Many names, she has.
Goddess,
Golden Lady,
The All Seeing Eye.
Such names bear reverence and fear,
to those who do not know her well,
to those who are meant,
to die on her hands.
But only those who are close to her heart,
knows her real name—
Special Agent, her title.
Her name,

My brain went to a weird place cause I was thinking about mythos and how various beings came into creation, such as Athena literally being born from thoughts and busting her way out of Zeus' head. And then I thought of how weird shit happens in DC comics, after all Superman used to be able to shot tiny supermen from his Hands!
And I was like well Ghost King!Ancient of Space! Danny would totally end up with a surprise child thanks to Superhero Comic antics...
AND MY BRAIN IMMEDIATELY WENT TO BART BEING DANNY'S KID THROUGH THE SPEEDFORCE AND FLASHPOINT ANTICS DUE TO HIM DECIDING TO TAKE A NAP WITHIN THE SPEEDFORCE.

I think it’s really interesting how Athena quite literally never got to be a child. Thanks to being born from her fathers head she was never a baby, never a toddler, never a child, never a teenager, and if she was it was in her fathers stomach. While a Gods childhood isn’t long most if not all of Zeus’ other children got the chance to have one, she never did.
At least Zeus' other children have a time when they can be free from responsibilities and have fun like normal kids do. Artemis and Apollo were free to explore the wilderness. Persephone grew up happily with her nymph friends.
Athena never knew what "childhood happiness" was. When she was "born" from Zeus' head, she was already in battle armor and ready to take the role of a goddess.
I think this lack of childishness in her life will make her feel like she is never complete. She hasn't lived life to the fullest like the others - and probably never will.

I was struck with the worst brainrot over this one idea so onto the blog it goes.
(Disclaimer: This is all based off of my interpretation of Greek Mythology and is NOT AT ALL meant to be accurate to the original myths or disrespectful in any way. This is just a thought experiment.)
Anyways I'm going to infodump about Apollo and Metis' nonexistent son
Ok so basically, I think when reading the original greek myths, it would not be too much of a stretch to assume that Apollo is the living incarnation of Metis' unborn son. For those of you who don't know, Metis was Zeus' lover before Hera, and the mother of Athena. When she became pregnant with Athena, a prophecy foretold that her second child, a son, would eventually overthrow Zeus. To prevent this, Zeus ate Metis, and that's why Athena pops out of Zeus' head a couple of years later.
What does this have to do with Apollo? Well, for one thing, Apollo is the only second son Zeus has ever had. We know he was born second since Artemis literally helps Leto give birth to him. He's also considered to be one of the most talented gods on Olympus (this is not just me being biased I swear guys-) He's the god of the most things out of all the Olympians, and was also just a considerably popular deity throughout Greece. It wouldn't be the wildest guess to connect him with the prophecized revolutionary son of Metis.
He also has a lot of connections to Athena. Apollo and Athena are often seen as Zeus' left and right hands, and they're both gods of knowledge. In a few ways, Apollo and Athena seem like two sides of the same coin. Athena is a virgin goddess, while Apollo is known for his lovers. Athena specializes in war and strategy, while Apollo focuses on the arts. Despite this, both of them dabble a bit in the other's domains: Apollo with his archery and Athena with her handicraft. This isn't to prove that Apollo is super close to Athena or anything, he has a lot more connections with Artemis. It just shows that there is something there, if you really squint at it.
I will say that this only works best in certain timelines. Greek mythology doesn't have a specific canon as much as it has multiple different beliefs that coalesce into the basic story we know now. Because of this, we don't really know if Athena came before or after the twins? It's actually really funny because we have these two truths:
In Apollo's birth myth (I tried to find the specific version but I couldn't ;-;) It is said that he declared all versions of prophecy inferior to his own. Athena, who had been divinating with pebbles at the time, was so upset that she cast away her stones. This obviously implies that Athena was alive for a bit before Apollo was born.
On one of the pediments of the Parthenon in Athens, the birth of Athena is depicted. Apollo and Artemis can both be seen in the crowd of gods watching the birth. This obviously implies that Apollo was alive for a bit before Athena was born.
There are historical reasons for this discrepancy, but from a myth stance it's just really funny.
(It also means we don't know who the true Olympian middle child is. It's either Artemis or Apollo, depending on where Athena falls. I guess they can just share lol.)
I bring all this up because if Apollo was born AFTER Athena, things start falling into place. Zeus eats Metis, certain that in doing so he circumvented the prophecy. Athena is "born" and all seems well. But we all know that prophecy is not something that anyone can truly prevent. So, the next time Zeus has children, they're twins, with the second born being a son who will eventually overthrow him. A classic Greek tragedy, honestly.
It's also very interesting because technically, Apollo DID overthrow Zeus. Or at least, he did in a historical sense. Around 275 A.D., The Romans would start celebrating the birth Sol Invictus (The Unconquered Sun). This elevated the god of the sun, who at this point was an Apollo very transformed from his original depiction, above every other god in the Roman pantheon. This continued for a while, and a bit later Constantine I declared Dies Solis (Sunday) to be the day of rest, in dedication to this version of the god of the sun. By the end of the Roman empire, Apollo was definitely more popular than his father.
Btw, if Sunday being the day of rest sounded familiar, that's because this is actually where Christianity starts to co-opt pagan religions a bit, like always. Jesus' birthday actually also comes from this time period, as both Christmas and the birth of Sol Invictus fall on December 25th. So yes, technically, if you really stretch it, Apollo turns into Jesus.
ALL OF THIS is simply to say that Apollo could very much be the foreseen killer of Zeus, and I think that's very girlboss of him.
As a reward for reading this far, have this piece I did of Apollo if he got less time in the sun, was Athena's full brother, and also maybe committed some patricide.

