ship ask: razumovsky/igor grom 😏😏😏😏😏😏

when I started shipping it if I did: oh, I will just put this comic book part here and that's the moment I started shipping them, however, idk why, must be censorship, but in the original comic book Igor was completely naked, there were no pants, not like you could see anything anyway, but come on, he was naked :D

my thoughts: oh man, I have so many thoughts of them, like, this is one of the rarest pairs that I wanted to write anything for, and I used to, might be because I had no laptop with me to gif at that time when I was literally so much into major grom, I was so active on twitter and was active in fandom, so my love needed to be expressed different ways since I could not gif, so I was drawing and writing. My love for them only grew when the movie came out, and you know how much I loved that movie, I fell so hard for Igor and Sergey from the movie. Can't wait for the second one, can't say I am super excited, like I wait for it, but I am not in MGPD fandom anymore, I am not active on twitter either, I don't do anything for Razgrom, but I think it will all hit me back once I see anything related to them on screen, cos every time I see Sergey I am like 'MA BOOOOOOI MY SOOOOON' I love him, I love these characters and I hope I won't be disappointed with the second movie. I know the movie will be different from the comic book 'the game', but I hope some parts will stay there at least, like, I really want Razgrom in their black/white suits playing chess hehe, not sure they will ever come to the part where they shoot 'the time of the raven' comic book, the ark with Kutkh, but if they do, you will hear me yelling no matter where you are :D cos in the comic books Razgrom are literally two parts of Kutkh's soul, the raven god, like dark and light sides and I absolutely love that story. I need more of them in movies. I only come back to read the comic books when there's crossovers where Igor and Sergey meet, but it has not happened for so long... not sure it will ever happen again.

What makes me happy about them: everything related to Razgrom makes me happy, I can't even put all of it in words, just everything :D

What makes me sad about them: that while the comic books are interesting, I read a little of 'igor grom' comic books, some of 'plague doctor' which were after the events of Major Grom and the crossover books, and they are fine, but somehow, when the story revolves around Igor AND Sergey it is 1000x times more interesting for me, and somehow always better. I know there are interesting and fun characters, some of them I like myself, but I just love those two together and want more. And it makes me sad that they don't have more crossovers with them, and I hope that in the movies they will not separate them right away, like, literally two parts of the same god's soul, I want it to happen in the movies, I want all the drama and angst and pain and I want them to have all those weird dreams, like, just give me Razgrom and I will be happy.

things done in fanfic that annoys me: crossover ships put into fics without warnings

things I look for in fanfic: oh, the angst, loved the fics where they explored feelings, explored the connection between Sergey and Igor, fics about them being literal soulmates, being the dark and light sides of the same soul. Loved the fics post the time of the raven events.

Who I’d be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other: Igor with Julia, obviously, the movie version, cos she is amazing. And Sergey... well, I don't want him to end up with Oleg, cos I don't like that ship, but seems like there's nobody else Sergey could be with if there's no Igor. But maybe I will leave him alone :D in the comic books.. well, Julia is dead in the comic books, so idk who could be with Igor, I read some of 'Igor Grom' and there was this lady, I don't remember her name, but somehow I don't see Igor with her either, so maybe I would leave him alone too :D Maybe in 'Major Igor Grom' (honestly bubble come up with better titles for your comics) there's somebody with whom he could be, or Sergey in 'Plague Doctor', but I have not read them, so idk.

My happily ever after for them: my happily ever after has nothing to do with reality, and will never happen, so I would like them to work together at least, not on the same side maybe, but you know, meeting here and there and sometimes helping each other... mutual respect maybe :D

who is the big spoon/little spoon: movie Sergey is lil spoon, comic book Sergey is chaos in bed so you either fall from the bed or you end up with Sergey all around you :D Igor can be both big and little spoon.

what is their favorite non-sexual activity: going to museums all around the world, and eating shawarma on the roofs somewhere looking at the city at night :D

Smart, good at reading people, good at adapting accordingly. She can fight, she can use and modify alien tech. More street smarts than book smarts but when people underestimate her she uses that too.

Erica Ortegas, Star Trek: They are a pilot. They have flown manually through asteroids and nebulas, without sensors. They have skimmed off black holes to slingshot. If they didn’t do evasive manoeuvres right everyone would die. They are driving the ship. That’s pretty critical. Bonus mention for sword skills in that fantasy nebula.

