Everyone asks whether or not Goku would win in a fight against Superman, but I haven't seen anyone ask if Vegeta would win. Maybe because the answer is obvious
Vegeta: If goody-two-shoes gets his power from the sun, then I only need to blow it up
Goku: Vegeta, No!
Vegeta: VEGETA, YES!

Dragon Ball SD has a few “humor pages” in black and white at the end of each volume.
For some reason I can’t find all of them in English, but I do have the ones in French so here’s a selection! (this is part 3)
Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4 (will be edited as posts go live)
This is from Volume 8!! It was published in May 2015 when Rez F came out ;)

Wouldn’t it be funny if Chichi didn’t find out she was pregnant with Goten until later? And, it’s actually the remaining Z fighters who found out about it along with Gohan because suddenly, they feel this enormous ki around their area. Krillin and the others thought Goku was back from the dead so they flew over to the Son household. Even Gohan was puzzled as to where that energy was coming from but then when they met Chichi, they were almost certain that it was hers.
But, different at the same time. This is an incredible ki, an uncontrollable one.
A saiyan.
That was when they realized she was carrying another mini half-saiyan.

What are some rare characters you love that you think people don’t draw or write about enough
Do Max and Dex count I love them and I feel like I'm approximately 80% of the Helix fandom rn lol
Doug Peterson and Russ Frushtick from Law Abiding Citizen - the fandom has gotten real quiet over time but I still love them so much ♥ There's a lot you can read into or leave silly with their dynamic, I still wholeheartedly recommend the emerge, transformed series as one of my favourite interpretations of Russ especially 💕
The Editor from Jazzpunk - he's just a silly little guy! It's honestly such a shame that he's only really in the last chapter, I would love to see him explored more, he's the worst ♪
Tatsumi Souichi from Koisuru Boukun - genuinely one of my all-time favourite characters, and The Only Good Tsundere as far as I'm concerned lol. I'm gonna write about him! I've got my fanfic and video essay sitting in my drafts, but like agh!! He's so interesting!!! So beautifully flawed - he's internally consistent which is my Favourite - and watching him grow and change while still being himself over literal years has been a truly unparalleled experience as a reader 💖
Luke Wigglebig and Florette from Pajama Sam: You Are What You Eat From Your Head To Your Feet - I joked before about being the only person on the internet who ships them but like, I'm pretty sure that's actually true lol. Even just more fanart of them by themselves would make me happy, they're so cute!! Especially Luke, his design is adorable
And then probably a more well-known one but I haven't been following his fandom popularity lately haha, Fai D. Flowrite from Tsubasa - him, Nova, and Watanuki move in and out of being my CLAMP faves, though Fai is probably the most complex of the three of them. And he's a trash man! A garbage fire of a wizard ♥ I love him
#This also made me realize I didn't have a Jazzpunk link in my taglist over on Drabbles lol - fixed now!#And also that I apparently have a fairly wide margin for ''Characters who I want to see more of'' and ''Characters I want to make more of''#How rare are we talking here 'cause uhhh#If you wanna get into fancharacters/OCs/etc. I have perhaps Too Many of those as well lol#That's literally the only reason Max and Dex are a strikethrough because otherwise 10000%#And y'already know about my big feelings towards many others - I wouldn't have a whole Vargas blog if not lol#I have other OC faves as well :D Cheerybot jumps out to me haha#As well as when smol shares her characters with me <3#There was this one story that I was told by an artist as context for a commission and I was enthralled but never followed up on - a shame!#I ended up making a little extra art out of inspiration haha ♪#Anyway lol - these are just the ones that immediately spring to mind since I've drawn them :D#I almost certainly have more who just haven't made it to my paper yet lol#Not enough girls in this list - tossing in Wendy (and Jennifer) from Rule of Rose as well ♥#I could probably talk about several of these at even further length lol - I already have for some!#There's also specific dynamics I rarely see - my favourite rarepairs are probably Krillin/Vegeta(/Bulma/18) and Thranduil/Bilbo lol#There is too little appreciation for polyships!! So many of my faves have two hands!!#And to be fair Nova is probably rarer than Fai - there's definitely not enough fanfic about her dynamic with Hikaru!#I kept almost including other faves but I was like No Wait this about rare characters lol#I'm delighted to see all of my faves! But I would doubly so to see these get the love they deserve hehe <3#Can you tell that I really enjoy ahem Interesting Personalities lol#All my faves are disasters I love them <3

