some challengers thoughts (and major spoilers) under the cut 🎾

first things first: these bitches are Deranged. none of them will be seeing heaven. and i fucking love them lmfao give me that toxic mess !

also i am aware that this is supposed to be a drama but considering i am the master of finding the most irrelevant things hilarious, i was silent laughing throughout most of it lmao. good thing nobody was anywhere near me. but anyway moving on

at the start when tashi chooses the challenger that art will play, i was lmfao-ing at how she was on the atp wta app. like im sorryyyyy but that app is just,,, well. yeah. yall know.

prior to watching btw i had actually read a couple of spoilers & thought dumps on this movie BUT LIKE. NONE OF YALL MENTIONED THE CHILD. THE FUCK. those three fuckers were doing their toxic little mating dance while There Was A Child. brought a new level of fucked up to what they were doing that i truly didn’t expect. hope that kid gets therapy in the future

anyway art at the challenger should’ve had more crazy fans. like as a six time gs champ (who presumably didnt rly have consistent rivals like the big three lmao) he was literally a tennis Star. where are the crazy posters. cut outs of his face. smh he needs more groupies

patrick’s serve kinda reminds me of siniakova’s. anyway i don’t like it smdhdkdjks sorry siniakova but it bothers me how the motion gets cut up instead of being one fluid thing along with the toss. thats kinda just a me thing tho lmao

so the part at the party where those losers just kept awkwardly coming up to tashi? embarrassing tbh. secondhand shame well and truly alive in me

patrick has defo been into art the whole time btw like cmon. when tashi asked if they were a thing and art shot it down asap but patrick hesitated? ohhhh boy

tashi, on the other hand, is fascinating for me cause like. does she really like either of these men? no clue. it seems like she only does when she gets Both of them. which you know what valid i support her and her wrongs etc etc

in the doubles match when they celebrated on top of each other, i think a bunch of ppl in the theater were going all 👀 which i mean sure it’s valid in this case but uh. i was sitting there like that guy at the corner of the party meme thinking “they don’t know tennis players are just Like That actually” (many sports in general actually. the things footy boys do the pitch…… but i digress. still, it was weird to realize that most people are unaware of the homoeroticism of sport. wild!)

emotionally speaking, the thing that hit me the hardest was actually when the tv in the bg started talking abt how that mueller girl won wimby and was basically unstoppable. like the callback is insane and just OUCH it hurt so much because it was so Real imo? like. that is very much a scenario that can and does happen in tennis, and sport in general. there are always the random players who get injured or flop or just randomly retire, and it leaves us wondering: if they had still been at the top of their game, would the face of the sport have changed? so i empathized with tashi’s pain as she saw someone she had considered Below Her now rise to glory that tashi herself would never know. but, as we all know, if if if doesn’t exist. and that’s the thing that pained me the most.

random tinder lady was ridiculous sorry but like patrick literally just told her he was a total loser in tennis and then left her table to talk to another girl. i think she shouldve slapped him the fuck away instead of making out with him lmfao. like girl he is not hot enough for you to ignore the bullcrap. has he even showered. come on.

when tashi and patrick talked tho and she got mad at him for blowing smoke in her face? so real. i approve. i hate secondhand smoke soooo much bleh

that scene where art says he wants to retire and just flops his head on tashi’s lap and asks her to hold him????? only scene that made me feel actual Yearning. like damn get me a babygirl man like that. or let me be someone’s babygirl like that. like platonically or whatever idc just give me those soft touches i want that sensory experience

when tashi asked patrick to throw the match and patrick was like “how could you do this to him?” and basically said that asking that was Worse than her physically cheating on art. loved that shit. i was like damnnnnnnn that’s the all encompassing emotional nature of devoting your life to tennis babey!

in general actually a lot of their lines were soooo snappy and shit and like. i enjoyed that

but honestly my suspension of disbelief was kinda shattered a bit in the arguing in the car scene cause like. i was so fucking stressed. they were driving fast in the middle of a fucking storm at midnight and neither had a seatbelt i think and i swear there was a point where patrick looked at tashi for like five whole seconds while driving. LIKE PLEASE. god. can’t you guys be toxic bitches while obeying traffic rules? 😔

anyway. the camera shots from the floor during the match itself oh my GOD im obsessed. especially during the serve. wish i could gif those. god. yeah. yeahhhhh

speaking of the match though. idk some stuff with the scoring graphic felt off? i got a bit confused at some point. might be imagining it tho lmao

ball perspective was so fucking funny tho. i mean it worked i think but i kept thinking like imagine if we had ballcam with the tour big hitters. poor balls. they go thru so much. may they rest in peace.