Dr. Julia Ogden, Murdoch Mysteries: She's Toronto's coroner in 1895, and helps solve many many murders. She also becomes a psychologist and a surgeon, and helps the suffragettes. As a woman, at the turn of the 20th century. She also learns to fight in many layers of dress

Naomi Nagata, The Expanse: There is nothing that this woman can't build, fix, or frankenstein. Also, she survived being thrown out of an airlock by knowing (better than the person who threw her out) what to do in the vacuum of space. She fights with all that she has, and leaves no one behind, and has the biggest heart and heaviest conscience of them all.

Garnet, Steven Universe: Garnet can see into the future! She leads the whole team! She can punch anything into submission AND throw in one-liners when you least expect them!

Death of the Endless, The Sandman: Death of the Endless is the anthropomorphic personification of the concept of death, and she is literally the best at her job, i.e. carrying, ferrying or otherwise welcoming souls of the dead to their chosen afterlife, colloquially known in Sandmanverse as the Sunless Lands. Her duty is everything to her and about her, though Death also adores her siblings equally, even if she's very busy all the time; as she put it most poetically, "When the first living thing existed, I was there waiting. When the last living thing dies, my job will be finished. I'll put the chairs on the tables, turn out the lights and lock the universe behind me when I leave." And her vibes are SO. FRICKIN. FUN.

Zari Tarazi, DC: Zari doesn’t need a superpower or combat training for success because she has social skills that rival next to none. She knows her femininity can cause people to underestimate her so she uses it to influence her way in to places most other heroes would need force to access. Her deep understanding of people has helped save the world more than once while running a successful business besides.

Allison Blake, A Town Called EUReKA: Allison was a Department of Defense agent working as a government liaison between Eureka and the Pentagon. She was once a medical doctor and has 2 PhDs. At one point she oversees the main laboratories of Eureka, at another she's Director of Operations for Global Dynamics.

Bad Wolf, Doctor Who: Controls all of time and space, makes Jack immortal, disintegrates the Dalek fleet, is the intelligence of The Moment and is always protecting the Doctor.

“The Dark Pictures Anthology” where it’s the same, but the tone/feel of each game is flipped around:

Man of Medan

During the Iraq War, U.S. Navy SEALs Alex, Brad, and Conrad, along with their CIA handler Julia, are sent out on a top secret mission to infiltrate a cargo ship in the Pacific Ocean. The ship, belonging to arms dealer Fliss, was supposedly carrying Saddam’s WMDs. The mission was simple; neutralize the ship’s crew, take control of the ship.

However, the mission goes south when the Navy SEALs and Fliss’ mercenaries come into contact with the long-lost ghost ship, the Ourang Medan. And to make matters worse…there are monsters onboard, seeking new victims.

Little Hope

Director James Clarke and his film crew consisting of his other family members Anthony, Anne, Dennis, and Tanya, run a ghost-hunters TV series in which they visit America’s most haunted areas. For their latest episode, they decide to visit the ghost town of Little Hope which, according to legend, was one of the towns that was terrorized by America’s first serial killer, H. H. Holmes.

What starts out as a typical episode turns into a night of terror when the Clarke family realizes that they are being stalked by a Holmes copycat killer. A copycat who is seeking to recreate his idol’s most infamous kills.

House of Ashes

Treasure hunting married couple Eric and Rachel King, along with fellow hunters Nick Kay (who Rachel is having an affair with) and Jason Kolchek, decide to visit Iraq as part of their quest to find the long-lost gold of Naram-Sin of the Akkadian Empire. Tagging along with them is their Iraqi guide Salim Othman, who warns the foolish hunters about disturbing the resting place of those inside the “house of ashes”.

Things go south when the group gets taken captive by mercenaries led by Dar Basri, who are also seeking the gold of Naram-Sin. Eventually, the two groups find the entrance into the supposed House of Ashes…but not everything is what it seems inside.

The Devil in Me

College professor Charlie and his students Kate, Mark, Erin, and Jamie are invited to the island mansion of Granthem Du’Met, a reclusive millionaire whose home is also considered a historical site. What should’ve been a simple visit turns into a night of terror when the group realizes that something about Du’Met and his island is off. They don’t know what it is, but something about the island feels familiar.