roots for moro!
OH FOR MORO! YES
roots: Is your OC's look inspired by any specific style of clothing or fashion trend? What are the roots and/or inspiration for their look?
Morolai has quite a FEW different looks and themes that go with them, and each can be charted with different points of her story. So I'm going to talk about her key/core designs first!
HAIR: The big, 80s-style XMen hair was the very first thing I put down to paper for her. I wanted BIG. PURPLE. HAIR. I can't remember the initial inspiration for it even, but I know I've loved Storm's older designs for so so long and LOVE THE HAIR. A lot of times when I make characters they already spring out of my head mostly formed, like Athena with Zeus lol.
CLAWS: Came immediately after the hair. Gradient claws/fingers/hands is SUCH a favorite design element of mine. I'd been looking for a character to do it with for a little while and my draconic bloodrager was the perfect choice.
Tumblr media
EARS: Came later! I was looking for more ways to show off her draconic heritage that wasn't explicitly scales. Mino has scales, and as much as I love love love scales, I didn't want TWO heavily scaled characters (out of consideration for the artists I commission lmao). So, modifying her half-elf ears to be serrated and blackened like a dragon was the key here! I ultimately really like how they've come out.
WINGS: Also came way later! I didn't want her to always have wings. I wanted them to be a body-horror type event for her, representing how weird it is to spontaneously grow wings at like level 12 or whatever it is. I also wanted to lean more on her claw fighting-ness and one immediately thing loomed in my mind: Nero's deviltrigger form from DMC.
Tumblr media
They come out the back and instead of a single talon are hands with claws, AND! They cling to his shoulders like a cape. I shamelessly borrowed this design for Moro but made them look more draconic to fit with her aesthetic.
Tumblr media
Okay now for
OUTFIT:
First, Moro is a half-elf bastard in the literal sense: her elven mother had an affair with a mysterious man she thought was a fellow elf in Greengold. Unknown to her, he was a half-elf with a powerful latent draconic bloodline that skipped right over him, but still presented in mostly elven features. Her mother's husband put together that the child was not his after Moro was born in Kyonin, and to hide the great embarrassment to their family name [quite well-known and powerful politicians] they raised her as a servant. Moro was raised forced to clean up after her mother and half-siblings, knowing all the lavishness was just as rightfully hers--and something in her very being told her she deserved it.
As a young teen, that thing in her awoke, that black dragon who had been coveting that which was denied to her since her birth. In a moment of rage towards her not-father, she grew her claws and tore off his face. This was not a moment of horror for her, but of actualization and euphoria. She WAS powerful. She WAS deserving. She WAS RIGHT.
She was also a criminal, so she fled, but happily! lol
Her early look from the start of Kingmaker is very much that of a woman who is escaping repression: it's revealing and slutty and has so many design elements of all the things she's wanted and was never able to take for herself! A little hippy, a little boho, a little goth, a little refined, a little of a Varisian slant here or Ustalavic there as she starts experimenting with looks that are distinctly NOT Kyonin. It's out there and a little tacky and overdone in places! But this is a young woman who has been dressed in rags her whole life that has a DRAGON in her heart that wants more and more and more. She's got to make up for lost time with everything at once.
Tumblr media
Her tastes are mercurial through the years as she becomes Baroness and then Queen of the Stolen Lands, though begin to take on spite and pettiness as her main themes. She will specifically commission and wear outfits tailored for her enemies as she meets them to get under their skin.
By https://twitter.com/eliskimm
Meeting Irovetti and Rushlight Tournament:
VERY slutty, very reminiscent of the pirate troubles and such throughout Pitax! Especially revealing to drive him absolutely insane.
Tumblr media
Going after Nyrissa
Plants. Plants plants plants. "I'm going to wear you like a fucking ribbon after I'm done with you." Very purposefully selected to earn the nymph's rage and ire... I imagine she wore something similar when meeting with the Kyonin hunting parting for Jaethal, too!
Tumblr media
Both above by https://twitter.com/bluepigart
QUEEN:
It's been years at this point. Moro is older and more mature. She's settled comfortably into colors like deep red and purple and black, but there's one major thing that lives through her design motifs: thorns and roses and flowers. Triumphing over Nyrissa, she's taken the dark floral motif as an aesthetic of her rule. Even her crown is made from the remains of Briar, and still contains motes of the nymph's sorrow and despair in it.
Tumblr media
She revels in it.
By https://twitter.com/kitnkamoodle
One last thing - headband!
The main thing that doesn't change is her headband/hair-covering! When I made Moro's initial design, the big hair was the first thing followed by the ears and claws. I leaned on the lolita fashion for this, a little lacey bonnet type of deal, and decided to incorporate it into her story: it's like a cleaner's hair covering. She'd wear them all the time as a servant for the household and wearing a very similar but fashionable article there instead as a deliberate choice is like a personal fuck-you and reminder to herself where she came from.

Okay so like how do the goddess pinks know that their darling is the one? Like do they know at first sight or is it like a gradual realisation?
ah so this was touched on a bit in the profiles and is a bit more in the first reaction but!!! i will take this chance to explain it fully!!!
so here's how the myth goes in my head, for all of the newer children of the gods/goddesses (aka sons of Hades, daughters of Aphrodite, etc) who are born from the true love that the Fates cannot truly define, they are born with one the Fates can.
meaning, when they are born and their fates are...created by, well, the Fates their lover is destined for them. their fate is sealed by a strand from the core of the moon, and one made from the flames of the sun is tied in their lover's soul (look at me being fancy~~~)
however, with this small equation, it was basically guaranteed that the goddesses would sacrifice everything for their destined lover, so Zeus, Poseidon, and Hades created shackles for them, made from the opposite of their core element to suppress their knowledge of their lover. Only when all of the Olympians agree would the shackles be broken.
After that, well they'll know everything there is to know about their lover from some simple research, they'll probably talk to Athena before they find them (aka the first reaction)
now as to how they know that this person will be their true love? well, they can't feel love for anyone else. literally, they cannot form that romantic attachment to anyone else, immortal or not. that's why all of their past relationships, they view more as hookups.