when art just fell onto patrick at the end smash im sorry ik that was supposed to be a climax and shit but it was SO fucking funny

and finally: shoutout to art’s dead grandma. she moved the plot in ways she never even knew. legend 🙌🪦🕊️

so yeah i had a Lot of fun! though i truly have NO idea how this movie even looks to people who dont get tennis. or sports in general. must be a hell of a ride lol

"You were quite a known face on social media back in the human realm, playing games, doing unboxings, just vibin in general, fans around the globe looked forward to your streams a lot! However, considering the sudden (unannounced) invitation to the exchange program, you had to leave all of that behind out of the blue. It wasn't as bad at first, but you have to admit you do miss the feeling of being able to do goofy shit online. Luckily for you, with the advance technology of Devildom and some spicy magic, the internet had synced with the human realm, and thats when you decided to finally re-enter the streaming scene. How will the brothers react upon seeing your peculiar past time?"

Head empty, No thoughts aside from the brothers just bothering the MC while they stream so here you go haha

But all hes met with is you, infront of your chair and PC, and a game over on the screen...

To say he was unamused was an understatement cause you just lost your internet priviliges for giving him a heart attack (He said it was because you were being rowdy and noisy but with what you saw you knew that wasn't the case)

Good luck tryna puppy-eye your way to his heart to let you continue streaming lol.

If by some miracle you managed to wriggle your rights back from his hands, he'd warn you not to be so loud next time.

You already learnt your lesson though~ (Hopefully)

Not everyone's the same, so if you were the shy soft streamer who does more art streams or something akin to a podcast, you can bet that Lucifer will be putting you on while he works, he kinda knows your streaming schedule at this point and if you were running late, he'd force one of his brothers to take over your dish washing duties or any chores you were stuck with

If you were the loud obnoxious meme type, hed still try to watch out of curiosity, and as much as he appreciates that you were getting comfortable here in Devildom with how you laugh and joke around, he still can't approve of it. Its too loud, its much like his brothers energy and he has enough of that already, so he probably doesn't watch as much.

He has countlessly came to your room to shush you and at this point your fans had made a compilation of each time Lucifer had barged in to tell you off

Look he likes it when you scream, but not when hes in the middle of work okay--

At this point, chat has deemed Lucifer as dad and you as their mom/dad.

If he ever catches wind of this he'd definitely be teasing you in private for centuries to come.

I would say he found out by him crashing into your streams midway but that's too predictable, hence why you've Mammon-proofed your bedroom during streaming hours!

You love your broke idiot, but you did wanna keep the tone of your stream today a bit more chill, you wanted to have a proper Q&A with your fans to hopefully clear any bad vibes around your 3 month disappearance.

When Mammon has learnt your door was locked he definitely was a bit pissy, he knocked on your door loudly even and was calling out for you to let him in, but to no avail.

He usually was allowed to enter, and you usually answered if you did need to be left alone for a bit, so just leaving him hanging got his mind racing and he had to press up his ear on the wooden door to try and hear if you were okay

When this continues on he finally resorts to getting help, but the only one in the house ws Levi, so he kicks down HIS door.

But as Mammon exclaim you weren't answering and he worried for your wellbeing, Levi rolls his eyes and scoffs,

But now, as you make the announcement to your viewers and Levi to his, the internet explodes as a special collab stream was hapening between the expert gamer and avatar of envy of Devildom along with the beloved exchange student and streamer of the human realm

Your usual viewers reach between 10-15k, but as you start stream, that number boosts higher and beyond

Before streaming though, Levi was incredibly nervous, he'd picked the games for you to play that he knew you would enjoy with him, but his mind kept racing about whatthe fans thought, he didnt wanna disappoint them

Once the cameras cut and yall are left alone, Both of you collapse on bed, and despite you being asleep already, Levi was just far too giddy as everything dwells on him.