It’s later revealed that there was no actual field trip; Kate Wilder was hallucinating Charlie, Mark, Erin, and Jamie the whole time. It turns out, the island was actually a psychiatric hospital and Grantham Du’Met was her doctor/therapist helping her work through her traumatic memories. Charlie was her father, Mark was her husband, Erin was her sister, and Jamie was her sister-in-law. They all died in a house fire, with Kate being the sole survivor of that incident.

The girls stood in the small bathroom stall with a mixture of annoyance and ignorance (Julia). Y/N tilted her head at Nikki as the older girl looked away from her glare, “You know the more you glare, the more wrinkles you get.”

“I should kill you right now.”

“How was I supposed to know the door was going to break?”

Nikki took out a pack of cigarettes and Y/N slapped the small white box out of her hands, “You're not going to smoke when we're stuck together. This whole place says no smoking.”

“If I turn my head, I don’t see the sign anymore. Which means I can smoke.”

“Guys, I need to go to the bathroom.”

The two girls looked at Julia and then back at each other, “Fuck.”

An hour ago

The organ started playing the famous song that brought two souls together. The soft melody played through the church as everyone stood up to see the bride. It was Nikki’s cousin's wedding and she begged her roommates to come with her. Nikki hated her cousins (well she hated her whole family). They always acted like they were better than her because they were doctors and CEO’s. She only went when her mom bribed her with paying rent for three months for the girls, why would she say no to that?

Y/N looked down the aisle with an excited look but it dropped when she saw Julia...dressed in all white. Julia was in a white satin floral dress and a white pearl clip in her hair. Y/N looked away and looked at Nikki who was already looking at her, “Is she wearing white?”

“I’m sure she has a reason...”

“Y/N, who the fuck wears white to a wedding if you’re not the bride.”

“I mean there's colored flowers on it...”

As Julia walked down, everyone stared at her disgustedly but she didn’t seem bothered with the looks. She saw her roommates and waved at them with a wide smile. Y/N closed her eyes as she glanced up with a frown to whisper to herself, “Please give me strength.”

Julia stood next to Y/N with an excited look, “The uber took forever to get here. Did the bride already walk out?”

Y/N sighed and looked down the aisle to see the bride glaring at them. She nodded her head and looked at Julia with a stern look, “Yeah, she did.”

Julia turned her head away from Y/N to look at the bride with a wide smile, “She looks so beautiful. I love the lace work on the skirt.”

When the Ceremony ended, the girls stood in the waiting room with drinks in their hands. Every time a person walked past them, she overheard their whispears and wanted to hide from everyone. If she was them, she would talk bad about them too but that didn’t make it easier. Julia didn’t seem to be bothered by anything as she continued to drink her champagne, “I met someone.”

Nikki raised her eyebrow at her, “You met someone? Who?”

“It was someone from Bts, Hoseok I think... He was very sweet, we got drunk and fucked but he wants to hang out again.”

Y/N’s eyes widen and her mouth dropped, “You had sex with Hoseok?”

Julia nodded her head and shrugged her shoulders, “I told him I wasn’t looking for a relationship and he said that was perfect for him.”

“So friends with benefits?”

“Acquaintances with benefits.”

Nikki nodded her head and turned towards Y/N with a small smirk (something that made her nervous to see), “What about you Y/N? You were with Taehyung last night...did you get dick down?”

Y/N slapped her arm and looked around to see if anyone heard them, “Don’t say that...and no I told you it wasn’t happening any time soon.” For now...

“How can you keep your hands to yourself? It's clear he likes you.”

“Nikki, you don’t always have to have sex to make it known that you like each other. You can go on dates and that's what I want with him.”

Nikki raised her eyebrow and took a sip of her drink, “So you really like him?”

“Yes...I do.”

Julia smiled at this and brought her glass up to her confession, “That’s good Y/N. I’m happy for you.”

“Julia put your glass down.”

A group of older women walked past Y/N but stopped to look Julia up and down with disgust, “You should be ashamed of yourself.”

They walked off and Julia looked at Y/N with a frown, “I don’t think your dress is that bad.”

“You think they were talking about me?”

“It's probably too colorful.”

Y/N glanced down at her blue dress and then back at Julia’s dress, “Julia have you seen what you're wearing?”

“A floral dress? It's great for spring”

“The dance floor is now open! Let’s welcome the new married couple!”

Julia smiled at this and downed her drink before placing the glass on a table. She clapped her hands excitedly and looked at the two girls, “Let’s go! This is going to be fun!”

