her Jesse Pinkman shirt. Leaving just her and Edward. She looked at him, still sitting in the arm chair.
"Um, are you staying longer?" She asked looking at the ground nervously.
He sighed deeply, tilting his head to the left. His legs were spread slightly, his strong hands gripping the edges of the chair softly. Edward looked y/n up and down. Not in a sexual way, he just found her nervous attitude and shy posture to be entertaining.
"Do you want me to?" He asked with a slight seductive tone, eyes peering at her through glasses.
Y/n's eyes widened, her legs shaking slightly beneath her. She swallowed a lump in her throat, shocked that he asked that question. She fidgeted with the hem of her shirt, knowing that his dark tired eyes were watching her. Edward awaited her response, fixing the sleeves of his shirt.
"U-Um, I'm not s-sure..." She stuttered quietly.
"Oh?" He asked, teasing her.
"I-I don't k-know if Barb w-would want you t-to. I-It's her p-place..." She mumbled, making eye contact with him for a split second.
Edward nodded.
"Mmm, that's fair. You're quite responsible aren't you?" He cooed, walking towards her.
At this point, y/n was trembling completely. She felt her heart race as he got closer and closer to her. His body casting a shadow over her. She started tugging on the bottom of her shirt, fists clenched up from her nervousness. Edward looked down and saw, gently grabbing her hands, rubbing his thumbs over her fingers.
"You're shaking, why is that y/n?" He asked, already knowing the answer.
"It's j-just cold in here..." She lied.
"Mmm, no. That's not it. It's pretty warm in here." He corrected.
Letting go of her hands, Edward brought one of his hands up to her face. Using it, he tilted her chin up. His eyes looked into hers, gazing deep into her soul.
"What's the real reason, hm?" He trailed his thumb down her chin and back up to her bottom lip.
He felt y/n breathe heavily, her eyes looked up into his. She couldn't speak. She was breathless from the situation. Her heart was racing 99 miles per hour and her brain felt fuzzy from being in his presence. Edward sighed, tugging her bottom lip down slightly as he dragged his thumb off her lip.
"Hm, I guess it's just cold." He said, grabbing his jacket from off the coat rack.
Sliding his coat on, he reached into his pants pocket and pulled out his gloves. Y/n watched in complete silence as he put his gloves on. Casting her a glance, he put his hat back on as well. He tilted his head slightly to the right, looking at her.
"Make sure you stay warm tonight."
Y/n snapped out of her daze.
"A-Are you leaving?" She asked, sadness evident in her voice.
"Well you decided to be responsible, which is good. So yes."
"Y-Yeah..."
"You're good for being responsible and respecting your friend. I'm proud of you." He said, brushing hair out of her face with his gloved hand.
Y/n audibly sighed, her knees shaking under his touch. Edward smirked and y/n cursed herself silently.
"Yeah, you're good. Aren't you?" He asked, giving her a slight smile.
Y/n just looked up at him, caught up in a trance.
"Hm? Well are you?" He repeated.
"Y-Yes, I am." She answered.
"Mhm, there you go. Make sure you get some rest tonight, ok?"
"O-Ok, Ed..."
"Good girl."
Without another word, Edward walked down the staircase, his shoes clacking against the metal. Slowly, y/n made her way to the banister. Leaning over it, she watched as Edward opened the door to the club, looking up at the her. He didn't say or do anything, just looked at her. And with that, he left, leaving y/n looking down longingly at where he once stood. The club felt empty without him and y/n felt her heart sink to the bottom of her stomach. Sighing, she sat down on the couch, grabbing a blanket and pulling it up over her. The warm embrace of the soft material comforted her as she thought about the way Edward looked at her. His dark eyes bore into her, a cold yet comforting gaze. His hands were rough, but when he touched her skin they felt like the softest satin money could buy. She missed his touch already. Craved it. She yawned, her eyes growing heavy as she fell asleep on the couch. Her dreams were filled with thoughts of Edward, some kind and caring, others lewd and erotic. If only those dreams were reality.
~
That morning y/n woke up, her eyes squinting as the sun shone down on her through the large window above the door to the balcony. A chuckle could be heard from behind her. Turning around, y/n slowly got off of the couch, her mouth opening wide as she yawned. Barbara stood in the kitchen, pouring a cup of coffee.
"Good morning, sleeping beauty." She joked.
"Mehmehmeh meh meh mehmeh..." Y/n mocked.
Barbara rolled her eyes as she took a sip of her coffee. Y/n rubbed her eyes with her hand, using the other one to grab the pot of coffee. Grabbing a cup from the cabinet, she picked up a mug and filled it with the hot beverage. She blew on it, the steam warming up her face.
"You sleep good?" Barb asked.
"Fuck no." She groaned.
"Oh? Why?"
"Um, weird dream..." Y/n trailed, pink dusting her cheeks as she remembered her dream.
"Uh huh. Well, Edward is downstairs. He asked to see you." She said.
Y/n nearly spit out her coffee.
"R-Really?!"
"No. Just wanted to see how you'd react." She giggled.
"Oh, fuck off."
"You love me."
"Yeah yeah, whatever. You got any plans today?" Y/n asked.
"Not really. Just setting everything up for the club tonight. Why?"
"Just curious. I think I'm going to come to the club tonight. A little socializing might be fun." She replied.
"That's good! You have an outfit to wear? If not we can always go shopping together." Barbara suggested.
"No, I have something. Thank you though."
"No problem. Well, I've gotta get to work. Calls to make. Feel free to stay longer or if you have to go right now that works too. I'll see you tonight?"
"Yeah, for sure. See you later, Barbie."
Y/n groaned, placing her coffee mug down on the counter. She tried to rub the sleep out of her eyes. She yawned once again, finishing her coffee and placing the mug in the dishwasher. Going to the bathroom, she brushed her teeth, changed into a new shirt and jeans, and left the club.
For the rest of the day, y/n spent it going to the park and picking flowers. The place where she would hang out when she wasn't at Barbara's was Selina's place. As a thanks for letting her stay, she would pick flowers and put them in a vase at Selina's place. At first Selina didn't care for it, but it grew on her. She especially liked when y/n snagged a few daffodils. As she went back to Selina's, she walked in the door and was surprised to see her there.
"Oh, hey Cat." Y/n said.
"Hey girly. What's up? Nice flowers." She said, watching y/n put them in a vase with water.
"Thanks. I was wondering if I could borrow some of your makeup? I'm going to the Sirens tonight." She asked.
Selina put down the cat she was petting, letting it run across the room. A smirk grew on her face as she stood up and walked towards the vanity in the room. She reached in a drawer, grabbing a bag and pulling it out, placing it on the vanity table.
"You meeting anyone there?" She asked.
"No? Like who?" She asked, sitting down at the vanity.
"Oh, I don't know...Edward?"
Y/n looked towards her, eyes wide.
"N-No! He's not even gonna be th-there!"
"Hm, ok. Well, I hope you have fun anyways."
Y/n stuck her tongue out at her as she looked towards the vanity mirror. She put on her eyeshadow, using a skin tone as a base and putting glitter on top of it. It was subtle, but it would glow in the club lights. After that she applied eyeliner, doing a puppy liner look. Then she put on her mascara, blush, a little highlight on her nose, and pink lip gloss.
"Does this look ok?" She asked, turning towards Selina.
Her friend walked up to her, looking at what she had done. After looking for a few seconds, Selina smiled and nodded. Y/n grinned from ear to ear.
"Looks great. What are you gonna wear?" She asked.
Y/n stood up, going over to the wardrobe. She opened it, moving hangers to the side as she looked for the clothing she wanted. After a little time, she found it. A soft pink dress that ended just under her mid thigh. It had a small white lace bow that was tied on the back of it on the waist. Granted, it wasn't a perfect outfit for a club, but it was the 'fanciest' thing she had. Selina had snagged it from a really hoity toity store a few weeks ago. Holding it up, she looked at Selina.
"I like it. It's very cute, very you."
"You don't think people will look at me weird?" She asked.
"Who cares if they do? Do you want to wear the dress?"
"Well, yeah..."
"Then that's the only thing that matters. Wear it!" Selina reassured her friend.
"Yeah. You're right...what shoes should I wear?"
"Wear sneakers. Piss the rich people off and be comfortable at the same time."
"Ooh, I like that."
"I know right, it's a great idea."
