#jon actually gets to become the knight and he actually gets to go on the adventure
Text
AGoT was absolutely making some big statementsᵀᴹ re deconstructing unrealistic fantasies and how they make tragedies out of children, with Jon, Bran, and Sansa being the main vehicles for this commentary. They are basically three different versions of GRRM’s critique on the genre. All three had built life expectations based on the songs fed to them as children, but had to have those dreams and aspirations (very) violently shattered as they were thrust into a world that didn’t care how it made corpses out of them. They have all been made victims of fantasy’s violence in a tragic process that is believed to be the natural order.
Sansa realizes in time that the songs didn’t paint the full picture. The singers neglected to warn her that not all handsome princes are kind, and not all knights actually understand the contradictions in the vows they swore; some don’t really care to in the first place. She learns that the handsome prince she loves can brutalize her through the very knights who should protect her (an innocent maiden). Though he doesn’t know it yet, it was Bran’s very ideal that almost killed him. He wanted to be Barristan the Bold, a valiant knight of the kingsguard. But it was a member of this “noble” order that tried to murder him (and thus made his hopes and dreams impossible) because he witnessed him betraying the man and institution he swore allegiance to. And Jon, like Bran, wanted to be the valiant hero. He banked on the songs which propagandized the Night’s Watch and their noble exploits. Then he actually joined the watch and came to learn that this “noble” order is an oppressive xenophobic force; and the contradictions presented when the oppressed (a bastard boy with little social status) unwittingly becomes an oppressor (him initially buying into the propaganda that the wildlings shouldn’t be a protected class).
Once all is said and done, all three children are forced to take on roles that couldn’t be farther from what they envisioned. Sansa is a princess hopping from one tower to the other, forced to cater to the whims of abusive men. Bran is a crippled boy who unlocks a magical power that he doesn’t really care for; he wanted to be a knight not a magician for crying out loud! And Jon does become Lord Commander as he wished, but he is utterly depressed and lonely when he’s made to foreswear family ties and drive his friends away once he gains power over them.
But the cool thing is, in the very same way that fantasy is deconstructed through them, it is also reconstructed and given new meaning as they find a place for themselves in the world in spite of their tragedies. Sansa is still a pretty princess in a tower, but she is learning to be her own rescuer and she has managed to retain empathy and kindness in an environment that tried to tell her how futile it would all be. Bran may be crippled and incapable of becoming Brandon the Bold, but he has reinvented what it means to go on the hero’s adventure and he is beginning to build a role as the Prince of the North. And Jon may be a bastard, yet he has somehow become the living embodiment of what it is to be the valiant prince that little children love to dream about.

wait, yo there’s an entire mage magic system in this au? Might I ask for more details?
Sooo...
The short answer is that is a soft magic system, with no hard rules, it's just fun with the characters.
The long answer on the other hand...
Tumblr media
I had a similar ask before, but since then some things changed, so I guess I try to explain it as best as I can.
So! This is a magical-fantasy-medieval AU, I was loosely inspired by arthurameslove 's fic This Lonely Knight, but since then I made my own version of a similar premise. The magic system is based on the original fears, the avatars are people who are affected by their magic, in one way or another. The more close to the fear the person is, the more magical effect it has.
The most known magic users are witches. They go to school to study, and from there, they can go and become advisors in small kingdoms where they can get gifted titles like Lady and Lord, but they don't get actual lands or servants.
Tumblr media
Jon is not an advisor, but Elias' protégé and he can afford to employ Martin, who is a Knight, and previously worked for Lord Lucas. Elias is the advisor of King Magnus.
Tumblr media
The kingdoms are based around the Fears, with most avatars being nobility or witches. (I wasn't sure if I wanted to make Simon a noble or a mage, maybe he is not so open about his skills) The witches are glass cannons- they can be really powerful in some situations but otherwise, kinda weak so is a common thing to have a designated knight bodyguarding them if they leave their palaces.
Martin is 'touched' but can't do magic the way Jon, or other witches.
Tumblr media
If a witch finishes school, they are respected and believed that they can control powerful magic (with circles and runes) without it affecting their bodies and minds negatively - not like Jane Prentiss, for example. She was a noblewoman who got- corrupted.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Not every witch goes to serve nobility, there are plenty of small village witches, and Gertrude also tried to leave the palace and become a bog witch kinda deal.
Tumblr media
Innisially for this au, I made the 'witch factor' the characters' connection to the eye in canon. I didn't see either Tim or Martin really eye-aligned, so I made them knights instead.
Tumblr media
Since then I added Sky Mages for the Vast avatars- I just tought flying and stars and sky really deserve their own coven.
Tumblr media
I'm not sure about the other fears names and schools jet. The phrase Seer Mage came from @skell3 's fanfic inspired by my comic, and I loved it so much that I baked it in my au. Also, the thought that eye-aligned mages are all about seeking truth and other's secrets, while can't really fly or fight mutch was funny to me.
Tumblr media
So this is a loosy-goosy system that I'm still working on. I'm also open to suggestions- like with Basira and Daisy- they ended up being witch hunters.
Tumblr media
or Georgie and Melanie
Tumblr media
And I changed Michael from a jester to an actual noble/prince
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So yeah, I hope this answers your question. Mostly a character-based, case-by-case thingy.

The Quartet That Started It All
Tumblr media
As followers of this blog will note, this is not actually the quartet that started it all for me, but it DID launch author Tamora Pierce's career in the 1980s, and Alanna remains absolutely beloved among Pierce's heroines. Let's talk the Song of the Lioness Quartet.
In a classic case of "if I can't do this as a girl, then I'll do this as a boy and I have a handy twin brother to go full Twelfth Night with," Alanna of Trebond begins The First Adventure by dressing as a boy to train as a page in Tortall's royal court. This book introduces all our main characters and establishes Alan the page amongst his peers and Alanna as she finds herself and her place in chivalry.
One of the other amazing things about Alanna's story overall is that she begins it absolutely terrified of her own magical gift. Her arc includes learning to work with her magic rather than to fear it, and that's a twist on magic users that I really appreciated. We often get overly confident magic users--indeed, we'll get TWO of them later in the series--but it's rare that we get magic users who are fully aware of their powers and are still absolutely terrified of them. So of course, the story and the world and Pierce herself keep throwing Alanna into situations where she has no choice but to develop and use her gift. It's so, so good. This first book covers Alanna's page years, and we move into her squire years in book two.
In the Hand of the Goddess really expands on Alanna's key relationship with Prince Jon on Conte, Duke Roger of Conte, and Geroge Cooper. Alanna moves into a wider world of adult politics and stakes in this book. From being able to defeat an older, stronger, and more experienced opponent in a duel to developing her healing skills when a wound puts her out of commission during a war, Alanna cements her skills, connections, and position in society. This culminates with unmasking Roger as an attempting regicide and the accidental reveal of her gender.
This book is really, really good, and extends Alanna's childhood fear of magic to her fear of Roger specifically in a really natural, logical way. I could say more about the details, but these two books have an episodic vibe to them, so I won't spend too much time exploring every single key plot event.
The Woman Who Rides Like a Man sees Alanna spending her first year as a knight in the desert, with a Bazhir tribe. She becomes their shaman by way of self-defense; she murders their first shaman when he tries to murder her for "being unnatural." Then it falls to Alanna to train three magic users for the tribe, and this is where we see more nuance into how different magic users relate to their powers, from sheer hubris to fear to "this is just part of me, let's do this." It's a phenomenal experience for Alanna, and she learns as much from her students as they do
Book three also sees Jonathan bitching to hell and back about having to be king, which is not a great look, and it's one Alanna calls him on. He spends most of the book alternating between pitching a hissy fit, begging Alanna to marry him, and training to take over as Voice of the Tribes. The interesting thing here is that Alanna refuses to marry Jon. He is trying to fit Alanna into his own fairy tale, and she very much goes "That isn't our relationship, I can't do that. We aren't meant to be like that, and that's ok." If I could inject that lesson into humanity's collective head, I would. It's well done and it's great.
Lioness Rampant picks up on Alanna's travels after she leaves the Bazhir, and eventually sees her return to Corus with a magical artifact to help secure Jonathan's position as king.
There's also the teeny tiny complication that Alanna's twin brother, Thom, has resurrected Duke Roger. Absolute chaos ensues, and Roger almost manages to take out the entire court during Jonathan's coronation. Nobody should have to kill an evil sorceror twice, but Alanna did.
If you want to dive into Tamora Pierce's Tortall Universe, starting with Alanna is absolutely a good choice. These books hold a very soft spot in my heart, and they're never not engaging.

