I really like the intimacy of other people's rooms and other people's houses in fics, but especially in jmart fics.

(I've just finished season 2 so bear with me if I get some stuff wrong)

To the listeners, they live pretty much their whole lives in the institute. What we see of Jon and Martin are the parts of them they present at work (but I guess as things get worse, this is sort of thrown out the window, cause why try to be professional when you realise your workplace is literally evil and trapping you here). My point is that there's a certain part of both Jon and Martin that they don't see of each other, even if they spend a lot of time together in the institute and when they do fall in love, they obviously want to see those parts. But we don't see them. We don't know what Jon's or Martin's homes are like. Their rooms? Their beds? Whether they cook? Do they have messy desks? It's irrelevant to the plot line but that's what makes it special to us, the fact that we don't know what goes on there means 1. there was a little bit of their lives untouched by the horrors of the institute and 2. we can explore it in our headcanons and fics. They have that little bit for themselves and i'd read a thousand iterations of Martin getting nervous about seeing Jon's bedroom or vice versa because the level of intimacy is immediately deepened by the fact that this is more than their home, it's their little bit of safety. It's their place to fall apart or stare at the ceiling for hours, it's their place to process or numb or be free from the fears and shit. I like to think opening the door to their flat or whatever is like someone slowly and painfully removing a bandage from a wound. You can see all the viscera underneath and the context of their lives and it's powerful but also has the potential to be deeply sad.

Tumblr I can't find the Lonelyeyes fanfic where Elias and Peter try to escape with a young Jon and Martin. There used to be an animatic drawn for it as well but I literally can't find the animation or the story anymore. It's an AU (in case that wasn't obvious).

it's finally done!! this comic took me about 26h 20min (and an overall time of over 2 months) and is based on the fic with the same name, written by @advena-perditus (you can find it here. check it out, it's very good)

a note: I'm still working on improving the designs of Tim and Sasha (I accidentally made Not!Sasha more similar to how I imagine Sasha, so I'll have to work on that, but I wasn't going to change the entire drawing for it), but I'm overall quite happy with how it turned out :)

Excerpt from chapter four of my lonelyeyes wedding fic where Simon is officiating the couple's nth wedding.

Simon raised his hands and began to speak;

“Friends, and allies we are here today for what in the scheme of this is not even a speck in the immeasurable scale or the universe, for something that is really quite pointless and will no doubt happen again. The wedding of Elias Bouchard and Peter Lukas. I have known both of these beastly men throughout their relationship and though it is meaningless compared to the vast emptiness of all of time and space, they do care for each other. Which is what we are celebrating today. I will say this love means nothing, the joining of people in committed relationships has been happening since time out of mind and on the whole hasn’t affected much at all. But for some reason it does bring me joy to see it. Especially when it’s my good friend Peter and the man he loves. Now I feel that because it matters so little caring, love and affection should be enjoyed, because they won’t last long and there is a finite amount. Which brings me too—“

Arthur Nolan shouted from the back “Get on with it!”

There was laughter Simon paused and  cleared his throat,

“Anyhow, as I was saying, we are celebrating the union of Elias Bouchard and Peter Lukas. Now, I turn it over to the couple to say their vows…”

“Uh, do I really have to, Elias?”

“Yes, yes, you do have to, Peter. We’ve been over this.”

“But everyone is watching…”

Elias lets out an exasperated sigh. Every time! Every time it’s like this!

“They are not. I do not think anyone cares.”

Peter of course has to look around. Then he gives an accusatory stare to Elias.

“They are. Some people are looking at us.”

“Ah, so they are. It is only one kiss”

“Maybe I could kiss you on the cheek…?”

Elias is starting to lose his patience.

“Peter!”

“Fine…”

Peter finally leans closer to him and connects their lips for a few seconds.

“I pronounce you husband and husband.” The priest repeats even though he has already said it once, probably thrown off a bit by the awkward pause. Guests start hesitantly clapping. Mostly employees of the Magnus institute, a few very uncomfortable members of Tundra’s crew and some of their other acquaintances who have not known what they are signing for by accepting the wedding invitation. They all have in common the fact they absolutely did not wish to be here.

One cheerful clapping from the back follows. Simon unlike everyone else still seems to be having fun and also unlike everyone else was not invited.

Elias grabs his husband who is starting to look a bit translucent to drag him out of the mist that is starting to surround him. He can manage at least one dance before he will disappear into the Forsaken.

“Next time I insist there is either no kiss or no guests.” Peter murmurs deep blush still colouring his cheeks. Elias rolls his eyes.

“What are you talking about, husband dear? Next time? Maybe this time it will last?”

Peter starts laughing. Elias joins him. He is already filling divorce papers in his head seeing that Peter’s dance moves has not improved at all since their last ceremony.