Selina picked up the cat that she was petting early, deciding that she didn't get enough love from the cat and needed to pet them more. Y/n grabbed her outfit, looking at her phone for the time. She saw that it was another hour until the club opened. But, she could show up early if she wanted. After thinking for a bit, she decided to bring her clothes to Barbara's and just change there when she felt like going down to join the club. As she packed her outfit into a duffel bag, she slid on some socks and sneakers.
"You heading out?" Selina asked.
"Yeah, you gonna be ok?"
"Do you know me?"
"Good point. Alright, well just make sure you eat something ok? I'll be good on food since I'm going to Barbs." Y/n explained.
"Yes mother."
"Oh shush. I'll see you later, Cat." Y/n said, grabbing her duffel bag and leaving the building.
Y/n climbed down the fire escape, landing on her feet as she jumped off. The streets were growing dark quickly, causing y/n to pick up her pace. Anyone in Gotham knew it wasn't safe to be out at night, especially if you lived on the streets. Y/n has had too many experiences to take any more chances.
~
Y/n opened the balcony door to the club, closing them behind her as she entered. Barbara, who was all dressed up and sitting at the bar, looked towards her. She rolled her eyes and shook her head.
"Do you ever use the main door?" She asked.
"Nope."
"Figures. What's in the bag? A body?"
"What!? No! It's my clothes!"
"Kidding, hun. I figured that's what it was. You getting changed here?" She took a sip of her drink.
"Yeah, gonna go do that now. The club opens in a few minutes, right?"
"Yeah, can't wait to see your outfit. Go change quickly!"
Y/n smiled, rushing up the staircase nearly tripping over a step. Barbara heard her close the bathroom door, grinning to herself as she walked to the main doors. Opening them up, she gave welcoming smiles to all the people that walked in. What started as a trickle of people quickly turned into a rush of people coming in. The club was full. Not packed entirely, but close enough. It was at this time that y/n came back down the staircase in her dress. Barbara walked up to her, looking at her outfit choice.
"Cute! Better than everyone else's outfits. Barf city." She fake gagged.
"You really think so?" She asked.
"Of course. The sneakers are a nice touch too. I should have worn some too, but I have to 'represent'. Boring."
Y/n chuckled, giving her friend a hug. Barbara hugged her back, giving her a quick peck on the cheeks as well. When the two friends stopped hugging, they walked over to the bar. Barbara ordered a grasshopper and offered y/n one. But, y/n shook her head, instead ordering a glass of cranberry juice. She didn't plan on getting drunk in a place that was full of strangers. You never know what could happen. Even if it was at a place you were familiar with. Too many weirdos. Y/n held onto her drink at all times, hand over the top of the glass when she wasn't drinking it.
"You gonna dance? I put some of your songs on tonight's playlist since you said you were coming over. Thought you might appreciate them." Barbara asked.
"You did? Barb, you're so sweet. I'll definitely dance when a song of mine comes on. Will you join me?"
"I'd love to. But, with these heels? Not likely." She chuckled.
Y/n nodded, giggling. She took a sip of her cranberry juice, finishing the glass. Placing it on the counter, she used her thumb to wipe a drop of the liquid off her lips. Barbara laughed at the sight, though, her laugh slowly fell and her lips turned into a subtle smirk as she looked behind y/n. Y/n was confused, not sure what she was looking at.
"Hello, Nygma. I didn't know you'd be here tonight." Barbara said.
Y/n felt her whole body freeze up, her shoulders tensing. Her interactions with him from last night replayed in her head like a slideshow. She felt a chill go down her spine and she swallowed a lump in her throat.
"Thought I'd swing by, I was already dressed up." He replied suavely.
"Well, enjoy the party. You too y/n, I'm going to go greet people." She said, winking at y/n before walking away.
Y/n mentally cursed Barbara for leaving her alone with Edward. Granted, they were in a club full of other people, dancing and drinking. But, being so close to him made her feel like he was the only one in the room. He made her nervous.
"It's rude to ignore someone, you know..." He commented, his voice smooth like velvet.
Y/n turned around suddenly, her face heating up as she made eye contact with him. He flashed her a small grin, the tip of his canine getting caught on his bottom lip slightly. Y/n moaned mentally, looking him up and down. He wore his usual attire, but his posture made him look like a whole other person. It was like pure magic.
"S-Sorry, I just d-didn't expect you to be here..." Y/n admitted.
"Hm, you look nice. That color suits you."
Y/n blushed, trying to hide her face.
"Thank you. You look nice too." She replied.
"Yeah? Well, thank you."
Edward looked down at her shoes, chuckling to himself when he saw that she wore sneakers.
'Cute.' He thought to himself.
He raised his gloved hand up, holding two fingers out. The bartender looked over, walking over to him. Edward placed some cash on the counter as he leaned against it.
"Scotch on the rocks, please." He asked.
The bartender nodded, putting ice in a glass and pouring scotch into it. Taking the cash, he slid the drink over to Edward who grabbed it tightly. He tilted his head back slightly, letting the burning liquid trickle down his throat. Y/n watched as his adams apple bobbed up and down, his jawline prominent as he swallowed.
"Staring is rude too." He stated simply as he put down the drink.
Y/n quickly looked away, focusing on a part of the wall across from her. Edward looked towards her, adjusting the hat on his head. He smirked, watching his hands as he clenched and unclenches his fists. Y/n flickered her eyes towards them, looking away once again as quick as possible.
"Sorry..." She mumbled.
"There's no need for that, y/n. You just need to learn some manners..." He smirked suggestively.
Y/n's eyes widened, looking up at him. Edward returned the gaze, taking a sip of his scotch while he did so. He phrased what he said just casually enough to not be considered a sexual comment. But, he emphasized the last part, making sure y/n picked up on his double entendre. He felt proud when he noticed that she did indeed notice it.
Barbara walked over, breaking the sexual tension between the two of them. She tapped y/n on the shoulder, getting her attention. Looking at her, y/n smiled and greatly appreciated her interference.
"One of your favorite songs is playing next." She said, turning to Edward after.
"You should dance with her. Y/n asked me to dance with her but I can't since I'm greeting people." She said.
Y/n looked up at the ceiling, frustration evident on her face. Her grip on the counter tightened, her knuckles turning white. Edward smirked at the sight, turning towards Barbara and noticing that she winked at him.
"Sounds fun to me. Y/n's music is always intriguing."
"Great! Just thought I'd come over and let you both know. Have fun!" She said before leaving.
Edward looked back towards y/n, his eyes meeting hers. He had a mischievous glint in his eye and y/n picked up on that. Reaching down to his glass, he took another sip of his scotch. He sighed, gliding his tongue across his lips as he watched her fidget with her hands before him.
"Do you wanna dance with me?" He asked.
"What? U-Um, yes. Well, maybe..." She stuttered.
Edward used two fingers to lift her chin up. He smiled down at her, gliding his hand across her jaw, tracing the bone with his thumb. Y/n shivered underneath his touch, goosebumps rising on her skin.
"You're shaking. Just like last night. Are you cold again?" He asked.
"N-No, not this time..." She sighed.
He raised an eyebrow.
"Then what's the reason this time?" He asked playfully.
She looked at him, biting her lip softly. Edward hummed, his lip tugged up into a small smile. Y/n didn't need to say anything, for he knew what her answer was just from looking into her eyes. Her heavy breathing being her number one give away.
"Hmm, not a verbal confession but, your eyes tell me enough. Perhaps I'll get you to admit it by the end of the night." He said ominously.
The song that was currently playing faded out, signaling that y/n's song was about to play. Grinning, Edward held out his hand, gesturing for her to take it. She did, albeit slowly, and he led her to a spot where they could dance. Edward, not sure what the song was just swayed his body slightly, hips going with him. It was a subtle dance and fit his persona well. In a whole club full of people grinding and dancing like no tomorrow, he was there doing minimal movements. Y/n, who was known to dance like a maniac, decided to just sway in synch with Edward. The bass from the song rumbled the ground, shaking through their bones. Edward listened to the lyrics as best as he could in such a loud and crowded setting. He realized how well-fitting this song was for their current scenario. Smirking, he reached forward and placed his hand on the small of her back, causing her to jump slightly. He pulled her close to him, his glasses glinting in the purple light of the club. Y/n moaned softly, slightly drowned out by the music, but she was close enough to Edward that he could hear it. He leaned down towards her ear.
"You like that?" He whispered, tightening his grip on her.