god going thru the tortall big 3 (sotl/immortals/pots) again is actually so interesting bc the protags have such diff rships to, like. their liege and the capital r Realm and duty and such it's Very fun + jon himself is [presented as] such a different person in each series bc of both what his age and responsibilities are (how they differ) & simply who he is to each. like, alanna is his best friend & ex & fucking. sword arm. right hand man. she's his champion and the kind of knight who, to paraphrase lord raoul in squire, finds dark places and brings them light and all that. like she's not a general or a bureaucrat or a commander the way raoul or gary + her rship to jon is so so Personal that she can afford to a) yell at him and b) fuck off away from corus when he makes decisions she doesnt like. she's allowed to yell at him because he's a close personal friend and he's the thing she's sworn to.
the interesting thing about daine is that she is loyal to Him (she's smitten with him upon meeting him, she and numair are the crown's pet mages and she does a great deal of spycraft for jon whenever it becomes necessary) but it's through a different. idk what the word would be. lens perhaps? like, she's not sworn the same oaths of loyalty to him that any and all knights/nobles must have + she Can defy him and he would be very hard pressed to stop her lol who the fuck can take thee Wildmage to task and win + she has an informal personal rship with him if a more businesslike one than alanna does. but the immortals books do emphasize that she bears him love and loyalty and by the time pots rolls around she and numair are living in corus.
kel on the other hand is sworn to jonathan in the way that all knights are sworn to the king and doesn't particularly like him. so true babygirl get his stupid ass!!! she is a knight and her duty is to king and country but unlike alanna. unlike alanna! she puts country first. she commits treason for her people and means every word of it she puts what she considers her duty and honor above what politically /is/ her duty and her honor. shes stubbornly un-charmed by all of jon's kingliness and has only the relationship to him of a knight to her liegelord. and he respects her but has and would continue to fuck her over if it meant the machine of corus kept running. its really good i fucking love these books man

why do you think jonsa is happening tho? jonerys is different bc they are going to be enemies, but i don’t see what jonsa does for the story
so let me first lay out roughly what i think is going to happen should jonsa become canon. I personally love going down meta and graphic spirals, so I'm including links to other people’s theories/explanations/graphics of events too - also I would like to shout out @istumpysk because half these metas and gifsets were stuff I found on their blog initially, and also was the one who really convinced me that jonsa is less of a crackship and more of a contender for an actual canon theory, and from there i really found my niche in this fandom. specifically this meta about jon being the mummer's dragon is what pulled me out of my "we're never getting twow and if we do it's just gonna be that stupid dany has jon's magical baby while tyrion watches, then they all die theory" slump and lit my brain on fire again. let's goooo:
The Ashford Tourney Theory - Something Shady goes down at the tourney Petyr has planned that requires Sansa to make a quick getaway, and likely causes her to run into Brienne while fleeing. This theory for me is about hinting at Sansa's romantic future, allies, and how she's getting the hell out of the Vale: both the dark haired, Not Targ Looking Targ Prince that is the son of A Great Prince That Never Was being her romantic endgame but also it's about Brienne (/Dunk) getting her the hell out of there and becoming Sansa's number one ally and protector (with Sansa's number two being Bronze Yohn!! But he's not fleeing with her - if he helps her get out of the Vale, it'll be to cause a distraction or a fight so Sansa can slip away unnoticed. Bronze Yohn is coming with the knights of the Vale later to help defend his girl!).
The Girl In Grey - Out of options on where to go, Sansa & Brienne makes a long, fast, and dangerous trek to the only family she knows is still alive: Jon Snow at the Wall. No, I don't think Alys Karstark is the girl in grey on a dying horse; I think she's a red herring, the same as the scene where Sweetrobin destroys the snow castle, and that the real girl in grey (who slays the savage giant) is Sansa. Melisandre says that she sees "Jon's sister" but doesn't specify more than that, or how she knows it's Jon's sister, even - why would she assume Alys is Jon's sister and not some random Northern girl? Why was she so sure that it was his sister? It's because Alys isn't the girl in grey, it's Sansa, her horse dying because she's traveled halfway across the continent with Brienne and Pod, desperately trying to keep ahead of the dozens of people hunting her down.
The Blood of Winterfell - Sansa and Jon will reclaim winterfell together. This one is similar to above; just like Alys was a red herring, the scene where Sansa rebuilds the castle has a lot of foreshadowing (imo) but that isn't the moment in the prophecy Arya hears. The Savage Giant is Littlefinger, the castle of snow is Winterfell, and Sansa is going to liberate her home alongside Jon and what's left of the Northern lords.
Stone and Snow Remains - THIS is where Sansa and Jon will fall in love while fighting for the North. This is also the part where you lose a lot of people, because they think the evidence is real weak sauce but like, I also think the Jonerys "evidence" is weak af too (and no wonder, we have at minimum 2k pages left to get through!!). There's several believed foreshadowing points to this one, bare with me for this weird ass formatting because I can't do sub bullet points on tumblr:
1. Sansa's linking of snow with love and affection - "drifting snowflakes brushed her face as light as lover’s kisses, and melted on her cheeks...She could feel the snow on her lashes, taste it on her lips. It was the taste of Winterfell. The taste of innocence. The taste of dreams." along with her snow maiden and snow knight.
2. Bael the Bard and the Rose of Winterfell - the chapter where Sansa gets her period for the first time, Cersei refers to it as “flowering” a dozen times, linking being a maiden (a young girl, not quite of age or just barely of age) to flowers and several people refer to sex as ~plucking. Also notice the one who stole her from KL is Lord BAELish.
3. Aemon the Dragonknight & Queen Naerys - Sansa compares herself to Naerys, Joffrey to Aegon, and wishes for an Aemon, among the many similarities between her life and Naerys'. Jon not only calls himself Aemon, he has a deep connection with a different Aemon Targaryen. And if you’re thinking “Sansa isn’t Naerys, X is Naerys” I would remind you that Sansa as a character existed first, George purposefully had her compare herself to Naerys, and parallels don't belong to just one character.
4. Jenny of Oldstones and The Prince of Dragonflies - there's honestly a lot of parallels between them but like the Aemon/Naerys parallel, the Jenny/Duncan one stands out to me.
5. Janos Slynt - I mean. Iconic. This was the scene that made me first think about what their relationship could be in the future and there’s a reason Jonsas fixate on it. It’s about Sansa being desperate for a hero and the hero she dreamed about being Jon the whole time. 6. Societal Alienation - There's the bastard parallels here, the "it would be so sweet to see him again", the "Winterfell belongs to my sister, Sansa." It's about how Jon, through circumstances of his birth, finds himself alienated from the rest of society and reconnects with his prim and proper sister Sansa, who finds herself alienated from the rest of society as well but for vastly different reasons.
Robb’s Will - Howland is going to show up in the North, along with Maege and Galbert, with some WILD news about why Jon can’t rule Winterfell. There’s a lot of contention around this. Bran probably shows up around this time too, and Arya gets to the Riverlands to discover Lady Stoneheart and give her the gift of mercy. This is where all the inheritance stuff is going to happen and I have no idea how it's going to go down besides it's going to be messy as all fuck.
The Pact Of Ice And Fire - Jon & Sansa get secret married bc they’re in love, not siblings, & jon is the only man she trusts not to steal her claim. This isn't the only possible foreshadowing instance of a marriage either - some believe the Sandor/Sansa scene during the Battle of the Blackwater is foreshadowing as well (personally I feel that's a bit of a stretch but I wanted to include it anyway).
Jon As An Envoy - I talked about this in my "what's Jon's ending" a little but I believe Jon will act as an envoy for either Sansa or Bran to Aegon VI, essentially playing out a similar story that he does in the show with Daenerys. By which I mean, Jon is not the King because the ruler themselves do not go as an envoy, that’s stupid and dangerous, but he goes as an ambassador for Sansa or Bran, to treat with a new claimant to the Iron Throne that is gaining support - Aegon VI & Jon Connington. They will probably clash, Jon will probably have yet another identity crisis, there had BETTER be gay incest subtext, then Aegon dies, and Jon has his sixth quarter life crisis in a row.
“King” of the Gift - again, something I touched on in my Jon meta is that I think he’s going to have a hand in resettling the Gift. Personally, I think it's likely that Jon leaves to protect the claims of his siblings (see: Duncan and Jenny) and goes to the Gift to help resettle it to keep out of the way. This ending is typically referred to as the "bael the bard" ending but i like to think of it as the "brandon's gift" ending instead - though he is not physically with his family, Jon feels fulfilled having confirmed his family loves him through reclaiming Winterfell and marrying Sansa, being reunited with Arya, and being given the Gift by Bran. Sansa claims her children were fathered by a wolf.
So…what does all this do for the story?
Well, in my opinion, several things.
I think the main barrier here is that most people in the greater fandom describe Sansa's story as ~growing past childish wants~ and Jon's as ~rejecting love~ and I do not agree with either of those takes even a little bit. This is where (imo) the dividing line between Jonsas and the rest of the fandom is. I don’t think the answer to Sansa’s question “will anyone ever marry me for love” is going to be “nah" - that's not just a sad story to me (wanting to be married isn't childish! craving intimacy and understanding isn't childish! it's also not wrong for a child to be childish!), I think the idea that Sansa (or Jon) will not find another love just doesn't line up with how George approaches his story. Who Sansa's husband will be has been such a big question, and her story is so heavy into the more romantic tropes like courtly love and chivalry and the line between politics and love and identity, that the question of Sansa's hand in marriage will be plot relevant. I also think it's kinda naive of people to pretend like George isn't very interested in the sexual dynamics of the characters he writes about (yeah, sure, no woman needs a man but "needing a man" is not what this is about. look at everything this man wrote in F&B and tell me he is going to write a female character that longs for sex and desire and doesn't get it!).
After AGOT, nearly every time Sansa thinks about marriage involves her longing for love but believing she will never get it because a man will only ever love her for her claim. Giving her a man - like Jon - who not only will not steal her claim and in fact has defended it twice over already, who will love her for who she is and not what she can give him, is a really important aspect of her story in my opinion.
As for Jon, I am even more firmly against the opinion that his story is about rejecting love; Jon’s story is about wanting to be a good man, to measure up to his father ~despite~ his bastard blood. When Aemon asks if Ned would choose honor over love and Jon stubbornly says yes, Jon is wrong and it’s important to not forget that. Ned has never once in his entire life chosen honor over love; he chooses his daughter’s life over his honor, he chooses his sister & her son’s life over honor, he chooses Arya & Nymeria over honor, and on and on!!! Ned chooses love at almost turn but none of his children know that just yet - look at Robb choosing Jeyne’s honor over his own and how upset he is at the idea that Ned would be disappointed despite the fact that Ned would have understand Robb’s decision! Jon's whole arc is tied up in realizing that it is not wrong or dirty to feel and choose love, passion, and desire and if he never has another romantic arc again, I think you lose the second part of that lesson which is "you are responsible for how you act when you feel love but that doesn't mean that simply choosing love makes you a bad person."
There's also the fact that George has talked a lot about "who lives, who dies, who gets married" and yet we have not one marriage at the end of the show AND there's not a lot of guesses at what "who gets married" means besides Jon/erys (and even if Jonsa doesn't happen, I simply do not see Jon/erys happening. they are not similar enough, they will not be in the same space for long enough, and they are on wildlly different trajectories for their story, they are not getting married let alone having sex). I think Jonsa fits that bill very well.
These various theories - from Sansa being queen, Jon living in exile, The Ashford Tourney Theory, the secret marriage, every one of them - are ideas and themes that I have really been thinking about for about 12 years now. I think Jon and Sansa's relationship could fit with the themes in their stories, the overarching themes in the books, and my own personal opinions. I think it gives George a great opportunity to delve into the courtly love aspects he enjoys so much, as well as delve into inheritance, legacy, legitimacy, honor, incest (yes, that too), and above all, what George himself has said the whole series is about - love. The human heart in conflict with itself is what I think Jon and Sansa as a romantic couple does for the series.