Wonder Woman! What do you think of her, what are her orginis, and are you excited for her upcoming game?
Ah~
Tumblr media
Wonder Woman!
DC's main heroine
So, first off... SHE HAS A NEW GAME COMING OUT?! I HAVEN'T HEARD! WHAT THE FUCK?! HELL YEAH!
Cough cough
Sorry about that
Next, what I like. She is strong, but she is kind. Kindness, caring, love is who she is at the core. She could easily cut someone's head off, but she would prefer to sit down and talk to them through their problems
She is literally the middle ground between Superman's day and Batman's night, while still being her own thing.
Now for her origin.
Born in the Island of the Amazon's, an island who's name my dyslexia will not let me spell, Diana was moulded by clay and given life by the gods. Given beauty by Aphrodite, a fighters skill by Artemis, a brilliant mind from Athena and love from Hera. She eventually left her island to help the world when Steve Trevor crash landed on her island
Later interpretations tried to retcon her into being the literal daughter of Zeus by having the lightning god force himself on Hera or him being the one tingive her life... I don't like that

pspspsp i am asking u to info dump about greek myths rn bc i never got into em when i was younger bc i didnt know where to lear about them sooobbbsss
I FORGOR
okay so uhhh just a disclaimer while i am a greek mythology enthusiast i am also not a reliable source AVSJA and i mostly like. stories from different sources and different interpretation. like when i see a myth i like to just take it and be weird abt it
my favorite example: icarus. from the main source, he's the son of dedalus and they got locked in his father's labyrinth, right. and dedalus made wax wings for icarus, and warned him to not get too close to the sun, otherwise the wings would melt. but icarus did it anyway, and fell into the sea
on the other side you have 2 icons for the sun: apollo, the god of sun and arts, and helios, the literal allegory for the sun, who rode the solar chariot every day (hence the rising and setting sun).
what drew icarus to fly too high was hubris, kind of the arrogation of mankind & its consequences (im rly dumbing it down bc i myself am dumb btw. and french so. words. excuses). but i like to involve apollo and/or helios in that, and to extrapolate a lot, often with the common trope of love (not necessarily romantic or sexual) between a deity and a mortal. ik a lot of people who are into mythology (especially in the spiritual sense, but not just them) hate the "fandomification" of myths but i personally like being silly about it and actually often draw parallels between (extrapolated) myths and ocs and/or characters. icarus/apollo/helios make me think of xiaoventher for example!!! so im 0% normal about them:)
anyway yeah the main point is that my enjoyment of greek myths is kind of surface-level, i could brainrot abt certain stories like narcissus and echo but i might start vibrating out of existence. also find hades and persephone to have an amazing story but it was slightly ruined by the comic lore olympus 💀
however a few funny things imo: hephaistos (not 100% sure that's his name in eng.....) was so ugly his own mother, hera, threw him off a cliff as an infant. zeus has to put him in his calf to let him kind of heal??? athena was also born fully grown and with her whole armor from zeus' HEAD. insanity
BUT YEAH IDK I LOVE IT but i also have a very bad memory so. i did get a whole class studying the gods 2 years ago tho, that was so cool. but i never read percy jackson 😔
tbh id say reading ovid's metamorphoses that's really good!! it's kind of an anthology with a shit ton of myths, and one of the most popular sources so i rly love it <333 and there's also the iliad and the odyssey for troy's war (with namely achilles, ajax etc) and odysseus' journey from troy to his wife and kid. it's kind of hard to read imo, but sort of the base material so ZBDJZN