She whined, nodding her head softly. Edward chuckled to himself, feeling confident in the strobe lights and loud music that surrounded him. The feeling of her close to him making his heart race and stomach turn.
"Why don't you tell Edward what you think of him?" He strongly suggested in her ear, his hand trailing up her back.
She stuttered, nervous from the situation. Edward tucked a piece of hair behind her ear. He placed a kiss underneath her ear, letting his breath fan on her neck.
"C'mon, I know you can do it. I believe in you. Tell me, do you love me?" He cooed.
Y/n let out a shaky breath, nodding softly.
"Yes..."
Edward grinned from ear to ear, his hand trailing up to the base of her neck. The two of them were still swaying to the beat of the song. He stopped abruptly, rubbing her neck with his thumb.
"Good job, darling. I'm proud of you." He praised.
"Proud of me?" She repeated.
"Of course, y/n. So proud." He reassured.
Y/n just stared at him, mouth slightly ajar as she spaced out. His words caught her off guard. No one had ever said they were proud of her before. Her heart skipped a beat. Edward chuckled, cupping her face with his hand.
"What are you think about, hm?"
"You."
"What about me?"
"I want you to kiss me..."
Edward raised an eyebrow, amused at her bluntness. He once again rubbed the base of her neck with his thumb, watching her close her eyes in pleasure.
"You do? Me? A vicious criminal? Aren't you scared of me?" He smirked.
"Of course I am..." She gasped softly.
Edward placed his hand on the middle of her chest. He closed his eyes as he felt her heartbeat. It was racing, fast. Groaning softly, he opened his eyes and leaned in close to y/n. She leaned in too, eyes closing. He chuckled.
"I'm not kissing you here, darling. Why don't you come with me..." He said.
She nodded, following him close behind. Edward led her up the spiral staircase, not caring who was watching them. He didn't care if people got suspicious or spread gossip. 'Did you see the Riddler has a new girl?'. He could care less. Once they reached the top of the stairs, Edward placed a hand on her hip.
"Do you have a bedroom here?" He asked.
She nodded, pointing to the door on the left in the hallway. He nodded, grabbing her hand softly and leading her to it. Opening the door for her, he let her go in first. When he was inside, he closed it behind him, locking it for good measure. He turned back to y/n, seeing how nervous she looked. Smiling, he looked over the room, eyes landing on a chair. Walking over, he sat down on it, legs spread slightly. Y/n looked at him, her chest heaving. Sighing, he removed his coat, placing it on the floor, not caring if it got dirty. Edward took off his hat as well, tossing it on the bed. His slightly long and messy hair was revealed more, causing y/n to stare at it for a little while. She always loved his current hair style. It suited him so well. He rolled up the sleeves of his white button up undershirt. The muscles and subtly veins in his forearms catching y/n's attention.
"What did I say about staring, y/n? It's bad manners."
Y/n nodded.
"You were so good last night, are you going to be good for me again?" He asked, head resting against the back of the chair.
"Yes daddy..." She sighed softly.
Edward felt butterflies in his stomach when she called him that. He smirked, tilting his head to the side slightly. Y/n walked closer to him, a small amount of distance between them still.
"Daddy?" He repeated.
She immediately backed away, her eyes wide. Her face turned red from embarrassment. She sat down on the bed, hiding her face in her hands. Edward found it amusing. It was quiet for a little bit.
"Do I make you feel acknowledged, y/n?" He asked, breaking the silence.
She lifted her head up.
"What? Um, I guess so, yeah..." She sniffled.
He gestured her over with his hand, smiling when she walked over to him. Reaching out, he placed his hands on the back of her thighs. Y/n blushed at the touch.
"Do I make you feel loved?"
She nodded.
"Yes..."
"That's all you've ever wanted, isn't it? To be loved?"
She nodded again.
"You never got that growing up, did you? Poor thing..."
She shook her head.
"I'll love you, y/n. Like you deserve to be loved."
"You will?" She asked.
He nodded, patting his lap. She swallowed a lump in her throat as she slowly sat down on his lap. He groaned at the feeling of her on top of him. Edward moved his gloves hands up to her face, rubbing it gently. She pressed her face gently into his touch.
"You're so pretty, y/n. You know that?" He cooed.
"You are too..."
He chuckled.
"You think I'm pretty?" He questioned.
"Uh, no. Um..."
"No, it's ok. I take that as a compliment. I've heard if a man is called pretty it's the highest compliment." He said.
She nodded.
"You want me to kiss you, hun?"
"Yes please..."
"So polite..."
Edward moved his left hand down to her hip, placing his hand gently on it. His other hand slithered to the back of her neck, holding onto it firmly yet gently. He looked down to her lips, then back to her eyes. Without saying anything, he brought her towards him, placing his lips softly onto hers. She moaned quietly, muffled by the kiss. Leaning into the kiss, she placed her hands on his chest. Their lips moved against each other in synch. Fireworks went off in both of their stomachs. After a few more seconds, Edward pulled away from her. His hand on her neck moved back towards her face, gliding his thumb across her bottom lip.
"Good?" He asked.
"Amazing..."
Y/n moved closer to him, her leg brushing against his crotch as she did so. Edward groaned, his pants starting to feel tight. Y/n leaned down, kissing him again, catching him off guard. He smiled into the kiss, grabbing her shoulders and pushing her off gently.
"And what are you doing?" He questioned.
"I want more..." She said.
"Oh no, not this soon sweetheart. I'm not going to do that to you. I still need to take you out on a few dates before we can even start to think about that." He said, rubbing her thigh gently.
She frowned, upset at first. But as she thought about it, she agreed that that was the best thing to do. She appreciated that he didn't expect or even want sex from her right away.
"Can we do something else...?" She asked, curiously.
"Hm? Like what, hun?"
"Like..."
Y/n leaned forward, wrapping her arms around his neck and resting her head against him. Edward, caught off guard, just smiled at first. He laughed, placing his hands on her back. With one hand he rubbed circles into her back and with the other he trailed up to the back of her neck and held her against him. Y/n sighed happily, her heartrate slowing down as she relaxed.
"Tired?" He asked, amusement in his voice.
"Mhm..." She mumbled softly.
"Then you get some rest, sweetheart. I'll hold you for as long as you need."

Do you think Eddie would have found out about all the supernatural adventures if he hadn't been Osirian and Patricia had been there instead? And how would the third season go in that case?
Correct me if I’m wrong, but you’re asking about the Osirian!Patricia AU, right? If not, I’m so sorry for the rest of this answer 😂
So if everything was the exactly same through S1/S2 (i.e. the adults thought Joy was the Chosen One but it was actually Nina, the Cup got built, Sibuna gets cursed by Senkhara, etc.), except for the fact that Patricia was actually the Osirian, it stands to reason that the kids probably wouldn’t know that right away. And the same way Victor doesn’t actually have confirmation Nina is the Paragon until the S2 finale, the adults might suspect there’s something a little wacky about Patricia, but they probs would not know for sure what that wackiness actually was.
I think maybe in this AU because Patricia would still be interacting with Rufus as much as she did in S1 that he might tell her or give her reason to suspect there’s something up with her, but if let’s say he didn’t and she just spent the entirety of S1 having strangely intense nightmares and hallucinations that she and everyone else chalk up to being really upset over Joy’s disappearance. This just means that all of S2 is pretty much the same as canon apart from the occasional “funny feeling.” (If I were going to write this AU out as a story, tho, she’d probably know she was the Osirian by the end of S1, but for the sake of argument, let’s just assume this discovery comes at the same place as the canon timeline)
So here’s Eddie, right? He’s just a normal kid whose dad was a poopy head and left him and his mom to be in a cult. Casual business, all that. He and Patricia are still gonna hit it off, naturally, because nothing has really changed in their dynamic apart from a slight role reversal that isn’t even really relevant to them yet at the point where they meet, have their banter, fall for each other, etc.. The only difference might be that Patricia is a little more ✨inexplicably one-track-minded✨ about the mystery… so that could put some strain on their relationship. But other than that business as usual for Peddie.
Here’s where it gets tricky. In the finale, I don’t see any reason as to why Fabian, Alfie, and Patricia wouldn’t still go to the barn to rescue Jerome, and therefore Eddie would follow them bc he wanted to see what Patricia was hiding from him. He’d probably still get knocked in the head by Rufus, and Jerome would still give him the gem in a panic before getting dragged away, and Patricia and Alfie would still discover a concussed Eddie and bring him home, where she’d finally have to explain to Eddie who Rufus is/whats going on.