You go back to your apartment and immediately see Jon just lounging around.
"You have your own apartment, you know?" You glare at him as you put down your bag.
"Where were you all day yesterday? I even called Oberyn and he told me you left your class fast."
"I was with Arya! Also, why are you looking for me??"
"Ygritte wanted a date." You raise an eyebrow at him.
"So?? The fuck are you telling me this for??" Jon rolls his eyes at you.
"Should I accept or not??"
"Jon. You are going to marry the girl. You'll become part of their family. Go on a date. It's not like you're busy, right?"
"Hey! I'm learning to be a kn-"
"A what? Knight? Do you think the Lannisters would allow it? Their head is part of the inner council." Jon scoffs at you.
"So is Uncle Ned!"
"Father doesn't have that much sway in that circle though, unlike Tywin." You sit besides him and sigh. "Tywin Lannister is scary as fuck. I think he has no conscience considering his treatment of his own youngest son."
"I still can't believe that you're friends with th-" You glare at him and pinch his hand before he could finish his sentence. "Tyrion! Ow!"
"He's smart. That's enough reason to be his friend." You grab his cost from the couch and toss it to his face. "Go on that date. Get to know your future wife."
"But-"
"No buts, Jon. You came here for advice. Get to know her." You smile at him. "You might actually like her."
"Fine. Fine. You win." Jon stands and puts on his coat. "See you next week?"
"We do have to study for history. So yes."
"Nice. Bye!" He dashes out of the apartment and leaves you alone with your thoughts.
'A date, huh?' You get your phone and look at your messages. Nothing new. You open your WestBook and search her name.
Daenerys Targaryen.
It seems that she's the youngest of all Targaryen kids right now. With Rhaegar being the heir right now.
You sigh at the picture. It was her with her family, all around the iron throne.
That's right. The Targaryen Family are the current ones sitting on the Iron Throne. Respected as the Family who is heading the Westeros Conglomerate and the only ones who has a connection with the dragons.
'If someone is really going to trial themselves with the dragons then it's my chance to see one.' You scroll and hum.
She's 18 Just like you. Also a freshman at Westeros University. It seems like she's studying Ruling and Taming Beasts. Both are official courses at the University.
You hum. Seems like Targaryen kids have more freedom unlike you.
'Fucking management.' You wanted to be a knight. Or maybe even a magician. But your Father pushed this course onto you and wanted no arguments. He said that this was the easiest course in the University and should be no problem for an omega like you. You shake your head of the memory.
"Fucking hells." You stand and get a glass of water for yourself.
When you say your last name, commoners either look at you with awe or disgust. Nobles usually look down on you. After all, The Starks were never on the top 3 Families in Westeros.
The Top 3 usually consists of the Targaryens, The Lannisters and the Baratheons. All three always vying for the Iron Throne.
You look at your phone again and click to message her.
You were about to send something when someone else messages you first.
Jaime Lannister has sent you a request.
You raise an eyebrow at the notification and immediately message Tyrion.
You : Is your brother on crack??? Why the fuck is he messaging me??
Tyrion replied immediately.
Tyrion : They found out that you were hanging out with me. Sorry.
You hum.
You : No worries about it, Ty. Tell him that I have no interest in him.
Tyrion : Oh. Got it. Have you got your fiancé yet?
You : Yes. Daenerys Targaryen.
Tyrion : OPPOSITE MOTTOS?????
You groan at the reminder. It felt like your father really took this arrangement out of his ass. It felt like he licked the current king's boots just for this.
And no way that it was to the Targaryen's benefits. Maybe they just wanted a new omega in their midst.
'Oh. Probably.' You realize. There have been too many beta results among the nobles. Omegas like you were basically like really rare among the nobles. Betas are like the last option when it comes to arranged marriages. After all, when it comes to pregnancy, omegas are more known to have greater pregnancy rates than betas.
You shudder at the thought then tears were on your eyes.
Did your Father arrange you to become a-
You sob as you fall to the ground.
You didn't want to think about it.
You didn't want to fall into that rabbit hole.
You didn't want to think about that way about your father.
But it's times like these that made you really want to kill yourself ever since you found that you were an omega. You sob as you hug your knees to yourself.
A breeder. What a term. It hasn't been used for five centuries but that was because people kept finding ways to disguise it.
But that was basically what you are. Easiest course. Grand apartment. The top Family in Westeros. It all fit like a perfect puzzle.
"I'm a fucking joke." You say to no one as you realize your predicament. It's why he found someone so fast. Maybe people even begun offering to him after your result was out. You didn't know. You don't want to know. You just wanted to be numb right now.
You text Oberyn.
You : I need to be numb.
His reply was surprisingly fast.
Oberyn : Numb how??
You : Like I can forget who I am.
Oberyn : I'll bring some to your apartment. Take it alone. I can't guarantee your safety if an Alpha is there with you.
You : What kind of- you know what. Fuck it. Bring it.
Oberyn : Gotcha. Will be there in a few minutes. Make sure to lock everything.
You change your clothes and wait for Oberyn. You didn't want to feel anything. Specially not this helplessness that persisted ever since you found out that you were an omega.
You hear a knock on the door and open it.
"Here. It'll last for the night. You'll feel numb af. Did you lock everything?" He asks and you nod. "Air vents? You don't want to let Alphas know you took this." You open up the air vents and Oberyn hums. "I like you, Y/N. Amongst all the nobles here in Westeros, you are one of the honorable ones." He holds out the small bag. "I get it. I have a sister who is an omega. But do not let this be a habit. I'm only helping just this once."
"I'm not going to be an addict. I just- I want to forget just for a night." Oberyn hugs you tightly and you sniff, trying to keep the tears at bay.
"Good luck, Stark. Don't be a stranger." You smile slightly at him then lock your door. You double check everything then lock yourself in your room. You get the drug and quickly consume it. You didn't know what it was. You didn't want to know what it was.
After a few minutes, you started to feel the effect and was just staring in space.
That was the last thing you remember.
-
You wake up groggily and look at the clock. 8 am. What happened?
You look around and hum.
Right. Drugs. Forgetting.
"Fucking- my head hurts." You look at your phone and see the messages.
Oberyn : Remember to take the day off and rest. You'll need it.
Jon : The date is on Saturday. Will you help me choose clothes?
You groan as you stand and get to the bathroom. You get some medicine and drink it.
"Sleep. I need more sleep."