Glad you and @tardisspacemug both liked my ideas for the Shi AU! It’s definitely pretty heartwrenching, but I figure there could be lots of room for a few different scenarios to unfold there, so I really wanted to put those ideas out there and see what you guys would think of them. And after reading through your responses to that last ask, I had a few more thoughts on this that I wanted to share.
First off, yeah, Option 1 would absolutely be a major tearjerker. 😅 That one definitely feels like the Bad/Bittersweet Ending out of those three scenarios (although at least it’s not a potential Much-Worse Ending where Ghidorah wins and Shi ends up being trapped with them forever), but I feel like it could still be very bittersweet and heartfelt. I’m picturing an ending scene where, after Godzilla incinerates Shi’s head, Vivienne has a vision where she reunites with Serizawa, and they have a final moment together before walking off into the sunset. I think that could be really beautiful, although personally I’d probably leave it somewhat ambiguous as to whether that moment was actually them reuniting in the afterlife or whether it was more of a Dying Dream that just allows Vivi/Shi’s spirit to finally rest in peace.
Out of those three scenarios, I think Option 2 is definitely my favorite: if I was to actually write out a one-shot or short story for any of those concepts, that one would probably be it. I definitely agree that Vivi/Shi would have a lot to do to make amends for all the things that she did when she was a part of Ghidorah, but I feel like the fact that she was forcibly converted into a monster by the “main” Ghidorah and that she was ultimately just as much of a victim as anyone else would be a pretty strong point in her favor, at least as far as the Monarch characters’ opinions would play into it. She’d definitely have a lot of guilt & grief to deal with, though, especially once she finds out that Serizawa sacrificed himself to bring Godzilla back (although I could also see a very heartfelt moment where Goji tries to comfort her by telling her about Serizawa’s last moments, similarly to how he remembered Serizawa in Abraxas). Her not having San around to help her out would be tough, but I imagine Godzilla & Mothra would still take her in and teach her everything she needs to know about how to use her new abilities properly. And yeah, I could also picture a scenario where Godzilla tells Rodan that as his penance/punishment for fighting alongside Ghidorah, he gets to help teach their new ally how to fly/hunt/etc as a form of Titan-style “community service.” Rodan would obviously be pretty annoyed by that at first, but I could see him loosening up a bit eventually (possibly helped by how eye-catching this new silver dragon Titan has become). 😄
For that route, I even thought of a couple of potential names for Shi’s new reborn form, as “Titanus Abraxas” probably wouldn’t work as a name for this version since she wouldn’t have the two-in-one thing going on. I’m thinking either Titanus Samsara (as “Samsara” is the concept of a cycle of reincarnation, which would line up pretty well with Vivienne’s having essentially been reborn/reincarnated multiple times in that scenario), or Titanus Athena (as 1: Athena was a goddess of both wisdom and war, which could work nicely for a scientist-turned-Titan, and 2: Athena was literally born from Zeus’s head, so that name seems almost too perfect in this case). I feel like either of those could potentially work really well.
And for Option 3, yeah, I get what you guys mean! For one idea, maybe the mind-transfer from Shi’s head to Mechagodzilla’s body has to be temporary at first, since the mecha doesn’t have a good enough battery life to host her consciousness for long periods of time, and that’s how Apex convinces Monarch to work with them on the Hollow-Earth expedition to collect a sample of the Zohar: if it can be used to give Mechagodzilla a long-term, auto-renewing power source, they’ll be able to make the mind-transfer effectively permanent so Vivi/Shi’s mind can remain in the mecha’s body for as long as she wants.
Also, just as a random thought, I’m imagining that Mechagodzilla’s colors in this version might change based on who’s in control: like, maybe its internal glow & Proton Scream are blue or green in color when Vivi/Shi is in charge, but then it shifts into the Abraxasverse Mecha-G’s purple coloration when the secondary command system activates and she gets locked out of the system as a human pilot takes control. I’m picturing a scene where, after Mechagodzilla gets the Zohar and is fully charged-up, “Mecha-Shi” emerges from the Apex headquarters and happily greets Godzilla (who would probably have been drawn to Hong Kong by a hidden ORCA 2.0 broadcast in this version, since the rest of Ghidorah is still perma-dead in this scenario). Goji isn’t sure what to make of Vivi/Shi's new body at first, but he recognizes her voice, so he isn’t hostile towards the Mecha… until suddenly, Shi gets locked out of the body’s control mechanisms, Mechagodzilla freezes in place, and its coloring suddenly melts from blue or green into a sickly purple as an Apex pilot takes control and shifts the Mecha into attack mode.
The outcome that I’d probably go with for that scenario would be that, while the Apex-controlled Mechagodzilla is fighting both Godzilla & Kong, Maddie, Josh & Bernie manage to short out the main Apex computers like Josh did in canon, which also interferes with the Mecha’s secondary control system and gives Vivi/Shi the opportunity to start fighting back. She manages to tell Goji & Kong what’s going on, so rather than them charging up Kong’s axe and hacking Mecha-G to pieces like what happened in canon, they manage to help restrain the Mecha long enough for Vivi/Shi to fully override the secondary control system and purge that subroutine from its computers (while also possibly frying the brain of whichever unfortunate Apex pilot had seized control of the Mecha), allowing her to regain full control of that body.
Just a few more thoughts on each of those scenarios that I thought you guys might enjoy. 🙂
@tardisspacemug Check it out! More food for Shi AU thoughts!
Not sure what else I could add to this route; though I second the idea of a reunion with Serizawa in death being kept ambiguous. Whether she does see him again in the afterlife or it's simply the result of chemical reactions in the brain, either way Vivienne is freed from a horrifying extended existence she was forced into...
This I might go so far as to call the Best Ending of the three scenarios, because Vivienne is reborn as a wholly new being and is allowed to do what she will with the power bestowed upon her, but at the same time has to struggle with the guilt of having taken so many lives back when she was, well, Shi. Vivienne knows she was as much a victim of Ghidorah's cruelty, but acknowledges that it was by her own hand... jaws, claws, etc., that so many people died. Plus this version appeals to my inner child who grew up reading The Call of the Wild; life as a wild Titan is new and violent and scary, but if she's quick and clever, she can adapt. (Also, Titanus Athena really is a fitting title, something I actually touched on in Abraxas!) Ah, no matter what continuity they’re in, Rodan and Vivi just can’t escape the Belligerent Sexual Tension, can they?
Perhaps Mecha-Shi could be the Good Ending? I like the idea of Mecha-Vivi's color glow being blue or green, because the former ties into how the color palette of Vivienne's colors changed to blue in KOTM to make her look like she belongs in Castle Bravo (plus it means she's flying her King's colors, heh), while the latter subverts a common trope of "undead" figures being associated with a sickly green if they're not associated with a wispy blue. Ah, but this route also won't be immune to the guilt of causing death and destruction caused during the time Vivienne wasn't in control of her mechanical body, even if those weren't directly her fault. (Silly little side note, but I just pictured after all the chaos of wresting control of her new body back and Goji and Kong stop trying to kill each other, Mecha-Vivi really takes a moment to to survey her surroundings and actually starts laughing to herself... because look how FUCKING TALL she is now!)