The divergence of the plot would come the moment Patricia gets her hands on that gem. She starts hearing voices, realizes Nina is about to do some dumb shit, starts rambling to Eddie that the Chosen One needs her, and she runs out the door. I don’t see why Eddie wouldn’t follow her, except for maybe if he’s really concussed. But I feel like he’d pull through because he’d obviously be really worried for his girlfriend, especially after what just happened.
So the final showdown happens, except it’s Patricia banishing Senkhara with the crown. So obviously if Eddie was there, he’d have a pretty good idea of the sort of supernatural shenanigans that went down.
In Season 3, however, all bets are off. Patricia would not be a shithead like Eddie, and she would obviously tell Fabian that Nina wasn’t coming back to Anubis House like a normal person, so that random Fabian vs Eddie brawl craziness doesn’t happen. Peddie probably still breaks up over the summer, but maybe not idk… let’s just say they did. Okay so Patricia has the vision of KT and the key, so when she turns up, Eddie is not being a total freak toward her, rather Patricia is, but it’s not as weird because Sibuna as a whole is being freaks about it.
KT gets sussed out as an ally rather than a threat pretty quickly, and Sibuna adopts her pretty quickly. Meanwhile, Eddie is aware that Sibuna exists, but isn’t taken into the club because his ex is now leading it 💀. So I’m thinking maybe he’s aware they’re up to something and does some of his own digging when his dad gets weird about the family tree project. Eventually, though, I think he’d approach Patricia and the others and offer his help. Cue romantic violins as the same harebrained scheme of KT to push her two friends back together ensues. Also in this AU she and Patricia are def besties bc there’s no wack misunderstandings and they’re still the only girls in Sibuna.
Now it’s also messy bc Patricia would be both Descended and the Osirian, but… she’s just OP I guess idk. Anyway, the ceremony works (womp womp) and S3b begins. I think Eddie would be in Sibuna atp, but maybe more in an unofficial way? Idk. But I think he’d probably get taken as a Sinner bc the only reason he escaped the crypt is because his vision of Patricia getting manhandled radicalized him. So he’s probs caught in a similar way to how he would have been if he’d not made it out of the crypt, and now he’s got all he needs to target the Osirian.
But don’t worry, she’s got plot armor!! Idk, anon it’s not super fleshed out 😂
Anyway, to give you the short answer to your question: yes I think Eddie would find out about the mystery in this AU, he just wouldn’t be as much of a key player in the story

post-school school/career headcanons (non-exhaustive, will make a part two eventually), for your consideration:
nina goes to undergrad for literature with a concentration in creative writing. hasn't picked a medium yet, and regardless it's not like making it in screenwriting is that much easier than traditional publishing, so she writes by night and is an office temp by day (she is aware of the irony of being the "permanent new girl" as a job description. it was funny the first time someone pointed it out. the first time.)
fabian gets a bachelor's in history and immediately goes to grad school for...library/information science. he has to spend a good bit explaining to people that yes, that's a real major, and no, "the books don't start reacting with each other -- a science is a system of ideas, not just when something blows up." he works as a TA and is torn between if he wants to stay in academia or find more "practical" work (this is where i mention this is background work for a story where he goes back to the school to teach <3)
amber might go to a post-secondary fashion school, but even if she does, she's absolutely going for the connections and dropping out the second she gets an industry job, most likely in nyc (which considering how well off she is...probably didn't take long). idk she's thriving (though if she's surrounded by work/kind of by herself socially i could see her getting to a breaking point and claiming she needs roommates to afford rent (lie) just so she can have people around lol)
patricia actually DOES become a guidance counselor. LOL. i can't resist this one -- more specifically, i could see her going to a liberal arts undergrad without a direction in mind but knowing she "needs to figure one out," taking a couple psychology classes, realizing She Cares, declaring a major in psych, and after discounting the clinical track (too close to med school) and the research track (too creepy), she ends up working on an MA in social work
alfie seems like a guy who would have his fingers in like 5 different pies at all times -- depending on who he's talking to/if he feels he needs to impress them, he says one of the following: "business partner" (jerome's business -- more on that later -- alfie's more of an ideas/production guy than a """business guy""" but you don't need to know that if he's telling you this), freelance film crew (prop master/art department), Professional Artist (has a studio where he makes the stuff he uses for his various pursuits), comic author (i feel like he has a weird janky webcomic he makes for himself. i can't explain it. he has a couple thousand readers), etc. he's always picking up a new thing and finding a way to use it until he gets bored and does something else. he just tells his dad "jerome and i are making A Profit" to keep him off his back
speaking of jerome: i've always been fond of the idea that he and his dad go into business together at some point, so it'd be some sort of thing they could do together that alfie's artistic skills would be of use for. despite the fact that jerome very much would like to bend some rules here and there, his dad is not keen on the idea of going back to prison so unfortunately, no white collar crimes for him. (for now.) they're doing well all things considered, but jerome refuses to get a job to fund the business ("what's the point in doing all this if i'm going to let someone else be my boss anyway"), so he's definitely having to find creative ways to squeeze more money out of the business to, y'know. Survive
i'm not 100% settled on this joy idea but communications/PR? definitely gets her start somewhere more corporate, but i could see her getting creeped out by stuff she'd have to spin/help cover for, so she switches to nonprofit (which is also depressing, arguably moreso sometimes, but it's a bit easier to stomach). isn't directly involved in jerome's business, but she does "consult" (not without something in return. preferably, y'know. Money. but sometimes she starts a casual conversation without realizing she should have written up a contract first, and that's the only way that jerome will actually pay you)

Fic Writer 2023 Review
I got this from @jaelijn, who generously tagged me - 30 questions about my fic writing through this year.
I hope for a better 2024 for all of us.
What’s something new that you tried in a fic this year? How did it turn out and would you do it again?
I wrote the first three chapters - well, I can hardly say "wrote" - of a fandom fusion - Blake's 7 scripts with MAS*H characters replacing them. To find them funny - even to know what's going on - you would have to be simultaneously a B7 fan and a MASH fan. Judging by the response on AO3, I would say there are about four such. Maybe less. I probably won't finish it - though anything's possible - and I doubt very much if I'll do anything like that again. The problem was that it was not very creative, but even so, it took up a fair amongt of time.
2. How many fics did you work on this year? (They don’t have to be finished or published!)
I wrote about 211,000 words of All We Know - pretty steadily through the year. I was writing the September 1962 section last January, and I'm writing the April 1963 section now. I'm publishing chronologically, so the section I'm working on now will be posted in April 2024 - after being proofread, edited, beta-read, edited, and so on.
I also completed three MASH stories - Crabapple Cove, Major Heart, Under the Apple Tree, and one Star Trek story, Kirk and Spock's First Kiss. M*A*S*H works in progress include Rosary, Nurse Doctor, MirrorMASH, and another strange crossover, Buffy the Vampire Slayer And Her Gay Foster Dads.
And there's Gray-Eyes, which is something else again.
3. What’s something you learned about yourself as a writer?
All We Know is easily the longest story I've ever written. I found that I can hold a story that length inside of my head and my heart, and keep writing it - and be confident I'll finish it. I found, too, that I do a lot of my writing inside my head before I sit down and stare at the screen. This last I always knew, I suppose, but now I really know it.
4. What piece of media inspired you the most?
Well, M*A*S*H, of course. Some lovely soul managed to upload All The MASH Episodes to the Internet Archive in such a way that they went unnoticed for over a year. (They are now gone- helpful people on the very public Mash subreddit started posting links to them, and whaddya know, once declared publicly, they're gone.)
I also watched some few episodes of E.R., most of the first episode of AfterMASH, a couple of episodes of Trapper John M.D., a specific episode of Sports Night, and I read Herman Wouk's Marjorie Morningstar and Kathy Hulme's The Nun's Story, among other relevant material.
5. What fandom(s) did you write for this year?
M*A*S*H. Star Trek. Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Blake's 7, a little.
6. What ship(s) captured your heart?
Hawkeye/Mulcahy. Over, and over, and over again. Also, because they're so very sweet together, Sam Pak/Sidney Freedman.