You get up four hours later and sigh in relief. Your headache is gone. You get your phone again and hum as you see no new messages. Thank god.
You drink a glass of water and sigh in relief. Your phone rings and you see that it was an unknown number. You answer it cautiously.
"Hello?"
"Hi there, Ms. Stark." You raise an eyebrow at the unfamiliar voice. You look at you phone in confusion before replying.
"Uh... Do I know who this is?" You hear the voice chuckle and hum.
"You probably should. After all, I am your fiancé."
"What?"
"I'm Daenerys Targaryen. Can we meet for coffee?"
-
You were in your favorite cafe, one that was run by two wives. You were drinking hot chocolate when Daenerys finally arrived. Almost everyone in the cafe stopped what they were doing and stared. You can't even blame them.
The Targaryens' signature silver hair flowed smoothly through her shoulders. You were drooling. At least you think you are. You quickly wipe off your mouth as Daenerys stops in front of the counter. She orders her drink then looks around. You were spotted so you quickly open your phone and pretend you haven't been staring and drooling at her since she walked inside. You hear her footsteps and your focus immediately shifted.
"Y/N Stark, right?" You put down your phone and Jesus. She is fucking ethereal.
"Yes. Uh- Daenerys?" She smiles and you blush.
"Yes. Daenerys Targaryen, nice to meet you." She says as she takes a seat in front of you.
"Oh, um. Nice to meet you too. I honestly didn't think I would see you before our well-"
"Wedding?" She confirms and you blush.
"Yep. Most fiancés never really meet each other before so. When you contacted me well-"
"Surprise." She smiles at you. You feel your heart racing as you look at her. Shit, were you really falling in just the first date. You gulp. Yes, you were.
"So, um, what did you want to talk to me about?" Daenerys was about to answer when her name was called. She stands and you quickly try to calm your heart down. "We need rules."
"What?"
"Rules. As you are now my fiancé, you are also a de facto member of the Targaryen House and so we need to establish rules that you have to follow."
"We're not even married-"
"Yet. Yes. But still."
"No one knows about our engagement. Only the elders and us-"
"I will let the public know."
"Why?"
"Because I'm proud to have an Omega as my fiancé." There it was. A stab in your heart. Your hands shake and you clench your fists.
"What rules then?"
-
You put the laminated paper on your kitchen counter and sigh. You didn't think that Daenerys was serious but here it was. On your kitchen counter.
"Fucking hell." You grab your emergency stash of bourbon and pour yourself a glass. Your phone rings and you look at it. You answer it.
"Y/N. Where are you?"
"I'm at my apartment, Father. Can I do anything to assist you?"
"I see. Will you be able to go home tonight?"
"Yes? Is there anything happening tonight?"
"Yes. The Lannisters are throwing a gala and I need you to attend."
"Oh. Me?"
"Yes. Rob will be coming along with you."
"Oh. But I don't have any-"
"A suit is already prepared for you in the house. Go wear it."
"Of course. I will be there shortly, then." You groan and put away the bourbon. "This day is driving me nuts."

New favorite version of Steve getting called King that I have nowhere to put.
Full chivalry, including the part where that includes destroying someone. Starting in the second half of freshman year, when his parents start taking really long trips, and his house becomes the go-to for epic parties, he kinda turns into a wandering king in his kingdom.
If he sees someone that’s been beat up, he comes over, asks, “what happened? Who did this to you?” And he listens, and if you deserved it, well, he tells Carol and everyone knows by the end of the week. If you didn’t, sometime in the near future whoever fucked with you gets taken down a notch. If it’s a mutual sort of fight, he might get you to the nurse, but that’s all. He doesn’t beat anyone up himself, but he can make the right comments, Carol starts the right rumors, and someone handles it. As the parties get to be better known, he can use a ban as a threat. If someone really fucks up, he can make them a social pariah with a few words.
See a girl that’s getting picked on and doesn’t like whoever is doing it? Chats with her for a minute and makes sure to greet her by name for the next few weeks. Girl cheats on one of his teammates? Yeah, everyone is about to know she’s a slut.
He uses his favor as currency.
And to be clear, it’s not a white knight thing. He’s capricious and if he doesn’t like you already, he won’t bother to ask what happened. He’ll walk right by with no guilt. Steve is operating on his own rule book and his rules are pretty flawed and his perspective is very skewed.
And as I’m writing this I’m realizing that I want this to actually be a royal AU where he’s ruling when his father is leading a war, and he idly wants to be a good ruler, but is too isolated from his people to get it. Same as above, but make it swords and horses and lordships. He invites Nancy to dine with him and the court is stunned. Later, after getting punched by Jonathan, who really should have been executed immediately, Steve invites Jon to join him for training, and the court gossip goes insane. Someone sends a courier to the King, and that’s how you get Billy.
Also keep all the monsters.

I think what Jamie would like about Witchy!Darling is that there’s nothing they hide about themselves. They don’t have any ulterior motive or hidden agendas. Darling is just darling. The direct contrast of Jamie having to be perfect his entire life for everyone VS Witchy!Darling never having to be anything for anyone, not needing to be anything they don’t want. It’s a peaceful existence in a way that Jamie hasn’t encountered before.
“Take this.”
“This is a jar of dirt.”
“Yes.”
“Is the jar of dirt going to help?”
“If you don’t want it, give it back.”
“No!”
Imagine if Brienne met Witchy!Darling as well. She’s definitely puzzled but I think she’d also find them charming in their own way. If darling was female then I think that Brienne would have another level of admiration for Darling just on the level of not caring about what others think about her.
Yesss!!! That’s an absolutely perfect way of saying it, anon! Witchy!Darling is a complete and utter breath of fresh air for him and he couldn’t adore her more for it. He feels like he can actually be real with her. He’s not a Lannister, he’s not a Kingsguard, he’s not the Queens’ brother, he’s not even the Kingslayer or anything else when he’s with his darling; he’s just Jaime and it feels so freeing for awhile not to have to be burdened by the weight of everything on his shoulders. He doesn’t have to feign anything, he doesn’t have to be perfect. His darling expects absolutely nothing from him and it’s a relief for Jaime but in the beginning especially it had him feeling a little lost and vulnerable. He couldn’t quite place his role when it came to his darling and in a way that would allow him to reinvent himself the way he wished he could have been all this time. Not to mention his darling is a far cry from Cersei and he couldn’t be more thankful for that.
I definitely agree that Brienne would have her own fondness for witchy!Reader. The Reader is unashamedly herself and has no care for anyone else’s thoughts or opinions regarding herself. She lives how she pleases and does as she so wants without a care in the world and Brienne would admire her greatly for that. I could even see Brienne seeing witchy!Reader as a possible mother or older sister figure. Especially if she’s so very openly supportive and encouraging of the path Brienne is taking to becoming a knight. Even if that support and encouragement is relayed in the form of riddles it’s still much appreciated and means a lot to Brienne.
Also, any weird thing that witchy!Reader gives either Jaime or Brienne would be held very close to them and treasured. I can’t help but imagine Jaime specifically when he finally gets back to Cersei after everything and her or Tywin finding his ‘jar of dirt’ from the Reader and ridiculing it, demanding it be gotten rid of only for Jaime to become absolutely feral at the thought of anything happening to his precious gift from his darling.
A few other yanderes off the top of my head who would be interesting with a swamp hag/witchy!darling would be Arya, Sandor, Margaery, Robb, and Jon.