Y/N watched Julia run into the ballroom, pushing others to get there (making more people talk bad about them). She glanced down at her dress with a frown and then back at Nikki, “I thought this dress was cute...”

“It is cute, Julia is just...Julia.”

The two girls went into the ballroom when the crowd went down but they still overheard some of the gossip, “They’re probably going to last for a month before they divorce...”

“She’s a doctor, why would she go for some office worker? What a stupid choice...”

Y/N glanced towards Nikki who seemed unfazed by the older women gossiping. Y/N frowned at this and she intertwined their fingers together. She rubbed her knuckles with her thumb as Nikki sent her a small smile, grateful that someone cared for her. As soon as they entered the ball room, Nikki dragged her away from everyone and went to the bar. Sitting away from everyone. Nikki looked around and then back at Y/N, “My family are evil and leeches...that’s all they are.”

“Let's not think about them tonight. We can still try and have a good time.”

Nikki looked at the bartender and nodded her head, “I need more alcohol to deal with these people.”

“Just be careful...I don’t want you getting sick because of people you hate. They don’t deserve your health.”

“Yeah, yeah...so, are you ever going to tell me about last night?”

Y/N glanced at Nikki and then at the dark wood beneath her fingertips, “T-There’s nothing to say.”

“Bullshit, now tell me what happened.”

And Y/N did just that with wine in her hand. She talked about how they ate together and afterwards watched a movie. She didn’t remember the movie because she was too busy kissing Taehyung (and doing other things). She was going to stay the night but remember the wedding so she opted to leave to make things easier. He had his manager drive her to her apartment as they sat in the back sharing laughs and kisses. Nikki smiled at this, “Wow, you really like him. Do you see yourself dating him?”

“I mean I would want that but I like the pace we're out right now. I like texting or facetiming him, maybe it can be upgraded to a date soon.”

“He better ask you out. With the way he grabbed your ass, that means he wants you.”

“Nikki stop.”

Nikki let out a laugh and she looked at the bartender to order another drink but stopped. She grabbed Y/N’s wrist harshly, making Y/N confused. Nikki quickly left the bar with Y/N behind her confused, “Yah! Nikki, what the hell are you doing?”

“Gotta go...” Y/N rolled her eyes and stopped walking to rip her hand out of her grasp. Nikki sighed and looked at her with a frown, “What!?”

“What’s wrong?”

Nikki sighed at her and placed her hands on her hips, “I saw my ex...��

“Oh...Catherine.”

“No, the other one.”

“Megan?”

“Ding ding. She’s been texting me lately about getting back together but she only wants to be with me to get money from my parents. Now let's find Julia and get the hell out of here.”

Y/N nodded her head at this and followed Nikki through the “dancers”. Their eyes landed on Julia who was talking to one of Nikki’s aunts. The only thing that Y/N heard from the conversation was “Always wrap it before you do it.” She had many questions but she didn’t want any answers. Nikki ripped Julia out of the conversation, not bothering to say anything to her aunt. The roommates quickly made their way to the exit but stopped when Nikki heard her grandmother’s voice echoed in the lobby.

“Fuck, fuck...to the bathroom.”

No one questioned the decision, they knew her grandmother could be...too much. They went inside the furthest stall, locking it tight. When Y/N looked around the stall she raised her eyebrow, this stall was different. It didn’t have any gaps underneath and was rather like another room (a very small room) rather than a stall. Nikki sighed and leaned against the wall, “I fucking hate this family so much.”

Y/N nodded her head at this and patted the top of her head, “I know...we should stay here for ten minutes and then leave. I’m sure your grandmother will be gone by then.”

“Oh she will. I’ve heard she was the one that planned dinner so I know she'll be there to watch those poor workers.”

The girls sat on the floor (the best they could) and played uno on their cellphones to have the time go past faster. It was an intense game between Nikki and Julia while there was no way for Y/N to win at this point, “Nikki, just let me win. I never win.”

“That sucks for you.”

Y/N rolled her eyes and opened her text message from Taehyung with a smile on her face. Ignoring the yelling between the two, even though it was funny.

Taehyung:

So...you're playing uno in the bathroom?

Y/N:

Yes...well losing at it

Taehyung:

Well, I was wondering if next week you would want to go on a date with me? Jin showed me this private restaurant and I thought...it was perfect for us

Y/N:

Ohhh! I would love to go on the date...if you want lol

Taehyung:

Maybe we can dance on the rooftop or you can let me eat you out with the sunset on us

Y/N:

I-I...