Thoughts on the Krillin x Bulma ship? :D
Tbh, Krillin with anyone is a pretty good ship due to his personality. Even Toriyama said he would hang out with Krillin because he's the easiest to get along with. My dude Krillin can just get along with everyone. Krillin x Bulma is not a ship on the top of my list, but it has potential & could work out well.
He did have a crush on Bulma at one point. And if you count his filler girlfriend, then Krillin wanted to get a woman that looked just like Bulma. So, there is set up for the relationship to have happened.
Bulma complained for years about Vegeta ignoring her, not working, and not around often because he would rather train instead. On the other hand, Krillin is shown to be attentive, has a job that lets him protect other people, and he spends time with family while also making time to train. Krillin sounds like the kind of guy Bulma wishes she had, but was too late 'cause 18 nabbed him first.
So, if Krillin x Bulma did happen, I think Bulma would benefit from the relationship more than Krillin. I think she would behave like she did in Super Hero waaaaay earlier if she was with Krillin. Much kinder, but playfully teasing people instead of being rude. A good person can change you for the better. Just look at how 18 changed due to Krillin's genuine kindness & it brought out the best in 18. After a decade of being together, 18 still blushes from just thinking about him. If Krillin was with Bulma, there would be similar results.
But K18 is too great of a ship, so I choose that over Krillin x Bulma. K18 is always #1!
Now Krillin x Chi-Chi? That's gotta be 2nd to K18.

[8bbc theme fades out] Caldwell: Uh-- I'm ready to start the show whenever you are, daddy! [Murph laughs] Emily: (accented) Daddy! I want to start the show! Murph: Ohhh, welcome to 8-bit book club, the only book club that makes you dumber! I'm Brian Murphy joined as always by my life slash comedy partner Emily Axford. Emily: Kamehameha! [Caldwell laughs] Murph: That has nothing to do with what we're doing today! [Emily laughs.] We're doing a Mario book and you're just shouting things from Dragon Ball Z? And now you're just laughing and you're just out of commission? And, um, why not, the Krillin to my Goku, Caldwell Tanner. [Emily and Caldwell laugh. Emily continues wordlessly laughing in the background as Murph and Caldwell talk.] Caldwell: I had a whole thing about Koopas ready and you fuckin' threw it off! Murph, laughing: Yeah, the whole thing's thrown off. We… Caldwell: We're already off the path. Murph: We're already off the path! Emily's been so weird the past few days, I was just telling Caldwell about how she's been prankin' me. By-- (laughs) She went to Starbucks the other day, I asked her to get me a large iced coffee, she insisted she was only gonna get me a small iced coffee. And then, Emily, do you wanna tell everyone the prank that you did when you came back? Emily: Okay. Then I-- Caldwell: Yeah, tell them the excellent goof that you pulled. Murph: Yeah, the good switcheroo! Emily: Okay, here's the good switcheroo! [Caldwell laughs.] I came back and I said-- "I know you wanted a large, I wanted to get you a small, so I split the difference and I got you a venti… straw." And I gave him a small iced coffee but with the biggest straw there. [Caldwell laughs] Murph: Yeah, so… it was… Emily: Did it look pretty silly as I was walking home from? Yeah! I think everyone probably saw me and was like "that girl's going to goof!" Murph: It was-- it was pretty silly, it was definitely a harmless goof, and yet it was-- um-- she ultimately did me a favor that I didn't wanna say thank you for. You know what I mean? Caldwell: Right. Right, cause you didn't-- it didn't keep you up? It was the right sized coffee that you needed? Murph: Well, no, it was nice thing for her to pick me up a coffee when she was out, but then she owned me when she came home. [Emily laughs] For no reason! Caldwell: Did the barista ask-- were they like-- "Well, I don't understand, you don't have a venti drink." Did you have to explain that you were taking your husband to goof town? Emily: Um, no. I would have said those words exactly if they had asked, but actually it's sort of a self service station for straws there at Starbucks. Caldwell: Oh, right. Emily: So I was using the Starbucks self-service straw station. Caldwell: They probably get a lot of people picking up those venti straws for like, crafts and stuff. They're very sturdy. Emily: Oh, yeah. You could also make a gorge necklace out of them! Murph: Yeah, you could make a good straw cabin out of that! Caldwell: Mhm. A straw-bridge. Murph: What the fuck are we talking about? [Emily and Caldwell laugh] Um, we-- wuh. Man, I can't even talk.