Do you think that Arya becoming the Lady of Winterfell is a possible endgame for her? Or if not, what leadership role could she possibly hold?
I have always stood by my theory that Arya Stark will be Lady of Winterfell/Wardeness of the North and follow in her father's footsteps as the Stark in Winterfell.
She will be the first female head of Winterfell/North as is only appropriate considering her arc is about challenging patriarchal constraints and she wants more than what is offered to her. She will parallel Nymeria (The direwolf names being a metaphorical representation of the Starks and their journeys) in working towards having more female power in the North. Already Alys Karstark will have more power in House Karstark, the Mormonts have always been that way and she will certainly have the support of the likes of Wylla Manderly from house Manderly.
More importantly, if Jon has his way and the Freefolk are integrated into the North, there will be all the Spearwives and leaders in their own right like Val and Morna White Mask. I can see someone like Val for example respecting Arya Stark compared to her contempt for someone like Selyse Baratheon. We see hints of the Night's Watch already changing:
The castle Jon returned to was far different from the one he'd left that morning. For as long as he had known it, Castle Black had been a place of silence and shadows, where a meagre company of men in black moved like ghosts amongst the ruins of a fortress that had once housed ten times their numbers. All that had changed. Lights now shone through windows where Jon Snow had never seen lights shine before. Strange voices echoed down the yards, and free folk were coming and going along icy paths that had only known the black boots of crows for years. Outside the old Flint Barracks, he came across a dozen men pelting one another with snow. Playing, Jon thought in astonishment, grown men playing like children, throwing snowballs the way Bran and Arya once did, and Robb and me before them. - Jon, ADwD
[Side note: This is also why I believe Jon will be KITN for a while. Others have written/explained this better than me that to enact change, our young leaders need to actually wield power. Dany can only help the slaves because she has power, same with Jon as Lord Commander. Someone like Jon could settle them on the Gift and give them the choice to worship or live as they please as long as they follow the laws of the place]
The North itself is depleted, a lot of fighting men are dead and Winter has come. After the Long Night is the time to implement reform and change and it only makes sense that the character whose story challenges issues of gender, class, war etc. will be a leader of some kind in the North, involved in rebuilding the new North. And I am sure, Arya will have Jon Snow's support to be leader of the North.
Or she will be supporting whichever brother - Bran or Rickon - as Lord of Winterfell, marry her blacksmith and settle down on some land offered by her brother. Or she will leave with Jon and live in the Lands beyond the Wall. Or, or maybe she AND Jon will marry and lead the North together. So many options, so few books 😂. We really need the next book to get an inclination of which way GRRM is headed.

Say Robert and Cersei by some miracle had a successful marriage, viserys and daenerys live happy live in essos and the others just mind their business who do you think the starklings would've been betrothed to
Robb - Alys Karstark I don't think the starks can get away with having two Southern ladies of winterfell in a row during peace time at this point so a northern lady is likely and alys is the same age, karstarks are quite powerful
Sansa- If this timeline Joffrey is nicer then him otherwise maybe Willas
Arya - It sounds but maybe jojen, ned and howland are friends and jojen would be accepting of arya being "unladylike" since her and meera are quite similar
Bran - I think ned would've convinced bran out of joining the KG to further expand the house through possibly giving him moat cailin to rebuid but he still would've allowed him to be a knight and given the manderlys follow the seven, i think wylla manderly is a good option, maybe shireen if stannis was convinced to have bran as a squire and bran proved himself worthy of her
Rickon - I think he still would've had a wild side even without his circumstances so maybe a girl from the northern mountain clans or skagos
Hello! It's an interesting topic and I'm glad you also shared your view so we can have a conversation speculating about it :)
Robb: Alys Karstark is on the same age with him, Karstarks are loyal to Starks ( and kin!) and it seems that her own father would like to see his daughter being engaged to the future Walden of the North. Actually, every noble Northerner would like their daughter to become future Lady of Winterfell and it's understandable. With that being said, I think the best choice for Robb would be to marry a Manderly girl as they control North's biggest harbour and they are a very rich House.
Sansa: Ned never showed interest for an alliance alliance with the South and neither did the former Stark generations ( with the exception of the previous generation but considering how Ned's siblings ended up, I doubt he's eager to send any of his children to the South). The Tyrells also never showed interest in allying themselves with the North before Robb was declared KITN and was involved in the war of 5 kings. So, I don't see a wedding between Sansa and a southern lord.
I guess marrying Joffrey Baratheon would be an exception Ned would have to make because you can't simply decline a royal offer (as it happened in canon). The only other southern exception would be Robert Arryn. The boy not only is kin but also the son of Ned's beloved mentor. I think he would trust Jon and Lysa Arryn to keep his daughter safe than he would trust Robert and Cersei (understandable). The more I think about it, the ideal scenario for Sansa who wanted to live the southern fairy tale would be to go to Vale ( which coincidentally is the place she currently is in canon)
Bran: I'm moving to Bran instead of Arya because I can see him being connected to Sansa's future. First of all, I don't think that Ned would deny Bran to become a knight. He might not be fond of the idea but he would allow him to do it as he planned to do in canon. Again, he wouldn't like for his son to go to Kings Landing. The only exception would be if Sansa was betrothed to Joffrey. In that case, maybe he could consider to let his son go to the capital so his sister won't be all alone and visa versa ( the lone wolf dies but the pack survives). Now, in my favoured scenario where Sansa goes to Vale, Bran could also go with her and be Brynden Tully's squire. I think Ned would trust the Blackfish the most to train his son and his friend Jon Arryn to keep an eye on the boy.
As for marriage, any northern lady could potentially become Bran's wife. Maybe even Alys Karstark, as I see it more likely Ned to choose her for the wife of his second son. But I want to say Meera Reed ( because of Bran's canon crush).
Arya: Any northern noble could potentially become Arya's husband and ofc someone who could inherit a castle would be preferred. Just to name a few candidates: Harrion Karstark, Daryn Hornwood ( if he wasn't already engaged to Alys Karstark like in canon), Smalljon Umber, Benfred Tallhart and Cley Cerwyn.
Rickon: I doubt that Rickon would be half as wild if he was raised with his whole family by his side. Once again, he could marry any noble girl. Maybe a girl who is the sole heir to her family so they can live on her castle. Otherwise, Ned would have to provide a place to live for his youngest son.

I ran the moment I saw requests were open how ab the dork squad + two face w a ex robin (maybe they got the jason Todd treatment or not your choice ) y/n who they take care of as a like sidekick + kid
Happy to hear that!
Rogues with Ex Robin Reader
Riddler
Ok, so the kid annoyed the shit out of him
They would always fight, even more than with Batman but he saw kid potential
When Y/N turned his puzzle against him almost cutting his head off, he was only pissed for a moment before rolling his eyes at Barman for giving Robin a lecture
Kid actually showed some brain, what is his problem?
Would offer kid work and, after few beat upsby them, they accept it
It's at first secret but Bayman finds out and tries to talk to Y/N but they had enough of being holded back; the fight broke off and Batman lost Robin but Riddler got new sidekick
He teaches them everything he knows, makes them new costume
Still keep fighting but now it's verbal fight
He gets used to them being there and while he bitches about them from time to time he is only one allowed to do that
If anyone is saying bad stuff about his new sidekick he whips out full blown argument why they're wrong and how Y/N is brilliant while other person is stupid
Doesn't think of himself as father but it's clear to everyone else that he is
Scarecrow
This Robin was weird, they were scared of his toxin yet they always tried to work around it, examine it, once even purposely walked into it
It got his attention
When he kidnapped them once he started talking about fear, how it pushes people and Y/N was listening with interest
He just smirked and after getting arrested he told them he can't wait for their next meeting
Next time he hears about them they're dead
He isn't shoked but definitely didn't liked that
There was finally someone else who saw his vision and of course they had to die; he would remind Dark Knight about it next time
He honesty was suprised when he saw them again, they looked think and dirty but they were alive
Scoops them and starts asking questions, turns out there were ways to come back; kid says at least now they aren't afraid of death
Jon would be the judge of that
Since they basically started a new life he asks if they're interested in a new identity as his sidekick, they were already interested in his toxin, might as well use their death reason to pursue it
Robin becomes a Crow
Most people aren't even aware of it at first because of their costume but when Batman unmasks them it's clear
"I knew this kid was a freak." One of the police officers said and Jon got to him before Batman.
While Y/N tries to get ahold of being scary, Jon is standing behind them, making sure everyone is covering in fear
Seems cold but knows when to push and when to let go
The kid isn't getting killed for 2nd time
Mad Hatter
Robin was sweet kid, he honesty had nothing against them; sure they bear him up but so did every other Robin
One day there was an accident and Y/N got separated from Batman
Jervis found them in rumbles with henchmen
He came closer to inspect them, they started moving and jumped on him
He let out a yelp and told his henchmen to get them off but they hold strong to him and he realized they were crying
Said to let them go and Robin just kept holding him, he asked what's happened and Y/N said "Batman- left m-me" sobbing
His heart break for the poor kid so he tried to hug him, Y/N seemingly not having enough strength to protest
He took them with him and gave them clothes, tea anything they need
He didn't know what to do, he didn't want to hypnotize the kid and use it as bait, they said Batman abounded them, how can he just give them back?
Thinks it's over and after few nights of talking and playing he decides to let them stay if they now will be helping him
Is so excited about it, asks if they know about Wonderland and who they would like to be; it's ends up on the mouse
Is having so much fun with them, and is ready to teach them everything; when they hypnotize someone for the first time he realized he was proud
Then they met with Batman again and he recognized his sidekick trying to get them to home just for Y/N to have panic attack
Something in Jervis just wanted to make it go away so he straight up jumped on Batman saying to let them go
They managed to get away and he is immediately looking after Y/N, making sure they're alright
Kid just hugs him saying everything is good now and he hugs back
There's no paperwork or anything official, but from that point on, everyone knows it's his kid now
Two-Face
Ok, so this Robin was pretty nice to him honesty, always refers to him as Sir, asking if he's alright after beating
Harvey likes the kid while Harv just wants to murder them even more
He kinda gets his wish when Robin falls down and breaks his neck
Harvey is running to them while shouting for Batman but it's too late
Honesty feels bad for them, Y/N was one of the most innocent kids he has met
Even Harv admits after a while that it wasn't that bad to treated with respect
So when the kid just walks past him he almost has a heart attack
Harvey grabs their arm and takes a good look to make sure he sees it right
Asks how it is possible, who, when
Wonders if that means they're going back to being a Robin but they surprisingly refuse
They tried to be understanding to rogues and it got them killed, how they can do it again?
They both understand him so after a moment of thinking they toss a coin, he either leaves them to figure this stuff out or he's taking them under the wing
Guess which won?
Harv teaches them about guns and their safety, Harvey about loopholes in law if they got caught
He's honesty pretty understanding and nice
Looks after them while on robberies, if something can threaten their lives he gets them out of them
Starts treating them with time more like his own kid which Harv makes fun of just to be shut down when Harvey points out that he asked for Y/N birthday to give them a guns with their initials
He actually goes threw with adoptions papers; probably not legal since he is criminal but they exist
From now on it's Y/N Dent