Hi, so I don't want to come across as rude, but don't want to act like I don't mean what I'm about to say.
This is relating your post:https://gorgonapologist.tumblr.com/post/643477178740342787/theres-a-relatively-small-but-very-vocal-amount
This post was just plain repulsive due to the fact that you thought it was alright for you to call a young hero who was literally just trying to protect his mother “a misogynist” for killing a monster that he was always supposed to kill anyways due to the prophecy which was out of his hands. He didn't choose to be forced into the prophecy.
Aswell as that he was sent by a literal goddess (Athena) to kill her, what was he supposed to say “no”.
I bet you also shit on Poseidon and Athena
-
Literally like
Say you don’t know anything about Greek mythology without saying you don’t know anything about Greek mythology
-.
Well it’s actually more like King Polydektes sent him to kill Medusa but I believe he had the help of Athena as well and definitely had the help of Hermes due to the winged shoes and cap.
Instead of calling out actual misogynistic men you are calling out a 15 year old boy who was fulfilling a prophecy
like he killed her because… that’s what heroes do… they kill monsters
literally half the post makes no sense even the premise of it doesn’t make senselike the “Medusa holding the head of Perseus” concept is really interesting to me
but to some people it may not be interesting… and you draw that to misogyny???I’d understand if Ovid’s version was the only one
but there are tons of versions, and some people may look at the one where Medusa was born a gorgon
For one medusa wasnt r@ped that was Roman mythology. And Perceus is Greek.
All in all, get your fact right.
i debated whether or not to respond to this because you are clearly either a child or very uneducated but you sent this on anon so there's no harm to me answering this; if you sent it off anon i would not be posting this.
A vast majority of what you said was simply nonsensical or shows that all you know about this myth you learned from tumblr. I honestly feel bad for you. I think you should educate yourself outside of tumblr and maybe then your arguments will have merit.
Right off the bat I think it's strange that you criticize me for using Ovid's writing of Medusa and yet you use his interpretation of Perseus. A bit hypocritical, no? I read through other sources depicting the Medusa/Perseus violence and have found absolutely none that indicate he was forced to do so or that there was a prophecy. (The prophecy was actually that Perseus would kill his father, which was why his mother was locked into a tower. Zeus shapeshifted into a beam of light to rape her. There is no mention of Medusa here.) (EDIT: he was prophesized to kill his grandfather, not his father; that was my mistake. He killed his grandfather accidentally during a sporting tournament. I think he didn’t know it was his grandfather at the time.)
Here is one non-Ovidian source of the murder:
Tumblr media
[Suidas s.v. Medousa]
Here we have a Perseus who kills her for greed. He wants power. Medusa here is kind to him, engaging in conversation with him, and as soon as he learned her name he murdered her and used it as his own weapon. He stole the power of a woman to establish his own dominance of innocent people (surely he was unable to ensure that all who were 'destroyed' by Medusa's dead eyes were guilty, though to this Perseus, 'guilty' must have meant 'in his way').
Perhaps that's not enough for you. Here is one of the earliest mentions of Medusa (the earliest literary source is Homer, which mentions her only as a head and has no reference to Perseus being her killer):
Tumblr media
[Hesiod, Theogony 270 ff (trans. Evelyn-White) (Greek epic C8th or C7th B.C.)]
As you can see, there is no mention of his being forced to do this.
Ovid puts the story in Perseus' mouth:
Tumblr media
[Ovid, Metamorphoses 4. 770 ff (trans. Melville) (Roman epic C1st B.C. to C1st A.D.)]
Medusa 'deserved' to die because she was cursed for being raped. Perseus is the one to tell her story as Ovid tells it. Ovid is also the one who establishes why Perseus sought her out to kill her. And he is not 'fifteen years old' (not sure where you got that; all mentions of Perseus' age have him as 'fully grown'). He is a grown man murdering a rape victim. You think that his intentions are noble and that heroes are meant to murder monsters but if he was a hero, he would not need the power of a raped woman to save his mother. He is a grown ass man. A whole man. He had the help of multiple gods, his hand was held the entire way, he was never in any notable danger. And yet you defend him like HE was the one who was raped and murdered.
Still not satisfied? Here is yet another Perseus killing Medusa:
Tumblr media
[Pausanias, Description of Greece 2. 21. 5 - 6]
He killed her because she was beautiful and he wanted to show his friends. He wanted a beautiful trophy to show his friends. He wanted a decapitated head to show his friends what a man he is. I can't believe this is the man you're defending.
I think you have a problem with empathy. I think you're a misogynist who cannot conceive of any narrative that doesn't center men. I'm a sexual violence survivor who found meaning in the Medusa myth. She helped me heal. I fully believe that she saved my life. Perseus, on the other hand, is just a coward. He doesn't deserve to be celebrated. You make no mention of what he does after Medusa; he doesn't hurry off to save his mother. He comes across Andromeda and, after rescuing her from a sea monster, turns the majority of her court to stone and kidnaps her to be his bride. No mention is made of Andromeda's thoughts on this; the story is told from Perseus' mouth so of course Andromeda loved him at first sight, a traumatized woman chained naked to a cliff and about to be devoured. (In fact, he didn't even save her right away. He bargained with her parents first for the right to wed her and he would not save her until she was promised to be his.)
Then he killed her intended betrothed when he protested.
Perseus is not a hero. He is a cowardly man. Read a real book for once. And never send me this misogynist shit ever again.

Honestly the more I contemplate it the more I think Dream's ultimate skill is his ability to cater to so many different audiences and demographics
Y'all just think about it:
Manhunt is obviously built for a wide audience with the action and the tension, it can grasp even people who don't play Minecraft
His Minecraft but... series is catered toward general Minecraft audiences who might like just entertaining and funny challenges with good friend dynamics
The way he fostered the Dream SMP which just spawned into its own freaking thing like Athena being born out of Zeus' head clearly grasped the RP and story-centric communities
DNF has literally CONQUERED the shippy rpf YouTube community both because it's m|m, they're literally so open for it and ENCOURAGE IT, they don't even care ebought explicit fic and their chemistry just blurs the line between platonic and romantic
His dream shorts channel has done wonders toward the tik tok community seeing as they're so short and catch your attention
His analytical takes on his own manhunts and other subjects not to mention his skill and competitiveness in mcc, challenges, etc. take the crown in bringing attention from competitive and more analysis based crowds
I always bring back that one quote he used a few months ago when he was talking to Tommy about those compilation channels of Dream and George moments
"I want my content to be used in every which way possible because I grow"
Does anyone else see this!?!?!? At this point 19 million subscribers isn't just a benchmark, it was a freaking inevitability!!! DREAM CRACKED THE FUCKING CODE!
You know what. I'm doing it. I want to write a critical academic essay on this guy for a legimate research fellowship or project. That's my next goal. I leggit can't even-