FUN FACT: Did you know that Vegeta wasn't blowing smoke on Namek when he claimed to have become a Super Saiyan?
Well. Not entirely, anyway.
And also the process of becoming a Super Saiyan is kind of complicated, and Goku is an enlightened martial arts master.
The process of becoming a Super Saiyan is complicated. The English dub got a bit confused on this point while they were frantically erasing as much spirituality and also martial arts and general power levels talk as they could from the series.
The dub was bad. I don't think that's a surprise to anyone. It was a 90's anime dub. It scrubbed the source material of a lot of stuff.
But specifically here, the dub confused matters when it said that to become a Super Saiyan, you have to be pure of heart. This confused matters, because being purehearted is a thing in Dragon Ball. You have to be purehearted to ride the Nimbus.
Tumblr media
This concept of pureheartedness exists in Dragon Ball. But it has nothing to do with the Super Saiyan.
This isn't the same as that. To become a Super Saiyan, you need something else. Notably, the Viz manga also translates this idea as "pure of heart"....
Tumblr media
But the idea being translated here is more along the lines of tranquility than innocent goodness.
Becoming a Super Saiyan is a bit of a process. To understand the Super Saiyan, we need to talk about limit-breaking. This is a concept that's expressed repeatedly throughout Dragon Ball. In order to become Dragon Ball Powerful, you have to break your limits. You hit a ceiling and that's as far as you can go, until you find some new way to push through and break that ceiling. The series is big on this idea.
Tumblr media
As an example, Mr. Satan is an incredibly formidable martial artist. He is peak. Top-tier fighter. ...within human limits. But he doesn't hold a candle to Krillin because Krillin broke the human limit in childhood.
Mr. Satan is basically Panput from the 22nd Tenkaichi Budokai.
Tumblr media
Saiyans are in a different league from humans, and they have different set limits. Different norms, different standards, and different potentials. But, like humans, there's a ceiling. The first step to becoming a Super Saiyan is breaking the Saiyan limit.
Goku, as a low-class Saiyan trained on Earth in martial arts, was able to break through the Saiyan limit during his gravity training in space. This wasn't the goal of his training, mind; Goku had a particular goal in mind. He was subjecting himself to intense gravity so that he could acclimate his body to withstanding higher levels of Kaioken.
Not even realizing that was what he was doing, Goku was the first to shatter his Saiyan boundary and take the first step to becoming a Super Saiyan.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
That Goku has transcended Saiyan abilities isn't lost on either Vegeta or Captain Ginyu, both of whom peg him as a Super Saiyan... before walking it back because Goku lacks the overwhelming bloodthirst and battle hunger that characterizes the legend.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Poor Goku has no idea what any of these people are on about. He might as well be listening to Game of Thrones fans infodump about the Lannisters.
But he wasn't alone. During his fight with Jeice following his third Zenkai of the arc, Vegeta finds himself trashing Jeice. Vegeta's as surprised as Jeice is, to be honest. Even with a Zenkai, he should not be doing this well.
Tumblr media
Vegeta's last Zenkai wasn't just a Zenkai. It pushed him through the Saiyan limit.
You see, something happens to a Saiyan as they cross that boundary. Their ki begins to swell astronomically in preparation for becoming a Super Saiyan. Both Goku and Vegeta at this point have entered a sort of proto-Super Saiyan state. Their powers are passively being inflated.
Goku, too, eventually realizes that his power is growing at an astronomical rate that cannot be explained by his training or his Zenkai boosts or any phenomenon he's aware of. He's just. Swelling with power for reasons he can't fathom.
Tumblr media
Neither of them are Super Saiyans yet. They still need the right spark to ignite it - and, despite knowing more about the Super Saiyan legend than Goku, Vegeta has no idea what that spark is. But they're both inflating like balloons in preparation for ignition.
Vegeta brings up the proto-Super Saiyan again in his first showdown with Frieza.
Tumblr media
He recognizes that he is not yet the Super Saiyan. But he is a proto-Super Saiyan. He still feels it, still feels his power inflating within himself. He just. Needs. That. Spark.
But he won't find it. He said it himself: He doesn't think Goku and his "soft heart" can become the Super Saiyan. The Super Saiyan is supposed to be filled with rage and battle hunger.
But breaking the Saiyan limit isn't enough. You need the spark: A tranquil heart awakened by rage.
There are two pieces to that. The first is a tranquil heart. What does that mean? It means tranquility. Stillness. Peace. Becoming one with yourself and the cosmic universe.
During his training in space, with nothing to concern himself with and no distractions, Goku found tranquility. Alone in the void of space with only his beloved art, he achieved a measure of serenity and peace that he's never known before.
When Goku steps off that ship, he's different. He's entirely focused on the task at hand. He doesn't even want to fight the Ginyus, which is a stark departure for his character. He has no interest in the joy of battle; Only in doing what he came for and going home.
Tumblr media
Goku asks the Ginyu Force multiple times to just go away. He does not care about this. He is thoroughly disinterested in fighting.
He's not even mad. They beat up his son and his best friend, and Goku does not care. Also, he can read minds now. Because he is the Heavenly Buddha, I guess.
Tumblr media
This is a super weird moment, but its main purpose is to demonstrate that Goku has become... something else. He's not just "Goku but stronger"; he's changed on a fundamental level.
Goku is no longer a rash, impulsive student. He has become a master of his art. Do you see that kanji on his back? Kaio presented Goku with this new dogi after he got out of the hospital... uh... somehow.
Tumblr media
You. Uh. You gonna elaborate on where the fuck that came from, Goku? No? Okay, man. You do you.
In any case, Goku's new dogi is distinctive because it erases the sigils of both the Kame school and Kaio. Originally, he would wear the Kame sigils on both front and back to reflect his status as a student of Kame-senryu.
Even if he did only technically study Kame-senryu for less than a year. It's fine; the Muten-Roshi filled him with a lot of philosophy that's guided him over the years so it still counts.
Tumblr media
After he trained under Kaio, the sigil on his back was replaced with Kaio's sigil, to reflect that he is Kaio's student now as much as he is the Muten-Roshi's. Though he left the Kame-senryu sigil on Goku's front, because he is a student of both.
Tumblr media
But from the moment Goku steps off that ship, both Kaio and the Kame sigils have been replaced by this new one.
Tumblr media
This new sigil serves two purposes. First is that it's the first kanji of Goku's name. Both of his masters are now gone from Goku's expression, replaced by Goku himself; This symbolizes that Goku has, himself, become the master. His art is now fully his own.
Goku is at the peak of his journey. There is nothing more for him to learn. It falls to him now to cultivate, develop, and evolve his art for himself, using the knowledge and mastery he's acquired. And, as we'll see in the next arc, to ultimately pass it on to the next generation to come.
But, bringing this back to the tranquil heart thing: The kanji for 'Go' also represents enlightenment. Goku has found peace with himself and his place in the cosmic universe. That is why he, and not Vegeta, is ready to have his spark ignited.
He's broken the Saiyan limit. He has a tranquil heart. All he needs now is to snap, and have his tranquil heart awakened by rage.
Tumblr media
But Vegeta still has a ways to go. Because his heart is far from tranquil.
Tumblr media
The best he can come up with is "I Zenkai'd into this, I can Zenkai out of it!" Vegeta is very fettered, especially in conflict with Frieza. He is not one with the cosmic universe. He is a nervous wreck of emotions and wants and distractions. He was so close, but he could never have ignited here. Not under these circumstances.
No, Vegeta would only find his tranquility after becoming stranded on Earth. (No, anime, Vegeta did not have a spare spaceship on hand to leave immediately.)
Three years, living at Capsule Corp until he moved out and got his own place. Free from the yoke of Frieza and able to pursue nothing more than his own self-improvement. Driven by a desire to surpass Goku but in a low-stress environment...
Tumblr media
...and apparently hanging out with Bulma in his downtime.
Tumblr media
That's where Vegeta found his tranquility. And the spark of rage that ignited his tranquil heart? His own inadequacies, of course.
Tumblr media
Never change, Vegeta. XD