“Dead. He’s dead.”
“No.” The eunuch’s voice seemed deeper. “He is here. Aegon has been shaped for rule since before he could walk. He has been trained in arms, as befits a knight to be, but that was not the end of his education. He reads and writes, he speaks several tongues, he has studied history and law and poetry. A septa has instructed him in the mysteries of the Faith since he was old enough to understand them. He has lived with fisherfolk, worked with his hands, swum in rivers and mended nets and learned to wash his own clothes at need. He can fish and cook and bind up a wound, he knows what it is like to be hungry, to be hunted, to be afraid. Tommen has been taught that kingship is his right. Aegon knows that kingship is his duty, that a king must put his people first, and live and rule for them.”
(ADWD Epilogue)
Varys’ words to Kevan Lannister about Prince Aegon are so interesting because of the overarching insinuation that the boy has had a slew of advisors and teachers who have carefully and extensively prepared him for the task of ruling. His listed examples to that point are rather peculiar, however: a knight to train him in arms, a septa to train him in the faith, and various tutors to train him in history and languages.
Now there’s nothing inherently wrong about Aegon’s educators but one has to ask, what do these people even know about actual ruling? What have they seen about the nature of ruling and the nitty gritty of it? What experience do they have? And if they themselves don’t really know what it means to rule, what does that say of their young prince’s education?
It’s an important question to ask when we consider Aegon’s narrative foil: Jon Snow. Jon does not have the expectation of ruling. In fact, as a bastard, he knows that he can never ever get a lordship let alone a crown/throne. Yet Jon has, unlike Aegon, a crew of experienced tutors who have shown him the nitty gritty of ruling. Every single one of his on-page mentors is either a ruler or a leader of men; in addition to the other tutors he had growing up.
So I wanted to take a look at Jon’s mentors and the positions they have held to contrast their experience (and thus the validity of the lessons that they give Jon) as opposed to the lack of experience in Aegon’s crew.
Ned Stark - Jon’s first and (arguably) most impactful mentor. While teaching Jon important lessons about rulership, he was serving as the Lord of Winterfell and Warden of the North; thus making him one of the most powerful men in the entire realm. He then went on to serve as Hand of the King - the most powerful official save for the king. The irony is that Ned didn’t teach Jon as a successor. Robb was the one meant to succeed him. Yet Jon absorbed his lessons all the same.
Benjen Stark - we don’t actually see much on-page mentorship from Benjen, yet he still is one of Jon’s many father figures in the series. He is a a man of the Night’s Watch so he is sworn to hold no lands or titles. Yet as First Ranger, he is undoubtedly one for he highest ranking officials in the Watch and potentially a skilled warrior. He takes on the role of the knight or leader of men among Jon’s teachers.
Tyrion Lannister - despite being an ‘outsider’, Tyrion comes to hold considerable power. He is an exceedingly learned and intelligent man and managed to impart important life lessons during his short time with Jon. He rises to become Hand of the King and later Master of Coin. Though he doesn’t actively teach Jon how to rule, he’s still an important part of Jon’s character development.
Maester Aemon - one of the anomalies in this list. Yet his impact on Jon’s life cannot be understated. He is a teacher to Jon; we have various references to Jon going to Aemon for advice on how to lead. Aemon also gives Jon advice meant for kings: “kill the boy and let the man be born”. What makes Aemon an interesting addition is that he is a would-be king. And an interesting contrast between Jon and Aegon is that both parallel Aegon V; Jon more organically, Aegon rather artificially. If we remember, Aegon V was a hidden prince who ultimately became king. This is the very same trope that Jon and Prince Aegon are following. And it’s interesting that Aemon, Aegon V’s brother, gives advice on governance to Jon; the same advice given to the unlikely king. So it’s Jon who is carrying the torch of kingship from Aegon V, not Young Griff.
Jeor Mormont - one of the most direct mentors in Jon’s arc. Not only is he a surrogate father to Jon, he does what Ned never did: he directly grooms Jon to be his heir. Jon gets to watch Jeor actually govern the NW as his steward but it’s interesting that he shadows the LC through servitude. Though Jon is intended to succeed the Old Bear, he has to humble himself; he has to follow before he can lead. It’s a contrast to Aegon who would hold power over most (if not all) of his tutors.
Donal Noye - the other anomaly save for Maester Aemon. He is a humble Blacksmith. Yet he has been in the service of kings (having served the Baratheon boys who would all end up as kings). He plays an important role in bringing Jon’s ego back to earth and helping him sympathize with those less fortunate than himself. Despite his humble origins, he does briefly take command of the Wall during Mance Rayder’s attack and then transfers that command to Jon, purely because he believed in Jon’s ability to lead (and he was right).
Qhorin Halfhand - another who takes on the role of a skilled master at arms for Jon. He is an undoubtably powerful warrior. But he is also a leader of men. He teaches Jon important lessons on leadership during their time together beyond the Wall - e.g., to lead your men you must first know them. And in true ‘fridged mentor’ fashion, Qhorin dies so the young prince can take over and grow as a leader.
Mance Rayder - the King Beyond the Wall and one of the most important leaders in the books despite spending all his time in the North. Mance’s role as a mentor for Jon is doubly important given that he also takes on the role as a Rhaegar proxy. Despite Jon coming to him as an (undercover) enemy, he’s still able to impart powerful lessons on how to command an army and wrangle support from different factions of men. Jon learns a lot about diplomacy from observing and being under the KBTW. Mance is a skilled warrior, commander, and politician. A charismatic and gifted man - the picture perfect king for Jon to emulate.
Tormund Giantsbane - a leader of the freefolk who rises to become an unlikely ally for Jon. A skilled warrior and proven leader (we know that he took charge of a couple of thousand of freefolk), Tormund becomes important when there’s a transfer of power from Mance to Jon as leader of the freefolk.
Stannis Baratheon - by law, he is the rightful king of the seven kingdoms. According to prophecy, as Melisandre says, he is the promised messiah. Despite a less than ideal personality, he’s still an important part of Jon’s political arc in ADWD. Arguably a man of immense administrative potential, Stannis is also one of the most successful military commanders in the series; which is great for Jon since he also learned from Ned, who ran an undefeated streak as a battle commander.
The total count now comes to: two kings, two Hands of the King, a ruling lord, three warriors, one wise maester (who has counseled a king), and one commander. That quite a resume for Jon. All these men have some experience leading men and commanding armies, however big or small. So Jon’s preparation has been quite thorough.
What a stark contrast between the two boys, then. Varys’ words give us a roadmap of a “perfect ruler” (or as perfect as one can be) yet when we actually take the time to examine what we see in the text, Aegon is not at all suited for that role - Jon is. In fact, not a single character in ASOIAF has had the intensive preparation to rule that Jon has.
It’s beautiful irony. The prince, the one promised to rule, is actually quote underprepared for the task of it. Meanwhile the bastard, who is at best promised a life of servitude, is the one with the most preparation (and experience) for rulership. It’s the way Aegon, as a narrative foil to Jon, acts as one who validates Jon’s journey. There are certain things needed of a ruler. Jon has them, Aegon doesn’t.
Winds isn’t out yet so we don’t yet know for certain where these two boys will end up. But I’m almost sure that young Prince Aegon is doomed and though he may hold the throne for a while, he will not be the king at the end of the story. And it just might be his inexperience that ultimately dooms him. So what does that say for Jon then? Aegon can’t hold the throne as he’s unprepared for it, but what about Jon who is?
#jon snow#aegon vi targaryen#young griff#asoiaf#valyrianscrolls#yes I am a Jon will be king at the end of the story believer - that’s the archetype#and so far he’s been following it despite several diversions#he’s the closest character we have to a true to form retelling of King Arthur#Aegon is there to validate Jon’s rise to kingship - he’s not the ruler we should be looking for because Jon is#Aegon is what happens when you make a young boy take on such a terrible task without adequate preparation#he is what happens when your prince in hiding relies almost entirely on blood and his father’s name#which is ironic given varys’ insistence that aegon isn’t entitled - we see that he actually is#Jon is what happens when you actually prepare your king to rule#a prince in hiding who relies on ability and experience - that’s why it’s so important that adwd serves as a training arc for him#and more poignant is the subversion to the trope#unlike most princes in hiding who learn of how special they are quite early in their journeys#jon still knows himself as a bastard - one with no entitlement to anything#Aegon is similar to many fantasy princes because the story starts out with him already knowing who he is#so basically Aragorn#His story has already been written as far as he knows#‘and king Aegon took the throne and ruled wisely for ever and ever’#He knows he’s special and he expects that specialness to carry him to greatness#Jon doesn’t have that so he can only try - try to rule wisely#he can try to rule kindly and equitably#and he’s not perfect - he fails as we see in ADWD - but he tries anyway#remember Aragorn? Perhaps the most famous hidden king in fantasy?#well who do you think answers the question ~what was Aragorns tax policy?~#spoiler alert - it’s not Aegon!#my stuff