Having a player 2 by his side now had never felt so intoxicating and he as just so lucky to have you.

He obviously adores it, although some streams he wouldnt join just so he can play games on his own

He's still an introvert afterall, he needs his alone time

But he prefers that alone time with you, his Henry.

So when youre about to go stream, he kinda becomes a bit pouty, but with a simple promise of kisses (and maybe even more if youd like) he would let you go, but his attention would disappear from his game altogether.

He might just end up watching you instead

May or may not, at some point, just chat you and ask if its too late to join you

You do allow him to join you and play from the comforts of his room as both of you can simply play via internet, you give him the comfort to not turn on his mic or webcam either and you have no idea how he appreciates that.

Will definitely fight someone online when they start claiming you as theirs (-cough- stans) Please make sure it doesnt escalate to him summoning Lotan

Although the comments would often get to him, and as much as he can fight them online, he still does find himself pondering if they were true, so you need to give him a lotta lovin and reminder that he is your player 1 and no one else can ever fill that place.

and why did i just realize how obvious it is that knuckles is gonna be completely split up from sonic and tails until their little team-up scene?

It literally correlates with S3&K’s events. Knuckles doesn’t even ACTUALLY get to work beside Sonic and Tails in that story, he just helps them progress to go beat Eggman briefly before staying behind out of exhaustion, appearing at the end happy to have his emerald back and watching them LEAVE. We get a source material win with the event structure becoming more familiar there, and THEN we get a trio team up! (or. yknow. said team up happens first. but cmon, a LOT of audience hype can be generated from Knuckles appearing and officially having the two’s back AFTER its been a while since seeing him in an indecisive state about which “side” he joins)

And honestly, it’s stuff like this that reminds me just how much I love what this movie’s doing with its story already. So many people get their undies in a twist over the fact that it’s not COMPLETELY accurate to the games it takes inspiration from but like......IT DOES and it WILL. I don’t even need to explain why because you can just watch the trailers and footage again, we’re getting a LOT of familiar stuff here, with much more to come!

But tell me, why would anyone want to strip this movie of the NEW things it’s doing? When did Sonic and Knuckles fight THIS MANY TIMES in S3&K, whilst encountering eachother in multiple different ways just like S3&K? When did Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles all get to be THIS involved in the final fight all together in a classic Sonic game? Isn’t it MEMED that when you finally get to fight Knuckles in Sonic 3 it’s underwhelming because it’s short and has little pay off? Cause changing that benefits the movie and your experience with this new interpretation of how Sonic and Knuckles’ friendship came to be! We get to watch our MC actually have to work up to that final fight, and we all agree that’s been INSANELY COOL to see already, right? And I know there’s fears about Tails but the movie doing its thing benefits HIM too, because he never even GOT his own cutscenes in the classic game material! He wasn’t even as fleshed out by that point, so looking at the sequel from this standpoint, getting to see Tails actually interact with the circumstances and go through his own arc and development is really exciting! Literally EVERYONE wins in the scenario! And this isn’t even going into the insane amount of stakes that come with the first movie’s personal flair of Sonic losing his home and his guardian to ECHIDNA as a small child, coupled with Knuckles’ motivation for defeating him being WAY more deeply rooted with material such as the ruins where the M.E is located including imagery of a hedgehog assumed to be an enemy IN COMPARISON TO THE GAME WHERE THAT ORIGINATED FROM.

I’m so happy we’re receiving such a perfect balance of iconic moments recreated on screen and just INSANE amounts of added flavour to make something new and breathtaking to make the translation between 90s video game to high budget feature film SEAMLESS. Twitter just doesn’t realize how well we have it right now.