The reasoning behind the God’s designs part 1: Minerva, Jupiter, Juno, Mars, Vulcan, Venus, Mercury (NS/FW text warning)
Minerva: The first one I initially designed years ago, started off as me wanting to just make her a big ugly brain monster with a toothy smile (which ended up being the main design motif of the gods)
There is a myth that Athena-Minerva had a mother named Metis, who Zeus-Jupiter turned into a fly and ate to prevent the birth of a son prophesied to overthrow him (leading to her giving birth inside him and Athena/Minerva emerging from his head fully grown). The story ended up making me imagining her as some sort of botfly-like entity. Been wanting to make her chin more proboscis-like to make the fly thing more obvious and also makes her slightly elephant-like
Tumblr media
Athena/Minerva is described as having blue eyes in sources so I guess I kept one thing about her appearance accurate.
Jupiter: the story of him accendentally vaporizing Semele when he revealed his true nature as a god + taking the form of rain when conceiving Perseus made me want to go with him being a living storm or lightening in some way. Ended up taking the form of a little ball because I wanted him to look as unlike his usual wise grandpa design as possible. Made his eye red cause the red spot on (the planet) Jupiter
Tumblr media
Juno: Combined animals strongly associated with her (Cows, peacocks) into something that looks like “the queen of the heavens”, her horns being her “crown”, a "cape” like a peacock’s train. Wanted her to have somewhat of a cosmic look, since the story that the Milky Way was created from her spilled breast milk. The exterior of her cape is whiteish because at one point  I was going to try to make it look a bit like a wedding gown since she’s the Goddess of marriage, but i don't know how much that remained in the final design.
Gave her a lot of eyes cause her association with Argus/peacocks, often being described as “Cow eyed”, as well as her watchful nature.
Mars: There was no mythological basis for him being ape-like it just felt right for a war god. Ares and Mars traditionally are not strongly associated with phallic imagery (Mercury/Hermes, Dionysus/Liber, and Roman Vesta were much more so), but (Roman) Mars association with Virility and masculinity and (Greek) Ares association with being his family's embarrassment lead to his Priapus-like...anatomy.
His helmet started off as a strange combination of a galea helmet and a handgun. His shape and cool scheme was inspired by hearts (mostly artistic renditions depicting them with blue veins)
Tumblr media
Venus: Her (literal)fluid nature is both because beauty is subjective and depends on person to person so it made sense to make her shapeshifting...but also because in the most common story of her birth she was born from the seafoam that formed around castration of the personification of the sky Ouranos (ew...) and emerged fully formed from the water, hence why she's so..goopy and watery.
The black markings on her were initially inspired by the black “mask” on swans, symbol of love and beauty and are nasty birds, as well as Common Dolphins and marble.
Tumblr media
She has a lot of different forms, but her one for Vulcan has no arms like the Venus de Milo, somewhat fits his artisan nature. Her form around Mars is based around the fact Aphrodite likely has origins as a war Goddess, maybe she likes Mars cause he keeps her closer to her roots.
Vulcan: Based very loosely off a crab, both because the disposition I gave him, as well as unevenly build arms (since he's a blacksmith). According to one source  he was associated with crabs and called “crab footed”, but I'm not sure if that was a source of inspiration I've forgotten about from years ago, or if it's a coincidence.
He is tripedal, both because the god has created wheeled auto-mobile tripods in mythology, and also because tripedal locomotion in animals and machines gives a limping gait.
Mercury: Based off a tortoise since it's a symbol of the god and having a god associated with speed be a tortoise is kinda funny. Two mouths because he's the god of messages and a trickster. The feathery antenna and birdish look were based on Mercury’s  winged cap and sandals. Putting his eyes on his shell was a purely aesthetic decision but someone else asked if it was because he's a god in my setting who always backstabs and therefor has to watch his own back, which is better reasoning then what I had.
The rainbow color scheme was inspired by the other messager of Olympus, the Goddess and personification of rainbows Iris. The way the colors were arranged on him was inspired by parrots.

☠ for Lucifer please!
☠ - angry/violent headcanon
Look. Lucifer is the Avatar of Pride and a Gemini. That’s one helluva concoction.
We’ve already seen how he channels his anger in canon -- he has no qualms about yelling or arguing or straight up lashing out at whoever pisses him off.
(lord diavolo is the sole exception to that, I think)
Out of all of his brothers, Lucifer is the most likely to shift into his demon form when he’s angry. He uses it as a display of power -- anybody in their right mind is gonna be terrified at the implications.
(But -- sometimes it’s funny. Like the time when Belphie declared that he would cook every night for an entire week but every single meal was going to be boiled hotdogs only and Lucifer just shifted into his demon form without a single word)
Needless to say, I hope you have fast reflexes -- because if you’re standing near him when he shifts, you’re absolutely going to get blasted with a face full of feathers when his wings explode out from his back.
He’s not above petty revenge, like, at all. But he is damn good at executing it in a way that makes ya wonder if he really had anything to do with the sudden misfortune that befell whatever poor soul was dumb enough to anger him.
Lucifer can be incredibly cold and calculating, and I’m a firm believer that he knows exactly how and what to say to cut straight through somebody’s heart and pound it into the dirt. He doesn’t need to mince words to make somebody cry.
His fury has rolled over the three realms once before -- the force of it is nothing to sneeze at. The last time he let it fester inside of him, it literally manifested into a whole ass person.
(He’s been a wee bit calmer ever since Satan was born. Kinda.)
((He is very afraid that it could happen again though, so he’s not big on stewing in his anger anymore))
But.
But.
If you know that he’s pissed off, but he’s like. hella cheery and smiley -- just the absolute happiest son of a bitch you’ve ever seen?
Run.
Doesn’t matter if he’s angry at somebody else. You’re not going to want to be within a thousand miles of him until he’s calmed down.
And if he’s that angry at you? RIP.
ALL THAT BEING SAID.
There’s one surefire way to get him to instantly calm down.
Make him laugh.
okay, angry sex is a good outlet too
But seriously, if he’s getting all heated and pissed off, but you figure out how to make him laugh? It’s a game changer. It’s like a switch gets flipped somewhere in that wonderful brain of his, and he won’t be able to stay (that) angry for long.
Also, y’might wanna be prepared for another emotion baby to just spring outta him like Athena from Zeus’s head. It happened once, so it could probably happen again, just saying

