Key visual for the console game released!!
It's all of Kukugumi + Amemiya, Masai and Judy! I like that they're going with an artstyle resembling the anime. Makes sense, since they're bringing back Judy and El Dorado was a central element in the movie. Timeline-wise, the game will take place post Gekijouban during the last summer of their 3rd year - again makes a lot of sense since we even see Junna & Karen practising for the play in the movie. For the roles, looks like there's some double casting going on. Personally I can't wait for MayaKaren (as Alejandro?) and HikaJun (Salvatore?) tag teaming. But most importantly they put best girls Amemiya & Masai at Position Zero!!!!!!!!!

can u convince me to watch bravern? gurren lagann is the only mecha anime I've ever seen. should I watch it even? thank you.
i can do my darndest!!! 🫡 i definitely think it's worth a watch even if you've only seen ttgl - i've watched bravern with a few friends whose mecha experience starts and ends with evangelion, and they had a fun time!!! it's also standalone and only 12 episodes, so it's a pretty quick and easy watch!
anyways in terms of convincing you the first thing i will include is the OP, because from the moment i saw this i was like. i must watch this immediately. and i have been hooked ever since!!! and also it is sung by bravern (the main mecha) himself and it RULES. it does kinda spoil the gimmick of the first episode (the first 15 minutes or so try to sell the show as like. a serious war drama fslkdjfh) but it matches the tone of the rest of the show much better so i don't think you really lose much:

and i'm also gonna include the ED because everything about the show that ISN'T captured by the OP is shown in the ED…………i swear they made it this to give their audience a chance to wind down from how homoerotic the actual show itself is, LMAO.

in terms of things that might appeal to you as a ttgl fan - katsuyuki konishi (kamina's jp va) has a small but very funny role, LMAO. on the whole, bravern is also very much about characters surpassing their own limitations, and also the show surpassing its own limitations at the same time! i wouldn't say that the plot/stakes are exponential in the way that ttgl's is, what with them going to space and making universe-sized mechs, but it does give a very similar feeling of "surely this is as far as they'll go, right?………..OH NOPE NEVER MIND" imo!!! it's also so very much about the power of love that it got my hater ass rooting for the earnest yet bizarre romance that occurs, LMAO. i'd say that while ttgl's theme of "love conservative" isn't quite as explicit in bravern, it still applies!! overall bravern knows exactly what it's doing and loves every moment of it, just like ttgl does, which i think is a huge part of why i personally got sucked into it so hard LMAO.
also, the show is just fucking hilarious imo. the dialogue has so many funny out-of-pocket moments that made me genuinely laugh aloud and the situations that the characters get into feel like every time the crew behind the show was presented with the chance to make a decision, they chose the most unhinged option available in the best way possible. a non-spoiler example of this is that for some reason, the suez canal is still blocked in the bravern universe????????? like, this took me out when i saw it, because. WHAT IS THE REASON
honestly the one thing that really comes nowheres near ttgl is in its animation (of course), though i will say that bravern's 3d mechs look really good and are some of the best i've seen outside of studio trigger et al's recent work with promare/griduni!! also akira amemiya (who did a good amount of key animation in ttgl) did this cut in the OP which imo rules
i hope you enjoy it if you do check it out!!!! it's such a wild ride on the whole but it's really a special show and it brings me so much joy!!

Celebrating 10 Years of Bad Demon Designs!
10 years ago today, on September 19th, 2012, I was living in Japan, doing my usual morning routine of eating breakfast (probably a bowl of Cisco’s BIG Choco Saku Saku Rings cereal) and checking forums on my laptop for news. Shin Megami Tensei IV had been announced shortly after I arrived in the country only a few months earlier. Excitement was at a fever pitch; moreover, a friend and I had made plans to attend Tokyo Game Show later that week. I’d see the newest trailer up close and personal. Absolute thrills.
But I wasn’t prepared for what the forum hubbub had in store. The week’s TGS-themed Famitsu issue had leaked, and its SMT4 cover story brought with it the two-page spread seen above, firing the initial salvo of guest artist demon designs.