FAVORITE CHARACTER(S): aizen, askin, kugo (they are on a whole diff level) FAVORITE EPISODES/BOOKS: the manga, cfyow. I never watched the anime, just a few scenes on youtube, I certainly liked the extra material. FAVORITE PLOTLINE(S): fullbring arc, quincy arc, arrancar arc. LEAST FAVORITE CHARACTER(S): none really, just 80% idc about as I am simply neutral towards them, or they failed to catch my interest. And that applies to the humans, shinigami, fullbringer, quincy, arrancar, visored. Usually those, who did not seem to hold any strong opinions or goals caught my interest the least. I can say the main characters are under them and their close friends / allies. I am def more biased towards the bad ones. SOMEONE YOU FEEL IS UNDERRATED: my boi, the lack of fanart shows that he really is quite disregarded, at least cfyow made some aware of him again and by some even positively, but there was not really an influx of content for him now, sadly. I think the Fullbringer are generally underrated but gotta admit, kubo did not sell them that well now, but their powers certainly hold a lot of potential, or allow a lot of creativity if you consider making an oc. Meanwhile I think Yammy deserves a tiny bit more appreciation? At least a little, he got a dog and wanted to help Ulquiorra (like damn, none of the other espada ever voiced to help another espada, comrade rly who wasnt part of their team). Kon, we know he deserved better than that.

FAVORITE THEORY: I will forever love the work Sher & Ila put into their headcanons, thoughts, metas, essays whatever. It is a rare sight these days and I am glad they use their knowledge for such amazing takes on the quincy, and their characters. Especially Aizen is noteworthy here, the way ila manages to flesh him out, even his bankai. And Sher holds an amazing knowledge over history thanks to her studies. M so glad you guys share your stuff with us! I mean look what happened, I actually got interested in the Quincy. LEAST FAVORITE THEORY: ‘m sure there exist theories I won’t agree on but eyyyyy, it is your take and if you enjoy/ like it, good for you, i won’t care or even know of it rly anyway. A STORYLINE YOU’D CREATE: ichigo going against soul society, or at least no more really work for them, but who knows how badly that would end for him. i just want to see ichigo confronted with a lot of stuff. edit: AIZEN FREEING HIMSELF A STORYLINE YOU’D CHANGE: I would have preferred if ginjo did not have to die, or at least get more screentime later. The Great New York State Fair- Drive-thru Style

It shouldn’t come to a surprise that the Great New York State Fair has been cancelled this year. Cmon, people, there’s a pandemic out there, there’s no way they could’ve gotten away with not closing it. But a lot of people have been saying “it just doesn’t feel like the end of summer without the Fair,” which leaves me asking, “Damn, y’all actually had things left to look forward to?”

Soul-crushing memes aside, there’s still a way for those who apparently still have some sense of time (or at least in terms of things like “seasons”) to still get their Fair fix.

“Orange Lot Madness,” named for the parking lot it’s being held in, is a fairgrounds-adjacent collection of vendors trying to make up for the fact that their biggest source of income has shut down for the first time since 1948, and has apparently been running every weekend from the start of August (oops, I’m 3 weeks late on this) until Labor Day weekend.

The event was originally organized by Villa Pizze Fritte, a fried dough stand, they have since been joined by Big Kahuna (home of my beloved caramel crack fries), Ashley Lynn Winery (one of many wine slushy stands), and Carnival Eats (which as far as I can gleam from their god-awful website makes… generic carnival food). The “drive-thru” aspect comes in as cars line up at their vendor of choice, where PPE-clad employees take your order from your window and deliver the food to you when it’s ready. And since most carnival games and attractions would require levels of constant sanitation that just… don’t happen at fairs, they have decided to provide additional entertainment in the form of drive-in movies.

On the other hand, for those who feel that trying to navigate the fairgrounds’ parking lots is the worst part of the Fair Experience™, syracuse.com has also put together a guide for how to host your own Fair. Most of it is honestly kinda hokey, like “charge your friends 25 cents for cups of chocolate milk,” “ring toss game with empty beer bottles and shower curtain rings,” and “host a butter sculpting competition, with a grand prize of all those quarters you got from your milk racketeering.” They also suggest making some fair food at home, but also have the audacity to suggest “baked potato” and “corn on the cob” are fair staples? For those with higher culinary ambitions, they’ve also published recipes for true fair staples like wine slushies, pizze frittes, and “Hot Beef Sundae.” (Man, I need to stop putting sarcastic quotation marks on everything.) But, just like the Fair itself, it may be hokey at times, but the important thing is being able to have a good laugh at it all with your friends.