What's the social structure of this au? Because you said Jon's just a witch, and only has a bodyguard because he gets kidnapped. But he's going to parties with nobles, can afford finery and Martin's wages, (or otherwise has a sponsor/patron) and both Sasha and Gertrude are witches but also Ladies.
Oohoo boy-
Nothing is set in stone yet, but imagine a structure similar to the Witcher universe. Witches go to school to study, and from there, they can go and become advisors in small kingdoms where they can get gifted titles like Lady and Lord, but they don't get actual lands or servants. The kingdoms are based around the Fears, with most avatars being nobility. The witches are glass cannons- they can be really powerful in some situations but otherwise, kinda weak so is a common thing to have a designated knight bodyguarding them if they leave their palaces.
Not just witches are capable of magic, but if they finish school, they are respected and believed that they can control powerful magic without it affecting their bodies and minds negatively - not like Jane Prentiss, for example. Not every witch goes to serve nobility, there are plenty of small village witches, and Gertrude also tried to leave the palace and become a bog witch kinda deal.
For this au, I made the 'witch factor' the characters' connection to the eye in canon. I didn't see either Tim or Martin really eye aligned, so I made them knights instead.
Jon is not an advisor, but Elias' protégé and he can afford to employ Martin. They got invited to the gala because Jon is like a diplomat when he is traveling even though he is just there to investigate magical cases for Elias.
Hope that helped

So all the “Young’s” die an early death and it seems like they all will die to war crimes (Robb/Young Wolf at the Red Wedding, Daeron/Young Dragon under a flag of truce, Aegon/Young Griff more than likely after surrender his forces surrender) How do you think Harry/Young Falcon is going to meet his end?
Hi there!
This ask reminded me that there is another Young X to consider, and he fits this pattern.
It had been years since his last vigil. And I was younger then, a boy of fifteen years. He had worn no armor then, only a plain white tunic. The sept where he'd spent the night was not a third as large as any of the Great Sept's seven transepts. Jaime had laid his sword across the Warrior's knees, piled his armor at his feet, and knelt upon the rough stone floor before the altar. When dawn came his knees were raw and bloody. "All knights must bleed, Jaime," Ser Arthur Dayne had said, when he saw. "Blood is the seal of our devotion." With dawn he tapped him on the shoulder; the pale blade was so sharp that even that light touch cut through Jaime's tunic, so he bled anew. He never felt it. A boy knelt; a knight rose. The Young Lion, not the Kingslayer. But that was long ago, and the boy was dead. (AFFC, Jaime I)
This Young Lion, too, died in a crime, if you will: Jaime killed him by killing his king. Though in all honesty he died long before that if he ever lived. Jaime thinks of his knighthood as quite divorced from his other choices even before Aerys. His sordid relationship with Cersei, his lie to Tyrion and the crime against Tysha that followed - were those the actions of a "boy", washed away by his rise to knighthood? Was he ever a true knight if he never questioned himself? Jaime hates the name Kingslayer, but what did the Young Lion ever do but ignore the suffering of innocents in the name of duty?
Robb too "killed the boy" long before his actual death, harrassing the smallfolk of the Westerlands, freezing out his mother's advice and the plight of his sisters - married to his sword. He was the Young Wolf - but like Jaime, he couldn’t live up to the promise enshrined in that name. And the Young Dragon - a boy responsible for the death of thousands, dead before long and his "achievements" falling apart - enough said.
There’s a curse of failure attached to that nickname more than mere death by betrayal. They are young forever because they never get to finish what they started.
The curious thing about Young Griff and the Young Falcon is that both nicknames are erroneously applied. Neither are griffin or falcon in truth. Aegon is a dragon and the sun’s son. Harry is a checkered tablecloth (House Hardyng) several links removed from the last falcon ancestor. Quartering the Arryn falcon in his coat of arms is an arrogant overstep that banks on the death of a child.
Both will fail to live up to the expectation placed on the nickname - for Aegon those would be the expectations of all those who made him “Young Griff” to fulfill their plans, for Harry the expectation to actually inherit.
Both are likely to die, too. Aegon’s death seems entirely inevtiable but whether it involves parley or surrender or a fiery battle, it will be a crime, either way. He is the rightful Targaryen heir - or he is the king by popular acceptance based on his achievements before Dany’s arrival. Dany killing him will have no righteous angle, and his death will end all dreams of a Targaryen restoration.
Harry...
When Robert dies, Harry the Heir becomes Lord Harrold, Defender of the Vale and Lord of the Eyrie. Jon Arryn's bannermen will never love me, nor our silly, shaking Robert, but they will love their Young Falcon . . .  (AFFC, Alayne II)
When the boy dies, the Young Falcon is born. Except the one won’t, so neither will the other.
I imagine his death - which is probable - will be less of a betrayal (unless Lyonel Corbray goes rogue) and more of a mirror to the death of Ser Hugh at the Hand’s Tourney. Inexperience, perhaps even arrogance will meet reality, and put a sudden end to what was supposed to be a promising future. Though he does have the benefit of Sansa’s best wishes:  "I pray he proves a worthy knight." So my guess is that his death will perchance be noble in its own way, like Aegon’s is likely to be. Like Waymar Royce’s.