7. What character(s) captured your heart?
Well, besides Francis Mulcahy and Hawkeye Pierce, 2023 was the year I got to like Trapper very much indeed, as I wrote him in October and in December. I saw a very old fanvid, Trapper Never Got To Say Goodbye, and watched a bunch of good Trapper episodes, and - I just got to like him. I also invented/discovered in my heart several newly adorable people: Sam Colquhoun and his daughter Barbara, Martine LeClerc, Pauline Morley and her partner Thea Schwartz and their friend Nadine Royer, Loretta Bradford, Doctor Jerome White and Doctor Aaron Elharar, Sarah Pargeter Pierce and her 12-year-old daughter Mary, Sister Maria Angelica and Sister Raymond, and of course Cathryn Jamieson.
8. Did you write for a new fandom or ship this year?
No. Well, yes: I gave Margaret Houlihan the best possible husband I could imagine for her. I like Sam Colquhoun.
9. What fic meant the most to you to write?
At the time? Gray-Eyes. Ongoing through the whole year: All We Know.
10. What fic made you feel the happiest to work on?
Crabapple Cove. I got the idea and wrote it and giggled most of my way through writing it.
11. What fic was the most satisfying to finish writing?
Well, besides Gray-Eyes, I only finished four stories this year, plus some bits of tumblrfic: Crabapple Cove, Major Heart, Under the Apple Tree, and Kirk and Spock's First Kiss. They were all very satisfying to finish.
12. What fic was the most difficult to write? Did you finish it?
MirrorMASH. I have got to a point in that story where I know how it ends, and yet I am really struggling to write that ending - because when it's done, I shall never write MirrorHawkeye again.
But there was an idea for a story I thought of - "AfterMASH, only like the Golden Girls, Max and Charles and Francis sharing a house…" - and Honoria of course - and I wrote the opener for it, and then realised that I didn't see a way to write any more of it. I could see it in my mind's eye as an endlessly enjoyable TV series - but to write another word of it felt like climbing up the Cliffs of Insanity with Fezzik on my back and Inigo on his shoulders. It was like contemplating a land war in Asia. I just gave up.
13. What fic was the easiest to write?
Kirk and Spock's First Kiss. I wrote it at a writer's workshop at an online K/S con, and the story just unpacked itself into dialogue.
14. What were your shortest and longest fics this year?
Kirk and Spock's First Kiss is the shortest - a perfect drabble of 100 words. All We Know is the longest - 261,000 words in the current document, 143,314 words published on AO3.
15. Rec a fic you wrote or posted in 2023
I'm very pleased with M*A*S*H goes to Pride - thinking through what each of our surviving friends from MASH 4077th would do at the world's first Pride March in New York City in 1970, and whether I think they are LGBT or ally or neither.
16. What were you go-to writing songs?
I was writing the first draft of Christmas in Maine (just posted on Christmas Day) in the middle of a really, really hot August (for Scotland), and I played a list of Christmas carols over and over. I was then writing a chapter from Sister Maria Angelica's point of view and I made a playlist of Christian religious music. Otherwise, usually Leonard Cohen, Janis Ian, Willie Nelson, Tracy Chapman, Johnny Cash, k. d. lang, and so on.
17. What were your go-to writing snacks?
Cashew nuts.
18. What was the hardest fic to title?
Well - All We Know. I'd been calling it "Virtues and Sins" til May, til I realised that if I was going to post the opening chapter in two months time, I really, really had to think of a proper title.
19. Share your favorite opening line
""What do you pray for?" Hawkeye asks: not every time, but often. And when he doesn't ask, he looks: he stares at Mulcahy's rosary sometimes as if he hated it."
20. Share your favorite ending line
"First and foremost: Francis J. P. Mulcahy, formerly chaplain 4077th MASH: without you, this book would not have been written, and without you, I would not have been here to tell it."
21. Share your favorite piece of dialogue
"Doctor Pierce - debauched him?" "It does seem unlikely, doesn't it?" Charles said. "But then whatever else Pierce lacked, it was not persistence or audacity. Good God, did he know the Irishman could write like this? How?"
22. Share an excerpt from your favorite scene
After a moment, Mulcahy laughed. He sounded more tired than amused. "All right," he said. "Should I move this chair?" He got up. Hawkeye caught him by the arm as he was about the pick up his own chair. "Let me." he said. "I know just where it has to be." He moved the chair around, where the light from the central lamp would be falling at the right angle on Mulcahy's head, and waved Mulcahy to sit down again. All Hawkeye had time for, that morning, was to check that there was no indication of a concussion, and no broken bones. He meant to give Mulcahy a haircut, but he wanted to check his scalp for cuts or bruises. "And what can I do for you, sir? Pompadour, bouffant, some stylish Victory rolls?" Hawkeye was gently combing Mulcahy's hair out with his fingers. "Perhaps a little scalp massage?"
23. Share the final version of a sentence or paragraph you struggled with. What about it was challenging? Are you happy with how it turned out?
Winchester folded his hands in front of him. He looked calmer. He also looked pompous, and embarrassed. "It appears I owe you an apology." "Thank you," Mulcahy said, after a moment's effort. "I didn't intend to say anything to upset you. I'm sorry. Is Hawkeye all right?"
It may not look very difficult, but the whole passage of Charles Emerson Winchester and Francis Mulcahy talking in Charles's study in December (in All We Know) was hugely difficult and very painful to rewrite and rewrite and rewrite. I was so hugely on Francis's side that I was having difficulty seeing Charles's side. I am very happy with how it eventually turned out. Jakrar is a wonderful person to work through a story with.
24. What’s something that surprised you while you were working on a fic? Did it change the story?
While writing the final September section of All We Know, back in February, I realised something about Charles Emerson Winchester's son, Charles Emerson Winchester Jr, that I genuinely had not realised previously, and while it didn't change the story much, it did affect it. (Our Charles's father and grandfather are dead at the time All We Know opens, so CEW III has lost his ordinal number and his son CEW is Junior.)
25. What did you use to write? (e.g. writing programs, paper & pen, etc.)
I use LibreOffice on a Windows 10 desktop. I can and do write on my laptop if I have to, but my favourite place to write is at my desk in the little room with the window that looks out only on the sky, facing the wall. I take notes on Notepad.
26. If you had to choose one, what was THE most satisfying writing moment of your year?
"Please don't worry," Mulcahy said. "We can find our own way out."
(You will find out why, next year.)
27. Did you do anything special to celebrate finishing a fic?
No.
28. How did you recharge between fics?
What is this "between fics" you speak of?
29. If this were an awards show, who would you thank?
I would thank my demonic proofreader Jakrar, who is enabling me to keep writing this story in the best demonic style, Ajay, who has been my closest fannish friend for getting on for forty years, and @rescue-ram whose fabulous pro-Trapper comments (and fic) make me very, very happy. Also, for ideas presented to me in 2022 and 2023 that I stole without conscience and used ruthlessly in my own words in 2023: FaustianSlip for Not A Second Time, @allcanonisrelative for Every time, I think of you, @yeats-infection for What the Thunder Said, and also Crystalrose and @topshelf2112-blog for their very different but quite illuminating takes on Charles Emerson Winchester in particular and his relationship with Hawkeye Pierce, which was not something I'd thought much about before I started planning All We Know.
30. What’s something that you want to write in 2024?
I want to finish All We Know and Rosary and Nurse Doctor and MirrorMASH and I would quite like to write a few more episodes of Buffy the Vampire Slayer's gay foster dads. And I look forward to getting more ideas for something new.

I have mixed feelings about the cheating situation. In one sense they’re teenagers and I think everyone in the situation had their reasons for doing things and reacting to the situation, but I really struggle with Jerome’s reaction to the reaction. He’s a kid and I don’t think he should be held accountable for shit he did at 17 for the rest of his life when it’s this minuscule of a problem, but there were multiple scenes where people made digs at him for playing two girls and he truly believed that it was alright. Yes he apologized I get that, but even towards the end of the season he makes a comment about how he didn’t mean to hurt them…I truly believe Jerome didn’t think he deserved repercussions for hurting Willow and Mara. I don’t like that. Do I think they went too far with the revenge plot? Yes. Cause I wish they would’ve sat down and talked. Mara and Jerome, imo, needed to have a long conversation about it. Not with Willow. Not with Joy. But just the two of them. Their relationship arc had been from s1. Jerome had that little crush on her that blossomed and it eventually led us to s3 and the cheating situation. Maybe it’s me not understanding how he cheated on her with Willow, who I adore, I’m just not understanding how those two had any sort of chemistry or connection, but I wanted him to explain his sudden drawback. Joy defending Jerome those times were valid but her in that damn bedroom saying she thought it was all about revenge. It’s like the entire house lacked brain cells that season. The miscommunication trope was wild. What i’m saying is I think the cheating trope was interesting to the development of the characters. I just really don’t think Jerome realized what he did was wrong. I love Jeroy. They’re my favorite ship of all time. I just can’t stand how Jara essentially ended and there was no sit down conversation being like “Hey, I hurt you. This isn’t about me liking Joy it’s about me breaking the heart of the girl who fell in love with me and who i pined after for two years” I just needed something. Those teenagers couldn’t talk.