I think Jaune might a Breaking Base Character. I have seen people really like and really dislike him. At this point I don't know if I can find a source that fairly tells me the fandoms overall opinion on him. I mean shippers just do what ever and harem. Why does Jaune have a Bully Arc? I feel like that's kinda dumb and focus should have been else were.
Okay, so...
A Base-Breaking Character is "a character in a series that is loved by one section of the fanbase and hated by the other."
By this logic, I deduce the FNDM is divided into the two sides of people who hate Jaune and people who love him. People who love him are then divided into the two sides of people who write him as a soggy piece of wet toast and the side who write Jaune as a gigachad harem god. On the other side, we have people who hate Jaune because they see him as a self-insert of his voice-actor, Miles Luna, or because he "takes too much screentime" in a show that's supposed to be about girls. This is the best I can figure out from FNDM descriptions, and to be honest, I think the people who cry about Jaune being a self-insert are just as bad as the people who make Jaune into a gigachad harem god.
Jaune having a bully arc sets us up to Jaune's past, present, and future in the show. Monty Oum clearly had a plan for him, though I can't exactly ask him what his plan was for having these episodes in Volume 1 because, well, he's kinda been dead for the past ten years. Jaune's past is explained when he explains how he got into Beacon, with his present shown through his constant bullying by Cardin and by his standing up to him to help Velvet, and his future is presented in two-fold by his aura protecting him from Cardin's attack and by his assisted decapitation of the large Ursa. The point of Jaunedice was to help us better understand Jaune's role as a protagonist, main character, deuteragonist, and or other role in the show.
If Jaune didn't have these episodes, his character would probably been flanderized to being... Steve Urkel, Milhouse Van Houten, and or some other character that serves no other purpose than to be the comedic relief whipping boy. Instead, we have Jaune Arc as the John Everyman character who helps us with the human element of the situation, kind of like... Sokka, Krillin, and or Commissioner Gordon.
I'm just one guy, though, so these are obviously my opinions and everything I say should be dismissed. Because I am an idiot. Thank you and good night.