“I WON!!”

The yell from Julia scared Y/N and she dropped her phone in her lap. She couldn’t tell if her heart was beating fast from Taehyung or Julia. Nikki glared at her and crossed her arms over her chest with a pout, “Lucky, anyways. We should go, I’m sure the witch is gone.”

Nikki was the first to stand and walked over to unlock the door but there was a long pause. Y/N and Julia looked at each other with blank faces as Nikki stood there. She turned around and gave Y/N a fake smile, “What would you do if I told you that the door won’t open...”

“The fuck you mean the door won’t open.”

“The door won’t Y/N, like I unlocked it but it won’t open...”

Y/N blinked her eyes at this and pushed Nikki out of the way. She pushed and pushed but the door didn’t budge. She quickly turned around with her back against the door, “It won’t open.”

“Yeah, tell me something I don’t know.”

“What the hell are we going to do?”

Julia raised her hand and Y/N looked down at the tiling before looking back at Julia, “Yes Julia?”

“We can die here.”

“We’re not dying...we can’t afford funerals.”

“I should kill you right now.”

“How was I supposed to know the door was going to break?”

Nikki took out a pack of cigarettes and Y/N slapped the small white box out of her hands, “You're not going to smoke when we're stuck together. This whole place says no smoking.”

“If I turn my head, I don’t see the sign anymore. Which means I can smoke.”

“Guys, I need to go to the bathroom.”

The two girls looked at Julia and then back at each other, “Fuck.”

Y/N tried kicking the door but it still didn’t move. Nikki stood in the corner with her hands in her hair, “Julia I swear to god you better clench.”

“I can't! I need to go now!”

Y/N kept kicking at the door but stopped as she let out a loud groan. She turned towards Nikki and then looked at the small gap at the top, “Get on your knees, Nikki.”

“Oh, kinky.”

“Shut the fuck up and do it.”

Julia started to jump a little as she looked at the ceiling with sweat starting to form on her face. Nikki let out a groan when she felt Y/N’s flats hit her back harshly, “Fuck can you be nicer?”

“No, because we’re locked in here because of you. Now push up.”

Nikki raised up slowly as Y/N started to climb over the stall but stopped when she saw Nikki's grandmother on the toilet. Her eyes widened at this and slowly moved back down. She looked at Nikki with a scared look, “Nikki...your grandmother has a hearing aid right?”

“Yeah? She usually keeps it off because she doesn’t want to hear anything, why?”

“Your grandma is next to us.”

“Fuck.”

Extended ending:

Y/N and Nikki stared at the wall with blank looks. Y/N glanced at Nikki and shook her head, “Next time we should hide our faces.”

“Listen, I didn’t think about that...Julia are you done?”

“Almost~”

Y/N sighed and shook her head, “You owe us pizza...shit you owe us lunch and dinner for the next week.”

“That’s fair.”

There was a long pause in the stall and a sigh behind them. Y/N raised her eyebrow at the sigh, “Julia, is everything okay?”

“I need to shit...”

“Oh fucking hell.”

It's been… over a year since that freaky, dirty, stinky, weird shit happened on that boat. I like to think I'm handling it well.

I mean, as well as someone can handle… what happened.

Alex is doing fine. He has a relatively normal sleep schedule which… is more than most of us can say. He's been doing really well in med school. I really think he's on his way to be like. A real doctor! A real real doctor! I'm proud of him.

Brad's… doing alright. Kid's resilient. I can't even imagine seeing the shit that he did- with that pirate shooting himself and the hallucinations and… and you- just, seeing it all at such a young age and doing as well as he is. The anxiety's starting to get better after a year. Or… at least that's what he's told us.

And of course! I'm sure you want to hear about Fliss. She seems to be doing fine over in French Polynesia. We call like once a week. You know, after going through that night together and talking on the phone a lot we've actually gotten pretty close. I take back what I said about her. She's not a bitch after all. I shouldn't have said that.

I shouldn't have said a lot of things, Connie. I'm sorry for all the times I called you an idiot and- fuck. I'm sorry I lied to you. I'm not doing so well actually. The panic attacks have been getting bad again and I can barely face Mom and Dad since- God, since I couldn't protect you.