I have a lot of thoughts so please click below
see I do completely get what you're saying I do, and it's not that I disagree with you so much as that's just not really how things work. throughout the whole show, characters hurt each other and do shitty things because it's full of overwhelmingly human characters, but they can't just sit and talk it all out for hours in therapy speak until everyone is 100% okay. that's not how television works, that's not even really how life works. I don't honestly see how jerome and mara sitting and talking out every one of their issues would make either of them feel better and not more mad each other and it wouldn't be good television. hell, who in life ever sits down with their ex who cheated on them and discusses why and how and all of their personal feelings about it, especially two seventeen year olds who dated less than a year. I do understand that it feels like he should apologise further but the damage was already done, mara was too angry to hear it and jerome didn't know himself well enough to articulate why. I also just can't really name many shows where any (unmarried, childless, outside of a therapy environment) couples sit down and discuss in detail the end of their relationship.
I do disagree with you saying that he didn't think he deserved repercussions. he quite literally finds out that the three of them wrote a play specifically to embarrass him in front of the entire year group and accepts it and directs it anyway and says that he just hopes it helps mara move on and feel better. he does even repeatedly try to apologise to mara. he lets her say horrible things about his dad without fighting back and he backs off of joy around her as to not upset her further, all things he never would've done pre being caught cheating. he tells the house that they all need to get over it only when they're all being silent and glaring at him at the breakfast table because he still has to live there and he can't have every single person in house mad at him forever.
in terms of how he could have gotten with willow and his 'sudden drawback from mara', I really do not mean this to sound rude but like did you watch it? when he and willow first kiss in detention, mara had broken up with him like at least a week ago. he tried to win her back over and over (with admittedly hollow gestures I'm not like validating his behaviour just stating the facts of what happened) and she ignored him. by the time he kisses willow in detention, he thinks he fucked up too bad and he's never getting mara back, and so he's rebounding. he doesn't really have tons of chemistry with willow, that's kinda the point, she's just there and she's sweet and she's into him and it's a lot less complicated. it's only after all this that mara approaches him in the kitchen and is like 'congrats we're back together' and by that point he's already moved on from her enough that he's not willing to give up willow because he doesn't like either of them that much by that point. and this is not me defending him but like if he'd told mara then and there that he'd kissed willow even though she barely gave him a chance to, it still would've crushed her, because unlike him she didn't think they were done, she was just holding off because of the sisterhood. the whole situation isn't black and white, he didn't wake up and say "I'm gonna have two girlfriends" and it's a mess and that's the whole point of it. I've gone over the other jara stuff before so I'm not gonna repeat myself but idk, it didn't happen the way you're making it sound like.
and lastly, about joy saying "I thought it was all about revenge", the whole point of that scene is that both girls are lashing out each other because they're both broken hearted. it was the wrong thing to say, but it was an impossibly difficult and insane situation. and up until that point, mara didn't do a whole lot of crying and being sad because she got angry and stayed that way. the part about the revenge plotline that makes it so interesting to watch and why I liked it is because it was always going to hurt everyone involved and it was always going to be everyone's fault. jerome was getting hurt either way, joy was always going to fall for him, which was a betrayal to mara, but it was also an insane thing for mara to ask her to do in the first place. it blows up in everyone's faces badly, but both girls both eventually realise that it's okay that they're both upset and that it all only happened because of some incredibly poor decision making and that's that. the ending with mara deciding to put her friend's happiness above her anger is the most important lesson of all of it. also:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
he does try to sincerely apologise for all of it one last time and she shakes her head with a smile and tells him that it's okay. the whole point of mara's arc is that she doesn't need that from him anymore, she's learning to deal with her feelings herself and know her own worth even when others don't, which is what she's been needing to learn to do the whole show.
tldr: I understand that cheating is a difficult topic that people have a lot of thoughts about and I respect that, but real life isn't therapy and what a lot of your takes tell me is that either you didn't really pay attention during their storyline or that it's been a long time since you watched it

I just rewatched S1 bc Netflix, idk if im gonna go into S2 bc it aint on Netflix but i do have questions!!
- We figure out that only a descendant of Amneris can restore the Cup right? So, Nina.
- why was Sarah considered a Chosen One during S2? was she also a descendant?
- if she was a descendant, that means she and Nina are related which isn’t the wildest theory— makes a lot of sense actually. but, if she’s a descendant via her father, would that make KT a possible Chosen One as well?
- Rufus Zeno was considered the Osirian remember?
- then it was Eddie, but what exactly is the Osirian? (asking for a girl who hasn’t rewatch s2 in a minute)
- is it not related to your bloodline? because in the movie, Eddie lived while the Osirian part of him died. did it just pass from Rufus to Eddie when Rufus became unworthy or something? Or are Rufus and Eddie, and therefore Mr. Sweet possibly all related?
- off topic but never forget that Mr. Sweet and Jerome’s dad knew each other because they both attended Anubis House as teenagers. and they more than likely had Victor as a caretaker as well. isn’t that wild. imagine Jerome’s dad in Anubis House, happy and relieved to be out of prison, and then boom! there’s that creep-raven-obssesed-i-want-to-hear-a-pin-drop-bastard still looking the exact same age. must’ve been a nightmare.
Sarah was a Chosen One in season one as well! That's why Nina didn't start heavy hearing voices and talking to the house until after Sarah died :( Nina is the "true" Chosen One bc the thing they were being chosen for was to rebuild the Cup of Ankh and only Nina did that. It's implied that Nina will be the last Chosen One, meaning when she dies there won't be another one to take her place like she did with Sarah, because the goal has been achieved. Now there was some open-ended stuff with the Chosen One with the "not allowed to be around the Osirian" thing, so that might not be accurate.
From what I understand, to be a Chosen One you have to be a descendent of Amneris (meaning that Sarah and Nina are distantly related) and you have to be born on all the same number. Sarah was born on the first hour of the first day of the first month (1AM on January 1st) and Nina was born on the seventh hour of the seventh day of the seventh month (7am on July 7th). KT is also a descendant (I think? ig the Amneris could be from Sarah's mother but I feel like it was always implied that her father was the start) but can't be a chosen one because there can only be one at a time and that's Nina. I also don't remember if KT's birthday was ever stated. Also fun thought: this means Nina and Joy are also probably distantly related!
Not as much about the Osirian is known but I imagine it's in a similar vein. The job of the Osirian is to protect the Chosen One. Rufus was the Osirian during the generation that Sarah was the Chosen One (and failed his duty), and Eddie was the Osirian during the generation that Nina was the Chosen One. Similarly, Eddie's Osirian abilities didn't fully develop until Rufus was near death and then dead. It's implied that Mr. Sweet knew that Eddie was the next Osirian, which implies that it's also based on birthdate, but we don't know the details of that, or who the original Osirian was (by comparison Amneris being the original Chosen One). This also suggests Eddie and Mr. Sweet are related to Rufus. The movie was kinda wack but I think it was just that Eddie gave up his abilities as an Osirian and like Nina would be the last Chosen One, Eddie was the last Osirian so when he gave it up it just died instead of passing onto someone else for the next generation.
THATS SO FUNNY I have honestly never thought about Jeomes dad returning and seeing Victor exactly the same. It's even funnier if you think that bc it's never brought up he just saw Victor and was like. Nah I'm good. None of my business. 😭😭

Lately I've been thinking about modern day Napolington dealing with murder fairies. They're just two bickering ambassadors or some such then oops horrific murders happen.