All the emojis, please! For Jon Snow!
Thank you! :3
🐅 - Characterization: character habits, personality, etc.
Before he thought about joining the Night's Watch, Jon had really intense teenage angst over running out of time to reach greatness. You know, "Barristan the Bold got his nickname by thirteen! The Kingslayer was knighted at fifteen, and I still lose to Robb when we train together!! At my age, The Young Dragon was already conquering Dorn!!!" kind of thoughts, followed by morose confidence that after eighteen, all chances to become a hero are over.
🦄 - Characters' physical appearance.
I strongly believe that Jon is short. Not even average height like Ned: if they met again when Jon is all grown up, Jon still would be shorter. And when they finally meet with Sansa, she's also going to be a bit taller :3
💖 - Romantic relationships or ships.
Jon/Val is going to be endgame, much to everyone's frustration, because Martin can't be assed to flesh Val out further than "cool and sexy warrior lady".
Lol, I mean, I think it's pretty clear by now that Jon and Dany (and possibly Tyrion) will become a thing at some point and there's going to be a lot of messy feelings on all sides. And while I doubt Dany's storyline will be the same *insert complicated headcanon here*, I think Jon's series ending got some of the main beats right. Basically, I think he will survive the final battle and feel like he outlived his propose, break up with/betray Dany in some non-stabby way, get disconnected from the society and move beyond the (destroyed forever, tyvm) Wall to that tower he and Ygritte talked about to mope in peace, get rare visits from the family and surviving friends and have casual sex with Val.
💛 - Familial relationships.
Growing up, he and Robb were crazy competitive over everything, from who learns Ned's bannermen's sigils faster (Robb) to who can hold their breath underwater the longest (actually Theon, but he doesn't count because he's older, so Jon). But while for Robb it's always been in good fun, Jon really needed to win every single time and had to learn not to get upset at least outwardly.
🕊️ - Platonic relationships (friends, enemies, etc).
This one is heavily affected by the show, and I recognise this. Still, I maintain that, while they can't stand each other, Jon and Thorne recognise that they both are actually competent people, of which there's a real shortage on the Wall. So if Thorne returns from his raid while Jon is dead, he's going to be really pissed about his assassination. He's going to be even more pissed when Jon comes back to life.
🗡️ - Fighting styles/combat.
While Jon is outstanding at sword fighting by the Watch's current standard, he still has a lot to learn and is not a legendary fighter.
✨ - Worldbuilding or background story elements.
Jon was really fascinated with Luwin's telescope (called Myrish eye here, apparently) and would constantly bother him to get to look through it. He had to stop himself from asking the same from Aemon, when he first arrived at the Wall.
🍁 - Physical locations, flora & fauna.
Jon can easily withstand cold and actually loves snow and winter, but can't bear hot weather. If this boy ever gets to the Reach, not to mention Dorn, he's getting cooked immediately.

are u in any fandoms? what are ur interests besides whump? u don’t have to answer i’m just curious!!
someone’s asking me about my interests i can’t NOT answer
this got a bit long tho so i’m putting it under the read more for people who don’t care/are only here for the whump
OKOK. so i’m kinda in the starkid/nerdy prudes must die fandom rn but i know for a fact if i finished adventure time and started watching fiona and cake, that would quite literally become my entire personality for the next 3 months because simon and prismo (and marceline and princess bubblegum and all my other favorite characters) make me insane. but i haven’t done that because well. i’ve gotta write tllr yknow..
anyway, my absolute most favorite pieces of media of all time are undertale and deltarune guys. i cant put in words how much those games mean to me holy shit. as i’m writing this i’m sitting next to my jevil and sans and spamton plushie and they are saying hi. anywayyy yeah i was in the deltarune fandom for a bit it was fun. spamton is silly fucked up creature. jevil is my all time favorite tho
AND THE MAGNUS ARCHIVES… my favorite thing ever fr. y’all. LISTEN TO TMA SERIOUSLY YOU’LL PROBABLY LIKE IT!! it’s a horror podcast and it’s seriously the best fuckinf thing ever it’s so amazing seriously. it’s a bit hard to get into at first because season 1 is less story driven BUT HOLY SHIT. AHHHH ITS SO FUCKING GOOD. jon is one of my favorite blorbos ever and so is michael because he’s a silly distortion guy. just trust me and listen to TMA it will actually change your life.
also i love the amazing world of gumball so fucking much. i wasn’t allowed to watch cartoon network as a kid (idk why??) so i first watched tawog last year and holy shit holy shit it’s my favorite thing ever. rob. ROB!!!! ROB IS MY ALL TIME FAVORITE CHARACTER. SO IS MR SMALL. AHHHH!!!! anyway i love tawog i’ve drawn a lot of fanart and even wrote a 60k word fanfiction (about what happens after The Inquisition because that ending fucked me up) that i’ve Never and will probably never show anyone because it’s probably Not that good. but it was sooo Important to me back then. tawog just means so much to me it :))) it changed me as a person. nobody’s a nobody and everybody is weird like you and me.
i also really like hollow knight! i haven’t played it in a while but i was at 111% completion on one of my playthroughs (CURSE YOU PANTHEON 4). i’m also super fucking excited for silksong obviously and i will say this now: WHEN SILKSONG FINALLY RELEASES… i will probably go on hiatus here LMAO. sorry but guys. SILKSONG…. honestly same for new deltarune chapters. the second chapters 3, 4, and 5 release it is sooo over for me. i probably won’t post much here for a few months during that. but that’s fine!! i’ll never abandon tllr but sometimes some things are more important to my silly little brain :3
gravity falls quite literally changed my life in 2018. like i can’t even explain it, but it’s how i was introduced to online fandoms and fanart in general. dipper LITERALLY made me trans (not literally but pretty much). it’s how i started watching other amazing cartoons and series i love, it’s literally what made me get into drawing art and writing and stuff. it’s what made me start making ocs. it literally made me an artist guys. which is how i started writing. without gravity falls and it’s effect it had on me, this account might have never existed?? i’m being super dramatic but wowww. i was so autistic about that silly cartoon
minecraft i love. i’ve been playing minecraft for over a decade and won’t stop because it’s like, probably a special interest of mine? i’ve watch minecraft youtubers forever too, hermitcraft and the life series are my favorite. i’m a huge grian fan too, been watching him since the evo days. anyway if u play minecraft and wanna play with me sometime, feel free to ask!!! :D i love making new friends and playing video games with people!!! let’s make a world together!!!
also i like terraria and stardew valley, and animal crossing new horizons but i haven’t played that in a few years. hmm other games i like are oneshot game, NITW, omori, celeste, cuphead, fnaf (although i’ve only played the first 5 games and am super super behind on the lore), ori, dead cells, untitled goose game (this is for u anon), and probably more i’m forgetting! feel free to recommend me some video games and we can even play together :3
other series i love are the umbrella academy. soooo autistic about this show it’s fucking AMAZING!!!!!! klaus is my favorite character. anyway i also like what we do in the shadows. it made me super autistic about vampires (before i watched this show i kinda thought vampires were cringe IDK WHY I’M SORRYY). the netflix show lucifer made me insane a few years ago and is what probably indirectly inspired me to give Dew wings. i also like our flag means death, breaking bad, moon knight, and camp here in there (another podcast i HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend, will wood made the soundtrack!)
i LOVEEE FINAL SPACE!! avocato has been my pfp on this account forever and now i feel like i can’t ever change it (i don’t want to). final space is seriously amazing!!! but it was cancelled and basically got fucked over by the networks- infinity train style. idk, stuff happened and it was removed from hbo max so there’s not really anywhere to watch it (legally) except for netflix international iirc? but it’s getting removed from that too i think. super fucking sad :( it ended on a huge cliffhanger too BUT there is a graphic novel being made!!!! super excited about that!
other cartoons i like are over the garden wall (dressed up as wirt for halloween last year), the owl house, adventure time, regular show, steven universe, infinity train, bojack horseman, rick and morty, mlp, the midnight gospel, and so much more i’m forgetting. OH anime i like are death note, demon slayer (haven’t caught up yet on the latest seasons tho), and MOB PSYCHO 100!! vampire in the garden on netflix is really amazing as well.
this is sooo long but now i gotta talk about my favorite music artists. WILL WOOD (AND THE TAPEWORMS) IS MY FAVORITEEE. I ALSO LOVEEE JHARIAH!!! AND HARLEY POE!!!!! top three of all time. i also like toby fox obviously, and glass beach (LITERALLY GOING TO SEE THEM IN MARCH AND I AM SOOO EXCITED!!!), mcr, shayfer james, weezer, mitski, lemon demon, set it off, tally hall, gerard way, and probably more i’m forgetting. i also like musicals!! (i was in the spongebob musical earlier this year for school! i was larry the lobster :))
so guys. GUYSSS. IF YOU LIKE MUSICALS, GO WATCH NERDY PRUDES MUST DIE!!!! OR JUST WATCH THE ENTIRE HATCHETFEILD TRILOGY!!! WHILE UR AT IT, WATCH ALL THE STARKID MUSICALS ACTUALLY!!! this is my current hyperfixation. the lords in black are amazing, npmd is amazing. i love everything about it. go watch it seriously, it’s fucking awesome and the soundtrack is AMAZING!!!
i think this is it. this got super long but i’m super passionate about my interests so yeah. this is pretty much everything. one very important thing (literally my special interest) that i didn’t mention are my other ocs. i have wayyy more ocs that are completely separate from the tllr ones. i don’t wanna post about them here though, cuz they’re not whump related and i want to keep my main account separate from this account. but they’re my favorite blorbos in existence so…
if u WANT to know about my other ocs, u can feel free to dm me for the username of my other fandom/oc account. that’s where i post other stuff that i don’t post here, like my fanart and my other oc stuff. i don’t post writing or anything like that there, so ur not missing out on that.
anyway those are most of my main interests! things i didn’t mention that im also really interested in are reptiles (snakes specifically), and animals in general. i have two leopard geckos named Lars and Alphys and i reallyyyy want a pet snake but my family hates snakes :(( anyway i’m rambling
thanks for the ask!!