I know you're my big brother and you're supposed to be the one to protect me but- If you're the oldest and you look after everyone then who looks after you? I should have. I should have saved you and stuck with you but I didn't and now-

I don't even know why I'm writing this. It's not like you're gonna see it. Do you have any resources for older Doctor Who fic? I'm aware of A Teaspoon And An Open Mind, but for a show that's been going since 1963, I haven't been able to find any of the properly old stuff!

If it helps refine, I'm just looking for quantity. No strong preference about era or Doctor. I suppose I ship the Doctor/the Master, but that's definitely not necessary.

Interesting question. Pre-internet, you'd be looking at zines or, in some fandoms, a "circuit" where people handed around unbound stories. Since it's a UK show, it's possible you'd be looking for zines that circulated only within the UK (that may be less documented by US fandom historians).

Fanlore is pretty good for Western live action fandoms and zines. I think I would start there, looking for old Who stuff.

The Doctor/Master page says this of the early days:

Most of pre-internet Doctor Who fandom is not currently documented online. We do know that early Doctor Who fanfic was, like a lot of scifi media fandom, largely zine based and focused on gen, but with some het and a small amount of slash. Doctor/Master was perhaps the most common slash pairing, although the Doctor was also written with various male companions.

The oldest Doctor/Master fic available online as of late 2010 is "Ring of Truth", by The Android, published in Uncharted Waters #10 and Dyad #13, and the connected "Island in Time" by Julia, which was published in Uncharted Waters #1.

Of online fic, it says:

Before the start of the new series in 2005, most Doctor Who fanfic online was hosted at alt.drwho.creative, the connected archive The Panatropic Network (1998- 2002), and, from 2003, A Teaspoon and an Open Mind. The newsgroup and Panatropic allowed slash and adult fiction, and this included a small amount of Doctor/Master. The most significant Doctor/Master story from this era may have been "Bitter Aloes" by Anne Ellis, a story set during the fifth Doctor era that included themes of non-con, darkfic, and bdsm. This story became embroiled in an ongoing wank in late-1990s Who fandom. As a result Panatropic established a separate Adult section, and some Doctor Who slash writers became less willing to participate publicly in the fandom.

What all of this is telling me is that the earliest stuff still up online will probably be on Teaspoon and that whatever was going on in zines has not been as well documented and digitized as TOS or S&H or some other fandoms.

The pages and categories listing DW fanzines can give a sense of what was once out there.

This isn't a fandom I know well, but you may be expecting a level of activity that simply wasn't present due to DW being a big fandom now. It was hugely popular with geeks back in the day too, of course, but that doesn't guarantee a fic type fandom.

14. I love this fic so much! It's everything I ever wanted--Eliot as a pirate high king--and Margo, Kady, Julia, and Penny all make excellent pirates! Best of all--Quentin as ship's doctor--and of course--all the great swashbuckling--scenes of Eliot and Idri, but especially Queliot--Quentin is a hero, yes--Eliot is spectacular--I love them so much--everything about the sea--Quentin's tragic backstory with Alice works so well--and yes, this fic is hot--OMG I just don't even have words for how much I love this fic. SO MUCH FUN. Thank you, @summerstede❤️

15. This fake dating Queliot fic is incredibly cute and funny and yet also deep emotionally. It makes so much sense to me, all these pent up emotions and just why they're being so careful. It's very sweet and gives me a whole new perspective on what "boring" means when you're in love. And for Queliot. And feels like a very Mosaic sentiment. Thank you, @lizardkingeliot❤️

Following "What You Know Now" in the Timeline 9 series, but able to operate beautifully as a standalone fic, this fic shows how Alice and Kady bring Charlie back from being a Niffin--how Alice helps Charlie--it's just this really, really beautiful deep dive into a sibling relationship, showing how much they've always meant to each other. I love it so much! It's so touching and true! Thank you @official-mermaid ❤️

19. This is such a beautiful coda to Timeline 9. Even though it brings up a fascinating and heartbreaking new story problem that might never be resolved (not sure if the fic will be finished--I hope so! I subscribed!)--it is SO WORTH IT to see Eliot and Quentin together post "What You Know Now," enjoying their lives together, seriously loving one another so much. I love it! 20. This fic has so much love and so much heartbreak and So Much Love. Among my many, many favorite things are goddess Julia being able to feel how much Eliot loves Q; her telling Q about this continued to give me hope for them throughout this story; and the amazing way one can see how much Eliot loves Q, even through Q's POV while Q himself is doubting it. So many beautiful touches like the gifts related to the Mosaic (all of them, no spoilers). This is beyond fake dating for me (seeing as how Q has told his dad from the beginning that they were together--long before they were). Anyway--I just love it. Thank you @rubickk7 ❤️

So, I watched the failed pilot for the 2004 Dark Shadows reboot, and there's a lot of weirdness there, but I can't get over casting the very hot Matt Czuchry as Willie Loomis.