I was never quite the same after seeing this image, inasmuch that it permanently altered my relationship with Shin Megami Tensei. My initial reaction from the morning has been preserved (time displayed is American EST, 13 hours behind JST):
The suffocating silence surrounding Kaneko’s presumed involvement with the game (art-wise) finally resounded with scoops of dirt covering his lowered coffin. An Asmodeus-sized punch to the gut that set me off... a wee bit, lol.
But it was ultimately a learning experience. Almost immediately, the news prompted me to deeply examine what made Kaneko’s designs flourish and the guests’ flounder, at least for the sake of forum arguments. Very nearly 10 years of Tumblr later, I’m still analyzing and answering questions about demon designs, so I have Asmodeus and his stupid keys to thank for that.
The post-Kaneko years haven’t been 100% bad, though for the current Doi epoch the key word is “inconsistent.” A succulent Fionn mac Cumhaill here and a savory Mephisto there combine with a burnt Zeus and rotten Inanna for quite the unappetizing stew. Better than the overall spoiled gruel of the SMT4 guest artists? Sure, but both are equally unsatisfying.
10 years on, I’m still not “over” Kaneko and why should I or anyone else be? The void he left is huge and will probably never be filled--that’s just reality. But the great thing about unique artists with unique minds like Kaneko is that their work has no expiration date.

The Unicorn Triple Rotor AZ-1 by RE Amemiya and GReddy.
Unveiled at the Tokyo Auto Salon in 1996, RE Amemiya showed this one of a kind, heavily modified kei car. Most people know RE Amemiya from their work with Mazdas and rotary engines but Autozam technically was a Mazda. During their economic boom in the 90’s Mazda developed a handful of brands that served different purposes and Autozam was their kei car line.
This little compact kei was not to be messed with though, weighing just under 2,500 lbs, the car was powered by a 20b triple rotor engine pushing 400 hp. The car utilized brakes from a Ferrari F40, transmission from a Porsche 962C, and Bilstein parts throughout. The only original parts from the AZ-1 were the iconic gullwing doors. Only one of these cars was ever made, originally painted red before it was sold and repainted white by the new owner.

One quick question, what do you think the other witches brooms look like? The Mogeko witches who’s brooms haven’t been shown in their official art. 🤔🤔🤔
i don't remember which of the witches even have brooms, so i had a look at their official art. i think a lot of them likely have one befitting of their character design, such as;
Amemiya would have a life-sized lollipop or a candy cane.
Kagimori would have a key-shaped broom.
Ptomain is the witch of poison/sickness, so she probably uses that rack with the cannula as a convenient broom.
Shiroame has a pretty basic one, but the white brush rains down little particle-like snowflakes, so she leaves behind a small trail of snow wherever she goes. i just think it's cute.
Starlit Night might have a regular one, with just a golden star on one end. but i like to imagine she's one of the few of her kind who can float/levitate without a broom.
i'm not sure about the more 'abstract' witches, like Bloody Mary, or Sagan. curious to hear your own thoughts on it, nonnie.