I think it's funny that SMeyer gave a child to the only couple, in which we had three books to know, who have no emotional maturity at all. I think that after Jasper and Alice, they are the last Cullens I imagined as parents. And they're not even good. Also, Merry Christmas!
I still have SUCH a hard time seeing them as parents? It’s so strange. I sort of see the whole thing more as like, Bella might have happened to birth Renesmee but she’s being collectively raised by four sets of parents rather than “being” E/B’s chid and having aunts/uncles/grandparents. And that’s clearly not what SM was going for, but that’s kind of how my brain tries to make it work because they just . . . he’s eternally seventeen? She actively did not want kids? Even after she’s born, while they love her, they’re still so wrapped up in their own love story that Renesmee still seems like an afterthought, or a trophy of their love rather than a fully realized person. “Look! We love each other SO much we had an impossible child!”
Also I feel like Renesmee was never a baby/child and was more like Athena, sprung forth as an adult from Zeus’s head rather than born. Renesmee may look tiny, but she’s not a ‘baby’ mentally.
It just felt like the whole Renesmee thing came out of left-field. And maybe if we had had Forever Dawn right after Twilight, it would have worked. Because we wouldn’t have spent more time with them in the middle books, but I just . . . I had a really hard time making “Dadward” and “Momella” work in my head. It doesn’t feel natural for them, and more than that, it doesn’t feel necessary. Their happily ever after was each other. They wanted to spend eternity making sweet, sweet vampire love and staring dreamily into each other’s eyes. That’s all they wanted/needed.
The baby was not something they wanted. It’s something SM wanted them to have. And sure, unexpected pregnancies happen. And sometimes the parents are overjoyed and are thrilled and step up and realize this was something they wanted all along. Happens all the time in real life. But this is fiction. Real life doesn’t have to be consistent, but characters and fiction are supposed to, and the Bella who was just like “RIP to you but I’m different” to Rosalie’s confession of longing for children, or who dismissively says “Rosalie and Esme get by just fine” without being able to have babies in Breaking Dawn (literally A MONTH before Renesmee is born!) just does not feel motherly to me . . . at all. And Edward is such a lost boy, still so attached to his own (vampire) parents, that him being a father is still strange to me.

anti LO anon opinions
(1) Hot take: Anyone can make a comic where the characters are different colors and have a lineless style. I feel like because of how popular it got, if you even try to do something with monocolor schemes, LO fans will think you're copying. It's a lot easier to make characters one color and a completely valid way of making art/comics. No one owns a lineless art or monocolors tho.I'd love to see comics that use colors like LO does but in a way that makes more sense.
(2) R.. Rachel knows Demeters a fertility goddess- right??? She knows that there's like a billion fertility goddesses in greek mythology right?!
(3) LO Ouranos' design is just confirming once again Smythe can only think of these gods in a Abrahamic fashion instead of their actual ancient context and society. That's why the Maidens are seen as regressive prudes, why there's such an emphasis on "purity", why men hold more power/status, why Minthe, who is the evil lustful woman compared to the good virginal Persephone, is designed literally like a devil/succubus, why sex outside of marriage/several partners is seen as bad, the list goes on.
(4) So why does Ouranos have 6 eyes in the recent chapter? Does it signify he will have 6 sons (plus 6 daughters, but unlikely the daughters are included) who will eventually overthrow him?
I noticed that both Gaia and Persephone both have hair that sometimes look like leaves, so I guess both Hades and Ouranos have a thing for women who will never "Leaf" them (I'm a language major, sorry for my weird puns)
PS, a friend of mine joked that "if Ouranos has 6 eyeballs, does this mean he also have 6 male reproductive organs? 😏" (And also Aphrodite was born from the Sea foam of Ouranos bits and pieces so...)
(5) Read the latest LO chapter, and they sure did my favorite goddess Demeter dirty by making her an overdramatic laughing stock and a quacky (whacky) mother to boot.
I think it's very disrespectful to turn a mythological wonderful loving mother who has a very healthy mother-daughter relationship with her children (Persephone) and a very dedicated and responsible Godess who is in charge of the four seasons be reduced to a laughingstock and a boss whose employees throw a party/sleaze around when she's not at work.
(6) Obviously Demeter and co. are being drawn this way in preparation for everyone to deal with Henson Co. adapting it. they only deal with childish designs like that (barring the gross puppets they like to do too. prepare LO to be full of fart and barf jokes) and it'll be much easier for them to design if the comic does the same (this is sarcasm btw. It's more likely RS has just gotten lazy and know they could spit on paper and the fandom will eat it up. why put effort into your work, right?)
(7) The only unique design LO ever does is random splotches of color, white lines for scars, pointy ears, and extra eyes, and that's at the absolute most. You could say Punderworld also suffers some same faces (especially the women) but you can also tell who is who by their outfits, props, and variations in features.
(8) This is a minor complaint but LO Hecate's design is so ugly 😭she looks like an edgy moodboard take on Edna Mode. She's supposed to be this badass witch yet looks just as boringly business as everyone else. Also wasn't she not involved with Hades until after Persephone is married? Wasn't she Persephone's companion first in myth? Why is she Hades' best friend instead and only interacted with Persephone for a study abroad semester?
(9) God, the pilot line in LO is so stupid. Are they telling us fertility goddesses are the only source of power to try and be like HAHA SEE PERSEPHONE DOESNT NEED HADES! HE NEEDS HER! Because 1) that means it’s setting up HADES to take over olympus/overthrow Zeus which is so!!! Ugh!!! Why are you messing with literal religion now?! Hades is a shit king in the underworld but she seems to want him as the head one too?! But also 2) shouldnt DEMETER be the most powerful and desired godess then? Seeing as she’s literally the fertility godess?? Why did Smythe literally skip over her to make Persephone more special?
Metis was included despite no fertility traits but the literal goddess who controls nature and the earth ISNT? How does that work?! Demeter literally made Persephone all by herself in comic but shes not in this special lineup? Not to mention it once again is making the women props for men and their games! Cant we just read a stupid romance without it being a shallow political game too?
Persephone is being used as a literal political chip and whoever “gets” her is now, essentially, holding the nuclear codes and can overthrow whoever they want.  we know it’ll be Hades, so he’s not only getting a super fertile wife to give him babies, he’s also getting a wife who never questions him, who does whatever he wants, and is now his tool to literally rule everything if he wants, which who knows, he might do so poor Hera is free of her loveless marriage because he’s just SO caring like that. Also, Apollo never wanted to overthrow Zeus?! Athena, Hera, and Poseidon did!
Does she know this is a romance comic and the jumping between stupid romance and earth-ending drama does not mesh well? God I’m mad. This is so stupid. The damn Disney movie showed more respect than this.