I had a long running modern day AU head canon thing wherein Arthur was in Paris representing the UK on some matter or another (his actual position, and what he was there for, is irrelevant) and Napoleon was a member of the French government (which ministry he'd be in changes for me on the regular since he'd be a good fit for a few of them - regardless, he's in a very senior position) and due to Shenanigans and Situations and a bit of a rooftop drunken party they end up shacking up and Arthur's family is shocked and appalled and Napoleon's siblings are all like "god you're a mess, Napoleone, and really? an Englishman?" though his mother would be Very Catholic(tm) about it all. His father wouldn't care because Carlo was a bit of a chaotic lush.
(I have it that he was married to Josephine but she died within the last two to three years of something unexpected and he's now single-dad-ing it with their kids.)
Murat is all, 'Welcome to the family. They're going to give you a really hard time for the next ten years then they might accept you. Maybe. Though as an Englishman, maybe not.' Turns to Napoleon, 'Really?? An Englishman?? The least you could have done was date a Scotsman or something. The only reason my kids are learning English is because I believe in knowing thy enemy.' (Napoleon, sotto voce: it's not the one hundred years war anymore. christ.)
Arthur is like, 'See, at least people talk about things in this family. If in a sort of terribly Corsican, over the top, wow-that-didn't-need-to-be-put-quite-like-that fashion. My mother texted me: You shall arrive promptly for Christmas dinner. You know the size of the family dining table and so therefore there's only one spot being set for you. And that's literally all the communication I've received about the entire matter.'
Murat: Holy shit. Savage.
Arthur, 'Napoleon, meanwhile, had fifteen family conference calls about it. There was some yelling. My Italian isn't very good, but I think he was called a Little Slut by Jerome then your wife said "at least he's not Austrian like that one mistake you dated".'
Murat, 'I know, I was on them.'
Arthur, 'You should do family zoom calls. Then you can see the facial expressions he's making through it all.'
Pauline and Elise are the only nice, normal ones (aside from Hortense and Eugene and the younger generation more broadly). Caroline just thinks it's hilarious. Joseph is nice by dint of not really caring. He's just like, 'mama, we all saw what he was like in university.' and Letizia is like, 'at least he married and had children before going all peculiar. At least I have grandchildren. Even if he was married to a woman I didn't approve of.'
Joseph:
Joseph: you have so many grandchildren.
Joseph: also you approve of almost no one's spouse.
Lucien, like Murat, is appalled that it's an Englishman. He's like, 'brother, brother, I know some very nice French artists and writers. Let me introduce you to them.' and Napoleon is like, 'your friends are all pretentious freaks, Lucien, you know that right?'
-----
sorry the entire thing becomes a comedy of errors almost immediately
-----
anyway! Murder fairies! I love the idea of a modern AU with murder fairies. OOooooooh, they're visiting England because Napoleon wants to go on a walking tour because he's outdoorsy like that and enjoys walks and nature.
Queue some fucked up murders.
Also Arthur's family being Posh(tm) and English(tm). (Anne is like: I'm trying to accept this. I'm trying to be good about this. Arthur is all: can you try harder? Granted, you're doing better than literally everyone else. Gerald just lectured me about God.)
Napoleon: not sure what i'm scared more of: the murder fairies or your mother.
Richard: at least I'm not the one with the fucked up love life for ten minutes!
Arthur: Richard, you are not helping.
OR
it's in Paris, there's political stuff happening in the background and then people start experiencing some weird things. Reflections in the mirrors are blurry about the edges. People think they see things then turn around and there's nothing behind them. Bumps in the night.
There's something about making big cities super claustrophobic that I like. Atmospheric countryside is really fun, and I love the ease in which it allows you to drop into the gothic, but there's something especially horrifying in being in a busy place full of people and still the creatures can get you.
Also, the fact that the murder fairies access our realm via mirrors and dreams means there's no real escape.
With modernity, well, we're all carrying mirrors at any given moment since cellphones are reflective surfaces. Also something with the selfie camera would be hell of a lot of fun.
Also the murder fairies wear people's skin as their glamour so you never actually know if who you're talking to is the person or the fairy.
But there's so much potential with modern technology.
Murder fairies infest the metro. You descend down to get on the metro at Rennes or whatever and when the train pulls up the reflection in the windows as they pass by shows a murder fairy behind you and when you turn around it's just the crowd.
Fun fun fun!! Fun for the whole family!
-----
excerpt from my own murder fairy story that has yet to see the light of day:
The other fairies move forward, two already have swords drawn. The king holds up a hand and they stop their advance. A smile full of teeth. I see what your plan is. The king steps forward. Napoleon does his best to look down at the king whilst looking up. I had hoped you would be willing as Peredur was willing. Magic is stronger when the healing gift is freely given, but I will take what I need. 'How will this work?' Napoleon asks, sweating. The heat overwhelms. Sharp cracks of rock splitting slice air. 'If it is me you need, my own leg never fully healed, just as yours doesn't seem to want to heal. Mapping mine over yours won’t make it better. And your wound doesn’t mean your kingdom is wounded or must suffer. I believe that some power of kingship comes embodied in the person himself, but much of it extends beyond the mere physical form. Yes, the monarch represents the land and the people, but if you are wounded, and you allow that to determine the quality of your kingship, to control your actions, dictate and consume your leadership, you were never fit to rule in the first place. That right belongs to someone else.' This is not your world and it does not operate by your rules. My land is bound to my body. If I am wasted away, so is my land. You have seen where it is barren. 'Even if that is so, I can't heal you. My body, my skin, will not heal you. No one's body can heal you. Didn't you remain wounded when you took Arthur's appearance? Percival’s? If so, that was no healing. It was applying a bandage to something requiring stiches.' You cannot know that. ‘I am not your Percival. You are not my fisher king.' The king shakes his head in a pitying manner. Reaching forward, he wraps a clawed hand around Napoleon's neck and lifts him up as if he were nothing but a rag doll. [...] The fisher king was healed by the Grail question. But that is legend, and this is real life. Real life where a woman is on fire, ripping apart a bridge. Real life where a fairy is strangling him. Real life where he dangles two feet off the ground fast heading towards unconsciousness. Napoleon tries for air, tries for the question, 'what is it that troubles—' Searing pain across stomach. Everything is stars, blurred shapes, sharp colours. He thinks he might be screaming. Movement. He is aware of being thrown. Hard rock. Searing hot rock. He feels it through clothes. His hands hold coiled intestines. He thinks he should ask for opium. He thinks it fitting he'd die on a bridge with stomach cut open. It’s poetic and his life has always been something of a romance.
Napoleon is having a great time, everyone!

-—-—-The Event Horizon-—-—-
Chapter 1. Prologue
🫐—-—-—-—-—-— »,”☆
“Holy shit-“ Melvinborg snapped excitedly, a scarlet focus melting into triumph. His calculations were all sound, the final screw locked in place. Finally. After nearly a year of study and at least seventy Monster drinks, he had designed a shuttle strong enough to do the impossible. But would he have that same strength?
—-[Start] [« Last] -,”🪽”,- [Next »] [Latest]-—
He ran his fingers through his hair, relaxing, hydraulics hissing as the tension left his body. “Alright ETH3R, it’s time. You know what to do.”
His virtual assistant, the Elite Technological Herald of the 3rd Resolution, was far more advanced than she needed to be just to run a rocket. It was his lifeline, just a bit- the only thing he could socialize with that would be free of judgement. Her sisters, other iterations of her code now perfected, had seen him through his first two (failed) resolutions; the original time machine and the memory communication beam. He couldn't do it with just his own power. The laws of spacetime still hindered him, and in order to truly reach his younger self to teach and fix him, he would need to go where the laws of spacetime didn't apply. The only such place was the near impossible; venturing straight into the core of a black hole.
"ETH3R, all systems are go. Engage the takeoff procedure." Quickly obliging, it issued a command to the central power station, and brought his creation to life with a mechanical symphony. The countdown began, one that he had been waiting for his whole life. The road to his liberation was ready for a ride and the keys were in the ignition. He held his breath.
10. 9. 8.
7.
He took a letter out of his pocket. It was written in young, loose cursive, neat between the lines on clean perforated notebook paper. 6.
"Dear Dr. Future Me, (because I KNOW we'll be a doctor by then,) Did we ever make it to Elitenati? Have you found out the secret to time travel yet? Did you win a Nobel Prize? Do I have friends yet? Are Mom and Dad proud of us? Signed, Melvin Sneedly age 7, 2nd Grade at Jerome Horowitz Elementary." 5.