Like Hot Willie is not a concept I can wrap my mind around. John Karlen is a reasonably good-looking dude, but he was never one of the smoldering romantic heroes on the show (at least not as Willie, maybe they let him have that role in Parallel time or the past). Jim Fyfe isn't bad looking either, and was obviously uglied up to play 91 Willie. Matt Czuchry? They give him a scraggly goatee and glasses and baseball cap and still can't hide the hotness. I mean, shortly after the failed pilot, he was playing Rory Gilmore's hot, rich boyfriend Logan on Gilmore Girls:

Maybe that was part of the point? After Willie is bitten and comes under Barnabas's thrall, he has lost the glasses (always Hollywood shorthand for "this character is hot now") and is talking about how he feels "stronger" since meeting Barnabas. Maybe they were going in a different direction for the Willie-Barnabas relationship in this series.

2004 Willie seems set up to be more likable from the beginning. Karlen's Willie and even 91 Willie (despite being a comic relief caricature) were shown as deeply unpleasant guys with established bad reputations in Collinsport pre-Barnabas. Hot Willie is kind of Shaggy-like, makes awkward jokes and doesn't seem to love his job, and comes across as kind of a goofy loser at worst. He even has a girlfriend who pushes him into opening the Collins family tomb to look for treasure, removing some of his culpability there. (Barnabas kills her, but decides to give Willie a make-over.) Willie doesn't seem at all afraid of Barnabas, and Barnabas is never violent towards him after the initial biting scene, although he does get really close and briefly hold a dagger against Willie's neck in a very homoerotic moment.

I'm curious as to what the show had planned for Willie and Barnabas, and I am 100% sure fandom would have shipped them, because holy shit, that dagger scene. Newly-released Barnabas said, "I will drain two women to death or near-death, and I will make this hot young guy even hotter and then turn him into my live-in manservant." There are already people shipping original series Willie and Barnabas - not my ship of choice, but I get it, more power to you guys. I actually think the 91 series is even more homoerotic, with Willie becoming deeply loyal to Barnabas within a couple of episodes, gazing at him in adoration, and sitting there in rapt attention while Barnabas reads from Sarah's diary, even though 91 Barnabas continues to react violently whenever Willie annoys him. I'm sure it's meant to be Willie viewing Barnabas as some kind of abusive father figure or older brother type, but replace uglied up 91 Willie with Hot Willie, and fans would be all over it.

Anyway. Hot Willie. I'm not opposed to the concept, it's just weird. The only character that I object to making young and hot is Julia Hoffman - the woman is an experienced doctor and that shit takes time. She can be hot, but not young. I was going to complain about young hot Julia in the 2004 pilot, but apparently the actress Kelly Hu was around 35 or 36 at the time, and yeah, that works.

I am Carlos Valdez, Jade, Eclipse, Carman Sandiego’s twin. Child of Dexter Wolfe and Carlotta Valdez. Adoptive child of Shadowsan-sama and formerly all VILE faculty.

Isabella and Carlos were brought to the Isle of VILE, as babies by Shadowsan, raised among thieves as Black Sheep and Jade.

Doctor Bellum always had her crazy plans so she took a baby and weaponized it, filled it with deadly science.

Black Sheep and Eclipse, Lambkins, one joined the academy naively, one was already on the dark side.

Note:

The squad at school include Graham, Antonio, our big brothers figures, me and my twin, Lambkins, lastly Ginger who didn’t graduate from last year.

He isn’t really Ginger but nobody knows his name and he is cool with the nickname i gave him.

While Black Sheep hangs around the campus, i go to assassinations or assistant missions. A more active Cleaner.

Back to narrative:

After escaping from VILE, they steal from them as the same person, Carmen Sandiego. When apart is “A” instead of “E”, Carman Sandiego.