Saw a post on Geats saying that Ace barely changed after losing his DGP memories while Keiwa's personality just changed while Mich (if i recall their wording right) was a bit more calmer and Neon, just be more timid... yet I wonder if OP kinda forgot that when a DGP player was retired from a game or lost the game as a finalist, they don't just forget all of their DGP memories -- they forget and lost the will to wish/want the 'desire/wish' that they wrote on their respective Desire cards for that specific DGP tourney.
Just like how Amemiya Hiroki forget his desire to still pursue the dream to make WeatherHearts a successful indie band, or Sumida Kanato forgetting about wanting the world be destroyed, and so on...
So that explained why Ace's personality barely changed since aside from losing his DGP memories which should encompass all of his past lives memories of the DGP... Ace only had his desire to 'become part of the DGP staff' removed from him. And while that wish was made as a roundabout way for Ace to find info about Mitsume, that wish was not tied to Ace's wish to find mum. That's why Ace's personality barely changed. It'll be a diff story had Ace actually able to write in his wish to be able to see/find mum. 😃
So why Keiwa's losing his DGP memories changed/messed him so much? That's cos that wasn't the only thing that Keiwa lost. Keiwa's World Peace wish that he wrote down without thinking, was tied to his wish to make Sara happy and not let her cry again. Keiwa's world peace wish was tied to him having such positive and hopeful attitude as well as his kindness and empathy. Not to mention his love for tanuki soba since the memories that makes him love tanuki soba should be tied to memories relating to the Sakurai fam -> had smth to do with Sara's happiness -> connected to him wishing for 'world peace'.
So what happens when Keiwa's desire for world peace, his wish to make his sister happy etc removed from Keiwa's psych? He no longer felt any attachment to tanuki soba that was his fav food, he lost his selfless and kind personality to be charitable so he gain a habit to keep buying lotteries and he lost the drive to keep going to job interviews no matter how many times he failed cos he find it pointless to keep trying. All that remain was his cynical mind so is it a wonder why his personality changed?
[That said, imagine what kind of Keiwa we'd get if: Keiwa lost the desire/forgot the wish to revive all of the defeated players/victims of the DGP. Cos this was what I been thinking during the last Geats meta on how Ace would let Keiwa win the fox hunt since he didn't want Keiwa losing the desire to want that wish.]
A Michinaga who lost the desire to 'crush all Kamen Riders' would've definitely be more 'calmer' or stable/normal since that Mich would no longer bear misplaced hatred on random DGP players because of a grudge that he no longer remembered. The guy who no longer remembered why he hated Ace with a vengeance wouldn't have thought much about seeing a young celebrity up close but still would be so giddy when said celebrity offered to give them an autograph without any extra charge. Wouldn't YOU be excited if you could meet and get autograph and take pics with yo fav toku casts without needing to pay anything?
That Mich who no longer remember why he wanted to crush the 'people' that had a hand in Tooru's death, would have just be satisfied with going to work at the construction site, and since whatever happened with Mich's dad had nothing to do with why Mich lived by himself... we don't see much else that would've turned Mich into a diff person.
A Neon who lost the desire to find her 'Prince Charming' who could be a key to her venturing out from her very sheltered chaebol life and find her true happiness, would've end up just be satisfied with sticking to her sheltered life since she lost her reason/motivation to keep running away from home and document her adventure to find her true love!
While I can't say that losing her original wish really made her be 'timid', this Neon wouldn't have minded continuing her life of being constantly accompanied by bodyguards and would've just accepted anyone her mother choose for her to marry since she'd think that mum knows best. I mean, arranged marriages should be pretty common amongst the rich ppl society 😃 (Also the very fact that Neon barely changed much from her usual carefree rich girl persona - minus her NeonTV project - after losing her DGP memories, basically proved that aside from craving genuine love from people which should include genuine love from her parents... Neon's life as a rich chaebol girl wasn't really THAT unhappy or suffering as some people try to claim.)
And now for a bit of a dark what-if scenario. If Taira-san didn't actually die during that second round of the treasure hunting game... if he was just retired during the next round or retired in his current round due to losing his arrow buckle (either it was stolen from him or he dropped it and couldn't recover it before the time limit), would that meant that Taira would have forgotten his desire to save his sick son? Then what would've happened to the son then? The only reason that Ace end up secretly helping to cover the kid's medical expenses was because Taira told Keiwa about their reason to join the DGP before they died. So is it a 'good' thing that Taira died? 👀
And this was one of the many things that haunt me (occasionally) when I thought of the possibility that some of those player that died in the previous games or the ones that Mich crushed their core IDs during the Desire Royale who may have similar wishes as Taira. (Aka having a really desperate wish - that was not really trivial like sm1 claim - that couldn't be easily achieve using normal means/efforts) What happens to them 😃?
That said, enough of me rambling nonsense 😃