He sighed. Poor kid would never get anywhere with his mindset. He... quietly resolved not to shatter his hopes, when he met his little self. Instead, frame it like all the things you could do right, you just have to do this and this and this and change these and that and this. It.... wasn't going to be easy. He was never good at giving advice. 4.
But he had to try. 3. 2. 1.

Liftoff.

I'm sorry TCR was a pretty shitty show and anyone saying otherwise otherwise is just a Tom stan. The show was not a true reflection of the time period and it was conflicted at best. Amanda's character was portrayed as this greedy and self-serving woman but caring at the same time, which is it? We had a drug dealer testifying in court with no cross examination. We have character development for Danny's lawyer pretty much in the final episode, You have a court system that empathizes with the black community but the show uses black people to do all the heinous crimes that are shown and sexualized them at the same time. And what was the mystery of the show? What were we trying to solve? Was it the discovery of his DID personality or was it the shooting? It was a complete lack of focus on the main goal, but I do give them credit for portraying the DID community in a sensible manner and it had some great performances. A few of these problems could have been solved in the editing of the show itself which was not good at all
I'm sorry TCR was a pretty shitty show and anyone saying otherwise otherwise is just a Tom stan.

"Sh*tty" Anon?? How on earth?? Now, maybe YOU didn't like the series, but I wouldn't call it "Sh*tty" at all. But hey.... I guess you can think whatever you want to think. 🤷🏾‍♀️ Btw, I'm sure all of the THOUSANDS of viewers who averaged out to give this series a 92% "Fresh" on the RT meter aren't all "Tom Holland Stans". 🙄
Tumblr media
Amanda's character was portrayed as this greedy and self-serving woman but caring at the same time, which is it?
Tumblr media
Ummm...did we watch the same series?? 🥴
You couldn't tell that Rya was a CARING woman and was probably one of the only ones who actually cared about Danny's wellbeing and wanted him to come to the realization about his condition....vs. some of the others in the series who were simply trying to paint Rya as this greedy self-serving woman? 👀
We have character development for Danny's lawyer pretty much in the final episode
I do feel like they could have spent more time/episodes on the actual court case (those few episodes felt a bit rushed to me), and maybe given us some more character development for Danny's defense lawyer, but sometimes we have to realize that THIS was NOT the focus of the series. The focus of the series really was DANNY, and him coming to the realization that he has DID.
You have a court system that empathizes with the black community but the show uses black people to do all the heinous crimes that are shown and sexualized them at the same time
What heinous crimes committed by black people are you referring to Anon? Danny shot his step dad at Rockefeller Center.... Danny is white.
The drug dealer was black and sold Danny the gun, but aside from that, what else?
And Jerome had a sexual relationship with Ariana (Danny's Alter), but what crime did he commit exactly? 🥴
Granted, the drug dealer didn't have to be requesting Danny to do sexual favors in exchange for getting what Danny wanted, but I mean, are we gonna try to sit here and pretend that this type of stuff doesn't actually happen in real life?? Orr...... 👀
And what was the mystery of the show? What were we trying to solve? Was it the discovery of his DID personality or was it the shooting?
Personally?? I, as well as others (including even Tom himself) have said that maybe the one mistake Akiva made with releasing this series was trying to advertise it as a "mystery". It would have been better (imo) to just advertise the series as Danny simply coming to terms with his own childhood past, and his DID diagnosis. Imo, it wasn't so much about the audience NOT knowing whether Danny has DID or not. We knew before the show even aired. It was more so about Danny knowing, and how Rya was able to help him fit all of the missing pieces together of his life. I actually felt the show was very well done, and one of the very FEW films I've seen that treat the mental illness of DID with such care, compassion, and doesn't just make Danny out to be some kind of monster. JMHO
A few of these problems could have been solved in the editing of the show itself which was not good at all
I won't argue with your opinion Anon. We're all entitled to our own opinions on the series. Do I think there possibly could have been things that could have been better?? SURE! For example, I probably would have cut out most of the stuff in the first 3 episodes tbh...shortened them into maybe one episode or two, and spent a little more time on the court case by Ep 6 imo.
But overall, this series was NOT (imo) a "Sh*tty Show".

one thing to note is that there are NO bingos this chapter, mainly because one thing most of us probably didn't expect lmao: NXX SEPARATED.
unthinkable. unimaginable. like there's practically NO team stuff in ch9. that's insane. artem was flooded with heirson cases, vyn was dealing with.. whatever the fuck he was doing, marius was presumably busy with managing the backlash of the trial in 08, and that leaves luke, who even though is the one that mc can tag along with for a case is still busy on his own with nsb stuff. hardly any teamwork happening, besides if you count marius' "interrogation" where luke gave him his button back and vyn just guiding mc to figure out what the suicide notes meant... yeah. not to mention artem being skye's attorney???. 99% Win Rate Artem Wing. hello. I have never been more confused. what's the plot behind this? are they all orchestrating a behind-the-scenes plan that'll come together, or are they really all doing their own shit? I'm leaning more towards the former given the nature of the game but gosh this is taking a TURN
translation errors were a lil funny but i could still understand the point which is all i need.
vyn doesn't say anything ominous but saying kys out of nowhere counts a little i think.
jerome 🫰 hes cute but he's uncanny and I'm so curious as to what he's up to. telling the little girl to get marius to pay was nice but there must've been an underlying intention.
no nxx team meeting (i mean with luke and artem. that barely counts because artem was so busy he just let luke have her).
mc figured out abt luke's illness but from what I'm seeing nothing is quite clear and she doesn't know he's got three years oof. artem has a clue but I'm sure he knows nothing either. and marius and vyn have their suspicions but nothing's sure or confirmed.
LUKE PROTECT ROSA !!! YEAHHHH watch ur back u bitchass macho king
do parallels btwn skye and the incident with luke in the hospital count as symbolism idk I'm counting it. i think there's some symbolism a little bit.
for our romantic moment before something terrible happens, ah yes, sweet and worried words on a phone call and then luke has a whole episode. yay. delightful. luke don't fucking die.
no tot story would be complete without an absurd mid-story debate. damn, right in front of the secret nsb station???
no weird luke gadget 😔 sorry he was busy being sick
found family? they aren't even together the marluke moment was barely anything. artem worried about luke having an episode... counts a little. not enough to warrant even a question mark 😔
no nxx meeting, no hilarious bullshit from a boy. sad.
WHAT IS THE TIMELINE SHAKES HYV WHAT IS GOING ON
free space luke is dying
AARON YIPPEEE. good dad.
vincent is a good boy but no intel from him. just him being Best Assistant. Bestest ever.
I didn't cry but i am close to a mental breakdown
LUKE DEPRESSION ASHDJKWKW poor guy.
not sure if Emotionally Charged and Slight Conflict counts as an argument but personally i think kinda?
no baldr because NO TRIAL AAHFJSJJSK
not only do i have more questions about the new Big Bad but I have questions about WHATEVER THE FUCK IS GOING ON WITH THE WHOLE TEAM.
voice acting 🔛🔝 as always.
NO COURT 😓😓😓😭😭😭
marius was pretty badly injured what the hell WHERE'S HIS PERSONAL BODYGUARD AJDJFWJ LUKE CAN U DO A LIL FAVOR PERHAPS
artem? almost no artem. AND NO CAPTAIN MORGAN IN THIS STORY AT ALL 🥹🥲
luke's hands. r so pretty. in both goddamn illustrations. eeeee
okay and that's all the bingo points sorted, most of it sorted. two other things that piqued my interest was
1. skye harper. she loves taking care of people and she hates seeing people suffering. gerard suffered because of his mom and so many patients suffered because of tyson turner. she wants to protect her patients and the people she favors. i support her actions btw she's so cool for that. artem also supports her so that's a point in our favor! i also think her drinking all night when gerard disappeared definitely is relevant somehow, we'll see in the next chapter.
2. mc is probably feeling a little left out ngl. everyone's got their own thing, and she can't really actively participate in much because she got doxxed and her personal life is being pried into. and she can't do much about anything, not even help artem for some reason, and she's definitely having a personal conflict especially with luke's... everything. i just love mc's character so much i hope she snaps soon tbh.
thus ends my crazy goings. if u read all the way here kudos have a cookie 🍪
and when we get to the whole team about luke's illness... rubs hands together. hoo boy ch10 is going to go CRAZY.
ALSO the nsb is definitely shady and marius does not trust em all that much. i think he trusts luke but his affiliation with the nsb is causing some distance. aaa.