Im not here to please people because how I choose to write soranort is all up to me and I love him. Its just... a super funky feeling. Theres a reason i took my hiatus but thats all im gonna say. Im also always worried about my vanitas portrayal since hes just a Lost Soul at the moment with no goal or path or outlet and therefore doesnt really follow his canon self’s personality or behavior.

Holy jesus i knew they did hd ps4 ports of the playstation games but they ALSO added all the final mix content that engkishspeaking fans never got during my childhood? And they ALSO remade chain of memories entireky in 3d with Very Animated Ice Dad?? And they ALSO remade BBS despite it not needing it nearly as much as the old games and thet ALSO remade friggin dream drop distance which came out on a goddamn current gen console?? Like they seriously just made a non portable version?? Now all the spinoffs are on the same console at last?? Why did you not just do this in the first place?? I mean the psp and 3ds games were basically ps2 equivelant graphics and disc space anyway...

I really just DONT KNOW! ive been out of the fandom for so long and my last experience was really hatting BBS and feeling horribly out of place as everyone else raved about it being the best thing ever. And i know NOTHING about what kh3 is gonna be or whether its even possible for me to get back into the fandom and like.. Care about it at all again. I just got fuckin fatigued with it and my teenage years were like me clinging on to the edge of a cliff by my fingernails begging everyone to believe me that Its Still Good, Honestly, Its Worth It while square enix is up there all LONG LIVE THE KING and they push me off. Into a stampede of PSPs. Somehow.

And then aaargh i know i literally only came back to the fandom because organization xiii fuckin eternally holds my heart in their lil grabby hands. It was indeed a good nostalgic moment remembering how i loved them! And getting a new appreciation for Vexen and being blown away by how much he should have been my favourite but i just never got to play COM as a kid and then when i played it as an adult all the way after bbs i ended up quitting before even getting to meet half the org cos this one stupid 'defeat 99 shadows jn 99 seconds' mission kicked my ass. I'M JUST NOT GOOD AT ACTION RPGS OKAY!

Aaaagh thats another Big Worry, yknow? Like asa kid i was Bad, as an adult i'm Barely Better , and as a both i never enjoyed beat em up thingies of any kind at all. And on top of that i was never big into disney, i never saw them as any sort of 'childhood magic' but just some naff cliche shit retelling public domain fairy tales in the safest way possible with a bunch of obnoxious celebrity cameos. Also lion king and snow white terrified me as a kid. Also i associated robin hood with my dead grandma. Also as a kid i couldnt appreciate good artistic ability or voiceacting, i was all about the story, yknow? And most of kh's adaptations are really rushed and barebones versions of an already shoddy story, without any of the visual splendor. ALSO i never saw any of the darker or more emotionally focused stuff like Hunchback and Beauty and the Beast until way after i quit playing kingdom hearts, oddly enough. Wtf beauty and thebeast is actually real good and looks so far beyond its time!! Wtf hunchback has my goddamn evil dad in it!! Why did i miss the only good didneys!! Why did snow white traumatize me and those didnt!!

ANYWAY the point im getting at is that im not inherantly predisposed to like.. Any of kingdom hearts's appeal at all. I didnt know half the disneys and i didnt have any hype for the others. None of my fave final fantasy games made it into it until the sequel and then never again after that. CMON I CANT JUST DEAL WITH ONE VIVI CAMEO Y'ALL! And i haaaate the genre and its an uphill struggle to play a game like that with my stupid inelegant sausage hands. So i just came for the story and then everything after the first game has been conspiring to ruin it for me, sheesh! I felt so much for that short concise self contained first episode and then i fall more and more out of love as they establish this status quo of everything being retconnable so dont bother get attatched to it. Blablabla the entire worldbuilding is different now and everyone was secretly someone else and please memorize a bunch of shit from fifty fuckin spinoffs and also time travel and cloning suddenly exist and ALSO Grandpa Onlyblackmanintheworld is generic motiveless evil and everything was him even of it looked like it was actually a sympathetic villain. *insert dio meme face*

So yeah now im just.. In it for the characters?? And the cute art style and monsters and lovely animations and big fanfic oc potentials stuff. But man even tho i had Big Feel for those things i was able to completely drop it all and forget about the series for years, that was just HOW BAD the kh3 drought was. Steven universe hiatus eat your heart out...