By Eclipse who was a faculty-in-training, Cleaner-in-training, he knew all the dirty things he needed to know.

The Twin still sees Shadowsan as their father, Carlotta Valdez who was dragged into this madness as their mother, Hideo who was also dragged into this madness as their Uncle.

Also VILE has too many girlbosses i mean there’s a coach that could snap you in half and two lesbians.

I’m pretty sure that was a joke about she uses poisons too much and it got on dad’s nerve.

How I feel about this character: fail loser (affectionate). no but he was set up to be SUCH a cool character. he was shadow-san's replacement that had been built up to for the whole season, he'd been foreshadowed since S1 EPISODE 3, he was the reason VILE could remain hidden and impervious, he had a sword in his cane, he GOT CARMEN ARRESTED. ARRESTED ARRESTED. and then he himself just got tricked with like no episodes otherwise and was like aaughh nooo dont mindwipe me look neal the eel neal the eel and then rotted in a cell for another whole season. what a letdown All the people I ship romantically with this character: same thing as i put for mael....no one but i enjoy a good interfaculty ship when it comes around My non-romantic OTP for this character: idk he's just funny with a bunch of people. Ooo okay this one is really interesting and I have Thoughts™

Bobby Catesby, also known as the Shady Dealer, is the funky little guy who sells you black market good from a dumpster in the Village. Julia Chaney is the Wellette who tried to make her own homebrew drugs, screwed up the chemistry, and ended up murdering her entire household in a drug-induced violent outburst.

Julia buys the bulk of her chemistry ingredients from Stewart Adams’ shop, but there are bound to be things even he can’t get his hands on. I could see her going to Bobby for anything she couldn’t get the chemist’s.

One of the more interesting points about Julia is that, from her notes, she can surmise she’s trying to cook up a homebrew Sunshine due to the price of buying it direct from Sally. While Bobby sells some of the stuff himself, it’s likely around the same price as Sally’s (if not marked up).

There’s an implication there that Julia Chaney was either off her Joy or trying to be. While it’s unclear whether it’s a conscious choice, or if she started having a poor reaction to Joy and was trying not to be sent off to the Garden District, I find the later more interesting. But regardless, the fact remains that for whatever reason Sunshine has become a necessity in her life, and her pockets aren’t very deep.

I could see her going to ol’ Catesby’s dumpster shop now and then for ingredients and for any odds and ends she can’t acquire elsewhere. They strike up little conversations and a friendly sort of fondness grows between them. They’re both Wellies with a touch more self-awareness about the state of things than their neighbors, but neither are willing to give up the minor comforts of the Village to give up the Joy act and go full Downer.

While they don’t ever speak about it bluntly (they are still Wellies), Bobby becomes someone Julia can talk to about her minor grievances with the state of the world. There’s never enough to eat. Toxic fumes blocked the way to her friend’s house and she missed her Rummy game. Her husband has been more and more insufferable the longer she’s been on the yellow pill. Has he always been like this? It’s better than being alone and, without her allowance from him, she won’t be able to scrape together enough for food, much less Sunshine. And then she’ll be off to the Garden District or taken away by some doctor.

Every time she visits, Bobby always manages to get a sale out of it, even if she’s just stopping by for a chat. He is running a business after all. But he does enjoy their little chats and gives her a special deal if she’s having a particularly bad day.

Julia’s a bit more fond of him than she should be, considering her husband. While nothing would ever come of it, their feelings towards each other aren’t romantic, but aren’t strictly platonic either. He’d cut her even more of a deal on sales if he could, but then he’d be making no profit at all and he does have a business to run.

The last time Bobby Catesby sees Julia Chaney, she in good spirits. She doesn’t want to spill the beans, but she does let on that she got her hands on something that is sure to turn things around in her life (Sally's chemistry notes). No more penny pinching for Sunshine in her future. He tells her that’s brilliant news and cracks a joke about how he hopes this doesn’t mean he’ll be losing her as a customer. She says if it all works out, she’ll have the means to be his biggest customer yet.

They wish each other a lovely day and a promise to chat again next week.

Next week roles around and Julia hasn’t stopped by the dumpster shop. Another week the same.

Word on the street is that the Chaneys have gone on holiday and the Mrs. is to blame.

Bobby Catesby’s business carries on as usual, but he misses their little chats, and wonders if that new venture of hers is what finally sent her full Downer, poor thing.