Medusa’s Child Stuff
I got two (2) people who reblogged the story with comments and now I think everyone loves the concept so here’s some of the ideas I have for the book
The child’s name is Theodora. Medusa calls her Teddi.
She is adopted when she is ten, spends three years with Medusa before Medusa is killed, and is fourteen when she finally gets her revenge on Perseus.
Medusa was not transformed into a Gorgon by Athena. This is based on the actual real story of Medusa, and that’s that she was born a Gorgon.
Medusa cannot turn women to stone, which is why Teddi survives their first encounter. Teddi was going to be blind, but that would hinder a lot of the necessary things that needed to happen in the story, like all the visuals and stuff.
Imagine Medusa’s conflict when she can’t feed her human child live rats.
Medusa’s tail makes the BEST blanket.
Medusa was simply trying to protect Teddi when Perseus came to their island. Nobody outside the island knew about Teddi, so Perseus had no idea Medusa had a daughter. And when he does finally realize, it was too late.
When Medusa was decapitated, Chrysaor and Pegasus were born from her spilled blood, technically making them the brothers of Teddi. And when I tell you Teddi freaked the hell out when this winged horse and winged boar formed from the gore of her dead mother—
Teddi goes into a deep state of mourning after Medusa was killed. Chrysoar and Pegasus watch her worriedly as she buries Medusa’s corpse, barely strong enough to even drag it to the grave site, weakened by all her crying. Pegasus steps in and helps pull the body the rest of the way, even though he didn’t know his mother like Teddi did.
It’s strange to call a winged horse and winged boar her brothers, but Teddi is just happy to not be alone.
After two weeks of being miserable, Teddi finally decides to do something. She gets Pegasus to fly her to the mainland so she can track down Perseus and get her revenge.
“Let’s go, brothers.” “🐴👄🐴” “🐗👄🐗”
The bad news is that Perseus is a demigod. She could kill him, but it would be extremely difficult in her current state. So she enlists the help of the gods.
She tries calling out to them first, then tries praying to them, and then she goes to Olympus because she’s tired of being ignored.
Except she can’t fucking get to Olympus because Zeus sent a bug to bite Pegasus while she was flying up on his back and she nearly fell to her death.
And every time she tries again, he always finds a way to stop her.
So Teddi becomes depressed all over again and screams for HOURS at the gods at the base of Mount Olympus, calling them cruel and evil and unhelpful and awful and a bunch of other stuff.
She finally decides to just kill Perseus without their help, but while she’s walking through the woods, she meets a mysterious woman who seems very interested in her.
This woman turns out to be Artemis!! And after explaining what happened, Artemis agrees to bless Teddi for a short amount of time so she can go beat up Perseus.
Hera and Leto also decide to help, too. For fun :)
Teddi literally beats the shit out of Perseus. She is BRUTAL.
And then she has to go find Athena and get her mom’s head back, which is VERY awkward mind you.
And then she’s on her way to the Underworld!
But the blessings of the goddesses are beginning to run out and she feels the full extent of her wounds. She was stabbed, cut, gashed, bruised, and has several fractured bones. Infections were starting to set in, too.
It gets harder and harder to get up every morning, but she pushes through the agony and illness.
But she eventually makes it to the Underworld!! After sitting on a fucking boat ride and passing by a giant three-headed dog, she finally sees Hades.
And so the bargaining begins.
Teddie is so hungry and thirsty and sleep deprived and marred from the fight with Perseus, but she manages to gather the energy to beg Hades for her mother back. She just wants to see her one more time.
“Your mother...is a snake” “Yeah, and your father ate your siblings, but you don’t see me judging”
Lol jk she’d start crying
Just imagine Persephone comes in, sees the child crying, and is like, “AGAIN? Oh, hey, is that Medusa’s d—” *child cries louder*
*Hades voice* “nice”
Cerberus gives Teddi all the licks to help comfort her
Hades agrees to revive Medusa and it’s such a touching moment when mother and daughter reunite 🥺
However, Teddi was so badly wounded that she ends up bleeding out in Medusa’s arms. But Hades very subtlety revives her into a little Gorgon (or contacts someone who can do that idk I don’t know Greek mythology) because he’s not about to let this reunion be ruined by another damn death. Not on his watch.
Orpheus, watching this child talk to Hades and get her mom back without any strings attached or any walking out of he Underworld without looking at her necessary: 👁👄👁