So ffff i dont even KNOW if i'll be able to get feels'd for these characters again or if they actually hold up to modern bunni standards of huggable. And i know all the ones i want to hug the most got like zero sympathy and all died horribly and were also retroactively revealed to be clone oldmanvirus somethingy and aaaaaagh. But also something something people say they all came back and got cured?? And this is why?? I am here?? Again?? And buying?? The thing??

Late late laaate but it’s fun series of questions so I’m doing it anyway, and its in the spirit of celebrating MEA like the last week has been about (albeit on a separate meme). What is your favorite scene in MEA?

awsh.. tough question with a broad scope. there are a lot that I loved, enjoyed for different reasons. here are some of the ones that stayed with me -

when Alec touches Ryder’s arm on Habitat 7 just after activating the vault, “you did it” - “there’s hope at least”. they’re standing looking at one another giddy with wonder and high on a success and thinking of new beginnings, sunlight’s beaming down, regardless of any distance or strain that may exist in their relationship prior to now, there’s an understanding and approval passing between them due to this shared experience, they’re proud of one another, they’re family, they’re home. and for a moment, just a fleeting moment, everything is golden and perfect. dad stuff (trademark) always gets me man.

when Dunn crash lands and saves the Hyperion and its sleepers. the ark breaking through the clouds like cresting waves, her crewmens’ reluctance to leave her and the ark despite her stern barked orders, her grit and grim determination and brave, heroic and self-sacrificial actions (whether she lives or dies) as it’s going down.. I’m a sucker for a classic “captain nobly goes down with the ship” scene I guess. you can see why she was entrusted with the Hyperion’s command. I liked seeing such a moment of badassery and steely resolve from a secondary char.

when Liam tells Ryder about the car his family “sent” to Andromeda. that scene explains a lot about his character, about where he’s coming from, where his frustrations stem from, what he cares about, how much he cares, what the stakes are in emotional terms, how powerless and robbed of agency he’s feeling then. something about his honest frustration there really got me - he’s so raw and exposed, lost and desperate, just a Guy who’s Tryin’, and simultaneously kind of like a little kid searching for a meaning. then he shows Ryder the car and everything and the music comes in just so, and it’s just so touching and hey, Kosta, me too. I found that to be a really humanizing and vulnerable moment for Liam and my Ryder.

a natural and probably universal highlight - barfight with Drack. a very Roo moment.

the Sulfur Springs rockclimb with Vetra. anything involving Vetra, tbh. but cmon thats basically a given

What is your favorite quest?

Liam’s Loyalty Mission was the funniest and the most entertaining of the set. of the sidequests - Emergency S.O.S/Herbal Entrepreneurs on Kadara, The Lost Song on Voeld and the segments on Havarl with Zorai's relic and the Mithrava sages were particularly memorable for me.

What is your favorite weapon?

from among the old: reegar. from among the new: asari sword

What is your favorite armor?

aesthetically, the angaran armors, they really remind me of my m!quarian OC. from a character perspective, scavenger and maverick deadeye work best for Roo.

What is your favorite power ability?

biotic charge. honorable mention for incinerate.

What is your favorite planet?

hub: Aya. non-hub: Havarl. Roo’s favorite planet is Kadara.

What is your favorite addition to MEA that wasn’t in the original trilogy?

non-asari gayliens. the angara. the jump-jet.

Who is your favorite non-romanced (one you didn’t romance but could be) character? (can be NPC or squadmate)

can I pick Vetra for when I’m romancing Jaal, and Jaal for when I’m romancing Vetra? too much of a cop-out? :’) assuming this question refers to “non-romanceable character”, not “romanceable character that you didn’t romance” - Tiran, Avitus and Sid. honorable mention: Dr. Nakamoto.

Favorite squad/party combo?

Vetra and Jaal.

Favorite non-bipedal animal on Andromeda?

space hamster notwithstanding - yevaras, then mantas. they were both really pretty to look at, and I like the lore associated with them both.

What surprised you most when you first played MEA?

hmm.. the levity and generally light-hearted tone the game has. I didn’t expect to be laughing out loud and eyerolling so often when playing it. the levity is both a good point and a downside of the game, mind.

What is your favorite quote?
